20 Best 20 Inch Box Fan (2022 Updated)

This is a totally awesome box fan! I have several others (other brands) in our house that we put in the windows to save on air conditioning and this is by far the best one. It’s more quiet, it’s more powerful, and it fits better in our windows.

I love that the knob is on the front and not on the top like the other ones. This makes it so much easier to put in the window. I will definitely be purchasing more! It’s perfect!.

im buying a second one of these. i got horizobtal sliding windows that are hard to slide wide enough for a 20 inch fan. I’ve bought other small fans. they rattle vibrate and do not put out nearly as much air.

you cannot even hear this on high. the base is flat so it dobt take extra room for feet. its solid square 11 inches. so you can seal squarely on all four sides or permantly seal mount in hole. its about 4 inches deep.

it blows about as much as 20 inch on low.

I actually bought it for my son who lives at home but goes to college. He wanted a fan that would fit on his desk, on the top shelf that faces the windows. From there, he could turn it on and feel the cool breeze blowing directly at him without blowing all his papers from the desk.

It fit perfectly!!!!.

I like the compact size, and it works well in terms of moving air. However, to me it is very loud. I’m keeping it pretty far away and it still seems too loud. Seems like it’s well made though. I’ll probably keep it but I’ll have to find something else to use for sleeping.

Do not buy from this brand, I certainly won’t buy from them again. We bought this fan less than 2 months ago and it suddenly stopped last night. After looking back I noticed the fan getting quieter in the last week or so.

I’ve had box fans last years before they die. I will not buy another Comfort Zone product again. 30 days warranty?? That’s laughable. Extremely disappointing.

For the price, this box fan is a good deal. It has three speed and even at the highest speed, the noise level is ok. (At the low speed, it’s pretty quiet. ) The fan has two plastic legs that help the fan stay upright and balanced.

(But these flat, plastic tabs will surely snap and break if you’re not gentle in moving and re-setting the box fan carefully. drop it and you’ll definitely snap off the legs at the slotted connection tabs.

The power control know has four settings; off, 1, 2, 3 that are dialed clockwise for fan speed. Because the knob is white, and the control setting numbers are white, you can’t really tell what speed you’re on (unless you manually click to off, then count your clicks.

) I took a fine point black marker to darken the numbers. Problem solved. I use it on the floor to draw air into the family room through the patio slider. Works great. And again, for the price point, this fan fits my need.

I have owned plenty of fans in my lifetime. In which I am always disappointed by the quality and the air flow. But so far I am very pleased with this box fan. It doesn’t have super wide openings so no worrying about fingers getting inside.

I can’t even put my finger through. It comes with 2 legs to put on so it stands nicely without leaning or falling. Has 3 speeds for the desired air flow you want. The knob isn’t chincy and will not fall off like all my other fans.

Does come with an instruction manual. Which explains several things that we already know but also things we didn’t. This fan has a fuse inside the head of the plug. Which is something totally knew. So say you blow a fuse, open the little slot replace and boom its fixed.

To clean just unscrew all the screws. Take back panel & front panel off. Pop the fan off by pulling from the motor. Soak fan in water and scrub or wipe clean, make sure to completely dry it off then place it back on.

Then do the same for the front & back panel. Make sure you dry completely before putting them back on then screw back in. Always make sure wires & motor do not get wet. Overall I am very pleased with this fan.

I got this Comfort Zone 20 inch Black Box fan to help circulate air from our AC in one of my kid’s rooms, as we have an older house where it doesn’t get quite as cool upstairs. It has three settings like most fans: low, medium and high.

The blades make odd noises when adjusting the settings. It stops thankfully once it’s set to whatever setting we have it on. The feet have to be assembled which wasn’t a big deal. However, one wasn’t make quite right.

I had to use my scissors to loosen the plastic so it would fit in the groove of the fan, so that it would stay in place. Other than minor annoyances the fan does what I need it for.

I ordered the 20 inch box fan for my bedroom when the ceiling fan wasn’t working. Overall it is a very nice found that works well, it does not have any extras and it served it’s purpose without being exceptional.

I do like the look and I really like that it’s black and it’s able to blend in better than a white one would. The handle does make things more convenient.

This fan is perfect to keep the air moving and prevent stuffiness along with cooling things off. It’s quite quiet for pulling as much air as it does. The black color blends in the background. I’ve used this fan indoors and outdoors with great results.

This fan arrived on time and in excellent condition. It is very sturdy. Has a place on bottom back to put cord when not in use. Has 3 speeds and it blows hard. The stands on bottom move so it can stand in different directions.

I am 100% happy I picked this fan out.

This fan blows! No, no, no! Not like that, but blows you away, my grandma refuses to let me put it on 3 all because she seriously believes it will blow her off the couch! Thank you, for the great birthday surprise Genesis.

Aesthetically pleasing fan! Works well. Isn’t silent but is close. Circulates the air well

I bought this floor fan recently to replace a nearly identical unit I got at Costco probably more than a decade ago, so I have a fair amount of experience with this exact product. The one thing I love about the Cyclone is that it blows very silently, much quieter than a similar floor fan I have with metal blades.

My old Lasko still worked but had an electric motor that was getting tired, since all of the 3 speed settings seemed to be blowing at about the same low velocity. But I really love the remote control, as you can turn the thing on or off and change fan speeds without getting out of your chair.

About the only negatives are that the whole assembly is made out of plastic and it’s also a little bit prone to vibrations. But if you want a quiet fan that blows a lot of air and has remote control, this is the one to get.

It’s a Lasko one of the best known fans. Years ago that’s all people talked about wow his fan feels so good, the rotation and the air feel so good, feels like a air conditioner, Jokes none of the above.

I spoke to my sisters they have a older model and it works great so it must be these newer model feels like a heater. $45. 00 really I bought the Cyclone thinking about a Cool operator that I had sometime ago and it was a great fan felt like a air conditioner.

Lasko the metal floor fan or table top my concern children sticking objects in them. Anyhow wrong decision on my behalf and wish that I had paid more attention.

The fan is great and this brand is my favorite for fans. But, this model makes quite the clacking noise of the side hinges when adjusting position and direction of fan. My other fans I’ve had don’t seem to do that.

But I’m sure I will get used to it. Could be just too new and needs use. I do like the control on speeds positioned on top of the fan rather than behind. Really, no complaints except for the clacking.

But this doesn’t affect the quality of the fan. I would buy Lasko fans again and again.

Purchased three of these thinking, What a bargain! Well, a bargain they were not. I returned all three within days- they are made of flimsy plastic. If turned on at the highest setting, these things shook back and forth rather violently and loudly.

The breeze emitted was not even all that powerful to boot. Total garbage. Invest just a little bit more money in a fan that is sturdy and will actually function well, and one that will hopefully last for many years to come.

I have a sneaking suspicion this model is on borrowed time.

During this heat wave, I am enjoying my Lasko 20 inch Circulating Box Fan. It has three speeds — 1 (Low), 2 (Medium) and 3 (High). It is exactly what I expected. It keeps the air moving and provides a nice breeze to help keep the place cool.

I highly recommend the Lasko 20 inch Circulating Box Fan, even if you already have an air conditioned space. It supplements the air conditioner to help keep things cool and breezy!.

This was ordered from the website for same day pick up. When I picked up this order it was not in a box and had a price tag on a string attached to the handle. I’ve bought this brand of fan before and this one had a fraction of the power of previous purchases.

Could be this was a floor model that was fobbed off as new and unused? I bought this in May, emailed my questions/concerns to tractor supply the same day and have had no response.

Love the powerful ability this fan has to circulate air. I enjoy the three modes (high, medium and low). I really like the remotes control…although it seems to be the same frequency as an electric fireplace we have and a tower fan so the remote operates all three.

I like the handle on top and the color. Dislikes: when you adjust the position of the fan it makes a very loud clicking noise while locking into place. We had the fan outside of a child’s bedroom and when I adjusted it to blow upward the very loud clicking noise woke said child.

Also do not care for the base of the fan. If you grab it to pick it up quickly to move it the base is not smooth and rounded there is jagged uncut plastic on the bottom and makes it uncomfortable and bulky to move.

Little pricey for me but overall does the trick as far as air circulation. While fan is running it is extremely quiet.

I bought this because it’s gettin’ hot and we only have 1 AC in the house, so we need that cold air to circulate a bit more. We have other fans, but we really needed one more to complete the ‘circle’ of air.

It works perfectly fine, definitely feels cheap (not like it’s gonna break when I turn it on cheap, but y’know), but is holding up well for our household needs. The feet are a great addition too, they were a little hard to put in, but I’m used to fans just being propped up because they have no support like that, so it’s great.

Sometimes on slanted platforms it kinda slides on high, but it really hasn’t been an issue. Looking forward to seeing how long it lasts, because it’s definitely worth the price at this point. As a side note, I don’t think this would be a good shop or garage fan.

Just for house stuff where it can sit in one place and do it’s work.

I absolutely love this fan ! I have the older model from over ten years ago & I needed another fan for downstairs so I looked up “Lasko” & found this one !! It’s the same fan…but the knobs are placed differently.

It works flawlessly as does my older model !! I am super pleased with this fan & when I purchased it…I got it…it was marked down for $10 less than the regular price. I am more than pleased with this fan (although the box was beat up & battered, but surprisingly there was no damage to the fan) !!.

I have a theory, with logic and conclusion. First the observation: The makers of this fan made it so that when you turn it on, the first setting available is high, then medium, then low. The logic: Since we all know that getting a motor running requires more power than it does to just continue running, not allowing a full start up is hard on the motor.

So if you quickly go to medium setting without letting the high setting run for a few seconds, you may in fact be shortening the life of the motor. The conclusion: If we want this fan to have maximum lifespan, we should, when starting up, allow a few seconds in High setting before going to Medium.

And to take it one step further, we likewise should allow a few seconds in Medium before going into low. Perhaps this explains why some fans end up kinda slow, and others do not. Though admittedly theory, it is based on known startup demands of motors.

At any rate, I am going to follow this procedure in the hopes my fan has a long life! So far so good.

Advertises as weatherproof and is much sturdier and more powerful than the slightly less expensive box fans. I especially like that this fan (while requiring the removal of several screws) appears much easier to disassemble and clean than the other comparable model (which I was never able to disassemble at all – which is why I had to purchase a new fan even though the other fan was still functioning).

Well worth the extra cost.

Do not buy! At first I thought this fan was awesome. The power on number 3 was unbelievable. After a few hours I noticed there was not as strong of an air flow. It died down so I switched speeds 3,2,1,.

Then 1,2,3 and absolutely no change in speed the power had dwindled down to a very low speed. I thought maybe there was a defect problem so I sent it back and had it replaced. Well nope no defect about it! This one is doing the same thing.

Its to bad because this fan when you first start it definitely has great power. So another hassle of returning. Ugghh.

I purchased the fan to draw the summer heat out of the house at night. We keep all windows open to let in the night time cooler air that displaces the heated air. The fan works like a charm. It’s three adjustable speeds allow how much air we want to draw out depending on the temperature differential between warm air being drawn out and the cooler air entering.

Glad to have purchased it.

Finally, a fan that does what it supposed to do and sadly are harder than hen’s teeth to find. If you want a good and loud but smooth running fan for white noise and kill every sound at night in an apartment (or anywhere, really), this is the fan for you.

We have run it every night from 8 pm till 6 am the next morning – for 2 weeks now – on the highest speed (3 out of 1, 2, and 3 highest) and it is running beautifully. I adore it. We went through countless fans, buying and returning them – most of them were just too quiet and did not drown out anything.

This baby is all you hear. cars can rev outside, people can holler and shout outside, race up and down the steps, and the dogs under us can bark all night in the house, and we can’t hear a thing. It is great.

I would recommend this fan to anyone who likes a smooth but loud white noise – it also runs on a pleasant key. like EGBDF. I don’t know which it would be, but it is nice to focus on. Securely packaged, too, and timely delivery.

Box fans in general are a bit of a pain to use at times. They don’t stay up by themselves and tend to draw the attention of little fingers. The speed adjuster is just like any box fan, turn the knob on the top to turn on and it starts out at the top speed and goes down as you turn it.

I never understood this, but it’s not just this box fan. Air Flow This one seems to do a decent job at what it’s supposed to do, it works very well if you have two across the room blowing in the same direction.

Ease of Use These box fans as I said before don’t really stay up by themselves very well. At top speeds they blow themselves backwards so they always have to have a support. The only place I’ve really found that’s best is in the windows crammed between the window and it’s moulding.

Durability I haven’t had any problem with my box fan yet, it seems to be in good shape and hasn’t stopped working after over a year. I don’t use it a lot though and basically it gets moved from the window to storage and back to the window again.

So if taken care of I don’t see anyone needing to buy a new one for quite a while. Design As mentioned before, the dial goes from off to high then down to low. I don’t understand why they do them this way, but that’s how it is.

The one I purchased in the store is quieter and much better. THERE WAS ONLY ONE IN THE STORE. I went to store this week because I could not wait. This one is cheap made and noisy. I purchased IN A PANIC due to AC breakdown and of course it arrives late to need but it’s a hassle to return.

AND I STILL NEED FANS. I’m thinking I’ll stop on line shopping. Very disappointed in quality of this product.

Went with this model because it was available as next day shipping. Sadly, we had to wait another day to go and get it from closest store. But as soon as we could get it plugged in kiddo got to make robot voices and his heart filled.

Sometimes it is the little purchases like these that make your days easier works well as a fan. Excellent use for robot voices.

So far, so good. I wedge it in my patio door and when the breeze is over 8 mph it even runs itself. The top speed is stronger than my previous fan it replaced. I was unable to install the little plastic feet.

I am not handy, but still, that shnot be a difficult task. Luckily I don’t need them. Deducting one star.

Two fans were exactly alike and both defective. Fan brackets that mount the motor are tack welded one half inch off center making the fan blade hit and stop on the fan housing. I bent the brackets to provide the required spacing.

The alternative would have been to siccors off a half inch from the tips of the blades but I want to return these fans if the motor gives out within the month. So Far. both going strong. I don’t know how quality control can fail so miserably and obviously on these fans, but it has.

Given the cost and the ease of the fix and the fear that more expensive models especially of what looks like the very same fan: I’d buy them again while laughing at their quality.

Good fan, very low end so with these sorta brands no offense to Lasko but sometimes you get lucky and end up with a fan that is flawless and may last you 10+ years. Other times theyll come with a defect or the motor might blow after like 3 weeks.

Its actually a pretty fun gamble considering the price is so low.

2 new fans in original packaging. Works perfectly, as described. I have other 20 inch box fans from different brands and these work just as well, are lighter weight, and are quieter.

Wow! This box fan has the air movement power like the ones we had when I was a kid 50 years ago! Seriously! The quality of construction is unlike any box fan I have seen in DECADES! I’m our non-profit work, we have had electric companies donate hundreds of fans to distribute to people in economic distress who can’t afford to pay for air conditioning or are greatly restricted financially.

This box fan is light years ahead of those box fans. This fan moves more air than my large shop fan, that now sells for about $200. I highly recommend this product!.

It’s very light in weight. Plenty quiet enough for our use. We’re using it in a diy house air filter and it works great so far. As for longevity It should last for years as we’re using one very similar in another filter.

6 mos so far on that one with no problems. We has used that one for years and it was used when we got it. High speed is louder but it’s too strong for this application.

Works great. Looks great. Seems very solid and well made. I also like the color.

I have purchased two of these, and have had them for 3+ years- they provide great ventilation, run quietly, and are easy to move around and store. I especially appreciate the weather shield feature that allows running the fan in a window opening during a rainstorm.

This fan is great for any room of the house! I use this fan in several different rooms through out the day. We like to put this fan near the sliding door to keep the air circulating during the day and during the evening I use it in the kitchen to help keep the house cool while cooking.

At night I can fit the fan right up in my window to suck in the cooler air from outside. There are three different fan speeds from high, medium and low. All three of the settings are quiet for a fan and doesnt not distract you from doing things.

This fan also has two pegs that can be placed in as legs to keep the fan from falling over while freestanding in the middle of the floor. I really like how light weight this fan is and how powerful it is! This is a great way to keep cool or circulate air within the house.

Motor and sound is silent within expectations. its a hum and not a whine or just straight vibrations. Assembled poorly with screws missing and rust. Why is the score not lower? My expectations were so low that it exceeded it.

Kinda wish it was made in China, at least quality control would be better. You are essentially paying more for more RPM and perhaps a better-made motor then the $20 equivalent. I’m not sure what part of this fan is “weather shield” but the rear axial of the stator rotor is not exposed to the enviroment unlike some of the fan motors I’ve seen, the motor brand is “Glory”.
