20 Best 27 Inch Baseball Bat (2022 Updated)

This bat we purchased from Academy has been great. The light weight makes for quick adjustment to a new bat and my Son really likes it. Along with his growing strength, he’s been able to hit them further with less effort.

When he really steps into it, it turns into a home run derby for him.

My two sons play on 15U and 12U teams and these bats meet the official guidelines. They lovd the feel if it. Thankfully for me, its on the less expensive end of the bat spectrum, and still does the job.

They do wish this particular bat came in different colors to easier identify who’s is who’s, but that’s a brothers problem!.

Bought this bat for my 11u son who has struggled with confidence at the plate. He previously had a CF Zen and it just wasn’t the right match for him and he never had any memorable hits with it. He is definitely a power hitter so I did a lot of research and read a lot of reviews and this bat is what we decided on.

And it was the best baseball decision I have made yet! His first at bat during the first game using his new Cat 9 he got his first ever over the fence homerun. His second at bat after that he got a ground rule double, it was so so close to having just landing on the other side of the fence.

Those were his only hits that day cause he was walked every other time. I am so so excited to see what he is gonna continue to do with this bat this season. The confidence this bat game him was well worth the cost.

100% truth- my 10 year old has broken 4 CF Zens this past year (size 28/18). 2 2020 (Black/Gold), 2 2021 (Orange/white). I was tired of replacing (the process) so we tried the connect (28/18). Off the first swing even to this review.

my son prefers the Cat. The reason for the 4 stars is the fact he has ALREADY rented the Cat9 connect. Bought 2/5/21 and dented 2/22/21! Now before you think “it’s a big kid”. NO, my son is 67lbs. Exit velo is around 52-54 mph (peaks at 62 mph).

However, he has way above average torque and G force in his swing (yes we use tech to analyze data). I mention this stuff so the dads that know bats and swings can make better decisions. What will I be doing.

getting another Cat9. Disclosure: we have a unwrapped 2021 CF Zen (from sending back a cracked Zen). Son doesn’t want to use. want to use the Cat9 so we are replacing asap. Will update when that one dents.

Bought the bat for my 13 year old son. This is his first BBCOR bat. I was concerned about the extra weight and some of the other bats we tried were pretty barrel heavy. Had heard the Cat8 was always a good bat so decided to read some reviews on the Cat 9.

Bat is really balanced and has good pop for a one piece. Vibration resistant knob really helps with miss hits. My son is hitting the ball well and really likes it.

Bought this bat today just before my highschool tryouts and I love it. Has a great balance of weight. This is my first bbcor bat but I would say i got about 20 more feet than I would with my usa -10.

But overall great bat and for a good price.

Bat is a good beginners bat who is transferring over to the BBCOR without breaking the bank.

We bought this for our son for high school baseball. He has loved getting used to it while preparing for the season.

My 10 year old son hit three pitched balls and the bat bent 1 inch out of alignment. It was a 29 in 19 0z. This is the second Easton bat of different models. Unacceptable

My son started back up in baseball and I didn’t want to spend a lot since not knowing if he would like it. Kind of wished the barrel was a little bit longer.

Bought this bat for my 6yr old about a month ago. Initially he was having some difficulty adjusting due to the weight increase but once he adapted it was game over. He will be 7 in October and hits 200 ft shots with this bat.

The secret is reps. I recommend this bat for any youngster looking to hit big shots to the green.

Just got the bat in two days ago for my 12 yr old son. Soft tossed in the cage day one. Day two at practice hit 2 out 6 pitches over and one middle of the fence. This bat is incredibly hot! Highly recommend.

My son is pretty small and young, and prefers a lighter bat. For the LL season he had the Easton Speed (-13) 1-piece composite and it treated him pretty well. When he entered travel ball, I opted for this bat in the same length, and is only 1-oz more than his other bat.

He has found this bat to have good pop (definitely better than his USA bat), great weight and balance, and no sting when making contact. This bat is not the same pop and level as a 2-piece composite, but for a fast and light bat at less than half the price, this is a GREAT option until he develops a bit more strength to turn the -10 2-piece bats that have a bit more end weighting.

As for the durability, he’s been using and swinging the bat for about 3 weeks. A lot of batting practice and a few games, we’ve seen no issues yet, and I’m not overly concerned. I WOULD recommend.

My son loves the Easton 360 XL. The bat has a a great swing weight and the barrel is semi end loaded so the 360 has nice pop. This bat won’t hit nukes like more end loaded bats but those bats don’t get through the zone as fast as this bat.

This bat will hit HRs. My son has a couple already so if your looking for a great contact hitter’s bat with some pop. This will be a great value. PS. The bat’s is really quiet compared to some louders ear piercing pings such as the Marucci Cat7, 8 and 9 sound.

Bought this bat after he used his teammates. He loves the swing weight. Not super endloaded but not super balanced like the one piece cat9. Hits the ball a ton further and no sting compared to the one piece which would ring him up every now and again.

Needs a bit of breaking in though. Bat comes with recommendations on proper break in. Great bat.

First time using this bat and my kid hit a massive homerun (after the proper breakin of course). He loves the feel, the slight endload, the flex, basically everything. I love the color scheme. We have used aluminum cat9, zen, the goods, prime.

and this is by far his favorite bat. He’s 12 and plays travel and is using the -8. This bat is a homerun.

Bought for my son after he swung it in the store along with a few other ones. After a few indoor practices he said it was awful. No sweet spot. I know not normal for this bat so I think something was just wrong with it.

This bat is a huge hit. The only problem is that my entire team wants to use it now, so I’ll have to replace it soon. For the price, I guess I can replace it every few months, so not that big a deal.

My only complaint is that at only 26 ounces, it is a little too light for when I want to go deep. Still, a great bat for just getting the ball over the infield and landing in the no-man’s land between short and center-left (or second and center right if you are a lefty).

My son is 7 and plays Little League. Most of the bats available online are not LL eligible. I purchased this one for him and have been very pleased. It has nice pop and he has adjusted to it really well.

This is a great bat for the money.

A very nice entry level bat, my son plays farm league and has kept this bat for the batting cage. He has hit a lot of balls with it and it has served him well. He has moved on to a Combat Maxum and Easton Mako both are composite but still he will grab his 27inch S50 to practice.

Purchased this bat for our son who plays at the collegiate level. First front soft toss BP session on HS field in Colorado (90+ degree weather). Probably the most live bat we have ever had. Son was hitting bombs.

But then about 60-70 swings in, the bat started to rattle when holding upside down and slightly tapping the knob/handle on the grass. Decided to swing again and something appeared to snap back into place.

No more rattle and the bat was live again. Started to research the warranty information because that rattle gave us concern and sounded like a broken wood bat or dead metal. We should have video taped it but forgot in the moment.

If it happens again, we’ll capture via video.

I bought the goods drop 5 for little league. In my opinion alloy bats are better for little league, exit velos, and durability. I personaly think the weight of this bat because it is balnced feels like a 30” drop 8 cat 9 composite, i highly recommened this bat instead of a 350 dollar easton adv or demarini cf little league bat.

comparing this to the adv you get more oppotaco power and drive the ball in the gaps. I have personally have hit 6 home runs with this bat in 12 games with the fences being 215 feet all around.

Bought this bat a week ago and after two days of my son using it in batting practice for his travel team it is dented in the sweet spot of the barrel. My son is 11 and swings a 30/20. He’s not a power hitter and hits primarily singles and doubles, so not sure if we just got a bad bat or its a durability/quality issue.

Great bat with excellent pop out of the wrapper. My son loves it. just disappointing the durability might not be there.

Son used last night for first time. 1st off this is just an awesome looking back you can see new technology And engineering just pouring out of this thing. S son said really loved the feel never felt something so balanced and was able to swing it with ease definitely hit harder and thing sounds Incredible as far is door ability we’re just trusting that RawlingsIs as good with this Bhatt is it is with all their other products definitely recommend this is the new go to bat this season in my opinion.

Nice pop Light swinging bat Barrel ridges for backspin Comes in a half size at 32. 5” Sounds good Slightly larger barrel than USABat and USSSA bats. Knob is a good size. Some are too small. Great color way.

I have only hit about 50 pitches but i can feel the difference, definitely getting through the zone faster. Making solid contact adding exit speed to my hits. No sting

My 13U son hit over. 500 this season and still hit many home runs, deep gap doubles, and lead the team in RBIs. Kids with end loaded bats were whiffing against higher level tournament pitching. This bat has plenty of pop and a balanced swing weight for optimum control.

Not just for contact hitters! Why not hit for average and power?.

My son loves the Solo. IMO it’s the best one piece alloy USSSA bat line on the market. Balanced swing with tons of pop out of the wrapper. Less vibration on mis-hits than more expensive bats with anti vibration tech.

I always buy direct from LS because I have been burned by DOA out of spec bats from third party vendors.

Bought this for my 8yo when his Easton maxum cracked. Great feel and pop out of the wrapper. Largest sweet spot of any bat we’ve measured. Very minimal stinging. Maxum warranty came in the mail a month ago and he decided to stick the solo JBB.

4 other kids started using it with very positive results. Highly underrated and solid bat.

Not too loud compared to the CAT9 and CAT8, good swing weight and feel, definitely end loaded but if you have good bat control you should be fine. Looks fire, love the design with the basic black and white makes it look like a sleeper bat.

The first time I had a game with this bat was awesome, I got some nice line drives and it felt like I was hitting nothing but if you hit it towards the end of the bat or in the hands the bat is pretty forgiving but, not as forgiving as something like the META or CAT9.

Overall I would definitely recommend this bat for anyone in high school that needs a cheaper bbcor bat, if you can get the base model string king metal 2 I would buy that as there is not much difference between the PRO and the base model.

Balanced swing weight, solid pop, nowhere near as loud as the CAT9, fantastic price. My son has the Goods from last year but I still had to get him something for his bday. Now his entire team uses this bat in games and cages and they’re all asking their parents for one.

All the reviews and hype are well warranted and maybe, just maybe the future of BBCOR ISN’T a bunch of $600+ reskinned bats from the previous year.

This was my first BBCOR bat and it is perfect. It also is very affordable, because not everybody can get a $500 bat. It is a little end loaded but I could still control it, and i’m only 5″ 5′. It also has a very good grip with a tapered handle which makes it very comfortable.

The only thing that isn’t the best is that it does ring you up off of the hands, but it isn’t to bad.

So my son is 9 he’s average height and size for his age. We got a 28/18, after he demoed every Marucci bat and this was the bat he wanted. He liked the balance and the ease of swing. He said that it didn’t vibrate much on his miss hits.

These are by far hottest bat in usa drop 11 and 5 beat all hybrids one piece one piece composite they are hot hot fire next after them is select series then maxum ultra they are 9 and 12 mph behind you don’t always get what u pay 4.

Unfortunately they are hideous looking w smaller barrel and sweet spot. W a little practice they hit bombs the usssa version are top 3 for alloy only composite is getting dangerous. Hopefully stringking takes note of there success and fixes there usssa and usa line bbcors are fire.

Great bat, excellent pop. No break in period like with composite. Half my sons team now uses the bat. Only drawback was the white tape on the handle which was nasty after two games on the dirt.

Has been great for my 5-6 yr old son quick adjustment from the 2 1/4 barrel to this 2 5/8. Good balance. Has been hitting solid hard line drives. Even with bad contacts the balls he has been hitting comes out good.

I bought this bat for my son only after watching the review from the bat bros. And once the video review came out and they said that it was a legit contender for #1 bat of the year comparing it to the previous #1 bat from last year (which was the Marucci cat 9) And I’m talking in comparison to all composite -5 bats.

The bat bros know what they are talking about when it comes to bat reviews. So I bought it for my son and after slowly breaking it in for a couple weeks. He was finally able to use it in his 13u travel ball tournament over the weekend.

And let me tell you that this bat is the real deal. He hit two home runs over the fence. But this fence wasn’t a small 4′ or 6′ fence. This was a 20′ tall fence. That you could compare to the green monster in Boston.

They weren’t just barely clearing the fence. They were “no doubters” the fence at the foul poles were marked 249 feet. He hit one to right center and one to left center. I’m going to say both homers went at least 280-300 feet.

Everyone at the game new right off the bat that they were gone. He nearly had a third he omer but it hit the very top of the fence and came back into play. My son loves this bat. And after he hit the homers he told me that he didn’t even feel any recoil from the bat to his hands.

He said it was so smooth.

Got the 28/18 for my 8 year old (4’5″ – 72 lbs) who plays for an 8U “AAA/Major” USSSA classification club team in Florida. I broke in the bat by hitting 400 or so balls off the tee at various swing speeds and then let my son have at it.

He has a 2021/22 CAT9 28/18 Sr. League composite so he has a good basis of comparison and according to him, the CATX felt better and had more pop. He also loves the new tapered handle near the knob. Thus far, he’s used it during fall team practices as well as with his hitting instructor and we all definitely noticed a difference in power/how fast the ball was coming off the bat.

To be honest, I think it’s a combination of my son getting stronger over the summer but I do believe there’s enough innovation in the new bat that warrants consideration for an upgrade. We absolutely love the Marucci durability in comparison to “other” popular brands that constantly need to be turned in for warranty with cracking and end caps coming off.

Purchased the 29” 18oz. bat. It felt much heavier than a comparable 29” 18oz. bat. Ended up weighing it and it was actually 20. 3 oz. We tried to return it, but spent 1/2 hour on the phone with Dick’s customer service just for them to tell us they couldn’t do anything and we would have to try going directly through Marucci under their warranty.

I would think twice about purchasing this bat and purchasing a bat in general at Dick’s.

We purchased this bat after reading these reviews. My son just turned 8y/o and is small for his age, so we decided on this bat for coaches pitch b/c it’s the lightest USA bat offered. The first bat dented the first time he used it, we returned it to Dicks Sporting goods and exchanged it for another, via the warranty we purchased.

We assumed the first bat may have been defective, if that’s true, so was the second. I am going to return this bat to Dicks and pick up another bat that we can count on. I contacted Marucci and to return this bat to them was going to be a process so I’m done with it.

Maybe their big boy bats are better ade but this particular bat is JUNK. Don’t waste your time or money.

Payed double the price for an Easton that sounded like a thud when you hit it and it had very little pop for the price. This Marucci has that classic ping sound that we all love to hear and the pop the ball has coming off of this bat compared to my son’s Easton is night and day! It’s also USA baseball stamped so he can use it in coach pitch so it’s a multi season bat as well.

This bat came out of the wrapper HOT! This was my youngest 7u son. Day 1, it’s what you dream about. He was hitting 40′ further & had time of his life. A week later he was getting frustrated. I let a few other kids use it & recommended to several folks after that first day.

I’ve coached for years from Allstars through Travel ball. I had a few other kids use one the whole season. but ours just died. Maybe we got a dud but it really fell off after literally 3 days of hitting.

My 10 year old son has been playing for about 6 months and I started him with borrowed bats at the the games then after the season ended I bought him a composite bat to build his confidence with the batting coach.

Then I got him this USA baseball bat. He loves the bat and prefers it to his composite even though the composite was twice as expensive. This bat has really good balance and weight. Probably the best bat at the price point, you get a lot for your money.

My son just got his new bat. First round of balls in the yard, the bat sounded dead. I thought maybe it’s just him with a heavier bat by 2 oz, compared to his older bat, Rawlings prodigy. At game time, first at bat, ground ball single.

Again the bat sounded dead. He’s a good hitting with avoided average bat speed. 2nd at bat, back to the prodigy. Long fly ball to the fence. Infield home run! Came home and took more batting practice.

Some balls he hit had good pop, some not. I think he just missed the sweet spot. But, the ones he did hit well did not seem to have the distance I would of expected. Line drives were quick, but, no distance.

I didn’t think the bat needed broken in? It’s alloy. We’re not giving up on it, I was expecting another 10 – 15 feet of distance. Anybody had a experience with it? Thank you.

I bought a year ago the 29/19 model. My son said the bat was comfortable to use. He was able to slap the ball around the field for base hits and a hand full of doubles. The bat had a good sound and solid looking hits.

The end cap was slightly loose after a few practices but didn’t seem to effect the performance, at least at the age level where the the players are still very young and are new to hard ball.

It’s a USA stamped bat so you know they’re all missing the pop. My son really likes the feel of this Louisville Slugger Omaha bat. He says it swings really nice and not much sting in his hands.

I purchased this bat for my son about a month ago. This bat has a much more solid sound and feel than his last bat which was quite expensive. This bat has actually given him a boost in confidence without all the sting.
