Made in USA! Hard to find an American antenna. Well these are made in Phoenix. These are high quality antennas that are ‘top loaded’ which keeps SWR low. Since Wilson Antennas are made in China now I will only use Firestik.

I was looking for a small antenna that I could mount on the rear corner of my Expedition. I did not want it to stick up above the body of the vehicle and this antenna was the answer. It looks good and performs even better than expected.

Its tough and very well made. Reception is great and I can hear the skip rolling in from all over the US. Tuning is a must but is super easy and fast. SWRs are not perfect but low enough to make me happy.

I would totally buy this antenna again.

I bought this for my Tacoma pickup. I previously had a 4′ firestick, but I just did not like the way it looked. So I bought this one as what I thought would be a compromise, and really didn’t expect it to perform that great.

Was I surprised! The first contact I made with it was skip from Oklahoma to Maine. Sure, I always have a little extra help from a footwarmer, but this antenna is only 2′ long, and is mounted about 5 inches back from the cab on the driver side bed rail! It IS a 5/8 wave antenna, which is good, and it performs as well, or maybe even better than my 4′ 1/2 wave firestick.

And it looks good on the truck! Much cooler look! Now there will be no “oh look, a dorky cb’er with an ugly too long antenna on his truck”. The price is very reasonable also, so give it a try. I don’t think you will be sorry!.

Great antenna, my last one gave up the ghost and deteriorated after ten years. So I bought the same again still a superb antenna for the money and this one looks better made and stronger. Had great world reports on the last one with no reports of interference.

Was delivered in two days and very well packaged.

I bought 2 and would buy 3 & 4. The 1st came down on a temp. Set up. I put this baby up on a tower 50ft up. Pushing 1 1/2kw and won shoot outs against Mr. Coily and the sigma4 vector 4000 100 miles away.

This baby shocked the fans and other stations sand bagging. I never ran fiberglass but have heard big loud stations run them and had to try it. This took a 80mph wind gusts and still gave me a 1. 1 flat match.

Talked on 10-12 meter with it and mind blowing results, I just bought a 4 element yagi guess what will be on top? Yup the big 24 ft imax 2000. It flops around a bit in the wind but like rubber band stands up stout.

For the give it away price this is 1 fiberglass that out performs big sticks 99’s and so on. Hey if your thinking about buying one and your not sure of the performance, I’ll tell u that this baby gives flat matches with out the ground radicals and hammers hard.

Use good coax not the cheap stuff and u will see the ears are second to none, I hear great, and dxing/skip is always calling me over and over and over.

Great dual band performance on 10 and 11 meters, no tuner was required. Set swr on the 10 meter and it covers both with 1. 2 or less. 10 meter dx from California to Canada to Argentina. Regular 11 meter contacts from Virgin Islands up to North Carolina from Florida.

Looking for a good durable and affordable dual band antenna, it does have some gain, but it’s not a 5/8 wave, the tram 1181 fills the bill. these are very affordable antennas-around $15-20. unity gain on vhf, and 2.

5db gain on uhf. pre-tuned for the 2m/70cm ham bands. the build quality is good on the nmo base, and the antenna itself is pre-tuned and ready to use. antenna itself is good quality heavy type black coated metal stinger that handles at least 50 watts, as that is what i’m running thru it.

i own 2 of these units and they are broad banded and work just fine for local area repeaters and simplex stations. i haven’t had any problems or issues with either of mine. one is on the car, the other one i’m using on a base kit for a simplex repeater, also running 50 watts.

looking for something that works for your portable or mobile, and don’t, or might not want longer 5/8 wave, and want a lower price too, be sure and check this antenna out. think you’ll be happy and surprised at it.

i was. be great to have an extra one just to have ready in a go bag, or an extra to put on a mag mount on a friends car if going out with them and they don’t have an antenna, quick antenna on a second vehicle your own.

i like my units. and for the price, can’t beat it, with capabilities for both bands-pre-tuned and low swr. i checked mine and that was all i did–didn’t touch or even think about any slight adjustments to it.

was that good! i’m sure these will last for many years for me and do just fine. really nothing to go bad or wrong on them. nice black finish on antenna and the nmo mount. give them a look.

Great low profile dual band antenna. I installed this on my 2013 Prius using the TRAM NMO trunk lip mount and it works great, despite being on the corner of the roof of the car. I did bend the element slightly to keep it vertical since the mount is on the sloping part of the hatch.

Overall, a very good antenna for the money. We’ll see how it holds up over time. I still have some 20+ year old mobile antennas that still work!.

When it comes to vhf n uhf I like to have every ounce of power to the antenna. I precision cut the coax so it has less than a half watt of reflective power. This antenna tuned great on the 2 meter band with less than a half of a watt reflective.

However, the lowest reflective power on the 70cm band was 5 watts.

Ive owned a A99 when it was a Antron 99 back in the day. Almost 15-yrs. Ive recently got a brand new (Solarcon) A99 Ive noticed it just doesnt talk out as good. If, they have changed something to restrict it.

They need to go back to factory in the day. Now take into fact Im working with brand new coax lmr-400 still turning & tweaking it. But, Im getting great receiving. Is it radio-no. Ive narrowed it to antenna or coaxial.

Good luck & Im looking for more feed back from others to on Utube. Ive only seen one other complaint about the new one. Says (Solarcon) right on the side of the Antenna. Aka: The new Solarcon A99.

The older design seem more like the Shakespeare BigStick or he Silver rod. Which I loved. I haven’t used it enough to give a good review. Friends tell me this one will run all over the place with just about any tuner and about a meg in a half of range if tuning rings are adjusted correctly.

Seems to tune. I am not sure its as efficient as the for mentioned antennas? I will update my review in a few months. I will mount it somewhere between 18-30 feet depending how much my mast flex’s. Right now I’m putting up at 20 feet to keep it away from my roof.

The end was not crimped right so the pl259 receiver is crooked! I have Owned better ones in the past. However I have read a few reviews were the buyers had the same problem I do with the Coax sticking out at an angle.

Haven’t even used it as I do not trust the inner workings were put together with any sort of Quality! I won’t resell it because I am an honest person and wouldn’t want someone else to fry their equipment.

They won’t accept a return and why would I want to exchange this one for more Shotty craftsmanship. The real kick in the nuts is it claims it was ” Made in the USA” ! With the Increased Price, and American made I Expect much better Quality.

When my old antenna got damaged at the auto repair shop, I decided to upgrade to this antenna. My previous antenna was a single band 2-meter antenna and worked very well but I needed a dual band to compliment my new mobile radio.

This is a super antenna. Short enough to be unobtrusive but long enough to provide plenty of gain. I am now able to “hit” our UHF repeater over 30 miles away. VHF performance is equal to or better than the old dedicated 2-meter antenna I previously was using.

I highly recommend the Diamond NR770HBNMO antenna for both VHF and UHF mobile use.

I have two of these. One chrome and this one, black. Both function as 5/8 wave antennas. Plus: For FM this is a “high power” performer. Its wide band and needs no tuning out of the packaging though you can tune it if you want to, I don’t see any reason to do so.

The instructions are clear its pretuned at the factory and recommends leaving it there. Its got extremely good gain on receive, and on transmit it gets your signal out there. SWR’s are very close to 1:1:1 – 1:5:1 on most frequencies, only noticed an anomaly at the high end of Amateur 70cm band where it exceeded 1.

5:1 a tad. Works well with a mag mount with no discernible difference in SWR’s. Am switching between magmount and lip mount. I’m going to guess that the base of the antenna isn’t so much a loading coil as it is a matching network to achieve the kind of results you get.

I’d hate to throw money away to tear one apart to see what’s inside, so I’ll stick with guesswork. Drawbacks: Its about almost 4 feet tall so it rides on the trunk rather than on the roof. That affects the transmission pattern.

Using an Signal Strength meter around the periphery of the vehicle at VHF the pattern is more signal going out from the trunk rearward than forward. So if you want to point signal North you have your hood pointed South, At 70cm it doesn’t seem to make much of a difference due to the nature of UHF.

Some hams buy the PL-259 style mount to use it with a separate ground plane kit as a base antenna.

I like this antenna! I use a mag mount on top of the car roof, and previously had a Larsen 2/70 dual band antenna there. This Diamond antenna does not require a ground plane, so it seems to work much better using the mag mount.

I am very happy with the noticeable improvement in signal strength in poor reception areas. It’s a bit pricy, but in comparison to others, not too high, and for its performance it is highly recommended!.

I placed the antenna on a 35 foot mast and after using my binoculars I found the nearest cell tower. With the regular Omni directional antenna with my 4k HiBoost booster I could barely pull in 6db max.

After installation all my numbers at 60 gain on the down 57 on the up and all 10’s on the power. It has proved to make a thousand dollar investment the best it can be. I am very happy with the performance and it has improved everything on data.

If you live in a very rural area such as I do my cell signal was spotty at best. Now I have 3-4 bars with 35-50 mgbs download and 5-10 on the up. Century link Internet where I live is 1. 25 mgbs which is barley dialup speeds and with todays demand on the internet that is unacceptable.

This unit has made me a true believer you get what you pay for. The investment in this antenna was a perfect addition to my cell signal boosting power. Highly recommend it. As long as the wind or lightening doesn’t take it out I’m highly happy.

I live in a dead zone with hardly any cell coverage. Before the long ranger I was getting 2 mbs down and. 5 mbs up. Now I’m getting 10-15 mbs down and 10 mbs up average. Using unlimitedvilles service with a mofi4500V3.

I live in a rural area and wireless internet is my only option aside from satellite internet. This antenna greatly boosted my connection and almost doubled my download speeds. It has made a big difference in the quality of my connection and I plan to buy a second one to provide me with mimo capabilities.

The antenna appears well made and a convenient size for a tri-band antenna with some extra gain over the stock duck. Mine appeared to be authentic with extra graphics on the packaging and text on the antenna itself.

Unfortunately, the extra gain caused desense on the receiver. I observed this on 4 different Baofeng UV-5R models in different environments. This also happened when connecting other external antennas to these radios, so the antenna is not at fault.

The desense was only observed when working weak signal simplex. Repeaters with there stronger signals seemed to be fine. Transmitter performance seemed greatly improved on 2M but no gain improvement was noticed on 220 or 70cm over the standard duck.

It should be noted that the standard duck is a single band antenna so maybe its designed better. All in all I like the antenna and will keep it even though doesnt work well on some of the HTs I own.

Purchased unit to use with BTECH UV-5X3. On all three bands, on air performance was poorer than the stock antennas furnished with the radio. 222 seemed to be the worst band. Repeaters accessible with the stock antennas could not reliably be accessed with the Nagoya.

Tested antenna mounted on my AAI N2061 antenna analyzer. SWR at 2 and 440 was over 2:1, and much higher SWR at 222 MHz. Very disappointed by poor performance and cannot recommend this antenna. Unit seems well made – shame the performance was so poor.

I was pleased to find this antenna, which is an exact match for my new radio. I was pleasantly surprised to find it professionally packaged with the specs plainly written on the plastic sleeve. What was even better was the price, which was about half of “other” products, which wouldn’t have fit my radio anyhow.

Great. Hoisting up mast on halyard resulted in good distance if it stays vertical. Also, used an adapter to attach to a hand held, and really improved the distance just holding it up with one hand while using the hand held with the other.

Great little spare antenna for a VHF marine radio. I use the antenna with a GPS Standard Horizon. It picks up Sea Tow radio check in the dock, WX and 16 Coast Guard. I originally purchased the antenna to trouble shoot a fault I was having with my mast antenna.

Downside – it’s and expensive accessory to have in the off chance you’ll need it.

I needed a temporary antenna and this works great. My unit receives AIS and the signals come through W/O issue.

The Shakespeare 5104 4′ Centennial VHF Antenna is elegant and practical. The cable is hard wired to the antenna, but there’s some work (soldering) involved to attach the PL-259 connector (included) to the cable.

I purchased a PL-259-CP-G connector to avoid soldering. My mechanic preferred soldering because the connection is cleaner and it works like a charm. Good value, just need to get over the PL connector challenge.

Bought this antenna to replace an 8ft one that I busted on a low bridge. It works great and while the range isn’t as good as the 8ft obviously I can still get 2-3 miles non line of sight with it and the low output setting on a standard horizon marine radio (the guy I bought the boat from used it on the great lakes, I use it on the mississippi river so we’re never that far from a marina/land/other boats).

\ The only pitfall is the connector isn’t attached (while aggravating its a good thing because you can fish the antenna wire through much smaller openings in your boat). I used a Shakespeare PL-259-CP-G Marine Center Pin Connector which only requires a pair of pliers to crimp onto the cable end rather than the enclosed one which requires cable stripping, soldering etc.

Overall works great and would purchase again.

I bought this antenna for use with a West Marine UHF/VHF Marine radio as my boat was not equipped with a radio. I was amazed at the quality of the antenna It looked great right out of the shipping tube.

The directions were very explicit and it was easy to assemble and attach to the radio. It is light weight and at the same time durable. I expect to have satisfactory performance and reception for a long time.

I have one at my vacation home in Yuma. I have this at my summer home in Modesto and I even put one up at my Mom’s house. Best High Gain VHF UHF omni-directional antenna for the price. This is the Tram 1481 antenna.

Do not seal up any holes at the bottom. These holes are called weep holes to let out the condensation. If you want to use pure 100 % silicon chalking on the two top joints. Where the top section screws onto the middle section and the middle section screws together to the bottom section, Go for it.

Day 1 is beautiful. 60 watts on 2m and I can key a repeater 114 miles away, before you say that is impossible I am. 1,670 feet in elevation and I have not had a confirmed contact on that repeater but at 114mi keying it is impressive.

I read water issues on reviews. There is a rubber seal between the sections and the “supplied” wrenches weren’t. Use crescent wrenches or pliers. Obviously hand tight isn’t water tight lol. Time is the true test but at $59 I would easily put it up against units costing $100 more.

Newer ham radio operator, was using a homemade J -pole for several months and decided to upgrade. Antenna was shipped to my local Wal-Mart in two days and assembly was easy. There are two screw together joints and set screws that hold the internal wiring together.

Everything went together very smoothly with the exception of one of the joint that couple the fiberglass rods together didn’t screw all the way down. The threads were not cast to good tolerances, but it doesn’t affect anything.

The instructions said taping was not necessary, but I used white electrical tape at all the joints and left the bottom unsealed as it said there is a built in weep hole for drainage. Results are amazing, I’m hearing stations on 2 meters that I never was able to hear and my signal reports are amazing.

Highly recommend this antenna and the price is unbeatable.

A good allround antenna, I have the x200 and x510 and on vhf uhf it’s a very close performer. Plus you get the added benefit of 6 metres. I have compared it to a six metre dipole and it gives the same s reading but with less noise.

It’s compact in size too so once up high does not look out of place.

The instructions are in Japanese so the only thing you can understand is a small piece of ‘update’ paper showing a new way of mounting, getting the SWR down on the 3 bands is a pain trying different sized radials while on the ground, then when its up in the air the SWR changes again !, I have an X50 aerial made by Diamond and that’s been absolutely brilliant for 20 years ! Lets hope my confidence grows with the V2000.

Very good on 2/70 bands. Only sat 10ft high and results are amazing. Not really tried 6 metres yet so cant comment on that.

I opted to buy the GP-15 over the Diamond V2000A because of its single piece design. It was easy to install and it was great on 2m across the band and on 6m it has a very distinct null based on where you tune the 6m radial and that is also to be expected.

On 70cm the antenna was terrible, over 2. 0:1 nearly across the band measured on two different RigExoert analyzers, and AA-600 and an AA-170. I contacted Comet and they suggested taking the antenna down and checking to see if any of the elements came unsoldered inside of the antenna during shipping and they also sent me a new power feed section to install in case the elements were still in tact and the power feed section was defective.

That was in the winter and here it is summer and could finally get up there and take the thing down. The first thing that I noticed was that the power feed section was loose. The set screw was not tight but I suspect the tapered bolt that holds the antenna into the mounting sleeve was holding the power feed section in place while it was up.

After tightening the set screw I put the antenna back up and it wasn’t any better on 440. I took the antenna back down and removed the original power feed section and installed the new power feed section.

It wasn’t any better on 440 with the new power feed section and pretty much the same on 2m and 6m so I installed the original power feed section and bought a new Diamond V2000A. The Diamond is great on all bands.

I’m sure there are some good GP-15’s out there but between myself and a friend we both got bad ones.

I have purchased amateur radio gear for over 20 years and so far DX ENGINEERING has been great with it’s products & service. Use a tall mast to mount this antenna even if on a roof top installation. As I placed it on a two story building via atop of a 7 foot mast installed on a 5 foot tower and then changed it to a mast on my chimney.

The best spot was on the chimney I guess because it has a clear view of the ground. Please send me any suggestions to obtain clear communications. 73 – KB2WMU.

Replaced a more expensive base antenna that took a direct lightning strike. GP-9 is very well made and easy to assemble. The GP-9 placed in the same location and same height has performed as well as the more expensive antenna it replaced.

I bought this because my 13 EL Cushcraft was not usable since my rotator broke and since the Coax was very very old. It has less gain but still pretty good. It needs no rotator so that saves a few hundred and lots of time when operating.

You can talk to many at the same time without waiting for a rotator. Installation was pretty easy although the instructions were obsviously done by someone in Japan that was not very good at english and they were old saying using set screws when it acually was a Philips to join the elements.

I live in an apartment. This antenna is just the right size to be able to fit above the metal railing (on a tripod) of my balcony, but not hit the upstairs balcony above. SWR of 1. 1 – 1. 2 on 146 MHz.

I don’t have a proper measure on 440, but I’ve gotten good reports.

Works great across the 2m band with good SWR. Good SWR at 23cm also, but not a stellar performer. That’s OK, I merely wanted the capability. However it’s completely useless on 70cm. SWR is not lower than 2:1 anywhere, and in some places greater than 3:1 – unfortunately I received this antenna back in September and tested it on the ground, assuming it would improve when in the air on a new feedline.

I was not able to get it put up on the tower until recently (November), so I am likely well outside any return window there may have been. Getting this product into Canada was not an inexpensive task and I’m very much not happy with Comet.

I purchased the Comet GP-3 because it has a one piece radiator and comes pre tuned. I am ~1:1. 2 SWR through both 2m and 70cm ham bands and <1:1. 3 on GMRS. The radiator is not segmented, which means there is nothing to loosen up over time and no place for ice/water incursion.

It also has a very high wind rating. Has a relatively low cross sectional wind profile also, which means you will only need minimal mounting structure. I mounted to a 10ft X 1. 25″ dia EMT, then used small pieces of PT 2×4 as spacers to mount to the wall studs of the end of the house via two lag screws going through holes I drilled in the EMT.

So far, I love the antenna, I can easily be heard on a non-LOS repeater 100 miles away at 50 watts. I can trip that same rptr at 20 watts, but have never talked at that power so can’t give the full report.

Okay, mounted the GP-3 on the peak of my two-story house. Attached 50 ft of dx engineering low loss (RG-8 like -400MAX PL259S 50FT) 50 ohm cable. Measured the SWR with rigexpert AA-600 antenna analyzer.

The SWR was 1. 2 or lower over the 2 m band 144-148 MHz. Very good. On the 70 cm band not quite so good. Between 440 and 450 Mhz the SWR was 1. 5 or so with some dips down to 1. 2 or so. Below 440 the SWR oscillated between SWR 1.

2 to 3 (highest in the 420-430 MHz range). Over all very satisfied. Not bad overall especially in the 2-m band.

Researched Verticals and read Reviews. Have this GP-3 installed on my Roof 40 foot up for close to a year now. No problems–even with nearby Electric storms. Able to hit 2m Repeaters 60+ miles away and the same likewise testing hitting 440 Repeaters– still in progress.

A little bright on the Flat roof but HOA says OK ! Recommend highly for quick and Stealth approach to 2m 440 work. Excellent purchase from DX Engineering with great shipping all around!! ’73 George AA7LX.

This is my first base antenna so I can’t compare it to others. I am taking the Technicians test in 4 days so I can’t test transmission yet. With a Boefang UV5R I am listening to repeaters that are at least 30 miles away with very clear no noise reception.

Connecting the radio to a battery powered computer speaker works better. The antenna is very well made and was at a bargain price compared to the other 2 brands at higher prices. I wrapped the 2 piece joint with plumbers rescue tape.

My feed line is 30 feet of heavy duty RG8 with PL259 connectors. I don’t have an SWR meter yet. The base of the antenna is 8ft off the ground and elevation here is 2,300 ft. I will give an update if I can when I get a license for transmission quality.

So far I highly recommend this antenna.

Installed the Tram antenna this afternoon up on chimney as high as possible @35 ft. I live in a valley also surrounded by tall trees – even the hurricane winds pass over me. Instantly picked up 5 repeater stations on 2 meters; I had none before with a vertical.

All antenna parts were received and seemed to be very good quality with no defects. I was expecting to find and had to pull the center conductor connector out of the top section by two inches in order to mate the two sections.

I also applied silicone sealant to the outside joining connector as is was a little loose. Assembly was easy (5 minutes), and easy mounting by one person. You can’t buy the materials alone for less than the cost of this antenna – great price @$51.

I highly recommend this antenna to anyone needing a good vertical for 2 meters – along with good coax feed LMR400.

I had one of these up on the tower for 15 years and it has held up and worked great all these years. A couple weeks ago a tree fell on the base of the tower and knocked it down so I bought this new Tram antenna that day.

I have it installed now and it works better (being new I guess) than the old one. That is I easily reach repeaters up to 75 miles away on 50 watts, and have consistent reliable QSO’s with closer repeaters / stations on much less power.

Easy purchase from DXE, love the antenna gains. I’m getting several more repeaters now. Easy setup and install. I have it at 20ft above the ground. Great reception and great feedback on signal quality.

I’m using the Icom 2730 for a base.

It’s not as powerful as we’d hoped. Especially compared to our over 25 yr old radio shack antenna of same design but shorter. It seems to real picky as to where u aim it to get in signals. The radio shack antenna picked up signal in a more broad range.

It seems to be more sensitive to atmospheric changes as well. Rain will cause signal loss on some channels. Again not a problem on the old antenna. Some channels are coming in a bit better but the other issues are just about a deal breaker.

Not worth the extra money we paid for slightly better reception.

This replaced a 54 element antenna with definitely improved reception. Distant (50+ miles) stations come in with rarer drop-outs. The material quality is much better than imports. Thicker, sturdier metal and plastic parts.

Still, be careful when assembling. Open by putting pressure nearer to the fulcrum, not at the ends where everything can bend more easily. A real plus that it’s made in America.

Design of downlead box requires a staking of the contacts to 4 aluminum rods. Box is not sealed, only held with 4 plastic tabs, is thin warped plastic and leaks to elements and insects. My antenna lasted less than a year before surface mounted components and board corroded.

Contact with Winegard told me it is only covered for 90 days. That tells a lot that a manufacturer will only warranty a passive item for such a short time. New box is another $25, Winegard says you are on your own.

Very common problem with this antenna. Now in the recycling pile.

Myself and my Parents have been cord cutters for a long while now. A few years ago, during a storm, my parent’s antenna somehow stopped working. We repositioned it and tried running a new line, physically it looked fine, not sure what happened.

So, I bought them a new one, high rating on Amazon but cheap and “Omni” with huge range, it was before I knew what I was looking for. It worked, but was really weak, we couldn’t find a spot to get everything clear and assumed that was as good as it got.

Fast forward to the past month, I installed new LED lights in their ceiling and when we turned the lights on, they looked great, however my dad found a fault, now when he turns the TV on, he has to change the LED lights to low otherwise it scrambles their channels.

I didn’t know that was a think until I did more research and tried some other methods first. Finally, I contacted Antennas Direct, extremely friendly, they explained to me what they had, took my parents address, showed me if I got this particular antenna and aimed it in a section the drew on the picture for visual, they would get as many if not more channels than before.

At the price I wasn’t sure, but they told me if it didn’t work properly, I could send it back no issues. So, I bought the antenna from Antennas Direct, and it arrived really quick. In fact, it showed up right before we went over to my parents for my dad’s birthday, so this is what he got.

My brother and I put it on their roof, pointed it in the direction the tech advised and also verified it to their position app. Turned the TV on and scanned it. Every channel came in crystal clear! No pixelating, no searching for reception, we were in awe at the difference.

Then my brother turned their new LED lights on FULL Power, and EVERY CHANNEL was still crystal clear, we were all in relief. As a side note, we had some storms the rest of the week after we put it up and I reached out to them to make sure things are still good and we didn’t do something dumb and it blew off the roof lol, but my parents said they’ve been very happy, not even the storms caused any issues.

So, yea, in conclusion, I highly HIGHLY recommend this antenna and this company, I greatly appreciate their time with me and answering my “dumb” questions. I feel like I’ve learned something new and will definitely buy again in the future!.
