13 Best 3 Drawer Tool Box (2022 Updated)

I purchased this chest, for use at my gun cleaning bench to provide small parts and cleaning/maintenance items storage. It’s just what I needed to help with keeping the work area neat and organized. The number and size, of the drawers provide excellent space for the various items and tools.

My only criticism is that the tray/closure will not retract completely into the cabinet and protrudes slightly. But, overall, it’s a great little storage piece.

The chest I purchased was advertised as a chest made by Gerstner. After delivery I discovered it was actually made by Gerstner International. Products made by Gerstner International are cheaply made overseas and are designed to undersell the American made original Gerstner.

The top shelf doesn’t slide easily and a drawer pull was missing. I guess I was snookered by Garrett Wade. I didn’t think I had to worry about this company.

It looks like a Gerstner, but is rather cheaply made. I purchased it for a small collection of rocks and artifacts. I’m not sure how well it will hold up over time with that much weight in the drawers.

Drawers are loosely fit, and front cover is difficult to retract due to loose fittings. Fairly lightweight overall.

This kit is a complete set of 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 sockets/ ratchets. I found this to be the most comprehensive yet still portable tool kit on the market which is exactly why I decided to order it. The tool trays are removable to make easy access to the socket set you need.

I found myself removing the tray and setting it next to whatever I’m working on to make the sockets within arms reach. The kit pretty much met all the expectations I had in mind. My only complaint is I wish it had torx sockets instead of the hex sockets.

I visit the junkyard quite frequently and decided this is the ultimate kit to take with me as one of my issues I’ve had in the past has been having the right socket size or type to remove various parts.

I also like how this kit makes it easy to keep track of what sockets/ tools you might have forgotten to put back since every socket has a place in the recessed tray within the box. It makes quick work to verify that you have not forgotten any sockets on the previous jobsite.

I will be purchasing another one to leave in the trunk of my car for comprehensive emergency repairs.

Purchased just over a month ago to compliment the Hilka 9 Drawer top chest to store my leather work tools. The fit and finish is great and has enough storage for my needs. I have lined each drawer with adhesive back felt, so I would like to maybe suggest drawer liners offered as an accessory, but this isn’t a fault just my preference.

Great price from Wilko’s and fast delivery so highly recommended.

I bought this for a middle section for my toolbox which was made by another company. It was a good right. The price from Robert Dyas is excellent; at least £10 cheaper than other suppliers. It was very well packed and protected, including 48 hour delivery from DPD who were excellent as always.

Clearly not professional standard at this price but excellent for a DIY person. No liners provided, the only niggle is that the drawers cannot be taken out should an item fall out inside the chest. I’m very happy with it though.

This is a decent intermediate tool chest which, happily, is an exact fit for some other brands of top & bottom cabinet – not just Hilka. The product is well made and finished. I was, however, a little disappointed to find that the drawer slides do not allow the drawers to extend fully out.

The restricted access makes the chest less versatile than it could be and somewhat limits what you can successfully accommodate in each drawer, as getting some contents in and out can be a bit awkward.

I will give a 3. 5 Star because the drawer and rollers and latch system is very smooth. I ordered the Decked pull out drawers system and for the most part I’m very pleased with the drawers. I have owned an overhead door company for 27 years and I worked in the field for many years with every imaginable tool/utility box ever made.

I recently removed my utility cap from my truck and at this point I only want my tools in my truck bed so I purchased a flat fold up bed cover and the Decked pull out drawers. My biggest complaint is the drawers are right at 6′ deep and when the drawer is pulled all the way out (with NO way of pulling out further) I can’t reach the deepest part of the drawer by about 1′ trying to reach over my tailgate.

So if one of my tools are in the front of the drawer I basically have to stand on my head to get the tool out. I personally don’t see any reason why they don’t make the drawer pull out 1′ more.

First off I do love the Decked system as it is. My friend got me a D box and I liked it so I ordered more and some cross boxes. Great concept but they take up lots of space inside the drawers and do not have much storage capacity inside the boxes due to their design.

I thought that I could have boxes set up for different jobs and different occasions and just switch them out from work to camping. Unfortunately, I was better off just putting everything for every occasion all together just using the dividers.

Now when returning them, I will have to pay for shipping and the tax I paid on the original purchase is not refundable. The staff has been courteous and friendly but now I’m wondering how much this mistake is going to cost me or if I’m just going to be stuck with products that I can’t use.

I am so happy with the Decked system for my Tacoma overall, but some of the accessories are not ideal or even worse, not at all functional. This box is handy. My only thought is it is pretty over-engineered for almost all consumers.

Kudos for making a very strong box, but the downside of all the plastic reinforcement is that it takes up a lot of the interior space and makes the box incredibly heavy and tippy when the lid is open.

I have plenty of commercial grade tool boxes and they are not build with as much plastic as these. I hate to knock them for making a beefy box. But what is sacrificed is interior space and that is kind of the whole point of a protective box–being able to fit stuff in it.

Unfortunately with the steep shipping and restocking fees associated with returns it was not financially practical to return. Lesson Learned. Love Decked, but am conflicted on the expensive, small boxes.

So I ordered the 9 piece Pro Series red cabinets with the bamboo work top in Nov of 2021 and was given several ship dates. Due to Covid materials shortages (understandable) i ended up not taking delivery on the cabinets until April of 2022 and I wanted to wait a few months to give an honest review after using them for awhile.

A little info on myself, I have been a professional mechanic for 30 years and have built both custom cars, motorcycles, and boats over the years and I demand the best in my tools and organization in my workspace.

I began building my “dream shop” last year and did tons of research on what cabinet systems to purchase and kept going back to these New Age Pro cabinets especially after seeing them in the shops of several nationally reknowned car and bike customizing shops on television and online.

As I said the order took quite awhile to arrive but New Age was constantly emailing and updating me on the order process delays which was really nice and kept me at ease. I had called at one point to see where we were at with shipping and the rep couldnt have been any nicer to me, he took the order number and was having some computer issues and said he would call me right back.

I thought “yeah, ok” but 15 minutes later called back with all the info on the order. That is some great customer service right there. They texted and emailed me when the delivery was scheduled and their shipper was amazing also.

On delivery day instead of dropping them at the end of the driveway they were able to load it right into my shop since I was solo and the pallets were extremely heavy to move. I unboxed them and I have to say i was shocked at the incredible quality of the cabinets, it was far beyond what I had expected at that price point.

The cabinets are very heavy duty steel panels, all quality welds, and heavy duty hardware is included. They are pretty time consuming to put together but well worth the time. I assembled these myself but I would definitely recommend a helper, especially if you are not used to moving around heavy things by yourself.

The colors on all cabinet doors matched perfectly and the fit and finish is top notch. Soft drawer and door closers surprised me as its not common except for my Snap-On tool boxes. The bamboo work top looked great and is really heavy and thick with a quality finish on it.

The shelves are super quality, i have them pretty heavily loaded with no distortion or sagging in them. The keys that were included all matched so only 1 key locks all 8 cabinets securely with a full length door lock which was really useful for me.

Aesthetically they look really nice in my new shop and again the quality is amazing. My neighbors and many of my mechanic friends spent quite a bit of time admiring them and everyone has been impressed with the build quality.

I cant say enough good things about these cabinets, if you arent sure I can assure you that you will pretty happy with these as I am. Great job New Age, alot of thought and engineering really turned out a superior product.

My space was limited but I needed extra storage space for tools and extra garage essentials. This storage cabinet fit perfect and has wheels so I can take it to where I need it. I was happy with how solid it is and assembly took about an hour, partly because my Labrador assistant kept laying down in the middle of the assembly area.

Instructions are easy to follow and easy to read. No strange translation issues.

I love this unit, however the three drawers are way too shallow. There are many things that need to be stored and I’m having to find alternative places for them to be stored because they won’t fit. I’m very disappointed.

Great unit, easy to assemble and the instructions were easy to follow. I think I will get many years of good service out of the unit.

I’ve bought this on offer by Screwfix and I’m glad I did so. This system made redundant 2 totes of tools of my carry out routine and I still have quite some space to use. The wheels are excellent in muddy site environment.

There is space for a few additional clip in boxes. After 6 months of use has no signs of degradation at all. The only breakage I had was one of the locking ears broke a corner as I was forcing it out which was partly wrong on my side but this didn’t alter its locking function in anyway.

Now I do the locking-unlocking in a more careful way and had no incidents. One star is out of features as it doesn’t take drawers and one of reliability for the broken ear. The telescopic handle is very beefy and robust allowing very good control of the system and the wheels are big enough to roll and lift easily against stepping heights.

Other than that I would definitely buy again.

I bought the 3 box packout system from HD. Its handy. I store a lot of tools and supplies. I like how the trays are interchangeable with the center box. The slender or top box will not open if it connected to the lower box directly.

The bad. This particular box uses the plastic frame as a hinge locking mechanism. If you look closely at the hinges, there is a tab molded into the lid that rubs against a molded tab on the body of the tool box.

This tab holds the lid up when opened. On my box, this caused the tool box to tear. Now, it accumulates water and my tools are rusting and getting mold growth on them. I am in the landscape construction industry and sometimes work in the rain and snow.

My truck doesn’t have a tonneau cover on it because of the amount of tools I transport. The worst part of it all. I have emailed Milwaukee’s customer service twice. That is the only option given on the website.

I would have preferred to make a call or live chat and get an immediate resolution, but those options are unavailable. I still have not heard back from their customer care. Buyer, beware. A warranty, and a company for that matter, is only as good as it will respond to its customer’s inquiries.

Very solid and well made. And it can fit even more than I imagined it would.

My husband loves it! He can keep his tools all in one place.

This tool box is a great gift item for someone interested in using and collecting tools or hobby supplies. I keep one in the house so I can fill it with tools that are household types of tools like wood and plumbing items so I don’t need to run to the garage all the time to get a certain tool.

I’ve probably had this for well over a year now and for a long time I was super happy with it. But recently something in the middle shelf’s rollers fell apart and know the drawer can fall almost all the way out.

I don’t know if I overloaded it since I don’t see a weight capacity. Also I don’t really trust the flimsy looking plastic handle to carry all that weight and I wish it was metal.

Did my homework to figure out the right size toolbox I needed. This one is perfect. Great quality. Will by more from your website. Recommend to anyone to feel comfortable buying from JEGS!!! Thank You!.

So far since the purchace of this tool box seems to be pretty sturdy. Drawers and slides move with ease. It seems pretty durable for my use. Im sure it cab be better for other peoples useages. Im just glad to have a new box for my tools.

I need to aquire a roll box at some point for some of my other tools and get another one of these for my electroic tools.

I’m using this as a work bench tool storage. For that purpose it’s a fine choice. I would not use it to carry tools from job to job. The latches cannot keep the box top closed while carrying. The sheet metal is a bit thin too.

Needed a tool box for my micrometers, dial indicators, calipers & other precision tools. While I would of liked a Kennedy tool box they’re about six times the cost of this box & this box does basically the same.

Rec’d the item in a couple days in perfect condition. TSC you folks are the best !!!.

Normally I build my own garage work spaces, but with a new house we wanted something that wasn’t just raw lumber. After some digging, I fell on the NewAge Bold series, found the set that would suit my needs and pulled the trigger.

I was expecting to be fighting with these to get everything level, but honestly, they went up in a night. Once you have a locker level and against the wall, everything that connects to it is beautifully levelled for you.

It speaks to the quality control that everything is produced in nice straight lines. I can always find a fault with something, but with these it’s never anything consequential, like the drawers on the mobile cart are a little harder to shut all the way, or the locker doors can flex and wobble a bit.

Nothing will ever be 100% perfect, but these are dang close. I do wish that they were a little more conservative with the keys included in the hardware sets, I’m sure it’s cheaper to just make a million sets that are all the same and everyone needs a key, but I bought an 8 piece kit and I think I have 24 keys.

and the instructions could use some updating to align with product offerings, but they at least made sense. If you’re on the fence because you’re worried about install being difficult, put yourself at ease.

Focus on the locker and get it perfect, and everything else will just about take care of itself. The support team is phenomenal too, really good about following up with answers and not afraid to admit when they have to ask someone else.

I will 100% get a another NewAge system when the time comes.

I received damage products. It looks like either the pallet was bad or someone put it down at a 45 degree angle pretty hard. I called the number newage put on the back of their cabinets for calling in case of damage, and they went above an beyond to replace the damaged pieces.

They were out of inventory and it would have been months to replace, so in order to replace in quick time they went way out of their way and did some extra work on the warehouse floor. They didnt have to do that.

It was a quick phone call with the very pleasant and helpful customer representative Vanessa, and it was done. No stress for me at all, and I really appreciate the effort they had to put in to make that possible.

I love the products themselves. You can tell a great deal of engineering went into where they needed to make them rock solid, and where it mattered less. For example, the feet and the wheels seem like they are indestructible.

The doors close and lock smoothly. They include extra screws and the like in the box. On top of all that, they are modular! So if I want to expand this setup in the future I absolutely can. I’m giving the shipping a lower score because I am betting that’s where someone put this box down at the 45 to hard, or it was rocking on the pallet or something.

I bought thus a few months back. I waited to write this review until it was fully installed and used for a bit. It was easy to install, the instructions covered the “how to” properly. There was a good amount of extra fasteners sent with the product that you don’t have to worry running out or being perfect.

There are extras. The product is well built, solid, has soft glide drawers even when loaded heavy. The drawers came with a felt inside. This makes it comfortable when digging for a tool and keeps tools from sliding.

A great idea and I didn’t know about the feature when I ordered. Nice surprise. Three pieces of constructive criticism: The instructions should highlight the importance of putting the height of the locker to a certain minimum height.

If you put it to minimum as I did, it leaves very little room for the cabinets to fit under the work bench. The under work bench cabinets, two are tool chests and one is a two door cabinet. The chests are on wheel but the cabinet is not.

It would be nice to have the option to put legs or wheels on it, because once installed it will be difficult to move it out from under the workspace. I can certainly see conditions where I want the workbench fully accessible from a sitting position and this cabinet will be in the way.

The top cabinets I installed are level and square. They operate well and are solid to the wall if installed properly. With the door closed, the two doors don’t meet flush to each other, indicating they are not flush or square.

This wouldn’t be noticeable to anyone but me, but it’s frustrating to me. Sadly, the hinges do not have an adjust feature to close the gap. All in all, very happy with this purchase. Great quality and functionality.
