20 Best 3 Gallon Pump Sprayer (2022 Updated)

This is the most basic sprayer you can get. It doesn’t even have a pressure release valve; when you’re finished you have to point the handle away from you and unscrew it. There were two plastic tabs with partially punched holes so you could add your own strap (doesn’t come with one).

I had a strap with split rings and wrestled with the tabs with various small tools but couldn’t punch the holes all the way through. Finally gave up and just filled the sprayer. So you screw the handle until it closes, then press it down and turn a quarter turn back to start pumping.

Only it wouldn’t go a quarter turn. Press it down – it unscrews the lid. I tried repeatedly and finally gave up. The cheapest one was not worth the savings.

Bought this on Amazon, arrived a few days ago and it seems to be built well. Today I tried it out and it will only do a straight-line stream. Tried to adjust and no matter how much I twisted it would not change the pattern to mist.

Can’t stand a sprayer that pushes out a straight line spray. Kinda hard to spray an area with just a straight line stream. I need a new nozzle or sprayer wand, whatever will fix the problem. but will it do the same? Seems to be a common problem over the 30 years Ive been buying pump sprayers, every third one I buy doesn’t adjust to mist.

I just bought this sprayer today. I was looking for a smaller sprayer for intermittent weed control on a small property. I’ve purchased Chapin products before and found them to be good value for the money and I suppose for the price this sprayer sells for it is a decent value.

That said, it could be so much better if the hose was rubber instead of plastic. Straight out of the box the hose was bent in three places from packaging and would not uncoil. It was rigid like a piece of wire and made using the sprayer more difficult to use than it should be.

Over time it may soften up or most likely I will have to soak it in hot water or lay it out in the sun to remove the bends. Four litre capacity sounded like it would be fine, but after using it I realised that I should have spent the extra money for the 8L sprayer.

I recommend doing so.

I love this sprayer! To be honest, my last one was a pain in the bum, but this one is so much better in so many ways! I love the easy to see one gallon jug. It makes it easy to see exactly how much I have left over, and the jug size is perfect for me to carry around my yard and even up and down a ladder for some of my higher vines.

Which, this baby turned out to be amazing at getting to the ivy on my house – I didn’t want to use a wide sprayer, and the included stream sprayer was perfect to get the area where it attaches to my house, and where the vermin are hatching their little vermin eggs, destroying my vines.

I also used this to fertilize some of my spikier agaves that I often can’t get to, and now they are happy little Bob’s. But what I found it really useful for is that ever hateful sidewalk crack grass and weeds! This sprayer is so spot on, I get straight to the root areas and poof! No more nasties.

The 4″ mouth on the jug makes it very easy for cleaning between uses as well, and the super long sprayer hose is a definite perk. But what makes it a true cut above the rest is how sturdy it is. Love this sprayer!.

The Chapin Pro XP sprayer is perfectly sized at 1 gallon for small yards. Easy to fill with a large opening allowing for quick filling with my garden hose. Seals tight allowing minimal pumps to keep spraying and less stopping for additional pumping.

Wand is an ideal length and longer than my previous sprayer. Also made of durable copper. Adjustable nozzle allows for wide or narrow spraying based on your needs. Small enough for easy storage on the garage shelf.

I have a significant problem with Water Shield growth in one of my ponds. This sprayer has great range. The only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars is because I have to do a lot of spraying from my kayak.

The size makes it a bit of a challenge on the kayak. The spray head is adjustable, and better than most of the smaller garden sprayers on the market. It provides great coverage. I’m glad I bought it.

Replaced a 20 year old Chapin sprayer with is one. Now using both, as I got tired of washing the one out to change from insecticide to herbicide. Now keeping two at hand and loving their ease of operation.

A truly great little sprayer.

I’ve been using sprayers from Walmart until I got this sprayer. It works so much better than the other ones I’ve been getting. Holds pressure better sprays better less pumping. Overall the quality seems to be great.

The adjustable nozzle is awesome.

This product is used to spray disenfectant. Helpful during the pandemic. For long term use of chlorine ion based disenfectants best to buy the bleach version of Chapin pumpup sprayer.

I have had numerous plastic sprayers over the years and they always break or fall apart being stored, sometimes they take on the odor of whatever I am using. This metal tank sprayer is fantastic, well made, works great and easy to keep clean.

Great investment and I have gotten a lot of use out of it already.

Overpriced for what it is. I’ve only used this indoors to water plants and the paint on the bottom is flaking off. The hose can’t be taken out easily and it clogs because there’s no filter on the downstem.

Purchased two of these Chapin units, a one gallon and a two gallon. While the housings are metal and holding up, the plungers are fused plastic which allows them to expand and contract. Mine expanded to where it was not possible to separate the plunger from the tank.

In trying to extricate the plunger, the plungers may separate into two pieces as mine did. While the tanks are durable, as long as Chapin sells them with plastic plungers, these are no better than ones that are entirely plastic and as such, sold for far less.

I purchased this sprayer to replace a different brand unit I had been using, no struggling with for years. i am very pleased with the apparent high quality and thoughtful design features incorporated in the sprayer.

The brass spray nozzle is well made and it’s a replaceable part, like other parts on the unit. You can carry the sprayer around by the pump handle without it extending to its top position. My old sprayer handle always came unlocked and the tank dropped downward while I was carrying it.

Annoying. I like the wide mouth tank opening – it’s easier to add chemical and water. i like the white plastic tank that let’s me easily see how much liquid is inside. Overall, I’d say the sprayer is of superior quality and robustness, for a very reasonable price.

I gave it 4 of 5 stars because that’s a more honest and believable rating than 5 of 5.

I bought this sprayer in the spring for use in my high tunnel and outside gardens. Simply put, the best sprayer I have owned in over 40 years of gardening. I did add a longer wand just as my preference.

It works well enough if you don’t mind performing a few repairs/modifications. The holes in the pump handle don’t exactly line up with pump shaft. Drilling one hole slightly bigger fixed that. The shoulder straps attach to the bottom of the frame with plastic retainers that allow them to slide and reposition at will.

Duck tape fixed that. The shoulder straps constantly slip off your shoulders because there is no chest strap. I used a D ring and extra strapping I had laying around to make a chest strap. The sprayer hose attaches nearly in the middle rear so if you drop the sprayer while walking, reaching around to grasp the hose is difficult.

More Duck tape attaching the hose to the right side fixed that. The shoulder straps have very little padding so if you have a lot to spray, consider not filling the tank to maximum to cut down on weight.

This may ease the pain of the wimpy padding on the straps. Other than that, It’s a good little sprayer.

I had used a solo for many years but the last one had a pumping problem after about 5 years of use. I have roses and use a sprayer many times a month, I ordered a Chapin and it worked well for a while but after about 6 months it was hard to pump and spray.

I took it apart and it worked better and the in another 4-5 months, it vapored locked and two hands could not get it to pump. I was back to the solo. Delivery was good and I am so pleased with the sprayer.

No leaking and once you pump, it will spray for awhile before needing more pumping and the adjustable nozzle is very nice. I will stick with this brand.

I Have two of these. One for Insects the other for Weeds. I really like the Clip that holds the wand in its own drip tray. And the pressure release valve is a good feature. I personally dont use the shoulder strap.

I ran over my wand in my garage last year, and it was easy to buy just the Parts. Excellent sprayer for the Price.

So far, so good. Feels more durable than the cheap home sprayers I’ve been using. Assembly is simple enough but the usage instructions are a little vague. After assembly I filled the bottle with a gallon of water and tried the different nozzles to determine exactly what each one did.

Looks like it will cover everything from a strong stream to a medium fine mist with just a nozzle change. It should serve it’s purpose for a long time.

This sprayer is a little more expensive than other brands but it is worth twice the price. You have a choice of multiple nozzles and each works equally well. The punch action retains pressure for a significant amount of time and all hoses are high quality.

I cannot imagine buying a better sprayer than a Smith. You will not regret your decision.

Many of the features are good. The battery life of a charge is long, and it charges promptly. The three gallon capacity is welcome. The weakness is the lack of upright stability. With two wheels close together and a third point that is round it has a lack of balance and tips over frequently unless the lawn is perfectly flat and smooth.

Unstable as a tricycle.

So far I have only had a chance to use this one time. I LOVE IT. It worked as advertised, was easy to fill and still had battery power left after put about 2 gallons of water thru it for a test and then 3 gallons of roundup.

Wonderfully easy to maneuver around, nozzle worked better than any pump sprayer I’ve tried, and was still pressurizing at the end of the day. So far its a GREAT item.

From an engineer: Full tank raises center of gravity high enough to make the sprayer unstable (side to side) due to narrow track width. Makes me wonder if design engineer even attempted use.

I bought this to water plants that were not easy to reach with a hose. So great! And so much better than hauling water in buckets–ouch. The wheels make it so convenient to move around on sidewalks to reach the plants.

It’s not hard to pump to get pressure, even though I don’t have a lot of upper body strength. Of course, it’s a thin stream or spray so watering is slow, but that’s really better for the plants. I really appreciate that I can order parts if I need to in the future, because I try not to buy “disposable” products that can’t be repaired.

For people in condos or apartments, or places that don’t have a lot of faucets, this is a great product. It’s also has small enough footprint that it stores in a narrow shed on my patio.

I bought this Solo weed sprayer for my small garden maintenance business. I wanted something that was easy to transport yet efficient, and that’s exactly what this is. I’ve had two other small sprayers and the nozzles have been dismal, with just a trickle of spray coming out they took ages to do just a small area.

Granted, this Solo model is a bit more expensive but very worth the extra dollars. It is very easy and light to carry and the pump mechanism is great and not at all strenuous. But the main feature is the incredible nozzle and rate of spray.

The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is that it could have some sort of padding on the shoulder strap. It’s fine for a few minutes use, but after 10min the strap started to cut into my shoulder. I fixed it by adding my own strap padding, but it would have been nice for it to have been included.

But threats just a small issue – overall I’m very pleased with my purchase.

I needed to spray some mold removal on my 2-1/2 story house and my cheap pressure washer would not reach the upper story level (I have 10 foot high ceilings) and have well water. I searched for a sprayer that could be charged with an air compressor in hopes of being able to reach upper levels with a spray once solution.

I found one for $185+ and continued searching. I found this SOLO sprayer and decided to give it a try. I was extremely pleased with it. The sprayer is very well built with thick walls and good seals.

The $185 one was steel and could rust out over time without proper care. With the SOLO I can pressurize the unit to just about 50 psi without the relief valve opening and can reach to the upper story of my house.

Also the hand pump works great so that when the pressure starts to decrease in the tank I can recharge it back up to the original charge without having to use the air compressor again. It also comes with the capability of using 4 diffferent spray nozzles even though the variable one works great at all of the settings without having to change to a different nozzle.

Can’t beat the price and quality.

I recently purchased this sprayer to replace an older non-Chapin sprayer. The sprayer is very easy to use and made of quality materials. The stainless-steel construction should not rust over the sprayer’s lifetime.

I use the sprayer around the house to apply fertilizer and for weed control. I also use the sprayer to apply pesticides to scrubs and medium size trees. I am very happy how the sprayer disburses product with the adjustable tip for various applications.

I am able to area spray the yard for weeds with this sprayer, which is a plus over my older sprayer that was more a spot type sprayer. The tank is very easy to clean. The three-gallon tank is a perfect size for going around the house without having to refill as with a smaller tank size.

I am very glad that I purchased this Chapin sprayer and anticipate many years of trouble-free use.

This stainless steel 2 gallon sprayer is well worth its price. The metal plunger is very well made and will withstand years of use if taken care of.

I have been using this sprayer for 2 years now the stand and spray feature makes it very easy to use. The hose and nozzle work great. When you pressurize it by pumping up the handle you can spray for a long time before you need to pressurize again which makes the job go faster, has a spray guard that attaches to the Nozzle area to control where you spray works great when spraying near flowers I use it down the sides of my driveway and walks , it is a great quality product easy to clean up.

I like that it has a pressure relief valve so you can release the pressure once you have finished using it and leave the liquid inside til next time.

This is an excellent product. I like that I can pump more air into the sprayer while standing up. I also like that that the top unsrews very easily compared to my last sprayer where I had to literally pound it off using a rubber mallet when I had to refill.

So far its working great. These types of sprayers do it last long at all….they tend to quit working. Will update after a few months

It is one of the best sprayers I had, and it would be nice if the hose is one feet longer to reach plants that are hanging up on a tree without using step up ladder. Once you release the hand trigger the sprayer will stop without any water residue sprinkling out.

Can’t beat this sprayer for the price!

I think this is maybe my third or fourth purchase of this sprayer. One is dedicated to interior carpet cleaner, another to a weak Dawn solution for GP cleaning. This one will get used in the house with a Dawn solution for the bathroom.

Just pump and spray, vs. hand cramps and constantly failing spray bottle pumps. Saved a couple dollars getting them on sale. No failures yet, after several years use on the first one. I certainly recommend these.

The body and pump are PE plastic, with regular o-rings for the pump piston. The spray nozzle is brass. So long as the chems you use are compatible with these materials, you should see great life from this sprayer.

And realistically, even if you decide to use more “interesting” stuff in it, these are cheap enough to toss and replace when they do finally give up.

I bought this little sprayer to spray at ROCKS! You know, wet them down to better see their colors? I’m a self-taught stonemason, and like to look for field stone wherever I get the opportunity. Sometimes it’s dusty or dirty, and I like to KNOW what colors, textures, shapes, types, etc.

that I’m getting, and a hose isn’t often handy. This fit the bill quite nicely. It wet down several ton of rock all at once! I kept a big jug of water in my Jeep to refill the sprayer, and adjusted the nozzle to a fine mist, and then had a nice cool mist over me while I was making my selections in the baking hot Sun.

That was set on “constant spray”, and it lasted a good 20 minutes, cooling me AND keeping my rocks wetted down, since the sun kept wanting to dry them off. How rude!.

I got 3 of these for my gardener last year, gave one away to a neighbor in need. I didn’t get to use it much, she used it some for putting something on the plants and flowers – I didn’t ask, but nothing died.

We’re prepping for the spring and I found the sprayer on her garden cart, not cleaned from last fall, and so I took it inside, put some soap in it and sprayed away to clean it out. I gave it a vigorous 50-60 pumps, then locked the trigger ON, and let it spray to clean the pump tubes and nozzle.

I had set the nozzle to a middle spray pattern, and just let it run, after 2 minutes, I shut it off, pressure and spray seemed to be steady the entire time (I WAS AMAZED), and tried the same thing again until the liquid ran out at about 1m 45s or so, and it could have easily gone the full 2 minutes again after the re-pump.

This is one great sprayer, easy to use, the half-gallon capacity (64 fl oz), if filled, is about all you would want to try to hold in one hand for any length of time, but it was not uncomfortable to hold or use.

It does what it supposed to, and does it well, cheap enough that if you needed 2 or 3 for various (incompatible?) fluids, it is not a great expense and so on. Glad I got them last year, and maybe even I (non-gardener) will find a use for them this year.

DO NOT FORGET TO DISASSEMBLE THE SPRAYER, CLEAN IT WITH HOT SOAPY WATER SPRAYED THROUGH IT AT THE END OF SEASON, LET IT DRY AND PUT AWAY, UNASSEMBLED, OVER THE WINTER.

I have to say I’ve tried every type of back brace and most would cause more pain from rising up and pinching down on the nerves. This back brace takes a little getting used to if you’re a man ” you’ll understand if you get one ” but well worth it.

I had sciatica pain so bad I could hardly walk but once it warmed my muscles up my back feels 1000% better I can actually move again. No kidding you won’t regret getting it the leg straps hold the back brace in the perfect spot.

Im 6 ‘ 1 , 255 lbs , 44″ waist if your bigger than that try and find one like it but bigger. Im glad I got it I wish I would have got one like this years ago.

Great sprayer, but would have preferred a longer lance. would have gladly paid more for it.

My brother thought this brace was great. It relieves pain. He’s more mobile.

I would absolutely recommend this sprayer. The measurement lines are clearly marked which is helpful when you are using water to mix with the various solutions. Also, the pump action is easy to manage and lock when transporting.

Light enough to carry around, too.

Found it so far very durable, doesn’t feel cheaply made. Feels like it will stand up to my abuse and use. As I said in the title it was easy to set up and use. I was concerned it would be too heavy or awkward for me to carry around and use when filled with water because I am in a wheelchair but that was not an issue at all.

Overall I am pleased with my purchase.

Purchased the Vevor 1 1/2 gal pump sprayer. Looks like I finally got a quality sprayer. Have a dozen plastic ones from Lowe’s that no longer work and only lasted one season, all needing parts. I use it for my fruit trees and like that the spray is adjustable down to a fine mist.

Wish I could get an extension for the wand or the hose was longer. My only complaint is the quality of the plastic hose. It came crimped on both ends, closing off the flow. However, I added a 2″ metal coil spring to both ends and that took care of the crimping problem.

Seems like the manufacturer would address this issue since it is a common problem. It cheapens the whole product which is very good quality otherwise. And coil springs are very inexpensive. I noticed in other reviews that people are cutting off the crimped ends which shortens the hose even more.

I know this is made in China, but I’m sure coil springs are available there too.

This is a fantastic sprayer. It is very sturdy and well built. It came with a shoulder strap and spare gaskets. I like the air pressure indicator, so I can tell when I’ve pumped enough. The release valve was sealed with plumber’s tape, so there is no leaking.

The mouth is wide, so it is easy to pour in whatever I want to spray. All the joints are very secure. The wand holder is very convenient for storage. I bought the one-gallon size. Even when it is full, I can easily carry it around thanks to the shoulder strap.

I am very pleased with my purchase.
