A crankset (in BMX) is the component of a bicycle that converts pedaling motion into rotational motion that drives the chain, which in turn drives the rear wheel. A crankset typically consists of three pieces: the crank arms, the bottom bracket, and the spindle.

Bought this to replace an early 90’s Shimano Deore LX chainset and to stick with the good old tapered bottom bracket. Cranks are a lot chunkier and feel stiffer than the out going cranks. Shifts really well from one ring to the next.

This SRAM product has steel ring gears and aluminum crank arms. I installed it on an old Specialized Rock Hopper. It replaced a Sugino all aluminum square taper crankset. I found that the Sugino Crankset wore out its aluminum gears and the bicycle’s steel chain prematurely.
Aluminum and steel grind on each other because the aluminum forms aluminum oxide, which is a very tough abrasive, and is actually a compound used in making cut -off wheels for cutting steel. My bicycle has an ISO, or European square bottom design, as opposed to a JIS, or Japanese design.
There is a slight difference between the two designs. This SRAM crankset fit well on my bicycle, and with a new chain, the bicycle is functioning like new. The teeth on the ring gears grab the chain well, and there is no slippage.
It’s not so easy to find the right replacement crankset for an older 8 speed MTB. I was looking for another Truvative like the one which came with my bike, and didn’t know it was made by SRAM. Finally found this which actually says Truvative on the outer chainring.
It is only slightly different than the original one, in that the two smaller chainrings each have 2 fewer teeth. Thats not a problem, as that’s just going to lower the gear ratio for the steeper hills.
I used a Shimano113mm square taper bottom bracket and it fits perfectly. Also fitted it with SRAM X4 shifters and derailleurs. I’m happy with it. Thanks SRAM !.

It starts with the 30mm aluminum alloy spindle and Cinch mounting platform that you ll find across their line. It then adds on two machined aluminum crankarms that are brutally strong. It s not only the pedaling and g forces they can withstand, but the grinding, slamming crashes that are part and parcel of riding out too far on the edge.
The crank comes with two arms, spider, pre-load adjuster and lock ring. You need to source the bottom bracket and either direct mount chain ring or 104/64mm or 120/80mm spider (available in both standard and Boost spacing).
It also can be setup for BMX with a BMX spindle and 104mm spider. If you want to go with super Boost or wider bottom brackets, wider spindles are available. So, too, is a Cinch power meter spider. Crank lengths are 165, 170, and 175mm.
Love the cranks! (and the colors!) However I’ve had two issues, the cranks regularly came loose so I had to cover them inn loctite, this issue could probably be solved with spacers. Issue two was the plastic preload adjuster.
I bought a helm preload that is metal and works great, but the cranks were almost $200, the fact that ANY component was plastic is extremely disappointing. I solved both issues and am pretty happy with the cranks, just the little things.
The shorter cranks are definitely easier on the knees and a lot fewer peddle strikes but it sould come with a 1mm spindle spacer or two. The preload adjuster needed to be turned until there was only one thread left engaged.
Seems to be holding but I would have prefered a little tighter fit between the cranks and BB, spacers would solve that problem at virtually no cost and give you an additional option to adjust the chainline.
I was looking for a 30mm spindle crank for a frame build out and I was thinking about shelling out for another Hope crankset when I decided to go with the Atlas. I had a set of Turbine Cinch cranks a few years ago and they were pretty good but the Hope was better.
I have to say that the Atlas was easy to install and has been absolutely trouble free since I bought it. If you are thinking about going for this setup I wouldn’t hesitate as the build quality here is really good and the cranks have stood up to Arizona terrain which is rocky with a side of rocky and rocky sauce on top.
I went for 170mm crank length here and that measly 5mm difference over your standard 175mm length has been eye opening. The plan is to acquire another Atlas crankset for my Warden as I really like it.
Dumb vanity point – being able to mix and match narrow wide chain rings in different colors with the cranks is a plus as well.

Sure, there are other crank sets that are copied to Redline specs, and or looks, but if they aren’t true Redline, then there it is, it speaks for itself! Been riding these cranks for years now. Most durable and sturdy cranks out there. Haven’t had any issues besides them loosening up once. Treat you bike to something nice and get it a pair of these.
Well, not too much to say. It doesn’t get better than this. They’re within striking distance of the lightest cranks available but they’re tougher and beautiful. These went on a Ti hardtail but they’d be perfect for any mtb.
Used a Praxis thread together PF30 bottom bracket and it spins for days creak free.

I crashed and bent my crank on a Trek Powerfly 8 with a Bosch CX motor. I needed a new crank so I went for the SRAM EX1. The old crank was a Micanda and it required a puller tool to remove. The new SRAM EX1 only needed a hex key to mount/unmount it.
The SRAM EX1 looked far sturdier than the Micanda but the SRAM EX1 was 8. 9 ounces and the Micanda, with mounting screw, was 8. 1 ounces. I’m happy with the new crank but it did add 1. 6 ounces to the total weight of the bike.

Cranks themselves are awesome. Super light, look great. Kinda spendy, but the 1x conversion dropped ~600gr off my wife’s bike! The instructions are woefully lacking. These are the Gravel cranks (not specified on Jenson, but determined by cross-referencing weight with E*Thirteen website).
Instructions don’t work for gravel cranks. You want the UL chainring for a gravel bike with no spacers, and the bottom bracket sold on Jenson is the wrong one (plastic tube is too long). E*Thirteen sells the right one, or just recommends ditching the tube and putting extra grease in the middle.

I bought this only for the cranks and even with the whole unit it was the cheapest option I could find for a set of new cranks. They look smart and ride well but I am not using the bearings provided so I can not make any review for the whole product.
