20 Best 3 Point Fertilizer Spreader (2022 Updated)

I had high hopes for this spreader, but some things prevent me from recommending it. 1: When it arrived, the axel was too short, and both wheels wouldn’t fit onto it with enough room for them to turn freely.

They were restricted from turning because they were pinned against the hopper frame. 2: The arm that adjusts the shut off plate doesn’t work properly, because of the play that exists between the control rod and the adjustable connecting rod vs it being 1 solid arm.

Because of this, when I am setting the adjustable handle, it doesn’t move synchronously, with the shut off plate. 3: After I set the lock nut on the gauge and lever assembly, I’ll sometimes have to manually pull the adjustable connecting rod to get the shut off plate to move due to the play between the control rod and the adjustable connecting rod.

Trust me, this is a headache when you’re spreading seed and need to adjust the shut off plate. Either too much comes out or not enough, and it takes a few tries to get it just right. 4: The wingnut is just a piece of plastic covering a metal nut.

As I was tightening it, the wingnut came off (stripped), and it didn’t fit securely after that, making it useless. Fortunately, I was able to purchase a metal wingnut (which should have been included from the beginning!) and carry on.

A big concern for me is the QA on these things. They’re marketed as a professional spreader, but they don’t seem to have professional QA folks checking them. For the life of me, I cannot understand why they would want to cut corners with a plastic wingnut when a metal one would do the job much better and be more in line with their claim of it being a professional spreader.

I get saving money, but is that worth your reputation? That said, I am not able to recommend this product.

The spreader works as promised. The larger wheels roll much easier. The solid build quality is nice. It distributes well and can hold more material and still roll and handle well. The plastic bushing drawn in the instructions does not mention that the bushing pictured is actually a two piece fit together single bushing.

It was no biggie though. The height adjustable handle is also very nice. Happy with the purchase.

Needs a larger “agitator” to get fertilizer to fall thru openings into the spinning disc that throws it on the lawn. Many times not enough product us dropping thru and it’s only throwing to left side of spreader.

Also. A paper instruction manual is a must. Constantly (unlocking)looking at your phone to look at pictures and steps is ridiculous.

Bought this a few weeks ago Excellent quality, like the enclosed gear box to protect it from corrosive materials. All parts/materials are of good quality. BUT. 3 problems have shown up 1. ON/OFF lever is way too short to reach from mower 2.

Lever does not stay open when going over bumpy areas, almost closes and shuts off the flow 3. Rate adjustment calibration marker tends to move fairly easily when the on/off lever is turned off, moving the calibration mark Have tried several things to correct these, contacted support, their recommendations did not correct the problems.

No solution for short lever either. needs new design to make it longer. May resort to using a bungee cord to hold the on/off in place, working on making the lever longer?????.

I bought this a month ago and had it delivered to my home. The layout of all the fasteners and parts on a card by section was great. The instructions were well written and easy to understand. The unit came with separate instructions in at least three languages.

It was easy to assemble and had everything I needed to attach to my compact JD tractor. The throw of the material I applied seemed perfect. Fortunately, it rained soon after and hopefully the product soaked into the ground and will do its thing to take care of the grubs.

The unit seems to be very well made and should last for years.

I bought this fertilizer spreader b4 spring and it spreads fertilizer evenly. I discovered the one- direction feature so I could run it close to my front decorations but not spread on them. Very nice to not need to estimate the distance I needed to be away from front decorations.

Oh yes, the lever to open and close the pathway to drop the chemicals really works. It has a thick sheet strongly tied to the lever. Other makes only worked a short time before there was “play” between the level and thin plastic material closing the drop shute.

I like the very large wheels that make it easier to push around the on the lawn. It spreads evenly. I gave it only 4 stars because the assembly instructions were not as clear as they could be and some of the parts do not exactly match the pics/diagrams.

Fortunately there is a very good Youtube video that helps. It also does not hold nearly 50 lbs of fertilizer. I could only fit about half that amount in the hopper. Finally, for me, that controls are reversed what from I have had on previous spreaders.

Others push down to go and pull up to stop. This is just the opposite. But, overall, worth the rather high cost.

This spreader was used and so I did not pay full price. I have not used the spreader yet but it seems like it will be great. It was not to hard to put together but the instructions are not super easy to follow.

The instructions look like they have been photo copied multiple times and its hard to know which direction is left and right while assembling. But the black and white diagrams do help to follow along step by step.

I have read a lot of negative reviews about the cheap Scotts spreaders. This spreader has a nice bucket payload area and pneumatic rubber tires. I also like the way the edge protector is supposed to work.

It looks like when you dont want it to throw fert on the left side you close off 2 of the 3 holes. This makes the fert land on the front area of the spinner disk causing the material to go to the front and right of the spreader and skip the left.

For full coverage you open the edge protector lever and all 3 holes are open to the desired coverage setting on then handle operated lever. Seems like it will be a very nice feature. I am excited to try this spreader!.

Consider buying this only if you are very handy and have some good tools. Mine arrived with NO instructions. (I was able to download them from earthway. com. ) Do you know what HHCS, FHPS, and HHMS mean? You have to assemble it almost from scratch, and believe me that is tricky.

I had to enlarge 2 holes using a special abrasive drill bit, in order to get bushings to fit. Anyway the overall design and workmanship are about equal to the other brands: definitely not rugged. I’ll see how long it lasts.

It’s a lot of money for something basically fragile. Maybe I should have gone for the cheaper brands.

Let’s talk about a piece of equipment that actually provides what is named for. This broad cast spreading machine has multiple functions and allows you to use it all year long. Last fall we air rated the lawn and had to over seed it just to get our yard back to what it use to look like.

At that time we had this tiny little spreader for the over seeding process. It worked but took more time. Since getting the broad cast spreader I have used it for salting the long driveway. Thia thing is a beast and had the driveway completed in minutes.

It took two passes and yet it did not seem to clog up. I was entirely impressed. It’s very easy to put together and very durable. I’m so impressed with this spreader that when spring arrives I may have to do my neighbors yard as well.

If you are in the market of saving time and money you have hit the jackpot! Did I mention that it very easy to push or pull? No more straining. I would highly recommend this product to anyone and can’t wait for spring! No cons at this time.

Spreader components are thrown loosely into box with no packaging material to protect it from damage. The instruction manual is written incorrectly. Missing nuts and bolt. Some of the hardware was found unsealed laying in bottom of the box.

The tires rub against the bolts that attach the stand to the frame. The bottom of the bin is not flat so it will leak material and cause the flimsy flow plate to bind.

I own a landscaping company and I would like to say that this spreader is value for money. It is a good size spreader and I used this winter and it worked. I’m really surprised with this one it was easy to control and it covers great.

Also, I can use it to fertilize the grass. This is an excellent multitool, the instructions were easily to understand and the durability of this spreader is just great. I would like to add that the tires and wheels are heavy duty.

Finally this one was easy to assemble, easy to use, sturdy and well made product.

The spreader is well made, especially for the price given what else is out there these days. I’ve used the spreader once running about 100# of fertilizer through it. Here are my observations so far. Pretty easy to assemble, the directions seem a bit daunting at first given the size of the manual, but once you realize the manual is written for about a dozen different languages, it isn’t so bad.

The adjustment for the drop slide isn’t quite right in the book, it says 1/2″ showing on the ends of the rods, make that like 1/4″ or the slide doesn’t fully close and the first time you use it you’ll end up with a pile of product under the spreader.

When you adjust it and the handle is in the fully closed or off position, if you look under it and see any of the drop holes, it isn’t closed far enough. One thing I did notice upon assembly is the finish on the parts is on the wrong side of awful.

You can tell these metal parts were just painted quick and heavy then thrown in a pile, the paint is marred from touching other parts while wet. The tires are not as shown in the picture, those tires are actually rubber.

The ones that come with the unit are cheap plastic tires (you know the ones, you can find great examples on the HF shelves). I don’t know how long they’ll last, but I’m guessing not very. It is these two reasons why the spreader only gets 4 stars (and the misrepresentation of the tires in the photo.

) Using the spreader is easy. It is designed for use behind a tractor so reaching the handle is easy, if you have a tractor type mower. I have a ZT like many do these days so you really can’t reach the handle.

You can either play the “open the chute and run to the drivers seat before it drops too much product” game or tie a rope to the handle and pull it open and go. You just cannot close it (can’t push a rope).

The spreading is uniform and it will dump about as fast as you pull, the internal rotors are connected to the tires so spin the tires, spin the rotors, dump the product. This replaced a broadcast spreader and is much more even.

The broadcast spreader would only consistently throw weed killer when I was near flower beds it would seem. Overall, this is a great spreader. It takes longer to do the lawn than with a broadcast obviously but it does a much better job.

Get the settings right and you can just fertilize while you mow and not worry about it. It works great with clumpy material because the rotors at the bottom chew it up vs the broadcast which usually just throws the clumps around in the hopper.

Because it drops you can get close to areas you don’t want to cover and be consistent with coverage. Great spreader.

Throws fertilizer against rear of tow machine. Fertilizer corrodes the metals of the tow machine. I made a cardboard shield to prevent the fertilizer from slinging forward against the tow machine. The agitator piece which rotates within the tub should be high quality stainless steel.

This piece corroded imediately after first use even though thoroughly rinsed following use. The slope of the tub is not quite steep enough in the bottom such that it will not completely empty. The on/off lever should be designed with a different shape so the operator can reach it while the tow machine is moving.

You need to be able to stop flow of fertilizer while still moving.

Fair amount of assembly, packaging was okay with parts loose in big box. Assembly was done in 2 hours with power driver, rachet and wrench; pay attention to what to leave loose as you will remove nut to put on strut under later.

Clear coated all shiny zinc hardware and where paint had rubbed in shipping (couple small spots) to delay rust. V. good broadcast radius, even flow. Replaced a 30 year old Agway spreader that could not be repaired again.

Rinse out top and bottom after use if you want it to last. A bit heavy, bulky when hanging up on garage wall to save space. Bought on sale at Lowes for a fair price, took a week to deliver at store and curbside pickup into my pickup with tonneau closing fine.

Very solid construction, substantial capacity; pneumatic tires are a real plus. Assembly was time consuming though if you wanted to do a second one it would be quick and effortless. A couple of parts required minor modification to fit as intended—not significant enough to lower rating.

Was missing one part. Customer service (in USA) was extremely nice to deal with. Part arrived two days later. Shopped and read reviews of many alternative choices. I think this was a great choice. Purchased for lawn seeding etc.

, but will be excellent for salting my long driveway.

My Cyclone was finally beyond repair while her 43 years of service was great. I bought the Scott’s Deluxe Edgeguard spreader as a replacement but quickly found it was grossly out of adjustment and could not be adjusted so back it went.

Also, the Scott’s tended to bounce and the hard tires did not go over roots, bumps well. Enter the RB -60! Although a bit pricier than alternatives, you get what you pay for! The quality is immediately apparent as so as you spread that first bag of fertilizer.

Easy to set up out of the box and easy to set the spreading rate. Easy to manuever and rolls well over rough terrain with the pneumatic tires which you can adjust the pressure to match your terrain. The only suggestion I have for Echo is the speader settings could be made “continuous” rather than fixed settings (the Cyclone had this and allowed me to dial in the setting I wanted).

This spreader is on par with my Echo chainsaw and string trimmer. They build great tools at a reasonable price!.

For the price, I don’t think you can get a better spreader. Sure, she’s no Lesco, but at this price point it’s a huge leap in convenience and quality from a Scott’s spreader of any model. Don’t think the clearance between the agitator and the hopper is that big of a deal.

It keeps the agitator from binding and does it’s job until there’s just a tiny bit left. The flat bottom of the hopper is just too big to make that much of a difference in the agitator placement, the agitator would have to be 6 inches across and that would offer so much resistance when full it would break the gearing or be too hard to push.

I do wish Echo would offer some accessories to really take this up, like a hopper cover. Also, I am disappointed it’s a spring loaded door and not a pushrod style. Surely engineering and producing that can’t add more than $20 per unit but I digress.

This is a perfect spreader for people with smaller yards that just can’t justify a $400 Lesco spreader.

I have used a Scotts spreader for all my lawns for over 50 years. My sister bought a spreader that pulled behind my Cub Cadet. I tried it, but the settings were confusing and I didnt want to over-fertilize.

I researched many videos – was astonished how poorly the Scotts design Speedy Green was, and how poorly it spread. I watched the Lawn Care Nut – Allyn Hane where he rated this sold me! Bought it and I was super pleased with the operation and how it spread! I have an acre lot, which I used to dread due to the Scotts.

This spread evenly and further cut the time – Im SOLD!.

I have been a garden market farmer for better than 25 years of my life and Ive always used an earth away planter. I decided it was time to try something different and looking at this. the planter it has a lot of the same designs.

same basic construction but its more heavy duty a lot of the plastic was replaced with steel it doesnt have a lightweight aluminum frame its more of a heavier duty version over the earthway. having the closer thats behind the seed drop its very efficient! Im not finding myself going back behind and closing in behind the seed.

The planter by far is a much better upgrade over the old standby earthway. The hopper holds a whole lot more seed which works nice for planting pumpkins cucumbers zucchinis corn your larger seed items.

Planting palletized beats is really a dream with this machine it works so much better I dont have to hold the light side having the taller handlebars and actually having a handle across the top instead of just two bent pieces of aluminum makes it feel like you actually have something instead of a set of walking stakes looking for water.

I highly recommend this planter over the earth away the seed plates are pretty much the same thing again its probably nothing more than an upgraded version but by far for $100 you cant go wrong. Having the wider wheels the seed closing wheel in the rear is amazing.

Im not sure if it was just my excitement when I first received this planner but with the earth way it would take me better than two days to plant around 2 acres of vegetables with this planner I find myself doing it in less than a day.

I hope this Little review helps anyone decide. I mean there is no right from wrong in gardening!! some people just do it different than others. Im a 6 foot 4 guy. That finds it to hurts to bend over.

I just got my Chapin 8700A Chest Mounted Spreader recently. First of all, the design is really smart. The spreader mounts to the chest area with an adjustable strap. The strap is real sturdy. The only assembly was the hand crank, which was easy to snug with a wrench.

The instruction were clear on everything, and well written. There are a couple of settings like the gap of material to pass gate, a material mouth director over the spreader wheel, and a side guard. The hopper amount is large enough to do a large area.

I like the way I can fill the hopper and (for instance) feed with pellets my front yard and back yard without having to refill the hopper. If you have home turf grass like I do, it is nice to not have to refill when doing the front and back, a great feature for the average home owner like me ( I am getting older and don’t want to walk to the bag to refill all the time ).

The unit has a real easy left hand gate control by just pulling the the palm trigger. The hand crank is large and smoothly rotates the spreader wheel. The side guard is adjustable for the “side throw”.

There is an inner mouth piece that is adjustable just over the spreader wheel. I can control the direction completely with the side guard and the mouth piece that I just talked about. Going back to the hopper for a second,– the lid on the hopper is large and has a leash on it.

Nice to have a lid that is easy to grip, and will not go far due to the leash. The whole unit is very light and comfortable. A real joy to use for the professional spreader on big jobs, or for the average home owner.

I have had other spreaders, but this one blows them away. I fed my lawns easily and smoothly. My old spreader would jam and get material in the gears. This unit avoids all that, and now I actually enjoy feeding and seeding with the Chapin 8700A spreader.

It’s too early to weed and feed the lawn in my area but I have to tell you about the Chapin 8700A Chest-Mounted Spreader I have. This has a large opening for seed that includes a really good secure locking mechanism.

It holds up to 35 lbs of seed, not that I need that much but it’s a time saver. The padded strap for your neck is comfortable and it’s easy to hold. I think the best feature, (I consider myself and expert) is that your can adjust not only the flow rate of the seed or product your spreading but it has a deflector that keeps the seeds from flowing into your neighbors yard.

It’s like a yardstick that keeps the spray in line. It’s a pretty good size and only weighs about 7 lbs when it’s filled with the seed. Easy to hold and turning the handle when you’re walking with is is a breeze.

Great device, excellent see coverage and well made. This is my new best product.

As a DIY spreader, this thing is an animal, relative to its smaller siblings. Prior to this spreader I had one of the smaller spreaders on the market that came with plastic wheels. I never understood the plastic wheel concept given the fact that wheel rotation is required for rotor rotation, and a lot of times there’s just not enough traction between the shiny bare plastic wheels and grass/whatever surface you’re running along.

That brings me to one of my favorite things about this Elite spreader – the large foam-based wheels – no issues with traction and rotation of the rotors! Other notable features are of course the large bin – I have a quarter acre, which, while not huge, required me to previously conduct two fills of the bin with smaller spreaders.

One fill here and I can easily cover my entire yard with product to spare. Dual-rotors are also nice as it makes for a larger spread with each pass, and lesser passes overall. And, lastly, I appreciate the edge guard being controlled up near the handle, vs.

needing to bend down and manually engage the edge guard at the rotor with the smaller spreaders (first world problem, I know). 4 out of 5 stars though seeing as there’s just so much plastic involved in the spreader’s construction.

I probably shouldn’t be surprised at this, but it makes me wonder how this will hold up over time, especially at this price point.

I initially purchased my Scotts EdgeGuard spreader over 10 years ago. I’ve used the heck out of that spreader and it served me well. You know how you are so used to using something that you don’t realize what you are missing? Well that is exactly what happened with my other spreader.

I got this upgrade and wow what an improvement. I didn’t realize how much I was stooping while spreading fertilizer and grass seed. I am tall and it wasn’t until I used the Elite Spreader that I understood how much it helped my posture and aided the ease of spreading.

The Elite Spreader not only stands taller than the other spreader, I have appreciated several improvements. First, the wheels are larger and more rugged. I have some uneven parts of my lawn. I was able to navigate those areas without issues.

Second, there are two spreading mechanisms which helps prevent clogging. My old spreader only had one and, while still useful, I didn’t realize until now how much more efficient two mechanisms would help distribute the fertilizer or seed.

Third, the Elite Spreader still has Edge guard which is invaluable when spreading in areas of the lawn that are landscaped. The mechanism that initiates the Edgeguard is easy to use and activate. Fourth, this edger “rides” so smooth.

I felt I was able to walk at a normal pace with the edger without having to take smaller steps. I can’t recommend it enough.

My husband had the opportunity to assmble and utilize our Scotts Elite Spreader on multiple occassions now. This spreader is super easy to assemble, as you simple unfold to snap spreader handle into place and mount tires with provided pins.

We have just under 1 acre of lawn between our front and backyard and are always looking for a way to mitigate our lawn labor. The Scotts Elite Spreader is simple in design, yet effective. Simply pour your seed/fertilizer, etc.

into the basin, select your spreader setting, pull lever and go. We did find that on occassion, some fertilizer would pool on the interior wheel and fall off, perhaps making our spread less than ideal.

Despite this, my husband loves that this spreader covers a 6ft width, minimizing passes needed for full lawn coverage. The edge guard is another great feature that allows us to shut the right side of the spreader off so as not to hit fencing and other perimeter barriers while seeding.

The smartphone holder, while a cool feature, is an extra we wont personally use (seeding isnt a long enough chore). However, somebody with a large enough lawn may enjoy listening to music or having phone access while working.

Overall I like this spreader but seed doesn’t spread consistently as even but there are a lot of factors, your speed etc but does the trick. It’s better than walking over acreas with a small one which, with your movement, is not consistent either.

As it gets low gravity doesn’t work well to consistently get seed out. I have zero turn and could not reach the handle to open as I want so as soon as you open it when full the seed is just pouring out until you get back on mower and get going.

I will rig something to help me do that better, a hook or something. It was okay to put together. Liked the parts vacced to cardboard with descriptions but it would have been nicer if instructions said, use panel.

this or that like on sweeper that you sell. It’s easy to see if something is missing which is nice. Wheel assembly instructions could be clearer as which way to face hub bar. It’s no 30 minutes to do project by any means but it’s a very nice product when done.

The on/off handle assembly is tricky.

Bought if a couple months ago Assembly was pretty straight forward, no issues there. First use was yesterday. Fertilized on 2 acre rural lot. The only issue was if not paying attention, if you go through a bumpy are, the flow control lever will move and close the hopper hole.

So i spent a lot of the time reaching back and holding the lever open (luckily i could just reach it). I will jimmy rig something to keep it in place at next use I also noticed when driving at recommended speed it does not broadcast far (maybe 6 feet total).

So i sped up some, and it broadcast much further Overall i am happy with it.

I’m a senior woman who does not have a lot of mechanical experience, so I invested in a spreader because I got tired of lugging ice melt bags around my property I recently purchased the Brinly 50 lb.

Push Spreader | P20-500BH for the use of ice melt, not a cheap item. I read all the glowing review’s from current owner’s. However I did not have such experience’s. First of all, the manual is TERRIBLE! Show’s only the handle assembly, does not name or instruct any of the other parts.

The lever (On/Off) was installed at the factory on the wrong side of the handle, this was discovered after about an hour trying to get the opening in the basket to open and release ice melt. So, then I proceeded to activate the dial on the bottom of the basket, it is WHITE PLASTIC WITH WHITE NUMBER’S, REALLY? And there’s no indication as to the starting point.

OK, I started walking and opened the lever, spreading started, then quit! I took off the cover and the ice melt had created a “doughnut effect” so that the ice melt was all along the side’s of the basket and not over the opening.

However the ice melt was still on the bottom of the outside spreader so when I shook the spreader to level the ice melt, it dumped-out a large amount on the cement. So the spreader is sitting in the garage, and I’m praying for no snow.

Overall this Brinly Push Spreader is fantastic. I purchased this product about a year ago and have spread a multitude of granular products for the lawn since then, getting even coverage each time. The bar style controls for opening and closing the hopper trapdoor was the main selling point for me, as it lets me more precisely dial in the rate at which I am wanting to dispense granular product.

Bonus, this spreader is solidly built and easy to maneuver around the lawn. Thinking continual improvement, I do wish that the bottom of the spreader had some taper to it. As when the granular product gets low (last 1/4 to 1/2 inch), I find myself having to shake the spreader a bit to get all of the granular product out the hopper.

Again though, overall a fantastic, solidly built spreader at a great price point that looks like it will last for years to come.

It’s winter right now so this review covers only the build & apparent quality. The spreader comes almost fully assembled (just need to extend the handle in place with a couple of bolts/nuts). It appears to be well made and quite sturdy.

It pushes fairly well and the rubber tires seem to give it overall better grip than solid hard-plastic tires. I like that the spinning spreader disc is mounted above the tires so that content is thrown out properly instead of collecting in the wheel hubs.

The top grate is a nice feature to have to help break apart content that is poured into the holding bucket area. However, a couple things to note: 1) the bottom exit opening is not one large opening but a group of smaller openings which could still cause an issue with clogging if the content used is a bit damp.

2) above these small openings the spreader has a shaft that rotates when the wheels begin to turn. On this shaft there is only a 3. 5″ long R-clip cotter pin that spins around with the shaft. It is supposed to help break apart the product in the bucket but because it is so short in length (compared to the 12″ diameter bucket) it seems like it will be very limited in the “breaking up” effectiveness as the content passes by to pour out the small group of holes at the bottom.

I decided to pull out the R-clip and replace it with a 7″ stainless steel rod at 3/32″ in diameter (it’s too difficult to feed anything longer into the shaft while the bucket is in place) to give it more effective mixing while the wheels are turning.

Still have yet to try it out this spring so will report back later.

I purchased this from Home Depot as a replacement for one of a different brand. Super easy to assemble with clear instructions. The assembly hardware came in packet with all parts separated and labeled to match the instructions.

Tip: if you’re assembling outside, use the box or a table to raise it off the ground. I’ve used it once, but I have a few acres to cover. The spreader has large pneumatic tires with a wide axel for stability.

Our property has some hills and it performs excellent. All of the parts seem to be really sturdy and pulls behind my mower without a lot of bounce. The flow control handle is high on the toe tube making it really easy to reach back to manage the product flow.

The only thing I see right now that could be improved upon is the hopper. I say this because the bottom is wide which prevents a lot of the product from getting to the gate. So basically you have the option of stopping and physically moving your product to the gate or just go refill.

Unfortunately I cannot offer a work around as I’ve only used it once. If with this small inconvenience, I highly recommend this spreader!.

I bought this spreader last week. Assembly took a few hours. The components were well organized in the vac-pack. The quality of the components was excellent. I used it twice the next day. There are two concerns.

1) With the hopper having a flat bottom, it does not fully empty. An obvious design flaw. 2) When calibrating the opening of the hopper door, instructions state you do it with the pointer on number 10.

In that case, the scale is at 1. 5 when the door opens. I calibrated it with the door just closed and the pointer at 0. This was more accurate.

Assembly was quite easy, instructions well written. I wasn’t sure of my ability to spread my fertilizer without leaving stripes, so I spread at 50% the recommended rate, and went over the lawn twice – left to right first, then top to bottom.

Worked perfectly for me. I do agree with one previous review though, the handle to control the feed is way too short to reach from my John Deere X350 lawn tractor. I simply zip-tied a length of old broom handle on to extend the length, and that worked great.

I do wish Brinly offered some kind of extension, their design is so well done everywhere else.

Looking for a good spreader. Ordered this after reading reviews. The set up was a bit problematic the set screws not tightening – when in use handle keeps moving. Since this brand is not on bags, liked how they gave you settings.

Set for 3 if bag states y 15K sf per bag. HOWEVER, product would not / could not move and application was iffy; had to set for 5. Toward end of fill in hopper device became unwieldy and dumped handfuls of product on lawn (happened twice) killing grass.

Ended up using an old Scotts. I now have a good looking paper weight in the garage.

Ordered online and ard arrived in a few days to be picked up at my local store. Very easy to assemble. No tools required. Flip the handle up, tighten the wing nuts, put air in the tires and you’re ready to go! I’ve used this once so far to apply Scott’s Turf Builder and I must say I am thoroughly impressed with how this spreader functions.

Fertilizer comes out at a nice even rate. The SideSpread-Control works flawlessly, keeping the spread in front and to the right. Tubular steel frame with foam grip on the handle. The unit is very easy to push over uneven terrain, even with a full hopper.

I thought my old Scott’s 1000 spreader was pretty good but this EarthWay EV-N SPRED puts it to shame! So glad I spent the extra money to buy a nice, easy to use, well built fertilizer spreader! Highly recommended!.

I’ve only used it once but my initial thoughts are it works well. Difficult to know where to set the drop volume. They need to include a better chart for the settings. The only problem I experienced is you really need to lock down the thumb screw that holds the drop setting.

I looked down and noticed it had moved forward from 12 to 20 after I had shut it off several times while turning at the end off runs. Very light and rolls well on pneumatic tires.

I have used a Scotts Spreader for 18 years, ever since we bought our house. I am conscientious about my lawn, so i spread fertilizer, weed control and other products, such as insect controls, as well, so my spreader has seen its share of usage.

My spreader of choice has been the Turf Builder and has served me well, or so I thought. My yard is 3/4 acre and has areas that are hilly and bumpy. With the Turf Builder, I would often have to balance the spreader so it didnt tip over and spill its contents.

Enter the Elite Spreader! I felt like I was pushing a monster truck as I scurried up, down, over and around my yard, with minimal effort and maximum joy. The wheels are majestic and fully capable of taking on everything I threw at it.

The Elite has a large hopper that can cover my entire yard. No more refilling for this guy! There’s also a smartphone holder, which made me wonder why they didn’t add a beverage holder too. But i finished in no time at all, so I was able to enjoy my beverage much sooner than before.

Adding a beverage hder wouldve been superfluous. Finally, I believe I saw a few of my neighbors admirining me from their yards, with what I can only describe as feelings of longing and unworthiness. The Scotts Elite Spreader proves that bigger IS better!.

Mainly bought it for spreading sand on the driveway in winter, and it works great! I’ve used it for seed and fertilizer as well. For sanding, you’ll have to construct some side baffles as this thing will send it about 30 – 40 feet wide.

And yes, contrary to what’s out there on the Internet, it does work with a quick hitch if the top hook (on the QH) is adjustable. it’s the only way I’ve had it attached.

I purchased this spreader to replace an older pull behind tow model from a different company. What a difference it has made. It’s very easy to install and operate. Controls work great, and there is a nice distribution chart on it to help with which setting to use to figure out how much per acre you want to put down.

Highly recommend it!.

Bought this a few months ago and have used it to spread lime, fertilizer, and seed. Spreader works great and I love the fact that it is poly which won’t corrode. Very pleased with this unit.

This smaller spreader is actually more expensive than the large one, but I’m completely happy with my purchase. I just got done spreading pelleted lime and it worked beautifully, with a smooth, even spread.

I chose the smaller spreader for a few reasons. The main benefit for me was the small cone is better for my hilly pasture. With a large cone, when you start spreading on hills, the bottom of the spreader can go dry momentarily unless you keep the cone fairly full.

The small spearer holds less, but the material stays at the bottom because there’s less width and height for it to move to. The other advantages include a polly cone so this will last a lifetime with no rusting, much lighter than the metal large one, and easier storage.

Disadvantages: 1. Obviously less capacity. 2. About 10% more expensive. 3. The small spreader does not allow you to adjust the pattern to spread to only one side like the large one. It spreads an even pattern behind you.

None of these were big issues for me, but one or all may make the large one a better choice for some.

The agitator that was installed on my spreader was too short and didn’t reach near the openings so the pelletized lime and fescue seed I was trying to spread just caked up at the outlet and wouldn’t come out.

I looked at the parts manual and the agitator that is shown in the parts diagram is not the same agitator that I had on my spreader. I contacted Tractor Supply and they put me in touch with Manufacturer.

I called the manufacturer and they said that the agitator had been changed. Looks like I’ll just make my own agitator so that I can spread product.

The spreader was advertised as quick hitch compatible, it is not. You have to lift the sprayer onto the hitch, and even then it does not settle into the hitch properly. Also the sprayer setting decal was torn and the locking knob on the spreader handle was broken.

Referring to the owners manual, it advises you to order all parts from the OEM. No where in the owners manual shows the name of the OEM or a phone number to call. I would never reccomend this product to anyone.

First of all, we were WAY too excited about the arrival of this manure spreader. Thankfully it came earlier than expected. I texted my husband who was in a meeting that it had arrived, and apparently he had been talking about it with a colleague.

My text elicited an amusing moment at the meeting. : ) We had a moment of trepidation when we had to lower it to the ground from its upright delivery position, (a tractor with a bucket is helpful, but a pulley from the barn roof would have been awesome.

We no longer have one of those…) but we got it down unscathed. My husband could not wait to see how it worked. He loaded it up with manure and hay from our horse stall floors and off to the pasture he went.

He came in the house later and said that it is probably the most valuable farm machine we own. LOL. He has used it several times since, and every time he comes back from the field and has to rave about it.

He is not the sort of person who raves about anything…It would be weird, but it works like a charm and makes him happy, so not weird. Thank you!.

This spreader is exactly as advertised, it works so good. It spreads very very well and launches the poo and bedding really well so it spreads and doesn’t end up in piles. It arrived within a week just as described and on a pallet – it was very easy to assemble all we had to do was take it off the pallet and put the front yoke on – just a few screws.

Its very nicely made, all the moving parts on the sides are covered with panels to protect you and it, and its really easy to use. I pull it with a 4 wheeler and can easily fit my 6 stalls worth of poo and bedding in it with room to spare – its plenty big enough for my barn.

Its far more cost effective too than the others I saw at other dealers. Definitely a good buy! I like that it came from TSC also because i know i will be able to get parts if needed! But a friend of mine has had one of these for 15 years and its still going strong so I hope i never need to repair it!.

I did a lot of calling around to various companies that sell this same manure spreader. My main concern is that I needed it to handle wet, dry and inbetween manure. They all assured me that it would.

I also did a lot of calling around to others that have similar products but twice the price. I have a hobby farm so felt this product from Tractor Supply would be perfect. By the way, Tractor Supply also had the best pricing for this manure spreader.

When I received it, the top bar above the bear claw beaters was bent, and the tonque where it attaches to your 4 wheel drive or riding lawn mower was scratched. The transportation company noted this.

Maybe the company that ships these out can redesign their packaging. It still works fine, but now will be more suseptible to rust until I can get some paint and touch it up. The bent bar was too difficult to try and bend back into place.

This manure spreader was put to use immediately. I believe it holds about 3-4 wheel barrow loads. I filled it to the top, and went out to spread. It did a pretty decent job considering I had wet, dry and inbetween llama dung in this.

I did rake the big chunks up and chopped them up with the rake. The big chunks were the wettest. There were a couple of really dry pieces that were almost like cardboard, but I just threw them onto bare dirt, and I’ll let winter break those down.

I use my riding lawn mower to pull this. A lot of companies didn’t think a riding lawn mower could handle pulling this once it was filled. They all recommended a 10hp or more machine to pull. My lawn mower is 19hp.

There was no issues pulling the heavy wet manure. I know there are others that are more expensive out there, like twice the price, but for me, this is pretty darn good. Not worth the extra cost in my opinion for the others.

Mainly because with this manure spreader I can keep up with the cleaning of the llama pens better, and won’t have the same issues I am dealing with now. It does an excellent job with the drier stuff.

I believe if you are getting this for horse or cow manure you’ll find it does what you need for a small scale operation. Over all I am quite please with this. I just wished it handled spreading of the wet manure better.

Quite a few chuncks that had to be chopped up with a rake and spread more evenly. But for me this is good.

While spreading grass seeds I had trouble getting it to work properly. I found the seeds were being pulverized into a fine powder at to bottom of the tub which stopped up the ports and nothing would come out.

When I purchased the 3 point spreader/seeder I assumed it would be configured to spread seeds, lime and fertilizer. What I didn’t know until I actually purchased and used the spreader was that you have to purchase a different agitator in order to spread seeds.

I’ve looked on the manufacturer website and I am unable to find a part number for the seed agitator. If I am unable to get the part it will render the spreader useless to me.

PTO shaft was defective right from the start. I took it back to the store only to encounter a hostile young assistant manager who stated that she had been working there 2 1/2 years and she let it be known that she was in charge! Mind you that this is about a 21 year old person with apparently very little in customer satisfaction training.

I only brought back the PTO in hopes of just exchanging it for another one and she said I couldn’t do this so I said that I would just buy another spreader and take replace the pto with the defective pto since I lived an hour away and would of had to borrow a trailer again to bring the original spreader back.

This spreader had just been purchased 5 days earlier and she couldn’t get it through her head that I was trying to make it easier for both parties. As we stood by the entrance and cash registers she had no problem making a scene and attempting to demoralize me which was not going to work.

I then even took her outside to visually show her what I wanted to do. She must have argued for 15 minutes until she finally realized what was going on and realized that my solution was very simple. Since I had to deal with such a strong personality I felt like I meant nothing as the customer.

After a lifetime of shopping at TSC and spending thousands of dollars, I will take my business 1/4 mile away to Family Farm and Home. I’m sure they will be much more friendly.

Purchased this to spread 6 tons of pelletized lime. Never used one so a newbie. Looked in instructions and could not find what setting so I called the manufacturer. She said it wont spread pelletized lime? I said for Petes sake its on the reviews, why? She said it will clog it up? So I just got done spreading 6 tons of pelletized lime and it was flawless.

I set it on 4 and used about 440 rpms to the pto and it spread it great. Excellent product! Great price as I was going to get a green one to match the tractor and this was about $300. 00 cheaper so overall EXTREMELY Satisfied!.
