20 Best 3/4 Hp Garbage Disposal (2022 Updated)

Previous InSinkErator was Badger 5 warranted for about two or three years; it was used lightly throughout its life, so the result was an extraordinary life of 21 years and used conventional steel parts.

After examining, I concluded the seals between the drain side and the motor side were compromised whether by worn seals and/or corrosion. Wasn’t worth fixing. So I perused the WWW and decided not to replace with another Badger 5 (which was under consideration because of the reliability) but decided I wanted to upgrade to a more durable model that used stainless steel components, was quiet, and used the same or maybe a little more power.

I also wanted a longer warranty so I don’t have to swap out a new unit for at least 10 years. Finally, it needed to be swapped out with the old unit without major modifications. The Compact Evolution met this criteria with a seven or eight year warranty, s.

s. parts, quiet, and about the same power. Given that it will likely encounter light use, its a good bet it’ll last 10 years. It was on sale for about 25% less than competitors at the time, so jumped at it.

Installation was about what I expected. The instructions overall were excellent, but a deficiency exists with respect to the electrical cover plate. There is a single semicircular tab on the plate that appears to be used to emplace the locknut so as to keep the Romex connector from loosening from vibration during disposal operation.

The tab seems to fit just nicely between the locknut protuberances; however, this requires flipping the plate. Each side of the plate has a different finish, but assume that the same coating is applied, but a different process is used for the finish.

Installing the sink flange so that it looked “professional” was a bit problematic. It would be nice if the sink flange had some kind of reference (e. g. , four little dots spaced 90° apart) so the stamped letters look esthetically balanced within the sink).

As such, trying to eyeball it in isn’t easy and time consuming. I replaced the old InSinkErator accessory power cord with a new one. The OEM model was hitting 20+ years with cracks showing in the insulation.

So I highly recommend purchasing this accessory. You can go cheaper and buy a hardware store equivalent if you want to save money, however. Either way, the cord insulation will deteriorate and given the environment underneath the sink, it’s just prudent for reasons of safety to replace it.

Cord installation was easier because of two features: 1) the grounding conductor used a loop termination rather than a bare wire. The latter is annoying because you have to ensure the wire is pointed the right way when tightening down and some of the wire gets squashed out reducing the conductive surface as well as increasing resistance.

The loop replaces that hassle. 2) Being able to distinguish between the hot and neutral wire via different textured conductors (one is smooth, the other ribbed–which one? You need to read the instructions–not telling you for liability reasons) when connecting to the conductor wires within the disposal.

(I still use an ohmmeter to validate the wiring all the way to the plug, but this ensures that miswiring is far less likely to happen). As for day-to-day operation, it is much quieter than the Badger 5 it replaced.

If you remember Jurassic Park with the quivering cup of water in the jeep when the T-rex was stumbling around, the Badger 5 was the equivalent of a Titanosaur on the countertop. Noise is dominated by the water streaming into the disposal while in operation, with virtually no coupled vibration to the countertop.

Although, we do miss our Titanosaur. One nice feature is a tool supplied to unjam the disposal which is included in the purchased unit as well as detailed instructions. Saves you broomsticks from neighbors gossiping about how ratty the tops look.

Overall, I think its an excellent unit, and would recommend to anyone who wishes to upgrade to swap in higher quality and longer lasting unit (YMMV).

I installed an Insinkerator Evolution Supreme SS 1 HP garbage disposal unit around a month ago. I found the installation of this unit a bit difficult due to the cramped space for this appliance in my home and due to the fact that I am 6 foot six and the ergonomic challenge involved with the size of my body in working with such a cramped space.

I watched many videos and fully understood what I needed to do, but I simply found it too difficult to support the weight of the unit while trying to get the bracket on the unit aligned with the bracket on the mount, then twist it into place.

But I eventually got it done. This unit is replacing a 12-year-old Insinkerator 3/4 HP unit that was in the middle to high end of the product line. The old unit was very loud and was likely mis-used by the former occupants.

I was amazed at how quiet this new unit is despite it having a larger motor. We use our garbage disposal unit sparingly and will not be putting any bones or fruit pits down it, although I understand that it is designed to handle such things.

I am overall happy that I spent the extra money to get this unit. I had an absurdly high amount of difficulty in locating this unit and shopped for it for many weeks before finding it at our local Home Depot.

We were about to buy another unit that was lowing in the product line when my wife found this one. The store did NOT have it in their inventory, so it was entirely a fluke that we found it at all. I found it confusing that you sell this unit under several different names, but called your company customer service line and was informed that this unit goes by another name when it is sold by other company stores.

Overall, we are quite pleased.

We purchased this garbage disposal when doing a full kitchen remodel. We were at Pirch with one of their planners buying all appliances and fixtures for a completely new kitchen. Items like this we purchased based upon the recommendation of the planner which she made in a manner she felt was consistent with the quality of the rest of the items we were purchasing and also I’m sure based upon the amount of money we were spending (we purchased all matching KitchenAid appliances).

So we didn’t give this particular purchase much consideration. Upon installation I was amazed at the size of it. I commented on it and the contractor guys doing the remodel mentioned it was a 3/4 horsepower disposal, which amazed me because I think that’s the horsepower of our lawnmower.

In any case, the throat on the sink as you can see in the picture is huge. You can fit just about anything down the drain and the power of this device is amazing. When it’s turned on to grind a large amount it sounds like it’s all business and clears amazingly quickly.

But when you’re just clearing the accumulation of smaller items throughout the day it’s amazingly quiet. We highly recommend this disposal. (I did cancel my life insurance and let my wife know it. I think this thing could dispose of a human body.

).

Our 32 year old Insinkerator, which was originally installed when our home was built, had decided to leak a bit at the bottom (our plumber had advised us that the new models do not have the same problem, since the material of manufacture had been updated).

The product was easy to install (we were told) and does have some innovative features. Feature #1 Other garbage disposal units only operate in one direction (clockwise). The new Insinkerator operates in both directions.

Time one it turns in a clock-wise motion. The second time it operates in as counter-clockwise motion, and continues in this pattern. The reason. If an item is placed in a regular garbage disposal unit, but it is too difficult to grind up, (like a heavy metal screwdriver) it will jam up the unit and perhaps overload the unit and burn it out.

With the new Insinkerator, this will not happen, because the item will not be constantly be under attack. A flip of the off switch will loosen up the item and then the next feature comes into play. Feature #2.

With the new Insinkerator, the rubber protectors which prevent items from sailing out the top of the device when it is running can be removed by hand from the disposal when it is not running, so the contents in the disposal can be seen and carefully be removed without potential hazard to your hand of a broken knife blade or other sharp object.

We purchased this garbage disposal two years ago as a replacement of an InSinkErator disposal, of a lesser model, that we had for for over 10 years. We chose this replacement because of the features and past experience with this brand.

Right before the two year mark this replacement piece just stopped working. There was nothing inside that would be blocking it. (We never put anything big down it, it’s just the small stuff that rinses off the dishes because we’re on a septic tank.

) My husband actually bent the Allen wrench trying to turn the disposal to reset it. We called InSinkErator customer service and the person we initially talked to said they’d have their supervisor call us back within 24-48 hours.

We were not very optimistic that this would happen. Two days later the supervisor called! She went through all the trouble shooting and determined it was clearly not working. She said they normally don’t cover this under warranty, but would go ahead and replace it this time.

(We’re thinking, then what does the warranty cover?!) The downside was it would take about a month for it to get to us. My husband asked her if we could get reimbursed if we bought one directly from Lowe’s.

She talked to her supervisor and came back with a “yes”! We purchased a replacement and emailed the receipt. About 2-3 weeks later we received a reimbursement check in the mail. We were so relieved because these disposals are expensive and pleased because customer service actually followed through on every point! Hopefully this replacement lasts more than two years.

I purchased the Evolution Compact Garbage Disposal for my kitchen to replace a disposal that had gone bad after 10 years of use. I researched for reviews of disposals and needed one that could be hardwired under my sink.

This actually was difficult to find. Too many disposals come with an attached cord that needs to be plugged into an outlet and removal of the cord voids the warranty. After reading reviews and product descriptions everywhere and speaking to the plumber that was going to install it, I chose the Evolution Compact Garbage Disposal.

I picked it up curbside at Blain’s Farm & Fleet. It was very nicely packaged. The term compact is a little misleading. The disposal is to me large. Larger than what I had before so I suggest you read the size description before getting to make sure it will fit under your sink area.

I happened to hire a plumber because of the hardwiring and wanting to make sure it was installed correctly. Both my husband and myself did read the instructions and they were very clear. The plumber had the whole thing installed and working in about a half hour which was great.

I was very surprised at how quiet this disposal is, you can barely hear it running. Especially since my last disposal was so loud it sounded like I was grinding trees in it. My plumber said this is one of the best disposals on the market and that the motor is even larger than what we would probably need.

The warranty is great. I was given several pieces of advice. The first being is that most people run their disposals with their faucets on and then switch off the disposal and water at the same time.

(guilty of that). Instead I was told to run the disposal with the water on, then switch off the disposal and leave the water running for a minute. That way any stuff that was ground up would get washed down the pipes instead of just sitting there.

Secondly don’t put things that can gum it up like celery that is stringy. And lastly don’t overload it by piling things down it. I am happy with this disposal.

Review for Frigidaire 3/4HP Corded Disposer – Gray I recently replaced our old, and increasingly noisy garbage disposal with this new Frigidaire model. What a difference! The install was pretty easy if you have moderate plumbing skills.

In my case, I’m probably not at the moderate level, but my plumbing is all PVC, not copper, as is increasingly popular, so I consider it less like plumbing and more like “arts and crafts. ” The best part is, if you’re replacing an existing disposal with a three-point mount, you don’t have to replace the drain hardware.

If you don’t have a three-point mount or any disposal at all, you will need some plumber’s putty, but all of the rest of the drain hardware is included. Be sure to check your existing drain pipes for compatibility to avoid multiple trips to the hardware store while suspending the use of your sink.

This unit comes with a 90º elbow which may or may not be all you need to finish the install. Finally, if you are connecting your dishwater drain to the disposal, be sure to knock out the insert inside of the dishwasher drain pipe.

If all of this sounds like too much, you may want to have the unit installed by a plumber. The disposal itself is much more compact than the model it replaced and yet is as powerful and quieter. When you first start it, the unit makes a moderately loud “clunk” sound as the grinders engage.

This is normal, but a little startling the first few times. Perhaps the most innovative feature is the “Silver Guard” — a ring of powerful magnets that mount under the sink around the collar of the unit and catch utensils, bottle caps, or other magnetic items so that they don’t fall into the disposal.

I ordered the Moen based on the brand, size, aesthetics, and corded feature. The Moen GX50C delivered in good shape; well packed. All items were in the box and the build quality appears very solid. Great to have the attached cord, as this location provided a switched receptacle.

(Instructions include the hardwire option. ) The installation instructions (for a fairly experienced DIY) could be a little bit clearer, but were fairly straightforward. (A private party YouTube installation video also helped.

) The unit runs well and is very quiet since the installation a month ago. Thank you, Moen!.

This is the first disposal I have seen in a while that has a truly innovative feature that is practical and useful for many situations. The Controlled Grinding feature is unique and indeed safer. I find it makes for a more controlled experience in that no one can inadvertently turn on the disposal with a switch.

As you use a dedicated stopper to both cover the opening and start the grinding process, nothing can fall into the grind chamber. If you grind lots of produce and larger amounts you may not like loosing a continuous feed ability, however with the longer throat, the capacity of the disposal is greater than average.

You still keep the water running as the stopper doesn’t seat full down and close off the disposal opening as it might first appear. There is plenty of space all around the stopper for water to flow down into the disposal.

This one grinds very efficiently. The action is quick, quieter than average and with 3/4 hp very capable. This disposal is a great option if you don’t currently have a disposal and no switch wired in.

You can forgo the switch and just get a power to under the sink. It can plug into a receptacle or be hardwired in. It is nice that the cord is included to give you both options. Do measure you space underneath your sink especially if you have a deep sink.

This disposal is taller than average. It also puts the drain line a little lower than usual. The dimensions are shown in one of the stock photos. Quiet, powerful and safer, I would say this is both innovative and evolutionary.

Don’t usually write reviews but having installed and used the Moen GSX75C I thought I’d give my thoughts on the install and use of this garbage disposal. I’ve been a fan of the InSinkErator disposal for years.

I’ve installed four over the years, two for my kids, and two for myself. However, the last one installed began leaking from the bottom of the unit, not the plumbing hookup, after its use of only 3-years.

The Moen GSX75C was easy to install and used the same 3-bolt mounting InSinkErator hardware already installed at the sink. All I had to do was disconnect the plumbing and then disengage the old disposal and replace it with the Moen GSX75C.

When I removed the old disposal I did installed an electrical outlet box that I’ve always wanted as the Moen is already pre-wired to plug in like a lamp; however, you do not need to use the pre-wired setup and can hardwire the unit the same way as the InSinkErator.

I installed this unit by myself. There were no hitches or glitches in the installation of the Moen. Is the Moen GSX75C as quiet as the InSinkErator 777 that I replaced? No, but the noise level is reasonable and not objectionable while doing the dishes; after all, it is used in a kitchen, not a church sanctuary.

I read a ton of reviews online to determine what to purchase and landed on this one. I found it easy to install with a little patience and utilized a number of videos online (both from Insinkerator and Youtube) that made it easy.

Watch these prior to installing to give your context for what you’ll be doing, and have it available as you install to walk alongside with. A couple of quick notes: 1) A few people online mentioned their unit was not quiet and vibrated.

After installing mine I would have to believe that is an installation issue (not tightening things down) or they got a faulty unit. The first few times we ran it I had to double-check that it was really running it was so quiet.

2) I’ve seen a number of folks say the rubber drain stopper they received will not let enough food or water through and caused water to fill up in the sink. When I opened the box and removed the disposal, I noticed that the stopped was put into the drain hole upside down, likely to create a lower profile.

If you flip it over you’ll find it drains much better and only causes slight a slight backlog of water if you are trying to run a ton of stuff through it at once. So if you are having this issue, try flipping it over to see if that helps.

Remember: you can easily pull the stopped out if you are putting a lot down the drain and replace it easily when you are done. Al-in-all, I’d buy this again in a heartbeat.

I was always told InSinkErator garbage disposals were the best and I agree. I can remember, to save money, when my grandmother had her kitchen remodeled (in the 1970s), she finally got her first garbage disposal, however, to save money, she bought a Sears brand.

After about a year, the sink started backing up. After repeatedly using products to chemically clear the drain, she finally hired a plumber. I can remember him saying the reason for the backup was the Sears disposal wasn’t nearly powerful enough to handle the food being ground.

My grandmother loved to cook and would make big meals everyday. She REALLY needed a disposal that could handle her cooking needs. Once she replaced the Sears model with the InSinkErator, there was never a back up, of any kind, again.

When I had to replace my 16 year old, 1/2 hp InSinkErator disposal, I wanted a unit that I could rely on to handle all of my household’s cooking needs. This disposal completely fit the bill. It grinds ALL food waste quickly, completely and silently and best of all, comes with a 10 year in-home warranty! I recommend it highly!.

After 22 years my old InSinkErator 555 gave up. The screw holding that little grinding part broke, so I decided it’s time to get the new one. Since model 555 is no longer manufactured, I decided to get Select Plus-7.

For me the most important was ability to use existing hookup without modification. This model was exact replacement for 555. I’ve been using this unit for six months now. To compare to 555 this model is more powerful (at least it seams), much quieter and generate less vibration on drain pipe, because drain tube is now attached through anti-vibration tailpipe.

I also like the fact that sink baffle can be replaced without removing the unit. Which brings me to the things I don’t like: the same baffle drains water much slower than before. Also, while pushing leftovers through the baffle, the baffle itself was pushed inside.

Luckily the unit was not on, so no damage done. It only happened once, so I hope that was an isolated incident. Now I hope that this unit will last as long as the other one.

First time replacing disposal unit. Had a problem with the rubber gasket that sits on top of the unit itself. Diagram as to how far down it fits would be helpful for others. Everything else was fine.

Quiet motor. Took about two hours to replace.

Consumer Reports rated second highest, but Cheapest, Best Value. The product itself is excellent. Little things, like instead of popping out a notched panel for the garbage disposal drain, they have a well designed removable, and reinstall-able plug.

Unheard of.

I have installed this for a friend and now remodeling my kitchen using same one. it is quiet and an easy install.

I usually by the cheapest Insinkerator at Lowes or wherever, and they provide very good service, usually several years. This time I spent a little more to get a little more power and (hopefully) a little quieter.

It seems to be money well spent. This model seems to chew through the heavy stuff much faster, and it is quieter. On the quiet topic, the unit comes with a decorative plastic collar thing around the motor area that really serves no purpose.

It is intended to make the unit look more fancy and sleeker than the bare bones models. I was going to just take it off and throw it away, but then I realized I could stuff some fiberglass insulation inside of the collar thing and mount it back onto the disposer.

Worked like a charm! I believe the insulation is why this installation seems quieter than my old unit. Why Insinkerator can’t add this little insulation upgrade is a mystery, (the plastic collar is already there) but it is easy enough for the average handy person to do, so that’s cool.

All in all, a good unit for the price!.

This was a direct replacement for a the same model installed 8 years ago. The unit is quiet, works well. When it came time to install the dish washer connection, the knock out disk was very hard to “knock out”, and the factory furnished screws for the dishwasher connection did not fit.

With the previous insinkerator unit installation, the screws always fit well. I took the unit back to Lowe’s, and got another one. The screws did not fit that one either. We finally came to the conclusion that the screw fit was a design element to keep them from coming loose, once installed using great pressure.

So, I “leaned” on them and they finally went in. All has been well since. I think the factory installation instructions should make this clear upfront. I wasted a lot of time making unnecessary trips to Lowe’s to do something that should have been very simple.

Very frustrating, and so unnecessary! Would have given the product an “excellent” in all categories, were it not for this unnecessary installation related issue!.

I purchased this model as a replacement for my older Badger 500. As a diyer I installed the 500 model on my kitchen sink without a previous disposal. The universal flange that InSinkErator uses on all the Badger models made it super easy to install.

When I purchased the 15Ss model it made it that much easier to install with the existing flange already in place. I also love the convenience and flexibility for installing with a power cord or hardline.

The Badger 15Ss is just as loud as my older 500 model but it makes up for it in power. I wouldn’t recommend it but they claim it can grind up a peach pit. One last plus worth mentioning is the 6 year warranty plus 1 year if you purchase from Lowe’s.

You can’t beat a 7 year warranty. That being said, as long as you take care of it, keep it clean, don’t run it for long periods of time or without water running, and don’t try to force large or hard foods down it and it should last much much longer.

Ordered a new Insinkerator Badger 5 to replace the same model which had served us for over 20 years. Before I did, I checked with Insinkerator support and was assured the new one would be a direct replacement for our old Badger 5.

Unfortunately, Insinkerator support got it wrong. My circa 2000 Badger 5 had a male threaded discharge tube, which directly connected to my sink drain. The new unit had been completely redesigned, and the discharge outlet was a smooth plastic pipe which required a compression fitting.

Took a couple of us budgeted trips to the closest hardware store to get the necessary parts needed to hook it up. Not happy. But there’s more! The newly designed drain continued to leak despite all efforts to tighten it, rearrange the position and refitting the cut rubber gasket provided.

Took multiple calls and e-mails to determine that Insinkerator messed up a second time. Instead of the flat cut gasket provided, I determined that the correct one was supposed to have a flair on one side – to better seal when connected to the drain tail piece.

A week later I received a “complimentary” correct gasket, which worked the trick. I pointed out to Insinkerator support that their instructions showed the flat washer, and did not show or mention the correct one being used, which didn’t seem to surprise anyone at Insinkerator.

If I had known I needed to replumb the entire disposal, would have definitely picked out a better, more quiet unit, and probably from another company. Insinkerator’s lack of support got them the sale, but it will probably be the last one the sell us.

I purchased InSinkErator Badger 5 disposal because the one that had come with my new home started leaking. I will be honest, this review is as much about the Insinkarator that was installed by the builder of my home (which is only 4.

5 years) as it is about the new one that I purchased directly from my plumber (it is the brand that their company carries on their trucks). I have owned homes for most of my adult life and I am 62 this year.

I have lived in homes at times for just a few years before selling them, as well as one that I owned for almost 15 years. In all those homes, never once did the disposal start leaking Now out of nowhere the one that came with this home has a leak?? It is not like I put something different in the disposal in this home, then I did in all the other homes.

I don’t know what brand of disposals were in the homes I lived in, nor did it matter; I never needed to replace one; never. That is why I am saying the quality is fair. my first did not last very long in my opinion.

Now we shall see if that was just a fluke, or if it is the disposal itself. Idk about innovation, a disposal in which I can put food scraps and have them broken down and washed down the drain, is all that I require.

Does this one have anything special about it? Idk but I’d say not. After all, the plumber would have said something after installing it, the new one works in the same manner as the old one. I assumed that since the plumber sells them and he installed mine (and it doesn’t leak now) that the installation process is reasonable and that is why I gave it the 5.

Overall I have to say that as far as my experience goes, it is just “fair” I would recommend it because it is not expensive and it does the job. But I would include the caveat that at least one time, it had a shorter than normal lifespan.

Hopefully, this one will last longer than the first one that I had in this house.

I had an earlier badger model for 16 years. The old unit still worked but the casing cracked and was leaking a small amount of water, which set off my under-the-sink water alarm, so it was time for a new one.

I am very happy with the selection of the Badger 5, however I am glad that I did not attempt to install it myself, but instead hired a local plumber. It took the plumber about 2 hours to install the new unit.

When he finished, it leaked at the PVC connection, so he replaced the washer at that connection which solved that problem. About 3 days later, my water alarm once again went off. The disposal was leaking where the black rubber hose from the sink above was connected to the disposal.

Apparently that hose was too long, with the weight of the excess hose causing the connection to loosen. After tightening the hose, I solved this issue by propping up the excess hose so that it is now level with the disposal connection.

This was not a problem with the disposal, but a problem of using a longer that needed hose, as incorrectly supplied and installed by the plumber. The new unit has been working well for about a month now.

I recommend this model for the average homeowner who has it professionally installed, and uses a water alarm to find and fix small leaks before they become big ones. I saved money by buying the corded version online from Home Depot as only the no-cord versions were in the store and they cost more, as did the same model the plumber wanted to sell me.

I had to replace a Badger 5, which rusted and seized up. This is my second Waste King. The first one also replacing a Badger 5 under another sink and 3 years later it is still working great. So when the need arose I bought this brand again.

Unlike the Badger 5, the Waste King does not use components that can rust and seize up. Our water apparently eats Badger 5s for lunch as I’ve had to replace a lot of them before I found Waste King. The install was very easy.

The only hard part was getting the old Insinkerator mount off, as it’s not compatible. One other benefit – this disposal has an actual power cord that plugs into an outlet. This is much better than the Badger which required hard wiring to the inside of the unit.

As a result, if the Waste King has to be removed it’s a lot easier. The directions are on the box itself and very clear. Assuming you have a dishwasher, don’t forget to pop out the plastic piece that blocks the dishwasher waste inlet.

Ordered on line and it was delivered within the week. Selected this model because it was highly rated by Consumer Reports. It works very well and the noise is significantly less than the one it replaced.

It is the first disposal that I have installed and it went without a hitch. The written instructions were fine but I supplemented them with a couple of You-Tube videos. Overall a good experience. I would highly recommend the product.

When I went to HD looking for a garbage disposal, there were about 10 brands to choice from. But this particular disposal has a 1hp motor. That was a much stronger motor than 90% of the other brands.

This disposal comes with a pre-installed electrical cord. The direction for installation appear to very simple to follow. The housing that covers the disposal is very well made compared to other models.

So, price of the unit, ease of installation, and plus a 1 hp motor and a 20 yr warrantee made this selection a no-brainer. You just can’t beat the price for everything you get with this disposal.

Though I thought the instructions were clear, my plumber had trouble with the sink flange and found the easy mount was not that that easy to actually mount. The product is much quieter than the decade old Kenmore and makes short work of small scraps.

Makes an odd high pitch sound when it is about done, but seems OK.

It was easy to install. It was larger than the one I replaced but the insulation keeps the unit running quiet. More than enough powerful for our vegetarian use.

Product has worked great so far, install guy was very knowledgable and effiecient

I replaced an InSinkerator 1/3 HP with the GX50C 1/2 hp. My Insinkerator Disposal was typical in the sense that it was loud, it was Atypical in the sense that it was leaking like a sieve through the housing.

I have never owned a MOEN disposal before but at the price and what it promised I really couldn’t argue. The worst that would happen is that I sent it back for being less than it promised. If you’re mechanically inclined this is novice level installation.

Super Easy and universal enough that I could have just mounted it onto the old InSinkerator parts. I decided I’d like the MOEN brand name in the sink so I changed out the drain piece. Also pretty simple to do.

When I turned this on it was super quiet. We have an open floor plan between the living room and the Kitchen. Had I been on the couch I would have never known it was on. The old disposal was loud enough to drown out sound coming from the TV and that was before you started grinding anything.

I only ground up some small items like eggs shells and it really is still pretty quiet all things considered. If you’re looking for a new disposal I’d give the MOEN brand a try especially the ones with the sound dampening housing like the GX50C 1/2 hp.
