15 Best 350Z Cold Air Intake (2022 Updated)

I LOVE this mod! I had been very happy w my Z before the K&N but, I was driving a Mustang GT before the Z and I did miss the growl. The K&N gets it done. Best part is in normal driving there is only a slightly deeper exhaust note; no full time drone like the Mustang.

But when you put your right foot into it HOLY S*&T does this thing roar! Noticeable boost in top end power as well. Installation was +-2hrs. Instructions were excellent w useful pictures of each step.

Looks great too.

First of all, let me say that I am mechanically “challenged. ” Having read the reviews posted on autoanything. com about how easy the installation was, I decided to try this myself. Seriously- if I can do it- you can do it.

I had an extra set of hands there to help if needed, but I really didn’t need anyone. Took me about 2. 5-3 hrs to install myself, but if I had to install another one, I could do it in about 90 minutes tops.

The directions are clear and everything fit to a ‘t. ‘ The most difficult part was getting the pipe from the front grille to the new air box. I found it for less $$$ elsewhere, but autoanything met and beat the price with no hassle at all as they said they would.

Great company- I will continue to use them (and I don’t work there and am not a relative of anyone who does). Now about the Typhoon itself. bad ass. When you first start the car, there is no real difference in the sound, but when you get it to 3,000 rpm, you hear that cold air start to suck up a LOT of air and the b’ch GROWLS.

It got throatier as it broke in (had it for a week and it sounds GREAT now- better than it did after a the first few days). Love it. SOMEWHAT better gas mileage (MAYBE 2 mpg better), and definitely a jump in HP, mostly noticable on the highway and smacking the gas jumping in and out of traffic.

Love it. Buy it. You won’t be disappointed.

Not my first K&N intake. Bought one for my 94 Miata and was pleased with the performance improvement. So, I ordered the 69 series for my 2005 350Z. I was surprised by how quickly it shipped. I had it in 3 days.

I had it professionally installed due to lack of a lift or jack stands. definite improvement in performance.

This was easy to install and I don’t even change my own oil or brakes. The instructions order is a bit off. I would wait to put the battery back in last for you have more room to work. The short tube supplied is a bit too long and make the engine cover sit a little tilted, but that is an easy fix.

It sounds great on my versa. I catch people looking with I get on the throttle. Even though it is only a 5hp gain you can feel a difference when you hit 4K on the tack. Just get it already.

I don’t know a whole lot about cars but was able to install this part with a little help from my uncle no problem. It immediately added some power and aggression to my versa. Between this and a magna flow cat back exhaust my versa has become a much more fun to drive vehicle.

I highly recommend this part for anyone looking to get a bit more out of their versa without a bunch of work. Also a plus would be I have gotten slightly better mpg. Don’t have any specific numbers but I’m thinking it has added 2 mpg.

I love my new Takeda CAI. I can feel a difference in power and sound. Especially teamed with DC sports exhaust. Would recommend to friends and family.

Overall satisfied with my purchase its affordable and durable. All parts were present and the instruction manual went over install pretty well (theres a couple parts it doesnt cover but it just takes some common sense to figure some things out) I did the install by myself it took me about 3 hours but this really should take 1 hour max if you know what youre doing.

Felt a slight difference in performance after install but after I put my new cat back and headers on I will soon Dyno. Would recommend.

Intake kit was easily installed, all necessary items included. Two things to note during install on my 370Z. First, the hoses and clamps for the crankcase venting are a bit oversized. 5/8″ hoses are supplied, which match the ID on the valve cover outlets, but the ID on the intake is 1/2″.

Clamps are supplied to tighten the supplied 5/8″ hose down, but didn’t want to get into an over tightening situation and have a vacuum leak later. Bought a foot of some good quality new 1/2″ fuel line or heater hose to install in place of the supplied 5/8″ hose.

Stretched over the 5/8″ outlets on engine without any issues, looked great, and problem solved. Second, the brackets that connect the lower peroration of the intake tube to the heat shield may need bent a bit to get the right fit.

They come angled, but I had to bend mine just a touch to get the bolt holes to line up just right. No big deal on either issue, I’ve been working on cars long enough that I know that there is most always something different on any aftermarket accessory install.

Besides these two minor items, all else fit like a glove.

I just put this in the car today so I haven’t really driven it much yet, but I have noticed a little bit of a difference. I don’t drive fast so I can’t really say that it gained significant amount of HP, but I can say that it does seem like it could’ve possibly added a slight kick.

I can say for a fact that I can hear the exhaust alot more because of the intake. Everything else on the car is stock too so that actually shocked me. I figured it’d maybe be a little sound difference, but not as much as it gained.

It’s like a louder and yet deeper rumble. I know adding exhaust will only make it even better. Also the installation wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. The instructions s were good enough, but in my opinion they could’ve been better at least with the pictures.

It wasn’t hard to figure it out though and with first look at the instructions it’s quite intimidating lol. Ultimately it’s just a matter of taking off a few screws, removing the stock airbox and hose then replace it with the kit.

Also keep in mind that you’ll technically be installing less parts than the stock setup so it may seem as though you’re forgetting something when you’re done. But all in all I’d recommend this intake kit.

Pretty easy to install, sound improvement, HP increase, inexpensive, never have to replace the filter again and easy to get to in order to clean unlike some of the other intake kits that require front bumper removal even just to clean the filter :).

Got this intake after a month of research and I’m glad I decided to go with this CAI over others due to the fact that it’s made in America and has the best warranty when compared to what the others are offering.

30 minute install for me, but I’ve been working on my own cars since I was a teen. I immediately noticed better sound from my already modified exhaust and better throttle response. NOTE: you will have to order the rain sleeve separately or install the metal plate that comes with the kit so your filter doesn’t get wet.

I ordered the sleeve and temporarily installed the plate, but once the sleeve arrives I’m taking the plate off so my heat extractors can do what it was designed to do. All in all I would definitely recommend this kit over others and I’m completely satisfied with it.

Pretty straight forward install, took two hours only because everyone in my apartment complex was interested in what I was doing and wanted to chat. I am no mechanic and my experience working on cars is very minimal.

As long as you are somewhat familiar with tools, the internet and youtube can help fill in those knowledge gaps. With mechanical experience, this should take you like 45mins – 1Hr to complete. Once I finished installing, I was impressed with how much it cleaned up the appearance of my engine.

Love love love the aesthetics this CAI brings to my build. I noticed a slight up tick in horsepower and throttle response. Im satisfied with the performance for the price. Now onto the next Mod!.

Finally got around to posting my review but gotta say it’s been a great product so far and must buy car mod!. This was my first car mod and was having a hard time deciding which CAI to go with and saw this one.

I read up on it and it blew me away with what I saw. It was like in the medium range of CAI I saw and was willing to spend. Everything came in the box and instructions was easy to read and understand.

I just had a little hard time inserting the mass air flow sensor but with a little lube around the area it worked. Other than that it was a easy install that you can do yourself. Quality of product is amazing and looks so good under the hood!.

If you can afford to spend a middle price range I recommend you go with this K&N CAI. WORTH IT!.

Completely satisfied with online ordering process, why buy from a middle man when you can go to the manufacturer? the product itself is above and beyond anything on the market for fit, finish and performance.

My 2012 VW CC feels smoother, has more power and gets better gas mileage than with stock airbox and as a bonus it sounds cooler too.

While my stock 2104 370z was fine, I liked the look of the typhoon kit. plus the chance to allow the car to breathe better and perhaps produce a few more HP, made me decide to purchase. Auto anything was great to work with an actually did a price match with a competitor who placed me on back order.

Product was well constructed and instructions were adequate. K&N could do a much better job on the small vent tubes going into the block. everything else was great. Engine has more growl now.

Really like the kit installed on my wife’s 2013 Infinity G37X. Job took about 2 hours working at a leisurely pace. Don’t notice any loud noise during normal accelleration or while cruising. Feel like K & N should be standard equipment on vehicles.

I’ve been a satisfied customer for decades. The service from Auto Anything was top notch due to the great website, competitive price, and quick delivery.

Got mine relatively quickly. The quality is superb used AFE products before and they have always been top quality. I love the fact they provide dyno sheets to provide hp and tq gains. Cannot confirm if I did gain 20 ft lbs of torque or 19hp as the company states since I have yet to take it to a dyno.

The butt dyno however says its got more power, the noise is definitely addicting. The trucks are speed density based, so they do not have a MAF. I went with the oiled option, gives you a bit more flow and filtration but extra step in maintenance when it comes time to cleaning with the reoiling, not a huge deal.

Well worth the upgrade!.

17 March 2021 – finally installed this CAI tonight and I’m honestly impressed. Bought it for my 2013 Ford F150 3. 5 V6 Eco Boost. I watched some YouTube installation videos and it was rather fast to install (took me by myself just under 2 hours but it you have the tools ready beforehand it would be faster).

I’m in no way mechanically inclined at all and it was a breeze to do it myself. If the instructions are hard for you to read, AFE has a colorized PDF on their website. Bummer the lid doesn’t come with it as its sold as an accessory which I bought and I should have that delivered tomorrow.

My only concern was; with the factory box and intake installed, I get between 19. 2 – 22 MPG depending on whether and road conditions and I didn’t want to take a hit on my mpg due to driving roughly 76 miles a day to and from work.

My friends did recommend I disconnect the battery (isn’t stated in the instructions and not completely sure if it’s necessary) while installing this, which I did, to help the computer recognize the new airflow.

I drove for about 30 miles after installation and I got: no check engine light and towards the end of my drive, I hit 19. 2MPG. I have a feeling after my work week when this levels off I should be getting comparable, if not more in fuel economy.

I’ll post updates if anything changes but currently no issues and I’m very impressed with the new turbo whistles/sounds. Heads up, you may need to add a little oil to the O-ring on the sensor as it’s a very tight fit.

Also check AFE’s website as you currently can get his CAI for under $500.

Just got this installed on my 2006 Chevy Silverado 1500 5. 3L. I upgraded the exhaust ( MBRP XP series), cold air intake and throttle body ( BBK 80mm ) all at the same time. I can definitely tell a difference in throttle response and HP.

Very happy with this product. It looks great and was a fairly simple install overall. Maybe an hour of work. I would definitely recommend to anyone in the market for a cold air intake upgrade. All material is high quality.

After some research, I landed on this AirRaid CAI. First, the install was a snap. Maybe 45 minutes, the video from American muscle was clutch! As for performance, incredibly noticeable. This one small change put me from a 6.

4 0-60 to a 5. 9. And I’m getting tire spin, I’m confident I can get to 5. 6, not to shabby for a V6 Challenger. If I had one complaint, the seem is on the top of the filter which really screws with the look of the CAI.

At first, I really wasn’t feeling super confident with the 15hp increase from there Dyno testing but after installing I definitely do believe! Better throttle response, solid gains and a great whine.

Only complaint is they did not send one of the 7 inch hose clamps which almost had me put the entire stock intake on. Be better!.

Easy to install and definite sound improvement between 3k and 6k rpms, which I like. MPG improvement has been significant. I’m getting 33 to 34 MPG on the highway consistently. Fyi. My car is a 2011 challenger.

Only negative is the filter itself is flipped. There is a chrome line/ clip on top of the filter instead of the botton (see pic). Works fine but aesthetically looks odd.

Immediately after install without any tuning my truck accelerates quicker. It also seems to eliminate any delay when the truck switches gears. The quality is outstanding. It feels like a better fit than the factory.

The mounts are perfect and for my 2. 7L it actually gives something to look at in the engine bay. I have a 2. 5 inch level and it fit, HOWEVER be warned, if you have a bigger lift I don’t think this will fit.

It is a MASSIVE housing compared to factory. I can definitely hear a difference in my engine. I have stock exhaust, however when getting up to speed you notice a much more lively sound. The rubber scoop neck is also much larger for the intake than the rest.

I have noticed a massive difference in airflow and more power. My truck also is able to stay at lower rpms at speed and my gas mileage went up by about 2 mpg. The only thing I don’t like is the clear plexiglass cover for the housing is shipped in a protective tape.

The adhesive stayed on mine no matter what product I soaked it in. I also used the softest microfiber I have and it still made it foggy and scratched it. I know it’s a small complaint but I feel it takes away from the intake slightly.

All and all I love this product. If you go on their site can order there oil kit for 29. 99. It arrived in 3 days no extra charge.

Never installed a CAI before and it only took me an hour & a beer. The hardest part is taking out the factory OEM air filter. To save whoever is reading this a few minutes, the factory bottom mount bracket (after taking out support bolts on the engine bay side) just pops out.

I spent a few minutes looking around trying to figure out what was keeping it secured in the bottom before I just pulled it up on one side. The connection hose for the breather tube takes a bit of finagling to make sure it isn’t kinked – a bit of turning & mild coercion makes it seat without problems.

The OEM tubes with the push clips that have angled turning points would have been a lot easier to connect had it just allowed for it and I wouldn’t have needed the tubes they included. Another inconvenient thing was putting the gasket around the top see-through plastic piece.

That took the most time dealing with anything with the S&B CAI install outside of removing the OEM air intake. I’d you’re mechanically inclined and have already done a CAI swap, this would definitely only take half an hour depending on how long it takes you to to get the seal on the top piece.

What’s not to like about this cold air intake. The install was very easy and I had it on in about 40 mins. I took it for about a 20 mile test drive in city, highway, and I could instantly feel the difference in response and sound.

This really woke my Hemi up! I had previously swapped the muffler with a MBRP high flow, and deleted the rear resonators and replaced with Flowmaster pipe and Black tips. Combined with my exhaust upgrades, this COI really completes the package.

I pondered for months on which one to get, but kept coming back to this one. I went with the oiled filter and it is huge! I also love the clear cover so you can check the filter condition without removing a cover.

The inlet tube from the box to the throttle body is also considerably bigger. It all tucks in nicely under the hood. I am glad with my choice, and am happy with the performance. Now to keep an eye on my fuel usage and see if there is any mpg gain.

I am under no illusion that if I put my foot into it to enjoy the performance gain, but with gas prices approaching $5 a gallon, I’m going easy on the throttle to save $$. We’ll see how the mpg side of things plays out.

Was a little tricky to install as it comes a little bit universal for 3 different applications. I eventually figured it out and am very pleased with the performance of this product sounds amazing and really pulls.

I have used K&M, AEM cold air and short ram intakes. The Takeda quality is very good. The growl it creates is excellent and their are noticeable power gains and throttle response. No check engine lights or problems with install, the instructions are clear and forward.

Everything fit perfect and came with no factory defects. The packaging it came with is top notch and all the parts of excellent quality. I would by from this company any day. Customer support was top notch on phone and email.

for the price, the vent housing should have been design to accept the crank case hose so you would not have to muck with the coolant line. The coupling to connect to the throttle body is a lose fit. The black power coat had a few chips missing on the inside lip.

New clamps for 5/16″ hose should have been supplied as well. The anchoring design should have included the anchoring point on top of the wheel well housing where the air box connected. Car has slightly better throttle response but I’m only getting 2% gas mileage improvement.

Not crazy about hearing the Tonka Truck growl when I stomp on the gas peddle. Accord feels like it shifts gears harder. I’m glad I did not pay more for this CAI. Thinking about putting the original parts back on.

A couple more tank full will tell me if this was worth the money or not.

This was to upgrade for an early version. I didn’t realize you had an update kit so I ended purchasing a complete system. I bought my 2008 f -150 in 2010 that had the early system already installed. When I realized the oval part of the intake was collapsing where the filter attaches I was fairly certain that it was drawing some unfiltered air.

Installation went great. The instructions were pretty good. I did not need to watch any YouTube videos. I love the sound and the performance. Recently took a 1600 mile round trip vacation and not one issue.

Overall I got about 18mpg with a full bed of stuff and 4 people.

It was fairly easy to install, with the only exception being when you mount the air filter box you need to get it pushed as close to the front of the vehicle as possible so that the tubes can lineup.

Other than that I can tell a difference at the higher rpm’s in the vehicles performance. As for gas mileage I am not sure yet though I would hope I’ve gained at least a mile or two per gallon. Overall I am very happy with this air filter and the quality is terrific.

Installing this intake was pretty easy. Just a few hoses to connect and screws and clamps to tighten down. What was difficult was removing the old air box. The tubes were on very tight and took a lot of force to yank them out.

Installing the SRI probably took about 30 mins. Removing the old air box took about 1. 5 hours. I haven’t had the SRI for long but so far it sounds great. It adds a nice agressive growling sound when you step hard on the gas and overpowers the sound from my Borla cat-back.

4. 5 stars Pros – sounds amazing – quiet at 1 – 2k RPM – takes VTEC to another level – Looks great Cons -Instructions were medium difficulty to read and execute – Installation took me 3 hours, highly doubt anyone can do this under 1 hour.

Looks very good, Tight fitment at some point but, nothing that cause trouble ! came with 2 filter its crazy cool ! And the sound. better than i could dream of ! I love my V6 roar trought this intake !!!.

I was looking for a while to find a decent review on this intake. So here it is, sweet and simple. It will make your truck louder and cleaner. I have a Flowmaster Outlaw Direct Fit Muffler and it definitely made it much cleaner.

The sound volume increased just a tad bit but make sure you understand I already have a $400 exhaust modification done. So yours should be much louder. Anyway, the torque was definitely increased, and for those of you who are new to this.

that means pedal responsiveness. The gas mileage just a small difference but I also have bigger/more aggressive tires. All in all a great buy and I’d honestly recommend it 100%. No downsides, just gains.

The intake installed easy. Overall power feels better. I have a plenum spacer, headers, high flow cats and cat back exhaust. I didn’t notice increased intake noise. I would recommend this intake.

I had to fix the oe intake to pass smog and I decided to just upgrade to this instead of buying parts I didn’t want. So so worth it, passed smog easily and it really woke up the stock engine even with 180k miles it just growls more now like an actual sports car ::).

I’ve had this intake on 2 separate DE’s and both times it made instant power and made the exhaust note throaty and aggressive. Design is perfect all things considered. Throw a 9 by 4 inch K&N filter and a custom heat shield and this intake really flourishes!.

This was a relatively easy installation. Definitely increases the growl, even with stock exhaust. I have better throttle response; though this CAI by itself isn’t going to pin you to the back of your seat when you take off.

No Tune required and legal in Commiefornia. Looks good under the hood. I believe a big difference will be felt with LT headers and a tune (which is coming soon). Options are limited on the install time.

I ordered, got to me quickly, which is very nice. Install was simple as well the instructions looked good. This also comes As with a sound tube delete, which is also nice. Come comes pre oiled, which is also nice.

Makes a really nice whistle around 2k rpm for me. It does not require a tune with the stock grill, but if one does get an aftermarket grill then then it will most likely have a opening there, thus requiring to account for the leanness.

All in all great intake would buy again.

Relatively easy to install. One issue was the alignment of the sensor that you attach the to intake housing. It did not match up well – omitted the nylon spacers too. Also, the T-20 Torx bit (which was supposed to be included) was not included.

Directions assume a certain level of auto mechanic knowledge and left us guessing on a couple steps. Too about 1. 5 – 2 hours to install But we figured it our. Looks great – sounds great – anxious to compare performance and mileage.
