20 Best 36 Inch Range Hood (2022 Updated)

We like choosing speed/strength of the fan — works great and easy to select the buttons. It’s attractive. Was ok to install Always a bit tricky especially in a log house. so our problem, not the hood’s.

But the light underneath is terrible – like a night light and it shines on the back of the stove, not over the burners where it’s needed!! So we’re trying to figure out another light to put on the wall next to the stove.

Otherwise we have to use a flashlight at times.

The reason I have rated this product 5 stars is that the manufacturer has kept it simple. No fancy electronics like digital touch buttons, digital dimmers, “dirty filter alert”, or complicated vent ducting.

The 3 filters are easy to detach and clean, and the exterior stainless steel finish just needs an occasional wipe to keep it looking new. The push button controls are straightforward and intuitive to operate.

And, of course, the price was very reasonable. My old ducted exhaust hood was 3X more expensive and too complicated with fancy electronics which led to it malfunctioning in the first place.

Took about 30 minutes to install. It has a plug so needed to change that. Didn’t have any installation hardware or screws. It’s a very nice appearnce unit and the 3 speed fan with dual lights is unique in these hoods for under $200 it’s a steal !.

Great range! The only set backs are that the air being drawn up and out of my kitchen is only done so from the very back of the hood. I held a piece of paper up to the blower and it was only pulled upward when held at the very back not over the front burners at all.

Also, the bulbs (sold separately) are spectacularly hard to install. Do it before installation. Good looking range, good value.

I bought this range hood to replace the Broan hood that I installed when I built my house 25 years ago. This hood’s fan is much quieter and moves more air than the original. I really like the light from the halogen bulbs, however, I think Broan should provide them with the purchase.

It was easy to install as the wiring and ducting was already in place and since the original was also a Broan everything slid into place without any retrofitting. I’m very happy with the purchase. It’s just a very clean, modern looking range hood that works well for a good price.

This exhaust fan hood is all around great! I used it because controls were on the bottom and I wanted to make it into a country rustic style hood to match my old farmhouse remodel. It has a quiet fan that circulates a lot of air while cooking.

No smoke or heat in kitchen while frying or making “Cajun” grilled chicken. Once I stain the hood, this thing is going to not only work great but, look great too. I highly recommend this hood.

This is a good, no frills, basic range hood. The low fan setting is fairly quiet. The high fan setting is noisy, but it does clear out any cooking smoke. Note that there is an identical model which has a spot for a filter in case you can’t vent it to the outside.

Don’t buy that model if you don’t plan on using the filter. Other reviewers have said that they had trouble sealing the hole where the filter would go. With this model, you don’t have to worry about that.

I had purchased this same hood with another well know company and when I did I had mistakenly asked for the 7in round exhaust. So I returned it but I could not get a replacement with the 3-1/4″ x 10″ exhaust.

They had it but it would take at least 3 weeks to get it. So I looked on line and found it here at Build. com. So I ordered it and I received it in about 1 to 1 1/2 weeks and it was half the cost. It is a great hood, it looks very nice.

I really like it, and you can’t be the service and cost from build. com. It is everything it says in the overview and specifications. It was not hard to install, it took about 30-45 min. It looks very good installed.

We just installed this 2 weeks ago and I must say very happy with our purchase. Premium Home Source had the best pricing available online. Happy we found you! Took a little extra time for delivery since we’re in out in the middle of no where but driver eventually found us.

Just got this hood for my kitchen remodel. The Finish is beautiful!! Powerful fan motor, yet quiet. Easy to assemble and mount. Shipping was super quick too.

We bought this in April of 2021 when planning our kitchen remodel and we installed it in early August 2021. Pros: 1) It was shipped and arrived quickly. 2) It looks great. 3) Included all the parts we needed (blower, hood exhaust extension, hood, and even the 6″ flexible exhaust tube but we had a slightly longer run so we did not use it).

4) Price discounted from $1,399 to $379. 95 (our first warning sign). 5) Seems to have been built with high-quality parts on the outside. Cons: 1) Difficult to install the exhaust cover: The extension is a great idea but whoever designed it has never had to install it.

The screws in the top to hold up the extension require a backing plate (included) but you have to have 4 arms, 2-4 legs to hold you up but only 1 body as there is not enough maneuvering room for 2 people to effectively hold up the extension and screw in the screws.

We eventually used sheet metal screws on the side that was less obvious and screwed the bottom part of the exhaust cover into the top (extension) part of the exhaust cover to hold up the top extension so it was close to the ceiling.

I could have designed a better solution! 2) Does not vent well. The hood might be too far from the range but is within the recommended distance. As a result, it does not appear to be effectively working as a range hood and lacks in the venting of the heat/smoke from the oven/range.

We even did a paper test to prove to us that the fan was actually sucking air because not even our hands could feel it when the fan was turned on “High”. We took out the filters too so we could make sure they were not blocked.

Our home inspector told us we could not exceed 400 CFM of airflow give our house is spray foam insulated and sealed up. This unit claims a 120/240/320/400 CFM airflow. I blow more out of my lungs than the highest setting – and I proved it in our paper test with the setting on #4 (400 CFM – no way).

There is NO blockage in our vent work either – this is 100% the fan/motor. 3) It is wicked loud. Think about boarding a passenger jet from the runway and the Jet Engines are on – now turn up the volume.

It is so loud that you have the leave the kitchen to talk when set to #3 or #4 (settings #1 and #2 just seem to create noise but no airflow). This is a 22′ X 14′ kitchen too, so not a small kitchen. I know what they say the decibels are ( 20/29/34/41 – Decibels) but there is NO WAY! Those posted numbers on the spec sheet can’t be as high as 50% of the real volume when the fan is on! If I had a decibel reader I would give real numbers.

I have been trying to guess how far away from the fan was the test conducted? That is the only explanation I can come up with on this fantastical metric. 4) To turn off the fan you have to push the power button twice.

Mostly just annoying. Why not just allow us to push the # button a second time to turn off the fan – like the ligths? Oh, to turn off the lights you have to push the lights button as the power button only turns off the fan (when pressed twice) but the lights stay on until you press the lights button again – like a real toggle switch.

So, to turn of the fan and the lights you have to push a button 3 times. I guess the good news is that it is consistent since you have to press the power button and then the fan # button to turn on the fan.

Honestly, I think they should just lose the power button as it complicates the user interface. If the fan is on #1 and you press #1 – the fan should turn off. If you press #2 it should power up to #2 level.

etc. Simple, expected, and it saves on parts too – increasing the profitability of the hood. A win-win! Your welcome. Summary: The hood looks great and the price after the discount was too good to be true.

We should have known that the price was too good but we took a chance. We are paying the price. Don’t make our mistake – buy a hood with a better “blower” and you will be happier.

Beautiful and simple and not too difficult to mount ourselves. The lights are a nice color, not too stark or bright, and it seems to have quite a strong fan, although we have not yet cooked with it. HOWEVER, there are some issues with the components.

The two lights swivel slightly, a nice feature that allows you to point them a bit away from your face and towards the back burners. But one of the 2 lights only swivels in 1 direction. Also, there are 2 pretty screws with a large, modern head of stainless steel that keep the filters in place.

However, our hood only came with 1 screw, so we had to improvise with another one that does not look as pretty and it is quite uneven looking.

I love my Thor 36 gas range. Above all else, it is so easy to clean, both inside and out. This is of major importance because I use it constantly. I most enjoy the two combo regular/simmer burners. Most ranges dont seem to go low enough, and you can never really walk away.

I cook almost exclusively with cast iron and so the tiny tiny simmer burners are just perfect, I never burn anything. The oven itself is very well insulated. I can tell because it heats up quickly, evenly, and doesnt turn my kitchen into a sauna.

The convection fan is strong and is a difference-maker as well. Oh and the broiler is LEGIT. Perfect for crisping, browning, searing.

This package looks great in our kitchen. This fridge is exactly what we wanted! Great amount of space in both the fridge and freezer, with the ability to have an ice maker/water dispenser in the door that is nicely complimented by a light that brightens up the dispensing area.

We love the drawers in the fridge as that’s something we realized most fridges do not come with now days. We also enjoy the look and style of the fridge and feel like it fits perfectly in our kitchen.

I am very impressed with my new range hood so far! It is so much quieter than my previous range hood with identical output. The delay-off function is nice to have. I was surprised (and delighted) to see that the lights tilt and have two brightness settings.

Construction seems solid and the lifetime warranty on the motor was the biggest selling point for me because my previous range hood from a different brand died less than 2 years after install. Shipping was very fast as well.

This is the first range hood we had in almost eight years. In our previous home, we didnt find it necessary to get one because the windows and the exhausts fan are doing a great job keeping our kitchen smoke-free.

But in our new home, it was obvious we needed one because there not enough ventilation and lighting. Also, my wife didnt trust the general lighting and she asked to have lights directly above the cooktop.

She was very happy with the Zline range hood.

very loud and vibrates, Its new and there’s some kind of oil dripping out of the fan motor. You cant really talk around this when its on any speed other than 1, even then its loud.

Love this! It did come with an annoying brand badge but it came off easily. Works amazing

Fed X damaged the hood in transit and Home Outlet took care of a replacement immediately with no hassle. The hood is the second one I’ve purchased for my other home and it is a fabulous product. Couldn’t be happier with my experience and the product.

Owned this range hood for 9 years – 30″ version. The buttons have been squishy for the last few years – they work after pushing them a few times. Now the control panel has pushed through and upon further inspection the plastic case of the control panel is broken.

Trying to find a replacement part and so far cannot find it. The customer service number is no longer in service. Not Impressed. For these reasons I would not recommend purchasing this product.

This range hood really gets the job done! It gets rid of smells instantly and the fan is pretty quiet. Not to mention that it looks great. People are always remarking on how nice it looks. I only wish that the filters were a little tougher and stronger, but nothing is perfect I guess.

We struggled with installation as we did do it DIY, but we were patient and we got there. We remodeled our whole place DIY and this really fits into our theme with a touch of style. Make sure to buy some stainless steel cleaner, you’ll want it!.

This simple but functional hood works well in our small second kitchen. I have a bunch of stuff sitting on it and it shows no signs of distress. The vertical flue did need some polishing after installation.

The two stage lights and four fan speeds work very well. The fan isn’t silent, but it’s not bothersome either. Very good quality for this price point.

Looks good. The glass makes it less heavy. Installers didn’t have the easiest time installing i. But seems to work great and the price is right!

This looks wonderful in our renovated kitchen and it’s easy to use. I love it!

We are very happy with our Zline Convertible Vent Wall Mount Range hood. It add the perfect touch to our remodeled kitchen, was easy to install, the lighting is perfect with two choices for brightness, and it does a great job.

The only problem we are having is removing the fingerprints left on the stainless steel chimney after installation. I would suggest wearing some type of gloves when installing this range hood.

Nice looking and works well but if you have anything more than a 8′ ceiling this hood is not worth it. ZLine was WAY TOO MUCH for an extension which prices this thing out of the market. The extension is $180 or half the price of the hood!! We have 9′ ceilings and with the ZLine RA36 range we are still at 38″ above the range.

Code max is 36″ and personally it needs to be 33″ or 34″. We are giving it 4 stars because of good initiative bad judgement.

We used this to replace an over-the-stove microwave hood combination. The original opening in the cupboards and for the stove was 42″ and cobble shelves had been built on one side to take up the 12″.

Hence the original horizontal exhaust vent out the side of the house was centered on a 30″ hood/microwave. With an addition on the back of the house there was no room to move the vent over. With the way the hood is designed and the fan module bolts to the hood, I was able to modify it and move the fan unit and exhaust to the left to match up with the exhaust vent.

Took a little work and extending wiring, cutting metal, minor reinforcing(to make me feel better) and some additional sheet metal to cover wiring properly but it worked. Going to the right may not have worked without more extensive work.

Like the idea that the fan unit can also be easily removed for cleaning if needed (9 nuts or screws and unplug wiring harness. Fan was much more quiet that the one in the microwave and moved the air so much better (like 3 times).

Wish bulbs would have been included but able to find them. It took a certain touch to get them in (I was pushing in too hard at first) and make sure you hang onto the bulb suction cup tool. Very pleased!!.

First off, my deployment may not concern you or be an issue for you. However; if you are going ductless, the manufacturing process leaves horrendous welding spots along the top vent. They also affect the top of the range where the stainless steel ends.

For an expensive range, I should not have to look at these welding marks! Since these marks are not visible to the average person you may not care, but if you are using duct free, they are an eyesore.

The EZ install makes this a one man job. The cabinet brackets are fantastic, making it possible to do the job by yourself. The provided screws get the job done. The stranded electrical cabling requires attention when connecting the wiring.

Last but not least, pay attention to the curve in case your cupboard doors need adjusting, so you don’t scrape your new range. I would like to see a model like this equipped with dual fans, hi and low lighting and better switches.

But it’s hard to find that for under $400.

We purchased this to replace on old fan. One of our criteria was a good baffle as the old fan had no baffle and very cold air came in in the winter. The product looks good installed, and both the fan and lights are excellent.

Unfortunately Nutone has included a low end baffle. We had to call our Home Depot-hired installer back when we noted the baffle was stuck open. He came back and demonstrated that his installation was not at fault.

He said the hinge/pivots should have been metal. He called to confirm that he was NOT allowed to remove it for warranty/we must contact Home Depot regarding a return. I resolved it (for now) by adding weight – two large nails taped to the baffle cover causes it to close.

It opens/closes with high speed on/off. Low speed fan doesn’t quite open it. It works for now but Question for NuTone: will it stress the fan long term?.

The fan is decent, and relatively quiet as promised. The grease filters do a very good job of catching grease, which means regular cleaning is very important. After several annoying hand cleanings, I consulted the model information and discovered that the filters are “dishwasher safe”.

After one run in the dishwasher, they are absolutely ruined. Major black-ish discolouring and stains all over the mesh. Extremely disappointing, especially considering buying two replacement filters seems to cost almost as much as the entire unit.

Terrible.
