20 Best 4 Cycle String Trimmer (2022 Updated)

Today I opened my new Honda line trimmer to use for the first time. Trimmer started and wouldn’t run at full rpm as engine keeps sputtering. Has fresh gas, same gas used in my Honda mower when I mowed today, engine sputters more when it is trimming grass.

Bump head doesn’t advance line when tapped in the yard but will feed out line after hitting it HARD on the asphalt driveway. Reviews are correct about the bump head being junk. Trimmer is on the heavy side compared to prior trimmers I have owned.

I purchased this as I wanted a 4 cycle trimmer without messing with mixing oil & gas. I may have made a mistake especially if engine doesn’t stop sputtering and will have to take to be checked out. Would like Honda to respond concerning other complaints of engine sputtering and lack of power if this has been an issue with other HHT25SLTAT 4 cycle line trimmers and what corrections need to be made to correct this condition.

Or is this a Lemon??.

I previously wrote a less-than glowing review on this trimmer shortly after purchasing it. It was not published and I’m glad, because now that I’ve been using it regularly, my opinion has changed. Compared with my 2-stroke trimmer, this is much quieter, especially since I only need to run it at half throttle.

My 2-stroke also shook a lot, especially at lower rpm’s. At higher rpm’s the shaking turned into high frequency vibration; this Honda is very smooth throughout the entire rpm range. It’s probably a pound and a half heavier than my 2-stroke, but when you adjust the loop handle properly, the balance is perfect, so the extra weight is hardly noticeable.

Because of the stock trimmer head reviews, I never used it, opting instead to install a speed-feed head. It mates perfectly with this trimmer, requiring none of the included adapters. As far as the cold starting procedure, I followed the steps in the manual and that’s what initially aggravated me; it would not start with the choke closed.

I see from several other reviews I am not alone in this regard. I finally discovered a cold starting procedure that has worked consistently for me. Pull it once with the choke closed, then pull it with the choke open.

It has cold-started on the second pull every single time with this technique; first pull always when warm, of course. It would be nice if Honda installed a momentary stop switch which automatically returns to the start position, instead of the slide-style one they use, but it’s functional.

All in all, this is a pretty nice trimmer. The engine is certainly a proven design, so I’m not anticipating any problems with it for quite awhile.

I am re-posting an update from by one out of five stars last year. I’ve tried to use the trimmer now a few times this spring and it is worse than it was last year. Has been back to the dealer for warranty and no better than what it was.

I’ve only owned for four months of usable time and I’ve gone back to my very old two cycle trimmer. On my earlier post Honda customer support said they were going to reach out which they never did. Will be taking it back to the dealer one last time for repairs and if it is no better after that I will put another post in and a video on Internet showing how it runs.

Incredibly frustrated and disappointed and cannot recommend this weed eater.

All my life growing up we had the average residential trimmers I would use to maintain our propterty. When I got my house I got a basic residential craftsman trimmer. It did the job, but when I started my lawn care company it was time to upgrade to something reliable and powerful.

When I first started up this trimmer I was amazed at the lack of noise and vibration I had so long been accustomed to. At full throttle this thing purrs and is beyond the power and efficiency I have ever experienced so far.

Im extremely happy with this purchase and performance. I’d give this model a high end residential grade or entry level commercial grade rating. Definitely would recommend.

I have owned about 7 other gas weed trimmers in my life. None of them impressed me. The lithium Black and Decker melted down. Junk. I finally spent real money and just bought this Husqvarna. Easy to use.

Light. Barely any vibration. It demolished foot-high weeds for 3 hrs straight. Very impressed. From other reviews I’ve read I will not be disappointed!!!.

Coming from running an old two stroke homelite, this string trimmer is a Cadillac. Has great power and is light weight. Just mowed down a patch of kochia waist high without it bogging down. Seems to start a little hard.

I’ve used this 5/6 times since purchasing last month, using the recommended fresh premixed gas. This trimmer works really well and delivers great performance for mowing heavy grass, edging, light brush etc.

However everything in between is troublesome, this trimmer is very temperamental at startup. Even following the cold startup instructions to the letter – repeated priming, choke and pulls are required.

Even once it’s warmed it’s still finicky – going from idle engine speed to full throttle causes the engine to bog down and stalls every time. You have to stagger the throttle up slowly over a 4-5 seconds to avoid this.

This is very annoying, because it’s very easy to stall the engine , and you have to pull the rip cord 2/3 times to get it going again. For me – this is a deal breaker. I plan on returning this asap!.

The Husqvarna 329L is a well made string trimmer and performs well. However, I have two issues with this model. The first issue is with the string replacement spool for the T35 trimmer head, though the spool is larger than on my previous Husqvarna trimmer replacing the string on the spool is more cumbersome.

The second issue is that the trimmer vibrates more than my previous trimmer.

Trimmer gets very hot near the plug wire and burns the back of your forearm after a few minutes of use. Fuel take is too small for the 25cc engine. Had to refuel before finishing trimming at my 1. 5 acre property.

Love husqvarna and have never had these problems before.

Pros: It is light weight and rolls easily over rough ground. It has adequate power to cut my tallest and toughest weeds. The mower head can be stopped to remove debris without cutting the engine. The handlebar stays in its set position without loosening during use.

The debris shield works well. The mower lines attach securely. Standard Briggs & Stratton air filters fit. It is a very good value for the money. Cons: The cutting height is not really adjustable because if it is not set all the way up, the shaft is exposed and grass immediately wraps around it.

Removing it is difficult and requires removing the cutting head. The air filter is difficult to change due to its proximity to the wheel. The oil is difficult to fill without a special funnel. The belt tensioning instructions in the manual are poorly written, but support staff are helpful and knowledgeable.

It’s made in China.

I been using this walk behind trimmer for about a month, it does the job i need it to. The only minus i seen in it was the trimmer line was aready put in but they did not install it correctly i should have looked which made me sling the first set of trimmer line right off the walk behind thank goodness i had line already here for my first use.

I took down tall grass, weeds and even CatTails that were growing in our creek area. Its light enough to be used on slopes but sturdy enough to do its job.

Love my new Earthquake trimmer! Excellent design, easy to operate. Weight is perfectly balanced on the wheels which makes it easy to manipulate. Very little arm fatigue. Tons of cutting power and easy to load new cutting strings.

I would recommend this tool for not only tall grass and weeds but for everyday lawn maintenance.

I bought this about 3 years ago and it has maybe 10-15 hours on it. the Air filter cover keeps popping off. But the bigger problem is that the string cutter head seized right up an no longer spins. We have a fair bit of trimming to do each season so we were running it pretty hard for an hour or so.

Now we need to replace the whole unit. Upon inspection, the attachment’s drive shaft was also quite worn down on the end where it joins with the power unit, so I’m sure it was a short matter of time before that wore out as well.

Like all things Ryobi, in my experience, you can’t buy a replacement part (head), you have to buy the whole thing new.

The Ryobi 4-cycle 30cc curved shaft grass trimmer keeps my garden looking great. Well ballanced and easy to manouver. Lightweight and low noise level. 5 stars from me. Yes, I recomend this one.

Ryobi 4-cycle RY4CCS is an excellent investment for lawn care. No hassle just add gas and check the oil level in the crankcase, prime the bulb, put in choke and pull. Mine started up on the 1st pull.

Plus, it is attachment capable to give you options for use. I’m running 89 octane no ethanol fuel in it. The factory refurbed unit is indistinguishable from the new unit I saw at the box stores but at about half the price.

Bought first one about a year ago. Never have I used any machine so easy to start and operate. Is it heavy? Yes. Is it a 4 stroke motor? Yes. It is very capable and extremely powerful & reliable. Never will use a 2 stroke string trimmer again ever.

Ive owned dozens of the 2 stroke units from very expensive major brands to cheap ass Murray models. None of them lasted long (2 seasons at best) always had to fiddle to get them started- except when they were new.

I added counterweights on the head to make the machine have a zero-balance point where the strap attaches to make it efortless to accurately control the position while using the machine. Yes it did add about 19.

5 ounces. Added to the 14 pounds you’re already carrying (using a harness) it doesn’t really make any difference in overall weight. sure reduces fatigue from having to hold the head down during use. This is a truly wonderful machine!.

I have not yet put it through its paces but felt like an initial review was needed. I have read many negative reviews indicating this machine leaks oil and fuel. Manufacturer suggests 0. lL for initial oil fill.

In my case 50ml was all it needed to be at full level flat on leveled garage floor. The dipstick was bone dry before the fill. I do not see how it would be physically possible to put 100ml in it, but anywhere near that number would probably explain the oil leaks.

Other then that, built quality is acceptable, especially for the money. Put 50ml synthetic 10w-30 blend in it and non-ethanol fuel, primed 10 times and it started on the 2nd pull. Sounds fantastic. Installed a 10″ carbide tipped blade with 1″ arbor and it spins it with no issues and no additional hardware was needed to install.

Will take it to my overgrown property next weekend and see what it’s really made of. Will post a follow up then.

Bought this Badger to replace a 4 cycle Troy Bilt that had many, many quality problems. The Badger connects to all the attachments I already own, Edger, Hedge Trimmer, Pole Saw. The Badger is great so far.

Starts easily on the 2nd pull, well built and has so much more power than my old unit, even when it was brand new. Was easy to assemble. Keep checking the oil level with the dipstick on first fill as it could be easy to overfill.

It is a bit heavy but well balanced and can be used with or without the harness. On top of it all there is a 6 year residential warranty. I highly recommend this product – excellent value so far!.

I now have my 524LK trimmer about 2 years and I couldn’t be happier. It has perfect balance, it’s quiet, uses very little fuel and is very easy to restring. It starts on the first short, easy pull. My wife and I are senior citizens and have no trouble keeping our 2+ acres neatly trimmed.

I have purchased the hedge trimmer and the pole saw attachments and they also work flawlessly. I love having one powerhead that can be used for multiple jobs. I highly recommend this trimmer and attachments to anyone looking to upgrade.

Can’t forget the the no mixing oil with gas and no blue smoke and fumes!.

This trimmer is fantastic. Light weight and little to no vibration. If you have done much weed eating you know how it feels like you are shaking when you stop. Not with this one. Very smooth and powerful.

Used it to clean up around a pond on the golf course. Weed and grass were over a foot tall and very thick. It zipped right through with out even a strain.

While I do think this is a good trimmer, I just don’t love it. First of all, I don’t think it’s that powerful compared to my only other gas trimmer which was a 2 stroke 37 cc Sears model from way back.

The Husqvarna is a little lacking by comparison and bogs down much easier. The fact that there’s no compatible blades or other cutting options except the Husqvarna 3 blade plastic one bugs me too. I think I would have been happier with the Husqvarna model that’s about 10% more expensive, a bit heavier, has more power and more blade and cutting options.

I also seem to have trouble with the line breaking off on only one of the two ends. Seems like I’m forever removing the head cover and pulling out one again that broke off inside. It may be due to my inexperience, but it’s pretty annoying none the less.

I find that starting the motor usually takes 3-4 pulls unlike other reviewers who claim 1 pull. One pull is true sometimes if you just shut it off but not the norm for me. All in all, this trimmer does the job but could be much better for the money.

This is my first 4 cycle trimmer and I am a believer. This trimmer has great power and will cut through anything. The trimmer head feeds easily, it was very easy to start. Follow directions to the letter and you should not have a problems.

Be careful with the oil, make sure you do not add too much or it will smoke and bog down. Mine was refurbished so it did not come with the oil from the factory. I could not find the correct amount in the directions either.

Other than that little isssue, this is a great little trimmer.

Runs and cuts well, just take your time when putting oil in unit, use a funnel. I can trim and edge with this weed wacker and have had no problem. Comes with high quality string already to go, but I wish there were instructions on how to refill with new string.

All said, not a bad weed eater.

Iv’e brought lots of stuff refurbish in the pass, with no problem. So when ordering something refurbish, make sure whatever your ordering, don’t have the kind of parts that protrude or stick out from the product your buying.

Very poorly put together. I started it up when I got home and it sounded like it was falling apart. Rattling noises coming out of everywhere. Returned it immediately and went and bought a Stihl.

TLDR – a powerful, reliable beast that rips through knee-high weeds – but the bump feed doesn’t work. My Stihl FS40 has performed well and been 100% reliable for 5 years. It was used 4x per year to clear heavy weeds on my 1/4 acre property and had plenty of power to do so.

Our new property is much larger, well over an acre. The previous owners left us their walk behind string trimmer so I gave that 6hp beast a whirl. Not fun. Our property is sloped and uneven – and it took 20 minutes to partially clear a 100’ x 8’ section.

The motor kept bogging down and finally died. So I got out my FS-40 and after sitting for a year it started with four pulls. and proceeded to chew right through the knee high weeds that killed the walk behind.

40 minutes later the entire slope was done. I can recommend STIHL, but not the FS40. Do what I should have done – and what I’m going to do – and get one of Stihl’s step up models with the beefy trimmer head.

The “auto spool ” is tricky so far but i put that down to factory spooling. The engine ticks over smoothly. An extendable strap should be included in the package. Once started from factory new the restart is superb for a 2 stroke.

Minimum effort required. I hope in 10 years time I am still happy with it.

When we collected this item it had no fuel and no cutting string, so we were unable to see if it worked. There were a few other minor issues and had to get it serviced so it worked properly. Now its working brilliantly and we are very happy.

Works great, started on the second pull right out of the box. After assembly and oil of course, recommend break in period with the oil provided so read carefully. Light weight and pretty quiet, I don’t think I’ll be buying another one for quite some time.

As always, you get what you pay for. Also when reading reviews I noticed some concerns with tilting it sideways for edging, not a problem. No bogging down or cutting out. Recomended.

This is the best trimmer made. It accepts different attachments. I’ve been using it for the past 6 years in my lawn business with the trimmer and edger attachments. The 4 stroke Honda engine is bulletproof and you can trim most things at half throttle instead of having to use full throttle like you do on 2 strokes.

I have a Honda trimmer with the same engine that’s 15 years old and has never had any issues at all. That’s what led me to buy this Husqvarna model since it uses the same engine and accepts many different attachments as well.

I have to give credit where credit is due. The 130c is being used a a specific use trimmer for a commercial business. I was in need of a curved shaft trimmer to do close quarter trimming where it is impossible to use my long straight shaft trimmers due to close fencing around a/c units, it basically working in a maze.

After making a quick determination that a curved shaft trimmer would make the specific job a lot easier, then it was time to look at what was on the market these days. After looking at all the top brands that still offer a curved shaft trimmer, it was the Husqvarna 130C that I determined was best choice.

As I was going to slightly modify it, no other brands were compatible with what I wanted to do or they were built so cheap. The 130c out of the box is great for the homeowner that prefers a very lite ergonomic machine that offers high quality commercial features like the anti vibe and the control grip, most of all the powerband is stellar.

To keep this short, there is nothing that I don’t like about it. Keep in mind that curved shaft trimmers do not have a gear reduction head, so being a direct drive at higher rpm’s will drink fuel. I suggest if someone is in need for a lite unit like this stop into your local dealer, tractor supply, or lowes adjust the d handle for your liking and then try a straight shaft.

There are many reasons why a user would chose either or, but there is definitely a market for these curved shaft trimmers. They are 199 don’t let any dealer or store like lowes inflate the price. I had Lowes match the price.

I wasn’t a Husqvarna fan because I’ve used only certain brands from the past thirty years, but after using this little gem, there are a few other Husqvarna products that I will be purchasing. I’ve noticed that Dealers are trying to take advantage of the consumer, they are marking Husqvarna products way over MSRP and to make it worse, advertising that they are on sale at 20% over msrp.

I see people just walk back out the door and choose a different brand elsewhere.

Because of the previous review we were unsure whether this grass trimmer worked at all well. I mentioned to my husband maybe he should not purchase it but he said it was a very good make. He has used Husqvarna and Stilh chainsaws for years and considers them both the best on the market, so we forged ahead and purchased this Grass Trimmer.

My husband is very happy with it. He says it starts right away, has a lot of power, cuts through really thick high weeds which we have a lot of this year as we are on acreage and it has been very wet, plus what he likes the most is when he stops depressing the trigger, right away where the cord is, it stops spinning, so if he has any tangled grass/weeds where the cord comes out, he can remove them without stopped the grass trimmer.

His last one was less expensive and from Canadian Tire too but also had less power, where the cord came out if he stopped holding the trigger, where the cord was it would still spin, so he would have to turn off the machine to remove any tangled grass/weeds.

He is really happy with this grass trimmer and he is really fussy with his tools. As of now, with two uses, he is giving it a 5 star.

Just bought new. Opened box and it started up, but kept dying. After trying to read through the manual and troubleshoot ourselves we found a video online about adjusting the carb. Unfortunately, you can’t do this unless you buy a special tool.

So now I have a $200 USELESS weed eater unless I either spend more time and money to go find this tool locally or order online. This is ridiculous to require a specialty just to adjust something and the machine can’t run without it.

Either include it in the box or change the design. Most likely will returning it and asking for a refund. I’ll buy from a company that doesn’t try to nickel and dime their customers. Will never buy this brand again.

Folks, it’s a Honda. That should get you well on your way to buying. I’ve owned this unit before. Donated it when I thought due to age I could no longer trim my acreage. This new one brings back an old friend.

4 cycle beats incredibly loud, stinky two cycle products any day. No surprises with the previous one. Performed as expected. Just care for this unit as Honda recommends and it should serve you well. Put off due to price? You get what you pay for.

I purchased this trimmer with the brush-cutting function in mind. The trimmer is easy to set up,and change over from weed trimmer to brush cutter is fairly easy. While strapped on, it is awkward to pull the starter cord but literally a flip of the wrist and forearm, and it starts on the first pull.

The trimmer with a blade is powerful, but the blade dulls pretty easily. I will be looking for a replacement blade soon. The Trimmer head, as others have mentioned is pretty useless. I will be ordering the bump feed head as well.

The standard trimmer head is the only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars. I love the fact that this trimmer is not 2-cycle. Just like the other Hondas that I own, it is top quality, and I would buy it again.

I use the cutter in fairly thick brush cutting situations. The blade that came with it is not that great but with so many other blades out there, who cares. The Honda motor is pretty quiet and starts up easy.

I dont find it heavy, and I like that its a four-stroke. I noticed I was using my arms and shoulders too much and started letting the harness support most of the weight, and cutting becomes pretty effortless.

This trimmer works really good. It comes with everything you need to get started, the string, the oil and even a can of gas. It cuts through most grass and weeds quickly and cleanly (up to about a half-inch in diameter) with the trimmer string, but will also work with other trimming attachments (such as a brush cutter head) for heavier work.

It’s pretty powerful and works nicely, requiring only one pass for most cuts, even in fairly heavy grass & weeds. As you’d expect, it feels a little different than using a 2 stroke trimmer, mainly in that the motor seems slightly slower to respond if it does get slowed down in heavy weeds.

One thing to note, I saw that the instructions say to use with only ethanol free gas. In my area, there’s nowhere close by that I can buy ethanol free gas which means I’m stuck buying the canned gas, and that can be pretty pricey.

That being said, I was able to use the trimmer for a couple of hours and trim up a large section of property, with fuel left over, using the provided can, so I don’t think I’ll have to buy fuel that often.

Lastly, It does seem to go through string pretty quickly, but the brush I was cutting was very dense and had several large (over half-inch diameter) brush which I’m sure was a contributing factor. Overall, I’m really happy with it.

This is an average trimmer. Pros: 1) This trimmer has above average power for cutting thick grass. I had no issues trimming or it getting bogged down. 2) This trimmer is very easy to start and idles smoothly.

It starts on the first pull. It runs well and slows down to a good idle and never stalled. 4) My favorite thing about this trimmer is that you don’t have to mix gas and oil like you normally do for a 2 cycle.

Cons: 1) This trimmer is very heavy, so after awhile it is tiring to use. This isn’t a big deal if you have a small area to trim, but it can be difficult for larger yards (we have 2 acres). 2) The way the trimmer head is shaped made it hard to get a flat cut.

I tried several grip and arm positions to try to get a flat cut, but I wasn’t able to get a flat cut. 3) The trim line bump mechanism didn’t advance the line by bumping, but the trimmer was able to support a much heavier line.

Overall, it wasn’t a big deal. 4) The trim line broke off at the head. I had trouble taking the head off to pull the line out. Overall, this trimmer is an average trimmer. The difficulty I had with taking the head off to change the line was my least favorite thing about the trimmer.

I really liked not having to mix oil and gas to run and the thicker trim line. I would recommend this trimmer for people who have smaller areas to trim. I wouldn’t recommend it for people who have large areas to trim.

We had an electric trimmer that was a total pain to use, so we decided to try this Troy-Bilt TB304H 30cc 4-Cycle Straight Shaft Gas Trimmer and wow, what a difference. This is so powerful and yet, not very loud.

The 17′ cutting swath cut my trimming time literally in half. I assumed that a gas trimmer would be heavy, but I was wrong – it’s lightweight and very easy to use. The pull start is easy to use,even for my 5’1′ wife and it starts on the first pull.

The best feature is the Click N Trim Bump Head – with my other trimmer I was constantly cutting, removing, replacing the trimmer string – this is so convienient. I just wish I had purchased this years ago, I would have saved myself a lot of trimming time.

I bought one of these trimmers after using (and wearing out) a 42cc 2 stroke trimmer from one of the orange competitors. At first I wasn’t sure if the straight gas mini 4 stroke was a gimmick or if it was as good as I had read, long story short it’s better than I could have hoped for and I will be a return customer.

I run valvoline full synthetic 10w-30 in mine and change the oil every 5 gallons of gas, a reasonable interval since this thing barely sips fuel. I had a job trimming a one acre field of thistle, clover, cat tail, and other tough weeds that was too uneven for my brush mower to navigate.

6 hours later the field was cut and I’d only been through 2 gallons of gasoline! I’ve never had a trimmer that started easier, ran smoother or quieter, or used so little fuel. I’m impressed with the machine every time I use it which is quite often being a commercial contractor.

And don’t let the cable shaft scare you off. It will run a blade with the best of them if you keep your demands reasonable and use good technique. Buy this trimmer and a good forestry harness and you’ll be amazed by how easy, comfortable, and downright enjoyable the chore of brush cutting can be.

I’ve been using string trimmers since they first came on the market in the early 1970’s. Corded trimmers? Cords. 2-stroke trimmers? Temperamental. So, I finally bit the bullet and bought a pricey 4-stroke trimmer.

I chose Honda because of the unparalleled reliability I’ve had with my Honda mower that I purchased in 1988, it just won’t quit. Yes, their products are pricey but taken care of, they might just outlive their owner! So, I’m just now getting around to this trimmer review after owning it for about 4 years, but that makes it all the more relevant.

Like my mower, it continues to run like a top and is worth every dollar it cost. I can’t say how many 2-stroke trimmers I’ve thrown away, so by all means get a 4-stroke machine, and make it a Honda if you can.

I used mine almost entirely with the 10 inch saw blade to remove 1-3 inch sapling undergrowth in a wooded area rather than bending down with a chainsaw. Saved my back for sure. Took some practice but then live saplings were history in one semi aggressive pass right at ground level.

Paired with Woodmax 1260 chipper cleaned up a few acres in a few weekends. Any smaller engine trimmer probably not powerful enough for this demanding job.

My Wife and I went Pro this season (part time last Fall). Our 525LST was purchased in a Fleet Bundle. We already owned a 525RX and knew the quality, feel, and power of the 525 power-head. Taking advantage of the Fleet program aloud us to get into quality equipment while saving on our initial start-up investment.

That said, if you can add only one piece of handheld equipment at a time the 525LST should be a first choice. Light enough to run around the manicured residential lawns all day, and all the power you would/could need to drift off to the ditch line to take out the heavier, denser weed growth.

Flip it around and run as an Edger, runs fantastic in any position that we’ve used it. Power to weight is the best of all the trimmers I’ve used, hands down. Our business is growing rapidly, and we believe that running quality equipment such as this 525LST enables us to do consistent, timely, professional service.

Wow! Very impressed with the performance! I have used Husqvarna tool/equipment for decades and they are very good, to the point of not switching brands. (However, I’ve tried their 4-stroke trimmers and would not recommend them.

Bought 2 new ones and returned both within a month. Very temperamental and unreliable but I digress. )Thankfully I stayed with the 2-cycle and added the 525 to my fleet. What a great difference! Starts fast, very peppy, cuts like a champ, doesn’t give up and low vibration.

I have some old Husqvarna trimmers, saws, blowers etc and I forsee this one hanging with them for years and years to come. If you are on the fence buying the 525. get it. You can’t go wrong!.

Weight- great, every ounce counts when your using 4+ hrs straight Throttle trigger-great, doesn’t require any effort Fuel tank-larger but needs to be even bigger: this thing drinks the fuel compared to similar trimmers Anti vibration feature-feel more vibration in this compared to similar echo/Stihl Bump feed head-took off before using:if it’s not a speed feed or similar it’s a waste.

These need to come from factory with a speed feed. I installed the husqvarna speed feed but it falls short of the echo speed feed LST/high torque-I don’t have the non torque model but doesn’t seem to have any more then my non torque echo/stihl Choke lever-difficult to engage especially with gloves on and feels as if catching on the plastic housing Starting-easy starting , have 40hrs on it so far.

I have 2 of the 525L trimmers. Bought the first one in 2019 loved it! Trimmer head went out in early 2020. With Covid there was zero customer support at shops. So I bought a second one in 2020 figuring that when Covid was over I would get the first one fixed.

The second unit trimmer head gearbox went out in late 2020. Dealer said they were 6 months out before they could touch it. Second dealer said that they no longer dealt with Husqvarna warranties. So I bought 2 trimmer head bevel gears and used the trimmers through 2021.

Towards the end on 2021, one of the trimmers quit running. I have thrown everything at it, tune up, carb, fuel lines. Starts and dies when you give it throttle. Anyway I am on here trying to decide what to replace it with and thought I should give a long term review.

These are good units. I use these an average of 6 hours a day at an hour to an hour and a half at a time. Wish the servicing dealers were as good as the machines. I may still buy another one. Low weight, great power, great fuel economy.

I haven’t found another unit that compares in the power to weight ratio.

525L is a strong trimmer, cuts everything with ease. When it runs. Stopped like I just turned it off while using. Took it in for a warranty repair. They charged me less than $30. 00 and returned it to me stating it was simply flooded.

Okay, I’m not perfect so I paid the fee because I was happy to have my workhorse back. Didn’t last the entire day till it just cut off while using. Returned it to the shop and they replaced the ignition coil and all was good till the warranty ran out.

It cut off while running just like before. Took the coil off my 525ECS because its the same engine, its simply an edger. Trimmer fired right up after the part swap no problem. Felt good about everything till I priced a replacement part.

$114. 00 or $70. 00 for a used one on Ebay. Very disappointed with the Husqvarna quality. Replacement parts are nearly 33% of the initial cost of new one. Just like the title say, Good product till it’s not.

Hard to believe same part failed multiple times.

Purchased this model on 8/7/21 and had trouble with it CONSTANTLY. I was only able to use it about 3 or 4 times before I finally decided to exchange it for a different model. Every time I started it up (oil+gas mixture measured perfectly), it would work for about 30 minutes and then die.

That was WHEN it would actually start. Many times, it wouldn’t start at all, or it would act like it was going to start and then I’d put the choke down and it would die again. Right before I returned it, I noticed that the only way it would start up was if the choke was up but as soon as you put it down, it would start to die unless you pull the choke up again.

It basically would only “run” if you were constantly pulling the choke up and down. I’ve never been more disappointed in a string trimmer. I purchased this to replace my Troy-bilt that had lasted me about 4 years.

Husqvarna has a good reputation so I thought I was putting my money into something that would last, how wrong I was. Once I exchanged the first trimmer for a different model, I couldn’t even get the BRAND NEW ONE to even start.

I followed the directions to a tee and nothing. Luckily, my local Tractor Supply has EXCELLENT customer service and not only did they let me exchange the first one for a newer, more expensive model, but once I realized the second was complete crap, they just let me get a full refund for the trimmer AND the extended warranty.

Do yourself a favor, avoid Husqvarna string trimmers and put your money into something that actually works and will last.
