20 Best 4 Gpm Pressure Washer (2022 Updated)

I received this product and it took me a while to get it to run when I finally did get it to run, it lost pressure and when I checked the engine oil water came out of it. Obviously, something broke inside.

I called Pressure Washer Direct and all they can say is take it directly to Simpson instead of trying to even help. I mean it’s a $1200 dollar machine that doesn’t work. I don’t even want a refund I just needed another machine ASAP to keep my business running.

Great pressure washer with a quality engine and pump. Pressure and flow are great! During assembly, the handle bolt holes didn’t line on one side, I cut it so it would line up versus drilling a larger hole that would be more slotted.

The pump outlet quick disconnect was out of round and the lock collar wouldn’t seat. I had to use a pair of channel locks to squeeze it back into shape so the quick disconnect would function. I would have preferred it didn’t have a dedicated downstream injector at the pump made of brass, but didn’t catch that in the specs and it’s not removable.

Lastly, their supplied hose end leaks until you have full pressure.

Finally had a chance to use this machine in some warm weather. Surface cleaned the driveway and removed mildew from the 2nd story of our house. Extremely impressed. Started on 2nd pull. Was using a 3000psi 2.

5gpm machine. The Simpson cut my cleaning time down to half. Great pressure easily allowed me to treat the 2nd story. Range with the 2nd story nozzle seemed like double of my old pressure washer. Surface cleaning took little time.

2 passes on some areas. Compared to my old washer, it took 3-4 passes. One area of improvement would be the hose. I don’t like it. Leaks until pressure is brought up. May just continue to use my old hose.

Overall, I’m impressed. Does the job.

I just got this pressure washer today am very happy with the purchase. It was packed well enough to not be damaged by some obvious rough handling during shipping from Amazon. It was simple enough to assemble and add the oil and gas to it.

Mine had the kinked detergent hose like many others have reported, which required removing it from the pump, cutting off the kinked end and then reattaching it to the pump. Also as had been reported, the location of the connection for the garden hose is less than ideal, as it places the hose across the wheel.

This would obviously cause wear on the hose, so I’m going to get an angle connector to address the issue. The pressure hose is very stiff, much stiffer than some other pressure washers with in the same pressure/GPM rating, but those pressure washers are also much more expensive than this one.

I may replace the hose if this one doesn’t become less stiff with usage. I like the fact that the pressure washer has a fuel shutoff, but wish that it also had a pressure adjustment knob. When actually using the pressure washer, it couldn’t be much easier without being electric start.

It cranked on the first pull once I realized that I switched the choke off instead of on when I moved the switch the same direction as the fuel cutoff. A more intuitive design would have them both going on and off the same direction since they are located so near each other on the machine.

I tried the pressure washer out with the included nozzles and a 15″ surface cleaner. With all tests, it worked great and cleaned many years of dirt and mildew off of my concrete patio. There were no leaks of any kind.

I expect that it will work great for me for occasional residential use. I might have been willing to spend more if I were going to use this very often at multiple properties, but now that I have this I am not sure why I’d need to.

This pressure washer is exactly what it looks like. It’s a very solid product that does exactly what it’s expected to do at a price that nothing else in the same range can compete with. With a nicer hose, a design change that made the garden hose point a better direction, and packing that didn’t kink the detergent hose at the pump, I’d be giving a 5-star rating instead of a 4-star rating.

A pressure adjustment knob would be a great addition, but even without it this a great pressure washer for the price.

I spent a lot of time looking for a pressure washer capable of moving a lot of water at a reasonably high pressure. Such washers are available from many vendors, but I also had one particular requirement beyond performance, and that is, it was critical for me to have something I could lift without endangering my back AND something that would fit into the back of my minivan while remaining upright.

This is the only unit on the market (as far as I know) that meets these requirements. I had used a borrowed unit from another maker that was fabulous, but it took me an hour to get it into my van alone, because the thing was so heavy I had to build a frigging ramp to load it up! This unit being reviewed has no such issues, I can easily lift it into my van, which for me was a huge benefit.

THIS REVIEW IS PRE-USE, so please keep that in mind. That said, everything about the unit so far is great. Easily and quickly assembled, everything copiously labeled and packaged, with stickers about stuff like bolt sizes in case you need to replace something.

The manual is extremely detailed and complete. I do want to mention something that has come up in other reviews that I think is a bogus complaint. There have been people complaining about the wheel hubs cracking.

I am delighted at the light weight of this unit, but this is achieved partly by not having heavy steel wheel hubs with heavy pneumatic tires! It is obvious to me that, if I roll my unit down some concrete stairs (or something similar to that) that I HAVE TO BE CAREFUL to lower the unit SLOWLY so as to not stress the wheel hubs.

If you just allow the unit to “drop” onto each step as you take it down some stairs, of course you will break your hubs eventually. The people who are complaining about the wheels being “weak and breakable” are just people who are to lazy to navigate stairs carefully.

I am happy to have such a lightweight unit, and I plan to keep my wheels unbroken by paying attention to what I am doing, and recognizing that the relatively weak wheel hubs are probably the main reason I can pick this unit up and put it in my van.

Although I haven’t run the unit yet, based on events so far, I am very happy with my purchase.

This pressure washer arrived while my husband was traveling and since I am the one who loves to pressure wash I really wanted to get it going. Assembly and start-up were fairly straightforward. Good packaging of parts for assembly (separate bags and clearly labeled).

I agree with other reviewers the Quick Set-up Guide is not the best as it is missing information about necessary tools to assemble, and you really need to be able to read the instructions and follow the diagrams correctly.

Fortunately, I had the Allen wrenches, etc. needed and since there were not many pieces to put together it was ready to fire up in about 15-20 minutes. (If you are mechanically inclined I’m sure it would take less time.

) The instructions to start the unit were clear and it started running on the first cord pull. After about 10 minutes of use there was a sputter, some smoke, and a smell coming from the carburetor, but it must have just been some new machine burn off as it didn’t happen again – but this unit does get hot! Watch where you touch it.

Didn’t try the soap compartment yet (need specific pressure washer soap), and I think it may take some testing of the different nozzles to get a feel for which works best for what job. The stucco walls and wood plank ceiling of the screen porch came out great.

Did need some mold & mildew remover to get some of the bad stains off, but looks so much better. Excited to do the driveway and sidewalks!.

Assembly took roughly 20 minutes as there really isn’t a whole lot to put together. It came with 2 screws. The rest just pretty much snaps together. Instructions are pretty easy to follow. Love the locking wheel feature.

We use this pressure washer mainly for removing the salt from our Yukon. With living in Michigan, our vehicle gets coated with road salt every time we leave the house. We are lucky enough to have a large heated garage with a floor drain.

The Sun Joe SPX3220 works great for removing the salt and chunks of ice that build up under our vehicle. After spraying down with soap we like to use mainly the 40° nozzle for washing/rinsing. Sometimes we switch out to the 25° nozzle for tougher areas.

The quick connect makes switching nozzles a breeze. Love the 35ft. cord. Makes it very easy for getting around and under the vehicle.

We love this pressure washer. It has come in handy for so many tasks around our house and with our vehicles. Most recently I have used it on our plastic outdoors chairs and they now look brand new! It is super easy to get started, just plug it in and hook up the water.

There are five different nozzle attachments which makes it perfect for all of the different things we need to clean. It also has a tank for cleaning detergent. That is a great feature especially for tackling big messes.

The wheels turn great at 360 degrees making it easy to pull around and get into spots. Overall very impressed with the power this machine puts off and how many cleaning tasks we are now able to take on!.

I have always used gas powered pressure washers. This electric washer has convinced me that it is the way to go. I like that I don’t have to mess with getting gas and treating it between uses. This model has a 35 ft long cord with a built in GFI.

The hose is 20ft and the wand and 5 quick connect nozzles are all I could ever need. It has adjustable pressure between hi (2300 max PSI- 1800 under load) and Low (1050 PSI-80 under load). It is nice to be able to adjust the flow as I don’t need to step back when I need a lesser pressure.

The onboard soap tank adds to the compact nature of the unit. It has four wheels and moves easily. The pump shuts off when the trigger is disengaged. It appears to be very well made and with care should last as long as I will need it.

I am very happy with this unit.

I purchased this pressure washer online and picked it up on March 29. When I Open the box later that day, for assembly the unit was coded in oil, in spite of the box clearly stating there is no oil in the unit.

Every effort to start it a week later proved futile, it refused to fire up. Gas was spotted leaking out of the bottom of the carburetor and there was no compression whatsoever. After consulting with a Generac representative, he advised me to take it to a service business an hour and a half from my home.

Remember, this product has never ever been started in its entire existence as my pressure washer. After checking my brand new never been started pressure washer, the service depot told me the entire insides were soaked with oil as was the air filter.

They accused me of storing it on its side, something that I never did. They want me to pay for a new air filter and the work involved in cleaning and flushing the carburetter where oil had all leaked into, something I refuse to do as I was not responsible for storing it on its side.

If I could turn back time I would never ever have purchased this piece of crap, and gone with the one with the Honda engine. Now I am out over $400 plus my time and gas expense to go to the service establishment, and I still don’t have my pressure washer back, so I will have to take the time and expense to drive there again once it’s finally repaired.

And no doubt be held responsible for cost in attempting to get the BRAND NEW, NEVER BEEN USED pressure washer functioning. I am livid.

Purchased this at a big box store, was originally looking at an electric version, glad I went with the gas model. The electric ones returned in taped up boxes means only one thing. After blasting the loose paint off our deck, and another day- power washing the siding on our house I have to say this machine was the answer.

Plenty of power. Starting it is a learning process. Make sure there is oil in the clear oil sight on the pump, check engine oil level. Use only, and I am going to stress this- use high grade gas with no ethanol.

Turn on gas valve, close choke- 1 pull, then open choke- One or two pulls usually starts. There is no clear indicator if the choke is on or off. Another caveat is you have to squeeze the spray nozzle to release pressure on the pump, or the engine is hard to turn over – maybe they could of added a pressure bypass feature.

I found the hose a little short, maybe a 35 foot hose would be better as I had to move the machine around more often when on the ladder- by the way, be carefull you can be blown off ladders with this beast, and also wear safety glasses- this is not a toy.

After walking around the yard looking for the color coded spray nozzles, it appears they vibrate out of the holder, not a huge issue- but an annoyance. All in all I would recommend the Dewalt 3200, the pump and motor are serviceable- unlike most brands.

The Simpson PowerShot 4000psi pressure washer with Honda pump is a workhorse of a machine. I was pleasantly surprised to see that it had the power to blast the grime off my driveway removing many years of over spray from DIY projects and baked in oil stains.

Additionally, I purchased through another vendor a Foam Cannon to make short work of various cleaning tasks including the Tractor, Trucks, and even the brick on my house. I provided five star feedback because it does everything as advertised at about half the price of it’s competitor from another well known pressure washer brand.

My only complaints thus far are as follows: no pressure gauge to tell what level you have set the pressure to; pressure relief valve is very hard to turn both under pressure and without pressure; the hose is very stiff, just a step better than the cheap pressure washers; the handle is far too short to be useful; and finally it would be nice if there was a tank for chemicals.

We have no way to get a bucket underneath the level where it needs to be. But, a gravity feed tank would make things much easier.

When I first got this out and set it up I was thinking this deserved 3 stars due to the misprint on the instruction manual and some of the plastic parts that could probably be metal and last longer. But then I used it and was impressed with how it performed against a unit I had rented a few months prior and thought it might be a 4 star situation.

THEN I used it a second time and I’ve been won over. The parts I was concerned about are holding up just fine, the lightweight build is way easier to move around, the small size makes it fit easily in the corner of my garage.

Any frustrations I had with the inital setup are long forgotten. 5 stars it is. So far I’ve only used this to clean my cement driveway, but I did test out the pressure-adjustable wand to make sure it would be safe to use on my nice patio furnature and my car.

It is handy that it has a little gauge on the handle that shows how the wand is adjusted because it is a little touchy to get it to stay at a medium pressure. The high pressure wand, though, is something to be careful with.

It really made short work of my very dirty driveway. I’m going to attach 3 pictures. One showing how compact it is for storage when not in use, one showing how well it worked on my driveway, and one showing the issue I had with the instruction manual.

The image that tells you the name of each part didn’t come out right so there was a little extra time spent trying to interpret what part to install in what order. A little frustrating, for sure, but after you have it set up that first time you’re good to go.

I found the Karcher K5 electric power washer to be a good washer. The pros are that the wands attach rather easily, the ability to change the pressure on the wand without having to change out a nozzle head, it’s lightweight and easy to maneuver around, it’s compact and easy to store, and it’s pretty quiet.

It has decent power, making short work of cleaning the dirt and pollen from our screened lanai and cleaning the car. The main con for me was that there are a lot of plastic parts. I’m concerned that it’s only a matter of time before they start leaking and breaking, but we’ll see.

I thought I’d love the wrap-around hose holder but it’s actually more of a bother to hassle with. Overall opinion if that if you’re only doing basic, around-the-house jobs, it’s a nice tool to have as a home owner.

Ive had this pressure washer for about 2. 5-3 years and runs like a dream still. Bought this for commercial and residential use and have had no problems at all. Starts right up every time. I did replace the gun and hose I think.

I am a female, 5’3” tall, and 107 lbs. and it just about wants to knock me down. I have to have a tight grip. Powerful. I’d recommend all day long.

Had this unit for a couple weeks and used a few times. You need plenty of upper body and arm strength to use this beast. My boyfriend is 6’2″ and strong, and he needs a break after only 1 hour of use.

The 50ft hose is very nice to have for reach. I recommend Simpson include the rotating power turbo nozzle in the box. I used one years ago on an electric Karcher power washer and loved it. This Simpson PS60918 washer has been used to clean, swimming pool concrete deck, glass shower doors and frame, vinyl house siding, vinyl pool fencing, automobiles, pool cover, and a composite pool sunning lounge chair.

No pretreat was necessary, but it did take a little longer to remove years of black growth on the exterior vinyl and composite items. The washer looked identical to the pictures on the box. I just submitted the online registration.

I bought the 4 year extended warranty through Lowes, which provides for an additional 2 years of engine warranty coverage. This takes the engine coverage to 5 years of Extended Protection Plus. The pump has a 5 year limited Commercial Warranty, and the frame has 10 years.

All together with the manufacturer and Lowes additional warranty, that comes to 9 years of protection. I hope if a time comes to need warranty work that an authorized service center isn’t too far away and that the customer service and work is satisfactory or better.

I did quite a bit of research on pressure washers before deciding on this model by Generac. Like most people the immediate thing that made it stand out was the price. Compared to other PW’s in the 4200 PSI range you were looking at saving a minimum of $200 to $300 clear up to $700.

I kinda liked that. I knew Generac had made generators since forever and had a solid rep in that field. The pump they used was the same as the other competitors with a couple of exceptions where they were using CAT pumps which was a little better quality but you definitely paid for it.

Add to it the reviews on the gun and hose they supplied had good reviews and that sports fans covers the components of a PW (except for frame and ALL reviews on that we’re good). Received mine and it was packaged well, had easy straight forward assembly instructions.

Put in gas and oil, choked it, pulled once on the starter rope and it fired right up. Starting it was a concern as I love Honda small engines which start super easy but my fears were unfounded as it has started and ran like a champ.

It is a heavy unit but it is remarkably well balanced on the frame and is easier to move around than my old one which weighs half of what this one does. As for power – good lord you could do a frontal assault on a M1A1 Abrams tank and take the sucker out! Serious power.

Not for kids or even adults with a small build and lacking in upper body strength. This is a great product and I’m very impressed with it. Only thing I would recommend Generac work on is the placement of the starter rope in relation to the frame.

It’s a bit hard to get to. Just an annoyance, not a problem. Buy this thing. It’s a winner and you will be happy with your choice.

I bought this in April. When I finally had time to do the minor assembly and go to use it, it never started. After I wrote the initial review this company contacted me and suggested I contact Generac directly.

It’s been a back and forth and the machine still doesn’t work and neither is willing to fully refunded me. I’m notifying the Better Business Bureau. I’ve tried to have it looked at by a qualified Generac repair service but no one will come look at it so it’s expensive USELESS junk.

Adrain that works for Factory Pure accused me of “buyer’s remorse” due to the price and said they would start the return at a 15% restocking fee. Don’t buy from this company. And don’t buy Generac.

very good unit. it arrived in good condition. very little set up. The oil was a little hard to get in,( tipping the machine up in it’s side helped a lot). all of these small engines have the same issue.

It is a little touchie to start. It applies soap VERY quickly, two liters in a few minutes. It is larger than I needed, but I run it at reduced pressure and engine speed. to prolong it’s life. worked very well stripping my concrete wall and wooden deck.

also very good at cleaning farm equipment. With soap. Had no problems with the wheels or contacting the muffler. I do recommend reading the manual twice it helped a lot. I also downloaded a electronic version, in case I damage or lose the hard copy.

Purchased to wash heavy construction equipment, dozer, excavator, etc. Quality stainless construction, Honda power is always good. Very happy with this unit. 4 gal min at 4000 lbs cuts dirt on undercarriage very quick.

I use a turbo tip for this job and its just amazing. The turbo tip seems to keep back spray at a minimum. Eats through heavy cooked on dirt faster than anything I have ever used before. 4gpm and 4000 lbs can be hard on delicate decals and paint.

use caution. Cons. As others have mentioned the generic owners manual is lacking but if you are somewhat familiar with mechanical equipment you wont need it anyway.

My business is powerwashing and only powerwashing- my success or failure depends on the machine, period. That’s why I chose the BE 4000psi model with the Comet pump (used by Ferrari & made in Italy).

If it’s good enough for Ferrari it’s good enough for me. The results- 100% customer satisfaction and I never need chemicals. “Always Clean, Always Green” is my company motto and as I expand I will ALWAYS use BE.

It’s simply the best in the business.
