20 Best 42 Inch Range Hood (2022 Updated)

If you search for a range hood, there is an identical one that does not have outside venting, so make sure you pick the right one. Overall the installation was smooth. I did one for my house, this one was for my mother and I had no issues with the installation.

Decent lighting. Somewhat less suction than the one I removed but the old one had a fan that was many times larger. Still in all good suction on this unit.

This is a great basic no frills range hood. It’s not going to wow anybody but if you’re replacing an older, dated or non-functioning model with similar size and specs and the same rectangular duct work to attach it to this is the way to go.

The light just has a basic plastic opaque cover over it that clips into place, but like the rest of the unit it gets the job done. Installation was a breeze and it slid right up to out existing duct work.

The finish looks great, cleans easily and feels like it’ll hold up to years of use.

Exact replacement for my mobile home’s worn out range hood. Installed fairly easily. I like that it has 2 speeds, whereas my old range hood only had one. This range hood cost about 1/2 of what I could get one for locally.

First of all, have to acknowledge Z Line’s OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Truly, something that is lost in todays business world, they excel in customer service. Upon opening and inspecting the product, one of the baffle filters was missing the release knob.

I called to inform them, Z Line was willing to send entirely new filters, which I declined, just needed the knob. it was sent out and received within 3 days! After just installing the hood last week, after sitting for several weeks as I’ve been too busy to install, I also just realized a grease cup/trap was not included.

The build quality of the product is certainly up to par, and everything seems well built, including the design of the motor and chimney. Some people have commented on the lack of quality of the stainless steel, not sure what the problem is there, it is thin stainless and somewhat flimsy, but you don’t need heavy gauge steel for such a product, it would be too heavy.

I do feel there should be more support in the corners of the chimney and some better support for rigidity, maybe this is where heavier stainless would be beneficial. Here’s the issue with the hood, it is LOUD!!! Level 1/2 sound more like med/high, and 3/4 are just down right borderline noise pollution.

And level 4 literally sounds like a semi truck in our upstairs master bedroom. It’s quite strange, there is no rattling of any metal or serious vibration, but more of a rolling thunder at this highest setting.

And forget about having a conversation close to the hood. All this said, it does the job. it sucks up the humidity and smoke, does not totally alleviate all aromas, but immensely better than the replaced 20 year old cabinet mount hood we had.

Bottom line, you get what you pay for in my experience in life. This was a great deal for $$$, it’s a beautiful exterior design, and it does the job. I would not be happy at all if it were twice the price, and I’m certainly curious if their more expensive and higher CFM units have the same issue with noise.

Oh yes, and the button functions are not super user friendly. You have to hit a power button, then the desired speed you want, should just be able to hit the speed and thats it, I don’t understand this design at all.

I’m quite torn on this company, been looking at their ranges and want to purchase one by this summer, beautiful and simple commercial design, but now I’m concerned about the quality that they would perform.

I’m a former 4 star fine dining sous chef, I know good products, so I’m maybe a bit more critical than the average home cook. If you are looking for quiet exhaust, this is likely not the hood for you.

I’m really disappointed to be so brutally honest, wish I had a better review for their product, because with such amazing customer service, they have put some time in to building this brand the right way.

So Z Line, if you are listening. love what you guys are doing and the price point, but make it even better, even if you have to increase the price.

The hood fits perfectly into the theme of our 100 year old farm house. The option to add the stainless steel moulding was the perfect touch. We only have 7′ ceilings so had to purchase the short ceiling kit in addition to the hood.

We went with the recirculating option and while it does a good job we mY end up doing a direct vent as we can still set off the smoke detector! It’s not a quiet fan by any means but it is great quality for a very reasonable price.

After using our new range hood for a few weeks, we can say that so far we are quite pleased. The styling of the KE-36-400, even though modern, does blend well with our slightly more traditional kitchen.

The fan is quiet, especially on the lower settings, and we find that we rarely need the highest setting anyway. The lower settings eliminate odors just fine if we run it during the actual cooking, even fish odors! The lights are awesome, and we love that you can adjust the angle, although a wonderful improvement would be to have the adjust brightness as well (for a night light setting).

Overall, a terrific product! HOWEVER, I will say that the installation directions leave a lot to be desired. We are a moderately handy couple, with renovation experience and a selection of tools, but this took us several hours to install.

The instructions show only the KB model, which is slightly confusing; in addition, the illustrations are tiny. It would have been so helpful to have a template for the screw mount holes; such a simple addition of a piece of paper to the kit! Instead you must either make your own template, or hold that heavy unit up to the wall and mark the hole locations.

Integration of the crown molding was poorly explained, and we had to laugh after it took us 30 minutes to figure out how to remove the baffles, it is NOT intuitive! And, grease cup? Huh? Oh – it’s that little piece of plastic that looks like a piece of the packaging, so be careful not to toss it! We muddled through and successfully installed the unit, but during the process our comments went along this line: “I could write such better instructions for this!” A small investment of time for improved diagrams and instructions could make the buyer experience so much better.

Other reviewers commented that they didn’t have much trouble with the installation, so maybe we are less competent than we think, but for a product that is sold for DIY, instructions are a major component.

Thank you to the other reviewer who explained how the fan buttons work, since there are no instructions for that, either! Overall, a very good range hood, and we would purchase again; but one star off for the instructions!.

OK, the first one I received was damaged, Ferguson immediately sent a replacement. they were great to work with! The second hood was fine, no issues at all. It was easy to install but you will need two people to do it as it is heavy.

This works like a professional hood, you will need to crack a window as it REALLY moves air! There are intake vents you can purchase and install to alleviate cracking a window. Its not quiet but no big hood like this really is, generally the lowest two settings will be all you need and those aren’t too bad for noise.

The lights deliver plenty of light to see what you are doing. The clean lines of this hood make it easy to keep clean and the filters come out easily for cleaning. I do wish there was another filter that stopped all the grease, I will need to make one as some grease does get the baffles.

But for the money, if you want something that will truly clear the smoke out quickly, this is a good buy.

First, we should have paid attention to the weight of this item–because of the unique construction of our kitchen, we had to reinforce where the bolts were placed. Installation was easy, we had a contractor and my husband assisted.

The design is great, it extends over the front burners so it catches more of the moisture being released by the cooking food. Lights are bright, looks like it will easy to clean. However, it sounds like a jet plane taking off–on the lowest setting.

It is not nearly as quiet as I believed it to be from the reviews.

I love love love this range hood. Its great quality, solid and very well made. I will be using it with my all white cabinets, white countertops and stainless appliances. I chose this because its eye catching,and different enough that I know I wont see it in anyone elses kitchen.

Purchased unit with remote blower and short chimney for a low kitchen ceiling over island stove and is working great! Product support was great both during the purchase process and follow up questions.

Due to a lower ceiling height and while maintaining room view, I had to modify the installation process. This was due to the fact that if I used both 12” chimney sections I would be 4” lower than the recommended 30” as the “telescoping” minimum is closer to 16” if following normal installation steps.

Per instructions, I first determined ceiling bracket location and marked/cut vent hole and predrilled the 4 corner mounting bolt locations, then installed attic ceiling blocking. (Now the installation was modified).

The 4 holes were then drilled through the blocking and bracket with 3/8″ bit. Once the “attic” was ready, I installed four 3/8″ x 4″ machine bolts in the ceiling bracket corners in the “up” position and secured in place with nuts on the ceiling side of bracket.

The holes in the ceiling “drywall” were also enlarged so the nuts would recess allowing the ceiling bracket to flush up tight. I installed a predetermined length of 8” solid vent pipe since local code (and most others) require non flexible ducting for hoods.

I then mounted the ceiling bracket to the hood with the supplied corner brackets though I did have to drill new holes in the brackets for mounting to the hood (as there is an upper and lower bracket).

The ceiling bracket lip also needed a slight grinding off of approximately 1/4” or so to match overall chimney length (11 3’4”) from hood to top of ceiling bracket. One short chimney was now installed down over the ceiling bracket with the top matching overall height to flush out to the ceiling.

Two friends easily lifted the hood assembly guiding the vent pipe and 3/8” bolts through the ceiling holes which I (in the attic) tightened up the nuts with washers with an impact tool. The kitchen side was now complete! Installing the remote blower onto the preinstalled vent pipe and through the roof was easily completed.

I would feel very comfortable purchasing and installing this system again! And now my gal doesn’t complain of cooking smells in the back of the house!!.

To begin with the installation instructions were just flat out wrong. I wanted a ductless hood with the “designer sconce on top” The designer version mounts differently than the non-designer, but my parts did not match the instructions.

Lights didn’t work at all & I had to get regulator replaced. Despite my thorough research that the vent would fit in my space it failed to work properly despite being installed according the the company specs.

The ductless chimney did not circulate the air out of the chimney and it was trapped. The customer service department argued with me for weeks never admitting their poor design, but in fact suggesting I should go to a metal worker to allow venting, or blaming my slanted ceiling (but I have a FLAT ceiling!), oar suggesting I sue my installer (for their design flaw???).

I eventually had to only install one part of the 2 part telescoping chimney and have a gap between the ceiling and the chimney. I am living with this investment but after this installation nightmare I found it is very loud and the switches are difficult to reach.

Beware, this is a very sketchy company.

I bought the full Zline package from here (Home Outlet Direct). I will review the other items separately (same review) to help others (and Zline). First, Home Outlet DIrect was great. Good price. Good service.

They seem legit and honest. Zline appliances are “good” but could be better with attention to simple detail. I own a pretty big company and it’s the simple things that count and Zline could easily transition to being a true high end appliance name if they just paid attention.

First – here is the good stuff. 1. Great price compared to competition overall 2. Amazing look (great designers. bravo) 3. Nice full package deals (I assume these specials come from Zline directly) 4.

Super friendly people on the phone there where you call them 5. For us, everything works properly “as advertised” with no manufacturing defects seen yet (1 month in). Now the bad – and most of these are EASY to fix.

1. Instructions / manuals are embarrassingly bad. Tiny images with poor illustrations make them worse. Come on – get a REAL graphic designer and editor and make your manuals and instructions the best in the business.

It’s an easy fix. 2. Do you ever USE your own product? When I am setting the dishwasher just put an LED next to the start button so I know if it is ready to go or not. Yes – it beeps when pressed. but is the beep to tell me it’s now SET or OFF?? I don’t know!! Also, who designed the tines in the dishwasher or shelf heights (which are non-height adjustable).

For $900 it’s a poor miss. Again on the dishwasher, the bottom kick plate only covers HALF of the mechanical stuff on the bottom so you see pipes and screws from across the room. Why? FIX IT. It costs 20 cents of extra plastic.

Lastly on the dishwasher, there are way too many parts the owner has to put together to make it functional. Go and buy another major brand dishwasher and there are 75% less parts to mess with. ANOTHER EASY FIX.

3. Now the oven. Why is there no temperature monitor? I have NO idea the temp of the oven which seems like a pretty basic need (after all – my car came with a gas gauge!!) Yes, there is a blue light that goes off when it reaches the intended temp on the dial.

but the light goes from blue (pre-heating indicator) to off (temp reached). So, when you look at the oven – NO LIGHTS MEAN IT”S REACHED TEMPERATURE. Guys – make the light turn – say – GREEN when the temp is reached so I can look across the kitchen, see the green light on, and know it’s ready.

AND, if nothing else, add a cheap temperature gauge so I know the ACTUAL oven temp right now. Basic stuff people!!! 4. Again on the oven – why does the hot air vent blow right at my groin when cooking with the oven on? Direct the venting hot air to the floor, the bottom or the back.

I know you need to dissipate the heat. but don’t set my pants on fire when I’m cooking. 5. More oven: Have the symbol for the knobs on TOP of the knobs so you can see it. Right now I need to bend down to see which knob controls which burner / oven.

It’s a PAIN. 6. Now the microwave (drawer). The open / close are way too close to each other. Either make this button TOGGLE or move them apart. Also, move these buttons AWAY from the SETUP button. I fat finger the SETUP button all the time when cooking.

Lastly, why do I need to press “time cook” and then the numbers? Let me press “4” then “start” to do 4 minutes rather than the “start” button 8 seperate times to keep adding 30 seconds of time until I get to 8 minutes.

7. More microwave: cleaning the inside (the top) on the microwave is next to impossible as the drawer is in the way. So, design it so I can pop off the drawer so we can properly clean inside (or do something that makes access to the inside easier for cleaning).

7. On the range hood: Why can’t I just press “1, 2, 3, or 4” to start the fan speeds and then again to turn the fan off. I have to press a “clock” button, then the number to turn the fan on. and then the clock TWICE to turn the fan off.

Asinine. Who thought of this? Look, maybe I am being a little picky. The appliances function well and look great – but I run an American software company and I know that the UI (user interface) and UX (user experience) are EVERYTHING on how a human interacts with a machine (or software).

The good news is the fix is pretty much FREE and the good decisions made last forever. Hopefully Zline – an AMERICAN COMPANY, TOO (like mine) – will read this and listen to my gripes because they can make an otherwise GOOD product pretty much PERFECT.

I hope they listen and take these comments in the right way. Tim.

No nicks, no dings, no imperfections! Really clean install and works great! Had to shim the underside of my cabinets to give the hood something to mount on but expected that prior to installation. Looks good and moves plenty of air.

As for the loudness of it, all of these hoods make some kind of noise but not too much. For the price point you can’t beat it. Clean install! My only complaint is that the black cover that goes over the vent (only used if you are venting outside and not recirculating) does not snap in.

Blows off when I cut it on. I suspect that I will have to use double sided tape or something to get it to hold and stay in place. Overall it is a great product at a good price!.

So I’ll start with my upset, the box was damaged which lead to the range hood being damaged! I normally have time to take stuff like this back to Kohls for returns but I did not. So I looked tattle hood and the facia, buttons and all external parts were not damged.

It was the fan housing and filter. So I straighted the bent parts out and installed it easy peasy. The fan works great, looks great and with a good LED bulb it’s very bright. I would buy it again, but not from Home Essentials Direct.

I know I’m saving some money with prime but I don’t want te headache he of having to do returns when th3 box is damaged.

I bought this to replace a 20 year old 42 inch hood fan that was on it’s last leg. This came with both a round connector and rectangular ( with damper built in ). The homes electric wire was easily run in from the top/rear of the hood fan and I only had to kill the power for 1 min to hook it up.

I am however very displeased with the plastic cover you have to install if not using the recirculation option. The plastic piece barely stays in on its own and I had to secure it with double sided tape so that the exhaust would not escape back into the kitchen.

The dual fan speed is perfect and the light works great as well.

We purchased the PLJW 101, the predecessor to this model, 3 1/2 years ago to sit over our Capital Range, the model with the infraQ indoor bbq grill. The rangehood is brushed stainless and a perfect complement to the range, with great controls and a great look.

Quiet and extremely powerful. We also use the warming lights regularly, which is one of the reasons we bought it initially–few competitors’ produccts have warming light sockets. We have run the range hood almost every day.

But, it stopped working last night. Customer service at Proline answered immediately the next morning, diagnosed problem and sent me a new touchpad at no cost. Their customer service is as good as their product! I wouldn’t hesitate buying their product again, or recommending it!.

Product was well packaged & delivered promptly. The hood can exhaust top or back. The conversion is simple. The unit is very high capacity and very quiet. We live in a super sealed & highly energy efficient home.

This hood enables us to live without cooking odors building up.

Very nice range hood, with a high end look. The description makes it sound like you will be getting 2000 cfm capacity, however the blower is single and only rated at 1000 cfm. I would not have purchased this particular unit had I know it was only 1000 cfm.

Sku 432. 30 barcode 814118022973 ZLINE 30 in under cabinet range hood stainless steal. Being a life long cook and generally having decent kitchen equipment. I have never had a proper vent hood that would vent out of the house.

Recently I moved to an older condominium complex that is experiencing a revival of sorts. Many of the units are undergoing renovations as the age of the residents drops to mid 40’s. I saw the kitchen in my unit and though it’s eh ok I guess.

It was not my style though. Once moved in we started our kitchen renovation where I could finally get a proper range hood. New cabinets, flooring, walls removed and finally a proper ranger hood a new 30in stainless ZLINE range hood.

All that work is part of phase one. In a year or so phase two will be replacing appliances. I have my eye on a few more ZLINE products for that part of the renovation and upgrade.

The Good , Very nice looking after touchup (see the bad) Crown Molding really finished the look off. Packaged very well on a pallet. The Bad , Doesn’t seem to exhaust any better than my cheap microwave over cabinet model, and yes I have 8″ duct straight up through the roof.

The duct that comes with the hood to connect to the ceiling duct is very thin cellophane like material , thinner than Reynolds wrap. Very loud for the amount of air it moves. , I wouldn’t mind if it really cleared the fumes Pop rivets on back were rusted , welding heat marks on the Crown Molding, and a few places had scratch marks from manufacturing in multiple places on hood and molding.

They cleaned up somewhat. ,not perfect In this price range I expected a much higher quality product ,but the chance we take not seeing before buying.

I bought this, ordered and paid for the 48” hood on this website and received a 30” hood. I am still trying to get this resolved. The Range Hood people are very slow to respond and the information on the website for this hood is still inaccurate.

They take over a week to respond to each email and have informed me this hood doesn’t even come in 48”. The website shouldn’t have that you can purchase a 36” or 48” hood and charge you extra when you check those if they don’t sell it in those lengths.

We needed a specific size that was not available in local stores. Price was excellent and really does clear exhaust while cooking. Could be a little less noisy, but all in all, we are pleased.

Bought unit as a replacement. Fit just as well as the old one. Uses same screw holes as old unit making it easy to install. Excellent price.

This is a great product which I had installed by the professional guys working on my Kitchen, In the box it looked great ,It was only once installed that I noticed It had a small ding in it which could only have come from the factory as the guys installing it had only electrical tape and screwdrivers, Oh well , It still looks nice but I cant help looking at the ding.

We ordered a ZLINE Island Range Hood (GL2i-42) in October, when it was on deep discount from the Range Hood Store. We had no place to put it, unpacked, at the time, so we stored it in our garage. Unfortunately, the delivery company seems to have mishandled it, so when it arrived, I noticed an indentation in the main box (with the actual hood) and did open that box enough to see that there was no damage to the hood on that side.

But when, a couple weeks later, we opened the box for the extended chimney, it had been bent at one end. The box had a small indentation, but at the time, I didn’t think anything of it, as it wasn’t severe and the heavy cardboard had not been broken.

I called Zline and explained the situation and emailed photos. The rep ordered a new extended chimney, which arrived in a couple of weeks. We had multiple weather delays on our end, so it was a few more weeks before the hood got installed.

Note that, as others have said, there are a couple of places where the instructions could be clearer, as they leave out a couple of steps (which made my contractors jump to the wrong conclusions about the order of assembly, which I had to persuade them were incorrect), and also a cinch for the extendable exhaust piece.

Fortunately, my contractor had the equipment. He also added several more screws to hold the unit in place to the ceiling. That seems a prudent step, and Zline should include more. Once it was finally installed, it seems to work OK.

It is louder than expected, especially for the relative air draw, but we don’t use it every day, so we can live with the noise, which is louder than other over-range wall fans I have heard. Design-wise, no complaints.

Visitors have said that it helps define the open kitchen and they like the look.

I’ve had my hood about 3 years so far. Works great. This was the only stainless island hood available in the dimensions I needed that didn’t require outside venting, yet is powerful enough to handle wok steam and pasta pots.

Attractive with 4 speeds and terrific lighting. The recessed halogen bulbs swivel slightly in their sockets, but do throw a lot of heat — enough to crack the little glass cover on one when steam got inside.

(Replacement bulbs don’t have covers unfortunately but a small point and doesn’t affect performance. ) Love the dual set of controls on both sides of the unit — smart! The inside screen is sleek and easy to clean.

Installation also was easier than most island hoods according to the independent installer who put it in. Overall I love it. You will too.

I had the high end of Broan range hood for more than 12 years. It started to give trouble. I wanted to replace it with the same model – but decided to go with this one. This was a simple design and very less features.

Does its job, The fan is a bit noisy. On the other hand – I feel it is easier to clean. There are not too many gaps where oil can sediment as the old one. The base design seems standard so that I could use the same cut outs etc.

The fan motor is not sealed as the high ends – The fan blades are plastic. My guess it may last for less time. Don’t ask for more as you pay a very low price for it.

I bought this to go with the ZLINE hood I purchased from Best Buy. It looks great and matches with the crown moulding of the rest of the kitchen and also lessens the light that passes through the top of the hood giving it a completed look.

However, it does not come with instructions and takes a little bit of figuring out. The way it came from the factory also has some jagged edges and some part of the panel looked unfinished. They are not really evident when installed and as a result would still get it because it gives the kitchen a finished look especially if you have crown mouldings on your cabinets.

This brand probably has the most number of product styles and designs. They’re obviously serious about catering to every single household. I particularly like this range because it gives my kitchen a clean and industrial appeal.

I’d like my kitchen to look as close as a commercial kitchen as possible. Makes me want to use it more often.

My neighbor, who’s a contractor, told me I’d better get a ducted hood instead of a recirculated. He said the latter isn’t very efficient because you’ll have to clean the filters more often. Also, I can just use the HVAC to filter the air in my kitchen.

That’s why I chose this particular range hood, because it’s ducted. And it looks like an excellent quality.

I find it strange that I only see this brand on this listing site, or maybe I haven’t visited that many listing sites yet. But this brand is one heck of a stunner to be honest. I’ve just received this range hood and had it installed yesterday.

Now my kitchen is fresher and more comfortable than ever before. My kids have started hanging out in their with me when I’m cooking, which for me is a good sign.

This item was a replacement for a prior item that was dented. It was great they provided a replacement, however, it caused my projected to be extended. Packaging for hood was not adequate to prevent damage.

I think I was lucky for this one to arrive undamaged. We got it installed and it looks great. Nice lighting. We did do the non-vented option and it isn’t too loud. Great value!.

It looks good! It lights our stove area with bright even light, and the fan is so quiet. What a nice improvement over our previous hood vent!

Great unit. Quiet and easy to install. Oh yes, looks good also.

We purchased this unit last spring, toward the end of April. Installed in May. Things performed fine and we were happy initially until the cold winter came. Full disclosure: We don’t use it every day.

Only 2-3 time a week when I cook food with lots of smoke (bacon, stir fry, deep fry, etc). Over the course of the winter which was only been 3 months so far, we’ve encountered handful times of water condensing inside the chimney and pour back down to my stove.

My chimney goes straight up to the roof, and attached to a roof vent which has no leak. Upon investigation, it was the damper that’s right above the motor that gets stuck open and letting the warm moist air in the house to the cold attic and condense into water (we have whole house humidifier for the dry Missouri winter).

It was quite frustrating. Also the screws inside the baffle filter was all rusted, by only washing 2-3 time a month in the dishwasher. The customer service is hit and miss. One of the ladies demanded a “purchase order number”, which was nowhere to be found in my email.

She then told me with unpleasant tone that she was able to find it with my name but I should keep it in my record. I meant, it wasn’t my fault they needed a number that’s different from what I got from ordering at bed bath and beyond.

We were able to get replacement parts from them but it’s just so much hassle and it’s only within year 1. I am not too hopeful this will last, but only time can tell. I am surprised to see so much good reviews after my experience, just wanted to let people know what they could encounter with this piece.

Think twice before buying.

This is so cool! It looks so sophisticated I thought it’s gonna cost at least a thousand bucks. But apparently, it’s a lot cheaper and that got me thrilled. So I bought it, and after figuring out how to install it, I did it myself.

They provided detailed instructions that even someone who never held a hammer in their hand can pull it off.

Although it will be some time before we can install our hood, we opened the box to check it over and found it was packed like fine china. Proline is an excellent company and I expect that this hood will look and function amazingly when our house is finished.

I am very happy with this Professional Range Hood !! Very quiet!! It works perfect !! Great quality !!! No more smells in my house !!

I bought this model after comparing several similar products. The main things that swayed me were the design, price, and fast shipping. The unit arrived damage free, but did have two fasteners that came loose and were floating around inside the unit.

I found the pieces (nuts and bolts) and reassembled. Installation time start to finish (including assembly and porting through the roof) took about three hours – i installed this in a finished kitchen.

To be fair, I could not follow the installation procedures in the manual as I only used one of the two chimney pieces. If I used the provided steps, it could have been done in much less time. Suggestion to the manufacturer – include a full size paper template of the mounting bracket that gets fastened to the ceiling.

This template could be taped to the ceiling and make it easier to square the unit to whatever reference points needed, and locate/pre-drill the mounting holes. I gave this four stars for two main reasons: 1.

The baffles do not lay flat when installed – they are off side to side which make them look like a W. They are not off by much though. I tried putting them in different spots, but it didn’t help. 2. The exhaust tube is plastic and the mounting bracket through which it passes is metal with sharp edges.

The tube is off-centered, so it rubs against the sharp edge and could wear through. I put some duct tape around the edge to help.

Had the glass canopy installed by a carpenter doing my kitchen remodel. Can’t find a trim for the ceiling opening. Looks very poor. Had the installation verified by a Frigidaire service center. When the fan is turned on in any setting, fan vibrates and rattles.

In any fan setting it is so loud can’t hear anything while cooking. Oh it looks nice but I would not recommend it.

Installed in new construction. First wanted downdraft but that didn’t out. Was a little concerned about overall appearance but as it turns out it adds interest and some visual definition to the otherwise completely open kitchen, dining, living area.

We were looking for an Island hood and were drawn to the modern look of the glass canopy. Installation was easy, just make sure you realize you need to get the vent pipes. When we went to install we were missing some of the hardware, we contacted Frigidaire and received all missing parts quickly, Customer service went above and beyond.

Fan operation is very quiet on first 2 settings and not unbearable on high. The lighting is very bright and is focused on our cook top perfectly. Very happy with this Island hood vent.

This is a quality product considering the price. It is a replacement and I appreciated it accommodated both horizontal or vertical exhausting. Purchasing from Build. com was also a good experience: order, receive quickly, install.

(Ok, I did the install part) The fan is a little loud but acceptable. If you are interested in a range hood at this price point I would recommend this product and this supplier. Jim D. In Draper UT.

bought it to replace a Broan from the sixties. New one not built as heavy but I have no problem with it once mounted. The new one, the variable speed dual light setting, premium one is VERY NOISY compared to my old one ; which was a variable speed also.

The 50 year old one worked just fine but was a bronze color that didn’t look right with new white appliances. Wish I had bought a can of paint.

Recieved on marked time took 30 minutes to install. Very happy with this purchase. Highly recommend for anyone.

I recently purchased and installed the ZLINE 696-36 Wall Range Hood. The first unit that arrived did have an issue in which one of the rear inside “hip” corners of the unit was loose and out of position.

A phone call and several photos and ZLINE customer Service shipped a new unit, and shipping bill for the original unit which was picked up and returned. The installation was straightforward (I do have a few comments below) and the unit looks and works well.

The first time I was sauteing something, I showed my wife that on the lowest fan speed, I watched the smokey vapors just rise up into the hood and disappear! I have not really tested the limits, but I expect that it will exhaust everything, including a total disaster on the cook top.

The unit looks stunning. It is an impressive statement of clean form and function in our kitchen. Aside from working well, the two LED lights in the unit (which can be “aimed”) are great, and they have a lower-level setting that can be used as a night-light of sorts.

I was initially concerned that the control buttons, which are located inside the hood (much to my wife’s delight) are hidden and hard to read from standing in front of the unit. However, it’s not really hard to remember their position and what they actually do.

I am more than a handyman DIY’er with respect to experience. That said, attaching the top chimney piece was difficult. My ceiling was not totally flat around the exhaust duct (the builders were not worried because the area was covered originally with a soffit).

The stainless steel chimney piece was dead-flat and square. I had to mess with the bracket that holds the top piece so that I could get the two holes in the bracket to line up with the two holes in the top piece of the unit chimney.

This was compounded by the fact that I had to align two VERY small screws to go through the chimney into the bracket. I was on top of a ladder, leaning over the unit trying to get a couple of screws into position, with cabinets on either side limiting my view and reach.

I might suggest a slot, instead of a hole for the screws, to make that step a lot easier. I would also have liked to know (in the instructions) “When are you supposed to remove the protective film from the unit?”, before installation or after.

I waited until after the unit was up, which did not make a lot of sense after having done that. To summarize, the hood is stunningly beautiful, works like a champ, and I am just delighted with it. It took me a bit longer to install than I planned, but i could not be happier with ZLINE and their product.

My hood arrived on schedule. The freight company off loaded a large box from the delivery vehicle and placed the box in the garage. I was ready to install, but I had to open the box for inspection. Surprise!!! I must say, I have never seen such an incredible packaging job.

It must cost them a fortune! I honestly believe the box could have fallen from the truck at 60mph and the hood would have survived. Don’t try it. just take my word for it. What a beauty! Installation was incredibly simple.

With a touch of a button, it came to life and I couldn’t believe how quiet it was even at highest setting (1200cfm). Great product! We are now considering replacing our Fisher & Paykel hood in the kitchen even though it is working.

Clear and precise product information on the wedsite. Ordering and shipping was easy. Supply chain issues prevented completion of the original order so I had to order a different model. Thanks the great avaiiable product suite I selected a different copper hood and could not be more pleased with the hood.

I am a homeowner with sufficient skills to installl the hood. Installation was simple. The flexible exhaust tube really made the installation easy. The quality is superior and the copper finish is beautiful.

I can’t be more pleased with the entire process and the hood. I will definitely recommend Z Line to friends.

Nice quality hood at a decent price. The copper color is a bit more “flat” in real life compared to the pictures, but it still looks nice. Motor seems built for long life. The only nits are that the control buttons are somewhat awkward to reach (under the hood on the back face), and turning the fan OFF from any speed requires pressing the power button THREE times (to cycle through the “power off delay” options), which is awkward.

We recently remodeled our kitchen and due to lack of window I wanted to make sure I had a strong range hood. Despite lots of recommendations from my contractor and at stores I wanted a strong blower with solid stainless steel filters I could put in the dishwasher.

I didn’t want to buy sight unseen so we took a day trip to the Z-Line warehouse in Reno where the staff let us check out their stuff without any pressure. We decided on the 667-36. It looks great over our Thermador range.

I’m rounding up to 5 starts but it’s really 4. 6 out of 5. 0 because despite the comments it’s still a bit louder than expected, but it’s tolerable and easily compensated by looks, function and value.

One recommendation is that you buff the bottom corners of the hood since they are kind of sharp. Otherwise it’s a great piece of hardware.
