Very impressed with the response time in gaming mode at 4k 60fps no noticeable lag when playing series x or ps5. Good clarity and brightness even with ambient lighting. At night or darkend room very good blacks on a grey screen.

earc return Chanel to sound bar works well. fan noise audable when on ceiling above head but quickly melds into background with sound playing. Easy setup and supplied media stick works well but will probably swap it out for my fire stick, as no Netflix.

Very happy with purchase and service.

Highly recommend this Projector for usage in living room with short throw. Ensure that the light from the living room windows doesn’t fall in the line of projection. The inbuilt android Benq TV (though manually needed to be plugged in after purchase), helps with the other two HDMI slots used for your laptops or any.

4K quality is really good.

Super happy with this projector. I haven’t had anything comparable, but as a PC gamer I have no complaints. The throw distance is perfect for what I need it for (100″ screen from around ~2m) and the response time is unrivalled.

Video streaming works really well on the included Android TV stick. Some of the apps I usually use such as BBC iPlayer and Netflix aren’t supported, but the built in casting works a treat from Android and iOS devices.

This projector was awesome. A decent price and the picture was very good as well. I was excited to get it set up, and it worked well for about 16 months. However, at the 16 month mark, a bunch of dead pixels started showing up.

At the time of this writing, there are 24 dead pixels (white marks) along with a bunch of black marks across the screen. Looking this up, it seems to be a failure of the DMD chip partly due to the thermal paste (or lack thereof) on this chip so it overheats and fails.

But it does it in such a way as to last just long enough to get you through the warranty period which is unfortunate. The projector is great and I would normally recommend it but this is a pretty substantial flaw and the timing is just a little suspicious and now I own a failing projector.

It is also odd that their own website doesn’t even recognize this model when I looked up information about it. That may have changed as it was a couple months ago but still not a good look. There are others in this price point that I think likely end up being better options.

At least, they hopefully last longer than just over a year of use.

I dont mean the online meeting platform, but the actual zoom capabilities of this projector. If you are looking for optical zoom, this projector is not for you. Its max optical zoom is 1. 1x which is nothing.

There is digital zoom, but it will get to the max 1. 1x then just start zooming in on whatever is in the middle of your screen, cutting off the image that goes beyond the 1. 1x boundary. You can manually zoom your screen by physical placement of the projector however.

The 4000 lumens doesnt feel any different in a lit room compared to my old Epson Cinema. However, I use this for family movie night anyway so I wont hold it against it. Lastly, the optical out (Audio) seems to be hit or miss.

Again, not sure if it is truly the system or the brand new cable, but I wont hold that against the system as well. All in all, it is an alright projector. My PS5 does look crisp on it in 4k, so there is some silverlining to an otherwise disappointing projector.

After only 3 months I get a warning saying, FAN LOCKED, call a service center for repair. The projector then shuts down. It was a nice projector until now but unbelievable to have it fail after such a short amount of time.

Even with the warranty repair which will undoubtedly come, that’s only piece of mind for 1 year. $1,500 after tax is a lot to pay for a plastic brick. This is the second Optoma projector I have had with a failed fan which renders it useless without a replacement fan.

I tried and failed to find a proper replacement fan on eBay. The fan spun just fine but the projector software didn’t recognize it as actually being installed. As a result, despite the fan spinning just fine the projector still claimed a fan failure and would shut itself down.

I’m over Optoma at this point. My customer service request for this new problem got an auto reply saying they, “Endeavor to get back to me within 2 to 3 days. ” What a lofty customer service goal they have set for themselves.

I guess I shouldn’t be too surprised though. They never did bother to even respond to the request for a proper fan replacement I made months ago.

Not impressive at all – I tried this various two types of streaming devices (Apple TV and Roku ultra 4K ) and both Wi-Fi and wired connections. Also tried with 120” and 135” screens. Nothing impressed me.

video quality was very bad. It was okay with closed shots but very bad with others. I really surprised about this poor quality from this projector. I’m disappointed with the huge restocking fee charged when I returned this bad product.

I owned the 5050UB for 2 weeks before trading it in at Best Buy for the 6050UB. Was it worth it? Depends on how much value you put into the extras. Both projectors are nearly identical. The only differences are as follows: * 5050UB has a white housing, while the 6050UB has a black housing.

* 6050UB comes with a projector mount, extra bulb, longer warranty, and dust cover for the rear ports. The 5050UB does not have those extras, and the warranty is not as long. * 6050UB has a claimed improvement in contrast over the 5050UB (1,200,000:1 vs 1,000,000:1).

The internals are the same, but the lens on the 6050 may be slightly better to allow for this difference in contrast. The projector is fairly easy to setup, and is very quiet. In Eco mode I cannot hear it unless the room is dead silent, even then it’s hardly noticeable.

In Medium mode, it’s slightly louder but you will most likely not be able to hear it with any sound playing from your TV/Sound System. On High mode the fan noise will be noticeable during quiet scenes in a movie and may be distracting to some.

Picture quality and contrast are very good, I’ve been highly impressed with many of the 4K disks I’ve watched. I can’t say how this unit compares to a native 4k projector, but the image is very sharp & bright and there is a very notable difference between watching 1080p content and 4k content.

You have control over how much ‘up-scaling’ the projector applies to the image, and control of tone mapping for HDR sources. The projector automatically detects HDR, and will implement your chosen tone mapping settings to the image.

When no HDR is detected, tone mapping is turned off. No image smoothing or interpolation is allowed when you are in 4K / Enhancement mode. At the time of this review it can only be turned on when you are viewing a 1080p source and have disabled 4k Enhancement.

Gaming has been very good on this device, allowing for 4K and HDR if the console and game support it. I have not noticed any input lag, and reviews I’ve seen on the device show it’s very gamer friendly in this regard.

The firmware is upgradable via a USB stick. There is a lot of information on this projector, and the 5050UB on AVS Forums, so I suggest you do more research before making a purchase. If you don’t need all the extras, the 5050UB can be picked up for significantly less and provides a nearly, if not identical picture since they have the same internals.

If you do want the extra bulb, mount, and other accessories, or you want your projector in black, the 6050UB is a solid choice. Another good alternative is the BenQ HT5550 if cost is a factor.

Built a home theater using this projector. I’m one that will read multiple reviews and go see everything I can before purchasing. I usually don’t buy the most expensive and I don’t buy the cheapest. I try to find something that will fit what I need for the right price.

If it is the most expensive then so be it but it usually isn’t. This projector is great. We put up a 150” screen and the picture is sharp, colors are good and it did everything we needed. My son plays his PS4 on it and it projects that just fine as well.

For the price this is everything you would need.

After a lot of comparisons in the price point, I finally concluded on Viewsonic PX703HD for watching movies at home and in our backyard. Product looks great and remote is very versatile. I enjoyed the picture coming out of it.

May be defect with my product. – Viewsonic splash screen appears quite often even changing movies inside a the same app like netflix. – No updates yet, but I think with no wifi a firmware update will not be easy to administer.

Yeah it is a nice projector for your first one. The ultra low input is only if you don’t mind having all your other settings on the picture reset and they are unavail to change unless you’re you don’t want the ultra low.

Mine came with a bulb lense that looked used and not to mention no matter what I try after 5 hours. I cannot get the top left corner to be straight. The Xbox series x doesn’t even identify this as a 4k projector.

YOU are a disappointment ViewSonic. And to think I defended and bragged about this product before getting it. You people at ViewSonic need to do alot better. Even when a cell phone was plugged in for the c type usb to do videos, big surprise (sarcasm) the projector didnt find a signal.

With a PS4 at 60hz the games are laggy as well and this is with gigabyte internet from Spectrum. It is ok for movies.

I bought this projector to replace a 1080p Viewsonic projector that I own. Will be using it in the Hometheater room – dark and no light. This projector works really well in that space. I could test 4K videos using the Chromecast with Google TV and the video looks great.

No stuttering or troubles displaying 4K. The colours are reproduced well and I’d say black levels are really good. I’ve tested HDR with the PS4 HDR capability and it looks great. I am waiting to use this with a PS5 – alas I have still not been able to get my hands on one.

A solid projector so far, but if you can find one you might want to consider upgrading to something like the x3000i with a larger p3 color space from Benq instead. Long story short, very happy with our tk700 so far, it’s got amazing response time for gaming but ours is mainly used for streaming content like Netflix, Disney+, etc.

With an Apple TV 4k. To that end, the flaw the tk700 has is color and black levels, but after a day of experiments I have managed to dial in a very watchable image that works great for our needs. The TK 700 is only rated 98% rec709, meaning in the end you won’t be able to get much of the extended color space used in some more modern content, but it’s far from a deal breaker.

It can do enough of it to render a really nice image with some minor saturation issues – black levels are another negative, but again, with tweaks we still got a great image and tested it with pretty dark films/scenes like the new Batman flick.

Word of advise though, stay away from HDR unless the content was designed with HDR in mind – like a game. Otherwise we’ve found that forcing the AppleTV into SDR with 4:4:4 color is the best option, and from there we’ve had the best results with the living RM setting on the 700 plus adjustments.

It’s a good projector for the money, and the thing that it was designed to do – i. e. gaming, it excells at.

Only a week in but the upgrade from an optoma HD26 was truly worth it. The throw ratio is similar so installation was a doddle. The quality of image is magnificent, can run in eco and be plenty bright and very quiet.

Hooked up to PS5 it is quite something 4K at 60hz. Enough about the product. If you check YouTube for reviews they will have you covered. The big thing is the service in store and the 6 year guarantee! Even if you paid more than else where (which you won’t, pricematch) it’s still worth purchasing from Richer.

It’s nice to be able to speak to a sales person who understands what they are selling and clearly have a passion for it. I started shopping in Richer years back at Tottenham Court Road. They have gone from strength to strength.

Good product although the sound system is garbage. I used a splitter to get actual 5. 1 sound rather than use what was coming off the projector itself. Image is good otherwise as well as the interface.

I am using in a room that is projecting 20ft away and the image is about 12′ wide. The image needed a little tweaking but probably because i was testing on a poorly painted surface. I would recommend this to anyone but again, it will need a sound splitter or you will be very unhappy with that.

About 50$ for that.

The Optima UHD60 projector I purchased is amazing and very easy to set up. Great 4K picture for my theater room setup. The controls were very easy to use.

I am happy with this projector (it is my first ever). However, when you do all the calculations for throw distance and screen size, make sure you take into account that this projector has NO keystone adjustment.

At ~13′, it can only project the image about 8″ below the projector using image shift. So, if you have a high (or even normal) ceiling, it may not project the image low enough on your wall for your taste, or you may wind up having to mount it so that it hangs down into the room a bit.

It seems that this is an image quality tradeoff that Optoma made (apparently keystone adjustment results in a reduction in image quality). It is working for me, but I can imagine that it would be a major drawback for some folks.

This is a wonderful piece of hardware. I can’t stress how awesome it is to have a projector that’s easy to move around, setup, and contains everything you need in one. The magic remote with its pointer similar to a wiimote is a massive improvement over any other TV remote I’ve used.

Literally all you need to do is plug it in. Except LG has stopped updating the software. Its stuck on WebOS 3 which according to LG was released in 2016-17 the latest software updates was in early 2019.

It lacks basic apps like HBO, Disney+, and Amazon PRIME. To get those apps you need to purchase another device loose the ability to use the magic remote’s pointer abilities and deal with extra cords, ruining a significant portion of what this projector so awesome.

Its unconscionable that LG is still selling this projector 4 generations of WebOS behind without having updated the software in over 2. 5 years. I will think twice before ever buying any LG product that requires software again.

This projector is a banger – ok it could be a little brighter – but the picture is absolutely pin sharp and there are enough settings to make it work fantastically in dark to semi-lit environments. Totally portable and versatile – I was looking for a projector I didn’t have to mount on the ceiling or set up a stand every time I used it and this works perfectly for me.

I get a 106” picture from about 3. 7 metres and although it ends up being very close to my head, it’s super quiet in eco mode. The onboard speakers are average but it has Bluetooth stereo out for when you need it and it works perfectly with my AV system – no sync issues – 5 mins set up and go.

The only issue I have found is that low latency ‘game mode’ does work with Bluetooth which is annoying as I can see the potential for setting up gaming away from my living room more often than watching films.

that said – I’m going to be trying outdoor cinema nights this summer. It’s basically a high 4. 5 due to the smallest of issues but the sharpness and connectivity make happy to round it up! I feel like it’s on the pricey side – but I reckon that the laser’s life span will eventually pay for its self and this product is so unique – there’s nothing else I have found that is quite like it.

I’ve looked at and drooled over this projector for years. Even though it came out a few years ago, the 4k picture quality is still top notch. Haven’t even needed to buy a screen yet. I wish it were a bit easier to keep my bluetooth headphones connected without the on screen prompt to reconnect popping up every time I leave the room and come back, but it’s not a dealbreaker since I imagine most folks would be watching with speakers/surround sound anyhow so everyone can listen.

I like that you can use different remotes to control the menus with whatever universal remote software/tech the projector uses. Makes it easy to switch between using a cable box to just using the projector.

My biggest gripe would be keeping the projector connected to the cable top box, as I find myself restarting the box and troubleshooting Wifi all too often, but I suspect this has more to do with Comcast equipment issues rather than the projector itself.

All in all, I’m definitely happy with my purchase.

Great value projector, features native support for 4k @ 60hz inputs (will NOT play 4k videos on its own, only displays 4k from the HDMI inputs. which is fine for 90% use cases just something to be aware of).

The use of an LED lamp as opposed to a more conventional projection lamp means the unit won’t get that hot and you’ll get a bright, properly white balanced image on pretty much any surface, whether it was intended to be used as a screen or not; I’ve used interior walls, bedsheets, the side of the house, and yes, purpose made projection screens too 😉 There’s also the fact that the projector and screen (not included) pack up small enough to easily fit in a backpack, so I could totally hop on a public bus and take my 4k home theatre to my buddy’s house if I wanted to.

Aaxa 4K1 UHD projector projects excellent image quality. Compact projector in class 4K UHD projectors. To view the video content in the curtain room ECO mode is enough economical. For daily viewing of video content is enough Standart mode.

In ECO mode, the cooling fans are almost inaudible. Only in Boost mode – the fan noise is quite strong. Great projector for your class!.

Highly compact 4K projector with many different use cases. Works great for both business presentations and quick home theater projector for movie nights. The projection quality is amazing and brightness is good enough for most applications.

The projector does tend to get hot but confirmed it was normal and haven’t had any issues after 2 weeks of use.

The Optoma P2 has a native resolution of 1920 x 1080. WHAT??!?!?!?!? Open Youtube and select a 4K video. As you are watching the video, open the “Stats for Nerds” menu item. You will see the “Viewport / Frames” list your viewing resolution at “1920 x 1080*2”.

But my Optoma should have a resolution of 3,840X2160. I went down the rabbit hole; both Best Buy and Optoma specs list the max viewing resolution at 3840X2160. However looking at several projector-centric websites (projector central and projectorjunkies) the Optoma achieves its “4K” image via the projector taking a 1080p image and applying an incredibly fast pixel-shifting technology to render a 4K image.

At projectorjunkies, look at the article titled “4K DLP projectors | Is it real 4K? (XPR technology explanation)”; the article concisely explains how 1080p images are transformed into “4K”. The projectorjunkies review of the Optoma P2 also confirms the use of fast-pixel shifting technology to “transform” the native 1080p image of the Optoma P2 into “4K”.

So “Stat for Nerds” on Youtube is correct; Optoma P2 projects a 1080p image and transforms/doubles the image resolution to 4K. So is the Optoma P2 a “True 4K” projector? In my opinion, NO. This is a native 1080p projector.

The Optoma P2 uses an optical engine that transforms 1080p images into 4K. The P2 achieves 4K colors, but I think it does not achieve 4K pixel density or detail. In other words, the P2’s 4K picture is not 100% more detailed or clearer than a baseline 1080p image.

My unscientific observations tell me that the P2 in 4K mode looks 10-40% better than 1080p : ( Can you purchase a native 4K projector between $1500-$3500? No. You will likely pay closer to 5 figures if you want a native 4k projector.

This is 4K marketing on the part of Best Buy and Optoma, which I despise. BUT the Optoma P2 has some good features. The Ultra Short Throw allows me to place the projector on my TV stand with the light source only 22 inches from my wall.

When I watch 1080p movies from Amazon, Netflix, and Disney, the image is as good as any 85″ television. I get marginally better performance if the streaming movie is UHD, 4K; about a 20-30% improvement in picture compared to 1080p.

I also get marginally better performance from 4k videos on Youtube and Youtube TV (with 4K subscription); about a 10% improvement in picture quality, unscientifically speaking. Games on the Nintendo Switch look good.

The projector is also dead-quiet when compared to a conventional lamp-source projector. I use a 100″ screen, and the projector can go up to 120″. In my opinion a very large screen will always beat an 85″ television when it comes to creating an immersive experience.

However, you will probably spend at least 4 hours adjusting your Optoma P2 image on your big screen. You can also max out the performance of this projector when you view a UHD 4k movie with a Blue-ray player.

Compared to lower-priced native 1080p projectors, Is marginally better visual performance worth spending $1000 more on a projector? Meh…. this is a very good 1080p projector. Your neighbors and friends will be impressed by the size, image and 4K color.

Your tech-savvy friends may question your choices in life when they find out how much you spent on the P2 considering that the P2 barely touches 4K pixel definition (uhhhh it’s 1080p pixel definition).

You can save at least $800 purchasing a lamp-source, native 1080p projector with a larger set-up foot print. But if you are looking for a physically impressive projector (ultra short throw; laser quiet, more colors) and marginally better pixel production, the Optoma P2 may be a good choice for you.

If you don’t have a background in audio visual equipment (which is 98% of all consumers) this projector is not for you. You need a higher level of tech savvy (I did not do enough research prior to purchasing this projector) and patience ( I spent 200+ hours tuning to maximize the performance of this machine and prior to writing this review).

Picture quality is good, the alignment of the picture is very hard to make and as described it does not project 120 inches in 34cm from the wall, i had to set it up at 60cm and also the picture is not straight so had to do a lot of keystone correction.

Maybe the product is faulty? I will get it checked with PBTech soon. Secondly, the android it comes with is old, netflix does not support it and also the whole interface is slow to use. It would really help if this was upgraded.

Although a reviewer on pbtech mentioned there was an update to make it better, I did not get anything. I will ask pbtech about this soon. Finally, I believe they are giving a free 4k Xiaomi android box with it, perhaps the reason for it is because the android system it comes with is not so usable or friendly? All in all, a good value product and currently on special which is a very good price for it.

However, if your setup is expensive (like mine with UST compatible screen etc) then I would go for higher quality Projector than this.

I bought this projector about 10 days ago. Got the screen in the same day when the projector was dilevered. All the best for the richersound staff- amaizing people – a pleasure for me to deal with them!!!.

The projector is amaizing. Took me a wile to find the position and to adjust the picture on the screen till I figure out what the black 2 pices of carton are – shows the distance from the screen. As soon as I moved the projector to the right distance the image rectangle fit in the screen frame.

I had to use my phone to finalize the adjustmen of the image to fill the screen frame – Optoma SmarFit – very easy and intuitive tool. After I have finished adjusting the screen I have connected my Marantz to the Optoma projector I was impresed by the quality of the image.

“The black is black” – said my son. Can talk a week about the projector – the 4K is amaizing, connectivity 3 HDMI and 2 USB ports more then enough, its sound it’s filling the room. and I stop here. Regarding screen I recommand to buy ALR screen with side stripees tensions to keep the screen surface tight.

I received this product in June. When I first turned on 4K content, I noticed this projector was much louder than my previous, which was a Benq w1070. After a few days, it began to bother me and I researched the issue.

It seems a common flaw in this projector. I read reviews of customers sending the projector back and getting one without the buzz. I opted to send mine to Optoma to repair the buzz. I finally got the “repaired” projector back from Optoma this week, mid July.

I tested it out and now it’s making more noise than it did in the first place, no exaggeration. Now, I’m unsure what to do. I’m out of the return window at Buydig and sending it to Optoma for repairs only made the problem worse.

The projector looks great (especially at 4K) but sounds like a old refrigerator now, though it wasn’t as dramatic initially. I would advise anyone considering this projector to proceed with caution. It’s probably going to be noisy and the path to resolving the issue, if there is one, will likely be lengthy.

I’n not sure what Optoma can do for me at this point, but I don’t have much to lose now. I’ll update this review when a final resolution to this problem is reached, good or bad.

I have been using this over an year. the colors are really good and picture quality is amazing. After about 8 months from purchase projector gave me an error of fan lock out and shutdown but started back up once i rebooted and had worked fine since however beware that when i called Optoma for this issue as this was under warranty i was tol;d to ship this at my expense as only service center is in California which is not a good customer service to not have local repair shops contracted.

The projector also use to blank out while running in the middle and serach for signal abruptly. It started to happen a lot but once I switched to Apple TV and XBOX as pimary devices did not had this issue.

Overall good product but has tech glitches.

It would be a great entry projector if it wasn’t constantly losing signal. Only seems to be happening on 1080p devices for some reason. Not sure how to attempt to address this and will likely replace it eventually.

This projector is packed with awesome features, at least on paper, since I didn’t even want to try them out due to at least 1 huge issue. This projector (and UHD38) is the only Optoma projector EVER (afaik) to NOT support the side-by-side and top-and-bottom 3D formats.

All it supports is sequential, so the only 3D people can watch is from BluRay players, but the 99% of 3D viewers who play 3D downloads from their computer onto the projector are left with nothing. The only possible solution would be to get a media player software that can take SDS or top-and-bottom and turn it into sequential and then feed it to the projector.

But I have spent quite literally at least 20-30 hours researching this and trying every 3D media player I could find online, ranging from brand new shiny ones to sketchy Russian ones that stopped being developed in 2011, BUT TO NO AVAIL! And Optoma is almost definitely not going to release a firmware update for this, from what I heard.

TL;DR: This projector has almost everything you might want in a projector (at least on paper), but it does NOT support the most popular 3D formats, which is an absolute deal breaker for me. And if 3D doesn’t actually work, who’s to say that HDR does.

Plus I heard that the input lag is actually double what Optoma claims, and that 4K with Enhanced Gaming Mode ON does not work, but I haven’t verified this.

This is a great projector so far. It is quite light to carry and deal with, but it produces a really beautiful picture. You see all the colors just pop out at you, and crisp lines, even though the screen is huge.

We did not have any problems with setup. I am sure the more expensive projectors have better specs and all, but I have a hard time believing most people will really notice the difference, for the extra price you pay.

There are some who might want the expensive equipment, but most of us will get better value out of an affordable-but-great projector like this.

Ordered this product with a $500 discount as it stated “refurbished”. After receiving it in a poorly packaged box with missing items such as a lens cover and instructions, I set it up and the picture was stuck in an elevated projection.

I downloaded the PDF file and after 3 hours of trying to sort out the picture. I decided to send it back along with the crack on the base of the item!! Coincidentally CBC news had a report on Best Buy using 3rd party venders to send refurbished items and the multitude of issues found with most products.

Of course Best Buy played dumb on this. but here is a perfect example of NEVER buying 3rd party items from Best Buy!!!!.

Very good image quality, easy to use, and a good value. The one problem is I can only get it to work with my Directv service if it’s a 4k program. With 1080i or 720p, the pic is very pinkish. It works, however, with Roku and my dvd player.

Amazing picture quality, silent to run. Very purist unit that doesn’t have some features such as keystone correction. Overall, probably the best picture I’ve seen on a home cinema projector (that isn’t one of the Sony native 4K models at least that are triple the price).

Could not be more pleased with this projector. Picture quality is simply unbelievable at a diagonal size of 102 inches, projecting 120 inches from ceiling mount (with the V12H808001) onto a bare wall.

Highly adjustable to compensate for lighting and mounting variances. In a well-lit room with LED can lights on there’s minimal washout during the morning, evening or overcast mid-day. However, noticeable washout occurs with can lights off on clear days in the afternoon within a room of 5ft x 7ft windows covered by standard blinds.

Room darkening shades is the answer although we used for several months without. We have it mounted 4 feet in front of and 4 feet above our ears when seated in our favorite spot. Fan noise is not noticeable at this range, although if closer it may be depending on your preference.

Bear in mind you’ll need an eARC adapter (such as 4K Arcana 18Gbps by HD Fury) to split the signal from your streaming box to connect a soundbar such as the Sonos Beam Gen 2. In such as a case you will not have a visual means of volume level, although for us this has not been an issue at all.

We are so pleased with this projector as our primary means of video entertainment and will never go back to a legacy screen experience.

I purchased this to replace my decade-old, 720p Epson Cinema 400. First things first. Compared with the old projector, the brightness is astounding. I am using it on the second of the four brightness levels and can comfortably watch a movie or play a game with ambient light in the room.

If I bump to the next brightness, I can watch with the lights on in the room. Even out of the box, the picture is fantastic. The pixel shift technology is remarkable. 4K netflix streams look amazing.

Games always look good on a projector (even the old one still looked good to my eye, assuming I kept the lights off). That said, the depth and detail I can see in a game like Fallout 4 is awesome. And gaming in general looks great with great contrast across dark scenes and smooth movement for fast action.

Look, I am sure a true 4K projector is impressive, but to my eye I seriously doubt you get twice the projector for twice the price. We’re in the category of diminishing returns. For $1500 bucks, the 3800 gives me at least 90% of what I see out of projectors costing $3k.

Amazing value, in my opinion. I sweated this purchase for a long-time and I do not think I could have done better.

Purchased the Epson 3800 to replace an old 1080P Epson 8350, which has worked very well for many years. The picture quality in general for the 3800 is EXCELLENT, with extremely clean/crisp image quality and excellent color reproduction.

The fan is a little louder than I’d like, but on ECO mode it’s not overbearing (if you’ve got something with sound playing it will probably be drowned out), and if you’ve used an Epson projector the menu interface will be the same intuitive (if not vanilla) interface.

The remote has large, easy to see buttons (with a backlight!), though I’d prefer to see them omit some buttons in favor of a smaller remote; there are several buttons (keystone, for example) that are helpful, but would probably only be used during initial setup.

That said, the image quality on this is HIGHLY dependent on the placement of the projector, and not relying on the lens shift feature at all. I found on my first unit that the focus was extremely uneven, to the point that if the center was focused the top-right would be slightly off and the bottom-left would be VERY far off (I have it front-ceiling mounted).

I returned it for a second unit, and found that the performance was very similar, but that if I centered the lens-shift it was mostly gone. After re-mounting to a position that was as close to center on the screen as possible it’s much better, but my bottom-left is still quite out of focus.

Some research on audio-video forums shows this is very common on the Epson 3800, and that while you may get lucky on a, generally speaking using any lens shift introduces a BIG drop in focus performance.

The 8350 was nearly perfect when using lens shift (I was shifting it pretty far), so I can only presume that this was a cost vs quality issue that Epson chose to make for this more value-oriented projector.

If I had to chose over again I would have opted for a different model than the 3800, at least not without taking in to consideration redoing my viewing area around it’s need for 100% perfect placement.

I’m not clear on why Epson chose to add lens shift to this projector if it makes such a drastic impact on picture quality; it doesn’t do me any good to have a valuable feature that significantly degrades image quality.

All of Epson’s other business/home theater projectors have been excellent, in my experience, so while the 3800 has excellent features for the price, the real-world performance was a big let-down for me.

First off let me start by saying that I come from owning many high-end tvs. I currently own a 75 inch Q90. This however takes the movie theater experience to another level. The colors are rich and vibrant with excellent black levels.

Now it’s no OLED, but the contrast still far exceeds that of any other projector I’ve seen even at premium theaters. I’m projecting this onto a 115″ 1. 0 Gain CineGrey screen from about 12. 5 feet using a ceiling mount.

Everyone who sees the image is impressed by the excellent detail and vibrant image. Don’t let the 1500 lumens scare you away. If in a light controlled environment I still get groans from my friends regarding night-to-day transitions.

I considered getting the JVC NX5 but decided on my previous experiences with Sony plus their outstanding image processing (and much cheaper replacement bulbs) and I’m not disappointed with my choice at all.

–The next portion pertains to my experience with Best Buy obtaining this product– The only issue I experience with this product was not anything to do with the product, but with how hard it was to get it from Best buy.

I waited what ended up being over a month, drove 2 hours to be told it wasn’t actually there, switched to online order to 2 days later be told that it wasn’t available. This was a no fault of the team at my local store who did everything they could for me, but it still felt like a disappointment they told me it wasn’t available when I could find multiple stores with it in stock.

I spent many days on the phone trying to get these stores to ship it from me and fulfill my order as I know they can (prior employee of the company) without any help or effort being made. I eventually took matters into my own hands and set store pick up for one of the stores in Los Angeles and had a friend pick it up from there which was another fight because you couldn’t add someone to the online order for pickup but eventually received the product.

All this when several other competitors had it available with free two day shipping.

Received my Sony VPL-XW5000 projector on free next day delivery from Richer Sounds of Chester and out of the box settings are amazing. Upscaling of 1080p HD sources is probably second to none. 4K sources result in almost 3D like pictures popping from the screen.

Black levels are excellent and colours seem very natural even without any tweaking. Once installed the projector is very easy to set up, using the manual focus, zoom and vertical and horizontal offsets and warm up time is about 50 seconds.

The WX5000 is the entry level laser light source projector and uses the same processor that is in their flagship projector priced at an eye watering £85000. Considering this WX5000 is listed at £6000 – happy days.

Being a laser projector, the light source does not deteriorate over its anticipated lifetime of 20000 hours whereas the lamp based projector will require the bulb changing every 3 to 4000 hours. This entry level laser projector does not cater for 3D film sources as my previous Sony lamp based projector did, but other than that I have nothing negative to say about the new WX5000.

if thjis is in your budget then go for it as there is nothing to compare to it at this price point. Kudos to Richer Sounds staff for their assistance and prompt service as well as their 6 year warranty.

We had a Epson 5040UB (4K enhancement projector) for 5 years and was an amazing projector for the money. We upgraded to the Sony VPL-325ES (Native 4K projector) was blown away with the overall picture performance and HDR content recreation.

When we saw the VPL-XW5000ES show up in the online store we gave it a shot and was even more impressed. All I can say is the contrast is even deeper for more realism, HDR content is out of this world.

Sony had to make some decision to get this much performance at this price point. I think the decisions were spot on as the X1 Ultimate for Projector, laser light source, new SXRD chips, manual lens, and overall build-up quality is superb.

For this projector, make sure it’s in a dedicated room with exacting light control. I’m sure the VPL-XW6000ES must be amazing with the better lens yet the VPL-XW5000ES at $6,000 is a bargain. Enjoy!.

I’m a long-time home theater projector fan, starting with a 1/4HD, then HD, now 4k(ish) projector. Having tried DLP and been sensitive to rainbows, all my permanent projectors have been LCD and the last 2 Epsons.

The 8350 had been a workhorse through a good decade but I was starting to see some red discoloration on the right 10% of the picture so figured it was time to upgrade. Honestly I wasn’t expecting much improvement but was pleasantly surprised at how much more vivid and 3-dimensional the 4010 looks (yes I always calibrate for proper cinema viewing).

Even my non-videophile wife said “I didn’t expect to be able to see any difference but this is fantastic!”. I love the motorized focus, zoom, and lens shift: it makes it much easier to dial in a perfect fit than touching the device and waiting for the “mount bounce” to settle.

It’s also admirably quiet, hanging right over our heads yet not noticeable during normal viewing (you can hear it a bit if the scene is dead quiet and you really try hard). I have a darkened room so don’t have to run the lamp at high power so that probably helps with the noise.

I also recommend MicroCenter over other providers given that they allow returns within the 15-day window. Projectors can be finicky things and may or may not play nice with your other equipment and room, so having the ability to return without a restocking fee was why I bought it here.

I had the 3010 for many years and waited for the right time to buy a new one. I did allot of research on different projectors since I wanted something that was 4k. I was willing to pay much more than I even did for this, but even the native 4k (this one does pixel shifting) projectors were limited and had less feature for this one for thousands more.

This projector is noticeably larger than the 3010. but WOW!!! The picture is 100 times better than my old model. Colors are very vivid and the brightness seems 50% more (even thought it’s about 400 lumens more).

I have a 156 inch screen (though it projects upto 300) that it projects on and it literally look like a huge hidef Samsung tv!!! Friends that have come over and see the difference are amazed!! I would highly recommend this over any DLP projectors as the color quality is better and the true contrast ratio is better than DLP.

I was completely surprised when I found out how large this projector is. I hadn’t paid much attention to the dimensions or weight of the unit until I purchased it and notice how large the box was. This unit was recommended by a reputable source as one of the best home theater projectors on the market.

So, I made my decision based on that information and it’s cost. There was another Epson projector that was recommended as being better but it was $1000 more. I owned a Panasonic PT-L500U HDTV Projector for over 17 years and it went out on me and at the time I purchased it, it was the best on the market.

The technological advances over the years required not only a new projector but a new A/V receiver and other components. As stated in the beginning, the size of this projector was so much larger than the Panasonic projector (weight 7 lbs vs 25 lbs) that I was tempted to replace it with a smaller projector but the cost/value/capabilities weren’t there.

After setting up the projector it was easy to adjust the lens, however, I still don’t have the keystone set properly. The color and vividness of the projector was great. I would recommend purchasing a tuning DVD to get the colors and contrast optimized.

I noticed a considerable improvement in picture quality after calibrating the unit. The cost of a DVD is minimal, at around $20, relative to the benefit. The DVDs I purchased were “Digital Video Essentials” and “Disney WOW” both are great at optimizing the projector.

In fact, a calibration DVD should be provided by the Projector OEM. They also should provide printed Owners Manuals that would make the set-up much easier. I noticed my previous components all included printed Owners Manuals, the ones I purchased nowadays don’t.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this projector but make sure you have a steady mount.

I’ve had this for about a week now. I wanted try an upgrade from my HD projector (which I’m very happy with) to 4k. I don’t own a TV. I watch all TV, streaming and films via a projector. So my previous one and this one get a lot of use.

Positives: • image quality is very good • vibrant strong colours • image and colours still strong in daylight and with the light on in the evenings • quiet, but not as silent as my Epsom HD projector Negatives: • takes such a long time to warm up on start up and when shutting down, and also when adjusting between different types of input i.

e. between 4k and non 4k and also switching between devices which I run through a 4k receiver. • screen/projection size is around 1/3 smaller than my Epsom from exactly the same distance • adjust legs/screws for tilting the projector are flimsy and clumsy compared to my Epsom • it doesn’t auto adjust the picture when the projector is tilted, like the Epsom does • you can only project straight on and nor from an angle because it lacks that adjustment like my Epsom (I knew this before buying, I’m just pointing it out) • generally more fiddly to setup in comparison to my Epsom, but not exactly difficult to setup I’m not sure I’d recommend it to friends, simply because I’m comparing the user experience of it to my Epsom, which is delightfully easy to use day to day and simply easy to setup.

If that doesn’t bother you and you don’t mind making a brew while you wait for it to warm up a d turn on and you’re only interested in a cheap 4k projector with vibrant colours then this is for you. Personally, I’d probably recommend spending a tad more on a 4k projector to get a few more features.

Having owned four projectors over the past 20 years and this one being my latest upgrade. I can confirm the 4k picture is both jaw dropping and mesmerising. The projector is quiet in eco mode and bright enough for dimly lit rooms.

The sher scale and detailed image is awesome watching Apple tv4k or playing PS4 games. Richersounds offers the PX727 at an enticing price point which is a no brainier. Their service is exemplary and I appreciated the advice for replacing my ageing Onkyo av amp to the latest version.

Good projector for best price. Projecting at 150 inch screen and kids enjoy movies in big screen. Some times it plays in HD even for UHD movie (not sure why), sometime it plays in UHD, using Fire TV stick.

Probably at times its not communicating back to receiver that it supports 4K/UHD. Using Denon AVR-3700H, it has 8k output. Also using Optic Fiber 8K HDMI cable. Lacking 8k support.

Pros: – Extremely bright (Optoma claims 5,000 lumen): makes it possible to watch TV with ambiant day light and impressive HDR performance on a 130 screen. – Extremely sharp (4K 0. 66″ DLP chip): not native 3840×2160, but XPR pixel shifting gives an image as sharp as native 4K for movie watching (but not ideal as a giant 3840×2160 computer screen if you need pixel perfectness) – Contrast (Optoma claims native 2,000:1 full on/off): I didnt measure it but it looks accurate, its definitely better than an LCD screen.

But the contrast can go all the way to 300,000:1 (from Optoma’s specs) with Dynamic Black which dims the laser to allow just enough light necessary to show the current frame, making black more black.

– Colors: does not suffer from color brightness crushing, even with BrillantColors set to the max. I measured 97% sRGB, 78% of P3 with a SpyderX. – HDR: with the right setting you can go from very dark dark scenes with deep blacks and no glowing border to blindingly bright scenes with intense, yet accurate colors.

– 3D: Unlike the UHZ65, the UHZ65LV does support 3D Blu-Ray with DLP Link glasses. – Turns on at max brightness in a few seconds, no bulb to replace. – The remote control has a laser pointer just in case you have a cat.

Cons: (Im on System Firmware version C04, I hope these are going to be fixed in a future version) – Has terrible banding issues with HDR in 12bit 4:2:2. Problem solved if the signal 10bit 4:4:4, or 10bit 4:2:0.

Workaround for AppleTV: stay in 60fps 10bit 4:2:0, enable Match Dynamic Range” but do not enable “Match Frame Rate”. – All Dynamic Black modes fail to calculate the light it needs right to preserve accurate colors, typically on small bright objects in mostly dark scenes, it tends to over-dim and crush whites and colors when becoming a solid blob of saturated dim color.

Most color enhancement settings make this a lot worse. I ended up turning it off in SDR and finding HDR settings that mostly mitigate the problem. Too bad there is no dont crush bright colors option for Dynamic Black.

– 3D is a bit flaky. Has to be turned of manually every-time, sometimes it fails the first time (stuck in black screen, screen getting split or duplicated, weird flickering messing up with the motion perception part of my brain), but after a few attempts it ends up working and it looks good.

Just keep trying. My settings: SDR: Modified Cinema mode, Sharpness: 7, Gamma 2. 2, Brilliant Color: 1, Color Gamut: Presentation, Dynamic Black OFF, Power: 70%, else to 0/Minimum/Disabled HDR: Modified HDR mode, Color 10, Sharpness: 7, Gamma 2.

4, Brilliant Color: 1, Color Gamut: Presentation, Dynamic Black 2, else to 0/Minimum/Disabled Conclusion: There is nothing else on the market in that price range that can deliver and HDR image matching both the super-dark black levels and the super-bright colors/white of this projector (other projectors are too dim or too expensive) So, no regret, buying it but please Optoma, fix your bugs! I purchased this to use in a garden house which is not blacked out. The picture quality is really good in daylight. It was so simple to set up and use which is great for a non techie like me. If you want a great qualty projector give this one a go.

My 1st projector purchase was in 2016. An Epson TW6600. Did me great service over 5 years but I was badly missing 4K now that I had Sky Q. Opted for this Optoma UHZ65LV and I’m blown away with the quality upgrade.
