20 Best 4K Tv For Sports (2022 Updated)

I’ve had a number of LG OLED’s over the years my first being the E7. What I can say without doubt is that each year they continually improve and add features. The C2 being the latest iteration. First impressions the box…not very exciting but it’s clear to see that LG are paying close attention to their green credentials.

Previous models came in a heavily branded and glossy box this year its a more understated and plain brown box, much better for recycling I’m sure. Once inside I was happy to see the remote has been updated as it has remained the same for the past few years, still very good feel in the hand and the great gesture control I have gotten used to.

The supplied stand is sturdy and was easy to put together the tv will eventually be going on the wall I just haven’t decided what wall bracket to go for yet. One area where I would like to see improvement for 2023 models is better cable management, the C2 does have some basic cable management but I wouldn’t consider it very robust.

On powering up for the first time I was pleased to see LG have improved upon the initial setup, from previous experience this could be a little tedious but it’s clear to see this is something they have worked on and the tv is much better for it.

I don’t use a TV Ariel and get everything via my sky box which is connected to 1 of the 4 high speed HDMI ports, it was detected first time and the input labelled correctly. 2 of the 3 remaining inputs are taken by a PS5 and an XBOX Series X.

One of my main reasons for purchasing the TV was its gaming features and the fact that all 4 HDMI ports are full bandwidth, some competing TV’s only have 1 or 2 full bandwidth ports. My other big use case for the TV is the inbuilt apps of which there are plenty to choose from! I watch a lot of YouTube, Netflix and Amazon prime and all of the apps perform well and open quickly.

The TV’s interface has changed to a full screen layout which I must admit I preferred the older style which only took up the bottom half of the screen, however the main thing is that it performs well and is quick to respond and intuitive to use and didn’t take long to get used to.

The picture quality is great regardless using an external source or the inbuilt apps however this is something I have come to expect over the years from OLED displays. Overall I’m extremely happy with my purchase and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this model to others seeking a premium full featured TV for either content consumption or gaming.

The LG OLED65C24LA is my first foray back into home AV kit that isn’t just something slightly above the budget offering. Having just ‘made do’ for the better part of the last decade, my kids are now that bit older, so I can (just about) trust them not to smash anything – plus, they’re on the games consoles even more than I am now, so I decided an investment for all our entertainment needs was in order.

Having run the rule over the much vaunted C1 from 2021, I was intrigued by the early talk of the C2 actually managing to be an improvement on its forerunner – not so much that you’d necessarily upgrade from one to the other, but for anyone who hasn’t upgraded their screen in the last five years, this was going to be a treat for the eyes! And what a treat it is – moving from 50 to 65 inches, I knew my lounge was big enough for the screen once it was in place, but getting it there was quite the trick! Even though this display is incredibly light yet surprisingly solid, this size of panel is really just beyond the limits of manageable for one person to manoeuvre and position effectively.

The good lady wife was on-hand to assist, albeit with hushed mumbles of ‘it’s too big’ – now it’s in pride of place, the screen sits perfectly in my field of view from my favoured seat. But it’s a stunning looker wherever I sit – with patio doors to the north of the lounge and a large window to the south, I had been hoping that the talk of the C2 being able to handle reflections really well wasn’t just fluff – it’s not, whatever this filter or coating is, it’s incredible! Even with light pouring through the front blinds, it has to be a particularly static dark scene and for me to really go looking for the reflections before I notice anything off-putting.

I’ve kept my old soundbar plinth for now – it’s served me well for six years, it’s not the most full-featured but it still sounds good; that said, the pseudo-surround effects put out by the speakers on the C2 really were quite impressive and I probably will try it out more over time – just not when I’m playing back all my metal favourites that require that extra oomph in the bass department.

Fantastic remote and slick interface – the kids are already controlling by voice and pointer – apps are really snappy feeling, but I can’t help but wish I could cast direct to the C2. Enjoyed loads of UHD football and 120hz gaming – like honey wearing silk, so smooth! My telly for the next decade!.

I recently received my 65 inch LG C2 Oled and have been thoroughly enjoying using it on a daily basis with a variety of content. The delivery was was swift and without issue, the tv was securely packaged inside the box and easy to take out.

The TV is very light and the instructions are simple and straight forward enough that I was able to put it together on my own. The size of the TV was perfect for my space, and the slick design with the slim bevel makes it look even bigger in person.

The TV has got 4 high speed HDMI 2. 1 ports, one of them being an Arc/E-Arc port, making it easy to pair with a sound bar/surround sound system. Also, being HDMI 2. 1, it supports 120 Hz 4K HDR content, this ensures you get the best possible picture and performance from your devices and content.

Being an avid gamer, I spent some considerable time playing on my PS5, and the TV excels at this, it has a dedicated Game mode, that reduces the input lag of your controller and ensures you get an amazing picture in addition to silky smooth performance, there’s a lot more I can mention, but suffice to say, you wont find a better TV for gaming.

In regards to Movies and TV shows, the TV supports Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos; in addition to picture presets and Filmmaker mode. You also have the option to go in and finely tweak colours, brightness, contrast and all the other usual settings to your hearts desire as well try out the AI Picture mode, which tries to enhance the picture based on the content you’re watching; make sure to turn off the eco mode to really experience and enjoy the full brightness of the TV.

In addition to all this, there’s a bunch of other nifty features such as Universal Control, Web OS, a simple intuitive and fast performing user interface to access the TV settings as well as the Smart TV features and Apps.

Another cool feature is the Gallery mode, which displays different works of art which changes based on the time time intervals you set up. I have a Soundbar, it was easy to connect via the E-Arc port, going in to the settings and toggling on E-Arc ensures you get the best supported audio format and you can link your Soundbar to TV and use the built in sound modes to find the best match to the content your watching; Game, Cinema, and even AI Sound.

I am extremely pleased with the TV, it looks truly outstanding; gaming, watching movies and TV shows have never looked so good, I can’t recommend the TV enough, it’s the best TV I have owned!.

What an upgrade from my Samsung UN55J6300 55” 1080p TV from about 7 years ago to this 75” 4K top tier beast. By far one of the best non-OLED 4k premium TVs on the market in 2022. The initial set-up was quick and easy for a large TV with pop-out foam cushions to install the stand while the TV is standing.

Once the TV was situated in place the Slim One Connect box sits behind hidden on the back of the stand which made it a breeze to connect my devices and keep the cables hidden. Once powered on the setup was very quick and easy with no technical experience required even my 11-year-old understood the steps.

The remote is super slim, rechargeable via a solar panel on the back or type C charger. Probably one of the brightest out of the box TVs I have known to date compared with my others 2 TV’s. This is largely due to Samsung’s Quantum HDR 32x technology and Certified HDR10+ included in this panel giving the TV an ultra-bright display.

The picture clarity was perfect with some slight glow/halo but expected being a non-individually lit pixel OLED panel, but the Quantum Matrix with Mini LED technology sets apart far beyond a regular LED TV.

The color and contrast are exceptional and at the right viewing distance you almost feel you in the picture – my wife’s words! The overall look at feel of the TV is premium, ultra slim due to the one-connect box and what Samsung calls the Infinity One Design.

It really stands out as sleek compared to other comparable size displays. Navigating through Samsung’s new updated UI was smooth and snappy due to the premium hardware such as the Neural Quantum Processor and fast 120Hz/144Hz display which is available on all 4 HDMI ports too.

I am yet to test the 144Hz in gaming mode, but I have experienced this on my sons 55” 4k/120Hz Bedroom TV and so I know this will only up the experience further on a larger much faster display. The sound quality is crisp and something new to me is the TV comes with built in woofers giving those subtle mids and lows typically not heard from a TV combined with the TVs built in Dolby Atmos and 3D sound, it is like having a built-in sound bar, making the movie experience phenomenal.

I later setup my existing Dolby Atmos sound bar which the TV detected by brand effortlessly via eARC and it just blew me away. Overall, seeing this TV in action you will appreciate why its far more premium then a 75” TV at half its price, you will not look back and its worth every penny.

This 75” QN85B Samsung Neo QLED 4K Smart TV is PERFECT ! Out of the box it is super easy to assemble and setup. It took us only 5 minutes to get everything done and the TV quickly recognizes all connected devices and does the rest.

There are soo many options to enhance and improve an already AWESOME TV. The TV is soo thin and looks very good, the picture is actually Theatre quality all in this Samsung TV. I can easily navigate thru the channels and the TV options (Sound/Picture/Smart Options/Contrast/App Casting/Multi view) just to name a few.

The multi-view option is by far my favorite out of all the extras, I can watch multiple content on the TV and easily switch between the 2 and this is definitely a game changer. The design of this TV is superb, super thin, black glossy frame and very sturdy pedestal to hold the TV.

The Clarity is so crystal clear, I can actually see every aspect of what’s being played on the TV and there is NO blurring or un-matched coloring. I like having all the streaming content readily available on the home screen, which is laid out and designed perfectly.

The suggestions of content to watch and all the different content will keep me occupied and thoroughly entertained. As far as the color content of the TV, words can’t express how crystal clear, vibrant and clean it is when watching the content.

I am very surprised at how massive the TV is, yet it enhances my viewing greatly and compliments my living room décor, viewing the TV at any angle or place in my living room is no problem at all. I really like the enhanced Solar Powered remote which has replaced all the remotes I needed previously to control all my connected devices to my old TV.

Not only is the TV Smart, so is the remote, it is sleek, not cluttered with buttons and I like that it can be charged either just by the plug in cord or own it’s own by sunlight. My excitement about this TV can’t be contained, I’ve never had a Smart TV and owning this Samsung has reminded me how great the brand is and what I have been missing in a Samsung Smart TV.

I will definitely remain a Samsung customer and can’t wait to show it off to family/friends and tell co-workers. Overall, the 75” QN85B Samsung Neo QLED 4K Smart TV gets a 10 OUT OF 10 from me and again my excitement is extreme and I will definitely enjoy this TV for many years.

I’ve been using my new Samsung 75” QLED 4K TV for about a month now and it just absolutely blows my previous 4K TV out of the water in every way possible. I’ve been using it with a variety of content from movies and TV shows to gaming and have been very impressed.

The 4K is extremely crisp and clear even in very high motion scenes. The Smart Calibration seems to do a very good job deciding what I am watching and adjusting accordingly, I haven’t felt the need to go into the settings and adjust anything like I had with my previous TVs.

The black levels and color contrast of this TV are like nothing I’ve ever seen before. The black parts of the scene look like that part of the TV is completely turned off while the colors are still extremely vibrant and clear even during high motion scenes.

The auto volume is also a very handy feature, whenever my wife is vacuuming it raises the volume so I can still hear it and lowers it back down when she is done without me ever touching the remote. While the built in speakers are very impressive for small TV speakers, I do still prefer a nice surround sound soundbar to go with it.

One major improvement in regards to that from my previous TV is that the eARC is instantaneous and doesn’t lag when changing volume or audio sources like my old. I do wish I had some more fine tuning of the audio options when I am using eARC but my sound bar has then built in so it’s not the end of the world.

One thing I would like to see improved is the home menu. It starts autoplay with audio from Samsung’s Free TV option, which might I add is actually a very neat feature and I have used it a lot, but I don’t want it to autoplay on my home screen! I’m sure that’s something they can fix in a future software update, I just really hope they do.

On that note of the home screen, I am very impressed with the responsiveness of the built-in smart TV and included apps. Virtually no lag and apps just work as expected, with no issues at all. The initial setup was very painless and I was able to do it all right on my phone using the SmartThings apps.

I also have a Samsung fridge linked to the SmartThings app and now that I added the TV I get notifications right on my TV if I forgot to close the fridge door, a super handy feature! Overall, I am extremely impressed with this Samsung TV and happy with my purchase.

I will absolutely be buying another in the future for my bedroom. I received this product at a discount in exchange for my honest opinion.

I’ve had the Q90B for almost a full month now prior to that I had the Q90A for the entirety of the extended holiday return period and am coming from Sony Master series Z9F. I’ve put each through it’s paces and imo there is simply no beating Sony Master Class sets but they have an advantage being that each Master class set has been hand picked and calibrated by sony engineers out each years “yield” of panels produced and that comes at a cost, a cost I personally can’t pay at point in time.

It leaves an unlevel playing field unfortunately. Onto my experience with Samsung’s recent LCD Mini LED Flagships. Hands down the Q90A wins this one and was an eye searing gorgeous display with no problems across the board as far as all the problems these sets can have today like DSE, Blooming,Motion processing and so far it passed countless calibration or stress tests for the various issues i mentioned above one can find an abundance of on you tube these days.

That screen was as close to perfect I’ve seen and I regret having the urge yo have the latest greatest second generation of it in the Q90B as I cannot say the same for it. Nowhere near it actually. One thing both share that for me is a huge problem is the reflection handling.

I don’t have anything against a rainbow but I surely don’t appreciate a massive one engulfing the full picture side to side coming from the clearly visible ceiling light fixture 18 ft from the screen.

It is a brilliant rainbow but I’ll pass thank you. The ultra wide viewing angle film is apparently the issue causing this and Samsung did nothing to improve on last years model. My problem with the Q90A was feeling as if I was being hand held and limited by the way the TV wanted my settings to be chosen.

Each feature when chosen locks you out of another feature you may want to try and I’m old and foolish for that. The Q90B is a bit better on this and would be sufficient if everything else checked out.

The overall picture is just off, I’ve tested and used it with it calibrated by the potentially very cool new implementation of a calibration app on 2019 and newer samsung smart phones and factory settings both.

The blooming on the B is as bad as my Sony and impossible to ignore. The DSE which is something I have never dealt with before is heavy and can’t be missed. The colors are waaaaay off even after calibration but especially on factory settings with red being orange, green being a nice yellow, blue is somewhere in between and can’t be described.

The pixelation is weirdly reminiscent of a 1990’s home video on VHS made by your weird uncle on everything but the highest level input by the Xbox series X that still can’t get this thing to shine. It’s unfortunate and with all the fantastic praise I am seeing about this set I’m led to believe I simply got a bad panel despite reports that there is very little of that with this years Samsung panels.

Oh and the sound? I’ve no idea what this Motion tracking sound + feature is as I have yet to hear it and the preset options are not there you’ve got normal and “amplified’ and that’s it. Alone at home with nothing else in the house running but the refrigerator I’ve had to turn the volume to 70 in order to hear the national news it is terrible and weak maybe that’s why I’ve not once noticed the new sound tracking feature on a Samsung.

I have heard this new sound feature in store at a Best Buy locally but my memory fails me as to which model it was as I was there killing time when buying an ipad last december. My experience with Samsung’s flagships has been a bumpy ride and I really can’t offer advice as I do believe I got a bad panel but I can and have offered my experience with them and the 2022 Q90B in specific.

As my first venture into 4K current generation television ownership, my purchase of the new Samsung QN90B Neo QLED 4K Smart TV was made following hours of online research, pouring through reviews and comparisons, particularly in comparison to the rival OLED products.

My decision in the end came down to two key areas – price point and the overwhelming consensus that this TV is up there with the kings of next-generation gaming televisions. At around $500. 00 cheaper than the nearest comparable option in the LG C2 OLED range (the 48 inch) the QN90B represented quite a significant difference in terms of price point.

And while I had thought at first that choosing Neo QLED over the highly rated LG OLED panel would be something of a compromise, I am very happy to say that this hasn’t been the case at all. With my television situated in a brighter living room, the extraordinary bright colours of the QN90B make for a simply exhilarating viewing experience.

Casual viewing, such as watching the football, becomes a real experience. Booting up my PS5 for the first time in Game Mode becomes life changing. Making the most of the HDMI 2. 1 connection (of which there are four) the PS5 runs some of the most immersive gaming experiences I can recall.

Next-gen titles such as Spider-Man Miles Morales run as smooth as ever and simply glisten in 4K with the brightness of the Neo QLED panel. While there had been some criticism of the new Tizen OS interface in some circles, I’m happy to say that this hasn’t been my experience.

The interface is responsive, easy to use and lightning fast to navigate. In fact, button press to button press, this is likely the fastest and most response smart television (or any television) I’ve ever used.

Sleek and understated, the design of the QN90B will look at home in any home living room, whether wall mounted or fastened to the solid metal stand. The remote is a brilliant, simple design which allows for simple navigation and can recharge either via the USB-C connection or solar energy via a panel at the rear.

If you are weighing up your first venture into a QLED or OLED television, the Samsung QN90B is not an option to be dismissed – this is the television you are looking for.

I got this for my birthday so bear in mind that I didn’t pay to receive this and therefore I don’t have any money lost to factor into my review. Also I’ve only had this TV for two days so this is very first impressions.

I’m going from a 50″ Samsung Crystal UHD that’s about 2-3 years old to the 50″ Neo QLED and the difference is astounding. Far more vibrant image, more crisp visuals and it really helps that the anti-glare technology reduces the reflection I have from the window in my room placed opposite (doesn’t completely eliminate it of course but does a great job reducing it a lot).

The sound is so good I don’t even need to hook my soundbar up to the TV anymore (although based on Bluetooth connectivity it seems my Samsung soundbar won’t pair with the TV anyway for some reason. Not too mad at that though precisely because the sound is so good and my soundbar wouldn’t make much of a difference to the experience).

Gaming on the TV looks better than it ever has before and even games I’m used to take on a whole new life being able to actually SEE what’s going on. Even watching older content looks far better and the upscale to 4K works very well in some instances.

The menus are a little more sluggish than I’d like but they’re snappier than what I had before so I can’t complain much. The gripes I DO have are with how convoluted the menus are and needing to use both remotes.

I have experience with my previous TV, my brother’s QLED TV and my girlfriend’s Smart Monitor (all Samsung products) and the menus on all of those are far more streamlined and sensible that this one.

Maybe it’ll take time to get used to it but the TV doesn’t pick up my Nintendo Switch like my previous one did so it doesn’t classify it as a games console, meaning the ability to select it from the Game menu isn’t available.

Also if I want to switch to YouTube I now have to go to the home menu and select it from there whereas on my old TV I could just have my input sources and apps all on one menu. I would get into more detail about how I manage to access my PS5, Switch, Xbox Series X and YouTube but it’s more complicated than you’d think it is (not to mention there’s the possibility to confuse between accessing the Xbox Series X and the ability to stream Xbox games directly to the TV).

The universal remote is cool to use but it doesn’t have access to all the features, particularly changing input source so I either need to use the old remote to do that or hold the settings button down to bring up a shortcut menu where my main input sources are, but that’s not as quick as just pressing a button and it takes a little longer to bring that shortcut menu up.

It’s very nitpicky for sure but an issue nonetheless. Customisation of the home screen has kind of helped streamline the process a little more but everything really feels more cluttered and hectic than it did before and it makes me yearn for the simplicity of the interface from my last TV.

All in all though I don’t think you can go wrong with this TV. If you’re a simple person who wants a good quality image then this TV won’t disappoint. If you want a solid gaming experience then this TV is great for it.

If you want to enjoy your movies/shows/videos in better detail than you’ve ever seen them then this is for you. It’s just a bit of a pain to access it all.

Hey everyone, just wanted to quickly give my impressions on the new Samsung S95B QD-Oled tv I got: Perfect uniformity, all the way down to 1% grey fields No color tinting, even on white it is pristine Input lag numbers provided below with Leo Bodnar 4k tester The brightness… wow, way brighter than the my G1 oled, way way brighter The entire image looks more 3d depth than any display I have seen before Motion is much cleaner than the G1 Zero image retention, tested against the G1, which gets it right away, huge difference here Anti glare is more effective than the G1 The tv screen feels and looks like glass (apparently the tv has Cornings new gorilla/astra glass) compared the LG oleds that have a plastic feel to the screen The QD Oled is the best display I have ever seen in my life, especially for gaming.

The uniformity is perfect, the brightness is incredible, perfect blacks, motion that is so clear and sharp, no input lag, VRR and the colors… wow. QD Oled tech is looking to fix all the issue I have with wrgb: No tinting, even at extreme angles No vertical banding, even down to 1% grey slides!! Pixel structure is very tight on QD Oled, not on wrgb Motion is clearer The QD Oled is like if you took an qled and combined with and Oled and then gave it better than plasma uniformity and crt depth of image and colors and you get an idea what this display is like.

Displays I currently own so you all can get an idea where I am coming from: 75 Sony Z8H 65 LG G1 55 Samsung S95B 60 Pioneer 600m In the past I have had: 75 Sony Z9D 55 LG C7 Samsung Q9F Here are the details for input lag numbers for the Samsung S95B QD Oled tested with the Leo Bodnar 4k lag tester: Game mode at 4k: 9.

4ms on Fastest input lag setting/ 13ms on faster setting/ didn’t bother checking fast setting Game mode with Game Motion plus turned on at 4k: 13ms with fastest input lag setting Game mode with Game Motion plus and BFI at 4k 60: 35ms , has less flicker than LG G1 in bfi with fastest input lag setting PC Mode at 4k : 9.

2ms on Fastest input lag setting Some special notes: You can have Still use medium and High Peak Brightness in Game mode and with Game Motion plus so BFI from a brightness standpoint is possible now, hopefully they can get the lag down in that mode! PC mode does 4:4:4 and allows you to still use peak brightness medium and high which is amazing and I see no brightness difference over non pc mode and no dimming in either modes with logo dimming off.

In PC mode you cannot select Game Motion Plus. Below I am going answer many questions I have gotten on this tv: 1: No vertical banding at any IRE or any color or panning screens, zero dse on the screen.

Watching Hockey is next level on this tv! 2: Viewing angles are as far as you want to go with no tinting, it is something you actually will notice in a good way. 3: I left the screen on for 12hrs straight yesterday and had it playing random 4k game clips at max brightness.

The tv screen and back metal backplate was cold to the touch. My LG G1 will eventually get warm doing something like that. 4: No image retention. I was asked to test leaving screens with bright yellow and even over 20-30 mins sitting there, no image retention.

These displays are like crt in that regard, very robust image retention compared to wrgb which my LG G1 shows retention after 10-20 seconds. This was done with pixel shifting off and logo dimming off at max brightness and peak brightness at High, also tested at medium and same results, no image retention.

5: VRR works perfectly. There is some flicker on loading and menu screens like Halo Infinite. I have not encountered any other VRR flickering in gameplay. Issues I have seen on this tv: 1: The pixel shift seems to sometimes revert back to on after turning the tv off and turning it back on.

Have to go into the menu to turn on and off again to turn it off. 2: The panels are very thin, mine has a slight warping/bend probably due to shipping. Nothing that is noticable unless really looking for it.

So just be careful moving it. 3: There is some VRR flicker in some Halo Infinite menus, have not seen other instance yet. I hope this information helps.

Quick Review: This TV has a lot of good going for it but it takes more than it should at this price point to get there. – -1 star: remote – -1 star: overall engineering – -1 star: Tizen Lost my Sony A9G to a lightning storm, current A9J is a 2021 model and after research and reading reviews I opted to for the Samsung 65” S95B.

Here are some reasons I removed some stars: • -1 Star: Digital services may come and go however TV hardware inputs are forever. The minimalist Samsung remote has sponsored streaming services like Prime and Disney+ but it takes too button clicks to access the HDMI inputs (menu, arrow over, select this, click that).

Samsung tried really hard to make this an inconvenience • -1 Star: TV is flimsy to the point where it has a minor bend to the screen. I am not the first to mention this in a review but I’ll mention just how flimsy the tabletop stand is.

For the rare few of you that will use the stand assembly will leave you frustrated and asking how does an expensive TV come with such a poorly designed stand. • -1 Star: Everything now has sponsored results show before what you are actually searching for, this TV’s operating system is no exception.

Even if you create shortcuts for HDMI inputs or alternative streaming services you are not able to place them in front of Samsung’s sponsored content adding an additional (or several) button clicks to access what you are looking for.

Samsung does not understand their clients and those willing to purchase a TV at this price point do not want to continuously be reminded of sponsored movies, streaming services, etc. Settings you will want to change to make this picture descent, or at least resemble that of what an OLED should look like.

After all you paid for an OLED the image should look like it however I have noticed that the TV will still set the picture depending on source. Even after changing image settings below and setting to “all sources” the TV will still randomly change picture settings depending on the app, for instance watching 4K on the Prime app will automatically change the picture to FilmMaker mode, I didn’t ask it to change and there is no way to change it back because when you click Menu it pauses the program and changes back into the previous picture mode.

Under Picture expert mode: • Turn Off Intelligent Mode – It is anything but intelligent unless you like eye fatigue and bias blue • Dynamic Contrast – OFF • Color Space – Warm1 • Saturation – Level 5 • Brightness enhancement – Low Under General -> Power: • Leave automatic brightness on but lower setting to 25 • Turn off everything else.

Beautiful TV with gorgeous picture and ridiculously clean screen. No dse or pink tinting and easily the widest viewing angles of any other tech. Samsung did a great job recently fixing its filmmaker mode on a recent update but the TV still needs a lot of work.

Tizen is still slow and brutal to use but luckily I use all external devices so not a huge deal for me but may be for some. The auto color space function does not work and needs to be switched manually for each content when necessary.

They need to add a dynamic tone mapping toggle like their competitors offer as there is still some undefeatable mapping happening still even in filmmaker mode. They need to fix motion controls as well as even when off there is still some level applied which still causes some artifacts not to mention they are still easily in third place when it comes to their motion processing.

They also need to concede and offer Dolby Vision as the rest of the market has already jumped on the DV train. I have a very much love hate relationship with this TV. It has great picture that can really wow at times but still has lots of bugs that just kill the user experience.

It really is the next level TV tech but just feels rushed or just poorly implemented on Samsungs part. It can easily be the TV of the year with a little more attention and fixes to the software but as it stands now I am still considering returning for an LG G2.

Even as amazing and more capable as the QD OLED is, unless side by side, LG still gives an amazing picture, but with better software. So choice is best picture, clean panels and great game mode with cruddy software, features that don’t work right and other bugs that make for a frustrating experience vs a not as good but still impressive picture, slight panel lottery and equally great game mode with better software with features that work correctly? I will see what other fixes they offer between now and when my return window closes and continue weighing my options.

The XR-55A95K has some great features which include acoustic surface audio+, this means that sound comes directly from the screen thus greatly enhancing your visual and audio pleasure. This is made possible by actuators delicately vibrating to create sound that moves within the picture so that dialogue and effects can be heard from precisely the right places.

The unit also has two sub woofers. Other features are Bravia Core, HDMI 2. 1 and Google Tv. The Sony XR-55A95K is well served on the connectivity front with an impressive array of functionality with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, USB, Ethernet, HDMI.

There are 4 HDMI sockets on board and although only two of these are 2. 1 48Gbps standard, all four sockets support Variable Refresh Rate and Auto Low-Latency Mode. The two 2. 1 standard inputs also cover eARC, 4K @ 120Hz and Auto Tone Mapping.

There are two USB inputs, Main and Sub satellite tuner ports and an RF input. The Bluetooth connection is 4. 2 and there are also speaker posts so that the TV can be used as a centre channel in a surround sound system for their Sony.

A 3. 5mm socket is also present for use with composite video or centre speaker output. This Sony smart TV has QD-OLED technology or Quantum Dot, which I’m led to believe is designed to be a composite of the best qualities of both OLED and QLED know-how.

Now, I’m no techno geek, but whatever the technology is, the one thing I do know is that it produces an absolutely stunning picture quality across the entire screen, with excellent clarity. The panel is to all intents and purposes, entirely visible screen, due largely to the fact that the bezels, top, left and right are a mere 7mm, with the bottom one just slightly chunkier.

It’s on this bezel you’ll find the IR for the remote and a microphone. Viewed side on, the unit at 43mm in width, isn’t perhaps the slimmest I’ve seen, but it’s hardly what you might call cumbersome and looks just right to me.

The television comes complete with table stand for those not wishing to take advantage of the Vesa sockets on the rear of the unit which are positioned 300 mm apart and although I don’t intend at this moment to wall mount this one, for those who are, they 6mm machine screws are already in position at the back.

The stand can be fixed to the unit in two different positions, with the slate at the front and the stand at the back, or with the stand at the front. It’s good to have the choice and although I’ve fixed the stand to the rear of the telly, fixing it with the stand out front would allow you to have the unit pretty much flush with a wall or whatever.

The choice is yours. The stand itself has quite a weight to it and secures the telly comfortably once all fixings are in place with very little movement once in its final position. As I mentioned earlier, the cowlings, or rather panels that come with the telly are designed to clip onto the back of the unit so as to neatly cover the input sockets and connection wires leading from or to them and serve the purpose, once all are in place, to flush off the rear of the television neatly.

Also, even if the sockets or inputs are not being used, the panels will help in dust protection for these ports. The Bravia CAM that is included in the pack has a connection port at the top centre of your Sony which, once located properly will snap magnetically into position.

I believe Sony’s intentions for the cam go way beyond the video chat functionality that is its present capability and to add such features as Ambient Optimisation Pro. AOP would apparently, be able to adjust picture and sound settings based on your location within the room you are viewing in, although I’m not quite sure if I’d personally be happy about the tv constantly changing my settings.

Other possible advances being suggested for the camera are Gesture control, Proximity alert, possibly to prevent children sitting too close to the screen and an auto power saving function. At the moment though it appears web chat is its prime function initially via Google Duo.

As I mentioned earlier there are two remote controls which ship with your smart television and although I was initially confused by this, I have been reliably informed by a friend of mine, who is far more techie than I, that this is the norm now.

The aluminium fronted, smaller, more chic looking remote control, covers most of the major functions/Apps with hot-keys for Bravia Core streaming service, Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+ and Google assistant/Microphone, and of course the usual volume and channel up/down.

The other remote is a more general control with a number pad but it does share some common controls of its way nicer brother. I’ve only used it fleetingly as my preference is for the slimmer more ergonomic remote.

There will undoubtedly be many more technically driven reviews of this terrific smart television in magazines and on the net and this review is only my personal interaction and experience with the XR-55A95K so far and to that end, I hope this review has been of some use to you.

I found this to be an outstanding piece of equipment from both a visual and sonic perspective and although I’ve a lot of tweaking still to do to achieve my idea of entertainment heaven it’ll be a pleasure doing it with the Sony.

Wow, what can I say, it definitely earns the ‘Master’ title and although not a huge leap in regards to OLED technology, there’s an important key leap for a better overall visual experience, namely the brightness.

It’s very much on par with LED with specular highlights that now punch through and with the advantage of pure black of OLED, we’re onto a new era of visual experience technology. An increase in colour volume can most definitely be seen with surprisingly positive results in older TV shows all without it looking oversaturated, being down to Sony’s amazing processing algorithms and decades of experience in TV/Film production and broadcasting; Sony being the only electronics company to be involved on both sides.

Of course HDR and Dolby Vision experience has certainly gone up a few levels and after two weeks of daily use, the TV should now be broken in and looks almost spectacular, making me revisit my modern SDR/HDR and older movie collection.

In regards to sound, I think it’s a first for Sony in recent models, employing surface acoustics and surprised at the results. Unlike me previous TV, which sounds good too, for dialogue the directness is superb and no longer emanating from below but at ear level, especially if you’re like me and don’t just follow trends to hang TV’s 6 foot high but rather at the “correct” height for the true experience.

The inclusion of bass drivers, though not earth shattering, do actually had some depth even to the timbre of dialogue but also be heard even in some movies, making every day listening a better experience.

The surround processing/effects are not so pronounced but stereo separation does sound really good. For the ultimate movie pleasure, you’d still be better with a dedicated surround receiver but won’t require it as much for general viewing, as I would previously.

Getting to the design, in my opinion Sony’s design house are masters in what appeals to the senses, who strike a chord and balance for many of the public but with enough edge to make them standout and appeal to the eye, unlike let’s say Bang and Olufsen, which would appeal to less but are of course also masters of design for some.

I have been a fan of Sony design ever since my first cassette Walkman, going onto Discman, MD, Aibo and many other what I call art technology in electronics from Sony, having owned many from the brand too This monolith style TV is no exception and is sublime, especially having the stand on the rear, a minimalistic clean design which is my penchant.

The stand by the way is very heavy, seems the whole weight of the TV and physics will tell you, it makes sense, as the TV is very very unlikely to topple. As the TV uses Google operating system, it’s more fluid than the previous iteration, with a snappy feel moving from options and settings, exactly how it should be.

There’s plenty to explore, adjust and tweak also with the usual Google Android play market accessible to add more interaction. Ok, to the not so great. No technology is perfect and neither is this TV.

I’m somewhat disappointed in the true accuracy of colour and although it very near it’s not. This TV commands a high price and for that I expect around 99% correct coming out the assembly line. Mine has a slight green tint and can easily be seen, especially in green foliage and whites.

Now granted, my profession as a photographer will see such details quickly as I’m use to using calibrated monitors from Eizo, but for the cost of a TV which I’d feel is targeted towards true movie connoisseurs too, it should be better.

My preference would be to include the measuring tools and license, as I know how colour/light shifts over time; one would expect it, especially to command such a premium. I guess I will now need to buy a license and tool to remove the green tint and to attain the true accuracy.

Also one slight niggle with the remote. It’s a perfect size, better than my previous premium Sony remote of the XH9505, feels nicely balanced in the hand and eliminates the clutter BUTI don’t understand the logic to remove the Forward/Rewind buttons, they are very much used in my use cases on apps such as Youtube and similar; does not make sense.

Also, I still had wished they included smart buttons, allowing you to assign either apps or settings to a few buttons; we don’t always have the need for Netflix/Prime/Disney. So, overall, it’s obvious I adore this TV, the best I’ve ever owned and more than the majority of people won’t be disappointed owning it but I do wish Sony allowed all owners experience near perfection in the colour accuracy, though they’ll still have the best experience compared to the competition.

My personal rating 4. 5 stars.

The picture quality on this tv is insane, it gets incredibly bright and has amazing colors. This is the closest tv I have found to OLED, it definitely doesn’t compare to an OLED if you did a side by side comparison but in the real world you will still find yourself amazed by the picture quality.

My main issue with this tv is Samsung’s horrible UI which bombards you with ads and is just horribly laid out. It takes several clicks to get anywhere and doesnt compare to LG’s UI which is significantly better.

Also the Local Dimming setting is horribly broken. If you turn it on high, it makes each scene look better by increasing contrast and brightness while still keeping blacks dark but once massive downside is the overexposure of skin tones.

It is a very distracting issue that even my wife noticed. It is very obvious that the software needs tweaked as the tv struggles when quickly going from dark to light and is the most notable with skin tones, the worse scenes for this are if someone walks in front of another person and the scenes goes dark from their clothes and then has to go back to the other person which is much brighter, the screen almost flashes as it tries to quickly get back up to the higher brightness and then quickly realizes that is too bright and then returns to normal.

It is very weird and I find myself constantly turning off the local dimming entirely but the TV only looks like an OLED with this feature enabled otherwise it just looks like a regular tv. One big surprise for me was how good the tv speakers are.

They are genuinely the best tv speakers I have ever heard. Significantly better than the LG CX or the Sony X90j. Normally I immediately get a sound bar for tvs but these speakers are so good I havent felt the need to go out and spend the extra money on a sound bar.

I can watch movies like Mad Max and feel perfect fine about the speakers. But obviously a sound bar will sound much better and fuller but if you are someone who wants to save a few dollars as you just spent a small fortune on a tv then they are awesome or if you have a spouse who doesnt like the bass heavy and loud sound bars then this is the tv for you.

Overall not at all as consistent as my LG CX OLED but close enough to get the job done and without the fear of burn in or image retention always being in the back of your mind.

When considering upgrading my 9 yr old Samsung TV I truly gave all the other smart TV brands on the market a fair chance to earn my business, but in the end Samsung took the top spot and now here are the two primary reasons why Samsung is my top choice.

First, Samsung’s QLED technology provides some of the best color and brightness performance available on an LCD TV. Even as QLED technology has proliferated out to other manufacturers – In my opinion Samsung is still the market leader for QLED products.

Samsung’s leadership in QLED technology is well earned, and my Samsung QLED TV provides the best alternatives on the market to more expensive OLED TVs. While OLED delivers better performance in many respects – offering pixel-perfect lighting control and perfect blacks – the technology still commands a premium price, personally that is something I was not prepared to pay for, with that said Samsung’s refinements of the technology have narrowed the gap considerably in recent years.

And, it’s worth noting, that when it comes to overall brightness and vibrancy of colors, my TV makes everyone’s jaw drop EVERYTIME we watch a relevant scene. The second key winning point for this Samsung QLED TV is the Tizen smart TV operating system.

Samsung’s proprietary smart TV platform may have a funky name, but it boasts one of the most polished smart TV experiences available, from the refined interface, to the integration of smart home controls and premium features like ambient mode.

My Samsung TV has also improved the voice interaction aspects, bolstering the lackluster Bixby assistant with support for Amazon Alexa and the ability to connect to Amazon and Google smart speakers. The realness of the images on the screen are still freaking my wife, after two weeks of having the TV.

Everybody at home LOVES movie nights 🙂 All in all look for the right deal that fits in your budget, and you will not be disappointed with a Samsung QLED TV. Enjoy!.

I’ve owned this TV for 5 months now, already had it replaced once. You watch the YouTube reviews and everything looks great and to that end picture is good but there’s (what I consider to be) a severe defect that nobody tells you about.

(Especially if the TV has been off for a hour or more) when you turn the TV on there’s often a delay of about 5-10 seconds where you absolutely can’t use the remote control. The example I used to Samsung is that lets say I was watching a loud movie or some music videos during the day on high volume and I turned the TV off, now it’s late night and I want to turn the TV on but if I do I’ll wake my partner because for about 5s the volume would be stuck on high.

No this isn’t about SmartHub performance, that’s another issue altogether because as a Plex user the performance in the app is slow too but the remote control issue is way worse. I owned a Q60T, then a Q70T and in my house we also have a MU7000 and in 2019 I bought a RU7100 for my sister.

I’ve gotten rid of the 60T and 70T but the point is that I’ve never experienced any of these problems on any of the TV’s mentioned. In fact I’ve made a number of videos as evidence to show Samsung but Samsung itself has simply responded to say that the device is working within spec so what I’m seeing is normal.

I’m a IT enthusiast, into PCs and gadgets and I’ve never built a new PC where stuff is just slower than the last one and it’s a sad sad day when a manufacturer start selling sub par products. My guess is that (if enough people complain about it then) Samsung will fix this problem down the line and say ‘oh look, now with better performace’.

yes Samsung, thanks for fixing the problem that YOU introduced. Spread the word so that others don’t have buyers remorse like I do. I’m already thinking up ways to flog this TV off in the 2nd hand market to buy something else but for now options are limited in South Africa.

Gosh I wish Sony would sell us the Bravia Master range. I live in a world where tech goes FORWARD Samsung, not backward. In all my life I’ve never seen a TV where a remote control doesn’t just work when you turn the device on.

In my video evidence there was even a weird problem at first where it wasn’t showing me the battery power, the problem resolved itself after a day or 2 but nobody commented on that either. PS: Samsung PLEASE fix the ‘period of use’ field on your site, there’s 1-3 months then 6-12? What about 4 or 5 months?.

Bought this tv from BB in-store during the Nov 2021 sales and have been using it for a few months already. Overall, it’s a very good tv, with a few disappointments that don’t seem to get much coverage since people like Tincent Teoh and the other prominent reviewers mostly focus on the tv’s picture quality.

The things I want to rant about are the awful webOS interface and the really weak SoC (processor) that is running the “smart” functionality. First, there’s a lot of ads during the normal usage of the tv.

When powering on, every few days I get a barrage of popup ads for things like “Free Apple+ trial. “, “Download our new Tiktok app. “, “Try Disney+. ” in a grey bubble overlaying whatever else is on-screen.

Then there’s the home screen, which takes up the full screen and then some since you have to scroll down to get to the inputs. The top ~1/3rd is a weather widget, some LG-specific widget that wants you to make an LG account and login, and then a search bar.

The middle 1/3rd of the screen is a “Trending now” aggregate of basically-ads for shows/movies on various platforms, then there’s a thinner row of Apps and below that you can see the top edge of the list of display inputs.

If you view a video/photos of what this all looked like on the CX and earlier models, it was a thin bar at the bottom of the screen that occupied ~20% of the screen height that gave you access to everything you might want without all the extra garbage we’re saddled with now.

In the individual apps, there’s also a lot of focus on “Trending Now” and “Recommended” content, and to just get to being able to resume a show you’re already watching, you have to scroll thru in some cases several screenfuls of these ads.

Definitely doesn’t feel like a premium TV- this might be expected in an low-cost model that’s partially subsidized with these ads, but not one that’s 2nd most expensive our of probably a dozen model lines from this mfg.

The second big issue I have with this tv is that while the webOS interface and apps all look very flashy, they really push the SoC to it’s limits and don’t run all that well on day 1, which makes me worry about how they will run in 5 or even 10 yrs.

Scrolling around in the apps and menus, there’s a lot of pizazz with video previews of highlighted items in apps, and they run just ok while the tv is new. Scroll more than a few lines at a time and there’s noticeable framedrops and stuttering, item pop-in delays, etc.

In short, this thing runs it’s OS with the same apparent processing power as a $35 Amazon Firestick 4k- which is equivalent to a lower-mid range phone from ~2015 (quadcore A53, maybe 1GB RAM). Same thing with the ethernet connection: 100Mb only, which could bottleneck 4k blu-ray quality streams over the network.

Bringing the SoC up to date to today’s mid-range and upgrading to the >20yr old gigabit ethernet standard would have increased the bill of materials by maybe $10-15, and for a tv with an MSRP of $2800-3000, this should have been done! I only use the Netflix, Amazon and Media Player apps, and this tv doesn’t seem to have enough RAM to keep just these 3 apps ready-to-go: starting Netflix there’s often a 10-20s loading time.

It’s entirely possible that just like many weaker Android devices, this tv won’t even be able to reliably run these apps in a few years, with random crashing occurring because the device is too weak/not enough RAM to keep up with the gradual increase in bloat in apps over time.

Overall, it is a good tv, but LG is really coasting on its superior OLED display and has been making a lot of regressions in other areas affecting user experience. WebOS is a lot worse today than it looked on the CX and earlier models, we no longer have DTS audio support or even passthrough, and the SoC probably has been recycled for a few years without an update/spec bump to keep up with the added workload being assigned to it.

Bought this TV to use as a monitor replacement… and it didn’t work out as expected: to be honest unless you can drive a 4K 48” display to 120hz, it doesn’t work as a monitor; what’s more even when you do have the hardware to drive it, movies and even games at 60hz and below are hard to view that close at such a low pixel density(same pixel density of a 24” 1080p screen).

I changed my entire setup to work with it, put it slightly raised about 5 feet away, and increased the scaling a bit on my computer still at 120hz; Best Decision I’ve ever made. Gaming is pretty good on this thing: I’m not new to hyper frame rate gaming, and if you haven’t experienced anything over 60hz, this thing will seem pretty incredible.

Even the PS5 running spiderman with 120hz auto enabled(strikes and responses are noticably faster, even if the system can’t fully take advantage of creating a full 120fps). Movies and Sports motion are good: personally, I prefer my Sony in my living room for better color and below 60hz motion response, but this thing is no slouch… Sound: usually I’m the first to complain about sound, but the AI actually does a great job at compensating for the close distance.

I’m amazed at times by what it can do, and this is coming from a planar loving audiophile. I’m not sure how it would do in a large room, and it’s possible the base helps deliver bass with the downfiring speakers; which means they might not sound quite as full wall mounted.

:::Extra comment::: I’d mention the g-sync issues, but these are well known with most n-vidia devices, when bouncing between different inputs the devices can incorrectly sync themselves for audio, which causes a weird clipping sound, restarting the connected device re-syncs the devices and fixes the issue, not a big deal… but it does suck when you want to do something, the audio keeps clipping, and it takes 30 secs for the device to restart.

WebOS is junk, somehow programmers have worked to keep modern apps on the platform, but that’s about it. Remote is amazing, but because of TV’s slow or at times just bad at CEC connectivity; it won’t be good for much beyond WebOS.

In other words, get a streaming box if you can, don’t punish yourself, unless you plan on using just basic app the entire TV’s lifespan(Netflix, Amazon, etc. ). Overall… its a good TV, it does have a tiny fan that kicks on from time to time; I’ve debated taking the back off and finding another method of cooling; but obviously this isn’t recommended for anyone to attempt.

Future Proofed… This thing has a lot going for it: WOLED has shown to have better overall blacks then QOLED (quatumly adjusting blue light to other spectrums causes light bleed from the background glow below the filter level of the sub-pixels), So from a purist point of view, WOLED might still be a better tech, even though QOLED produces insane colors and strangely clean brightness levels; due to the light still having blue spectrum speed, with the other color’s actual color.

FreeSync and all the HDMI 2. 1 controller additions will keep this a major player for atleast the next half decade… It is hard to say what will come next… if they can fix the bleeding issues, QOLED might still be the future, laser projection is growing in popularity day-by-day(some expect cheap high performing 4K laser projectors to be the next big thing in 5-6 years; large inflexible screens are hard to manufacture, ship, inventory, sell, and move; reduce cost enough and a small box that is easy to buy on whim, becomes attractive to consumers).

I am a gamer who has been playing on old 1080p screens for years. After literal years of research and saving I finally was ready to buy my first tv and as someone who mainly plays on my PS4 currently I was leaning more towards buying a 4K Sony tv.

I spoke with a friend about this plan and he urged me to shoot for an OLED instead. I was hesitant due to how bright I believed the OLED screen was and their higher price tag which is why I had been steering towards a more basic 4K model, but after more research I learned LCD screens actually generate more Lumens than OLED screens do and this model went on sale! He recommended this tv as opposed to one of Sony’s OLEDS because it is by and far more bang for your buck when you’re comparing OLEDS and he wasn’t wrong! My friend bought a 55″ for his bedroom and said it’s terrific but wouldn’t want to go bigger while I went for the 48″ and find myself saying the same thing lol.

Even though i’m playing on a base PS4 this tv makes my games look next-gen. The graphics are detailed and smooth thanks to the HDR and 120hz refresh rate of the tv, and tv shows, streams and movies look twice as good as they did on my old 1080p as well.

It took me a few hours following a youtube video and my friends advice to setup the display settings for each viewing mode but after I was done I was blown away with the picture quality and freedom to alter the graphics and make presets the tv will auto switch to dependant on the content I’m viewing.

Coming right out of the box the default settings were quite horrid with the brightness and sharpness set to max but once you lower the sharpness and adjust the brightness and white balancing to your liking you’ll love what you see, just youtube a display setup guide you’ll be golden! The tv definitely required two people to setup even while being the smallest model, it is a bit on the heavy and bulky side but nothing compared to the tube tvs I grew up with.

The speakers are not notable but I don’t really care since I live in an apartment with thin walls and usually watch tv with a gaming headset on anyway. I’m finding the remote to be really quite enjoyable despite the fact it has no backlight, and when I am tired of using it I can simply connect to the tv with my smart phone and use my phone as a second tv remote.

The screen mirroring and Android features are fantastic too I can finally easily watch anime that isn’t on Vrv or Crunchyroll or play Angry Birds on a 48″ screen. For the price and the quality you really can’t find a better deal! Buy one before they’re all gone!!! The C2 is having a lot of reported issues seems like LG has outdone themselves with the C1.

I’ve waited years and years to buy a quality OLED panel, constantly checking the LG offerings since the CX was released, especially because of the 48″ format, so to say I was excited buying this screen is an understatement.

The sub-1K price point was cracked during this current Black Friday sale (2021), therefore it was a no-brainer for me. The panel itself is top quality; deep blacks, natural colours, and the super high contrast you’d expect from an OLED, while it’s more than bright enough.

I primarily use the panel as a computer monitor: for productivity, gaming and passive entertainment. It has a high refresh rate of 120 Hz, and when running at 4K with gaming boost mode is enabled, input lag drops to a barely noticeable 5-6 ms (coming from a 27″ / 144 Hz / 1 ms panel).

With variable refresh rate technology and G/Freesync compatibility the panel refreshes very well even if output frames drop during gaming. Screen-tearing while gaming on a TV is absolutely a thing of the past (if your GPU can handle it!).

The inbuilt speakers are fairly decent and good enough for casual viewing and listening. I connect my Sennheiser HD650 headphones to the headphone jack (it has one!) if I’m playing games or want to have high fidelity audio output for music, etc.

I also have a pair of Bose Bluetooth headphones that pair up nicely for casual couch viewing. Eventually a sound bar or floor speakers will be my next upgrade. The system software is being aggressively updated due to the HDMI output issues from the late summer / autumn production models, and hopefully with the 03.

20. 85 firmware OTA coming any issues out of the box for those models will be solved (mine is one). System UI is fairly simply to navigate, especially because the magic remote makes it so easy (point and click), and there are a plethora of apps from Netflix to iPlayer to Amazon Prime pre-installed.

There’s also a degree of customisation when it comes to assigning quick launch apps to the numerical keys on the remote (long press to open assigned app). You’ll want to spend some time tuning the picture and audio depending on your use and environment.

The pre-set “professional” settings will warm the colour temperature and deepen the blacks, great for low-light movie viewing; while if playing games and with game mode enabled, the colour temperature will cool (this can be dampened via a menu setting), and so on.

Of course, if you want the absolutely 100% “true” representation you will want to calibrate, but I think out of the box it is really fine already by just adjusting the pre-set modes. As usual, the service from Richer Sounds is amazing.

It was the only place I was ever going to buy this panel!.

I chose this TV after a lot of research to replace a 2014 era 60″ Samsung plasma. I am very pleased. There were a few specific things that concerned me plus a couple I didn’t think of that I’ll address.

I was concerned about the fragility of the very thin screen. I saw a couple of OLEDs (both LG and Sony) on display that appeared to have buckled / warped under their own weight. I was especially concerned about not hanging them perfectly vertical.

Mine is about 5 deg forward. So far, everything is fine. I was also concerned about refresh. I have seen some blurred images during sports that I did not notice with my plasma. However, it may have been more about the source and a more critical (too close) viewing distance.

From a reasonable viewing distance it seems fine. Overall, I’d have to say this is a better picture than my plasma (which was also not a 4k tv) and I am pleased with this, including the viewing angle.

So the picture experience is somewhere between “not noticing a change from a 60″ plasma” to “better”. Oh, the reflections on the plasma glass are much less on this screen – that is nice. The only reason I did not give a 5th star is that I really do not like the LG GUI.

Its it overly complex. The simple things (changing inputs and exiting menus) are too hard and the interface seems 70% clogged with things I’ll never use. Unfortunately, the store could not (or would not) demonstrate this ahead of time.

I’m not sure I would have made a different choice but it would have at least been a more informed choice. Perhaps somewhere buried in the OS is a way to simplify the GUI. While perhaps I’m “too old” for the tech, my 16 year old is also bothered by it.

We are still learning how to manage the sound. There are a number of choices and none of them seem to be able to project pleasing background and clear voice at the same time. Our old set had maybe 3 choices and all were superior.

If you are like me and convinced that OLED is your only option to replicate the plasma experience, you will be pleased with this picture! I do highly recommend that you get an opportunity experience the GUI (and also try Sony) before you buy.

I will also mention that our 2019ish LG GUI is MUCH better so our previous expectation with LG was positive. Other positives; the price was right and the Geek Squad “deal” was ALMOST tempting now. In fact, after hanging this TV ourselves (we did it, its fine) because this TV is so light (potentially fragile) its built without great options for handling it.

I’m guessing LG engineers all use the base and have never put one on the wall. First, it sits higher than our old TV. To put it in the same location, I had to lower our mount. This was aggravating but you can’t see the paint damage.

Second, if you purchase anything larger than 65″, I highly recommend hiring Best Buy to do it. The support & installation deal is now worth it. They have the experience and probably extra tricks to do this easily (and they’d be responsible for lifting the massive, fragile object with no handles.

) Its a shame to be stuck with the brick of a base. I’d rather not have to buy it unless I want it. I have a pile of flat screen bases now – need one? Last thing, if this matters to you, you will be happy to find this info.

Our set up involves an amplified 75 ft plus run of in-wall HDMI from about 10 years ago. I was worried, very worried it wouldn’t work on new tech. Its fine. (I am also still looking for the parts to fix my plasma.

).

Streaming movies and shows (NF, Prime, HBO), watching local content from our NAS, and Xbox Series X are the main ways we utilize our TV. Pros: The brightness the Neo QLED can pump out can blow us away sometimes, which is great because we have a lot of daylight in our main room and the picture still shines through with ease.

The picture and color are beautiful, I’m no color expert but the colors look far more accurate than any of the conventional LED TVs I’ve owned in the past, and the black levels are equally good. Xbox Series X I have plugged into the HDMI 2.

1 port for maximum performance, and with the game mode that the TV can automatically switch is helpful. Cons: The first HDMI port is the only 2. 1 capable port, the others only support 2. 0, but that fits my needs alright so for me it was ok.

I notice sometimes during credits on a black screen that the Neo LED seems to be a bit dimmer at the edges of the text, maybe there’s a setting that corrects this that I’m not aware of, but it is more noticeable when you first start using the TV.

There are also rare times when something bright is on screen, like a HUD in a game, and the rest of the screen is dark you can see a slight glow around the lit element. I’ve only seen this a couple of times though, as normally the black level on the QLED seems pretty absolute.

Despite the few cons, I’m really happy with the purchase, and haven’t seen any other TVs in this price range that impressed me as much.

Let’s start off by noting that I was sent an open box unit masquerading as the New In Box unit I paid for. My wife immediately commented “This looks like it has been opened” as she looked at the horribly bad tape job and crushed corners.

So I had her video my opening the unit to document and sure enough, the stand wasn’t placed in the box properly and broke the screen. I was not happy but went to my local store and returned the unit, which the staff there was great to work with.

Ordered a new unit for in store pickup. Came within 2 days, opened in store and no issues. I have a few OLED’s as a comparison and while it’s not the same in terms of picture quality, it is close and has a punchier picture.

For $900 the TV is a pretty nice set and computer monitor. I have seen complaints about blurry text being viewed from a PC. On my set it is sharp and crisp. The sound- it has speakers is the best I can say so pair with a bar or speakers for better immersion.

Highlights include, well the highlights and color is exceptional with decent contrast to make the image pop. Styling is typical Samsung nice and menu seems snappy but not as ergonomic as I was expecting.

I thought about going with the new B but for the money especially on sale this is a very nice set.

TV’s are a hobby for me and I own a Sony 65″ Oled, a Samsung Q90R, a 43″ Samsung Q60A and a 85″ QN90A. I was so impressed with the 85″ QN90A that I really wanted to get the 43″ QN90A for my bar. So, I bought one without hesitation based on my experience with the 85″ QN90A.

I think I made a mistake. This TV is probably nicer than the 43″ Q60A, but not by much. The 43″ QN90A is a good TV. So is the Q60A but the Q60A is half the price. They both have really good pictures.

What I don’t appreciate about the Samsung 43″ QN90A is that it is $1300 and it has lower specs than my 85″ QN90A. This TV has a 24x processor and the 85″ has the Quantum HDR 32x. This TV has 60Hz refresh rate and the 85″ is 120Hz.

My 85″ QN90A has the ultra viewing angle and I am pretty sure the 43″ does not. I could be wrong but I am unable to confirm it. However, my viewing angle is good on the 43″ and great on the 85″ I did do my research and knew their were differences but the viewing angle got me irritated.

I felt like I mislead. In conclusion, this is a nice TV. But not for $1300. You can get a 48″ OLED for $1100. Get the OLED! I can’t fit a 48″ into my bar so I am stuck with 43″ LED/LCD’s. I just wish Samsung used the same specs to build the 43″ QN90A as the 85″ QN90A.

But they didn’t and are charging people like it is! This is a $900 TV at best.

1. TV program list is unable to show programs shown before, only after. People are unable to view the programs that have been shown to see program details. For example, they might want to see what the program name is and what time it is being broadcasted.

Although it is not a major issue, and that people can easily Google the details of the programs they are interested in, it is good if this feature is implemented, to make television watching for consumers to be more enjoyable.

2. Subtitles are unavailable for certain channels/ programs, or just heavily delayed. When subtitles are unavailable, it may be hard for people to understand the program, especially when people are speaking fast.

This will make watching television less enjoyable and more of a chore for consumers. A solution for this is to implement live caption into the television. Live caption, is already available for mobile phones.

If phones are able to implement it, even when offline, I do not see a reason why this television cannot. Moreover, to increase customer satisfaction with the product, and to make this product available to more people, live caption alongside with translations will be the cherry on top.

Translations would be useful for foreigners to understand English programs, and allow them to gradually learn the English language. This would make this product very sought after as foreigners would not need to subscribe to channels that speak in their language.

To improve on this, different audio languages should be implemented as well, to maximise the market of consumers for this device. 3. Buttons to manipulate the television would be helpful. If consumers lose the remote control, they lose all control of the television, and it would be really inconvenient for them to get another one.

If they choose to get another remote, until then, they are unable to watch the television. If they dont choose to get another remote, they lose all control of the television and are locked out of using it.

Implementing buttons on the frame of the television allows for better customer experience, and making life for consumers to use this product a lot more convenient.

The TV was bought last year, so this review is coming after approximately a year of use, give or take a month or so. The video quality of the screen appears to be very good, although occasionally it can be a little bit on the dark side.

It is currently in use with a 4K Fire Stick, an ageing Blu-Ray player that still miraculously works after almost ten years in use, and a Nintendo Switch. The real issue with this TV is the audio, and I’ve seen several other people online agree with this assessment.

On our previous Samsung TV, we had multiple adjustment options in the settings that made it easy to get balanced volume and fine-tune things to your preferences. These mainly included things like Clear Voice or similar, and Night Mode (which was an ear-saver for me, as I am very sensitive to volume changes).

This TV has NONE of these. On all three preset options, dialogue can be inaudible to almost completely silent, while special effects are blasted out so loudly that it’s almost impossible to watch any film/movie or TV show without clutching the remote and hovering over the volume button the whole time.

We have tried adjusting the equaliser settings over and over in different combinations, using Amplify, Auto Volume, Standard, Adaptive, and we have come to the conclusion that it is virtually impossible to get dialogue to be audible without everything else being far too loud.

We are in the process of buying a non-Samsung soundbar or set of speakers because we no longer trust Samsung to give us effective control over our audio experience. I did contact Samsung about this, and they were unable to be of any assistance.

They simply asked me to try all of the things that I had already tried already. If they would like to release firmware to add these features to the TV, I would be happy to receive them, but for now, I cannot recommend this TV to anyone who wants a good audio experience out of the box without already owning their own set of speakers.

I like that this 32″ panel can fit quite perfectly on a relatively fragile desktop designed for a 19″ display 2. on the 2015 J5500 the colors popped on this, THEY POSITIVELY EXPLODE1!!!!!!!!! in a cascading kaleidoscope of color in variations beyond perception & imagination resulting in a splendidly spectacular sensual sensory experience, that’s i’m sure is second to none! I also dig the selection of 15 streaming & cable options awating their puruse! Alas & regretfully, the weakest link is this BN59-01357F voice controlled remote consisting of 16 buttons linked to at least 3x the menu options, some of which are buried lower than pirate booty at Davy Jones locker! In addition, voice control is disconcerting in my opinion because that talking to oneself interned one in a local loony bin! therefore I’m skittish & skeezed about going there! as for the rationale towards saving the planet, i’ve been doing that since 2020 when I got tired of going thru conventional Eveready Lithium cells every two weeks by investing my cash in a cache of Nickel Hydride AA & AAA batteries, the most advanced, Panasonic Enerloops can be charged/discharged 2,000 times & just in case devices are the el exigente type requiring only 1.

5v or bupkis, I also have rechargable Lithium AA & AAA in my stash as well! then there fact that this set is devoid of buttons to countermand the remote manually incase there are issues causing the owner/operator to correct it! About the only good thing going for this remote is that it seems to be fabbed from aluminum vs.

plastic! which is precisely the reason why I docked the panel 1. star which is why I’m shopping around for the BN59-1315J which ran these TV before the concept on a voice remote was a gleaming lighbulb deep inside the brain trusts of the ergonomic engineers.

the remote control kerfuffle withstanding is not a deal slayer. because I’d still break the bank anew because this display is all that was ballyhooed to be!.

I’m still learning about this TV because there are a lot of features, I got this TV as an upgrade because I wanted to replace my 40inch tv from 2016. A huge benefit with these new TVs includes the immediate connection to Wi-Fi allowing you to access Netflix and all the other WIFI apps instantly.

The picture quality is remarkable I love how crystal clear it is. I was debating between this tv and a regular smart HD tv but I’m glad I paid the extra hundred dollars for this TV. Another advantage of this TV includes the 3 HDMI ports which is rare for a TV of this size.

I’m able to connect all my devices without having to switch out any HDMI cables. The remote is small and compact unlike their previous remotes. Once you get the hang of the remote it’s much easier to use than a traditional remote.

Also, you charge the remote via a USB C cable which saves money on the batteries. There are 3 pre-set buttons on the remote Netflix, Prime Video and Samsung Plus. While this is convenient there should have been additional pre-set buttons that could be customized.

The only issue I have this is TV is the volume which is on the softer side and it’s frustrating because for a standard volume you have to put the volume higher significantly. For example, my old tv for a standard volume 5 was sufficient and 10 would be rather loud.

In comparison you have to raise the volume up to 15 or 20 for a standard sound. If it wasn’t for the volume issue, I would have definitely given this TV 5 stars. Overall, I’m very pleased with this TV and I’m happy with the upgrade and I definitely recommend this TV.

EXCEPTIONAL 4K OLED TV the sound and display quality of the LG CX to me are immense, family compare the AI sound pro to that of a sound bar (there opinion) and say its great! I had done alot of research and went with the CX.

4x HDMI ports @4K120fps + Freesync Premium for the up coming new consoles. Comes with a Magic Remote which is basically a wireless mouse for TV. The web OS software built into the CX is broad and includes all the popular apps, super fast and responsive OS compared to friends and familys 4K TV’s.

My first purchase for a 4K TV is this one and i have no regrets, ive seen many 4K TVS in action and this one just stood out above the rest. Do some research on how to take care of your OLED before purchasing, OLED tvs are susceptible to something called “banding” which can appear either vertically or horizontally and look like lines that can be seen during certain movies, you will see a shadow like line or lines appear during movies or gaming scenes, believe me you cannot miss it.

Should you encounter this problem with the LG CX here’s abit of info: “banding” is a manufacturing fault, a panel defect. Should you be in warranty going through a claim and the manufacturer states: “banding” is within “spec” of your LG CX.

Tell them, which is your consumer right to request the LG CX TV specs in writing so that you can have an independent assessment done. They are not “spec” at all and by consumer law this would not be fit for its purpose making you eligible for a refund or replacement.

I personally would not be happy experiencing this issue and for the price would not accept it either. This doesnt get 5 stars simply due to care required for a TV and potential risk that comes with this technology.

I would also recommend getting an extended warranty for this TV. UPDATE. A few months after I wrote this review i experienced heavy banding, under warranty i received a brand new CX which i have now had for almost a year with no troubles.

LG customer service were really supportive and helpful as they understand this can happen with new technology and gave me peace of mind throughout the process and returned me a new CX as fast as they could.

I cannot speak for others however i do know that many people have had good experience with LG customer service regarding the CX.

It almost been a year since I had this tv. Bought it brand new. The picture quality is fantastic but I noticed it’s operations where difficult to use. Firstly you have to have cable otherwise when you turn it on it’s completely VERY loud static.

If you don’t you would have to research to find a feature in the settings to put a screen saver as a starting point. For a brand new tv in this day in age, I find it dumb to ever start that way, you know everyone streams everything.

Secondly, it’s not customizable at all. There really isn’t a point to have settings. It has programed setting that is one or another and the differences are very little or complete opposite (ex. Dark or bright; hd dark or hd bright) I wish you were able to choose an option and adjust the brightness like all other tvs.

I mean even tvs 90’s had those features. Then I started to have real problems. Because it is a smart tv it wants to do things for you but in my tvs case it thinks I should switch to hdmi when nothing is plugged in.

I could be watching a show on Netflix and then the screen pauses and goes to hdmi 1 with the screen saver on because nothing is connected to it. and if you don’t have the screen saver it would be the VERY loud static (it scared me, my girlfriend and her cats half to death, poor critters sprinted into the next room hiding under the bed).

I spoke with lg a few times about this issue. I had technician come out and install a brand new motherboard, problem wasn’t fixed. He came out a second time and the problem wasn’t fixed. I called them again, frustrated, and they said they would have to order the motherboard again, but it’s on back order and they don’t know when it is coming.

So I asked for my refund and they said they need 3 visits from a technician to before they believe me that there is something wrong with the tv. I sent them videos of it happening and nothing, waiting for a part that is on back order that has already been replaced.

I also had to have the entire panel(screen) replaced because there was a line through it.

Living in a small studio flat and using my TV as both computer monitor and TV I needed a sub 50″ screen size and the best quality image possible. Also essential to me were 4 HDMI inputs and optical sound output to my high end audio system.

Quality and not price was my main criteria as I spend hours each day working on my computer and in the evening relaxing and watching the TV or a movie. My eyes are more valuable to me than saving a few hundred pounds on the cost of a TV set! I seriously considered the Samsung Frame, Sony Bravia and Philips Ambilight 43″ models but none of these sport the OLED technology which in my opinion renders them inherently inferior.

Fortunately this LG OLED48CX5LC obviously does and by packing the same number of individually lit pixels into a smaller screen size at the same 3840×2160 resolution means the definition at my viewing distance is substantially better than their 55″ version whilst the feature set is otherwise identical.

Whether making the price of their 48″ several hundred pounds more than the 55″ version can be justified on this basis I somewhat doubt. I suspect it has more to do with the fact that they have you over a barrel if you want a “smaller” TV with an OLED screen.

But as in all things you get what you pay for and quality costs! Having had the TV for just under a week now I am unable to comment on reliability as only time will tell, but what I can say is that I am delighted with the image quality achieved from all input sources.

It is easy to see why What Hi-Fi and others have awarded such glowing reviews to this TV. The most obvious immediate thing is the fact that, courtesy of that OLED technology, at last black is truly inky black and white is pure white.

This may sound a bit daft but having now seen for myself the difference this makes to the whole rendition and perceived colour pallet, I could never go back to a non OLED screen unless absolutely forced to do so.

Also, unlike my previous TV which was an (at the time) high end back lit LED Samsung, this TV was basically picture perfect out of the box with no need to fiddle with numerous screen settings in order to achieve an optimum display.

It was a pleasant surprise to discover that NVidia’s G-Sync is supported which will make occasional game playing on my computer all the more enjoyable. Although I am surprised, and rather disappointed, that LG don’t currently (9/4/21) offer Windows 10 drivers for download from their support site and with the GeForce 1050Ti graphics card in my computer I am currently obliged to run at a 60Hz refresh rate to avoid annoying screen flicker.

Hopefully LG will address this anomaly in the near future. It was also rather irritating to be confronted with several different “manufacturer’s warranty registration” phone numbers, one stuck on the screen protection film and others on the numerous bits of paper encouraging me to register my product.

These lead not to LG but a third party well known “insurance” company who delight in ripping off the innocent by extracting monthly premiums. Not necessary thanks due to Richers excellent 6 year warranty! Equally galling to be told that the “Guarantee Confirmation Code” you are instructed to make a note of on your LG paperwork is apparently “no longer issued and redundant”.

Obviously LG were unaware of this when my TV was manufactured and put in its box three months ago! Finally trying to login at “registermylg. com” has thus far proven a completely fruitless exercise as the link to login following registration of your new account does not work.

Failure to attend to details like these are irritating but sadly not uncommon nowadays. Those things aside, what really matters is that when it comes to the actual product the LG OLED technology is an absolute winner and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this TV.

Despite the premium price it is a genuinely premium product and worth every penny!.

The optimism might be blown out of proportion because Im coming from a 15 year old plasma. The picture quality is great from its native apps (it included AppleTV, Netflix, etc) in which could be downloaded from google play.

As always, picture quality always depends from the source. Since my source is from within the hardware, it produced quality picture. Set up is easy. If youre already used to google/android configuration, this will be cake.

Sound is ok, but most buyers nowadays always opt for a sound system. I havent tried eARC yet since I dont have one. Do a search on that topic since a lot of people have issues with it. Outside of that, no complaints from me.

We were looking for a larger screen TV for our Media room (we were replacing a 10-year-old 45″ Sony Bravia which continues to work beautifully). The salesperson did a great job explaining the advantages of Sony’s 4K OLED screen and the Android OS.

WE have this tv paired up with a Denon 7. 1 channel sound system, so really not taking advantage of the TV speakers. The 77-inch screen is large but is a great fit for our room and creates a movie theatre experience.

We really appreciate the vibrant colour on this TV and specifically how well it handles the black portions of images, creating crisp black space when needed. The Android OS is remarkably user friendly to navigate, and the TV remote well thought out, making it easy to get to the most frequently used apps, such as NetFlix, Youtube and Disney+.

The number of apps available for this TV has surpassed our expectations. We have Rogers ignite services but prefer to watch these apps directly from the TV to take full advantage of the 4K resolution.

Making us reconsider if we really need the Rogers services for this room. 🙂 The only thing we did not consider when I purchased this TV was that with the latest HDCP standards the Denon receiver cannot feed the TV HDMI directly, since the older spec is is not compatible with the TV.

As a result, we are using the digital optical link from the TV to the receiver for sound. We will likely need to upgrade the receiver at some point if we want it to have multiple HDMI sources switched through the receiver.

Not a problem for now. All in all, we love this TV. Would have no problem recommending this to others.

Let me start by saying that I’m an OLED guy. I bought my first OLED 3 years back after my then 4 year old Samsung plasma TV had screen issues. After doing lot of online research and in-store comparisons, I just couldn’t go with the LED/QLED TVs.

So I went ahead and bought a 65″ LG C7 and I couldn’t be happier with my experience. After that we bought a house and I started to feel the need to have a TV in the bedroom. Also the living room was demanding a size increase.

I finally went ahead with this gorgeous Sony 77″ set after debating over the choice with LG CX. Couple of reasons I went ahead with Sony: 1. Image processing: seeing them in-store, I felt the Sony picture somewhat looked better than the LG given it’s better image processing.

2. Android TV: I loved the LG’s webOS and magic mouse initially but have grown out of it now. I almost don’t like to use that bulky remote anymore. The apps video quality is also not the same as I see from the Apple TV.

While all this would be irrelevant if I got another Apple TV but regardless I wanted to see what Sony had to offer. I’m pleased the experience has been really good so far. 3. Just wanted to try a new OLED brand.

Not to mention, I never owned a Sony TV that I have so admired as a TV brand since childhood. 4. I don’t game, like at all. So the lack of VRR and lag factor didn’t bother me. I wanted a TV that’s amazing for Movies.

5. The ability to use the TV speakers as center speakers is novel. I have a MartinLogan 4. 1 setup and I wanted to add the center but it’s a little tricky to find right placement with my stone wall above fireplace.

So even though this is last year’s model compared to LG’s, I pulled the trigger on this one and I couldn’t be happier. #sweepstake.

I like the pic and size for my room. I wish the Bluetooth would automatically connect to a non LG product, but it will not. Frustrating… The dark mode is not very dark. I have Charter Spectrum cable and the cable pics do not look that great using an HDMI ARC cable.

Internet pics are great. The magic remote is pretty handy, but sometimes does not work in the first try. Color on presets is really nice. I also wish the EQ would work with a non LG Bluetooth speaker but it does not.

Seems like a forced way to make you by an LG Bluetooth speaker. I would do that if any of the LG speakers sounded decent, but all that I have listened to sound like they came form Walmart, and sound terrible, plastic like, shallow, and muted.

Surely they could make a better sounding speaker, or at least make other brands compatible with all of the audio features on the television.

This is my second LG TV in last 4 yrs, I am having an 55 Inch TV bought in 2019. Wanted to upgrade got this LG NANO 65 inch. Arrived in time, nicely packed. Easy assembling. Need two people to hold, its light weight but due to dimension better hold by two people.

Out of the box I am impressed with picture quality. Have tone of setup options but for me standard just works fine. HDMI Arc works fine with my AV receiver. 4k contents have better visual punch than my 55inch so overall this is great upgrade.

TV sound is good too, surround sound effect is good but I am using my receiver and external speakers so cant compare that. Connectivity over HDMIs are great, I am using just one for HDMI ARC to my receiver.

ARC controls works fine, detects input and send signal to my receiver to change input. Picture is good firm side too, blacks are well managed. Vivid picture type adds lots of vibrance to the colors but not to my taste.

Very good buy.

Samsung is getting a complex over pricing – trying to compete or beat Sony on their high prices. and not usually justified. Seeing as how this is on a big sale for Black Friday, it became an option for me.

I’m using the 43″ as a computer monitor, just using the TV options occasionally. From that perspective, it makes a good monitor and does run 4K @ 60 Hz and supports proper 4:4:4 chroma (so text is clear).

The smart features seem good and it has bluetooth built-in. I like the VA panel as it really shows black the way it should be done – I don’t miss having local dimming on this (my other TV is a Sony X900e with local dimming).

The VA panel makes a big difference in contrast and I won’t go back to IPS now. On the negative side, I don’t like the Tizen OS – every time you want to change picture settings, you have to go to the home menu, hit “left” 5 times just to get to the settings – and then go through all the options from there.

And there are plenty that aren’t explained very well – the manual just tells you where they are, not what they do. Luckily, I research this stuff and figured it out but it’s way over-complicated where it really doesn’t need to be.

I think I preferred the Roku TVs – and I did try a much cheaper Hisense VA panel Roku TV – and it was 98% as good as this one – many things were better in my opinion. The only issue was I couldn’t get it to run at 60 Hz as a computer monitor (only ran at 30 Hz) so I returned it.

If you don’t need that option, I think the Hisense Roku TVs are just as good – and I’m really picky! Hisense seems to be brighter than TCL generally. I really, really don’t like that you cannot change any of the video settings when using a computer input or some game consoles, etc.

You are limited to “normal” and “dynamic” modes where you can set brightness, contrast and sharpness. But nothing else. no color settings whatsoever. The default modes for a computer screen are very cold (probably around 9000K) and you can’t change it to a warm setting.

that makes no sense at all! I agree with the other review – there should be an analog output jack. I need to get an adapter now before I can plug it into my computer speakers. Overall, the blacks are good.

the greys are not so good – not very uniform. There is a big of a screen door effect when you are up close. The HDR doesn’t really exist on any of these mid-range TVs. The brightness levels do not change AT ALL going into HDR mode.

some of them are even darker and worse so don’t buy it for HDR – you won’t be satisfied. The Sony X800 and Q60T might be very slightly noticeably better in HDR but you need to double your spend to get anything with reasonable HDR.

If you’re looking for an okay 4K TV with lots of smart features, then this one is okay – if you get it on sale.

I’ve had the Samsung TU8000 (43″) for almost two months now and the initial signs are positive. The delivery was on time & the couriers handled the television with care. The packaging was undamaged and everything in the box was in good condition.

Setting up the TU8000 was fairly straightforward & although it took me a little while to get used to the gulf in size from my last TV to this one (I previously had a 22″), I noticed a huge difference in quality.

If the source is 4K, the TV will showcase the crisp & rich details of the video. Even material which is 1080p is upscaled very well for a TV around this price point. There are so many applications which you can download and that’s one of many factors which were appealing to me.

This is a good television for gaming despite the fact that it doesn’t support HDMI 2. 1 but games run smoothly at 60fps nonetheless. I’d recommend using gaming mode (but not gaming mode plus) otherwise the response time is lackluster.

I was rather surprised at the sound quality which was much better than I expected. Although it’s not perfect, the quality is very good considering the price of the set. It comes with two remotes and although it can be quite clunky at times to navigate through the menus, they are responsive and easy to use.

Connecting the TV to an aerial is simple and I like the gallery function which tends to be reserved for the more expensive Samsung TVs. A few problems I have with this model is the excessive backlight on the top right hand corner of the screen.

I noticed it for the first time when watching Disney+ and Netflix content in a dark room and I haven’t been able to solve this problem yet. Another issue I had was a chiming sound from the television which is apparent when you’re close to the screen.

I solved this by disconnecting the PS4 cable when the console is not in use. I searched for months before buying a new television and I’m happy with the decision I made. Despite a few flaws, the exceptional image quality, good sound, responsive controls and the versatility of this model make the Samsung TU8000 a great purchase.

First 4k (after trying series 7 but I wanted 3 HDMI inputs). Not much in 4k to play but many blu-rays, DVD’s, over-the-air 1080i or 720 broadcasts to watch. When using TV audio, it can pop real loud as I adjust level (like an electric shock sound).

When viewing many (Sony S3700 player) blu-ray programs and DVD’s, video can jitter (like drop framing appears during some syndicated programs on MeTV or TV Land) – not smooth motion / regular drop frame like action about every 10 seconds or so (from the video processing of this unit?).

Push a menu on exterior box (cable or Tivo box) and the menu is distorted across the screen a few seconds (like I startled it and made it jump on the screen). Also, audio disappears when scenes change (or black between programs and commercials).

I decided to hook up a (HDMI Switch 4K HDMI Splitter-Techole Aluminum Bi-Directional HDMI Switcher 2 Input 1 Output) splitter with high end HDMI cords as I wanted another HDMI connection with a Roku, and it doesn’t seem to change the behavior of the unit.

And now I have a 4k player (Sony X700) hooked up to this TV and notice especially 7. 1 audio playback can cause total silence for a second at times during playback, but when I rewind the disc to replay the scene, the audio is fine.

To me, either this is one screwed up TV or mine has some serious issues and needs replacement (purchased in Nov 2020 and all the problems were noticed one after another in the 6 months I’ve had it). We purchased a 40 inch Samsung Series 5 N5200 1080 HD TV a few months ago and don’t have any of these issues, and really hate this 50 inch 4k Samsung Series 8 TV.

I really wish I could get a standard 50 inch Samsung HD TV like we had before and I fear I’m stuck with this problem child. Samsung needs to clean up its act.

I recently purchased the LG OLED 77C2 and have been absolutely amazed by the quality and, surprisingly, the simplicity of the TV. This is definitely a TV that I would recommend to anyone and everyone.

Having previously come from a flagship 4K HDR TV that utilised Quantum Dot LED with full-array local dimming, I was hoping and expecting to see a higher quality, more detailed, image when it came to dark scenes containing lots of finer details.

I was not disappointed. The amount of visible detail in the darkest scenes is astonishing. No more blooming/halo effect. It’s not just dark scenes where this TV shines, with bright, colourful scenes looking just as spectacular, thanks to the new improvements that introduced in this years model.

While it doesn’t compete with the eye watering brightness of some LED TVs. It gets more than bright enough, especially if you can control the lighting levels of the room you’re watching it in. The overall use of the TV has possibly been the best experience I’ve had with a TV yet.

For the most part everything has just worked (except a few minor items). Connecting a different brand Atmos soundbar worked simply by connecting it via HDMI, the XBox Series X is able to connect with Dolby Vision and ATMOS.

The standard apps are all installed and ready to go. Cinema mode and auto film maker mode provide a pretty good picture quality out of the box (even better after a few tweaks). The TV has been able to handle the 4K 120Hz thrown at it by the Xbox Series X without a struggle.

Automatically switching over to game mode, reducing input lag, enabling vrr, and tweaking the graphics slightly, that and the nice large 77 inches, makes gaming a real engaging and pleasurable experience.

One of the things I think that could be improved is the remote. It’s a bit of an outdated, oversized, overcomplicated, cheap feeling bit of plastic. I do like that it is a magic remote, and jumping between apps using the dedicated buttons makes switching between apps fast (incredibly fast).

However, it just seems like, at this price point, it could be a bit more refined with and possibly with a metal finish. Not everything has been flawless with the TV, but so far I have been able to find a way to resolve my issues with a little digging.

For example; Dobly ATMOS would not work with Netflix out of the box (all other apps were fine). To get ATMOS working with netflix, I had to disable ATMOS on the internal speakers before it worked on the soundbar.

This TV has irreversibly changed my expectations of high end display and image quality for the rest of my days. Firstly, the thin build of the panel leaves you wondering, HOW IN THE WORLD DOES THIS DO THAT!? The housing for the electronic magic that powers and holds the cutting edge processor and display technology is minimal and a provides room for enhanced buitl in audio.

The standard mounting system is a delightful sight and I did not have to drastically change my TV mounting bracket to utilize the montior mounting points for a flawless and minimal cable management install.

This unit is by far the most immersive, the clearest, the darkest, the brightest, the smoothest, the crispest, the standard setting model of TV I have ever had the pleasure of owning. Snappy smart features, battle ready for the PS5 console, entertainment loaded and packs genius level integration with out existing IoT home device network.

Do not miss out on this unit. You will absolutley regret buying the very TV that as a child you wished that one day, when you walked through the store to see the brightest and biggest TV that you have ever seen and you vowed that one day it would be yours.

This was my childhood tech store endcap display TV dream and those expectations were COMPELTELY shattered when reality proved to be so much sweeter. A huge thank you to LG for developing and making possible all the features and quality that this unit delivers.

For having given me the opportunity to be one of the reviewers for this campaign, I would like to thank The Insiders Team. One of the reasons I chose OLED is because I heard so much about it, also the TV I replaced was already a decent Full-Array and now I actually have the chance to see the LG Evo OLED for myself in the comfort of my own living room and also enjoy any improvements from the previous unit.

Being the latest model, I have high expectations but I will also be critical if I feel it isn’t up to par. The first thing I noticed was how light it is for its size. Taking a look at the specifications, it is almost 6 kilograms lighter than the C1, at 20.

8 kilograms vs. 26. 7 kilograms. LG uses the in-house WebOS for the software. Although navigating around is responsive nothing beats the simpler Android OS. But it does have Google Assistant and Alexa.

First thing first, the picture quality is just superb. There’s no simple way to describe it. I have never seen a TV that looks so good. I have never seen a flat-screen TV with more beautiful colours and I have owned many since 2005.

The black is so dark and the contrast really stands out with the C2. It is still bright even when set to ‘Standard’. Watching films with a lot of dark scenes like ‘The Expanse’ and The Carnival is just awesome.

It’s eye candy everywhere. All the details are clear. The TV supports Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HLG so it adapts very well to any movies that are encoded with any one of those. There are plenty of picture modes to satisfy even the most demanding viewers.

Motion movement is very smooth as I would have expected. I have no trouble watching content from the USB drive connected to the TV. It works flawlessly. One of the things with LG, the remote isn’t intuitive as I would have liked which is a little disappointing considering the price tag.

I myself have owned a few LGs since 2005. In the dark, it’s very easy to press the wrong button with the most used buttons like changing the volume or channel. They could add a backlight to alleviate this issue or re-arrange the buttons.

The C2 also supports the now mandatory Dolby Atmos for sound, which is fantastic. The built-in speaker isn’t much to talk about. But when you connect it to a soundbar that supports the feature, the sound comes alive.

The connections are all HDMI 2. 1 with Variable Refresh Rate or VRR for the gamers. One of the HDMI slots is eARC/ARC. This will allow me to connect to Xbox or PS5 in the future.

Given the price point this is a good replacement tv for use in the conservatory. The appearance is good and I thike the thin bezel compared to the Sony it replaced. It was easy to set up and get all my kit connected.

I do find the picture quality a bit different to my old Sony. I think that the difference in contrast especially on scenes where this is darkness takes some getting used to. Anything in a shadow looks too dark.

I’ve put the picture on dynamic. On ordinary sd broadcast the picture looks poor, but on HD broadcast the picture is very clear and vibrant (given the contrast issue). I was very pleased to see a satellite connector.

I have looped through from my Satellite box (Technomate) which controls a motorised dish. The TV can use diseqc 1. 2, but the software is not really up to scratch. Re scanning does appear to ove the dish and (very) slowy scan, but then it does some kind of resort and I do NOT get all the channels.

For instance on scanning Astra 28. 2 it should get BBC etc, but it is not picking them up. What is worse is that even though I save a channel on one satellite to Favourites, when I attempt to use that Favourite it is not moving the dish back to that satellite.

Also it seems that the scan process can lose favourites and previously scanned satellites. The manual scan of a particular channel does not work (e. g. France 24). Of course it doesn’t help that there is no proper technical manual available, though I have found a useful one for a different model on an Australian satellite web site!!! If I do get a channel such as Al Jazeera HD it is has a better lock on the channel than my Sat box, It’s a pity the software seems so flaky.

However I have a Sat box so I’ve not lost anything. Note that my One for all programmable remote could not learn the codes for buttons on the tv remote, though I did manage to get it to duplicate most functions (just not the back button!).

The facility to re-order favourites is one of the best I’ve used and there are some horrors out there. Nearly as good, perhaps better, than the Microsoft Media Centre. However getting the EPG to look at the correct favourite is not easy – you have to change it on the TV List first AND select an actual station, then switch to the EPG list.

Overall, for the price this is a good effort and I’m not unhappy with my purchase, I just wish the software, especially for the Satellite input was better.

Firstly the picture. if you tweak the settings in normal mode to test, you will find what works and what doesn’t. 1 – Screen has the deepest black lvls I’ve seen. But do mix and match. In my normal setting i went for 50 brightness, 50 contrast and 45 colour saturation with 0 – 5 sharpness as it’s clear enough in 1080p – 4k.

Some settings decieve which force the picture to flicker in multiple frames. Culprits are Adaptive brightness and backlight (Active Dimming) so turn these off or just utilise Auto Lght Sensor for a consistent dim.

Can be adjusted. And don’t turn on motion smoothing unless you like the Soap Opera Effect during movie night. It’s fine otherwise. I tend to use movie modes, for day i use the settings i won’t notice as much like Film motion smoothing and medium Adaptive brightness.

I don’t use any effects that add crushed blacks (Adaptive again) in night Movie Mode. lastly don’t mess with white balance, it only adds a bright hue behind the picture. Yes it removes reds ok fine, but i fine tuned it and it really made my eyes strain.

Reset and looked fine still. 2 – gaming modes. I notice the clearest picture in 30fps using Game Mode and is especially decent 4k 60. There’s also ALLM but that’s for input lag and solely for online modes.

3 – sound is crisp without soundbar (it’s in a small bedroom so the acoustics will vary) i go custom with my frequencies but Theater mode is perfect for everything. There’s also late night mode, shh mum n dad are.

4 – plenty of options available but I disable anything that asks for my data. You can opt out unlike other brands i read about (ahem TCL) So all your top apps are there. 5 – just found out while writing, there’s static 4k pics that autoplay if you stare at a black screen long, enough then auto turns off.

Saving leccy there.

Very happy with my purchase, the display quality is just so much better than my previous TV. The colours are more vibrant and the screen is brighter than the other (with both set to dynamic). Because the stand is in the middle instead of having 1 on each end, means I can place the TV on the same small TV unit that I’ve always had, but this also means I need to have my soundbar further away from the TV than I’d like it to be.

The only downgrade I’ve made is the amount of HDMI ports down from 4 to 3. Still enough ports because the fact that the built in apps are lag free and very responsive eliminates the need for me to use my old streaming stick.

I would like to see the Disney+ app on this TV at some point as I feel that’s the only thing missing now and I’m having to use my game console for this. All in all, this is the perfect TV for me, it’s a huge upgrade from my old one (in features, not size) I don’t need anything bigger than a 55.

The smooth motion works slightly better on the built in apps than it does on external input devices. Smooth motion is a controversial feature in TVs and divides people in opinion. Some like to have it on and others like it off.

There is an option to turn it off completely. There’s a game mode for consoles which lowers the input lag to 1ms for better gaming, but this turns smooth motion off and doesn’t allow you to turn it on.
