10 Best 4L60E Performance Rebuild Kit (2022 Updated)

All the parts are quality and you need to pay attention. There are some seals that won’t be used depending on your application. After measuring my installed clutch pack for the 2-4 unit, I needed to remove a steel and friction to meet the spec.

No big. The steels are thinner so you can use more frictions. Careful with the Teflon seals.

I bought this to do a rebuild on a 4L60E out of a Camaro to flip. Shipped in super quick! Loved the kevlar Infused frictions and band. I had some fitment issues with some of my steels so I had to reuse some of the old ones and I couldn’t use all the frictions, but that is true to any kit like this.

Overall a really solid kit that I might use again for a build like this.

The kit is as-advertised. I only wish it could have come with the set came with the bonded seal pistons, but it is good value and quick shipping.

Just finished using this kit to rebuild my TH350 trans that had burnt up 1st rev clutches on my drag race vette. Kit is complete except no bushings or thrush washers, bearings. instruction were good but pictures where black and white not really good enough to see.

buy your self a book and video it will make it a lot easier for 1st timers. had to punch two holes out on the gaskets they didn’t tell how to do that use a small piece of metal tubing the same size of the hole.

had all the seals and gaskets, steels and clutches needed very complete kit minus the thrush washers and bushings.

I have purchased & installed literally dozens of B&M overhaul kits & shift kits and swear by their quality components and excellent results. with the addition of the shift kit components and clear, easy to follow instructions, this Transkit made the process that much more convenient.

I found many of the illustrations to be poor quality like they have been recopied too many times, but otherwise I would highly recommend this product to anyone doing a performance rebuild.

The seals, steels, and the fibers were great quality. The pictures in the instructions manual were poor though. Everything worked out well just had to purchase the bushings and pump pistons separately.

Will purchase this product again.

I installed the shiftplus about a month ago. Very easy to install and works amazing. I put 32×11. 50 tires on my 07 colorado 3. 7L. It struggled to shift. Now, with the shiftplus installed, running it on the first stage, even with my work equipment in back and it shifts better than when I had the stock tires and no shiftplus.

this will change your line pressure, using resisters to cause a voltage drop in the circuit. At low loads and part throttle you will feel a nice hard shift. Keep in mind at wide open throttle the factory PCM will also command full line pressure.

So you will feel nothing more at WOT, only at low loads when the PCM is commanding low line pressure due to the fact high line pressure is not needed low loads.

installation was very easy. i did it at the trans end. 1972 monte carlo with 1995 lt1 with 4l60e. only drove it 3-4 times. cant really tell the difference. i want to see a difference but honestly dont see it.

maybe i did something wrong. would not recommend it at this point. maybe i got a bad unit?.

Very good manual for the person that is going to rebuild a 4L60E auto trans. Very detained with lots of pictures.

Your black and white pictures on manila paper are barely legible. I have rebuilt many transmissions auto and manual. the step by step instruction skipped a step here and there.

This can easily be replaced when changing your trans filter, easy to get to without further disassembly. Makes a noticeable difference in shifting and gear holding. Stops slippage in 4th gear lockup, and unnecessary lockup on/off driving on the highway.

Cured my tach floating up and down 200-300 rpm on the highway. Easiest mod you can make – takes just 10 mins with a smal pair of snap ring pliers and a long screwdriver. Try it!.

When you get the instructions, it clearly states it replces both long and short valves. It has an included illustration showing how to assemble the parts. AT NO POINT IN THE INSTRUCTIONS DO THEY MENTION YOU NEED TO COMPARE THE LENGTHS OF THE OLD ASSEMBLY TO THE NEW VALVE!!! A SPACER WASHER, SHOWN IN THE PRECISE ILLUSTRATION MAY NOT BE NEEDED!!! Be cautious and measure the valve you have and make the assembly measure the same length.

What a great price for a great product. Nice machined aluminum sleeve, and a quality large bore steel valve. The steel is so much more durable and the design keeps the valve from wearing out the sleeve.

Sonnax makes great upgrade components for a lot of transmissions and this Smar Shell is one example of strengthening the vulnerability of the 4L60e. It spreads the load better thus helps transfer the power better while creating less drag with the bearing over the plastic washer.

I got better load distribution and the Shell spun freely without wobbling like on the plastic washer. I was definitely impressed with the new design. I’m sure this will help handle the loads I pull.

I installed this in my 700r4. The dimensions are very close to the OE shell I pulled out of my trans. This is a superior part compared to other HD shells out there. I tired another HD shell before this one and it did not work causing me to have to disassemble my transmission a second time.

Top quality part. Industry standard. Exactly what I expected.

install is pretty straight forward, follow the numbered steps omitting the steps you will not be using. verify each step after completion. keep old parts(springs) seperated from new ones as they can look identical.

i used one accumulator washer. i would advise installing the blue spring in the servo to ease second and strengthen third shift. i am running stock pressures and. 2 second shift timing for a 2002 yukon.

drove the car approximately 500 miles under normal conditions to test for possible problems and had none yet. 1800 miles on the transmission now. 1-2 shift is firm unless very low throttle. 2-3 shift is firm above low throttle, 3-4 is noticable.

lockup is noticable in fourth (set for lockup in 4th only). tested at 50-60% throttle, 1-2 shift is a hard bark, 2-3 shift is solid but doesnt break traction, 3-4 is slightly stronger than low throttle.

i am completely satisfied with the hd2. transgo has an excellent phone support.

Was having problems with my 4L60E transmission shifting from 3rd to 4th gear. Talked with Summit support to verify the kit. Got excellent support from their team so I purchased the kit and rebuilt the valve body, I also purchased and wiring harness and solenoid kit and installed it as well along with Royal Purple trans fluid.

The valve body kit was easy to install and once put back together and back on the ground the truck runs amazingly well. Shifts feel strong and positive and downshifting to any gear is possible. I recommend this kit to anyone having shift problems with this transmission.

Installed this kit in my 02 WS6. Saw countless forums stating to use the full race setting due to the Torque Management in the computer. Glad I did because now it shifts like a true sports car. The trans still shifts smoothly but so much quicker than factory without snapping your neck.

I have a B&M kit in my 95 Z28 and it’s an extremely hard 1-2 shift regardless of throttle/acceleration. Pleased and VERY happy with this kit. Thank you Summit for getting this to me the day after ordering! If you have a 4L60/E trans, GET THIS KIT!!!.

Got this to replace the 4l60 I blew in my Silverado. It arrived poorly packaged (it poked through the flimsy box it was packaged in), but I figured whatever, it didn’t have any damage. Im happy it comes fully assembled with electronics and all, it made install smooth, paired the trans with a new oem torque converter.

Started it up and it ran great until it hit the highway. After that it got a p1870 code. I plan to replace the valve body since I have a new fully assembled one in my garage. Hopefully that does the trick.

Ive also noticed trans fluid seeping slowly out of the bellhousing access hole/dust cover. Should have bought a rebuild kit and rebuilt my existing 4l60, overall disappointed with this product for apparently being dyno tested and built to last.

They should also package this MUCH better. The box it came in was a joke. Price is pretty average, but should reflect a product that won’t have problems out of the box. Time to sort out this p1870.

Bought this 2 months ago. Came to my door tested and ready to go all but full of fluid installed topped off fluid and went straight to work 9hr away with a 7×12 inclosed trailer 15000 miles now with 99% of them being hooked to the trailer never a stumble slip nothing absolutely perfect will definitely be buying another for for my other truck.

I had a shop rebuild my stock transmission to be a “performance” transmission. $3200 later and i was still burning up 3/4 clutches. I was in a pinch and decided to order a trans in a box and jegs had the best price plus no core charge.

I received the transmission on time and went in without a hitch. This trans is quick shifting, very responsive, and has great positive shifts. Perfect for my cammed 5. 3. As long as the longevity of the transmission is good then I’ll be more than happy!!.

Came with everything shown, directions, torque specs and tool list. Last piece I needed to complete my LS swap to an older 4l80, now the engine is fully secured to the bell housing and I’m no longer nervous about pulling a load with the truck.

Bonus i now have an extra set of bell housing and torque converter bolts.

This is the GM 19332784 kit, with the 15765623 cast aluminum flex plate/torque convertor cover with four galvanized bolts to bolt it to the 4L80e trans and six grade 8 bolts to bolt on the bell housing to the engine.

I used mine for a 350 gen one SBC. I have a small diameter starter installed and it bolted right up. When the price was reduced from $187 to $113 in Nov of 2020 it sealed the deal.

I needed this for my 2000 chevy suburban which I recently installed a 4l80e transmission and newer 2005 5.3 engine. Came with simple instructions and extra bolts.
