20 Best 500 Watt Power Supply (2022 Updated)

I knew when buying this that its super basic but it gets the job done for a low price. Cable management will be a pain, only 2 8-pin cables, way more molex than anyone needs in modern PC building and not the best efficiency but if you know what youre getting and have a use case for it, this wont disappoint you.

I needed this purely for troubleshooting a friends broken PC, i didnt have a spare PSU around and this one had enough watts that would be sufficient for his build while i confirmed his old PSU had died.

If you are building something you want to be proud of and show off, i would look for something with more modularity and better efficiency. But if you, like me, needed something cheap and readily available for something like troubleshooting/auxillary power/emergency replacement etc, this will do the job just fine.

Size: For the average user, this is an excellent power supply. It’s compact compared to most power supplies, so stuffing extra cabling in behind it will be easy. For cases that have a PCIE power cable slot straight under the GPU, you will easily be able to access it.

Noise: Stay at 2/3 the rating for your total system and you’ll be fine. This is for a midrange build like a 3060 Ti and a 5600X or 11400. Efficiency: You shouldn’t get this if you will have your PC on continuously.

It isn’t 80 plus rated. Unless you need extra heat in the room, go for something 80 plus Gold if you continuously run your PC.

I bought a zotac rtx 3080 trinity oc thinking it’s a power hungry GPU and that I will need 1000 watts psu. Well wrong I did an online watts calculator and with Asus Tuf x570 plus (wifi) motherboard & Ryzen 5 5600X 6 cores and 12 threads and all total was 506 watts.

So don’t listen to websites making you buy a huge PSU, So I have 200 extra watts for adding other hardware in the future dude. Companies pay to recommend their products. Thermaltake simply was the cheapest option for my build without breaking the bank and does the job perfectly fine.

This power supply quiet, Cool and never makes loud sounds.

I purchased my first Thermaltake TR2 500W back in 2015. It worked great but started sounding like a leaf blower a couple years back – the fan was wearing out. I finally just replaced it with a brand new one and it’s super silent.

I forgot how quiet my PC was! So much better. shipping only took a few days. For reference, today’s date is January 27, 2022.

This PSU is rated at 600w but when putting a single Sapphire Radeon RX 570 Nitro+ on it, at factory clocks(no overclocking whatsoever!) This PSU completely shuts down and cannot deliver the power needed to run that video card at “out-of-the-box settings”.

I am VERY disappointed with this item as the video card manufacturer says the card can run on a 500w PSU so this PSU SHOULD HAVE been more than enough. It simply is not, or, it has very cheap components and cannot handle it.

When I bought this PSU it was to replace a PSU that was not maintained properly. I HAVE, taken VERY good care of this PSU and made sure it is dust-free so that it would last and I wouldn’t have to buy another for some time.

I would avoid this PSU and get an EVGA “GOLD” or better PSU if you plan on putting it in a gaming machine running today’s hi-end graphics cards which NEED good solid, clean power. This simply does NOT deliver that! 600w SHOULD be able to run my card.

This thing will NOT! As soon as the PSU is put under a load(3D benchmark or a game) It completely shuts down the PSU. Not fun. Bleh.

The fan. Oh my oh my, the fan. My case has a dust filter for the PSU fan, which requires the power supply to be mounted with the fan down (so as to draw air from outside the case through the filter), which is fine and dandy.

I left it in this configuration for months until my computer began making this horrific whining noise that for the life of me I could not find. After troubleshooting various moving components (HDD, various case, CPU and GPU fans) I found out that it was this power supply.

Apparently, having the fan pointing downwards causes the fan to pull down on its sleeve bearing, causing a horrific ruckus. Once oriented so that the fan is upwards (pulling air from inside the case), the noise went away, but is murder on my temperatures as the PSU and GPU fight each other for air.

Given that the “Intelligent 120mm Cooling Fan” is touted as such a wonderful feature in the item description, I’d imagine that they’d try to make it last a little bit longer. Although it does have a 5 year limited warranty, I don’t think a replacement would really help resolve this issue as other reviewers have mentioned the fan making obnoxious sounds as well.

Other than that, it has always been a stable power supply and has fulfilled its purpose for months, but given that it requires being oriented a specific way or else it’ll sound like a 3 year old throwing a tantrum, I’ll be moving on to another, quieter power solution in the future that doesn’t impair my airflow.

This is probably one the best power supplies you could get for the price feature-wise. This does has some compromises, though. A small issue I had was that the 24 pin motherboard connection didnt look like it went all the way in and I didnt hear a click when putting it.

It still worked nonetheless, it was just off by millimeters. The other very small issue is that the cables fray a bit due to the material but it shouldnt bother you unless youre handling this PSU often.

If you plan on buying extension cables, then both of these problems will practically be solved with them.

I would recommend this PSU for any basic build using only one GPU with no intention for overclocking. My units are silent (building 2 identical PCs for twin siblings) On the plus side this unit is semi-modular which is great for the price.

On the down side it is only semi-modular, but one shouldn’t expect much more from a relatively inexpensive bronze rated PSU. Lost one egg for the awkward SATA power cables (backwards from my NEX750B from EVGA).

This is an amazing power supply that is super-small. I originally thought it was an SFX unit upon opening it. This powers a Ryzen 5 3600 build with a RTX 2070 super flawlessly. I have a stable all core clock of 4.

2Ghz on the CPU and a stable 2010Mhz clock @ 980mv on the GPU. This power supply replaced a Thermaltake unit and I couldn’t be happier.

I probably wouldn’t recommend this product. It’s really a shame because I’ve been buying EVGA products for quite some time now. Over the last couple years both my recently purchased EVGA products failed after a short time.

I most likely will try another brand for my next purchase.

100% highest quality Japanese Nippon Chemi-Con solid state capacitors. Quality where it matters most. This would be sufficient for the most demanding of setups and coming with a ten year warranty how could you go wrong.

This my second unit after toasting a lesser 900w PSU whilst rendering I decided to trust Quality over Quantity. Having a PSU like this ensures that all hungry components are given the exact required power without having to worry of under voltage issues.

I love EVGA’s overall reliability and high standards. The 120mm fan on this psu is so quiet that you may forget that this psu even has one. The downside is that sometimes there is a noticeable coil wine.

Also for $50 is a bit pricy for a 500w psu.

Its a PSU, it is semi modular, as in that aside from the connections to the motherboard itself, the accessory cabling is plugged in to use, so you only use the cables you need. The modular cables are of the flat variety, so this could be a positive or a negative, depending what your view on the differing cable configurations out there are.

One word of advice, and this goes with ANY PSU that you install, please ensure you install the PSU with the cables supplied, do NOT be tempted to reuse the cables from your old PSU (going to the various drives and accessories) if this is a replacement.

Sadly there is no set “standard” for the PSU side of the cable, unlike the drive end. If you try and re-use the installed existing cables, and the pin-out doesn’t match on the PSU end (multi-meter can confirm if you really want to know) you could fry every component you connect to this.

Even if the cable actually fits into the PSU it does not mean they are compatible by any means. Some people have come to find this out the hard way, and have thankfully shared their experience for everyone to learn (I am glad I checked before install) Installation went as you would expect, it fit my case well, is the same dimensions as the 700w supply it was replacing.

I cannot attest to the longevity of this unit yet, but will try and remember to update this in the future, once it has some hours on it. Good price, good brand and an easy install. what more can you ask?.

Yes I recommend for people who are looking for a good power supply for a budget build. HOWEVER, since it is relatively new and there aren’t many reviews, I think that there might be better options. I bought it when it was on sale for 43 no rebate, 23 without.

I submitted the rebate on the 7th of November, and it is still being processed. This won’t matter if you don’t fill it out when there is a sale with the rebate, because it happens often. I am running a overclocked rx 5600 xt, and a ryzen 5 2600x.

I’m also using sleeved cables from antec if that helps anyone.

I love Corsair products. I own a Corsair 95 Keyboard, Scimitar Mouse, CPU cooler, case, you name it. I swear by Corsair and all of the products because of the quality of products they continue to create.

With that being said, this is the only Corsair product I have ever owned that was an absolute turd. The PSU lasted 6 months until a very strong burnt plastic smell began to come out of my computer. I cleared everything out of my computer and took the parts outside for inspection, and surely enough it was the power supply.

I looked up my problem on Tom’s Hardware and there were SEVERAL people asking about burnt computers who just happen to own the CX750M power supply. It still baffles me how these things are still even around.

Corsair should pull them if they want to maintain the quality of their products. My suggestion would be to add a few extra dollars and get a gold rated Seasonic PSU. Only buy this PSU if you are fine with it lasting 6 months and possibly frying the components in your computer.

Power supplies have been around for a while and are essentially a commodity at this point. As long as you get a brand name, reputable company (which means you will be getting quality internals), you should be good to go.

That’s why I can easily recommend this power supply. It’s from one of the biggest and oldest names in the industry. It’s easy to install (which most are, depending on your case) and has been rock solid for me for admittedly just a short amount of time.

I’ve never had any issues with Cooler Master PSUs, so I have no reason to tell you to look elsewhere. Always buy a name brand power supply that you believe will be reliable based either on reviews or your personal experience.

PSUs touch every component in your system. A bad or wonky PSU can cause a lot of random issues that you’ll have an extremely hard time troubleshooting, so it’s best to avoid the possibility if you can afford to.

I struggled to find definitive answers as to whom the OEM vendor that built the MWE500 is, but several sites including a certain “guru” said it was HEC. That being said, this seems like a pretty well built unit, though I’ve never bought an HEC unit before and I never would, so I’m a bit conflicted with the MWE500.

It’s built well, it has good specs, and a great price. but Cooler Master’s PSU reputation, and the name HEC kinda dings this one a bit. If all you can get is an MWE500 or a gray label/no name, obviously get this.

However, there are quite a few PSU brands with better reputations and similar warranties for the same price, so this one’s kinda a hard sell. I hate to ding it for history/rep, but it’s really hard to recommend a product with a bad lineage.

Being a bronze certified power supply, it is obviously aimed at the budget/entry level market and Cooler Master is very competitive in this market segment. While you can definitely find cheaper power supplies, I think it is worth it to pay a little more to get something that is going to work reliably and last.

People tend to over-spec the power supply by getting more wattage than they need, but 500 Watts is plenty for the vast majority of either day to day computing, or budget gaming builds. This power supply should be acceptable for most budget to mid-level builds.

Having turned more than a few optiplex mid-towers into budget gaming and/or photoshop rigs, it’s nice that this power supply is only 5. 9 inches long and therefore fits into just about any case. Lots of power from a compact design.

Not only that, but the fan is quiet and efficient, and can clear out a lot of hot air from the case without creating a lot of noise.

TL;DR: Serviceable unit if you don’t overclock your CPU and don’t have very demanding graphics card (demanding = AMD 5600XT\NVidia 2060 or better) I got this unit about 5 months ago, during The Great PSU Shortage of 2020.

My old 2012-vintage PSU didn’t have the necessary connections to support 6\8-pin PCIE power connections, and this was pretty much all that I could get to upgrade my old gaming potato at my budget, from a reputable brand with a decent warranty.

It has worked well so far, running an i5-2400 initially, now powering a Ryzen 7 3700X. The GPU used is a Zotac GTX 1650 Super with both CPUs. I play video games at 1440p, and I haven’t noticed anything out of the ordinary, so that’s a plus.

I also don’t overclock my CPU, beyond the standard Performance Boost Overclock algorithm applied by AMD, so I haven’t gone out of my way to stress this unit. I doubt it’s intended to support any form of aggressive-ish manual overclock.

If that’s your intention, you need to go for an 80+ Bronze-rated unit at the very least. Both PSU and GPU will have to be upgraded a few months, when I have better clarity on the performance of NVidia’s Ampere and AMD’s 6000-series of upcoming GPUs.

Deducting 1 star for the ketchup-and-mustard cables that are common in this price point.

I needed a replacement power supply for a radio station PC right away, and was able to pick this up quickly from the Kansas City store. Installation was fast and easy. It has every possible connection that you might need, and the price-to-performance ratio is great.

Even though I had to buy this for an emergency, I would recommend it for anyone who needs a solid power supply at a great price. I plan to buy more to keep on hand.

My almost 9 year old PC has been having some noisy fan issues for about one year now. First I replaced the CPU fan, the noise was still there. Did a thorough pressurized air dusting of the inside of the PC cabinet and all the fan blades, still had the periodic up and down whining of the fan.

Thought I had found the noise to be coming from the power supply so after much research I determined the EVGA brand to be the best replacement option. I received this new power supply just a few weeks ago so I cannot give a long term feedback on how well it performs at this time but it seems like a very solid unit with wiring that seems to be heavy duty.

I had only ever replaced a power supply one time in the 30+ years I have owned a computer so once I got the old unit out of the case I laid it on the side of the case and proceeded to replace the connectors one at a time rather than trying to remember all of the connections from memory.

Everything went smoothly but after starting the PC back up I could not get my DVD drive to work. Seems that the power cable from the old unit had pulled off when I moved it out of it’s bracket. Hooked up the new power supply cable to it and all is well.

The unit is quiet and proving an extra 40W over my previous 460W unit but just as a note to anyone else with fan noise issues – replacing the power supply did not resolve my fan noise issues. Ultimately, after much more trying to narrow where the noise was coming from, I finally found it was a fan on the bottom of my graphics card.

I had no idea there was a fan there and there was no indication in the original configuration of the PC. So now I have a partially rebuilt PC that should last me a few more years and this new power supply will help it get those extra years.

Purchased this 450W psu to replace a 240W psu in a Dell refurb so that I could do some minor upgrades. I didn’t want anything too expensive as I am also currently building a proper, 2021 gaming rig, but needed to cover the power needs for multi monitor display, and an improved gpu.

Installation was a breeze as the psu is pretty standard size. Had the system up and running after less than 20 minutes, and with the wattage to spare, have given the old optiplex a little more time in the sun before my current build is completed.

This has been installed for about three months and have experienced no problems whatsoever. This is a great psu for an older, low-draw system.

This is a standard non-modular power supply. I prefer this to a modular supply as I cannot lose the cords I am not using at the moment. And yes, I have fallen foul of that problem. It is quiet, the exhaust air is cool on my (relatively low power) computer.

It has all the connections a home computer is likely to need – 24 pin power, 4/8 CPU power, 2*3 SATA connector, 3 MOLEX+1floppy, 2*6/8 pin video power. The motherboard, video and CPU power cables use heavy wires, but the SATA and MOLEX cables are much lighter than usual.

Since hard drives/CDs etc rarely use over 1A, should not be a problem. The cables are longer than I am used to, permitting this power supply to be mounted at the top or bottom of the case. I have seen reports that this power supply is inefficient and noisy, but that is not my experience.

I’m very happy with this 450W EVGA power supply.

I installed this in a Dell XPS 8300 PC tower. Just what I needed for a great price! I have replaced P/S’s on two other Dell PC’s. This one was the easiest. For a neat installation, I suggest you have some small wire ties on-hand for bundling excess length and unused cables, and holding cables out of the way of access to other components.

There are about a billion power supplies out there. This one isn’t fancy. Doesn’t have any pretty lights. Isn’t the most quiet but isn’t the loudest. Doesn’t have the most cable options but doesn’t have too few.

Overall this is a good, solid power supply. If it’s on your list of possibilities then do it especially if you’re just looking for a power supply that works and isn’t overly flashy but has good cable management.

My first one was DOA, but the replacement worked great. The cables are very nicely packed and come wrapped individually with Velcro.

Overall a good solid performing PSU. The black case and cables should look good in most cases. Connectors fit snugly and do not require a great deal of force to seat them. The only drawback is the SATA cables could have more distance between connectors.

If you have to flip or twist the connector to orient them to the drive connector you can run out of cable. Also the 20+4 and 4+4 connectors do not stay clipped to together very well and come apart easily making it difficult to plug them into the sockets on the mainboard.

The only real negative of this PSU is the substandard fan which must have a low quality bearing. After one week of usage the bearing would make a humming, vibrating high pitched sound for the first five to ten minutes after powering up the system.

After another week just as I was going to RMA the unit it stopped making this noise and the PSU fan was not any noisier than the case or CPU fan. However after six months the fan started making at ticking, knocking or rattling sound.

If I tilt the case or lay it on the side the rattling stops. Since the fan intake is filtered on the bottom of the case it is unlikely something fell into the PSU. If not for the fan problems I would not hesitate to recommend this PSU to any one looking for a non-modular 80+ gold PSU.

Fantastic PSU that is green and powerful. I am using for an XPC miniITX rig. It can’t handle SLI, but it can support fast modern video cards. Great fan and venting. It’s beautiful. It looks very high end and perfect with my CoolerMaster Elite 130 case.

Flawless for my Z490 motherboard.

I’m a first time pc builder so I don’t really have anything to compare this psu to but it seems fine. Haven’t had any issues. One minor annoyance however was that I had an opening in my case right next to my motherboard power slot but couldn’t use it to route the cable through because the cable felt too stiff to bend 180 degrees in such a tight space.

Maybe I could have forced it but didn’t want to take the risk.

Well, it’s cheap. For a gold PSU with a good warranty that’s saying something. That’s cool! But, I had to take it out of my system in under 5 hours. Why? Because it’s the most distracting PSU I’ve ever bought, making a noise that I can’t accept even at it’s lowest RPM.

Disappointing because of the touted “Quiet and Intelligent Auto Fan for near-silent operation” (from EVGA’s website). I’ve NEVER replaced a new part because of noise, and I’ve built many PC’s over the last 18 years.

I only heard this PSU at it’s lowest RPM, actually – but that was enough. To put the noise in perspective: This one fan on it’s own was louder than my main PC next to it, overpowering the combined noise of its 8 actively spinning fans (All fans near min RPM, though).

To be fair I wouldn’t be surprised if my PSU fan was defective. It sounded like it’s weight distribution was off, and it vibrated slightly as the fan spun; with a distracting high-ish frequency oscillating sound.

But, then again, maybe all of these units are like this? I couldn’t say. EVGA makes some great quite PSU’s, but for me this wasn’t one of them. If you need this PSU to run in a noise-sensitive environment, like me, maybe look at a different model just in case.

This one is going in the spare parts cupboard. Perhaps one day, in the far future, it can enjoy another 5 hours of use.

I got this PSU to replace my old cooler master. It works well! Supports my 3600, 6800xt and all other components without failing. Its fan is quiet as I have never heard it running. The only reason I gave it a 4 star was because it has a coil whine when under load.

I got most of it out by running UniHaven four or five times. The remaining is not noticeable if I put on my headphones even without audio, without the headphones it is a little noticeable, if that is something that may bother you it is something worth thinking about.

Other than that the cables are nice, there’s a lot more wire to use, the cables are also bendy and look nice so I don’t need to get sleeves for the GPU. I’m currently recommending this one to my friend cause it’s so cheap and reliable!!.

this was purchased as an expansion to a bare metal TrueNAS Core server – primarily to add extra HDD capacity and cooling to a new case transfer. More than ample distribution on consumer Mboard and CPU and drives are running cooler as a result of adequate distribution.

Non-modular but that’s my preference for this machine – just something to be aware of if you want a modular kit. Great product!.

I got this free with the purchase of a video card as an afterthought. One day my PSU fried and had to RMA it. I remembered I had this one and tried it out. To my surprise it handled a 7700K OC’ed and a 1080TI setup no problem for a week.

I think I will keep it as a backup. I think it would work well as a regular desktop PSU. I wouldn’t recommend it for high end gamer setups as it is at the limit of it’s wattage.

I have always looked up to Cooler Master for great products and this is no different. This product has performed amazing, it’s very quick, and I know that it will perform great even throughout the years.

I think I’ve put this in a custom build for my customers 3 times in the past. Things made as well as this is one of the reasons why my builds never fail and my customers stay happy. Will definitely buy again.

I got this power supply because I wanted the gold efficiency rating at a reasonable price, and it has good technical reviews online. I found it simple to install. It’s not modular, and I wouldn’t expect that at the price, but I found the cables were flexible and easy to route.

It provides 8 SATA connections, which is more than some other power supplies (and more than I need), but it’s useful to have them in case they are needed later on. It’s been running for about 4 weeks at this stage and behaving well.

It certainly lives up to its name (I can hardly hear it).

I love the drive ports on the back. The ATX pigtail was nicely wrapped and had high quality connectors. AND – it included every connecting cable known to man. I would recommend this unit with confidence.

Pros: The OEMs for this PSU are either going to be Seagate or Delta. (Delta models have a D on the end, eg 500D ard are the slightly better, revised ones). Both of which are considered as some of the best PSU OEMs.

So it has good pedigree. Is very, very quiet, almost silent. Plenty of SATA and molex connections. Good price for a 500W PSU. 3 year Antec warranty. Would certainly consider buying this again if I needed a 500W PSU.

Cons: Because of its “green” credentials, the actual output is about 440W. That’s good enough for everyday users. If you have a good GPU though, it probably won’t be enough. My front USB ports do not deliver the same amount of power as they used to with my older PSU (which was also 500w but incredibly loud).

Although the amount of power is technically within spec (500 mah/5V). Some portable USB HDDs now require the use of a Y lead or I need to plug them directly into the back of the machine (rear USB ports are usually the “true” USB ports on a system, front USBs are normally extended from the back and tend to have a little bit less power).

This is as much a problem with the particular model of HDD I am using however (Verbatim) not being within the USB spec. But it is a point I thought I’d make. Flash sticks/SD cards are unaffected and work exactly as before.

The connecting cables could also have done with being a little shorter, though I guess it’s better to be too long than too short. The colour. It’s awful. If you have a see through case, this will look fugly.

I know it sounds a bit petty and it certainly doesn’t bother me, but again I thought I’d point it out for those who like to show off their PCs guts.

Maybe it’s just bad luck for me and I just happen to get the lemon of the bunch shipped out. I know a lot of people seem to like Antect PSUs in their builds. This was my first Antect PSU purchase so I cannot base it off of past models personally.

This sucks because my budget is so tight right now and buying a new power supply unit is just not doable for another two months it seems. I just hope this dud of PSU did not screw up my other computer parts in the case by some freak occurrence.

Right now, I wish I had gambled on the cheaper, lesser brand PSU sold on NewEgg instead of this model. So much disappointment, lost time and hopes because this key component.

Received this power supply with an Antec case. Because it uses Active PFC, it is not compatible with many (most?) consumer grade UPSs, including the APC line. The stepped sine wave output of most cheaper UPSs causes a problem with many Active PFC power supplies.

If you need a UPS, you will have to get a significantly more expensive pure sine wave model. APC, Tripplite, and Cyberpower all make pure sine UPSs. Cyberpower is probably the cheapest but at the cost of runtime.

This power supply is trash. It’s $16 for a reason. And again, it is because it is trash. It is not certified in any way and that should be your first suspicion that you are dealing with dubious quality.

I did not purchase this for some high end machine. I purchased it for an old Compaq Pentium III model with two Voodoo2 cards in SLI. Those cards draw 10W per card. The computer’s original power supply was a stock Compaq 250W that handled it fine, but I decided it might be a good idea to replace it anyway as it is over 20 years old afterall.

So, you would figure this 400W modern PSU would be more than enough? Nope. The power supply popped off after running a few seconds of an old 3DFX Voodoo2 demo. Returned and replaced with a Thermaltake 500W which is about $20 more.

But, $20 well worth it not to have to swap PSU’s again. Ohh, and the wiring is super thin and the plugs are the cheapest plugs I have ever encountered. It is ALL bad. I would steer clear from all “Solidgear” products if I were you.

It might be “gear”, but is certainly ain’t “solid”.

The power supply is OK. It does what I need it to do: be cheap, deliver power to a special use, always on, open air PC. But the power cables are *very short*. This is intended for a “Top of the case” Old school PSU Orientation.

Think of your old Beige cases from the ’90s. You’re not going to be able to do pleasant cable maintenance with this PSU. And the wires feel the absolute minimum thickness to be safe. My personal use case is the machine is consuming about 120w 24/7/365 and I trust this enough to do that.

I don’t know how this thing would handle a GPU load. The fan is also pretty quiet. So that’s a plus. But I’ve been using this power supply under non-stop load for weeks since I bought it and it hasn’t died yet.

So if that’s what you’re looking for, this does what it needs to do. If you were building an extreme budget system with no GPU, this thing would be OK. I just wouldn’t trust this thing to safely provide 400w of power though.

16 year old PC from 2003 eMachines C2280 started to show signs of malfunction since a few weeks. (We use it to only play a 2004 game called Battlefield Vietnam which works perfectly on Windows XP OS.

It works on newer OS’s too including Windows 10 but some sound features don’t work on newer OS’s. ) Sometimes it would turn on and sometimes it didn’t. Finally it stopped turning on completely last week.

So I tried to find out what was the problem. Everything looked okay. After a lot troubleshooting, checking if the power button had failed, or RAM had failed or Graphics card had failed, and after online searching, I learned that the power supply may be the failure.

I picked up this one from MC store and it works perfectly. Original power supply was 200W so this one is almost double the power. This was better than purchasing a replacement PC.

I’m using this unit to power a system based on a 65-watt (rated) CPU with iGPU, so I suspect that the total power requirement of my system will never reach even half of the rated power of this PSU. So even though I’m not exactly surprised that it runs nice and cool, I’m nonetheless quite pleased that it does.

I guess I’ve just become excessively reliant on the notion of the most brain-dead plug compatibility giving me the assurance I need of correct assembly. But since my motherboard manual came with pinout voltage information, I can’t see why the PSU can’t come provided with similar data.

It’s not to save paper; the company is only too happy to regale the new owner with the same check-out-all-the-great-features propaganda that I read of on Newegg before settling on the purchase to begin with.

And a voltmeter won’t do the trick either. I guess that’s a limitation of “pull” PSU’s that won’t provide power unless there’s a demand for it.

It was a hassle having non-modular cables with my previous power supply, so going fully modular was a nice upgrade. Also, can we talk about the fanless design. It’s a feature that makes this product a bit pricey, but I think it’s a very good investment.

If you like recording vocals, streaming, etc, then this power supply is something you need. Once I booted up my pc, the loudest thing I could hear was my HDD (my system fans run quiet since I use the Corsair H100i AIO liquid cooler).

It was a drastic change and that’s what I was looking for once I got it running. Note: In the manual, it mentions that the power supply will only support the use of cables that came with the packaging.

I ordered braided power supply cables for customization, but I’m concerned it won’t be compatible. I’ll give them a try once they come in, but I recommend just using the cables that come with the power supply.

It’s a PSU, it works. Packed very nicely and and came with a really nifty black bag. No problems so far. Still getting used to the fact that has no fan. Temp in case is fine. Fits well in my micro ATX cooler Master case.

There are cheaper 500 watt PSUs but then there are some important compromises. Firstly this one has 2x 6+2 PCIe power connectors so will connect to the most power hungry GPUs. This is a consideration for me.

Secondly this PSU easily powers a high power GPU like an old R9 290 or HD5970 without straining. Not all 500 watt PSUs actually meet their rating. This is probably why the cheaper ones don’t have the full set of PCIe GPU connectors.

It’s to try and stop you using them. If you have to spend £5 on a splitter then you may as well have spent the money on a better PSU. You can probably find a cheaper 500 watt PSU that will do what you need but for what I needed the next one up would have been a 650 watt for a lot more money.

That makes this one very very good value. You can also tell it’s good quality compared to the ones £10 cheaper.

This 500W power supply is a very high quality product for a very reasonable price. Very easily fitted using the supplied screws and it powered up without any problems. I have used similar products from Be Quiet before (fans and power supplies) and as their name implies they are renowned for their very efficient and silent operation.

This product is no exception and the overall build quality is extremely high. All the internal leads are insulated with braiding and bunched logically into 6 branches, so connecting it internally is fairly easy, despite the fact it is not a modular design.

My older fan was quite noisy. I am very pleased that I installed this BeQuiet fan on an existing motherboard’s as a CPU fan. It makes quite a difference when you’re working in your home study. I can hardly hear my computer now.

Pros: Quite compact for ATX cases. Good clearance at base for PSU air supply. Good for price Cons: The tempered glass side had 2 very conspicuous hinges top and bottom. Not as good as other makes. Front 120mm fan screws pulled through their holes.

Pros: It was working for a couple of days i would have recommended it of it actually kept working Cons: The puter case is just cheap mostly plastic. Waste of time because I just recently built my computer and the second week i was doing work.

Poof the whole thing turns off. I had to spend a extra 100 pounds on getting a better replacement. It’s a no no from me.

Great power supply, performs as expected. One thing to note is it doesn’t include a power cable to connect the power supply to the wall, but it’s not expensive to buy one.
