20 Best 5Ghz Wifi Security Camera (2022 Updated)

The claims of the batteries lasting a year are preposterous unless perhaps the cameras are barely recording doing any work. In the eight months I’ve had mine I’ve charged three of the cameras twice and one of them four times.

They work more in the summer when there are leaves on trees causing shadows that move and get picked up by the motion detection. But if I make the motion less sensitive, I’ll miss seeing the motion that matters so I just deal with it.

But once I’ve learned the quirks of the system and gotten past a few limitations of the app I don’t like, I really like the system overall. The video quality is great. There are no hidden fees. There are no monthly fees necessary and the app is easy to use and doesn’t require unnecessary steps to waste time to view a camera when an alert pops up (compared to my awful Arlo system that requires a fingerprint and then shows an advertisement and has a huge lag before finally connecting to see the motion that it likely missed anyway but I can’t see without paying their fee).

I wish this system was compatible with IFTTT and had better integration with Google Home and SmartThings as my other home security devices are, but the fact that every time look at one of these cameras on the app or computer and it’s right there all the time without any lag or any delay in connecting, is much more important.

I purchased the 4 camera system and love it. There is no monthly fees although they do offer 24/7 monitoring service where they monitor your cameras and call you or the police when there is suspicious activity.

I might consider ordering that service. Regarding my setup: I am hosting these cameras in Apple HomeKit. It notifies me and my wife when it detects motion. I has a built in alarm that would startle any would be criminal lurking around my property at night.

It records clips of any motion detected and always send notification to my phone. It has geocoding that allows it to switch automatically to AWAY mode when we are away from out home. The video quality is crystal clear even at night.

Home Kit reduces the resolution to 1080p but it is still superior quality video. It can distinguish between Cars, People and Animals. You can set the system to only react movement in specific customizable zones as well as ignore animals or other objects while reacting to people.

What was really remarkable to me was the fact that I was able to mount a camera on my shed that is pretty far from my house and still have a strong wireless connection to the base. In addition, even thought the camera is mounted on the my shed, giving me a full view of my entire house, I am still able to digitally zoom in for closeups.

This is really an awesome security camera system! PS: The entire system is super easy to setup. The packaging was of high quality. The cameras themselves are solid and heavy. It shows that they did not skimp on materials.

So far, I have had the cameras installed for about a month with no issues. I researched for a long time, watched many YouTube videos comparing. various systems, but I believe this system is the best available.

I f you are looking for something that’s easy to install, works if Home Kit, Alexa and others, and comes with zero monthly service fees, look no further!.

The cameras have been very reliable, even in the north eastern winter in minus degrees. The battery did not waver and I can still get a good six months out of heavy use before having to recharge again.

Set up was super easy connecting the camera to the homebase. The range from the homebase to an individual camera is about 150 feet, which was more than adequate to maintain a steady streaming in 2K around my entire property.

Some of the motion detection, especially at night, was a little excessive but was able to “dial it down“ in the app for each individual camera. I really like the strong magnetic connections to the mounting, as this allows to flexibly reposition cameras.

I even just plopped it on to the mailbox just for fun. My only gripe is with the computer software which does not allow you the same flexibility as via the phone app. You cannot call up the cameras video feed on your computer.

They need to work on this. Finally, when I did have an issue with one of the cameras, I called customer service and I received a replacement camera within a few days, no questions asked. You have to love that!.

I have Kasa / Tapo products all over my home which I use on a daily basis. This is the first camera from Tapo I purchased and was surprised but the features some other venders charge extra for. You will need to purchase a good quality SD Card for local recording but you have the option to purchase cloud storage if you wish.

Installing then camera is simple just make sure you have a outlet close by. Syncing to the app did not go well. In fact it took several attempts before the app found the camera in added it into the reset my my devices.

Now it is synced up it’s great. This unit contains extra features other venders charge extra for. It has an emergency light and an siren to scare off Intruder that you can activate anytime or use the automatic function and if motion is detected then it will activate for a set amount of time.

The colour night vision is ok and could be improved. Night time detail is good but day time detail is great. For the price you get an excellent piece of equipment for a lower price than other venders.

What more could you want.

Ordered and here within about one day – excellent service JL! The camera is outstanding. Very easy to set up, connect, fit etc. No snags with Wifi. As reported in the previous review, the colour 2k picture is fantastic, and at night is amazing – a really good, full colour picture.

Worth the extra cost over the cheaper 310 model. I bought at the same time a Eufy 2k, 2-camera + base station set up for the back garden. This is IR only, and does not give nearly as good a picture at the TP Link camera at night.

For my money I could have bought 4 of these instead of the Eufy 2-cam setup. Don’t get me wrong, the Eufy is also excellent, but provided you can get a mains power supply, the TP Link camera is much better value for money.

Purchased this a few weeks ago and so far it’s been a delight to use. Video quality is very good and have used a 256Gb Memory Card to have continuous recording – no monthly subscriptions required here.

There is a “Full Colour Night” mode, which is really good, far better than the infra-red view in low light conditions. The only real complaint I have is that there is no way to make the light trigger when Motion is Detected.

Rather you can make the LEDs flash with or without the Siren. So I would find that a Light being triggered would be better. But for the price there’s a lot of functionality. Hopefully a future update will correct this.

Pretty impressive camera have had this for about 7months or so. Best when paired with the reolink solar panel so you dont need to worry about charging it when direct sunlight will provide charge to the solar panel which charges the camera.

I use this camera around the chicken run and the 360 degree feature allows me to see where my chooks are but also pan/tilt around to see around the coop especially during the night as this camera also has night vision as well.

The camera takes a Micro SD card and with enough storage you can record as much as you want (does not record continuously ). Motion detection is good, easy installation and overall a good camera. Only complaint i have about this camera is the connection even though it is connected to my wifi extender which is in close range.

At times the camera will fail to load and this happens to my other wireless reolink cameras aswell , this issue can remain for while however , regardless of this i still recommend the camera.

Serving the purpose it’s mainly intended for. Would like if it had a longer distance for motion triggering, and for our purposes I’d prefer the red lights to be invisible at night

The 4mp resolution on this camera is merely upscaled 1080p and is average quality. Night vision is poor beyond 10ft but works okay with additional night lighting. Software and support is where this device is superior to others, reliable and dependable.

Thats what youre really paying for here. Even though there is a lot to ask for, for around $40 this 410 model is still highly recommended.

I started with a V380 chinese cheapie. Really just didn’t work at all. Image quality was ordinary, software was rubbish, no support, SD card recording didn’t work. So then I tried a sricam which had online recommendations.

It ruined 3 SD cards, recorded for a while then stopped. Much better image quality but software was really difficult. I’ve only had the reolink in service for a couple of weeks but so far software is far superior and it’s recording properly.

I can download from the on board SD card easily and quickly. BUT image quality is ordinary. This unit is 4 mp the sricam was 2mp. The sricam was slightly better in daylight and MUCH better at night. There are image settings that I’ve only played with a bit so maybe someone cleverer with digital imaging could get more out of it but for me it’s pretty average.

It was also harder to setup than the others because it doesn’t create a hotspot so you have to get a cat5 cable and connect it to your computer initially. Once that was done setup was ok.

These are great cameras. They do exactly what I want them to do. I bought 3 cameras one was bad. I wrote the company sent me one out right away. I have 3 cameras as security and thinking of getting 3 more!! Love these things!! Easy set up and easy to use!! I would definitely recommend them to anybody!! If I could give 10 stars I would!!.

I was very unhappy with the product. it had no instructions, so I basically bought it for nothing. I don’t know how to use it. I wish I would’ve known it was not gonna come with instructions, I would’ve never bought it.

There is nothing NOT to dislike about this camera. I have 3 already from another vendor. Wish I just came to Walmart. But anyway. Very easy to hook up. Can watch and listen from anywhere. You will need a SD Card.

I bought Kexin 64 and they work great. I am a camera freak. I have tried a lot of them. They also alert you immediately. Like maybe 1 sec delay. You can watch live view for ever if you wanted too. Up, down, left, right.

There is nothing NOT to like. These cameras are fantastic. I recommend these.

Main grip: Time/date is failing to sync using the phone app. So it’s difficult to track down the time for a specific video recording I’m looking for. Would be 5 stars if it synced properly. + decent image quality + was easy to setup + app works + wireless connectivity works + controlling pan/tilt works – time/date won’t sync – mounting system could be sturdier/better.

Excellent security camera and works brilliantly. I now have 3 of these. They are indoor security cameras but I have them pointed out the window overlooking my garden as its the garden plants and planters that were being stolen and items being moved about.

If the RF red lights are turned off then they don’t reflect against the window at night time. This works perfectly because I have a good lightened area outside. I have the Reolink app on both phone and ipad.

The ipad because I have impaired vision. I’m so glad I found these security cameras on PB Tech.

The camera was easy to connect to wifi but the camera itself wasn’t worth the effort. It does it’s own thing even when you turn off tracking. The light’s comes on every few seconds and keeps flashing on and off until you unplug it.

Not a good quality camera. For the money I thought I would try it out. Won’t make the same mistake again. Maybe it was defective to start with.

Bought a replacement Lumus to replace the same model under a year old. The LED night lights have stopped working. Not very good for a camera of this age.

This eufy 2 Pro 2K Indoor or Outdoor Camera has so many neat things I can list that I won’t finish today, I was so excited ordering this camera I did not read it did not come with the homebase, had to be bought separately.

My husband immediately looked around for one and he ordered it and had to wait for it a bit, always make sure to read all directions before attempting to use bew devices. I was very excited I wanted to jump the instructions and almost mounted the camera, it’s a bit heavy feels like good quality material that will withstand crazy weather.

I loved the idea to have an option for indoor or outdoor security camera but the features are what sold me, has a crying sensor that’s neat. When my kids are playing outdoors when dad is working outside, boys play rough I can be aware when the first aid kit is needed and be prepared with a crying child before hand.

And peace of mind that my backdoor is under security and keep an eye on the furry friends as well, I like that we can call out on him and he looks around for us. The app is very easy to install and register and start taking advantage of all the neat features and personalized settings you wish to have or for your personal needs.

Overall very happy on how it’s been working and what we are getting, the battery life looks great we did charge until the blue light went off says a total of 12 hours.

I purchased 2 of these cameras, 1 for the front door and one for the garage/driveway. Initially, they worked well, however, I’ve started to notice that they alert me to many things “falsely”. I’ve changed the Motion detection sensitivity and changed the detection type to “Human Only”.

Still receiving notifications when vehicles pass. Also, the activity zone uses a rectangle or square shape, so it doesn’t accurately include/exclude areas you want as “privacy zones”. You cannot add multiple zones, so there is no clear way to narrow down the private areas.

The images are really clear, which is great. However, when a face is detected, the camera doesn’t do a great job of displaying that face with the recording captured. This could be a result of the person just moving too quickly.

I haven’t tried testing standing and facing the camera for a long period to allow the camera to detect and record a face image. The camera is very easy to sync to the home base, so setup is rather quick.

I also added a small solar panel to each camera so I wouldn’t need to take them down to recharge. They appeared to hold a charge rather well before I added the solar panel. Not sure I would have gotten a full 365 days out of the battery without charging the camera.

Overall, I’d say the camera is average, mostly because of the limitations of the privacy zone and alerts. If this is not a concern, then this camera will work well for you.

The Netatmo Welcome’s biggest advantages are presence w/facial recognition, homekit support and no additional cloud fees required. These were all selling points for me. Now the disadvantages: lack of Alexa support, no built in speaker (think D-Link Omna).

The upcoming doorbell product addresses the built speaker, but lacks facial recognition. I’m not quite sure why Netatmo can’t release outdoor products with full facial recognition capability with 2-way audio or indoor products with 2-way audio? The Butterfly SmartCam will soon be released and have all of this, but it will also force you in to undesired residual cloud fees of $9.

99/month. Ultimately, you will need to decide what is most important for your security needs AND what ecosystem you will settle on. I have already resigned to the fact I will require more than one device to settle my needs.

I will probably rely on the Netatmo products for presence notifications and perhaps the Circle 2 without cloud storage until the Netatmo doorbell is available. Note, I am also using Homebridge on Raspberry PI to incorporate my Axis cameras in to my security set up.

This allows me to use Homekit to mostly unify my set up. The only disadvantage of this is lack of PTZ ability.

Facial Recognition technology is starting to become a commodity in home security video surveillance. Most do this either with software on an expensive NVR platform, or all your video is uploaded and processed in the cloud.

Netatmo processed on the camera itself, so you can drop the recording before it is ever uploaded. The profiles (facial data) are stored on each camera, so you do need to spend time training each camera.

Company appears to use Agile dev cycle, bringing constant and steady updates. I am looking forward to more API actions with iHome and Wink, particularly around tying into if home or away, but also for lights.

If not, I will probably sacrifice some privacy for functionality. Looking at Canary, Lighthouse, but we shall see.

You have to hook it up to your computer to get it set up. After that be sure to set it up pointing toward the door of the house you use most. As I was setting it up (hooked up to my computer) it was pointed toward the TV and started sending me alerts to identify the cast of “Scorpion”.

funny stuff. It is now sitting on a desk looking at the back door where the family goes in and out. I just love how this camera looks. It is awesome. I doubt that anyone that had never seen this before would realize it is a camera.

My parents saw our Netatmo welcome and just had to have one. We are Windows/Android, they are Mac/iphone. Both set-ups went well. Just want to clarify about the facial recognition, after the camera recognizes a face, there is a drop down menu that gives you the option to put a name to the face you want it to remember.

The playback video is clear, it records sound as well as video. Really an awesome camera. I am a technology junkie and this camera will satisfy me for quiet a while.

One of the biggest reasons for this, and one of the reasons these cameras impress me so much, is their quality without the need for additional cloud storage or fee for features. You don’t need to pay a monthly security fee, or storage fee, or anything other than the upfront cost of the cameras and the home base to go with them.

Once you have all of the components, they work together completely on their own. However, this doesn’t mean they are lacking in software support or quality, as the picture quality is the best I have seen from a wireless camera system, and the software experience has been great! Starting with the set-up, getting the home base installed is super easy, with just a power cord and ethernet to the router all that is needed.

From there you download the Eufy app and it walks you through the set-up process, which takes a few minutes at most after you set-up your account. You get 15. 6GB of storage out of the box, with the ability to add a hard drive to the home base for up to an additional 16TB of storage.

The cameras themselves are relatively compact, and have long solar panels on the top for charging. They connect to frames which you can mount almost anywhere, given they are wireless, and have a simple ball joint mechanism for rotation and tilting which makes them very flexible with positioning.

The only thing you will need to watch out for is ensuring the cameras can have plenty of direct sunlight, so they can stay charged without needing to be taken down and charged manually (which you can do if you’d like/need to).

This does require some pre-planning to ensure the cameras are placed where you’d like, but also not under an overhang or roof where they will be shaded. From a picture quality standpoint, they look great.

I can get a live view from the cameras anytime from the app, and I can easily zoom-in and adjust as necessary for getting additional detail. The field of view is nice and wide, so one camera can give you plenty of great coverage, and the night vision looks great, with nearly as much detail as daylight.

The cameras also have a light which can pickup color in low light conditions at night, although this was turned off by default and probably for good reason, as while you do get good night color, I found the detail to be worst than the regular night vision, with a bit more ghosting and image break-up on moving objects.

Personally, I would leave the regular night vision on and leave it at that. I haven’t owned the cameras long enough yet to test their full battery life, but given where I have placed mine, I haven’t seen the battery drop below 100% yet after a few weeks of ownership.

I don’t know how they will hold-up from a battery life standpoint in winter, but so far the solar charging has been working great, and if I do need to take them down to charge them, it is a very easy disassembly process.

They can also be charged manually from USB-C at the home base, which is also a nice touch. Additionally, the cameras also feature two-way audio, so you can both get audio from them, as well as speak through them for communicating with people if you would like.

From a software standpoint, the experience has also been great. The Eufy app is easy to use, and I have had zero issues with connectivity or dropouts yet. Additionally, the BionicMind can detect animals, people, and vehicles, and will automatically start recording the events when it sees them.

It can also pick out familiar faces, which you can also add manually, so that if it sees you, your family, or other frequent visitors, it won’t alert you and record the event immediately. If you have other Eufy home security products, you can also easily set modes or automations to tie into your schedule, which integrates great with smart home systems.

Really, all-in-all the software experience has been great so far, with zero usability or quality complaints from me. As I started in this review, what really impresses me most is that all of this great quality comes with no additional fees.

In an age where more “smart” products are being sold with near mandatory subscription fees, without which the features of your product are severely hindered, it is refreshing to get a “smart” product which just works out of the box, has great quality, and doesn’t try to upsell you.

Yes, you can get more involved with Eufy’s other security offerings if you’d like, but if you just want security cameras like these, that offer all of the features you would need, with super easy set-up, then you don’t need to pay more for storage or expanded features.

You have the options, and that is what is great as a consumer. All-in-all, I highly recommend these cameras if they are in your budget and you want some of the best wireless cameras money can buy, without the additional hassle.

There are a number of products on the market for those looking for wireless, security cameras. It really does pay to do one’s homework since many of the other brands also charge you a decent amount for monthly cloud storage.

Eufy is offering a great alternative to save the expense of monthly cloud storage and to have peace of mind knowing your video is stored locally on the Eufy homebase. Setup of this two-camera system starts by accessing the Eufy Security app.

We already had this on our mobile devices since we use the Eufy dual cam doorbell. We proceeded to add the Eufy 3 homebase and subsequently sync the cameras to that. The app runs one through the installation steps, including the signal level of your wi-fi as one tests out various camera placements.

We completed setting up the cameras and mounted the brackets onto our wood fascia. Initially, we got great results and everything seemed to be working with good camera video and the app notifying us of events as needed.

Later, we noticed that we were no longer getting notifications of video events and no recordings were showing up in the app. After two phone calls with Eufy support we were advised that we’d have to unscrew the camera from the mounts, reset them and start the installation process again.

Yes, this was a hassle, but that does seem to have corrected the issue. It was a nice option that Eufy support has a call back feature so one doesn’t have to wait on hold for a support rep. It is interesting that Eufy has designed these cameras with the solar panels built-in on top of the camera.

The quality of the panels appears to be quite good so I hope they do a good job withstanding the elements during our hot Summers. The weight of the cameras are more than other styles that do not have built in solar charging, but the camera mounts do a good job of holding them in place.

Aesthetically, I like the look of these better than cameras that offer a separate solar panel that must be mounted and wired to the camera. Eufy offers another version in this camera 3 series that is not powered by solar and would be a good option for shaded areas such as under patios or large trees.

Currently, we will also have to continue using the older homebase that came with our Eufy dual cam doorbell. Eufy support told me that the new Eufy homebase 3 won’t support this older model doorbell until approximately Spring of 2023.

I do appreciate the fact that we can incorporate these prior generation models rather than having to upgrade something we already have. I’d say that Eufy has some great product features in the Eufy 3 line with 4K video, facial recognition, local storage, an intuitive and easy to use app, and nice build quality.

It will be such a bonus to not pay a monthly cloud storage fee and still receive great video quality with expandable, local storage options. If the EufyCam 3 does as well as our dual cam doorbell we should be very happy for some time.

Eufy is no stranger to the security system. This is their newest surveillance system. The unit comes with two solar powered wireless 4K cameras, one latest and updated HomeBase 3 hub, power adapter, mounting base with screws, USB charging cable, and an ethernet cable.

The entire system is well built with sleek design and is packaged nicely. Like always, this Eufy system comes with no monthly fees associated. The best part is that all existing Eufy devices like video doorbells, smart cameras, smart locks, etc.

are all compatible with HomeBase 3. The 4K cameras are battery operated and are charged by integrated solar panel. The camera supports color night vision with clear image clarity. It has a built-in spotlight and siren that can be controlled using the Eufy app.

A fully charged battery on the camera can last up to a year, but the solar panel does help with the charging. One thing to be aware of, since this is a battery powered camera, it doesn’t do continuous recording.

You can customize the clip recording length with set intervals that will give you back-to-back recordings. The HomeBase connects to the cameras wirelessly although the HomeBase itself is connected to the network via the ethernet cable.

Eufy says there is a future updated planned that will enable the Wi-Fi option. The system uses self-learning AI for facial recognition, human and pet detection, vehicle detection, etc. The HomeBase 3 comes with 16GB of internal storage but there is a hard disk slot to expand the storage up to 16TB using a 2.

5″ SATA interface drive. It is compatible with Google Assistant and Alexa. Eufy says they are still working on Apple HomeKit support. Overall, this is a nicely upgraded surveillance security system with impressive features from Eufy.

If you are invested in Eufy ecosystem, this is a no brainer upgrade and enables you to manage all your connected devices from one place.

I’ve owned this camera set for about 2 months and did a lot of research before I purchased it. Something that I never read or heard about from prior reviews is the issues this product has with motion detection.

The issues include: inconsistent detection, detection of objects outside of the programmed zones, and somewhat slow response time. I’ve been fiddling with the settings a lot and have concluded that there is some underlying issues with the software.

I recently did a search for the ‘detection of objects outside the zone’ issue because I was getting annoyed with false notifications of cars driving past the street, even though they were way out my programmed detection zones.

I searched to see if I could find support for this issue and what I found was disappointing; I saw Reddit comments and other forums from 1. 5 years ago with the same issue and peoples attempts at solving this issue have not been successful through contact with the company.

I’ve also had issues with people crossing through my motion detection zones coming right up to the house that have not been picked up by the system at all – this occurrence is inconsistent and happens maybe 1 out 10 times that I am aware of.

Also, notification delay can be frustrating because I generally want some notice before a person pulls up, gets out of their car and rings our doorbell. I get a chime from the app a split second before I hear the doorbell, but realistically the car pulling up should have triggered the notification, and I should have at least been notified as the person was getting out of their car.

The hardware for this product is fantastic and I’m really happy with all other aspects of this camera including the app interface and features. It’s still a very good product but I wanted you all to be aware of the issues I’ve been having so you can make an educated decision to purchase it.

These cameras are replacing a system that is 4-5 years old so right off the bat I was thrilled with the picture quality. It is miles better than what I am used to. It’s super clear and crisp. Set up was really easy, as was install.

The notifications pop up quickly on my phone and Apple Watch and with the option turned on I can see a shot of whats going on without having to open the app. Our old system went off constantly for every little thing and the zones never worked.

The zones on these cameras work great. My front camera zone is just my yard and a car on the street hasn’t set it off yet. I will be replacing my doorbell with a Eufy because I’m really pleased with how well it works! Unless you turn all the settings way down don’t expect this to actually last an entire year, probably more like 3-4 months but that’s pretty standard for a wireless camera.

I wanted to give it some time before reviewing this, mostly to test the “weatherproof” aspect of this camera and I can now say that it holds up pretty well! I live in a place prone to hurricanes and though we haven’t had one hit since installing these cameras, we’ve had some pretty intense rain and wind and it doesn’t seem to affect the functionality at all.

Install and setup was quick and easy. Picture quality is perfectly clear. Motion/person detection is great as is the ability to customize notifications so your phone isn’t getting blown up because of every little shadow or leaf blowing in the wind.

We have another camera system which I do like better because of the ability to move the camera directly from the app on my phone, which you can’t do with these. However, those other cameras can be a pain; they’re too sensitive and pretty finicky.

I’ve had NO issues with these whatsoever. the feedback is IMMEDIATE. I will receive a notification before I have even finished pulling out of my garage into my driveway (where one camera overlooks) which gives me peace of mind that if anyone were ever approaching my house that wasn’t supposed to be, I would know about it in real time before they even finished approaching my house.

Not long after they’re gone like with certain doorbell systems/cameras. Overall, I really love this camera system. Especially love that it’s wireless! Only wish they would update it so that you could control pan and tilt from your phone!.

The arlo ultra 2 spotlight cameras arrived 2 days before we were due to go away for 4 days, so great timing. My husband installed them which was a very simple process, especially as they are wireless.

We are absolutely amazed at how good quality these cameras are, the pictures and videos are so clear. Even the night vision which is also in colour is amazing. He put one out front, one in the back and one in the attic.

The reason he put on in the attic is because we thought we could hear a creature scuttling around, but could not see anything. So we will be using that camera somewhere else. We are protecting a nest with baby birds in it out back and from the camera found the neighbours cat was trying every way it could to get them, so we have manage to put up another piece of would to stop the cat.

The naughty cat was also sleeping on the engine on my husband car and had knocked a pipe off, so he has put on an extra clip to stop it doing this. It has a very wide viewing field, we are really impressed to be able to almost see our whole road.

Cloud storage keeps everything secure for 30 days and you get 3 months free then will have to pay a small subscription. It can identify parcels, people and animals. It also has a 2 way audio system which we regular use.

It has a built in spot light. I cannot recommend this security system enough and if I could give it 10 stars I would. I am raving about it to all my friends saying it is one of the best products we have ever had.

We already had an Arlo doorbell and were very impressed with the clarity of the videos and live camera action so we were keen to add on some extra cameras to improve the coverage around the whole house.

The ultra 2 offered the perfect package and the cameras were super easy to install. I particularly love the spotlights as we live in the countryside and going into the garden at night with the dog had meant me using a torch.

What I also love about the Arlo system is how easy it is to control the notifications, if you don’t want your phone to receive them you can easily mute them. It carries on recording and you can view them at a later time.

We also love the animal setting, this differentiates between humans and animals, which again you can mute and we have enjoyed watching all of the wildlife visitors to our garden. Thankfully we haven’t had any unwelcome visitors but it really does give you peace of mind while you’re away from the house, and also while you are in it, to quickly look and see what’s going on.

We subscribed to the Arlo video library which keeps recordings for longer and it was excellent value and to us well worth it. If you want discreet home security then the Arlo cameras are well worth investing in.

Starting out with the setup it was easy but time consuming. To sum up the setup I plugged in the base and then synced each camera separately through the app. I chose to mount the cameras by my front door and back door.

Looking at each of my cameras views I got a pretty good coverage of the surrounding area. More than I expected to be honest. As for viewing the cameras through the app the resolution is actually really good not super HD but enough that everything is visibly clear.

Zooming in though on the camera is actual greater than I expected it starts to get blurry but you can still visibly make out things when zoomed in. Focusing on the camera now so since this is a rechargeable camera it saves battery by not running 24/7.

Hence it gets activated when it detects motion. Motion detection on here from my use worked perfectly. Once the camera detects motion it starts recording and alerts you through the app. You can actually customize in settings how long you want it recited once it detects motion.

You can also create zones of activity for the camera to focus on. Theres also a security alarm that you can set to go off when it detects motion. For the sake of the mailman and delivery guys I kept mine off.

But you do have the option to turn it on anytime from the app in case you did see someone you didn’t know through the app Nd wanted to scare them. As for the app its very user friendly. The layout is great and I didn’t have any problems figuring where anything was in the app.

Overall it’s a great security camera if your wanting basic security as in things like knowing when someones around or not. The only downside is this does not cover 24/7 feedback because it’s a rechargeable battery it.

Overall, though it is a great camera all around and I have found it to be useful to have around just for alerts when someones is outside or a package was delivered.

Honestly, if there’s another home security package out there that’s better than this, I’d be surprised. Super simple to set up. Minimal set up steps. They walk you right through the set up. Minimal installation.

Best part is – visuals are super clear, night vision is awesome AND THE REALLY BEST PART – you see someone hovering around your house, just push the button on your iPhone and you can talk right through the camera at the guy and tell him to bleep off.

This is a fantastic unit. Records everything. Takes snapshots or videos. Only needs to be charged once a year. No wires!!! The only downsides that I can see are: 1) the pivot hinge on the cameras are small, so if you install a camera under an eave it’s a little tight to position – I added a block of wood between the pivot and the eave to make it more positionable; 2) batteries are inside each camera unit and can’t be removed, you need to literally need to remove the camera unit and plug it in for charging, but that’s once per year; 3) you can add extra cameras, but they are a bit expensive, but worth it.

Again, this is a super security unit. Best of all, the wife loves it and feels better, so that means I have less hassles. LOL.
