20 Best 6 Person Instant Tent (2022 Updated)

I’ve been looking for a decent tent for a while now and this seemed like a good choice. Our friends have the same one in a 9-person so I figured we get a slightly bigger size. It wasn’t available in Canada but we still wanted it, so invested more for the extra shipping, taxes and duties across the border during covid times.

Purchased in spring and used it for our first camping trip in July. We sprayed a waterproofing sealant before the trip as we normally do. First night camping, it rained. There was water inside the tent only around the 2 pockets.

We had chargers in the pockets and that was a big mistake because the water was dripping from the pockets. After we came back, I emailed Core with this issue asking what we can do to correct this. No answer and it’s been 11 days and counting.

So disappointing as I was expecting better quality and lack of customer service. I’m kicking myself for spending the extra time and money to bring it to Canada. Should’ve gone with Eureka.

I took this tent out for the first time last month. It was easy to set to and extremely spacious. The issue can in during the second night when there was a light rain all night. I woke up to find there were large pools of water under each window screen.

I assumed it was a manufacturing defect so I contacted Core’s warranty support, only to be told their tents aren’t designed for “inclement weather”. I find that completely ridiculous. A tent that can’t hold up to a bit of rain is utterly worthless.

Tldr: Don’t by a Core tent if you plan to use it outdoors.

This tent is awesome. It literally goes up in just about 2 minutes with minimal effort. The rain fly is very easy to put on as well. On the inside there is TONS of space. I really like the vents on both ends of the tent.

The fact that the vents span the entire width of the tent really lets in a good amount of breeze. I like the fact that there are two doors. While we didn’t use the smaller door to come and go, we did run our extension cord through it instead of snaking it around to the front.

I didn’t think we would use the dividers but we did and ended up really liking them. We used two CORE tent lights inside and they worked great, especially the “night light mode”. I had to watch a video on breaking down the tent but after doing it twice, it is also really easy.

Our last tent was a CORE brand and we loved it but it wasn’t an instant tent. This tent is bigger and doesn’t break down as small as our old tent but it’s still worth it. Overall, this tent well worth the money.

First off – This was a good tent. until I used it for the fourth time. My mom, sister and I go on an annual glamping trip and we have used this tent the last three years. Other then that, I have only used it for one other camping trip.

So a total of 4 uses over 3 years. During the 4th use a few weeks ago, the zipper on the larger T-style door broke. It wasn’t something simple like the zipper fabric detaching from the tent material, which I would have been able to sew, but instead the zipper teeth detached from the zipper material.

This made the largest door completely useless as we had to use duct tape to seal it shut to keep bugs out. For the remaining 5 days of our trip, we had to use the smaller D-style door which is on the back side of the tent.

This was extremely inconvenient and somewhat difficult, especially for my 70 year old mom. It isn’t a door that can be very well operated with a single hand. To carry anything into the tent, we had to set whatever we were carrying down outside the door, unzip the door, pick our stuff back up (now it’s dirty on the bottom), go inside and set the now dirty stuff inside the tent then use both hands to rezip the door.

Part of the reason it is a 2-handed door is because the zipper CONSTANTLY gets the tent material stuck in it. So. the moral of the story is that I now have a large, somewhat expensive tent with only one small functioning door that has issues of getting stuck and a questionable lifespan.

And don’t forget, this is after only FOUR USES! Regardless of how long ago I bought this tent, to care for it meticulously and only get four uses out of it is ridiculous.

Nice warm weather tent. Easy setup. Two people make it easier putting up and down. I was shocked at how large it is in the bag. Mainly the length in the bag. It will take up a lot of room and may not fit in some trunks or cargo areas.

Be prepared to haul on a truck bed or roof rack or some type of exterior way. Barely fits in a Jeep Grand Cherokee. Nice concept and have enjoyed so far. I’ve set it up and down 3 times and it does get a little faster the more times you do it.

Took the family Camping last weekend and this tent exceeded my expectations! We brought a pack N’ play for the baby and it fit perfectly in one of the tents divided sections. The other 2/3 of the tent was way more than enough to fit a queen air mattress and serve as storage for all of the extra stuff we brought with us (her decision to bring it all, not mine).

The best part of this tent was setting it up and breaking it down. Since chasing an 18 month old baby through the woods happens to be a full time job, I was left to set it up and put it away myself. Extremely easy.

The durability is on point and the overall quality of this tent is very well made. We’ll definitely get use out of this tent so I’ll right a review a year from now to see how well it holds up.

The instant technology didn’t work. It was extremely frustrating that the poles did not extend and align properly. One ended up breaking and I had to shove a huge tent back into a card board box. This technology seems to be made for a smaller tent NOT one of this size.

I have a 4 man Coleman with instant technology and it’s great. Luckily I had that one and was able to borrow another tent to use for our camping trip. It is worth stating that the return process was extremely long as well, the customer service rep was not knowledgeable and it took over an hour on the phone with what should’ve taken 5 minutes.

And it’s still not clear if I will get my $400+ back as I had to submit a claim with photos. Any other customer service no a days will refund you instantly in a situation like this. I won’t be purchasing this or another Coleman tent again.

I have to say, I wish I could give it 4. 5 stars instead of 4 but the system won’t let me do that. This is a big tent! Setup is super easy. Do a trial run before you actually use it. I didn’t read the instructions and had it up in 5-10 minutes.

When I actually went camping me and a friend had it up in less than 5 minutes, with the rain fly, again. without reading the instructions. I slept in it by myself and will be using it again in two weeks with my wife and dog.

I am sure you could easily fit a queen mattress in there. Nine people would be a squeeze for sure, but you could probably do it although I wouldn’t. I would say it gives four people plenty of space without feeling crammed.

I’m 6’1″ and can stand up in it, which is appreciated. The lighting is nice to have although I do wish there was an option to turn off the lights on the switches (maybe there is and I missed it) since the switch is lit up at night and kind of annoying; I suppose I could’ve just unplugged it.

The lights will also run off of a power pack if you have one, which is cool. I really like the layout of it. It has sort of a “Screen room” and you can put your queen bed (or twin XLs as I have) in the “bedroom” and use the included room divider if you want.

I didn’t use the vents on the bottom of the sides in the “bedroom” but they’re nice to have. Plenty of storage options to put phones, etc. It also has plenty of hooks for hanging things like lights and fans.

Breaking the tent down is fairly easy although getting it back in the back can potentially be a struggle, but I feel like that’s the case for a lot of tents. I also didn’t use the included ties to cinch it together, so take that into consideration.

I didn’t use the stakes at all, so I cannot comment as to their quality. Now the downside and here’s where it lost half a star for me. It down poured for a couple of hours and when I went in the tent, there were a few small puddles, and I mean small (hand sized), but I was disappointed to see that it had leaked.

I did not spray the tent at all with any water proofing prior to going camping. The puddles were easily wiped up in a few seconds with a towel, and ultimately it wouldn’t be a deal breaker for me. Someone at another campsite with the exact same tent in green said theirs leaked too, but that A) Theirs was old, and B) The instructions that I didn’t read, say that in heavy rain, to use a tarp.

Who knows, maybe some water proofing spray around the seams would help. I do not want to have to take a giant tarp with me if there’s potential for rain. I did tons of research before purchasing this tent and am ultimately happy with my purchase.

I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. PS. I would recommend buying the footprint.

We’re not sure what’s going on with this tent. We absolutely love the lights, roominess, zippers, pockets, and any other “basics” about it, except we had to buy real tent stakes vs the cheap ones that came with it – those pulled up way too easily with wind.

We would easily give it 5 stars if it weren’t for an ongoing wetness problem inside. We have the Core Footprint underneath the tent and have a couple of decades camping experience with setting up tents.

At first we saw a wet spot about the size of a tennis ball. It’s grown to the size of a beach ball – both on sunny days with no rain and on days with some rain. Same spot, different days, always getting wet.

We have a flannel sheet on top of the tent floor so chairs, etc, don’t ruin the floor. We’ve taken that out, made sure it was dry, and put it back in every day (7 days now) and the same wet spot always appears.

This is on a designated tent sand/shelled area in FL with no wetness around the spot and is in the center room of the tent approx 18 inches away from the edge with no wetness around it leading to any edge nor drips from above.

Then, overnight we’ve had two stormy, rainy nights. One was our first night, the other was last night. No water has leaked inside the tent (another plus) either night, and we looked at it this morning making sure there were no puddles.

There were none outside of the tent either – anywhere around our site. Yet, after a day of walking trails outside we return and find one whole room of the tent floor with a totally soaked flannel sheet on it.

The sheet was dry this morning with no rain since. This is not near the beach ball wetness at all, but it did soak our suitcases (bottom), Thermarest pad and a sleeping bag that was on the sheet. There was no rain during the day and no puddles around the tent at all, nor are there any leak spots we can see in the tent from above.

We’re stymied. Tomorrow we will have to take the tent down (annoying task with 5 days left of 12 camping) to try to dry everything out and see if there are issues with the footprint or what. One spot we were able to work around.

One whole room has us scrambling tonight to figure out what we are going to do for sleeping – esp finding it at night vs early this morning after the rain. It was sunny all day. The tent is somehow wicking up water from beneath – all without puddles or anything to explain it.

If this is the norm for this tent, at the very least we need to buy a better footprint than the one they sell with it. Otherwise, we really enjoy the tent and were happy we bought it – until tonight.

Now we still enjoy having the lights and the room – everything else about the design (other than the stakes), but this problem is frustrating. We’ve never encountered anything like this before and have stayed at this campground multiple years through many storms with a different tent/footprint.

I have never in my life wrote a review but I buy based on reviews and I couldn’t let this one go. This is a very durable tough build tent. I got caught in a very nasty storm with high winds and this tent stayed in tack and nothing broke or ripped.

I had to hold the side wall so it doesn’t collapse on us but eventually we left everything in the tent and ran to the truck. That tent took a bitting for 5 hours in the wind/rain and didn’t not break.

I had some water in the tent but compare to how bad the storm was the water was nothing. The stakes did pull up but didn’t damage the eyes,seems held up wonderful, metal poles didn’t brake or bend, zippers work, lights work.

I thought I would had just to throw it in the trash after the storm but oh boy I was wrong. Great buy and I hope this review helps someone make the decision I did 3 year ago!.

Does not at all fit 8 people. Does pop up though. Great for a couple

Nice tent overall. It was a little hard to fold back up and one of the zippers came off.

We have used this tent for two months. It’s got space, I have 3 complaints. First is the room divider, trip hazard if it is open because the bottom isn’t connected with the floor. Next is the fly screen cover.

Light wind has caused this to rip away from the zipper. Poor quality, it says rip stop technology. Obviously it doesn’t work on the fly sheet. Another issue is that it’s difficult opening and closing the the tent from inside without hanging up on the zipper flaps.

Overall it’s a good tent and loads of space.

Perfect size tent for a family of four with the fun features of the interior lighting, storage and the excellent dark coating which delivers on its promise. Have had an issue with a corner pole extension unfortunately.

The spring clip is held in the inner pole with a plastic bung only. It’s a weak interface and mine popped out when extending, requiring disassembly and refitting, with some epoxy to hold the clip/bung assembly into the pole.

Best to take some care putting up. Have found it more effective to assemble the poles and then clip on the tent inner as it lessens the force required to put tension on the frame in the final steps. Bar these issues it’s a good buy with some great features.

Have had no issues packing it up as it squeezes in well. Will probably upgrade the pegs at some point.

We recently purchased the Coleman 10 man pop up tent and took it away camping with our 10 month old son. The practicality of the tent is what originally drew us to this design and it was amazing. It was extremely easy to set up and pack away and has the perfect amount of room for our double mattress and his portable cot! It was quite hot in the day and the heat regulation wasn’t the greatest but a tarp should do the trick next time.

All in all for the cost it is a great and affordable tent and I would highly recommend it.

I’m doing this as a “daily task†on the new app. I don’t have this particular tent, so apologies for wasting your time! I’m reviewing Coleman as a brand. When I was a grad student living in Knoxville, there was a Coleman outlet close by and we bought a ton of camping gear that we used for four years and it was all VERY good.

Tents, sleeping bags, things for cooking, huge coolers, inflatable kayaks, fun accessories- you name it. Everything was high quality and never failed us. Easy to put together and take apart. I definitely recommend this brand for your adventurous.

Purchase this tent brand new in 2014 or 15 Don’t recall exactly. Used it once no problems or issues and loved it. Haven’t camped for a number of years so the 10 has been in its bag in storage. I took it out this year 2021 camping and got rained on.

The claim of any type of integrated rainfly is a bunch of bunk. The tent was instantly wet to the feel on the inside. Later that night it rained heavier and the top collapsed soaking the two of us that were in there.

Ever since that happened the tent will not stay up and collapses. I’ve tried every way I know to ensure the poles are correctly staked in etc and it continues to collapse. This thing is a bunch of junk.

Total use of this tent two times. I wish I were able to get my money back for this thing but I don’t know after 7 or 8 years. Very very very very disappointed. I really wish that there were a rating in the negatives for this thing because that’s what it would get.

A one is not deserved.

This is a good high-quality rainfly and helps keep the tent warmer during cool nights. Even though I rate it 5 stars, it could be improved. The tent and rainfly could be square so the fly would fit in any direction.

The tent and rainfly could have some means, like Velcro straps, to easily organize the tie down cords.

Pros: very large inside. Well packaged Cons: very large. Not fun to hike with at all. The door zippers catch on the fabric every time you open the door especially for the kids. Used it once. Wasn’t fun to set up.

Very bulky and heavy. Unsure of quality, will try to update at a later date. This is pretty neutral review. I’m unhappy with it ,but I think it’s mostly a buyer error. I backcountry hike and camp and got this tent because I was taking the kids (10,8 and 3) for the first time.

This was much heavier and bulkier than I anticipated. This is my first instant tent and it will probably be my last.

This tent is exactly what I was looking for. It sets up in less than 2 mins and is roomy as hell. I love being able to open up all the windows for a screen house effect. The tent also packs up pretty good too.

What I don’t like about the tent is for the size of the tent I was expecting more storage room to hold things, more pockets and compartments. I used my tent in the rain and it held up without any leaks.

One other dislike I have is the strength of the poles I feel the poles should be a tad bit thicker. I look forward to many years with this tent. By the way, the customer service is really good.

Quality seems decent and is easy enough to set up. I did drop a star because the sleeves the tent poles go through are longer than others I have and makes it more challenging to set up. However, the biggest drawback is the tent poles go into plastic holders on the corners instead of metal pieces, which will make them more prone to breaking.

That said, the tent is inexpensive and pretty nice overall.

im leaving a review for this item because it is much higher quality than expected. i slept in 34 degree temp, but was WARMER at night because of the tent quality. the seams are pre-sealed also. the material is a better quality than a normal tent.

the ceiling has a hook for a light. the one small pouch is quite low to the ground and not see through, but the tent is large enough for a 6 foot man and his camping gear. its the best 2 man tent ive ever purchased and i highly recommend the wakeman company based upon my experience with this tent, camping in the field.

This tent is a disaster!!! After 4 pitches had to break out sewing needles and upholestry thread and adhesive tape and Gorilla glue to keep it together. Fiberglass Tent poles break apart continually , bongi cord holding them in, fails , nylon sleeve for pop up easily rip open with slightest resistance.

Seams after just afew months use, breaking open. Do not waste your money on “Lost River” model. Other models might be ok.

Great Tent, not gonna lie some moisture and water droplets formed in heavy rain by the corner seams. But nothing that would discourage you from buying it. Would recommend seal spray or something to make it more waterproof on seams.

Ventilation is good, a little awkward getting in for a tall person in 6’2”. Really dark inside, I have woken up at 11am and still didn’t realize it’s daytime. Could fit one Queen and one twin comfortably.

It states it can hold 2 queens and I believe it can but you won’t have a lot of room to move around. Lights are a great plus as well, 4 D batteries not included.

I got to try this Ozark 6 person tent and I absolutely love it. I WILL be buying 2 more for the adult kids. It took about 2 minutes to set up and next time I could see it being 30 seconds. It opens, you push the button to extend the poles and it snaps into place.

voila! So much time saved, no fighting with poles and more time to enjoy camping. It takes 2 people but you could get away with 1 if you needed to. It has 2 windows, floor vent, a port to run electric cords into the tent rather than running it through the door and having to leave the zipper open a bit.

Taking it down was a slight learning curve but again next time will likely take about 3 minutes. The tent is available at Walmart and priced at $109. 97 which is a great price for this tent. I am 5’3″ and I stood comfortably my husband at 5’11” was ducked a bit but not a big deal.

Some nice features, but definitely needs a lot of work, especially staying dry in rain storms. The darkness of the tent is my favorite feature – I am a poor sleeper, and this definitely helped me sleep in much later.

Interior size is nice for a queen bed and lots of space for gear, or three twin size beds. The lighted poles are also a nice feature, but I don’t like that you have to reach up to the ceiling to turn the power to them on and off – it’d be great if that was built into the side of the tent.

I also like the amount of ventilation this tent has (windows, door, ground vents). The ground vents are an interesting feature, but in my opinion would perform better if the tub floor was higher – tons of water got in them when it rained.

The front vestibule also needs work. it’s really helpful having a double entry for keeping mosquitoes out of the tent, but you have to stoop a LOT to get in there and inside the tent, so it makes getting in and out of the tent really awkward.

Also, the tent bag for this product is by far the worst tent bag I’ve ever used – it doesn’t have a zipper and just kind of cinches around the tent w/ the carry handles, so it’s a floppy, large mess that’s hard to store.

I also think the tent itself is super heavy and big – don’t get me wrong, instant tents tend to be larger. But the corner poles for this tent are humongous and really heavy steel. they should have engineered them to be lighter weight and smaller in size.

Where this tent absolutely fails, though, is water resistance. During one of our trips it rained an entire 24+ hours, at some points a little heavy (it was about 3″ of rain over the course of the storm).

Water came in everywhere – seeped in through most of the seams, but especially the window seams, came in through the ground vents, and even seeped in a little bit from the actual sides of the tent. There was a good amount of water on the floor of that tent within just a few hours of the start of the rain storm – if we hadn’t been on a high air mattress it would have been absolutely miserable.

As it was, we couldn’t put any of our gear or clothes on the floor. If this tent didn’t have the benefit of being a dark room tent, I would toss it in a heartbeat. But since it’s a decent size and the dark wall feature is really nice for someone like me that has trouble sleeping, I’m going to work on waterproofing this really well and hope it helps for next summer.

Given the option though, I definitely wouldn’t buy it again.

To start, I manic bought this 4 days before a camping trip on the other side of the state with some friends. By the time it came I didn’t have time to set it up or to check to make sure it was all there.

So away we went. We got to the site with 30 minutes of light left for the day. My cousin, husband, and I set it up half in the light half in the dark. It took us about and hour and a half and we set it up wrong! The instructions are on a tag attacked to the carrying bag and they are the greatest to understand.

Especially in the dark lol. ** build the roof and then attach the legs like it says! **It makes it so much easier. All of the connectors are tied to the tent so that you don’t have to play a guessing game of what goes where.

This thing is massive. We fit 2 regular queen air mattresses, one queen with a headboard (don’t judge me, I’m bougie!) and one extended full (I would not recommend more then 3 queen beds, we had to put the full in the front bedroom/breeze way and it barley fit.

The 2 pop out closest and organizers are great, it also had room dividers, 2 sets of battery powered rope lights and a projector screen! All in all I 100% recommend this to anyone that is about the glamp life! Can’t wait to take it out with just the hubbs and I!.

I ordered via walmart. com and picked up to do a national park tour. Upon arriving at the campsite, I unzipped the packaging to find an opened box. Without an alternative, I pulled out the tent to find the outside covered in dust.

the tent was clearly used. Upon setting up the tent, I noticed the cabin covered in dirt with batteries, trash, change while having an odor of having clearly been slept in by a homeless person. Additionally, parts of the front entry flap were covered in what looks like cigarette burns.

Likewise, both the rain fly and all the stakes were missing. I refused to sleep in those conditions and as a result am now out $80 in camping fees and $200 in hotels. Additionally, when I finally got to a different store than the one I picked up from, customer service hassled me, insinuating that I had been the one to use it.

Only when I showed the pictures and threatened to void the charge on my card was the return processed. Completely unacceptable product and service. Terrible!!!.
