20 Best Aftershave For Black Skin (2022 Updated)

I was very surprised to read the poor review of this product; I had suffered from “barber burn” for many years until I attended a shaving seminar and got the down low on the intricacies of shaving. Not going to get into a whole thing here but you need to start with a beard oil to soften and clean the beard, then a top rate alcohol free shaving cream (Jack Black makes an awesome Supreme Lather Shave cream) and of course you need a new or newer blade (sorry 4 or 5 is about the max uses you can get out of a quality blade depending on your beard).

Follow up with a quality after shave balm like this product and voila! As I said, I use this product along with one other on a rotational basis and it works very well for my skin type. A little goes a long way and a container should last about 2 months of shaving three times a week.

Let’s be real- most sunscreen is a chore to put on, and that’s coming from a certified skincare junkie! I’ve searched high and low to find sun protection for my lips that didn’t taste like absolute poison or leave a nasty white cast behind and I’ve finally found it!! Jack Black has perfected the lip balm game and the sunscreen is a mega bonus! The fact that it’s a “men’s” brand also means that I can get the men in my life (brothers, bf) to care about their crusty lips too, thank you!!! I don’t know why people skip protecting their lips from the sun but don’t be one of them! There is no excuse! I’ve been using Jack Black products for the past couple of months and so far I’ve been enjoying them. They are a bit pricey in my opinion, but the products will last. I’m guessing at least 6 months. I mainly use this Post Shave Cooling Gel for my head.

I shave my head once a week and this works great. It’s a little slimy at first but dries quickly. I know some people complained about it, but get a better soap to wash your hands. I would recommend this to a friend, for sure.

I’m looking forward to trying out other products.

I’ve been in search of an aftershave that does what an aftershave should, moisturize the skin and prevent irritation, and RMBC’s Sandalwood Aftershave does exactly that. Most from other brands typically have denatured alcohol or other chemicals that can actually dry the skin, cause a breakout or irritate, but this stuff does everything it says it will.

I would give it a 5/5 on that alone, but instead docked a star as the scent can overpower mellower colognes, but that’s my opinion. Also the can arrived with a sizeable ding likely due to time in shipping, however it was still completely usable.

If you don’t care about that, then it’s a full 5. If you do care about that, still give this product a try and you won’t be disappointed in any case.

I loved the free sample of sandalwood shaving cream. It lathered up so fast and easy. It was absolutley gorgeous in scent, as it mingled with a cooling menthol. I plan to buy a full size of this and make it my daily shaving cream.

My search is over. Thank you Rocky Mountain Barber Company for such a great product. I am proud to say it is pure Canadian too.

I recently almost pulled the trigger on purchasing a shave kit from another high end national chain. I really liked the smell of their sandalwood in the stores. However, even with a 20% off coupon, the ‘frugal’ side of me couldn’t do it.

I searched for an equal product at a more reasonable price and landed on rockymountainbarber. com. My purchase was the sandalwood shave crème and aftershave. I honestly couldn’t be happier. The scent of both products is pleasant and long lasting, but not overwhelming or ‘chemically’.

I was especially surprised with the shave crème, as it leaves a cool tingle after your done shaving. Very refreshing! That all being said, I’m a believer. Save the extra $$$ and buy a superior product at a superior price.

It has a good burn and makes your skin feel sleek, but if you’re chasing girls, they will run faster with this bomb. The gunpowdery smell described is very musty, but they nailed the grandpa part. My mom told I me I “stank,” my friend said I needed a shower, and the other asked if I crawled out of a casket.

I find the scent enjoyable but most others find it horrid, its a hit or miss with more misses than hits. The Holy Black has a great smelling lineup except for this product. I will be chucking this one as high as I can throw it in hopes Grandpa will catch it floating in the clouds.

There was a bite smelling it from the bottle, but smoothed out on the skin. It is strong for a while, but settles down to an all day light. I don’t think it’s like bay rum or smoke, but to me it is spicy with a dark note I can’t quite place.

It’s like a retro classy barber shop with a splash of modern scents(pun?).

I was excited when I read about an aftershave that smelled of freshly fired black powder. Now I have been a loyal #6 aftershave guy for years, but while I was shopping for more #6, I saw this and thought I would definitely give it a try.

Seriously disappointed here. It has an overpowering “soap” smell and not even a hint of freshly fired black powder.

I have my shave my chin due to PCOS and I get excessive hair from the condition. Normally I’d get razor bumps dark skin and prickly hairs. THIS product is amazing! It smooths my skin and less bumps. Love it.

You need to make a feminine smell though.

As a bald man I shave my head and face on a very regular basis, I am constantly on the look out for a post shave product that actually makes my skin feel hydrated and soft aswell as providing relief from the shave.

This one fits all of them conditions and more! It smells so nice and feels so light in texture. It rubs in and sits on my skin well. It leaves my skin feeling cool and hydrated and calms any redness.

A minimal amount is needed but gives maximum effect. I love it and will be using for a long time to come.

What I like about this product is what it has taught me about post shave balms. I have used others that have very strong fragrances, but this one is so mild, and much better. This is because the other balms are so strong that they overpower your perfume, but this is mild and leaves your face smooth, so it works without overpowering your perfume.

I also like the fact that it is 100ml, so not too bulky to travel with. So, if you are a user who is looking for a mild yet effective post shave balm, I would highly recommend this.

I remember the original scent as a kid, my grandfather used to wear Old Spice. It was also the first after shave I used myself, because 20 years ago, there were nowhere near the variety of affordable scents available.

Old Spice, Skin Bracer and Brut, that was basically it. Old Spice back then from my memory had a REALLY STRONG long lasting smell to it. You could put it on in the morning, go to work or school, and people would still notice it 8hrs later.

I LOVED the smell of it! It has a flowery, rose, nutmeg, creamy vanilla, with a dash of rum type of scent to it. It’s a clean scent as well. I just ordered a small bottle of what they call the “original” scent, and honestly it doesn’t seem near as strong, which might be a good thing, but it is just as amazingly good.

It’s yummy stuff! I wear it even when I’m at home by myself because I enjoy it so much. I would say the original scent from 20+ years ago you would only need to use a few drops, like a dab behind both ears and you were good.

Now, with this newer version, it seems like I have to cup my hand and shake a few sprinkles into my palm, rub my hands together, and splash it on my face to get the same effect. They may have done this so that we have to use more/buy more, or the original may have just been a little too potent/overpowering.

And I kind of like that it’s been toned down a bit actually. You don’t want to knock people over with it. You can splash on a little extra, or measure it a little better, depending on how intense you want it.

For a low cost scent, I really don’t think it gets much better than this!.

haven’t bought any Old Spice in a long time, was going to order some. Saw all the number of reviews listed, got curious, thought I would read some, found out, the scent has been completely changed, Now I’m no longer interested in buying it anymore.

It’s the reason I wanted to buy some again, for the original scent I was so accustomed to for so many many years. People need to learn to quite “re-inventing” Originals.

To the Manufacturer: I bought this thinking it was really the Original Scent, but it is not. My 50 year old son has been wearing it since he started shaving because his Grandfather always wore it, and he does not like the new scent and is very disappointed, as is my Grandson.

He started wearing it as soon as he started shaving (he is 22). It is very sad. To Walmart: The packing it was mailed in was just a mailing envelope, so the box was smashed and the plastic bottle sprung a leak, we lost about 1/3 of the aftershave- the delivery person said his truck smelled of the aftershave but there was nothing he could do about it.

Beautiful fragrance with bonus hydration! I love wearing my fragrance in a subtle but all over way, so I opted to try Tom Ford fragrance in the form of this hydrating emulsion (which is a fancy way of saying “body lotion”).

The Black Orchid fragrance is just gorgeous! It’s a beautiful, creamy, sweet (but not too sweet) floral scent that’s very feminine but also very sophisticated. If you’re someone who moisturises regularly so your skin is well hydrated and you’re really just looking for a more mellow way to wear fragrance, like I like to do, this is the perfect choice.

I love the Tom Ford fragrances. The lotions are awesome because they make any of the fragrances stronger and more long-lasting. You can layer fragrances too. I like to wear Jasmin Rouge lotion with my Lost Cherry Fragrance for a unique and interesting twist.

I also love the Oud Wood lotion with my Costa Azzura Fragrance. Try it!.

Good product with remarkable fragrance. Better and effective for male and even female can also use it. Because it has little power but mind refreshing. Hope that my review will help someone else. Must try.

I bought this as a gift for my husband who is fairly sensitive to scents/smells, especially “artificial” scents. He has had good luck with what he has used so far from Suavecito, so I felt it was a risk worth taking.

This aftershave smells AMAZING, and best of all, it’s quite subtle. He uses the recommended amount after he shaves each day, and I have to get fairly close to him (maybe 6″ away) to smell anything. He loves the smell, and it’s not overpowering at all.

He’s jumped from aftershave to aftershave the last couple of years since so many of them tend to be so smelly, but this one is a definite keeper!.

I like a good old school aftershave lotion. It seems the trend now is to use balms and creams as a post shave treatment. There is nothing wrong with that if it appeals to you; however, I am from a generation where when you went to a barber, a straight edge razor that was stropped on a leather belt was used to trim around your ears and neck.

It was always followed up with a splash of aftershave lotion. I enjoyed that slight burn followed by a rush of refreshing cool. This aftershave is like that experience, except it is better because it does not burn, and it leaves a pleasant lingering menthol sensation on your skin.

The scent reminds me of Proraso aftershave, but it leans more towards a light spice aroma. It is also cheaper than Proraso. I am looking forward to sampling the other scents offered. This is just a great aftershave that I am pleased with.

Overall I like the product. It’s a great shave and I like getting new blades every 6 weeks. I bought the starter set with the travel case and everything. The battery and handle have not held up as well as I would have liked.

The finish came off the “on/off” button within one month and sometimes it is difficult to turn on. The button feels cheap. I have had my set for about 8 months and the battery struggles to hold a charge long enough to get through one shave.

When I look online, I can’t buy just the handle/battery to replace it. I have to buy a whole new kit, full of things I already have. I will not do that and if the handle does, so will my business. Fix these issues and you will have the best shaver on the market.

After a few uses of the motor shaver; the motor shaver no longer wants to work. Recharging is very weak. I’ve bought three shavers with the product. Without a stronger shaver motor, the extras don’t matter.

I keep notifying Freedom Grooming about this weak motor product but they do not care. They just keep selling a product not worthy of its promotion. Once you improve on the spinning motor’s power and its battery length of life while using”; you will have a great product.

I am a super hard person to convince or experience products working as they are advertised. Especially when it comes to things like this, things such as skin care, supplements, etc. I am SUPER skeptical and always dissatisfied as well as disappointed on 99.

9% of any and all care products out there except deodorant as that obviously works LOL. HOWEVER! This stuff is AMAZING!!!!!! I love having a shaved head but HATE HATE HATE irritation. Nothing ruins a smooth sexy look like a few unexpected red flair ups! I shave my head EVERYDAY, yes everyday.

I do not like to be the guy with a shaved head where you can see the stubble growing back, just makes you look old and not tailored (especially if you shaved your head because you were thinning because stubble shows your hair pattern and looks ******).

The only down fall of shaving your head everyday is every now and then your head will get irritated or you didn’t realize your razor dulled and it causes rashing which can be ****. This product stops 95% of that if not more! I actually look forward to jumping out of my shower and immediately putting this on my scalp, it is like a therapeutic treatment every morning! It immediately removes any and all irritation.

Great aftershave. Smoothes and soothes skin!

Using the original Clubman after shave as a reference, it’s similiar. It has a more subdued, less sweet smell. Does smell good. It’s more faint and doesn’t last too long. I use it more liberally as a splash.

While I like many of clubman’s fragrances, this is NOT one of them. WAY too musky (not the good kind), and a very small amount is too much! Had to take a shower to get rid of the smell. Clubman’s Gents Gin, Brandy Spice and Whisky Woods are far better choices.

Any product by Clubman is going to be good and this aftershave is no exception. The smell of this stuff is excellent and you don’t need to use much to tone up your face / neck after you’re done shaving.

I bought this for my son at Christmas knowing he likes Terre d’ Hermes aftershave. He said this aftershave balm is very smooth and comforting on his skin. He has a dry skin and finds this product to be very soothing on his face.

My husband’s go to lotion. Not greasy, smells great helps with tight feeling skin especially in the winter. He has some allergies but even though this is a scented balm he has no problems. Highly recommend, worth every penny!.

This balm is very refreshing on the skin. It stops the horrid feeling of tightness after a shave as it is supposed to. The beautiful smell is an added bonus and does last for a fair amount of time unlike some others that I have used.

I ordered for my brother after reading reviews online and the smell is gorgeous. Can’t compare the smell to naything else but it’s very fresh and distinctive. My brother loves it. Only criticism is that it’s splash on not spray.

Wow! This line of post-shave gels is fantastic! After buying this one first, I ordered three others almost immediately. It’s a bit expensive, but worths every penny. Really soothing and hydrating for the skin, it gets absorbed quite rapidly without leaving a greasy residue.

The scent is light and understated, but goes on all day, and is made with essential oils, so the smell is very natural. No synthetics here!.

There is very little scent to this, especially when compared to the post shave cologne that I had. The trace that is there, lasts but an instant, in comparison. As a post shave balm, it works, but not good value for money, in my opinion, and so, can not recommend it.

I havenever used post-shave gel before, though I like post-shave balm, which is usually nively scented. This is nice stuff. It feels good, but the scent is much more subtle that the shaving cream of the same.

I have a terribly sensitive skin that prevents me from even thinking about shaving and initially bought this a few years ago when my skin became very irritated after a haircut and lineup. It was recommended by one of the staff from Shoppers at Queen and Beverly and I was in disbelief of the comfort it provided within minutes of applying.

Compact bottle and simple dispensing and with no pumps to fail. Availability in store is becoming a hit and miss but it seems to be available online. That doesn’t help in emergencies though when you’re caught away from home and in need of comfort.

if that’s the case with you, I’d recommend BIOTHERM’s Homme Ultra Confort, a pricier and bulkier alternative but equally effective. Would be interested in seeing one without the usual lauryl sulfate agent but for the frequency I use this, I’m not overly concerned.

I have previously purchased this product 5 times and it tastes wonderful. Miss-print in Walmart product details which says 0 gms. of sugar…actually, there are 18 gms. of sugar!

My husband has very rough pores and had a hard time finding cream for his daily shave. I have used clarins for over 2 decades. Tried to introduce clarins men products to him before but he thought it’s too pricey.

Finally I convinced him to give it a try, the results proved the product worth its value. His pores no longer feel rough and his facial skin condition improves significantly.
