Smartwool has been the only brand sock I wear for years. Always has been worth every penny. Until now. These are thin and flimsy – they will not hold the shape and do not fit your feet. The reason to buy quality socks is that they will really fit and help reduce blisters.

These actually slip down and the corner seem was unraveling before washing them. Pulling them on – if you pull them up a little rough – the corner splits apart. I have socks from smartwool that have hiked 100’s of miles and do not even seem worn down, let.

alone unravel or easily split at the corner seem. Even the unpadded thin socks. Please go back to manufacturing the right quality. PLEASE!!!!.

I wasn’t so sure about wool socks at first, figured they’d be itchy and hot. Darn Tough has figured out how to make a high quality Merino wool sock feel soft and comfy just like a cotton sock. I can walk for hours on trails in waterproof boots, no sweat or discomfort.

I can run for miles on the street, no sweat or discomfort. These socks in particular are ultra thin, but they don’t feel like ultra thin quality. It’s still a top notch quality sock, just ultra thin.

What I mean, and it’s hard to explain in this review, is the sock is still a top quality piece of material stitched together just right and doesn’t cut any corners because it is ultra thin. I have six other pairs of Darn Tough socks to compare these to, a couple others are also ultra thin.

They are rad. My feet stay warm when it’s damp and chilly outside, yet I don’t have those big bulky socks we’re all used to wearing to keep our feet warm. Another thing I thought was made up was how they don’t stink or have an odor.

Sure enough, this is true too. I can wear these socks for hours, and sometimes more than one day, and they still don’t smell bad. Sure, they smell like I’ve been wearing them for two days but it isn’t s gross stinky smell that makes you cringe.

I’m fairly certain one could consider these socks one of the wonders of the world. They are great and will leave you too wondering. how did they do this?.

I really love the way these socks fit (no show tab ultra-lightweight). I normally buy the female socks, but also have bought the mens because I like the color (darker mixed blues). My shoe size is female 7.

5. The women’s size small is on the snug side for me, but still ok. I prefer women’s size medium for a little extra stretch. I also wear the mens small(for colors not available in women’s), however, it’s a touch longer than my foot.

Although mens’ is a tad long on me, the stretch of the sock helps pull to conform to my foot, and makes it not noticeable in my day to day wear. I like that these socks wick moisture. It’s difficult wearing other socks I own made of other materials after wearing these- no comparison on keeping my feet dry.

This company provides quality! Love the cushioned tab top- it prevents my shoe rubbing me. I machine wash on a “wool” setting, and hang dry. I will continue buying this product probably until this is all I have in my sock drawer.

These socks are definatly better than most, but unfortunately I’m just not very impressed with them. The black looks really solid on mine right now which is nice. These are a slight different style than I usually get, but they are very similar and I like them about as much.

I’ve bought darn tough socks before and absolutely loved them. I don’t know if something changed in the last few years or what. The ones I got a few years ago are actually a bit big for my feet, but these ones seem too short (and maybe slightly narrow for my very wide feet).

That might be why they don’t seem quite as comfortable or cushy to me. They also don’t seem to prevent as much smell (still more than my other socks though. It could be just me. I don’t know. Overall they are solid, but not as great as they have been in the past for me.

I am working on managing and reversing my Type 2 Diabetes. A large part of this involves various types of exercises, for which diabetic socks are useful. However, after a while mine unraveled and became stretched out.

I went to my local store to look at another brand for replacements, but stumbled across these. When I read that they were meant for activities that are rough on your feet, they grabbed my attention. Even though running is not one of the activities I participate in (I lift weights, do some cardio and also walk for miles), I still bought them because they looked well-made and had what I call a “Goldilocks” amount of cushioning – not too much, not too little, but just right.

I chose “Medium” size because I wear between an 8. 5 – 9 in athletic shoes; I also have wide feet and lower arches now. It turned out to be one of the best decisions ever! If you are reading this review (thank you!) and have Diabetes or just want non-binding socks, please check this brand out.

The cushioning helps avoid chafing; there is a seam at the top, but it is very faint. I have not had the issue I had with other types of socks where the inside seam rubbed against my toes so much that it caused damage to the nails.

The fabric is very comfortable in hot or cold weather and environments. The ankle height cuff does not slide down nor does it cut off your circulation from being too tight. As a bonus, they are not slippery on the bottom, so if you even want to just buy a pair of these to kick back in, you don’t have to worry about sliding all over the place.

I will be actively looking to buy more from other local locations. My only wish is that they came in a multi-pack as I’ve seen online.

I’ve been wearing these since ’07. I drive a truck, do oilfield work, run big equipment, all of which are hell on socks. My first full length pair lasted 11 years, 11 years of hell. Oilfield trucks are often hell on the left foot.

Too many miles, too old and the clutches are like pushing a bull through a trailer door. Boots, really good boots, last a year and the left one is worn out. These things have saved my life for more than a decades and they just keep on keeping on.

They let the sweat go through when you have good boots that let the sweat go too. I used to go through a pair of regular cotton socks in 2 days at times. When I got a chance to not constantly shift they’d last a month.

maybe. I went through all sorts of brands and get slightly better results. I just tried a pair of these one day even though they were expensive. I couldn’t believe the comfort nor the durability. They were the best thing in my lift including heavy Wranglers, all the HD shirts, everything I wore.

If you need some comfort and work hard, this sock can’t be beat.

I’ve been wearing these for years and they helped me overcome horrible problems with blisters on the strike pads of my feet; no matter what, I always started getting blisters at about the 4 mile mark of walking.

These still seem to still be the most padded socks on the market and even with all the newer well cushioned shoes, I’m afraid to try anything else. The down side is I consistently get holes in my big toe.

I thought maybe it was just me, but another friend says she has the same problem. I try to catch early and can darn, but it’s frustrating. I have other brands, including Thorlo Expedia that I wear for other uses and those never get the holes as do the original Thorlo’s.

That is the reason I downgraded a star.

I feel a little bad giving these socks a poor review, because I like the ‘idea’ of Bombas. But I bought these for my husband, daughter, son in law, and myself as Gift Sets, and individual socks as well (Muhammad Ali edition etc).

All of them were way too small and shrank on top of that. I have a small size 5 women’s shoe size but all the small socks were very tight. I did send 2 pairs back for mediums and they are still very tight.

Nobody in my family can wear their Bombas. They shrink badly on top of it, and the quality seems lesser than what I can find in Wal Mart or off brand socks.

I knew these socks would be comfy and look good as I have previously purchased bombas and trust them. But wow. How are they even better than I thought they could be?! The honeycomb design in the middle HUGS your feet.

The material is super soft. These are 100% by far the best socks I’ve ever worn. So happy with this purchase and will continue to come back to bombas for all socks.

I bought these socks a month ago and have worn them a few times. Like other Bombas socks I’ve purchased these look good and feel better. These are high quality and you can really tell the difference when you put them on compared to other brands.

They’re snug, but not too tight; mine don’t fall but also don’t leave an indention mark on my legs.

disappointed that it was advertised as 1 black pair and 1 white. White socks are not ideal but thought, okay, as my son really liked them. The pack turned up with 2 pairs of white socks??

I’ve heard about these socks for years, but have always owned other brands (which I like). I decided to splurge some birthday money on some new hiking/backpacking socks and picked up these DT quarter cushion socks, and just recently used them on a strenuous hike around the Mt Sterling Loop in GSMNP which is not super long at ~17 miles, but includes >4,000′ of elevation gain to Mt Sterling, and then back down, so a good sock is important.

On the almost trivial side, but important to me, these socks slide on really easily. I hate trying to wrangle super tight socks onto my feet! But, though they go on nice, they aren’t loose which could induce blisters.

Also trivial, they match my La Sportiva Wildcats pretty well 😉 In terms of actual performance, they were fantastic. I never thought about my feet being hot or cold, which is a nice thing not to think about.

And while I started to feel a bit of a hot spot on my big toe in the last mile or two of the hike, I never got a blister. I should note that I try to keep my pack <22-23 lbs and hike in trail runners.

If you’re a more “traditional” backpacker with weights closer to 30 lbs or up, these socks may not have enough cushioning for you. As far as their famed durability goes, I guess time will tell, but I’m very happy to have these in my sock quiver now.

I bought two pairs of the Quarter Midweight Hiking Socks. I purchased these assuming they fell into the category of “buy it for life” type items. Obviously no sock truly is, but from reading other reviews (many of which are rave ones) and knowing the brand has a strong following, I was very confident is spending a premium for these socks.

Unfortunately they really fell short of my expectations. One pair had multiple small holes within the first couple of months. The other pair, while no holes appeared, has worn quicker than expected. To be fair, I have rather large feet – size 12W – and am fairly active, but still thought the quality was lacking for the price paid.

I would caution those with wide feet that these socks fit extremely snug to the point of discomfort when first putting them on. That discomfort subsides after a walking in them for a bit, but still is not ideal.

I wish I had a better experience like so many have, but the socks I received did not meet the high standards I believed Darn Tough represented.
