20 Best Bras For Post Mastectomy (2022 Updated)

I bought this purely because it was front fastening. It doesn’t give much support, and it doesn’t fit properly. Measured at 40E, the ladies in the shop ordered the size they thought would fit best. I must say it doesn’t pinch around the back, so it’s comfortable there, but no support and not fitting properly (I look like I have boobs with double chins!) mean I wouldn’t buy another one.

Not worth anywhere near £50. Doesn’t wash particularly well either at 30 degrees centigrade. On the plus side, it is soft against the skin. Order delivered to my home when they said it would be, didn’t change it because there basically isn’t an alternative.

Bravissimo, you need better front fastening bras for the bigger lady!.

Online chat, I think Claire at Bravissimo. I have fractured my shoulder and elbow and it was impossible to get a bra on. Then we decided the Peony Hook and Eye was worth a try because the strap was detachable.

This bra is awesome, with my cup size I cannot be braless and so this bra enabled me to get independently dressed and undressed. Thank you Claire for taking the time to help me find the right product for me.

This bra isn’t just for post op ladies. I could step into it fully fastened pull it up and fasten the detachable strap over my injured shoulder. Lovely soft fabric too.

Following a double mastectomy with breast reconstruction in April 2022 I purchased this black bra as well (having already got a white one). For me the bra has to be worn 24 hours a day for 3 months and they are so comfortable and very easy to wash.

I even forget that that I have it on as it is so comfortable. This bra provides lots of support with no digging in. It has a comfortable band and as the swelling decreases you can alter the straps and eyelets very easily.

Highly recommended.

I bought this as a replacement for the bra that was no longer stocked in a mastectomy outlet and I am glad I found the same one on the figleaves website! It is very comfy being cotton and the neutral colour means I can wear it under dark or light coloured tops.

This is without doubt my most favourite comfortable everyday bra. Also being cotton cool during the summer.

I had to re-order three times. I normally wear a 36B. It fit like a 32. Finally after the third time I got a 38A. It’s still too tight for comfort, but I just kept it and will be miserable for the little time I need to wear it.

Very comfortable, has a great shape, no wire, nice breathable lining, sturdy straps, keeps the prosthetics in place, highly recommend.

I broke my arm near the top of the bone and have been absolutely incapacitated! I immediately went on Dillards. com to find a bra I could put on and found this one, which has been a lifesaver! I have not had any breast surgery but still needed a comfortable bra that I had a prayer of fastening – the five hook and loop closures are in the front — and this bra fit the bill! So glad to find it comfortable, too! There’s no wiring but it it is still supportive and comfortable enough that I could sleep in it if I had to.

It’s nicely made with high-quality, soft fabric. I recommend it to all women because it’s wonderful to wear when you don’t want anything with a tight binding — wonderful for evenings and weekends around the house.

I kind of guessed on the sizing and it was perfect! Don’t hesitate to buy it — all women need something like this. Love it!.

I had my BR done last week. I was given a compression bra by my doctor but I also bought this one myself. I find this one to be much more comfortable. The velcro straps are great as well as the 3 sets of closures at the front.

The only complaint is that the band keeps flipping up. It is a bit annoying as it is near my stitches are. A longer, more tank top like option would be good. The seams along the breast also make it look as though I am nipping out.

However, I am not concerned about this during my recovery. I will continue to wear it especially while sleeping and when at home for the next 6 months. I will look for an alternative when having to go out.

Bought and will be returning. As someone who wears a h cup I’ve found it really hard to find wired nursing bras that don’t look like they should be worn by an OAP. I was so excited when I found this.

What it doesn’t say is that in the larger cups the shoulder straps are about twice the width of those pictured and even have an extra wide padded shoulder pad. Kind of making the lacey cup a waste. Still looks like a nan should wear it.

Maybe those with smaller cup size might be more pleased. Such a shame.

I ended up buying 3 Anita bras as nothing else came close to fit & comfort and I have lived in them for over a year! Well worth the investment as you could be feeding for a while and very functional.

The Fleur actually gave me a good cleavage & shape which is so important when you fancy wearing something normal/mildly sexy again post pregnancy. Highly recommend.

Looks better than your standard non wired nursing bra, but of course, it isn’t as comfortable. I had forgotten the feeling of the wire pressing against my ribs. but never mind. It is nice to wear a real bra again, one that actually hold you up.

I am a 32GG and it holds well. I have only had it for a couple of weeks now, so I can’t say how durable it is.

I had a mastectomy and initially found this wasn’t quite firm enough with full enough coverage. Comfortable with hooks and not poppers for closure which I think are essential. However this bra came into its own after I would say 4 weeks when the worst bruising and soreness had gone away (yes lucky I know) and I needed some comfortable abut decent support, particularly at night.

Frustratingly Anita do a very expensive (c£125) but excellent (comfortable, firm) post surgery bra but I have not found it for retail sale in the UK. The surgeon gave me one. However this was the best of the post surgery bras I could find online for UK retail.

I did not have a mastectomy, but did have a lumpectomy and lymph node removal. After that chemo and radiation. I had severe swelling with lymphedema and couldn’t stand an underwire bra. I have spent a small fortune on bras and wish I had found this one first! Soft, no rubbing under the arms, front close which makes it easier to put on and molds to your breasts, even though one is a larger size, no gapping on the smaller breast.

NO wires!! Yeah!! I am very happy with this purchase.

I did not think the quality of this item matched up to the price. Also, I found the sizing too small.

This is a very comfortable bra, which is something I need after having surgery. It is supportive enough, and I don’t feel it pinching me anywhere. It’s pretty, too! I’d definitely buy it again.

It’s a pretty bra but my girls just did not fit in it. I’m a 38DD and that measurement was taken by a Maidenform employee who sold me Bali Bras about 2 or 3 yrs ago that smoothed all over without a wire.

I ordered this because I could not seem to find the same bra on your website.

Although I didn’t have breast surgery it was recommended by the assistant at a Hanes outlet store. I had to use the loosest hook as it ran a little snugger than other bali bras but it fit so beautifully I took it anyway.

I ordered more through this site. There’s some sort of firm ridge underneath the breast that lifts the girls up very effectively. Very impressed. Of course the price here beats any retail store.

I bought this for my post mastectomy and reconstruction surgery. It’s very soft and comfortable against the skin and didn’t irritate the skin. I also wore these at night for the first three weeks and it was very comfortable.

I am in between a size 10-12. I found the size 12 more comfortable straight after surgery as fitted well over bandage and drains.

I had a lumpectomy several years ago and lost a great deal of tissue in one breast, especially after radiation. It is very difficult to find a balance between 2 very different breast sizes, so I need a bra with pockets which allows me to use a breast form on one side.

This bra is the best I’ve found for this purpose. it is attractive, comfortable and reasonably priced. I have ordered 2 so far and plan to order more.

Unlike another wireless bra I bought from Zulily, I do not like this one. The lower edge rubs. It is really very stiff and not comfortable.

Fits really nicely. I am 30F/32E and I got a 32E which fitted perfectly. I bought this after a breast reduction so needed a non wired bra. Nice and soft. Really nice shape. Some have said it’s pointy and cone shaped – I would say they look perky – very nice shape!.

It’s my favorite! Very comfortable and holds my breast prosthesis well. Lace trim creates such a feminine look.

This is the best mastectomy bra I’ve found. It is soft and comfortable. The fabric is higher in the underarm area and therefore is more comfortable and adds needed compression.

Following a mastectomy I tried lots of bras in a store and this one suited me the best. Found the same at HOF online for a better price and they refunded the VAT when I queried it

I went to a specialty bra store about two years ago and purchased this type of bra (40A) because of broad back and cup size, for cleavage and small breast. Can’t find 40A in stores. Anita Tanya Bra is the one that I like, so far.

The most comfortable bra I have ever worn. Good coverage, too.

This bra was not what I expected. It had 5 clasps and I wanted only three. The cup size was bigger than I anticipated for a 34C, yet it was tight around my body and I had to stretch it to fit around me.

The straps were very wide and they appeared smaller in the picture. I was very disappointed in the bra. Overall, the quality of the bra was poor.

Pretty and comfortable, not too high under the arms if you’ve had a sentinel node biopsy. Twice the price elsewhere. Thank you for this excellent product!

I ordered the Delilah bra in Ivory three days ago, and today it was delivered. I am amazed at the quick service. I had a double mastectomy with immediate reconstruction after my second bout with breast cancer in 2006.

For the last several years, I have been wearing Hanes pullover bras, because I just can’t deal with underwire bras anymore. Those work, sort of, but are pretty shapeless, and don’t work well under nicer tops or blouses.

I think this bra will fill that need quite nicely. I don’t need the modesty insert (I have no nipples), but they add just a bit of shaping, which is nice. I like the smoothness of the cups. I will probably wear it with the straps crossed in back, as I have sloping shoulders, which means straps often fall down.

The only thing I’m not liking is the slight itchiness of the upper lace inserts against my skin. The lower lace is fine, the upper lace is a bit on the scratchy side. For my next purchase, I will select a style that is even smoother.

Over all this bra is definitely a keeper and I would buy another if it came in the tan/sand color! I purchased the Delilah in XL. I am 6′ tall with a proportionally long torso and my bra size is 36D.

I had a unilateral modified radical mastectomy in 2014. Due to my height finding comfortable bras with long enough shoulder straps that did not drag the bra up onto my ******* was hard enough before cancer.

The last 6 1/2 years it’s been just about impossible. I’m not a huge fan of lace, I always find it to be a bit scratchy and it is with this bra a bit too. Not terrible but I won’t be wearing this bra in situations where I’ll be working out – outdoors in hot weather, sweating which makes lace unbearable if you are on the more sensitive side like me.

Pros and Cons below. Stay Strong Ladies! We’ve got this! Pros: -The shoulder straps are wide and long enough for a tall lady and proportionally long torso -For ladies that had to have multiple lymph nodes removed this bra does NOT put a lot of pressure on the area just below the arm pit that tends to swell and be tender -The material of the body of the bra is very soft -The bra is very well made -It has light support, enough to hold my light weight breast form in place -It is very pretty on.

I think it will be flattering to most figure types. -You can wear it with v neck shirts! Cons: -The lace, in my 50 years of wearing bras, I have never gotten along with lace on the skin. I’m always aware of it when it touches skin.

BUT this is personal preference and not a deal breaker for an otherwise fantastic bra. -The stitching around the inside edge of the arm holes is not very soft, it’s a bit scratchy as well if your very sensitive, if you have the ‘dog ear’ from radical mastectomy/lymph node removal, or if you are close to or going through radiation which includes the area under your arm pit you may notice it too.

-Colors – would LOVE to see the tan/sand color in the bra too! Cannot wear this under my light colored summer shirts.

I love this bra so much. It is so soft and comfortable. I usually wear it flat but I love the option of using foam inserts as well. I never have an issue with the foam padding moving around or looking disheveled or weird under my clothes.

I love this design because it doesn’t irritate my scars – and I feel more comfortable with the shape of this one as there is material across the front. It’s not too low cut and also not too high so I can wear most tops with it.

I bought the black and the rose color, and I wear them when I need to layer a bit to smooth out the shape of my chest. I am so excited to purchase the ivory as well!.

Bought these with a friend who underwent a double mastectomy and is waiting for reconstruction. She has temporary implants stitched to the muscles for support. These bras have been a lifesaver – she wears them 24 hours.

Soft, comfortable, and help support both tender skin and the implants so they don’t pull so much on the stitches. They will come in handy all the way through the reconstruction process, hopefully soon! Even better than the bras was the sweet, supportive, and compassionate service from the sales person.

This is my second post surgical bra and I am so pleased. After surgery I was so sensitive to almost anything on my skin but this bra was like putting on a cashmere sweater, incredibly soft. Was such a comfort during this trying time to remove the scratchy, incredibly tight bra they put on you after surgery and replace with this soft, supportive, comfortable bra from Soma.

I am so happy that my daughter introduced me to this bra!.

Bought this bra for my breast reduction recovery period. It’s not a bra I would recommend as a regular bra for the recovery, I bought it for breaks between the bulky ones you need to wear. The fabric is so soft and not noticeable under t shirts especially with the dip front.

Sometimes the band rises up which can irritate my stitches but I think this is because I needed a smaller size to get better support. The cups are also small, but because of swelling I’m sure this will fit better at some point.

I’m only in week 1 recovery so I think I will use this bra more when I’m not so sensitive.
