20 Best Buy Xenoblade Chronicles X (2022 Updated)

This game is so good! I never got round to playing Xenoblade 2 when it released so I’m catching up and I’m loving every minute of it. I’ve reached Mor Ardain and I’m floored by the incredible environment design of every area I’ve come across.

The character designs I find really charming and the combat is so layered that it never gets boring. I love pulling off combos and specials and mix n matching different Blades. The music is incredible! My god.

Story is great so far too. I won’t lie, it’s made me shed a few tears. I want to know what happens next but also torn on raising town’s star level before I proceed lol. Love this game so much. Thank you, Nintendo.

Ill go straight to the point with this review. Combat system is good, and easy to understand, but tutorial is bad. It takes ~20 hours for the game to tell about all the features of combat system, that you can explain in 10 minutes easily.

Graphically game is controversial: design is good, world looks beautiful, but resolution is bad. Im not really sure about that, but it feels like game runs in 720-900p in docked mode and ~480p in portable mode.

Story initially looks a little bit promising, but constant deus ex machinas, setups for story twists that are showed in flashbacks AFTER twist happened make story feel bad when youre coming closer to the end of the game.

Also, characters sometimes act not how they would want to act, but how scriptwriter wants them to act. One last thing to discuss – anime style(I havent played XC X, but as far as I know anime style was first introduced in the series in this game).

I have no problem with anime style, there are lots of anime that I love, but I dont like the way of XC 2 doing the anime style. I need to clarify, anime style is not only about design style, but also about how characters behave.

If you are familiar with anime, you will see many bad cliches, and if youre not, sometimes you will see really stupid scenes. For example(its kinda spoiler, but Ill try to conceal it as much as possible), at some point one of the characters will confess his/her love to another characters in a very literal way.

And, of course, the person that was confessed to misinterprets that. I hope my review will help you decide if you will like this game or not. 7/10.

No means a bad RPG, there’s a whole lot for your buck. Took around 70 hours to complete the main story, and still, there is a lot more to explore and do. (Add this to the fact, that there’s an Expansion Pack DLC with even more content.

Though you would have to pay an extra $30) Gameplay-wise, there’s not much to do initially. Later down the road, it gets interesting. Though preparing/maintaining your party can be quite a hassle. Overall, it’s a complex system, so newcomers to the RPG-genre in general might feel overwhelmed by the amount of information, though are most-definitely capable of playing/enjoying this game.

Story-wise, the entire plot is interesting in itself with, once again, much more crazy things to happen down the road. Though there were moments where it felt like the story could’ve progressed a lot faster than it was going, essentially wasting your time.

A majority of the characters are memorable and likable, though I still can’t advocate for the English voice acting (there’s a DLC for Japanese VA as an alternative). I suppose it’s a staple for JRPGs and I would believe that this story won’t disappoint.

Though I am a bit urked by the design choices for a majority of the female characters. Environment-wise, the game is gorgeous. Many diverse, eye-catching places and most of all, the music. Probably the best thing out of this game.

As others have said, this is the U. A. E. /Saudi Arabia/Malaysia region version. Fortunately, it will indeed work on US Wii U consoles. The disc content is the exact same as the North American region version.

I was able to play, update the game and install the free DLC from eShop which cuts down on load times. The only difference is that the box art has slight alterations but it still features English text on the front, back and spine.

If you’re just looking for a brand new, official and working physical copy in English to play you can’t go wrong here. It’s a great option for those who have held off on buying the game until now. Of course you can spend an extra $15-20 dollars getting a NA version on eBay if you’re picky about your collection, but the resell value won’t make a difference unless you keep it sealed.

If you’re okay with adding Nintendo Selects versions to your library then this copy’s box art won’t stick out so much.

If you love exploring a huge open world where you have absolutely zero boundaries on where you can go then this game is definitely for you! A very facinating story, many quests that can give you hours more of playtime and even unlock new playable characters, a world that is even bigger than Breath of the Wild, a very fun take on the classic Xenoblade combat, and big flying mechs that allow you to fight massive beasts and bosses.

Easily my favorite game I’ve played in a long time if not ever!.

This is a great Wii U game to have on disc as it is one of the largest games on the console (around 22 GB). The in-game world is massive, and due to the immense scale of the game, I find it highly unlikely that this game will be ported to the Switch like Tropical Freeze, Mario U, or Pikmin 3.

All of the DLC for the game is just a series of free data packs that you can install to your Wii U’s internal storage or external USB storage to speed up and reduce load times from the disc. I would say that only the first pack is really necessary, but the game does look and run noticeably better with all of the data packs installed, so it’s a good option if you have the space available.

The only annoyance I would point out is that the game tries to connect to Miiverse on every startup when the console is online, and since Miiverse is discontinued, the “Miiverse has ended” error text always appears, and this error text box can only be dismissed on the Gamepad’s touchscreen only, which is a bit annoying to do if you’re playing with the Wii U Pro Controller.

Overall, I would say that Xenoblade Chronicles X is an excellent value (I paid around $25) for a massive open-world game that you won’t find on any other console.

I bought the switch for my son and the first few games we played were luigis mansion 3, Mario odyssey and then Zelda awakening and breath of the wild. Then this game bc it was supposed to be comparable to Zelda.

Zelda was by far the most fun I’ve had playing an rpg. Within 30min of playing this game I was so disappointed. The movement is awkward, the scenery is nice but nothing is interactive. The battles are brutal.

You die without even so much as a movement from the enemy. Sorry but if you like this game then I’m guessing you haven’t tried zelda yet. Oh and the sound of walking on pavement will drive you bonkers.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is an epic conclusion to the story started in the first game, and even carries on the themes and parallels the original Xenogears. The combat is the best the series has had, and the world is vast and beautifully designed.

The main six cast are all incredibly deep and human, while also retaining the comedic charm of past Xenoblade party members. I should also mention I felt the Hero system was a vast improvement over the Blade system from 2.

It allowed much more character depth than the blade quests, and the heroes all had enough side content, including their ascension quests, to make them feel like real characters in the world. The plot was gripping, with an intense emotional climax in the fifth chapter.

Some elements of the last two chapters did feel a bit weaker, but they still delivered satisfying callbacks (in the inclusion of Nia and Melia from previous titles) and a tearjerking conclusion. I’m excited to see where the additional story in the expansion pass will take us.

I never quite clicked with all the previous games in the series. Some of that was timing, some of it was the hardware and some was just the previous games never quite say smooth with me as a veteran gamer.

Xenoblade 3 though, so far has been superbly designed. It’s finally a bit more grown up with English voices (not American) although the original Japanese voice overs are here too. It maybe on Switch and that’s quite the steep drop technically when playing on a SX and PS5 but somehow X3 works so well on Switch.

It feels good, looks good for the hardware and sounds incredible. no surprise with Mitsuda’s involvement in the soundtrack. I am nowhere near to completing the game. It’s constantly offering new things, new mechanics and choices.

Combat is fun,fast and progressive. Exploration is vast. story beats are extremely well produced and written. This time an Xenoblade game has clicked with me. Hopefully I will get time to get through this large adventure?.

What you’re seeing with other reviews is called the “honeymoon period” – you know, fresh out of the gate, people think it’s better than it is. Put it this way: If they had NOT called it “Xeno_____” anything, this would actually be a decent game.

Not a great game, but a decent game. You’re basically dealing with the illegitimate kid of Tales of Arise crossed with Final Fantasy X-2, if X-2 actually had men in the party and the girls didn’t bother trying to be sexy at all.

It’s NOT a Xeno____ game other than the battle engine, which is a cross between XBC1 and Torna, with a pinch of Future Connected. What you have here is an overreaction to the negative feedback around the fanservice of XBC2, where a slim minority of sensitive folks couldn’t handle the very light-hearted, yet dark, story that XBC2 handed down, and many of them completely ignored or underrated Torna: The Golden Country, which would fix nearly everything wrong with the main game.

I thus went into 3 hoping they would simply take what they learned with Torna and expand it – complete with actual character development and women acting like women. Instead, what you have is a very involved story that.

just isn’t a Xeno____ game. In fact, it fails to do anything to really expand upon what we received even in Future Connected (XBC1), so that whole segment is essentially now a plot hole. So, if you’re new to the series, none of that will bother you, but you’ll definitely sense the blandness of characters eventually and if you played Tales of Arise, you’ll see the obvious parallels, down to swords being pulled out of whatever.

If you’re not new to the series, I’ll put it this way. Is it better than. Xenoblade Chronicles 1? YES. By far. Future Connected? NO. Future Connected was WAY better than the base game. Xenoblade Chronicles X? It’s subjective.

I thought X was terrible, but it has a following for its “freedom”. If freedom is what you like. then no, X is better because 3 gives you very little freedom for at least the first 10 hours of the game and even then, all but two maps are late game, basically fancy corridors like Final Fantasy XIII, but “outside”.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2? NO. Battle engine is better, chain attacks are better, it’s longer. but it’s not a better game. Torna: The Golden Country? NO, absolutely not. Some complained about the “forced” quests, don’t see why that’s worse than XBC3 having too many quests and basically requiring you do half of them.

Torna is easily the best of the series at this point. Also. the cover art is grossly misleading.

Xenoblade 3 is about average at best and it’s all thanks to the terrible subtitles for those that like these games with Japanese audio. Commander dying and have the character screaming out their name? Instead of the clearly said name of the Character dying they instead use “Ma’am” as the subtitles! Sounds like good solid subtitle work right? Seriously the game mechanics are fun and overall the game would for me be at least a 4/5 but the subpar subtitles holds it back a lot along with the game stuttering and glitching 3-4 times.

Comparing this game to the last title also let’s it down in my opinion. While not nearly as let down by it as by the subtitles the way the game handles fan service takes a nose dive. I have no problem with this to an extent but I wish they had more fan service style clothing you could unlock in the game and wear optionally.

TL:DR game mechanics are decent but game subtitles are subpar and compared to Xenoblade 2 the fan service is gone with no option to even have it. 3/5 at best.

The fact that I paid a price like that WITH a case Is insane. If I paid $70 (Fees included) for a copy of this game it would have probably been cartridge only and easily losable. The case fits snug on my game collection shelf with all the others.

The storyline and combat system used is so easy to understand and open world makes it more beautiful. Got it together with XBC2 and totally worth every money spent on it. Thank you Mighty Ape for the fast delivery.

This open world game is huge, and in most cases if you can see it, you can get on top of it. All of the exploits that could be used in the last Xenoblade Chronicles, are gone, as is being able to reload the game.

You’ll come by your levels, and treasure the honest way. Running from enemies isn’t a good idea even though the game suggests doing just that. All enemies have ranged attacks, and if they hit you from behind, you’r toast.

If you knock something off a cliff, you don’t get any points. For the most part the musical score is epic, though I don’t care for singing when there’s dialogue going on. For people expecting a tie-in to Perfect Works- don’t waste your money.

This is simply the next game in the XBC franchise, though it does share very slight similarities with Xenosaga. As with all Tetsuya Takahasi/Soraya Saga, games there’s plenty of psychology thrown in.

This game is difficult, and overly complicated. Mastering the combat system will take anyone quite some time, as will using all of the options this game offers to their full potential. I hope you liked doing quests in the last game, because that’s how you get anything accomplished in this one.

It’s a great game, though very demanding, and most people won’t finish it.

Epic game. LONG, took me about 80 hr to complete, and that’s with only enough sidequests to reach the level needed (I had to backtrack at the end). Immense amount of content, characters are interesting, story is great.

Visuals are gorgeous. Voice acting. is what it is. Great soundtrack. Highly recommended if you like RPGs, definitely one of the best on the Wii.

I’ve not been able to assign as much time to this game recently, but every time I’ve been able to, it’s been magnificent. Absolutely brilliant. Feels very much like going through the first Xenoblade Chronicles and X, but very much unique.

Setting is fantastic, every location looks amazing and there’s so much incentive to travel. Battle system is really fun also. One of those things that it’s hard to explain, but you understand it as you play it.

Never a dull moment for me so far, and can’t wait for the rest of the game to play out. Special edition is amazing. Artbook is beautiful, as is the steelbook. Soundtrack so far though, well, I’m completely blown away by it.

X gave a very different style thanks to Sawano, but to go back to the folks from the first, giving a familiar touch yet also bringing some amazing new things. ‘Gormott’ is a great ‘Gaur Plain’, although special mention must go to ‘Counterattack’; I never expected something to top ‘Confrontation with the Enemy’, which was my favourite from the first Xenoblade.

Absolutely blown away by the quality of this title. I feel that the timing has left it to slip under the radar for most people, but everyone I know who has played this has completely recommended it. So much right with this game, yet to find something I don’t like.

Well done folks. Now if we can get a Xenoblade 1 Special Edition/Remaster on Switch, that’d be neat.

I waited to play this DLC until after I finished the main Xenoblade Chronicles 2 game. The DLC story is a prequel to the main game, and I don’t think you have to play the main game first, but it will hit a lot harder if you do.

The gameplay mechanics are very simple compared to the main game, and the length is under 20 hours. Even though you play as different characters, I found that I almost liked the DLC as much as the main game.

It is pretty dark and depressing, but it adds so much to characters that you didn’t know as much about in the main game. The next time I play Xenoblade 2, I will play the DLC first (chronological order) to see the story progress in a different way.

This is DLC done right. It comes with its own game to expand on the story to some of the other characters in the game. It also adds comes with a lot of extra goodies. for the main game, and if you get it before you start the game it really helps you get started with some extra money and items.

I love Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and when I heard there was going to be a dlc prequel I was super excited! Had to buy the dlc. Very good storyline for torna the golden country. The dlc bonus goodies are great too.

The new blades pretty much make post game superbosses a cinch and the new challenge mode gives great rewards. Looking to sink a good thirty new hours into you xc2 game? Buy it! You won’t regret it.
