20 Best Car Horn Sound (2022 Updated)

I’m not a mechanic but decided to replace the original horns myself. The dealer wanted to charge me over $300, which seemed ridiculous to me. The Hella Supertones were relatively easy to install. Initially, I was thrown off by the relay that was included in the package but after some research, I figured out how to connect them.

It is a simple job if you know very basic wiring and have the right tools/materials. Overall, I’m happy with these horns. They are loud and they get ppl’s attention.

My 2016 Tacoma had on one small plastic low tone horn: cheap and weak. These horns, at 300 and 500 hertz and about 118 db, are louder and more commanding (angrier). I used the brackets on the horns to mount them to to original horn mount captive bolts on the Tacoma.

I did not cut the wire but fabricated two small wiring harnesses for power and ground. Note that these horns are not internally grounded as are the originals. I did not need to use the included relay.

These horns have far better sound at half the cost of one horns.

Probably best to fabricate your own harness using the provided relay, existing harnessing as a relay trigger, and appropriate gauge wiring to power these (I believe I used 14AWG). Using small gauge stock wiring you won’t deliver the higher amperage to get the most out of these.

Also highly recommend you add these while installing a new intercooler or piping as it’s no fun to remove the bumper assembly just for horns as is the case in the Evo X.

I recently purchased a 2020 Toyota RAV4. The first time I needed the horn, was embarrassing. Beep, beep with a smile when I needed strong honk. I went right to Advance Auto Parts and picked up ten Wolo 320-2T Max Sound horn set.

After a simple 30 minute installation, my RAV4 no longer sounds like a clown car and has a louder and deeper tone that has some authority. I did need to make two 6″ wire extensions with a spade connector on each end to reach the OEM wires without having to reroute them.

The female connectors are supplied, however I needed two male spade connectors for the wire harness end. I also picked up a 15A fuse for the horn circuit as recommended.

I expected to increase the tone and volume of my truck’s stock horn. After feeling excited upon installing them, the first blast sounded great. right in front of them. Once I heard them from inside the vehicle, the tone and volume were comparable to the stock wimpy sound.

I lived with it, and the horn was only used a couple times, one being for the state vehicle inspection. I decided to use them this weekend by pressing the panic button on my key fob to scare my kid who always has to yank on the door handle, only to find out the horns quit working.

Sadly, I’m outside of my one year warranty. Luckily, I kept my original horns. Back to stock, and I’ll avoid any future run-ins with Wolo products.

The horns comes with the hardware to mount them and some wires for grounding. There are extra wire ends for making a jumper if you don’t have it factory wired. I’m a little concerned about the way the mounting bracket attaches to the horn, I’m not sure how much to tighten them without breaking the plastic horn.

The sound is balanced well and they are loud. I hope they hold up.

Sounds like the Roadrunner of cartoons. I have no gripes about the quality although I was disappointed to see that Hella has re-located to the 3rd world, INDIA, but the horns are NOT “Extremely Loud” as advertised.

In short, they look good but sound like an old VW. “HIGH” horn and “LOW” horn sound no different despite their markings.

got this and it fit great. would 100% buy again and recommend it to anyone. Makes installs so much easier when you combine the harness,horns, and bracket. Would 100% recommend anyone to buy all 3 of these to make install very simple.

Installed this on my golf cart, pretty disappointed with the sound. I also took one reviewer’s advice and installed a 1. 6 Ohm ballast resistor. With or without the resistor, it doesn’t sound anything like the “Ahoooga” or “Ooooga” sound.

Hard to describe the sound, but it doesn’t sound like the old style horn. Great build quality and easy install, was just looking for more of the “Ahooooga” sound.

Used ‘as is’ the sound is okay, but not great. To get that old time AhOOoga sound, simply add a small ceramic ballast resistor, such as the SUM-G5218 (1. 6 Ohms) in the power wire. This reduces the voltage, slowing the motor, to make a great sounding AhOOoga horn!! I mounted the resistor using the same bolt that mounts the horn, ran the horn wire to one side and the jumper wire to the horn.

Easy as can be!.

Cheap plastic junk. Worked 6-7 times and died

I was looking for a good sounding horn for my 1978 C10, and after listening and comparing several different horns, I decided on PIAA Super Bass Horns. I am completely satisified with my purchase, and after hearing how great it sounds my brother decided he would like to add some of these to his 1965 El Camino.

bought these based on the recommendation from another van owner and they were right – these sure do make noise. slightly louder than a hadley air horn and they take up less space, so these are now the goto noisemaker for our van.

wiring was easy. just remove the existing plug from the stock harness and create a forked harness to power both horns. thanks PIAA for making some nice auto horns!.

I own a 2022 Corolla and oem horn sounded like a go cart or motorcycle born no offense. Did some research and ordered the Piaa horns WOW what a difference and Deff gets attention. Do yourself a favor and order now.

Loud sound, made the kids run away the first time but does not sound anything like a big rig. Can always upgrade with different horns tho. they did hook into my existing horn wiring without the relay so that helped with easy installation.

I bought this on line and picked it up at the store. It was easy to assemble and mount on my truck. I chose to hook it up to my existing horn button. I’ve only tried it a couple of times in my driveway and it is loud.

That being said it seems to blow better without the engine running. I think I may need to wire it differently. I’ll have to do some research.

Awesome upgrade from stock. Old horn was quiet and sounded awful. This makes sure everyone hears me.

Okay so the scooter I ride is a honda ruckus and very small. After all my mods its now also low so its hard to be seen in this scooter. I decided to go for a LOUD horn and I found this on Home Essentials Direct and.

Add to Cart! Pruchase with Prime BAM! 2 days later! So I installed it and it was pretty easy – the instructuons was pretty clear and WOW is it loud compared to my “toot toot” baby horn. PROS: PEOPLE WILL HEAR YOU Install is pretty easy – the relay wires is pretty easy to follow with the instruictions.

You just have to find aplace where it fits. It does dim my lights when I use it but its a scooter – what do you expect. CONS: PEOPLE WILL HEAR YOU but look for a 18 wheeler that honked , not the little tiny scooter Does not come with an inline fuse for the power (Recommended to do this) I was to peel all the stickers off because it is visible.

If you have a bike with fairings then no problem, naked bikes it will probably be a bit harder to hide. This was a good buy and I think it will save at some point in time. If it does ill add to this review.

I used this to boost the wimpy horn that is factory fitted to the Toyota FJ Cruiser. I used the existing mounting point and created my own loom so i didn’t cut into the factory wiring, and wired in the OEM horn in series.

This allowed the horn to function from the OEM horn switch in the centre of the steering wheel. I did need separate live feed from the battery with a 20A fuse although i have read that upping the OEM 10A to 15A can work (but i thought this a little dodgy).

I live in Dubai and road presence is very important. Very happy with the effect emitted when someone tries to cut across me. they definitely know i am there now!!! great product and i am considering getting the big bad max to replace the OEM horn.

If you ride motorcycles or have a Japanese car you might know what it’s like to have someone start to merge into you while holding down the wimpy factory horn and have them keep coming. While not foolproof these seem to greatly increase being noticed.

I didn’t realize my wife’s car had such wimpy horns until it was too late and the Escalade kept merging over. Installing new horns is faster than getting body shop estimates.

The supertones are the sound my vehicle needed. The OEM horn was very weak and couldn’t get the attention of the large SUVs. Installation is fast once the bumper cover came off. The color matched my vehicle but in some cars it may not even be seen.

Since these horns are much larger, their placement may need to be altered. In my case, I modified the OEM bracket to fit the horns behind the bumper cover. Ground wires also needed to be made (easy) and the factory power source was a perfect fit.

I did not need to use the relay that came with the horns. Check out the other styles and sounds this company makes for your perfect fit.

I purchased this air horn as an upgrade for my 2004 Armada. When the product arrived I was a little skeptical because of how small the horns were, I thought this was going to be a waste of time and money.

However I was surprised to see and hear that these little guys pack a pretty decent punch. They were louder than I thought they would be and have a nice tone. Not a bad option for the price. I would definitely recommend.

I am happy with this product. It is good value for money. It is a simple installation. Not too big so it fit well under the hood of a very pack engine well. It is loud but could be louder. It really can’t be considered a “Train Horn”.

I would recommend it if you are looking for something a bit louder then the factory horn.

Good quality compared to the plastic horns nice and loud they have a very high tone like europium horns that came on Fiats long ago.

It works fine. However the BEEP< BEEP is not as crisp as it should be. It sounds like any other old Nissan or other import. I kept it because it does work and I do not want to fool around sending it back, buying something else and reinstalling it.

It sound like a regular horn. So I got A horn that works.

Just what I needed for my early WW2 and post war Jeeps which work hard on the farm and have been converted to 12 volts. The sound is very close to original, and they look similar to the originals. The cows now get out of the way!.

One of the best quality horns Ive come across but it doesnt make the classic roadrunnerbeep beep sound. Not that loud either. More of a typical Japanese car sound.

I was looking for a horn to project a louder than factory blast. I purchased this horn to bring out the lower tone. I was able to mount quickly with the hardware provided and was excited to hear. I was then disappointed that all I got was a very low tone when I tried it.

I checked the ground wire and made sure there was nothing inside the bell that might obstruct the vibration. After about 30 minutes trying to trouble shoot in 100 plus weather, I gave up. I have not removed yet since I work out of town and I’m sure I won’t be able to return since it’s been on the vehicle through dry dusty roads and now wet roads from all of the rain.

I really can’t provide positive comments about the product since it didn’t work and I have not replaced. Maybe later or just order one on line to replace this one. Sorry!!!.

Installed easily with the supplied bracket. Wiring was easy too because I already had everything I needed, like new wire and a relay. And they are LOUD!! Better than the original in my Mustang. Works best when you purchase and install both the high and low notes.

Nice having the connectors in the package, but they should be sold as a kit with a segment of power wire and a relay too.

Works best in its final position, bench testing gives you a false sense of how it will work. With a running engine and a charging system it sounds amazing! Worth every dollar.

Well, it sounds good but the compressor is obnoxiously loud also. if you can figure out how to quiet down the compressor it would sound Awesome I had it professionally installed on my 2015 Dodge Charger and Im not % satisfied with it.

Nice and loud , got caught in a rain storm on my 3 wheeler and it still works.

Strong Beeep sound without being ridiculous . Easy to instal . Some adjustment was required because of the depth of these horns. They were fatter than the originals .

I have fitted these to a very lightweight motorcycle, a Husqvarna 701. The standard horn is a useless squeeker. While quite a bit larger, this pair of horns bolt onto the same place on the bike. I used a micro style relay and with 20 mins of wiring was good to go.

They are about as loud as a good car horn and definitely get much more noticed when i need to use them.

I wanted a bit of a boost to my Range Rovers horn so because these were a good brand and surprisingly inexpensive I decided to give them a try. So far I am pleased with them as they are noticeably loader than the original horn and they do look kind of nice when you see them through the grille as well.

Easy to wire, directions were impeccable. Perfect on a motorcycle to replace the anemic stock horn. Best motorcycle upgrade you can make. Im a left lane driver, so I mounted it on my right side. It paid for itself in a week and again a week after that.

The cars almost jump back into their lane when that thing goes off. Over loud stereos, speakerphone conversations, and d-bags with fart can exhausts this little beauty pierces through the noise and pimpslaps the drivers right out of their highway hypnosis.

The only downside is before every ride you should test your horn and that will piss off your neighbors something fierce if youre an early bird.

Love this horn. Really loud. I mounted 2 of them behind my bumper on my 2012 Ram 1500. You will not be disappointed. Wired mine to my stock horn wiring. Had to change from a 7.5 amp fuse to a 20 amp.

When I got it the box was bent bad on rhe corner and the horn was bent a little. Probably from poor shipping care but I straightened it out good thing the horn is metal but it’s loud and sounds good.

It will definitely get people’s attention.

This horn makes the right sound. Its not very loud, and is very small. The pictures made it look like it was of good size, in reality its a miniature replica of the real thing. Lower your expectations if you are considering this product.

Had a little trouble getting the horn and horn button hooked up to my golf cart. Many questions answered quickly by helpful staff. Finally works. FYI. An electric golf cart does not have a grounded frame.

Have to tap in to one of the lights. Happy, happy with product and customer support.

It’s plenty loud, better that the one at harbor freight, sounds better and feels nice and heavy. The sound is a little higher pitched than I would like it but has the full affect of the old horns.

This thing sounds like a clown horn on steroids it’s pretty much laughable! If you’re looking for a big loud train horn for scaring people on your big truck look elsewhere you will be laughed at, it is very loud however! The problem is the trumpets they are made of cheap plastic and sound like it.

However in my case I already had a name brand metal trumpet system that the air compressor went bad on and I put this compressor on my metal trumpets and it sounds just like it when it used when it workd and I’m very happy this is a good option for a replacement compressor motor for your pre-existing well made trumpet horns.

Great and easy to install. I do recommend purchasing the accessories wire harness with the switch. The people texting at green lights get moving pretty quickly with just one tap.

Its made out of plastic so I do not know how long it will last But for its price I cannot complain. Very easy to install, I actually use the wiring harness from a previous dual trumpet horn installed for years.

This Horn is described as Loud, but thats for every individuals opinion. There is no the truck sound to it, it is a high pitch to it. Serves my purpose and thats what matters to me. Would I recommend it? For under $20 worth, of coarse!.

Excellent product, exactly what I was expecting. The sound is strong and agreeable. The looks are terrific. I painted the grill on mine black and use it on a BMW vintage motorcycle.

“Must have” horn on a vehicle. Sound stands way above the rest. Loud enough for a trucky to hear over all other noise.

Nice horn set, wish they were a lower tone like the originals, these have a higher pitch sound but otherwise all good.

I bought this horn to fit on my 2012 KLR-650 motorcycle because the OEM horn is only slightly louder than a child’s harmonica (it won’t even scare squirrels off the road). Regrettably the WOLO horn is too thick to replace the OEM horn because of the confined space where the original horn fits.

But, after hooking up the WOLO horn just to see how loud it is, I’ll now troubleshoot finding somewhere under the front fairing to install this horn. I strongly recommend not having your head too close to the WOLO horn when you honk it! It will cause hearing impairment.

This horn would be easy to install on a car, truck or motorcycle that has the space for it. Wiring is about as basic as it gets.

I purchased this horn for a 2003 Ford Focus. The bracket bolt and the electrical connectors were on the opposite side of the Wolo horn compared to the factory unit that I removed from the car. I had to cut and strip the electrical wires going to horn and place new connectors on them to make the Wolo horn compatible.

This was inconvenient, but the connectors I needed were included in the Wolo kit and once I got them installed the horn went in and worked just fine. Overall I would recommend this product; it was relatively uncomplicated to install for a “universal fit” product, is very clear and loud, and meets my needs.
