13 Best Car Interior Paint (2022 Updated)

It takes a little practice to learn how to lay this paint even for an experienced body man. I had never sprayed matte Urethane before so it took a couple of attempts to acquire a smooth finish. I tiger striped it , ran it and orange peeled it.

I now have 5 coats on my truck bed Lol. Fun adjustment is definitely the most important thing when using this paint. I finally went down to 10 to 12 psi at tip and got the fan setting right ( which is a key factor) also had trouble with getting my fluid flow set right.

But at the end of the day I’m very pleased with the finished product. I used rock moss green which wasn’t dark enough so I added two quarts of black to one gallon of rock moss. One quart would probably been plenty.

It turned out a little darker than I thought it would. But I am very pleased with the outcome and very pleased with Hot Rod Flatz and TCP Global , they are a great co. to deal with. Highly recommend them.

I chose this for a 1968 C10 Resto Mod and glad I did. I get a lot of people asking about it, since it’s unusual and looks almost like a wrap. I like the fact that you’re one and done with this product – no cut and buff required and touch-ups are possible.

Two wet coats of single stage urethane as instructed produces a very nice finish. I’ve been looking forward to spraying this to match the Hot Rod Red (HRF210) steel wheels for a couple of years. Nice work Custom Shop :).

I have used this on the heads of a Norton Commando motorcycle, and on the welded over rust on irreplaceable mufflers on another classic bike. It applies very well, and it has held up nicely. It cures by heat, and I’ve been very pleased with how it has held up.

It looks new after many miles on each bike. Great stuff.

Sprayed POR-15 on a set of exhaust manifolds and several 10 foot long radiant tube heater pipes. The 300 degree cure improved the sheen and expected durability. The product does continue to emit a post cure odor in use for an extended period.

The building with the radiant tube heater had to be offline for several weeks.

I used this paint to coat the header pipes on my Goldwing. They looked a little shabby. Very nice paint texture. Slightly creamy which made it very easy to control its application. Once applied, I let it dry for 24 hours then started the bike to cure the paint like the directions said.

There was a little off-gas and odor, but it went away after a few minutes. Not to bad. I would buy this again and can recommend this to anyone needing this type paint.

Bought this to fix a. 5x. 5cm scrape. It works fine, colour is good. I’d recommend to apply this using a very light hand at first, whether using the brush or pen tip. It’s not the best finish, but it does the job.

It matched the car but when applying make sure you have wet/dry sandpaper cause it brushes on and will leave the brush streak look

This product helped me fix scratches on the car. It saved me a new paint job. Love the product

Did a interior restoration on a 1997 Jeep Wrangler Sahara. The jeep forums recommended SEM over the other brands like duplicolor. I called SEM and they were very helpful in determining the right color.

They also said I could get a custom color match made from one their distributors. The picture shows my dash faded and discoloration so bad from years of sun exposure. The last picture is the final results.

My interior looks like a new jeep, it’s amazing how good it looks and the cool is perfect match. I even used it on the metal center console, which the SEM tech said was perfectly fine. Follow instructions to the letter.

I watch several YouTube videos. 1. Removed all the pieces 2. washed them with dish soap 3. Wipe with strong plastic and vinyl cleaner. 4. Final wipe down with alcohol 5. Spray with Sand Free prep spray 6.

While sand free is still wet spray a light coat of the SEM color coat. When dry spray and 2nd coat.

The color match is a bit lighter than the cap color. Very easy to apply, used to recolor the leather armrest and insert in my Lexus. Light coats dry in ~5 minutes. Smooth and flexible, only needed ~2 coats to cover material.

Will update if durability is poor.

I’ve got a 1978 TransAm that is being restored, and I bought a can of this paint to test on some of the internal panels (camel tan). One of my buddies told me to prep well, which I did. and man, this paint works GREAT! The color is rich, looks original- easy to spray, dries fast.

I put a couple of coats on kickers/ side panels. and they literally look good as new. Working on dashboard next, ordered a few more cans. A+++ product.

Haven’t used this particular item yet, but if it’s anything like the Satin Gloss Clear Coat or any other SEM spray products, then I have no doubt that it is a quality spray and hence the 5-stars. Purchased the Low Luster because that is the sheen I used on seats my first time.

This time I am doing door & back panels, changing seats to a two-tone, and some misc plastic pieces. While deciding on which brand of LVP paint to go with, read a comment about the differences in Low Luster & Satin Gloss have on interiors.

So I chose to go with Satin Gloss, and SEM’s is the only spray I’ve used without flaws so far. From their Guide Coat to Plastic & Leather Prep to Satin Gloss Clear Coat. I seem to always have issue with spray cans of all types, i.

e. primers, paints, clear coats, adhesion promoters & paint prep, that you find locally. Which ever sheen is used, SEM’s is the best bet for your interior’s top coat.

I’m restoring a 1975 Trans Am and changing the interior from red to black. I used the SEM black Dye and used the SEM satin clear. It worked well but was a little too shiny for me so I purchased this SEM Lackluster Clear Coat.

You only need two to three light coats. Seals well and works better that other brands of vinyl clear coats. It dries quickly in between coats. End results are excellent and long lasting. Highly recommended for auto interiors.

I did prep with Vinyl Prep and used some warm water and dawn soap to clean and de-grease the parts that I am going to dye and clear. The dye and clear will stick better if you prep properly.

I’ve used the clear on several projects including plastic dash parts and the vinyl dash pad after color coats. I recommend clearing color coated parts to ensure color holdout and fade resistance. The luster is slightly noticeable and provides a nice factory finish look.

Great. I needed to paint my leather headrest. After reviewing this item in the internet, I bought soap and plastic prep from Home Essentials Direct also. I wanted to make sure that I will get the job done correctly at the first time.

I have never painted leather before. The original color was tan. I ended up not using the plastic prep. I used the soap and cleaned the headrest. I think I repeated at least two times. Wiped with microfiber cloth.

After making sure that it was dried and no lint, I start painting lightly first. A one can barely lasted for two headrests. This black color was not too shiny or flat. Perfect. So far so good. Looks like the original black leather.

Great product for freshening up black interior leather or plastic. My airbag on my Corvette started to become gummy and sticky. ( known problem) I cleaned it with goof off , wiped all the old paint off and then sprayed it with this product.

Looks perfectly new. Very pleased that I save from having to spend $$$$ for a new airbag.

Looked Like a great deal. Was trying to change color on leather seat from tan to black. Got some of the leather prep and followed the instructions. Purchased about 5 cans all in all. Things went smoothly for the first few.

There were some places in the leather I had to stretch and hold to get Dye down into cracks. These areas seemed to be problematic as the dye peeled and flaked off. I reworked them using a hair dryer to help the drying process.

I am not sure what this will be long term. Have not sat in seat for extended period. May work well on stretched vinyl or leather but if you have areas that you need dye to get down into be careful.

The paint is great both coverage and color match. The only problem I had was one can was missing the spray nozzle. I had to take it from the other. It was a good thing I didn’t throw the empty can away before realizing one was missing.

Sprays pattern is great. Make sure to always shake well to get the maximum amount of desired pressure.

used product on tire rims. would recommend 2 cans if doing all 4 rims-ran out halfway thru the first coat on tire #4. project outcome is okay, but expected different results-had to redo some of the sections on the rims due to the way the spray dried on the rims (air bubbles, dripping paint look, etc.

).

Inexpensive spray paint that works well. Black or white, gloss or flat.

05/03/2022 A little pricey but worth it. This time around I used it to repair a cat solarium. The plywood was delaminating and I used a marine grade penetrating epoxy to “blue” it back together. Then sanded lightly before applying the 2K Urethane.

Reassembled and it’s brand new. I will assume the item may well outlast me at this point. The first time I had used this product, it was for an exterior north facing door frame on a house built in 1955.

The old paint *which was painted several times always faded and flaked. The last “paint job” I did on this frame was the 2K Urethane (white gloss) and it’s been 15 years without fade or chalk. My next project will be on my 18 foot utility trailer and wrap the whole thing in “plastic” for a “no maintenance” trailer.

I’ve used a myriad of their products and they are all very good. If you have any questions before using any of the products, call first. Great customer service as well!.

Having had an outstanding result with PORs 2K previously, I bought it again. After accounting for my own errors, I give it an average rating this time. Pot life is 30 min, not 2 hours (according to POR itself).

Application was much trickier with the same equipment as before, and the surface finish was frankly poor. A thin coat was impossible to get by spraying. All that said, the result was tolerable for the machine tool I was restoring.

Past experience suggests that this finish will be very tough, very resistant to scuffing, shop fluids, and very durable. A better cosmetic result would have been nice. Tech service was superb- a great help diagnosing what went wrong and how to recover.

In the end, the result is great. Fantastic, hard finish that beads water and the color is great. However, after mixed, the coating is very difficult to work with. I was coating outside basement (bilco) doors and was using a 3 inch wide brush.

It began to harden and set up so fast that it was showing brush marks as I tried to feather the strokes together as I went across the doors. As it dried, it almost appeared to swell slightly and produce drip marks.

I found it very difficult to work with.

We are extremely disappointed in the quality of this paint. We were fans of Clark+Kensington paints up until this purchase. We had painted 6 rooms in our home with this paint in the last 10 years, with most of the rooms only requiring 1 coat to provide excellent coverage.

We are CERTAIN the formulation of this paint has changed. We purchased 2 cans recently to cover approx. 600 sq ft of space. One can is supposed to cover approx. 400-450 sq ft, so we had hoped we would have some leftover to do spot coverage if needed in the future.

The paint does not spread well at all, whether you are using a roller or a brush. We had purchased high quality trim brushes, and ended up having to purchase different rollers because the paint was coming off the wall as we were rolling it on! We have found that it has taken not 1, not 2, not 3, but FOUR COATS to cover a neutral beige that was on the wall, with a neutral off-white.

In other words, we are not trying to cover a dark color! This is ridiculous, expensive and very time-consuming! Please look elsewhere for a paint that is higher quality, because this is no longer that kind of product.

We have done numerous painting projects with many different brands of paint in the last 30 years, none have caused as much frustration or been as costly as this paint.

Over the last 30 year I have painted four homes top to bottom. I have used most ever brand of paint…Sherwin Williams, Behr, Valsphar, Pratt Lambert, Pittsburgh, etc. I brought Clark and Kensington recently because I was having trouble finding the right color.

Though the color was perfect, there is NOTHING I MEAN NOTHING flat about their “flat” paint. It has shine and has the appearance of an eggshell or satin. The paint was bought for a room that I wanted a flat appearance.

BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Over 45 years of painting home interiors, I have never had a reaction to painting before. Used this product (Clark+Kensington semi gloss) ended up with severe cold/flu like symptoms – severe throat and lung irritant – cough so bad had to go to Dr.

– issued prescriptions of prednisone, and Benzonatate, plus 1 other. Only painted 1 bathroom and 1 small laundry room – used 1 gallon and it had this effect. 🙁 3 weeks of feeling sick and still lingering).

I liked how easy and well the paint flowed and looked on mu bumper. I used this this same color before and just now used it to touch-up its look.

Unlike the “Brite touch” paint, I have always had good experience with their primers. This one was not exception.
