20 Best Car Paint Restorer (2022 Updated)

Bought this recently to try and help remove light scratches on my car caused by, guess what. Yes some inconsiderate supermarket shopper with a trolly. Easy to use, took a few attempts as I didn’t want to over rub or put great pressure on the paintwork.

Done the job and the area was as smooth as the proverbial!! and gleaming. Carried on and did the whole panel. Looks and feels great. Well pleased with this product. Service at Halfords was faultless, very helpful staff.

Very happy with product. It does exactly what it says. I had a very light scratch running from front end to back door. 10mins later you can hardly see it! The scratch is still ther but you’d have to look hard to notice it.

Excellent polish for light scratches, car wash brush marks etc, my Ford Connect looks revitalised, obviously it won’t take scratches out down to the metal, the staff did point this out to me before purchase.

This is the low aggressive grit. Perfect for light or average oxidizing. Preferably best practice is to use this product first to see if it does the job, before inadvertently jumping up to a more aggressive product.

Followed up this one with the #45 Polish. Great results after final waxing! Done on a class A Motorcoach.

Although it cleaned some marks of the caravan, I wouldn’t say it provided great results. Our van is usually under cover when stored so is not exposed to the weather continuously

Before purchasing this product, I watched many YouTube videos magically removing/repairing auto scratches with it. However, after I try on this product, I found out that those videos were more like a fraud.

This product can not remove any scratches, even the lightest ones. Don’t waste your time and money on it. Instead, WD40 is more effective in getting rid of light auto scratches.

This product does not work at all. Don’t waste your time and money. Product simply REDUCES scratch visibility. Any observer who looks more that 2 seconds will absolutely see the scratch. Furthermore, any contact with water, such as rain or a car wash will bring back the scratch to what it was.

I tried the product on a light scratch on a black rental vehicle.

Eliminates minor scratches. Works best when removing swirls in finish. Beats Turtle Wax scratch remover hands down as far as the shine goes. A little expensive considering the small size but well worth it.

1st, I have 40+ yrs of detail, paint/restoration experience…. The product is ok. Good for a quick mediocre shine, however there is “0” paint protection. This product washes off with car wash and water?!!! Yes soap is required to remove road dirt and grime.

And get the vehicle clean. Works great on vinyl, and interior parts, at $100/ gal it’s just too expensive for that use. There are much less expensive other out performing products on the market. Save your hard earned $$$ & time.

A little research will give you better results for less. Personal note; Ordered the gallon size first because I/we do a lot of wash & polish work (vehicle, boat, aircraft). 1st bottle showed delivery in tracking, but no box.

Checked video, nope nada. Mfg. Accused us of being liars (4 people)?! LOL they finally agreed to send another only if it was signed for, whatever. Anyway they were not customer service friendly by any means.

Just food for thought before ordering.

This stuff is GREAT and you will know it the second you put the first wipe on,,,, Feel the paint how slick it becomes and the depth of the shine! I hardly have to wash the truck any more – dirt don’t stick like it used to!!!! AND,,, I still don’t have to really wash it as there is so little dirt i can just wipe it off with another coat which makes it even slicker! Unless you live in a mud puddle or salt mine and your paint is in pretty good shape, you;ll love F11.

!!! But if your blue paint looks white from fade and weather you may not get the same depth in the shine but a car is that neglected is ready for the heap anyway!!! And hey I already bought mine so I don’t get a discount or anything for saying this,, and I wouldn’t if it didn’t work,,, It works and you won’t be disappointed! No one can afford to waste money esp.

Today I decided it was time to fire up the Kubota BX2380 and pull it out of the garage and give it some Topcoat F11 love before winter surprised us. I’ve been using F11 on my Kubota from the first fall that I got it.

It’s the easiest and best product that I’ve used. It goes on easy and with very little effort you can buff it it out to a great shine. Today I tried using it on all the areas of the BX2380. I used it on the trim, tractor body panels, tractor windows inside and outside, back blade and snowblower! It turned out outstanding! I can’t believe how easy it is to use and get a great shine without struggling.

I’d highly recommend Topcoat F11!.

Not the easiest of products to use. Even after snow foam pre treatment, wash, then clay bar. Polish goes on easy enough but taking it off is time consuming. There are other products out there that are easier to use and achieve the same results.

It does remove light swirls but don’t get your hopes up thinking it’s a fix it in one product. If you have a lot of swirls then you’d probably need to go for paint correction treatment. But overall, it does what it says to a degree but not the easiest to use when compared with other brands.

Not bad but not the best either. Probably priced a little on the high side for what it does.

The instructions on the back of the bottle warn the consumer ‘DO NOT ALLOW PRODUCT TO DRY’. This warning should be taken very seriously. I’m using the product on the car in the garage out of the sun.

The temp is only 13 degrees Celsius. The car is cold as it has been in the garage all night. And still the product dries in seconds. Best to HAND spread polish in a 10 cm square in 5 secs then rub off immediately.

You will notice that some product will remain around the edges or where it may have been applied thinly. Got to go over these with product again then quickly buff. And repeat. And repeat till any of the residual polish is gone.

Thus product may work well but is the hardest polish I’ve ever applied. Try something else. Do not recommend. And definitely do not recommend with DA since I tried thus first and gave up.

After achieving a mirror-like shine from a preceding application of Miguiars Ultimate Compound, I was eagerly anticipating the final super polishing effect that their Ultimate polish would give. Instead, this product clouded up the surface and actually greatly decreased the previously achieved shine while leaving patches of thick gooey product all over the surface.

Whether using a hand-held polishing pad or a random orbital electric auto polisher, the product clumped up and these clumps became near impossible to remove. it literally took hours or polishing to remove this disaster and get the surface back to a normal surface, but still less shiny than what I started with after using their Ultimate Compound.

I would definitely would not recommend this product to anyone.

12. 99 for 16 ounces (vs 11. 99 for 8 ounces at a nearby competitor). Per employee’s recommendation, I worked in the shade– applied a matchbook-sized glop onto a microfiber cloth; rubbed cloth onto headlight for about 2 mins; wiped headlight with a clean cloth; repeated on other headlight.

Excellent results for minimal effort.

I used this liquid rubbing compound on my car headlights to remove scratches and dullness as I had seen in a YouTube video. It was easy to rub on, let dry and simply rub off. While the headlights are brighter, they are not nearly as “clear” as the ones in the video.

Overall, I am glad that I purchased this.

I saw the reviews of others from use this product and said it worked very well. For me it worked better than expected. It did not take a lot of effort to put on or two white off maybe about 3 to 5 minutes.

I hit my white painted car against a red painted pole and got a red streak across my right side passenger door. The red paint was deep into my door. I thought I was going to have to pay hundreds of dollars to fix it.

This product easily removed the red paint and saved me so much money. My door looks amazing and the product did not remove the original color of my car door. Best paint remove product I’ve ever used.

I used an orbital polisher with adjustable speed. The technique used with this product is important. It isn’t as easy as wiping it on and wiping it off, and you have to use it in stages! I’ll leave it at that.

If you don’t know what you are doing it can burn the clear coat!.

My 19′ travel trailer was in need of a good buff and polish. A search for products for this purpose took me to several You Tube videos which described and recommended this product. After thoroughly washing the trailer, I used this product as directed, applying it with a power buffer with wool pad, spreading small amounts of the liquid over the area to be treated and then polishing it with the buffer ( I bought a digital, variable speed buffer from Harbor Freight for about $60, including the wool pad).

With a bit of practice, I learned how to handle the buffer without spraying the polishing compound all over and applying the appropriate pressure and buffer speed to achieve a nice polish. The resulting finish was so much better than previously tried products.

I did not apply a wax to the surface, even though the product instructions advise this is an option. The entire project used about a quarter of the 32 oz bottle of product, without any particular attempt to be frugal with the amount used to accomplish the job.

I polished front, sides and back of the trailer, but not the roof. I was so pleased with the result that I plan to use the same technique and product to polish my 24′ open bow boat.

Used to try and remove oxidized gel coat on my never waxed 1987 renown cuddly cabin. Looked at tons of reviews and YouTube videos online and all recommended different heavy oxidation removers. There were some 3stage oxidation polish and finish waxes but were all close to 100 bucks.

So I figured this was pretty cheap and had lots of good reviews. Was skeptical about an all in one oxidation cleaner wax, but so happy I bought it! Just did One pass with my orbital buffer and boat looks like brand new.

Stuff works great. I did buy the Meguiars marine boat wax but haven’t used it yet. Can’t inagine it will make it look any nicer than this stuff already has in one pass. Will 100% recommend! Attached photos show before and after.

The after photos still doesn’t have the back of the boat done. You can see a huge difference!.

The gel coat on my 32 year old boat needed some attention, so I used this to remove oxidation. Wow. It even removed some light scratches and scuffs. This stuff is phenomenal. I applied it with a buffer and removed by hand.

The finish looked great just after this application, but I also finished the job with Meguiar’s Flagship Marine Wax, and it looks like a new boat!.

This is very good rubbing compound. If you are looking for a rubbing compound that isn’t too aggressive. There are better compounds if you have a serious blemish to tackle. However; to me 3 M stands for quality and this product is no different.

I highly recommend this if you just have some swirls or other minor paint issues. This will buff them right out. As usual 3 M comes off easy and doesn’t harm the finish. It isn’t as inexpensive as some brands but you get what you pay for.

I will buy this again because of the wonderful quality. If your tackling a tough defect in the paint I would start with something a little more abrasive. Keep up the great work 3M.

I bought a used Tacoma that had scratches from the previous owner trying to remove bird dropping and tree sap with a dish scrubber. I went to a local paint and body shop to get an estimate to repaint the hood.

The Technician recommended to try some rubbing compound. He then brought out the 3M compound and 3M polish with a buffer, then used Chemical Guys Butter Wet Wax by hand. Within ten minutes the scratches were gone.

I could not believe it. I purchased these products and completed the rest of the truck. Spent about $100. 00 and a few hours, you can’t even tell the scratches were even there.

I bought this to try and buff out some paint on my daughter’s car from door dings. WOW. we were so pleased with the results. She had a giant ding loaded with paint from the other car. We pulled the dent as best as we could with a dent puller then buffed it out with this stuff on an orbital buffer being careful not to over-buff and burn the paint.

We couldn’t believe how good the door looked. If we looked for it we could find where the dent was (I’m a rookie with the dent puller) but if you didn’t know it was there you’d never find it. This removed the transferred paint without damaging my daughter’s paint.

So happy I took a chance on this product. I’ve done 2 other smaller jobs since with the same great results.

I supposed this Meguiar’s liquid rubbing compound works well enough, but it could be somewhat more abrasive in my opinion. And it could have a higher top temperature for use. It dries quite quickly and means you have to do smaller patches of work because it is difficult to remove if it dries.

I was using it in my garage and although it was shady, it was still 100+ degrees outside and that was in excess of the recommended high temp for good use. And, when I worked with a fan on me it was even worse for drying too quickly.

But, having said that, it actually did a good job on my truck. I would guess it was the first time the truck had been compounded, polished and waxed in its whole 10 years of life. It just took too long to get those good results.

I bought the truck about three years ago and have put only 11,000 miles on it, so I am sure it has had zero TLC on the paint job until now. I used Meguiar’s Polish and Meguiar’s best liquid wax on the paint and it really cleaned up nicely.

I will just have to wax it for the next five year or so to keep it looking nice. Maybe the Ultimate Compound will develop some grit over the next few years???.

My day job used to be buffing cars for the crash industry, If there’s a product out there, I’ve more then likely used it before in 20 litre drums, polish by hand or by machine. This product has not enough abrasive capability to adequately cut, it dries too fast, leaves a residue that requires endless buffing and the end result is not worth the time, effort or frankly, the cost of the product.

I went to purchase a good old Kitten polish but Repco were out of stock and recommended this instead. 3 X the price, 3 X the work and 1/3rd the result. I now need to do the job again, with another brand.

This one is going in the bin, $30 down the drain.

I was out of my usual paint compound so had to pick something up from halfords, It’s too thin(drips easy)and too dry(no lubricants)it does nothing(no cutting)and it’s very hard to remove, using Maguires compound right after this the difference is night and day.

Years of experience valeting and 3 years experience polishing cars. KochChemie H9 is the best but Maguires is also good.

I had seagull droppings on the bonnet of my four month old car. I hosed it off but it left two very noticeable marks on the bonnet. I bout this product and applied and with a wee bit of elbow grease it dissapeared and the paintwork is as good as new! Fantastic product! Will buy more Autoglym products for my car.

You have to put a bit of hard work in, but with this product the end result is well worth it. Over the years I have tried many products like this and there was only one that came close (they don’t make that any more).

This one is the right one for the job !! I would recommend this product.

Amazing product its been around for many a year and it never fails to amaze me. Its as good now as it was back in the year I first used it, which is a long-long time ago.

Bought this to use on my car on a few light scratches. Was abit disappointed it didnt really move the scratches as well as i thought it would do. Wondered if i needed to press alot harder to work. Will have another go with it i think.

This tin was to replace one I had finished off. Should imagine it will perform exactly as it usually does. Without appear to be vague it is was it is, so not a lot more I can say apart from TCut is a reliable product.

A car at work rubbed against my white car’s passenger’s door, big black marks everywhere. Worried about the cost to fix it at my local auto body shop. Visited Autozone for a possible solution. The salesclerk recommended 3M Rubbing Compound and showed me how to apply it.

Easy to apply! Went home and rubbed it for a several minutes. It worked!!! I was so happy and relieved that the product did its job!!! Erased all the black marks and left no stains, no residue, no smells.

Saved a trip to the body shop along with several hundreds of dollars. Extremely pleased with this product and Autozone! I can’t stopped raving about the product and service to my co-workers and neighbors!.

This did a very good job restoring my headlights to near new condition. Nothing else was used other than this rubbing compound applied with a lint free cloth and a little elbow grease. If you want an even better result you may wish to use various sandpaper grits first (see videos on Youtube) and then use this rubbing compound.

It probably took 10 minutes per headlight to restore them.

This product is at times underated because folks do not know how to use it properly, or let alone bother to do some research on the product and how to apply it. This is a professional grade product,if not used correctly you could damage your paint.

When using this product tape half inch above and below the scratch area, this will minimize hazing and swirls. Use with fine coned drill polishing pad,apply a small dap on tip and work it into the scratch with minimal pressure.

Wipe off and keep reapplying until the scratch is gone. DO NOT LET THE COMPOUND DRY AS IT WILL BECOME MORE ABBRASIVE. If used properly you can get out most scratches with no problem. Then use a 3M Imperial Glaze to restore the shine or Mcguires ultimate polish.

A family member backed out of the garage and scraped the rear wheel well of a white X3 BMW. I looked at this for months and finally decided to do something about it, not expecting any success. I used a Festool Rotex 90 tool* with a foam pad, and the results were amazing.

In five minutes the rash was gone completely! I honestly do not know how this was possible, but it worked like a charm, and I was so impressed I am thinking about opening a scratch removal business ;-).

This Turtle Wax Scratch Repair and Renew product restored my faith in automotive products that you see on shelves at the auto parts store and wonder if they are just money sinks. If you have a similar situation with your car, you should give this a try before you take it in for an estimate.

I could eliminate the need for repair or reduce your repair estimate. *you could use a drill with a foam disc attachment or use elbow grease.

I’m rarely impressed by Snake Oil car care products that virtually promise to invoke the power of magic to fix things. But this stuff has completely restored the marks left on my falcon the other day.

I felt for sure that it would need sanding , filler and paint to get rid of the scratches, they looked quite deep. The bottle says this stuff is equivalent to 1000 Grit sandpaper. It got rid of all the marks save for a tiny bit of bruising where the plastic of the bumper has been minutely compressed near the edge.

But if I didn’t know to look for it, I’d never be able to tell. I am very impressed by this product:

Looks like wax out of the bottle. but not so. This has just enough of a fine abrasive to remove scratches caused by sideswiping bendable traffic lane delinerator poles. I used a microfiber cloth by hand vs.

the orbitable buffer. Very little pressure and work required to return to “like new” condition. I am trying it next on black plastic arount the rear hatch, where it looks like chemical spots have affected the buffed finish.

I accidentally used rubbing compound on my jet black hood. I was awful looking with no gloss. I saw Meguires ultimate in a YouTube video. I bought a fine polishing pad for 15 bucks and a variable speed buffer for 58 bucks.

I used the Meguires at around half speed 1300 rpm or so and went back and forth 5 or 6 times and when I wiped off the dried compound I was blown away. It looked like a mirror. So easy.

Finally something that does what it says. Using my new PC polisher and colorful pads,a good combo. Takes all the “car wash” scratches out of the paint on my black suv. Highly recommend it.

This product does exactly as it states. Just remember to rub it off before it dries. This way it comes right off and it is shinier. It even took off light scratches. Something a scratch remover I used failed at severely.

I went to school for automotive collision repair for 4 years learning about painting, repair of totaled cars, and detailing cars till they are new. This stuff is the real deal, but you need to follow the instructions and maybe even look up how to use certain techniques on YouTube for the best options.

Definitely worth the buy if you have the time to do it right. If you don’t… it’ll look like it’s a terrible product. This would be user error not product issues!.

For a while I’ve had a white haze start to appear across the roof above the windscreen and given the cars black finish it has becoming a lot more obvious. I’ve always been concered about damaging the clear coat attempting to restore the finish and tried plenty of other branded products but none have been as effective as this TW Rubbing Compound which I bought today.

It took a bit of elbow grease to get the job done but really did work and the white haze has completely gone, following a polish I couldn’t be happier with the outcome.

This product is excellent for in between washes. It gives a beautiful shine like you just got your car detailed. I’ve been using it for 10+ plus years, many cars, and I’m glad they have the product consistent.

Especially love using on my convertible, when I want to wash the car but not the soft top. I don’t think the price has changed much in 10 years either.
