20 Best Car Plastic Restorer (2022 Updated)

I like this product alot and its a great product. Unfortunately there is a point where trim gets so destroyed that it needs to be replaced. If your trim is evenly faded then this will work great. If you have almost like a wavey pattern of varying fades going through your trim that look like a wave or a stream, you’re going to have to replace most likely.

I’m in the process of seeing if multiple coats will restore. It looks better than before, but you can still see the lines. That being said, I’m basing my review on how well this has worked for me in the past when fade has been even.

It works great on that. Even better if you keep up on your car and take care of your trim from the start!.

Appears to give an excellent finish to black plastic trim. It gets rid of all the white polish marks and restores the colour to like new Seems expensive but if it lasts then it is worth it. I outdone recommend the 12 oz.

will do a lot of times as only a tiny amount needed. Wear gloves, it is very black! Works better than anything else I have tried.

I had the ultimate detailing challenge with a relative’s car I was cleaning up to sell. The car had sat for ten years in a driveway and had never been treated to any kind of protection products. The black trim had faded to grey, and I was doubtful that any product could revive the trim.

I reviewed all of the heavy-duty trim restorer products available, and chose Solution Finish. I didn’t think to stop and take many “before” pictures except for the door handle shown here, but the “after” was amazing.

The back bumper trim piece on this model of car usually fades to a light grey, and this product did the amazing, turning it a rich black color. The finish is very natural, and the piece doesn’t look waxy or painted when treated, it just looks like black plastic.

You’ll be amazed.

I bought this based on reviews I had read. I wanted to renew some oxidized side molding. It didn’t touch the oxidation , but did shine up the molding. So if you are looking for something to remove oxidation.

This doesn’t do it. I emailed the company with my concern. No response. So as a restorer this didn’t work. If you are looking to shine up a surface that is already good , this will do it , although quite pricey for just that.

This stuff is crazy remarkable! I put it on all the black plastic parts on my Jeep and WOW!! Looks brand new again. It even made my handles black again as opposed to gray. Well worth the money and time to put on.

Did 2017 Jeep Jk bumpers and it looked nice until first little road spray from tires. Washed roadspray off and it left faded marks so I have to constantly redo them.

Used on a 9 year old Mini Cooper. Previously used bumper and trim gel, but this showed water stains very quickly. Based the purchase on a YouTube video testing several products. Bit pricey but seemed worth it.

Comes with 4 applicator pads. A little goes a long way! Barely used half. Possibly used too little as a couple of areas needed a retouch. Did this on dryish English November (damp, dewy evening) and you’re advised to protect from the elements for 24 hrs – possibly that was the problem – I didn’t! Very pleased with the result.

You don’t get a lot in a bottle but it does appear to go a long way. A 15ml bottle managed to do the exterior trim on a Renault Trafic van. After years of DIY detailing, I’ve never used a trim cleaner quite like it, the results are very impressive! It really does make exterior trim plastic look like new, it even took off cutting compund/polish excess that got on to the trim.

Very easy to use, you just have to be careful not spill any and not put too much on at once (little drops on the application pad is all that is needed). It does need a citrus/orange degreaser prior to application, the one from the same company is about 6.

It would be useful if there were a few more application pads in the packet and of course it would be nice if it was cheaper. However, the quality of the product does speak for itself and, if it last for a few years, the cost probably balances out compared to using cheaper products that have to be done more frequently.

It is certainly worth it for a bit of a restoration job.

Of course, this review is based on my recent (4 days) use of the restorer and it could all change if it doesn’t LAST! Whilst 15ml is a very small bottle it was plenty to do all the trim on my Skoda Karoq – quite a lot.

I cleaned it scrupulously and applied the C4 carefully. It was a bit fiddly making sure that it only went on the plastic, but that aside it went on easily. The immediate result is very good. Not too shiney, a natural new, matt plastic look.

The wax/polish smears have disappeared completely and overall the result is impressive. It has withstood a little rain without runs or smears, so the ultimate test will be how long it stays looking good.

It’s cost 30-odd pounds, including the preparation cleaner. If it lasts a couple of years as it boasts it can it will have saved me a lot of time not using standard products. I imagine the cost will work out the same overall.

Applied Rustoleum Wipe New to trim and plastic front and back bumper, as well as the plastic scoop on the hood of my Camaro 2SS. Followed instructions to a T and my car was in the garage for about a week before taking a roadtrip to visit my daughter in college.

When I returned home I ran my car through a car wash and noticed all my trim, bumpers and scoop had white spots/streaks all over it. It looks horrible. In the process of trying to get Rustoleum to fix what their product destroyed.

This product works well. I used it on a 2004 Nissan Xterra to freshen up the exterior vinyl/plastic. My biggest complaint is that about half the bottle had leaked out prior to me purchasing it. This is not a reflection on Bed Bath & Beyond because I bought the same product from a Dollar General store and had a similar experience.

This is a product packaging issue. I have no idea if this has been addressed, but I would suggest anyone purchasing this product to open the carton and inspect the plastic bag inside. If you view bits of a shiny dried crystaline substance loose inside the packaging with the bottle, you probably do not have a full bottle.

The four stars is more on the products behalf and not BB&B, otherwise this would have received a 5-star rating.

Amazing, magical potion to restore your car’s plastic. What was a once bleached out, chalky grey has now been restored back to a shiny black! I can’t recommend this stuff enough!

First off let me tell you I was very hesitant at first as you can tell my before pictures the plastic on my avalanche was pretty faded and I didnt think anything would work but I saw this and read the reviews and said what the heck Im going to buy it so I bought it and wow it brought my truck back to life I love it it works! A little goes a long way.

The only con: it is greasy/oily so use gloves while applying it.

I bought this to rejuvenate the plastic cladding on my avalanche. I had tried About 10 different things that just don’t work. I’ll leave the names out, but they’re very popular products. This stuff when used per directions really works! I thought it was kinda expensive when I purchased, but for the results I got, it’s worth every penny!.

I followed the directions exactly as described to do. Washed with last coat soap, applying with the clay & wash mitt as outlined in the tutorial videos, then went over car with 70% isopropyl rubbing alcohol and microfiber cloth.

I then applied The Last Coat and followed up with a coat of AMP on the car, windows, and interior leather seats. Been driving in rain, salt air, mud, and major bug infestations ar night. What a mess.

I rinsed the car and was shocked that most of it just slid off the car with a garden hose. In the past the bugs would take major elbow grease to remove. After a quick wash with the Last Coat Soap, it looked as good as new.

Unbelievable product. I have used everything and anything car product wise, and by far this stuff is the real deal. Looking forward to seeing how long the protection lasts. I was so impressed that I ordered Ceratrim for the exterior black vinyl trim.

My car is pretty new, and that product still improved the look of it. Take your time and it apply it properly to a throughly clean surface, and make sure to let it cure on the vehicle before getting wet for a day.

Same thing, the dirt just washes right off leaving a beautiful shine and protection on the black trim around my car. Great products!.

I purchased TLC Trim Restorer and so far I’m very pleased. It applies easily with the supplied applicator and the difference in my old, faded trim to the TLC trim is like night a day, it looks great.

I haven’t driven in the rain or washed it yet so I guess time will tell if it really holds up. If it stays looking like new, I’ll be very satisfied. A few notes: a little goes a long way. The bottle is small, only 8oz, but when you realize how little you need it’s plenty for several vehicles.

I’ve done an entire Ford Sport Trac (which has tons of trim and large plastic covered bumpers). Make sure you clean everything well. I washed and scrubbed all the exterior trim and then wiped everything down with mineral spirits to make sure all the dirt and oils were off.

Make sure everything is then dry. The applicator leaves a little to be desired. When using it, it tends to bunch up causing an uneven application. Not a big deal but a little frustrating. It’s also hard to use in tight spots and corners.

For those areas I used a small, foam craft / paint brush. It works fine. Also, make sure you go back with a microfiber cloth and buff off any extra product that hasn’t dried or soaked in. If you leave it wet, dirt and dust sticks to it and it leaves a tacky surface.

So far, you’ve got 5 starts from me and I would highly recommend this product.

I have been looking for a product to bring back the color on faded out trim on my truck. This product is better than I had expected because I had bought others from Auto Zone, Walmart etc that was only an oil based product that didn’t stay on past the first wash.

I’ve used a lot of wipe-on trim restoration products on my ’02 Volvo V70 XC (the one with huge plastic bumpers and trim). This one works well but it’s a little difficult to use, hard to get a consistent finish over large areas.

It also doesn’t last as long as I thought it would. Didn’t last through a Colorado winter. Might be better suited for smaller applications like the door handle in the video. Large areas are probably better served with a spray-on plastic paint vs.

wipe-on dye. Not that rubbing alcohol can be used to erase mistakes!.

I was very impressed with this product. I have been trying many products trying to restore the trim on my 16 yr old car. This product fills the bill. Easy to apply, cleans up nicely and I now have a nice black trim.

I also used it in the interior and was very impressed. The only draw back I have found, it is a dust collector big time. I live on a dirt street and dust galore every where & the dirt clings to the trim.

Clean up will be easy just using the hose & water. I have over two thirds left in the bottle, a little bit goes a long way. Worth every bit of the price an more. Warm water & Dawn cleans the sponge ready for another time.

A very good product that does exactly what it says. Why only 4 stars then? I have a product that is better but no longer available (health and safety). This is the best of the ‘modern’ day black plastic restorers.

Sometimes, if black plastic is too faded by UV light, I spray the panels. Providing that the plastic parts are not too faded, Meguiar’s does the job very well. Does require treating every few weeks depending on how much rain/sunlight we have.

All in all, a good product and well worth purchasing. Makes an old car/motorcycle ‘shine’ like new again!!.

I bought a 10 year old Focus which is in great condition overall, but much of the external black plastic parts were very faded, especially around the windscreen wipers. I bought this hoping it would help improve the look and I am amazed how well it has worked.

As suggested in the instructions, very faded areas needed more than one coat, but it is so easy to apply this wasnt a problem. I am really pleased with how well it has worked, how it has brightened the black plastic, and how much better this has made the whole car look.

Ive used it on the rubber hoses and plastic and trims in the engine compartment that was never cleaned in the last 25 years and they came out a treat. You have to let it get absorbed first before giving it a buff to a Matt shine.

Not tried on the exterior plastic trims so cant comment on the performance of the product there. But definitely recommend it if you are cleaning your engine compartment.

Used this on the black plastic pieces on RV as well as trim pieces on truck. Worked fantastic on the RV. It has been about a week since I put it on and all pieces still have a dark black shine and water beads right off.

Product was not as effective on truck but the plastic pieces were very faded (more gray looking now than black). Still, it brought back a lot of the color and gave it a nice shine. The bottle will last for a long time as a little product goes a long way.

Highly recommend.

Ive tried everything to bring back the bed caps and bumper cap on my Ram for yrs now. From really bad oxidation! This is the only thing that works. And it worx awesome!! For best results on anything but smoothe surfaces is use a small plastic brush and really work it in! Also leave it on for awhile before you wipe it off! My trucks plastics look like new again.

I’ve used a different product that actually works; this product is far less effective. Used almost the entire bottle to clear sun discoloration from the wind shield molding and step guards on my 4 Runner.

Already back to the other product.

I would highly not recommend this product. I had slight fading on my wife’s Tucson trims. I used this on them, looked great then the next day the trims came up even worse with big stained patches all over them.

I used the Bowdens black pack product and now it is back to normal again.

Do not listen to the poor reviews on the aerosol. If you clean and mask off correctly and take a little time to get a feel for the nozzle the result will shock you. This is not a product for someone who has no patience.

If you do 3 light coats and overlap while spraying there will be none of the problems that are voiced here. It’s a deep rich and even result. I have been using the aerosol for years and have had zero problems.

My Ram pickup was properly done 4 years ago and I am just now noticing that it is getting close to time to do it again. Highly recommend it for people who have common sense and patience. You won’t be disappointed.

I bought the spray because is said spray and walk away. well it makes a cloud and you will run away to breathe! there is so much wasted product atomized in the air!! you will have to go over the entire area in at least 2 directions and you still see holidays.

I have a Chevy Avalanche and I was only able to do the 2 toolbox lids and the Outside only of the 2 sails. after a week you can see streaks real bad as it is impossible to get even coverage with this spray can with its pinpoint atomizer spray tip.

I will say the product looks good where it is applied heavy so the cream might do better and I might buy some just to even out the streaks because it looks bad now.
