20 Best Car Reversing Camera (2022 Updated)

I have a 1999 Geep Grand Cherokee and being used constantly to pick up stuffs from HomeDepot or Lowes. But it has no rear camera such everytime when I reverse the car, I has to be very careful to watch out is there any person or stuff behind me.

Spent quite a bit of times to find way resolve this tunitl I found this camera. It really works well and serves the purpose of my need. My installation tips 1. Need to use one of the screw hole to connect the camera power line inside the liftgate 2.

Connect the LCD’s power line to the reverse light of the car, per instruction, which I used the reverse light bulb fixture to insert the positive and negative of the LCD power lines. This I don’t need to cut any wires of the cars original wiring.

I am veryy happy to have this product and it’s a very importanct safety feature to have on any car if you don’t have it. Highly recommended !.

I installed this on my 2011 Chevy Equinox L, which does not have a built-in backup camera. The most difficult part was disassembling the interior portion of the back hatch. There was plenty of wiring and the instructions were clear.

The picture is really clear! I’m able to back-up into the center of a parking spot and also feel much better about avoiding people or things that I can’t see by turning around and looking out the back window front he driver’s seat.

Great product for a great price!.

I installed this in my 2003 Chev Silverado Ext Cab and mounted the monitor above the rear view mirror with the permanent install power wire provided instead of using the plugin charger. You can splice into the light green reverse light wire inside of the cab at the fuse block located at the left of the brake pedal.

Remove the black cover and on the block it will be located at the top right. This made the install look great and only turn on in reverse. Sure it took some extra time to install but it was well worth it as the pictures show.

I had Best Buy install this camera on both of my cars. I have a Prius C and Corolla that I also had compatible stereos installed on. And they look great! The viewing angle is really the best part as well as the video quality.

Its easy to mount by either the strong adhesive, or screwing to car with the mount and screws it comes with. I think its great because it looks better (more factory like) than most other options.

Wow, this back up camera is fantastic! We had it installed on January 13th and are extremely happy with it. As soon as you put the car in reverse, the camera immediately comes on. The coverage is phenomenal! Btw, it doesn’t interfere with my stereo, which really makes us happy! If you are looking for a back up camera, I wholeheartedly recommend this camera! You can’t go wrong! It’s perfect!.

The camera works great in low light. It is hooked to the Factory radio in my car (MyGig) Easy to hook up, only concern is the length of the cable. It made it to where it was needed, but no extra to spare.

So check the length you need.

I like the quality of the whole system. The camera, mirror and hardware are all of good quality for the price. I’m not a beginner when it comes to installing aftermarket electronic devices in vehicles, so the limited instructions didn’t bother me.

But I can see how someone who hasn’t done it before or not much would find the instructions lacking more detailed information that would really help the process. The system works very well. The mirror is large, and the video displayed on it when backing up is also large and clear.

The camera has good coverage and clear detail. The only issue I had was the small cutout on the camera mount for the wire was on the bottom when the wire has to me run from the top. There was no way to reverse the cutout location or reverse the video picture displayed if the mount was flipped to accommodate the wire so that it wouldn’t get pinched when mounted.

Filing a cutout to fix that oversite would be the only solution until Pyle resolves it at the factory during manufacturing. The system does work very well. It’s a lot easier see directly behind my 1996 Jeep Cherokee now.

Pros- it is an actual rear view mirror and not a clip on. Pro- tag camera is in an aluminum bracket not plastic. Pro- easy install. Wired up to hot wire with key-on for mirror and reverse lights for camera.

Then ran wire from camera to mirror and was done. 3 hrs on a Lincoln Town Car Pro- Looks like factory setup. Pro- cost is well worth the product Con- Video picture is hard to see in sun light. Back light display could be brighter so mirror can’t interrupt picture visibility.

I rate this product at 3. 5 stars. The camera display is clear and of good size. Installation was fairly easy and has just enough RCA cable for this minivan. The biggest difficulty was finding a power source and ground under the dash.

I settled for tapping into one of the fuses for the power. This kit would have recieved a 5 star rating except for the fact that the rearview mirror “glass” is of a plastic composition. While the camera is off the mirror is dark, kind of like driving with the dimmer on.

It had a nick in the surface where the screen is and I further damaged the surface by trying to rub the blemish away. Clean this mirror with great care.

Our Jayco trailer was pre-wired for this camera. Easy install. I went with the 5″ monitor after reading complaints that the larger 7″ monitor was nice but was too big and blocked too much of the view out the windshield.

I made cardboard cutouts of the 5″ and 7″ monitor before ordering and placed them in different spots on and above the dash. The 5″ monitor seemed best suited for my GMC 2500. If I had a class A motorhome, I would have definitely ordered the 7″ monitor.

This wireless camera works great and has not cut out or flickered during 4 trips with the camera. Distance from camera at back of trailer to monitor on dash is 42 feet. I highly recommend it. Only complaint I have is I will need to make a simple sun shield all around the top and sides of the monitor to keep the sun glare down so I can see the screen better during times of bright sunlight.

Bought this for my brand new travel trailer prewired for this unit. Super easy install, 4 screws and plug in. Paired up immediately. If I could have justified the high cost I probably wouldve gone with the 7 monitor but these units are not cheap.

Got this at almost the same cost as the 4. 3, but that is too small an image for me. If you drive with your parking lights on you can see traffic behind while driving, nice bonus to be able to use it for something other than just backing up.

Also has microphone and motion detection.

The Kenwood CMOS-230, is a very good backup camera if you have a Kenwood double-din stereo with a DVD, or NAVI display. You can adjust the parking lines, and I live in a dark area, so backing up into the driveway is no problem with no lights for this camera.

The Kenwood CMOS-130 doesn’t have night view, but according to Kenwood’s website the CMOS-230 dose, and I can tell you there absolutely correct. I have standard reverse light bulbs in my 2010 Corolla, no need for led lights because backing up with this camera at night makes you see clearly in color display.

The BestBuy Geek Squad did a fast, quick, and excellent installation job when they installed this camera. It took one young man one hour to install this camera tops. I picked up this camera for $50. 00 off, so it was well worth the combined price $99.

00 with the install $129. 99. Yes; I recommend this camera, if you have a compatible Kenwood double-din receiver. It will make for an excellent needed upgrade. I, have driven, and backed up 18 wheelers for many, many years in NYC, that doesn’t mean you don’t need a backup camera for a small car; for example: In a Walmart Shopping Center, now that I live in Virginia.

The camera works great. The reason for the 4 stars is because of the directions. Don’t follow the directions. I have a Kenwood stereo which was an easy connection to the back of it but I also had to slice into the ACC red wire and then connect that to my back up light.

It has a really nice picture. The camera is mounted under my bumper (centered) on a 2000 Jeep Wrangler.

The installer hooked this up to my Kenwood deck. The installation was free because I have Total Tech Support. The tech was knowledgeable about the product and offered me different options for camera function.

I had mine hooked up independently from the reverse light circuit. I have to punch a button to turn on the camera, but that also allows me to use the camera while I am towing something, st I can check the stability of the hitch while in tow.

My only issue with the camera is the glare in strong light conditions. The picture is very washed out without enough contrast for effortless monitoring.

This camera gives excellent video, especially at this price. Be sure to do some research before installing. For the wire with the yellow RCA plugs and red wire on each end; plug one rca jack into the backup camera input on the back of the stereo head unit, and connect the red wire to the reverse sensing wire on the stereo.

At the camera end, you need to tap into the positive wire of your reverse lights with two wires: one to power the camera and the other to send a signal to the reverse sensing wire. You also need to ground the black wire on the camera end.

Do this and you will get a great picture that only come on when you put your car in reverse.

Well made weatherproof camera, weighty for it’s size. Included wires and hardware make installation easy for people used to modding things. the yellow RCA plug/wire has an integrated red wire to signal the head-unit that the camera is powered up.

I powered the camera from the back-up light wire at the trunk and connected the red wire at the same connection, which then connects to the head unit to allow automatic operation when the shifter is in reverse.

Good clear picture, the guide lines are useful, and can be turned off if one desires by clipping a blue wire loop at the camera.

Just purchased the camera, and it works great. Clear view, sharp and precise. Just make sure you have a radio that is capable of handling a rear backup camera and the model you need to operate it.

The video recording quality of this camera depends on which compatible nextbase dashcam you purchase, as well as the recording settings that you have. The maximum video quality on this device is actually only 1920 x 1080p 30fps with its other setting being 720p 30fps.

So make sure you check the user manual of your nextbase dashcam first to see what settings you can have. I’m using this rear camera with a nextbase 522gw running in 1440p 30fps, which means that the rear camera only records at 720p 30fps.

However this is still clear enough to see what the passengers in the vehicle behind you is doing, as well as clearly being able to view their number plate. The provided cable is long enough to easily to make it to the rear window of any regular passenger vehicle.

The actual camera ball section is magnetically attached to the mounting system so it allows for the camera direction to be easily changed or attached to a different mounting mechanism. The only downside is that the magnet on the camera is only on the top, which means that the cable attached to the camera, may get in the way in when trying to rotate the camera angle to look in some directions.

I’d been after a rear cam for a while but having the old Nextbase 312GW limited me as this model wasn’t compatible and couldn’t simply be plugged in to my existing cam. I eventually took the plunge and replaced my whole set up, settling on the new Nextbase 622GW.

I hardwired this into my car so it activates as soon as the ignition is engaged, it also enables parking mode when the car is parked up idle. From there on in I could simply just plug in the rear camera and feed the wires back.

The wires are tucked away in the front headlining and down the rubber door seal, fed along the length of the car into the rear and up into the boot via the rubber conduit. It’s discrete as you like and there are no unsightly wires hanging.

To be fair, this isn’t a feature of the cam itself, but I like that it’s an immaculate install. The cam is discrete and is a lot smaller than pictured. It doesn’t obscure my rear windshield and the majority of the time you don’t even notice that it’s there.

The wire feeds neatly up into the boot headlining to give a simple and seamless look with no unsightly wires hanging down. The sticky pad is very durable and sticks to the windshield like glue, I’m not looking forward to having to take it off to transfer when I change my car next year! The magnetic mount is okay and much stronger than I expected, it doesn’t fall off when opening and closing the boot.

It does however rotate slightly with movement so in the first few weeks I was forever having to adjust it to make sure it was straight in order to satisfy my ocd. I eventually stopped this as the very slightly slanted angle that it’s at doesn’t really make much of a difference as it’s only a few degrees, it still captures everything you want it to.

The footage quality is good but it doesn’t always capture the registrations of other vehicles, depending on time of day, lighting, speed travelled at and the speed of any passing vehicles, etc. If it’s right behind you, any reg will be captured, but even above 30mph you struggle to get a reg for anything further away from you.

I’d definitely buy a 4K module if it was brought to the market. Note to Nextbase though – you need to make any future products compatible with previous models! If an updated rear view cam were to be released but couldn’t be used with my 622, there’s no way I’d start again and replace my whole setup.

At £49. 99 it’s slightly overpriced but I’m happy with the quality and the security that it provides. The app seems simple enough to operate and is a major improvement on the cam viewer app for the first gen cams.

Great little camera, but, needs more cable. I installed this in my 2012 Nissan Xterra, which is a mid sized, short wheel base, SUV. My plan, to avoid running the cable near the upper side curtain airbags, was to run from the dash cam, to the nearest a-pillar, down to the floor, and along the kick panels, then back up the rear, and across to the rear camera.

When I got to the rear cargo area, I realized, I was going to be about two feet shy of reaching the center of the rear window. I ended up having to remove all of my upper interior trim, and thread it carefully below the side curtain bags anyway.

An extra few feet of included cable, wouldn’t be that much of a cost difference. And, it’s easier to tuck away extra cable, than try to find an extension on short notice. The picture quality of the camera, paired with my 322GW, is pretty good, the camera has a nice, wide view, and, is easily adjusted.

My concerns going forward, are how well the camera’s magnets will hold position over rough roads and terrain. And, how well the double sided tape will hold to the glass, as it was easily peeled off, and repositioned.

Overall though, aside from having to route the cable where I didn’t want to, the camera seems to be of very good quality, and should serve it’s purpose well.

I recently fitted on of these for a Customer to a Rav 4 with a Pioneer Media Player for the in built Reverse Camera facility. I was so impressed with the quality of picture on screen that I purchased one myself and replaced the reverse Camera on my ute.

“What an improvement”, so clear and sharp, much safer.

I probably expected a bit better resolution, but it does the job great. I bought it as an extra to the head unit upgrade bundle and it is a nice addition to a 2012 Suzuki Swift that didn’t have reverse camera or reverse sensors.

I bought a “cheap” led night vision camera and the thing was worthless. Terrible image quality. Behold the Kenwood. Great image quality day and night. I paired it with a new kenwood touch screen and what a duo.

Beware that the cable that comes with this rear cam is only 24 feet long, and is male micro usb on both ends and it’s not standard at all. This cable is just not long enough for most Suv’s, wagons, or longer sedans if your doing a clean install tucking and routing cables.

They do not sell an extension, and normal type micro extension do not work. Forcing you to purchase their long cable 31 feet from their store, and in the process having to tear apart the entire vehicle to pull another cable.

This really stinks, I’ve purchased the main cam, the hard wire kit, the extra battery, and the rear cam and this experience has just been a major pain considering the cost, it feels like they know they create problems and sell solutions.

And yes I’ve contacted support and they told me this, it’s a shame as the cams and systems are very good, but I can’t recommend this product unless you have a really small car with a short install route or just know the hidden costs and limitations to this cam system.

Live view isn’t stable. Connection to smartphone is tedious and frequently drops. Manual recording only lasts one minute. The CPL filter seems to reduce image quality about 10-15%. Proper hardwiring to my 2017 Ford Escape was impractical due to absence of hot with ACC On fuse to tap into at the passenger side fuse panel (although there were two fuses hot with Ignition in Run or Start, but this eliminates parking mode feature).

Rear camera is good. The OBDII harness works perfectly fine, but small technical problem getting it installed permanently. The only way to get a nice smooth quality playback seems to require downloading the one-minute files and merging them together.

Downloading files is very slow. Everything else seems OK and as described in manual and online reviews.

Quality, reliability is quite good comparing to other one on the market. But radar module should be included for the price you are paying. also you have to buy fuse taps when you buy hardwiring kit. will see how it will work in extreme temperatures here in Mongolia when its hardwired with battery (-20C on average).

Purchased this camera because it did have high rated reviews overall. Additionally, I wanted to pair it with the Pioneer 7in DMH-1500NEX in dash system. Thought that this would make the most sense since they had been manufactured by the same brand and company.

Was hoping the functionality of the camera would work better with a product from the same company. That may not necessarily be the case. Let’s dive in to the product a little more in depth. Some of the older reviews had gripes about not having the parking assist lines.

I don’t know if Pioneer upgraded the camera but when paired with the 1500NEX you do have parking assist lines. They are just sub par at best. It seems they we’re an after thought for Pioneer. The lines don’t automatically turn with the vehicle when it turns and they are improperly placed on the screen and you can’t adjust them.

My first test run using the lines I almost ran into the back wall of my garage based off of the red line stop placement. Luckily, I knew where I needed to stop because if I was new to my garage and using this system I would have definitely put a massive hole in the wall.

Would have made for a very bad day. Pioneer should have at least made the lines adjustable in the settings or even adjust with the angle and placement of the camera. Like I said, it seems to be an after thought and just slapped something in the system with no real care or critical thought with it.

With that being said, they also could and should have added sensors to the camera so that you wouldn’t have the issue of running into things. Another failed product development piece that could have made this camera a better overall item.

The picture quality in the day time is fair. Comparable to other vehicles I have driven with pre built-in systems. Have yet to use it at night. That will be the real test. Ultimately, I think Pioneer didn’t really think this one through or just didn’t care to think it through enough to provide better functioning settings to make for ease of use for customers.

For the price point they should have at least tried. They’re are some other lesser name brands that did and do a better job at providing those items for consumers. Overall, it does what I need it to do but am not impressed by no means with this final product.

I would return the product but don’t wanna go through the hassle as it has been installed already.

Good cam for its generation and time, but even after years, the price of this product does not go down. The picture quality is 480i, it has a nice large view, works at night, and is not so bad In the rain, Allows for guided lines adjustments and turns them on and off including screen size wide or zoom but it does not zoom in or out neither moves up or down like other rear parking cameras.

The picture is colorful but ie equivalent to standard CCTV. I only use it when I am backing up it turns on immediately and helps me to see almost everything behind my SUV. I expected a bit more for that price.

I installed this on my travel trailer so that I can see while backing it up. It produces a clear image and the adjustable angle of the camera means I can compensate for the somewhat wonky angle of my license plate.

It is important to note that many trailers do not have reverse lights, and, therefore, no means of powering the device when the vehicle is in reverse only. I wired mine to the tail lights. Hence, I can turn on the camera just by turning the lights on in my truck.

The camera will come on whenever I drive with the trailer at night, but if I decide I don’t like that I can put a switch on the power wire under the dashboard of the truck. This unit makes a great second camera.

I already have a back-up camera on the truck, but the display has two inputs. I wired the trailer camera to the primary input, so whenever the trailer is hooked up, that camera is displayed. I used a hard wire to connect the truck camera to the display and a wireless transmitter for the trailer camera.

This product comes with a power wire only. You will have to decide how you are going to connect it to your display, and obtain appropriate hardware.

Easier to replace that I thought itd be. Hooks up to my old cords but seeing this came with new cords I thought I best replace it all. I just followed the old cord as I replaced with the new one. My old camera looked like it was stuck in a fog, lense was ruined from winter road salt.

Now with new camera I see everything so clear, it’s so amazing what a difference. I’ll never wait to replace one again. I did not need to get any technical support at all, that’s always a huge plus in my book.

Oh and I’m not a technical person at all, lol. The camera is adjustable for the proper view that you need. Dont forget to remove the clear film from the lense.

Reviewed in the United States on November 8, 2018 I’m very pleased with this backup camera/monitor. Easy to install; amazingly inexpensive (under $30); very good picture relative to sharpness and clarity, including bright infrared image in complete darkness.

Only minor complaint is the image color in daytime use: trees look purple, no matter how the tint and saturation controls are adjusted. I would have bought it at this price even if it were only black.

This Garmin unit works about half the time, is very slow to activate, and creates a lousy low-res image. Bad day or night. I got this paired with the Garmin GPS unit which is amazingly fantastic. Both were expertly installed together by BestBuy.

I am amazed Garmin branded this piece of junk at all and then priced it so high. Big rip-off. It seems to be at least 10 years obsolete.

Used on long trip for the last week, so using frequently. Easy to install. Takes about 3-5 seconds to connect to the camera. Good picture. Sometimes not bright enough and cant adjust any higher. Mounted on camper on GMC 2500.

License plate on left side so sets guide line way off center. It would be good if they could be adjusted left and right so they would work on vehicles were the license plate is not in the center of the vehicle.

Solar charges well, never had a problem even though we were using it multiple times per day.

We are using our Garmin RV780. GPS as the monitor for this camera. I have the camera powered off the back up light circuit in our Roadtrek camper van. My only gripes with the unit are the delay in manifesting the rear view picture while the camera apparently boots up, and the fact that sometimes transitioning from full GPS display to camera display causes the GPS to reboot, so you have to wait for that to complete before the camera image appears.

This is my second mirror dash cam (though this is my first from Sylvania) and this one is nothing like my old one. I’m still waiting on replies from Sylvania support — I think today is day 4 — with HOPEFULLY troubleshooting and resolutions to: 1) why the mirror will not stay on — the instructions say that by default it’s set to “screensaver mode”, and to turn that setting off.

There is no setting for screensaver mode, I’ve gone through all of the available settings. So every minute or so, the mirror goes into screensaver mode and the only way to get a picture back on it is to quick-press the power button underneath the bottom of the mirror.

Needless to say, no one wants to commute every day, clicking a power button every minute as they go down the road. 2) the rear camera shows everything inverted. If I’m in the middle lane of a 3-lane road, a car passing me on the LEFT hand lane (on my left / driver side) will show on the mirror screen as passing me on the right (passenger side).

Likewise, if a car is passing me on my RIGHT, it shows on the mirror like they’re coming up on my left (driver side). It might actually be a GOOD thing that the screen doesn’t stay on because that is insanely confusing.

Their instructions say to mount the rear cam a certain way so that the image isn’t upside down. as far as I can tell, it’s properly mounted, and the images aren’t upside down, they’re inverted left-and-right.

I will give support a couple more days to find solutions before just sending it back. So far, I’m far from impressed. However, if the issues above can be resolved, then I will gladly change this review.

Omg y’all I was so excited to open the package when the mailman gave it to me!! I had no idea I was even receiving this from BzzAgent! I actually thought it was going to be a little difficult to install, but I was completely wrong.

The mirror actually fits right over your factory rearview mirror! It has a 10″ touchscreen and comes with a 32GB memory card to store videos. This camera has the absolute best picture I have ever seen on a rear backup camera! Everything is exceptionally clear and sharp.

So, if you are ever in an accident you don’t have to worry about the camera not having a good picture because the picture quality is off the charts compared to many cameras I’ve seen. I looked through some of the footage I had, and I could clearly see the car’s tag in front of me, which was actually a couple car lengths ahead of me, with no problem.

I love that is has the guide lines for parking because let’s be honest here, I SUCK at parallel parking but with those two little lines I’m actually pretty good at it. I would rather park a mile away than have to parallel park, but not anymore!! Those 2 lines are amazing and I’m so happy they are available with this camera.

This amazing little gadget also comes equipped with a built in G – Sensor whick will record & save the video as soon as it detects a collision. It is also equipped with a motion sensor! And let me tell you, it doesn’t have to be a “your car is totaled” collision, because while I had my car parked I just bumped into it and it actually detected my bump and instantly started recording! You can monitor your car 24 hours a day, and have comfort knowing that is someone hits your car and doesn’t stop, it’s ok because you’ve got it all on camera.

If you’re asleep at night and someone decides they want to break into your car, rest assured the G – Sensor & motion detector will pick up the motion and bumps and record every single second!! I am in love with this Sylvania Roadsight Mirror!! I have shown all my family, friends, co-workers and even strangers I meet in the parking lot lol That’s just how much I love this thing! I bought the mirror camera for use on my Tundra extended cab. I actually hooked it up and it looked great but when I wired up the rear camera it is at least 5-8 ft. short of getting to the mirror unit.

It required 4 wires from the rear camera to the mirror apparently and the mini jacks (have FOUR wires) and there apparently are no male-to female jack extenders rendering the rear useless. The wire is so fine you can’t splice it (the dealer tried to get me to do that.

) Sylvania needs to come up with set of extender wires. Unless I can come up with a male-female 4 wire jack camera system completely useless.

This particular camera was suggested by the Best Buy installation team when I came in at the installation appointment for the originally back-up camera I had purchased, which would have them install the camera outside the license plate frame.

They told me that the camera I had purchased would require the drilling of two extra holes and that it may cause the water to filtrate inside the trunk, etc, Long story short, they convinced me to change my mind and buy/install this plate frame camera, which now I regret purchasing because you can’t really adjust the angle of view, which is too high; therefore, it does not allow you to see the bumper of the car, which makes it difficult to tell how far you are from the curb when parking.

I have tried every possible way to change the angle of this camera, but it’s of no use — you can’t really adjust it. If I had to do it again, I would not purchase this camera for the issue mentioned above, it almost defeats the purpose of a back-up camera (and depending on the stereo you have, you’re not able to make changes through there either).

This is a much better back-up camera then I was expecting. It’s not the best out there, but for <$100, it actually looks pretty good. It's a little tough at night when there's lights aimed at the camera.

Even at night in general, it’s more fuzzy than in the day, but still usable at night. Installing this (nature of the beast) is quite difficult, not this camera in particular however. Making sure you line up a wire from the rear outside of the car to the (relatively) insulated inside of the car, with drilling minimal holes and ensuring the wires remain out of site was a difficult task.

If you spend the time to do it right, you’ll be happier with the final result in the long run. Plus it’ll add to the longevity.

Installation isn’t too bad however what threw me off is that the wiring has your black and red wires, then it has another red wire by the RGA plug. So for a little bit, I was not able to get the camera working.

I called Metra tech support and they explained to me that the red wire by the RCA plug is to attach to the reverse light’s wire. I still don’t understand why they wired two positive wires when you can take the original one and hook it up to the back up light’s positive wire.

So I hooked both positive wires to the back up light’s positive, and negative to the negative, and the camera works great. I really love the design where the frame goes behind the license tag. Now the state name is not covered up since Georgia puts their state name on the top of the license plates.

This is my third attempt at buying and using a dashcam. The first went straight in the trash as there were no instructions and no way to access it other than with a smart phone app (I don’t own a smart phone).

The second one came from Best Buy. The geniuses there had no idea how it worked, so it only took me 3-4 hours of experimenting and trial and error to figure out the most basic functions. It seemed to work OK, but the unit would lose memory (date and time) if I didn’t drive the car every day, so the files it collected (videos) all had meaningless date/time stamps (also the file name) and files were routinely overwritten before the SD card was full, because every time I did drive, it started saving files with the same name (derived from the date/time which was always 01/01/2000).

The Rove was a pleasant surprise. It came with a quick start guide (what a concept!) that had me up and running in minutes. They also included a very nice printed owners manual with everything I could want to know (the BestBuy one had to be downloaded from the internet and was incomplete at best).

The menus are intuitive and very easy to use. Except for a couple of menu items or button presses that were not readily apparent (accessing system parameters for instance), I probably didn’t even need the manual.

The other units did not have a GPS receiver. The Rove has the capability built-in so you always have the correct date/time as well as speed and heading indication in the recording. You can also download a Geotracking app to display your drive route on a map (I don’t use this, but it might be nice to have).

I can’t stress this enough: I bought the Dash Cam to record what happened in case of an accident or other traffic situation. It is very important to me to have the proper date, time, my speed and heading recorded if something happens.

If you ever get into a “He said. She said” situation, you want to be able to prove what happened and what your car was doing beforehand. I have 4 vehicles and I put a Rove dashcam in each one. I would not drive without one now.

This is a very good camera. It has a lot of nice features. That being said, the main issue I have is that if you only have a usb power point that is controlled by the ignition switch, when powered on, the camera defaults to a menu from which you must choose either use as a flash drive, use as a webcam or use camera normally.

This becomes a real problem if you are out in your car with multiple starts and stops because you have to select use as camera every time you start your car. I sent the company an email with a suggestion which I believe would resolve this issue but the only response I received was of no help and I do not believe they will make any attempt to incorporate my idea into their software.

If you have a cigarette lighter power point that is controlled by the ignition switch and use the included adapter, then you will probably have no problems. The company does recommend using a Samsung Class 3 memory card, but I am using a SanDisk Class 3 and have had no problems.

This review is for the company that makes the camera, ROVE and not the company that it was purchased from.

Truly plug and play. I recommend a 128 Gb micro-SD card because a 3 minute video uses 450 Mb of storage when recording in 4K. Use Rove’s recommended SD card. Default settings on this camera are 4k recording, broken up in 3 minute segments.

I have had no issues with this camera, and even recorded evidence to help the police! Image quality is fantastic. Remember to unplug the camera when you leave your vehicle, because it will continue recording (unless you need to have continuous monitoring).

I bought a second camera to use in my other vehicle.

Bought this as part of a stereo kit – I am pretty experienced with vehicle installations/modifications so install time was fairly quick – the bulk of the time was removing trim panels to fish wires from the back of the stereo to the camera at rear of vehicle.

The instructions don’t mention the little orange wire that is attached to the RCA wire, so I didn’t know what it was and left it unhooked. Later I figured out that it should be attached to the power (12v +) on the reverse lights and the opposite end attached to the stereo so I had to go back and do that.

Pros: Simple to install – hook up to power source for reverse lights on car, attach RCA plug. Camera is pretty clear most of the time. Angle adjusts up and down (but not side to side) to help accommodate different height installs.

Has the “distance” lines in the display to help guide you. Cons: Installation instructions poor at best – if you aren’t familiar with installing things in a car you will need help. Some conditions (rain, darkness) the camera isn’t good enough view to be useful.

The size of the bracket that attaches to the license plate is pretty big and covers part of the license plate such that in some states you might get a ticket. Overall I’d say bang for the buck this is a great deal.

If you are looking for a rear view “backup” camera for your car and already have a stereo that will accept this (or have another option for viewing) I think this is a good option.

Excellent! Use it when towing travel trailer as a rear view mirror. Nice angle for lane changes. Would recommend.

After going thru 2 other brands of backup cameras I really like this one. Color is very good, picture is sharp, and is all metal instead of plastic. Hopefully it won’t get moisture behind the lens like plastic ones.

Easy to adjust the vertical angle which is very important to see closer lower objects. These all install the same, just watch a u tube video. Not the quality of factory cameras but works well. Only downside I’ve seen is headlights even in cloudy daylight make cars behind you appear as one big dot of white light.

Installed the furrion FOD43TA-BL monitor+camera. Works fine, (except at night when ambient light from backup light can blind the camera), but Furrion discontinued the gear. I wanted to buy two additional cameras and keep the monitor.

We have three vintage campers [1946 Spartan Manor, 1950 Spartan Royal Mansion, and 1964 Fireball Meteor named Derel…short for “Derelict”]. Wanted to install a camera on the Manor and Fireball, then use whichever camper/camera combo with the current monitor.

Yes, I’d have to pair each camera every time we hooked up, I guess, but who wants three monitors in one tow vehicle? As it is, we have three monitors in the truck right now: Furrion camera monitor; Garmin; and TPMS.

All are about the same size, but together they take up a lot of room. Issue: No can do! Furrion discontinued the set, so I’d have to throw away the existing monitor+camera, then buy a new set. They seem to think no one will have three cameras on three campers, because a monitor that accepts multiple cameras displays them in separate screen areas: two cameras consume 50% screen area; one camera not in use leaves half the screen blank.

To get usable screen space, I’d need the 7” screen monitor…with much of the screen blank…to support whichever camera/camper combo is in use. We want a rear view to check for brainless tailgaters, but this will get ridiculous! And throwing away a perfectly good device because Furrion decided to make it unavailable is even more ridiculous.

Worked fine, but Furrion is the pits.

It’s great to be able to see if I have vehicles behind me while driving. Easy to install. Be advised that 2019 and newer GM trucks require a Furrion Adapter. Camera will not link up with monitor without the adapter.

I wish I had been informed of this when I purchased the camera. Bought camera one day before long trip only to find out adapter was needed and had to be ordered, as the adapters are not in stock.

This is a great camera and monitor. My camper is pre-wired for Furrion, so it literally took all of 10 minutes to remove the protective cap from the camper, plug the camera in to the waiting harness, and attach the camera using the existing screws from the camper.

The picture is plenty clear on the 4. 3 monitor, so I didn’t feel compelled to spend the extra $$ on the 7-inch monitor. I can see vehicles behind me and at my back corners, so I have complete visibility now when changing lanes.

Resolution is very good, and the camera has a built-in microphone, so your parking helper doesn’t have to yell! Very helpful when backing in, so I can see exactly what’s going on behind me at all times.

Don’t be afraid to buy this camera! The price would say it might not provide a very good image High Definition-wise, but I actually place it right up there with my factory-installed 2018 Impala camera.

It features a superimposed “guide bracket” on your viewing screen with a green, yellow and red zone so you don’t back into an object (or another vehicle!) The only doiference is that it is a static presentation, not re-aimed as is the Impala’s dynamic steering position which also shows WHERE you are heading as you back up.

Installation is a breeze as it attaches to the top of your license plate. It can handle either a wired install or a wireless install as well. Buy this! You’ll like it!.

Pretty nice quality. both the style and construction, and the picture quality. adjustable, so you have to get the camera at the right angle to match the red lines to the rear of vehicle, but pretty easy to do.

Only complaints. could have added a rubber back to camera bar and cord from camera with plug could have been a little longer, but worked. Installed on 2004 Camry LE with Dual touch screen double DIN radio.

I bought this for a big rig freightliner and mounted it on the back of the cab instead of the license plate. The camera rotates up or down for your best position. I drop and hook to multiple trailers day and night and it has come in VERY handy.

I bought a BOSS DVD radio from Walmart as well which I use with the camera. I just hooked up the reverse wire remote switch to my utility light switch. Now, I just flip a switch at any time and I can see what’s going on behind me in what would normally be a blind spot.

I can even see my air lines and electric cord.
