20 Best Car Snow Shovel (2022 Updated)

I’ve seen the complaints that this is too small. This is intended to be a compact, collapsible, emergency snow shovel. Granted Walmart’s description does not go into enough detail, but a little research will tell you that this is only 8.

5″ wide. It is meant to be kept in your vehicle for occasional use only, much bigger and it wouldn’t be compact enough. The blade and attachment to the handle is all aluminum, so much stronger than a lot of the plastic ones you see – especially in frigid temperatures.

The handle design allows for multiple configurations. This is my second one of these as I gave my first one to my daughter to put in her car.

I got this because I live in an apartment complex where the snow piles up pretty good in the parking lots, and when they plow, they push snow up in front/behind your call so you can’t move. I keep this shovel in the back of my truck so I can dig-out when needed.

Bought it for my in-laws when they downsized to a condo. It stores nicely in their coat closet. It is very sturdy and has held up to icy snow.

I love that it was shipped by FedX. It came on Thanksgiving day. I assembled it the next day. (very easy to do, 2 bolts) I used it than to remove 3 inch’s of snow we got over night for my porch. I love the plastic cutting edge.

It will not cut my new flooring nor mark it with rust. So easy to use. I am so happy to have this well built snow shovel.

This shovel is way too light weight to be effective. I would not recommend it to anyone, because the tub is light plastic and the aluminum blade at the tip of the tub does nothing to cut through the snow.

Unfortunately my good steel shovel broke, so now I’m stuck with this until stores get restocked. I should have read the description more closely, because my sort criteria was aluminum, but little did I know the only aluminum parts are the handle and blade.

The whole thing needs to be heavier.

The extra handle branching out of the shaft’s middle isn’t an improvement in a shovel’s basic and fundamental design; doesn’t mitigate biomechanical strain, but creates it in new areas (lats and intercostals).

Can only shove and push snow forward in a linear way.

I got this shovel free to try and two days later we got 6 inches of snow! I assembled the shovel the day I got it (very easy to put together). It didn’t stay in the shed long! I was excited to try the shovel because I could tell when I was putting it together that it was sturdy and made of good material.

I tried it, I’m 5’2” tall, my son tried it, he’s 5’6” tall and my husband tried it, he’s 5’10”. We all were able to use it without any problems and it was easy on our backs. It made quick work of the shoveling for sure.

My husband felt if he was taller than it might be a little awkward to use but it was so great for all of us to use that we’re buying another one!.

This is a great shovel to keep in the car. Shipment was super speedy.

Great! Small enough to fit easily in my pickup. Big enough and strong enough to dig me out of any situation. Compact design makes it perfect for getting under axels and around tires.

An amazing snow shovel. Since it arrived at my doorstep, we have not had even one snow storm! Had I known that it was going to be this good I would have ordered one months ago.

My husbands shovel broke and he needed another lightweight one, so I bought it for him, he loves it and it was delivered in one day. Fantastic!!!

We had one of these but needed two so we could both shovel snow at the same time. We are both in our 70’s and shoveling snow is not high on our list of favorite pastimes. This shovel is lightweight and very strong.

The handle is designed to make pushing and lifting loads of snow much less challenging than other designs (we’ve tried a lot). Shoveling snow is never easy but this shovel makes it at least doable.

I bought this shovel because I wanted something ergonomic so that my wife and I would not hurt our backs. These shovels are perfect! It has a smaller foot print then the shovel s that I had and so were not as heavy to pick up with a load of snow and you could throw it farther.

I would rather shovel more and not hurt my back then shovel huge chunks of snow and be sore. We have been using these shovels since the 3rd snow fall here in Chicago and it was one of the best investments in my winter war that I have made, except for salt! Lol!.

The first time I observed someone use one of these bent handle shovels I thought what a joke. Well the joke was on me. I tried one last winter and it made a hard shoveling job a lot easier. The design of the funny looking handle saved my back.

Now if you want to scrape down a sidewalk or driveway, this shovel isn’t the one for you. But to clean the snow off the sidewalk and throw it over the bank, it’s hard to beet.

Great shovel, easy to use and adjust. Also very lightweight and packable for how much snow you can shovel with it. It’s great for backcountry skiing and winter camping for setting up camp. Overall I absolutely recommend this shovel if you are looking for something similar right now!.

I keep these in my vehicles for emergencies like digging out if/when getting stuck. I don’t anticipate needing to rescue anyone from an avalanche, but I have used these many times to build little kickers and burms while tubing with my kids.

They are very sturdy, move a lot of snow for their size, dont weigh too much, and pack away compactly when stowing in a vehicle or while strapped to a pack. I also have a couple subzero branded shovels (very similar design) that I got from a hardware store a couple years ago.

They were about 1/2 the price of the MSR shovels, but after seeing and using both, the MSR is far superior. If I had to depend on it for survival there is no question the extra money is well spent.

Do you need a helping hand? Maybe a bigger hand? Maybe that hand needs to be made out of a strong light weight metal. Never fear, this shovel is here. The need I have is for quick work to setup my 4 season mountaineering tent.

No one wants to sleep on bumps. Or for digging snow holes so my tent doesn’t blow away during summits. Maybe even one day I can dig up my yard next winter and make a snowman.

Best kids shovel out there! I know it’s marketed as a car shovel but this actually works great for kids. It can be 2 different heights, doesn’t have sharp edges and doesn’t crack instantly. Buying a 2nd one because the kids fight over this one.

This is an amazing shovel for kids. Kid shovels are flimsy, easily broken, way too small for anyone over age 3. These can be clicked into multiple different lengths so any size child can use it! It is tough, great size, and the young kids can genuinely help shovel! And mom and dad can use it too! Love it!.

I bought this to keep the shovel in my trunk just in case I need it for my car since it’s horrible in snow. Last year I helped shovel someone out of a snowbank so they didn’t have to get their car towed.

It’s been a life saver and I love how small you can make it so it doesn’t take up too much trunk space. Highly recommend!.

Very compact so fits in my trunk well. I like that it can be used as a shovel if needed but also as an emergency cone if I get stuck some place. It is a little hard to get open and closed but once I did it a few times, it freed up a bit.

Gonna get some as Christmas gifts.

This is the most compact shovel out there so it barely takes any room. Work well in emergencies and is a nice size for small kids to use when they want to help clear the driveway.

I bought one of these last year and found that it broke with minimum light usage. When used as a shovel, the scoop is held in place with frail plastic stops on either side. They easily strip, making it useless for shoveling snow.

I use this shovel every winter. When the kids break it (LOL) I buy a new one. It is seemingly perfectly balanced just right for lifting leverage. Other “bent handle shovels” have caused my to gripe up a storm! You couldn’t lift right with them! This one is my absolute favorite.

I own about 4 of them. Also useful as a pusher. but by far. it is my choice as a lifter to MOVE THAT SNOW onto the tall piles where it needs to go. Has a metal scraper blade that helps get down to through the packed down snow.

My last word on the subject. if you need to move snow, you will want this shovel in your hands.

Of the many, many shovels I’ve used over the years, this is the one I’d buy again. In the past, I’ve been a sucker for so-called “ergonomic” shovels, and this is the only one that has exceeded my hopes.

The Shovelution really is different, for comfort and efficiency. To my surprise, the springy secondary handle works equally well for users of different heights. I cleared a wet, heavy snowfall this morning, with no discomfort.

That’s a first. I still don’t love shoveling, but I like this shovel very much.

Really less stressing. We not only cleaned the drive way, concrete in the back yard but also built a mountain of snow with family 🙂 Really the additional spring handle is innovative and makes everything effortless.

I do see a struggling neighbor who has a traditional shovel and wish I could just either offer mine or can even do theirs after mine with so much left over stamina 🙂 thank you for this product. Those who want to save all stamina can just buy automatic shovel/blower which is pricier but this is a good cheap option for those who can’t afford higher priced tools.

The shovel is built well enough, based on the limited use I’ve put it to. I don’t love it because the handle needs to be longer to work well for me, and the scoop is fairly narrow. I think I’m quite a bit taller than the person it was designed for (I’m guessing 5’6″?).

This means the scoop hits the ground at too much of an angle, causing the metal strip protecting the shovel edge to stick on the textured surface of concrete due to friction. It doesn’t easily slide over the concrete without putting up a bit of a fight.

Also, I should probably have expected this, but the blade is fairly narrow, making it not very useful for pushing snow around. All that said, the basic design is fairly ergonomic and the throw action works decently well.

If you’re closer to the apparent design height and your sidewalks are narrow, this shovel might be perfect for you.

Ergonomic handle means less back stress, this, coupled with an ideal width and length of the shove blade make shoveling heavy snow easier and quicker. The reason it’s not a good value is the lack of general availability to American Nationals within “The United States of America” 1781.

Great snow shovel – easy to use and just the right size….works even better with a coat of automotive wax on the scoop before use.

It’s a great snow shovel for those who can’t lift a ton of snow. It’s easy on the back and gets the job done.

Worth every penny. Don’t waste your time and money at on shovels at big box home supply stores. The shovel is made of some type of plastic and rubber mix composite. The handle is the longest I could find.

In the past, I had to modify shovels with longer handle for ease of use.

Its a snow shovel and I used it last night. Pushed snow great as well as shoveled. Hood product.

It was not until I went to shovel snow that I realized the surface that met the pavement was bowed so that only the outside edges hit leaving a quarter inch of snow in the middle of the shoveled area.

The only good thing about the shovel was I got my money back with no issues; of course it took more time out of my day to return it.

I was looking for a good, sturdy snow shovel without a metal edge in order to avoid scratching or damaging my deck. This fit the bill. Lightweight and sturdy as any other shovel.

My hubby saw this in the store and had to have it. He loves that there is no metal blade at the bottom.

Love the look of the shovel and definitely seems strong. The handle is a bit longer than the other shovel I have but fits well strapped to my pack on my sled. Haven’t used the saw yet so can’t comment on that.

Lightweight but sturdy, has gotten me out of a jam already. Must have for off trail riding. Does the job as well as the twice as expensive models (klim etc)

Got me out of 2-3 snow bogs. Also used the saw to clear small trees. cuts great. The only down side is that my sled partner bought one very similar (difference in the saw mount) for half the price at the Ski Doo dealership.

Suncast makes a good quality sturdy shovel. I have used one of their snow shovels for several years. The shovel is sturdy yet light weight, a GOOD overall design. The D-handle and shaft work well with no excess flex.

The shaft has a grip texture to it to keep your hand from slipping. The scoop has built in ribs, and collects snow and cuts wind-drift without flexing. The metal edge blade where the scoop contacts the ground is riveted on, and thick enough to not wear out in just a few seasons.

Our cement sidewalk has a very rough surface texture, and the shovels metal edge shows very little wear after 3 seasons, so I am impressed with the shovels quality. Overall I have to give the Suncast shovels a top rating.

I would recommend this brand of shovel to everyone.

And I am very. very pleased. Very nice shovels at a great price. One stays here for next winter (although snow just didn’t happen this year) but the other heads down 300 miles to the Outer Banks of NC.

Have had a house there for 32 years. Need snow shovels for drifted sand. And the san is heavy and abrasive, so good snowshovels are preferred — and plastic and fiberglass help because of salt and humidity.

I like these shovels, and I also really like the ease of pick-up. An associate brought the purchase to my car after I had a nice conversation with the associate who answered the call. Great experience overall.
