20 Best Car Stereo Microphone (2022 Updated)

Combining this microphone with a compatible Sony camera is both convenient and seamless. However, there are a couple flaws that resulted in me returning the item. First and most importantly, there is a noticeable hiss even when tinkering with the db sensitivity.

It can be taken out in post but I prefer not to take that extra step. Second, the method of charging is still using micro USB inputs. To me, this just screams old and outdated. In an era when end users are quickly adopting USB-C as the standard, seeing this bothers me.

Sure, it’s a nit, but I am willing to give up the convenience of a 3. 5mm cable-less interface and pay a little extra for the Rode Wireless Go II because there’s just a lot more you get for the money.

In short, I think it’s a good mic and appropriately priced, but if you’re able to pay a little more, I believe there is better value in this segment.

Have the zv1 camera with the boom mike. Needed a mike that can capture at a distance. This works perfectly and comes with a holder that helps it from getting lost. Only drawback is that its an attachment and not something you can use with your phone.

Prob will end up getting a rode mike next.

I’ve done a fair bit of motorcycle vlogging over the years, with a variety of cameras and mics. This new noise-reducing mic for the Drift Ghost is outstanding. Speech is crystal clear and you can hear the exhaust note too with minimal wind noise.

Good bit of kit that would only be improved if it was included with the camera. The standard built in the cam mic really can’t handle any wind noise above walking pace.

This is a standard microphone jack with an adapter to plug into the camera charge port, the microphone has a foam cushion on it to reduce background noise and it works well, a metal clip is included to secure it to something but I found it too bulky to place in my helmet so removed it.

Just what I needed. Very well built accessory. Nicely Priced, well packed, and quickly shipped. Buy this and be happy!

Good build quality, easy to operate. Have not tried earphone plug however dont foresee any issue.

Classroom setting. Rally Bar at the front of the room and the mic pod placed on a desk about 15 feet from the Rally Bar. When kids in the back of the room spoke, the Mic Pod did well and the participants on the other side could hear them, but the students in the front of the room were then muffled and difficult to hear from the remote participants.

I purchased this microphone for my Sony A7 IV. It connects easily, I like not to have to worry about a battery running out of power. I like to have access to the settings on the back. Sound definitely is improved.

I find it simply a little bit pricey, but advantage of not having to deal with cable and the size made me buy it.

This mic has a good sound quality without any EQ. It already has the built in high frequency “air” without EQ, but definitely not obnoxiously so. Normally that EQ would cause a lot of high-pitched feedback, but not with this mic, if it is correctly placed in relation to the monitors/mains.

The pickup/polar pattern of this mic strongly rejects off-axis high frequencies. I like the OM-7 WAY more than a Shure SM58 (that’s not saying much) and a bit more than a Shure Beta58a (that is saying something).

It sounds closer to a condenser mic without the bleed. I also compared it to Blue 200 and 300 series mics. The Blue 300 sounds equal or slightly better but doesn’t have as much gain before feedback and it had more bleed from other instruments on stage (drums, bass, guitars, etc.

) because it’s a condenser mic. I use two Bose L1 Model II units for the PA/monitors in a full 5-piece rock band scenario on a loud stage and in a small practice room.

Audix OM7 is the best solution for eliminating stage noise such as drums, amps and monitors that bleed into your mic. I confirmed this at a gig when comparing it with the Sennheiser e945, which also claims to have excellent noise rejection.

I use in ear monitors in a 6 piece band that plays bars on weekends. In the 1st set, I used the OM7, which eliminated virtually all of the ambient stage noise, I could only hear my vocals and my guitar.

I used the e945 in the 2nd set, but it wasn’t much better than my e835 or Beta58. Lots of stage noise. I used the 0M7 again in the 3rd set. I am amazed by this mic’s noise rejection. The other mics dont even come close.

The crowd said the vocals are much clearer out front. Obviously because it’s only my vocals coming through the Mic. No more bleed of drums, guitars and other vocals. You do need to be right on the Mic, lips to the screen.

And the soundman will need to increase the gain quite a bit. But the results are very impressive. No more shellshock from all the noise in my ears.

I on a bunch of audio mics. 4 on7s. This mic has incredible sound quality. actually Had singer say it sounds to much like himself. Front to rear ratio is one of top in industry. You need loud monitors this is your tool.

Start with input gain about 3-6 dB hotter than most mics. High pass a must. Once artists are up and Going I usually adjust the high pass up to about 150 plus on the monitor board. So proud when the artists ask me to turn it down in the MonitorMix.

I got a Sony Bluetooth Stereo for the truck, but the internal mic was not very good, so I needed an external microphone. The Sony XA-MC10 is recommended by Sony and now by me. It is a very good microphone.

It has enough wire to go where needed in the truck. I put mine on the molding strip by the driver side door and my callers can hear me just great. Even my passenger speaking in a normal voice can be heard with no problem.

And oh yeah, did I mention this is a TRUCK, not the most quiet ride. My boyfreind put this in for me, and several days later asked me how it was working. He had called me multiple times while I was driving and didn’t even realize I was in the truck when he called.

If I put a bluetooth stereo in another vehicle, I’ll no doubt put a Sony XA-MC10 Microphone in it as well.

When I made my first call while driving, I was happy to hear the person on the other end couldn’t tell I was in my car. They said there was no road noise or echoing. Now people don’t hate me when I call from my car.

This is a plug and play application. I used to get a lot of complaints about road noise and being hard to hear. With this item I was asked by a customer to add up a couple items on my calculator and when I told the customer I was traveling at 65 mph and would not run a calculator he was shocked.

He thought I was in my office. This product does what is says and I would recommend it to everyone who wants a great performing product for their car.

I’ve been an audio engineer for. a long time and I’m always skeptical of these ‘auto-eq’ measurement mics, but in this case I’m glad I was wrong. It really did a solid job! I would be hard pressed to say someone could do better without a whole lot of other gear and time.

This took, literally, 10 minutes to complete and the difference was both noticeable and impressive.

I bought a mic to fit my pioneer stereo but it had the wrong attachment. I had to buy an adapter. The mic came with nothing else. Not even double sided tape to adhere it to a surface. Very overpriced for what it was.

As stated in the title, I like those options but wish it had a dedicated button on the front panel for subwoofer volume. Also, I wish the midrange high pass frequency could be crossed over at 800Hz for mid bass use.

Maybe a firmware update could fix that.

Great product, compact size. Wish the cabling was a little bit longer but it is standard size so no complaints.

The mic works well. The plug was not a straight plug as shown in the advertisement, it was a 90 plug, but that did not interfere with the installation.

Works great , could have been a bit longer cable just fits in place in my BMW no slack on cable but it’s ok in it’s self good price suppose that reflects the price

I would recommend this product to others. Hopefully I will not have to purchase this item again, I already miss placed two if them.

I thought this would be fun for my daughter while in the car. Sadly, it doesn’t work as it should. When tuned to whatever radio station you want, it interferes with channel and you hear NO songs coming from that station.

If you have an older car, I have a 2016 car, you can’t run an iPod, your downloaded music on your phone etc. All you can do on it is hear your own voice with no music at all. We even watched YouTube videos about this product and all the cars were very new and had the iPad like displays and nothing older.

It was a disappointment for sure.

To be fair we think QVC does a very good job getting and choosing quality, fun items to sell. We enjoy over 90% of what we purchase, really. However, I was surprised seeing Millenial/Gen Z guy Justin Sochovka and friends sitting in a parked car pushing this.

In the B roll ad for the microphone we see more Millenials and Gen Zers literally driving cars in public with one hand, no hands, looking to the passenger to their right while singing and driving. Really QVC? Are you that reckless presenting this like that? Rick Dohmeyer and other host’s have sold this too.

Kind of disappointing and irresponsible of QVC.

Good mic but is not compatible with all cars. Took this on a roadtrip & was not compatible with my husband Lexus. Although it did work, it was delayed and echoed too much. On my Civic or our Van it works perfectly fine.

The Bluetooth setting worked fine, but the AUX seems to work better. For the price, it’s a decent mic. I think we could find a better mic for a better deal elsewhere.

This is the second one Ive purchased. The first one still working great in my work truck. When I installed a cb in my personal vehicle, I didnt have to think twice on which mic Id be using. Crystal clear and very well made.

100% all original real deal Telex Turner Road King 56. In my own opinion the very best CB microphone ever made. Best noise cancelling mic of all. I bout 4 of the mics. Just so that I’d have extra and also backups.

They are to hard to find to not want to buy extras. I would be a couple every week.

These new ones are no where near the quality of the old turners. I have a turner i have used for 20 years, have a buddy that bought one of these new ones and its junk. Even the element is smaller and of less quality.

Skip the rk and look elsewhere. Quality has declined drastically on these.

For ANY Dodge ,Jeep or Chrysler product using a MYGIG entertainment/navigation system with hands free calling or voice control. Access to the rear of the radio is necessary and may not be simple. Installation instructions are advisory, not mandatory.

Case in point; recommended location on my Dodge Ram was near the top of the left/front pillar. Placement was on the dash between the instrument panel and radio, level with the a/c vent. Subsequent phone call was very satisfactory.

Cable length is ample.

This is an OEM microphone so it installs/fits perfectly and functions as it should. If you own a Wrangler and want to activate your Bluetooth function you’ll need this after going thru menu and activating Uconnect on head unit.

It was easy to install. The installation was about 30-40 minutes. The instructions suggested to route the mic’s cord across and under the dash, behind the pillar molding on the driver’s side but preferred it to be mounted on the left side of the molding of the stereo.

Works great and feel safer driving while talking on my cell when it have to.

As you know, condenser mics can be upwards of $500. 00! This one you can get used for $50 to $75!! You really cannot tell the difference much in a live situation between this one and the more expensive ones.

With studio of course, more subtle differences can be noticed. But I see no downside to this mic if you cannot afford the big boys. It is simply a great mic, affordable and durable, and at a great price! I tried one and ordered 3 more for my sound company.

I am in love with Shure SM81’s. But I see no reason to pay the price when I can get these. At least for live anyway!.

This is a totally great mic. I’m using it for the Hi-hat on the drum kit. I’m sure that a couple of these would be great “overhead” mics. I also think it would record acoustic guitar very well too. Very clean and detailed sound.

The price of this was very reasonable. Way cheaper than many that don’t compare. Grab one. or two!!.

This mic is designed for instruments but we have found it adequate for vocal groups in our live church setting. Some of our singers WILL NOT stay close to a mic. It has good off-axis pickup which helps in our situation but could add extraneous noise if your source wasn’t close to the mic.

As a tie clip mic, it works really really well. Great sound quality, and a minimum of noise. provided said tie, or other garment that its attached too doesn’t move around too much. I also use $$$$ headpiece mics, but one of my guys complains they are not all that comfortable.

so I ran one of these in parallel just to compare the voice quality. Its not the same of course, but for online streaming, the difference is almost non-existent. I’ve even used these units for broadcast purposes in some situations.

I first started using this, when one of my $$$ mics quite working, and I had a big concert to record. I figured, well its better than nothing. and by golly, it worked out really well. I now routinely use these mics for ambient recording, as well as some piano work, and have been really pleased with their performance.

Alas, placement is key, and even though my colleagues may laugh at my use of a consumer mic, they also compliment me on the results. Alas, there is a steep learning curve, when using a microphone for purposes other than what it was designed for.

Just like any microphone, you can’t just throw it in a room, hit record and expect good results.

I wanted some microphone that can easily connect to DR-05X. After looking for some reviews, i found this Sony ECM-CS3. Pros: 1)Length of microphone – its medium size, good for using on short distances, but on long distances its too short for it.

2)Sound Quality- The sound quality is perfect. 3)Size – its small so it easily fits in my motorcycle helmet and it does not have additional power supply, so it is power supplied with your Recorder. 4) Cheap- it is much cheaper and better in quality than some other microphones on the market.

Cons: i cant find any, for some it will be the length. also nothing extra comes with it, it is just the microphone, no other adapters. I will give it 9\10, because of the length and no extra adapters or anything,but for its price its perfect.

I’m just using it to mic a musical instrument. For a classical guitar (with the right mounting adapter), it works very well for the price. The only drawback is that there is some mic rub noise from the attached cable.

But the plug and play power works well with wireless adapters and small pre-amp recorders. It find it quite useful.

Having used the mono XM1 with my HXR-NX30 with excellent results, I hesitated trying the stereo upgrade for my HDR-AX2000. I have been recording loud music gigs and feel the overall sound quality is just as good if not a tad better.

It has a better signal-to-noise ratio, as the staff has informed me. I originally had an Audio Technica AT875R and although the specs were comparable, there is no comparison to these Sony mics in the same price range.

The Sonys are much cleaner sounding with less distortion. I have not used it often enough to tell how left-to-right 2-channel separation sounds, but regardless, it’s a keeper. Highly recommended.

Got mine today. It is compact and fits perfectly to the Sony FX3 handgrip’s mike holder. The sound quality is great. If you want a stereo mike with XLR connection, this is the one to go for.

I’ve had my eye on a Rode NT1-A for many years after using one on a music technology course. I’ve never really had enough need but recently I bought an acoustic imaging pedal that allows you to record your own images, and my daughter has begun to get interested in recording songs she’s written.

I’ve been using a Shure SM58 which sounded good, so I wanted something that was a step up from that. I haven’t used the Rode a great deal yet but it definitely gives a more open sound and doesn’t need to be as close to the acoustic guitar to get a good level.

It’s well packaged and everything feels very solid and well built. Although it doesn’t come with a hard case like some other microphones, it means more of the money goes on the microphone itself.

I have two of these that I use for recording almost everything. They have good ‘presence’ even if the sound source is 2 feet away. When I got the first one I had my wife record some narration to go with her home movies and she said of all the recordings she had made in her entire life the ones made with this mic “made me sound like ‘ME’ ” This is just an all-around good mic with great sound for the cost.

Just be aware that this mic requires 48 volt ‘phantom power’ to operate. So you have to use something like an M-Audio USB prepay/interface so that it can provide the Phantom Power to the mic. This mic will NOT work with a portable tape recorder or a Public Address Amplifier without inserting a Phantom Power Supply in the line.

Also, it comes with a shock mount for a reason. This is NOT intended to be a handheld microphone. It will pick up every thump, bump, and slide motion made by a person’s hands. It NEEDS to mounted on a mic stand WITH the shock mount.

Otherwise it will pick up vibrations from people walking on the floor. It is VERY sensitive. I can use it in my living room to record the wind chimes out on my front porch 40 feet away. I once recorded a friend playing piano, but before we could get started we had to shut off her refrigerator in the kitchen and unplug her electric clock because this mic could hear the clock motor humming (which we could not hear with our normal ears).

But if you want to pickup every nuance of an acoustic guitar being played. THIS is the right mic for it!.

Reading raving reviews for inexpensive gear I’m always a little skeptical as to if the people writing them are just looking for some sort of validation as sound engineers. I bought this microphone because it has the frequency response that I have found to be the most optimal for vocals.

The thing that concerned me the most was floor noise. It’s actually quite low on this CAD condenser. I was considering spending more and getting a Rode NT1-a, which I tested out at a local music store, but opted out for this mic because all the video reviews I found for this CAD mic were low-fi d.

i. y. style demos that sounded clear and warm. All the video reviews for NT1-a I found were pro and usually done in a well insulated studio, hence making the mic sound amazing. I did find one video for NT1-a that was a low-fi type of thing and it sounded very shrill, which correlates with the huge bump in it’s frequency responce at 3500khz.

Only thing about this mic is it’s body is kinda cheaply made but soundwise it’s surpassed my expectations.

I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of this microphone. It captures a lot of detail without sounding too tinny or bright. For the price, I had been expecting the audio to be a little muddy and flat, but this is not the case.

I have been able to use it in a couple of very different recording settings: as a mic for an acoustic guitar in my home studio, and also as an off-camera mic for recording a documentary-style video (an interview setting).

The microphone was outstanding in both environments. In the home studio, I was immediately impressed with the clarity I could hear from my guitar. My initial placement was level with the neck of the guitar and six inches away, aiming directly at the twelfth fret.

This placement works great for strumming. Another placement is to have the microphone on a boom pole about eight inches above and six inches away from the guitar, angled down towards the twelfth fret.

This placement seemed to work best for finger-style guitar, as it captured a nice warm tone without being too bass-heavy (when I tried finger-style guitar in the first placement, it captured way too much of the wood sound whenever my thumb would release a string).

While it was not designed for this, I was also able to use the microphone to capture audio from an interview for a video I was making. It was a windy day, and the building was rattling and echoing like crazy.

I didn’t use any special filters, but the microphone did an excellent job of eliminating the noise while capturing some crisp dialogue. It’s range is not as good as a shotgun (i. e. , super-cardioid) mic, so it had to be pretty close to the speaker.

I was only able to get it close enough because the camera was zoomed in to a close-up. If the angle were any wider, I don’t think I would have been able to get the microphone close enough to capture the necessary detail.

Overall, a fantastic microphone for the price. It works great in the home studio, and it can double as an off-camera mic for video if you really need it.

I bought one of these and it lasted almost one year. I don’t make a lot of calls when I drive but the one day I had to take a call the answer button wouldn’t work. I went to press it and not movement.

It wouldn’t click. I had an electronic repair person take it apart thinking maybe he could change the switch under the screen, but nope. I was told that the lithium battery inside was swollen and it should be thrown out immediately.

so I did. then I bought a Scosche BT/FM transmitter. Best transmitter ever. I can stream music and take and answer calls right through my radio now. And no batteries to fail!.

Have been using my speaker on my phone for years but too many complaints from others on how hard it was to hear me. First phone using the Jabra and the person thought I was talking to them directly from my phone, the quality of the call to them was very very good.

Called a couple more people, and all said the same. Their sound quality of hearing me was excellent. However, cant say the same for me with the sound from the Jabra Drive. Tinny, distant, distorted. Think that should sum it up.

To be honest, really quite disappointed with the sound. Had to pull over twice on the first two phone calls just to hear what the person was saying. In retrospect, I wouldnt buy this again. Update Have returned this, the call quality from the speaker was so bad for so many calls it was just unusable.

Great little bluetooth. Didnt want a fitted one as always changing cars so this did the trick. I was worried about speaker quality at first but neednt have been, i can hear the caller very well and they have no problems the other end either and the volume goes up quite high.

Very easy to use and set up took seconds. Tiny downside for people like me who do very short car journeys is that it doesnt have time to fully charge so I have to take it into the house and plug it in.

and then remember to take it back to the car. You can charge in the car via the cigarette lighter but cable is only about a foot long so has to be removed from visor but i am sure you could easily get a longer cable.

I would still happily recommend it though.
