20 Best Car Wheel Dollies (2022 Updated)

have a set of hydraulic wheel dollys from eastwood and was frustrated with them, had to jack up the car to get them under the wheels and then the rollers would not swivel and move was a pain to try to move the car.

Then I order these and get them, could tell right off they were better quality and they were already lubed up. took them over to my x5 and went to put them under the wheels no problem, opened up far enough to get both sides of the tire and then just jacked it up easy, once all four were in place, I tried to more the x5 and it rolled as I had hoped it would, no fears of denting the sheet metal by pushing to hard.

the wheels on my x5 are 315/35/20’s thats a 12. 5″ wide tire all the way around my vehicle. should have bought these in the first place. now to sell my eastwood dollies and get another set for my z3m roadster.

Great product, but not cheap. You get what you pay for. Cheaper knock-off copies do not function anywhere near as well as the GoJaks.

I use the Gojaks to move cars in the garage, especially if the cars don’t run. I put this purchase off for a long time.

The box was destroyed but all pieces were there. The cap on one of the wheel nuts was missing but other than that it works as advertised for moving a lawnmower trailer out of the way up against the wall and into a tight corner of the garage.

The product seems to be decent quality, but when my vehicle was placed on them they would not budge! My vehicle weighs 3200lbs, so these should have no issue rolling per the “capacity. ” Even pushing with a truck the wheels would not roll.

Very solidly built and very heavy duty casters. I use them to roll my side by side UTV into the corner and out of the way.

After I recently purchased a 1500 lb. military diesel generator for back up power, I found that my plan to open a large garage door and opposite wall window in my detached garage still didn’t provide enough ventilation for the diesel smoke.

When customizing an exhaust system became too involved, I thought, “how could I mount the generator skids on wheels”. When I saw Merrick’s auto dollies I knew I had the answer. These very sturdy, four wheeled dollies were really the ticket.

After jacking up the generator and placing the dollies under the four corners, I was able to push the generator out of the garage onto a cement pad; exhaust issue solved! Each of the four caster wheels on the separate dollies roll and spin easily (I did spray each set with some lubricating oil prior to placement) making it a breeze for just one person–me–to place my generator exactly where I neeeded it.

A perfect, customized application for dollies intended for automobiles in shops. Great job Merrick!.

I bought these for my 66 Ford Galaxie that isn’t running. The car is heavy and long!. I figured I would try them. I needed to move the car in my garage for storage. I assembled these by hand and only hand tightened the caster bolts.

I then sprayed the wheel bearings with wd-40. I was able to move the car by myself on an epoxy floor. Moving the car sideway was easier than trying to move the car backwards or forwards. I found that if I rocked the car I was able to get enough momentum to get it to move backwards.

They did what I wanted them to do at a very reasonable price. I almost considered paying about $1000 for the GoJak’s. Glad I tried these first. If you have an epoxy floor I would suggest making sure it is CLEAN and free of any small rocks or sand or whatever.

The wheels won’t roll over them but push and scrape the surface. I found out the hard way. lol.

Honestly I am disappointed. I used these to put my 1985 BMW 535i on so I could move the car around without starting the car. My garage floor is a standard concrete floor. Pushing the car from side to side was very difficult and I am a fit guy who lifts in the gym 4-5 times a week.

The wheels just didn’t seem free-flowing even though with no weight on them they move just fine.

I haven’t had a chance to use it yet but it is very well made and solid. My biggest complaint are the instructions or lack thereof. There is but one small picture with every step on this one pic. It is very small and a very poor picture at that.

I had to take a picture with my iPad and blow it up to try and make sense of it. There is a parts list that is cross referenced with the installation picture but it too is of very poor quality. The are 3 sizes of bushings but the parts list has them all listed as ‘bushings’ with no indication which bushing is to be used in which spot, in fact there are four bushings with a lip on them and there is nothing in the instructions that tell you where they go, you are on your own with these.

I looked on their web sites and YouTube and there is nothing anywhere that will help you with the assembly. I’m a pretty handy guy and I figured it out but you’re not handy, you will really struggle with it.

Definitely a huge help when I’m rotating my wheels or just servicing my truck, but need a wheel or two off. I’m a fat unhealthy slob that has no strength with chronic back pain. This definitely helps lifting my 33″ and 35″ wheels now.

I’ll be moving the truck with 35″ to 37″ tires very soon and should be a breeze using this tool also.

Very well made product. It did not include any instructions to out together. I did have a cad drawing. I think the picture of the product and cad drawing is incorrect after viewing a similar one video and pictures from a competitor.

I placed the taller black wheel in the back similar to the competitor. It stands up now and will be easier to use.

The wheels on these wheel dollies are poor quality and barely functional. With two large men on a smooth garage floor, you are not able to turn the car at all. If all you need is to roll in a single direction and back, then these are for you.

I bought these for a short box chevy that is mostly disassembled. The cab and the engine are essentially all that is on the frame. I could easily move the back of the truck side to side but I was physically unable to move the front of the truck.

I replaced the wheels on the two front dollies with steel wheels from casters purchased at home depot. This cost an additional $50. I can now move the truck across my shop. Not at all happy with this purchase.

I would have returned them but I needed to get my truck repositioned.

Well built dollies. Easily handled the weight and roll smooth. I bought 2 sets to use around the shop. Rebuilding an old tractor with loaded wheels. They work awesome.

Price OK, Design SUCKS! Absolutely several problems that I had with this tool. First the 4 bolts that secure the wheel assemblies are too small! These small bolts will cause the bolts to bend if any heavy side loads occur.

the bolts on the other dolly are heaverier. The other problem is the 7/8 nut attached to the wheel does not have enough height to let a standard wrench hold the nut while tightening the rounded top bolt holding this assembly together.

At least please sell a set of thinner wrenches so we can put this thing together. The first and second assembly procedures did not have the correct drawing because it never showed the flat washer being used.

I use to have to drive 120 miles to get to a Harbor Freight store, now I only have to drive 60 miles but the cost of gas has gone up and for last purchase I had to still drive 120 miles to get this problem fix! But I still love HF but getting older and have less money!.

These are no good if you’re trying to move an old classic or a pickup truck. The issue is the design and the fact that the consumer has to the assembly part. And if you don’t tighten it in the right way, the load weight will bend the wheels terrible.

Luckily I was able to insure everything I bought everytime, but it did get frustrating. Also. Availability. They do not have a ready stock of these in each store. So I did a lot of traveling to replace the models.

Not good. Lastly are the wheels. If your garage or driveway is not cleaned and polished, the slightest piece of broken wood or plastic will render the wheels immovable. But it does have great value for smaller cars and SUVS.

So glad I finally broke down and bought these vehicle dollies. Needed just one set for the front of my truck while I finish the engine rebuild and restoration process. I only have the tires mounted to the hubs and moving it was a pickle due to the steering not connected yet along with the front transmission not being installed yet either.

So when I attempted to move the truck the tires sort of did their own thing. These dollies are priced lower than the other brands and appear to be just as strong and roll better than I had hoped. The steel was painted well, and metal was plenty thick enough to handle my truck.

Very tempting to go back and purchase a second set after seeing these. Very handy to have when you’re moving heavy’things’.

Used the dolly to lift the front set of tires on my dual axle boat trailer making it maneuver like a single axle trailer. I need this ability due to small garage. My boat and trailer weighs 5K lbs so I’m pushing the limit of the dollies but so far so good.

Will work only on a smooth concrete floor otherwise dolly wheels won’t turn. The dolly ratcheting mechanism operates easy and smooth lifting or lowering at about 2 inch increments. I do have to stand using all my weight on the ratchet arm when lifting the trailer to it’s final height but I’m not a big guy.

I do use the Trailer Valet 5X Swivel Jack in conjunction with these Daytona dollies which makes maneuvering the trailer in the garage an easy one person job. Time will tell how long the dollies will last but they are stout and well designed… just need to keep well greased.

I have never done this before, that is moving a car sideways so I was nervous to say the least. However, after taking the time slowly, it worked great. I had to move my dead Dodge Challenger ( this is not a light car ) across my garage floor to the other side and over a concrete control joint and had zero problems in doing so.

I’m hoping that I can use these again ( I’m sure I will ) but not on my dead car. Best place to pull / push is by the wheels in my opinion. Make sure that what your moving on is flat. My garage has a little pitch for drainage so I could feel just a slight (a very slight) movement ( not anything to panic about) in the slope direction.

Just be ready to lock the dolleys brakes. I would definitely recommend these to anyone who needs to move around their vehicles in tight spots such as their garage. They will not disappoint you.

I had purchased this tool to help with rotating the 60 pound wheels and tires on my new vehicle. I was pretty sure it wouldn’t work for moving a car around. When I tried to to use it, it operated as it should with no load, but as soon as there was a load, it acted like there was a problem with the check valve in the hydraulic ram that couldn’t hold the pressure.

Simply do not work. I loaded my 1996 ram 2500, minus the front clip, hood, all bumpers, and bed onto these alleged 10 k dollies and I could not budge it an inch. When I first loaded it, I could see the metal frames bowing which would in turn change the angles of the wheel positions.

After unloading the truck from the dollies, I could see multiple stress lines in the solid rubber wheels (tires). These dollies will not hold the described weight and probably wouldn’t work with 7500 k.

On the very positive side, upon my first review of this item, Summit Racing reached out to me and refunded my entire purchase minus tax. They also paid for the return shipping and it only took about a week and a half for all of this to happen following my review.

These are a high quality American made product. Good steel, and good casters. We used these to put under our 5000 lb. travel trailer. We then pushed the travel trailer over to one side of our shop and made much more room for ourselves.

This was a much better solution for us than buying a trailer steer dolly. Excellent product and excellent service from Summit.

I ordered two of these auto dolly kits. The casters in each kit had slightly different physical features. In one kit, all of the casters turn very freely. The other kit, 5 of the 8 casters did not turn freely under zero load with a couple that were quite difficult to turn.

I contacted both Summit and Merrick and both were very helpful. I sent them a picture of the casters and specified which ones I wanted and Merrick is shipping me new ones right away. The casters that had the 17mm nut on the wheel and a smooth stud were the ones that did not work well.

The casters that had the 14mm nut on the wheel and stamped “star” on the bottom of the stud worked great.

Just purchased four of these dollies. All leak oil. I contacted customer service and they told me there were four reasons possible. The cylinders could have been mishandled during shipping (none of the boxes were damaged), The pressure release valve (top) needs to be tight (it was), The threads into the cylinder may be loose (can’t turn them or whole unit will not be level), or the oil drain plug might be loose? Or, it might be cracked so the customer should check all these things.

Obviously there is no testing or quality control coming out of the factory and customer service tells you these things and washes their hands of you. BAD COMPANY!!.

Unpacked these jacks and installed the casters in no time. Within 1/2 hour of unpacking, I was jacking up my 1981 Caddy Coupe de Ville and pushing it around the shop by myself. Very satisfied with the product.

Would recommend it to anybody that needs to easily move a motor vehicle around with very little effort.

I bought this product to assist in removing/replacing the tires on my SUV. I have back problems that are aggravated by this task. I do ok with car tires but the SUV tires are much larger and heavier.

The release valve has a weird spongy feel to it but it has worked fine every time I use it. This jack is a very useful and well built product.

used under a dodge 2500 with a diesel. center sagged and rubbed floor. whole truck weighs 6000 lb. dollies are suppose to hold 5000 lb

Using for our 28 foot travel trailer to move for storing out of way in shop. Works very well.

I found that moving my 3500 pound car was impossible initially. Finally, I jacked up the vehicle to remove most of the weight from the dolly wheels. With most of the weight off of the dollies, I rotated the wheels on every dolly to the direction I wished to move the car.

Once this was done I was finally able to move the vehicle on my own. I simply was unable to get the car to go anywhere at first. Once moving I found that minor changes in direction were possible but a second person was required to alter the direction of the other end of the vehicle.

I did my research and this brand has wheels with bearings. Summit had the best deal I found on them. This model # is the more expensive, “heavy duty” rated set. I put a heavy, 1949 Chevy long-wheelbase 1 ton panel truck project on them so I could move it out from the wall in the garage sometimes.

These are great – truck sits about 6″ from the expansion gap in the floor. Even without room to get rolling and get momentum, it rolls right over that. Of course having that much weigh on casters has some limitations.

If wheels are turned 90 degrees from the way you need them aimed, you will either have to push kind of in a “arc”, to get them to follow then go the way you want. This is difficult in a *small* space, so I have to tap the wheels around with a hammer to point them the right way.

Then I can move it straight out from the wall. That is to be expected, but the casters are strong and roll well! ONE issue – These are industrial quality, EXPENSIVE and are supposedly POWDER COATED. Other people have the same issue.

these come with paint loss just from being in the box together. I was able to remove flaking paint with a fingernail. There is no way they are powder coated. More like some epoxy paint with bad surface prep.

I finally decided it was time to work on my Camaro. Unfortunately, my garage is only a car and a half wide so to get it away from the wall, I went to purchase some dollys. Initially I went to my local Harbor Freight and bought their 1500lb set.

They moved the front of the car easy enough, but there’s no sheet metal, engine or trans in it. Once I got all 4 under the vehicle, I couldn’t budge it. I put myself between the wall and the quarter panel and couldn’t get the car to budge.

I immediately took them back apart and returned them. Of course the ones i ordered from Summit were about 3x more expensive, but worth every penny. I can put my knee against the frame rail and nudge the car right over with ease.

I would highly recommend these to anyone that needs to cart their car around. Also, my floor isn’t exactly smooth. I have an epoxy coat on it, but it’s a rough texture. very old concrete, but with these dollys, I can still move my car quite easily by myself.

I purchased this product to move a 2400 lb racecar on a regular concrete garage floor. Even with three people, the car was impossible to move. Very disappointed. Larger diameter wheels might help. It would also be good if the casters rotated more easily in the horizontal plane, which would allow the wheels to align better with the desired direction of car movement.

Overall appearance is fine, but quality is poor because the dolly does not fulfill its intended purpose. UPDATE: The remedy was an upgrade to heavy duty casters. Results – with the HD casters I can move the car satisfactorily.

Suggestion – My car has 18″ x 10″ wheels. I bought the 12″ x 12″ dollies. It’s very difficult to prevent the tires from resting on the mounting studs of the casters. The 12″ x 16″ dolly would have been a better choice.

Warning – When installing the casters, tighten the mounting nut only to the point of compressing the lock washer. Any tension beyond that unnecessarily binds the bearings and makes moving the car more difficult.

This is exactly what I wanted for the price. I wanted maximum weight for the price. An not spend $1,000 for GoJacks? So I’m excited an grateful that I don’t have to spend an arm an a leg for this order/product.

I’m very pleased with the heavy duty metal structuring of these dollies. Unfortunately, I haven’t tried them under anything really heavy yet. I hope they can hold up without breaking like my wood ones did.

Very well built. Heavy gauge steel. Definitely worth the extra money over the lesser expensive units. Able to push my mustang around the garage by myself.

I was skeptical based on the price, but i was willing to take a chance on them based on other reviews. They work as advertised. So much so that i ordered a 2nd set

I was excited to finally get these. The only thing is I hope the profile is not going to be too tall. They worked fine on my lowered Acura TL. The only other thing is that I’m not sure what the wheels are made of.

They look to be plastic. So far just rolling around in my shop the wheels are still black. Other that that these are a huge time saver.

Husband was very happy to get these. He had borrowed some from a friend; the large wheels were so much better on varied surfaces (blacktop, concrete) than other styles with very small wheels. For example: with very small wheels, 2 of us struggled to push a large vehicle.

With GoJak, one can almost do it alone!.

They are a high quality tool for any shop or garage. It took me awhile to finally break down and buy them, as they are expensive. I didn’t want to buy cheap jack dollies that did not roll Easily and waste money wishing I bought these.

These are very easy to use and worth the money. Also a small warning they do hit my caltrac traction bars if I am not careful positioning them. I am very happy with this purchase. It’s about time a bought them.

This dolly rack is lightweight but rugged, holding four jacks. The jacks are not easy to slip on or off. Maybe after a little use they will get easier. Nice to be able to store four dolly jacks in a small area and wheel them to and from the vehicle.

A well made product, just like the 4520 dolly jack. I got the rack quickly from Summit Racing Equipment. SRE was excellent in providing information about my order and tracking information. Summing up, this is a rugged rack that holds four dolly jacks in a compact package that easily rolls about.

If the jacks could be easily put on and taken off the rack I would give it five stars. I put the jacks on upside down from what I see in most pictures or videos on line as this allows me to slide the rack with the dollies on under some cabinets in my garage.

They were just as hard to put on and off whichever way I placed them on the rack.

Item was as advertised. My purchase was based on a referral from a trusted friend who owns a set and he was absolutely correct, these dollies worked extremely well on my project car. These dollies allow me to single handedly move the car around the garage without having to move it into the driveway and manipulate the car back into the center of the two-car garage, to work on it.

Very nicely built, smooth operation and finished.

I’ve used these to move a couple of my trucks around in the garage. It moved a 3/4 ton pickup with large tires with no problem. I’ve had the cheaper ones that you need to jack the vehicle up and stuff them under each tire.

One at a time. Very time consuming and in the end, very difficult to push the truck around. Finally took the leap and bought these and regret not buying them right away. The storage rack is a must! Otherwise you’ll have issues trying to store them neatly.

Don’t waste your money on the cheaper “knock off” brands, Buy once, Cry once!.

I put a 77 Trans Am on them, a 3,600 pound car, dollies took the weight well. Car rolled easily side ways but I struggled when switching directions to forward and back. Took my adult kid and I to get car to move.

Very HD dollies, but do not think for a minute you will push your car around like your snowmobile on dollies. I have a second set that I am putting under a 3,000 pound car, will update when I see how that goes.

Received mine without one caster. Summit made it good after a couple of tries. But, that knocks off a star because it cost me a couple of weekends without the use of the dollies. If you order these, don’t be in a hurry…you might be short a wheel.

The product is just as I expected. I bought 2 sets ofcourse of course to have 4 total. I did have one caster wheel missing which I already saw was a common theme in all the other reviews. I called customer service right away.

They took care of it and 2 days later I had my missing caster wheel waiting at the house. I have a sedan in the dollies and it’s a little hard to push by myself but still moves pretty easy one the casters turn to the direction I need to go.

All together I would say this is a great product.
