20 Best Carabiner For Hammock (2022 Updated)

No more leaving my backpack on the floor during hiking breaks, or on the floor of a disgusting bathroom stall–sometimes people break the hooks in the stalls and you have to resort to putting the bag on the floor D:<.

I’ve also seen other cool ways people have used it for that I haven’t tried yet–like hanging my backpack in the car as well so that it doesn’t shuffle around. I just leave it on my backpack and it holds onto my pepper spray and headphones when “not in use”.

It’s really sturdy and I have no doubt it can hold a lot of weight (like a heavy 17″ laptop, text books, 36-40 ounce hydroflask, and tablet). When I go on my next trip, I’m going to use it to suspend water from a heavy reservoir I have, and I have no concerns for it breaking under the weight.

If you are on the fence about it, just know that there are so many uses for it that it could never be a pointless purchase–you can use it for so many purposes you will never run out of ideas.

I have seen Heroclip for a while now but with the pandemic could not justify adding it to the everyday carry because I am traveling for work or even to the office. Recently I started going to the office more and realized that I have nowhere to put my bag but the floor.

If was after one of these trips to the office that I realized I have the perfect solution after seeing Heroclip on a couple of boards I belong to. I put one up it was an amazing addition to the gear I bring into the office.

not only do I use it for keeping my gear off the ground but my friends have been grabbing it from me to use around the office for quick projects where they don’t have enough hands. A couple of them have seen the light and purchased their own as well.

Pros – Does its job well – Small, easy to store – Super useful anywhere you want to hang something, ie bathrooms without a hook. Cons – Plastic hinges become loose quickly – Maybe some QC issues(?) Pretty useful, especially for rolltop bags where the flap just wants to flop down when you’re trying to access it while it’s set down.

It’s pretty small and I wouldn’t use it as a normal carabiner though. Just get a normal one if you’re looking to latch items onto it. Found it handy to help keep the bag close to me when I’m out at a coffee shop.

The silicone/rubber end is good enough to keep the bag hooked onto a flat surface as long as you don’t move the bag too much. Some durability concerns though. Although most of it is metal, I found that the plastic rotating hinge already feels loose after a few weeks of use.

My bag is pretty heavy but it’s all in just a 20L pack, and the product is rated for 50LB. I found that the clip portion itself is starting to feel rough. I did have it out in the rain a couple of times, but this item was conceived in Seattle and I think this would have been addressed if the rain was an issue for it.

Found there’s also a bit of slop in how the hook part gets stored in the opening of the clip too. Noticed there’s quite a bit of wiggle to it. It’s also a bit smaller than I expected and couldn’t hook onto some tabletops.

I use this all the time to move pumps on shelf’s under tables. Pumps weigh 60-85 lbs and they only have eyelet to put a lifting strap and use 2 people to move them. As of that actually happens in the real world.

This is lightweight and easy to put on the eyelet so I can at least get a full hand to lift it. It has some nicks and the foam has ripped a little and slid up to a corner and I can’t push it back. But still works great.

I use these jumbo hooks for many things. THE main thing is To ORGANIZE MY HAIR TIES!. CHECK out the picture. I also like to keep 1 hooked on my purses Straps so that when I go Grocery shopping I can SECURELY HOOK my purse to the Shopping cart.

That way if anyone grabs my purse. The noise of dragging the cart will hinder their progress.

I have actually bought two of these jumbo hooks. I have always had problems bringing my groceries in from the car. Now I just put multiple grocery bags on the hook and carry into my house. The cushioned handle makes it very comfortable to carry my load.

I can carry more bags at one time and not have the bags cut into my fingers or hands. I highly recommend these for all grocery shoppers!.

This carabiner is easy to use and super burly. The gate action is nice and responsive. I like the little indent in the gate that perfectly fits my thumb so it stays in place while opening. I have larger hands (I usually wear a men’s size large or extra-large glove) and this carabiner feels perfectly sized for me.

There’s also no hook on the nose of the carabiner to snag on rope or on nuts. The inside of the carabiner is wide and flattened, providing a smoother surface for ropes. It’s definitely bigger and a little heavier than other carabiners, but I don’t mind that.

I don’t typically carry enough gear or do longer routes where that could make more of a difference and I prefer the peace of mind of super reliable gear. This isn’t quite the intended use, but I’ve also used these as part of a hammock setup.

They’re overbuilt for that, but they’re easy to use and make it faster and easier to set up and take down the hammock.

Great new carabiner. The way the gate mates with frame is nice and smooth. I have had no issues with it grabbing/snagging rope or other gear the way older style bent gate carabiners did. The frame is pre-notched for rope similar to how a used carabiner will develop a channel, the plus to this being manufactured into it is that the notch is reinforced.

The spring rebound is as strong after three weeks of regular use as it was new. (To be expected) the spring mechanism is even pre-greased, something I’ve not seen before. Over all a great carabiner that would be useful in any climbing rack.

I bought this to use when backpacking as I needed a carabiner to hang the bear bag with. It has an ergonomic design and is comfortable in the hand. I purchased this specific model because I did not want one with a ball lock or screwgate as I do not plan on climbing with it.

It worked well for my needs and did not rust when it rained.

I put these on my ice climbing gear and it has made a huge difference! When your pumped and frozen with gloves on you need the biggest clean nose biner you can get to make things easier. These are also very light and easy to clip.

On of my friends who bought the small petzl ange biners for weight savings tried my helium’s and decided to sell the petzls that day. If you can stomach the cost of these or the camp dyon’s don’t even look at anything else.

While I wouldn?t doubt the strength and durability of this carabiner I do question the design judgment. The raised lettering seems a bit too sharp for my liking. The fabric f dyneema will catch when rubbed against the lettering near the nose.

Which can suck if you like your slings in good condition. If used in a static draw or something like that it?°s not a problem, but if your using it for a Munter hitch, for example, you might not like what it does to the sling.

While I don?t think the damage will cause a sling to fail quickly, it does threaten the integrity of the dyneema. Maybe next round wild country can dull the edges of the lettering?.

I purchased this set on sale for $56, which was an absolute steal. These carabiners are pricier and don’t lock, but they’re lightweight, wire gate, and have a hooded nose that functions like a key lock (and makes it impossible to snag anything on them!).

The design is nice, the color is vibrant, and Wild Country is a great brand, 10/10 would recommend (if you can catch on sale, as they are pricey normally).

Hard to beat when you want to keep it light and colorful. The mini carabiners all have the slight drawback of clipping difficulty, but it’s a fair sacrifice for the weight. The color selection is awesome and the gate action is excellent.

Based on the older ones on my rack they’re relatively durable too. Excellent choice when weight is paramount. If clipping is paramount then the photon wire is boss.

I wanted a bunch of affordable carabiners for the family to have on their climbing harnesses to clip gear to or be able to use to bear weight if needed. These have me highly impressed. They are so super light you barely know they’re there.

They’re really smooth too, the gates have consist and perfect tension to them. Great job CAMP.

Ok not actually profit but you will get some sick gains in your trad climbing by having the best full-sized snag-free wiregate carabiner to rack your cams with. The long, thin nose is a boon for getting on and off your harness easily, as well as fishing the extendable sling out of cracks.

For other cams without extendable slings, the Nano 22 is still the best (unless it’s winter and you have gloves on, then get more Dyons), but these are just phenomenal handling for the weight. Don’t limit yourself to just racking either, put these on the rope side of your alpine draws too.

I use this carabiner to attach the secondary device to my belay loop when top rope soloing. The bottom basket is exactly the same width as the belay loop on my harness (19mm), and the horn on top is just tall enough to make crossloading impossible.

The twin gate is very easy to get used to and it’s nice that I don’t have to worry about accidentally leaving it unlocked. The wire gates are also quite snappy, which I personally prefer. Note that this is the smaller version of the Cleypsydra, and the curved spine and inside gate take up more space than I was expecting.

This hasn’t been an issue for me, but it may make it difficult to load some devices.

I’m not sure how much use this review will be since I purchased this to use with a dog runner. The dog is 12 pounds, so it doesn’t have to withstand any real pressure. It is however exactly as advertised and perfectly lightweight, so it doesn’t weigh down his tiny body.

The lock keeps him on the runner even when he gets tangled chasing his ball! Very pleased with the selection, price, and shipping time from Backcountry.

I’ve immediately fallen in love with Grivel’s twin gate locking carabiners. I was surprised how natural they feel – after just a few minutes I feel like I’ve been using them for years. This one’s no exception in that regard, and the familiar pear shape is welcome.

Even when it rotates, the rope runs smoothly across the large twin gates. Unfortunately, it suffers from two problems. 1) The diameter is a little too big through the gates to work well with a GriGri 2.

With some twisting you can get it through, but it’s hard to move around and generally a pain to use, requiring some modification to the GriGri for a proper fit. 2) The gate opening is tiny. Really tiny – and much smaller than is forgivable on a biner this size.

Even the much smaller Plume twin gate (my fave) has a larger opening. It doesn’t make any sense, and makes this a difficult carabiner to use regularly. I suggest either the Lambda or the Clepsidra as a belay locker – they each fit a GriGri 2 better, and both have far wider gate openings.

I bought several of these to supplement my current carabiners. I currently am using them to rack my trad gear which isn’t their ideal use due to size. I’ll be replacing them with miniwire or litewire carabiners soon.

They do however excel as bolt side anchor biners and when used in alpine draws. Their light weight is great when racking draws without the sacrifice of clipping ease that you face with the miniwire. I bought 5 of these and intend to have all 5 on me when doing multipitch climbs.

Was looking for a light bina and one thats available in multiple colors. This is it! I was easily able to get the colors I needed and use one for each of my different color cams. There are obvious disadvantages with such a small bina, such as can get your fingers stuck in it during clipping, but they are well worth it for the weight and space saving.

Perfect for building a light weight trad set, but I won’t be buying them individually for building sport quick draws.

It’s a good, small triple action auto-locker. I prefer triple action to a standard two action turn-and-open auto-locker. Quality is great, as is all DMM stuff I’ve used. Matte black is sweet for all your special-ops mission needs but fuchsia or magenta anodized would be rad too.

If you’re OK with the size, it’s a fine auto-locker if you’re looking for this style. Check out the specs for clearance, etc for your use case, and check out size comparisons with others you may have used if you’re unsure.

It’s phantom HMS size, not three ropes hitched up plus munter madness size. Still quite a bit larger than “crazy stone” *wink wink* little black screwgates. My 3 star rating for the “ease of use” is for the stiffness of the triple action.

It’s more of a quadruple action, you kind of need to lift up, turn, lift up, then open. This is easy to do one handed when it’s attached to something, like your harness or an anchor or tether, but it’s difficult to do one handed in free space.

It’s certainly feels bomber secure and locked, I have no worries about it getting Konami coded into opening by accident. Great choice for most SMALL auto-locker use.

Best Workhorse: Perfect standard size and D shape; the shrouded nose nose make notch hang-ups happen less often; it has a 9kn with open gate strength. It’s cheap. If you’re new to trad and need ‘biners on the cheap, don’t look at another carabiner for your entry level wire gate needs.

The real danger with DMM is that once you start buying their products, the quality bewitches you and you’ll BD carabiners are trash (it’s not, obviously). Aside from the nose shroud, my another favorite feature is the high gate tension.

These things snap! If you’ve ever worn your carabiners out such that they don’t close after a ton of cycles (ahem, old BD biners), well, you won’t fear that with DMM. I’ve only had one ever quit on me and it wasn’t this model.

Not the lightest, not a clean nose, but again, the best starter and blue collar workhorse you can get.

The description of this biner is lacking. They expect that you know what kind of gate action is described by the brand. This gate twists to open. It does NOT have the gate safety of multiple movements to open the gate.

For example Petzl Triac Lock requires three different motions to open the gate. That said, it is a perfect large biner for clove hitching double ropes. Biner is quite heavy.

Used for connecting your belay device to the harness. Very basic and good value for money. It usually flips sides during belaying, so that the narrow size contacts the belay device. I would recommend getting a different carabiner with some kind of stabilizer to prevent this.

Very nice HMS carabiner if you love the black color, wide opening and comfort of the door. The thread lock moves smoothly. Simply I loved it.

I got this clip for my truck key fob and the few keys that I carry. I liked the design, because I frequently detach the key fob when I go running and thought this design was a clever way to separate the fob from the rest of the keys.

It works well for this. Action of the spring loaded gate is smooth and works as promised. Light weight and looks like it will hold up under repeated use. My only complaint is that the caribiner doesn’t automatically latch and unlatch to my belt loops.

I wear a belt often and I seem to be fighting for real estate. Maybe with practice, I will improve my technique.

This is a good looking carabiner that is 2-section. This means my keys are locked in when I clip on/off my belt loops. It is easy and quick to get a set of keys off with practice, but they won’t come off accidentally.

The top section fits my belt loop, which is wider than most. The color, cerulean, is awesome and really pops. The action is smooth and the opening gate is smooth so it goes through the tiny loop inside the belt loop (designed specifically for holding a carabiner).

Other carabiners can snag up, but this does not. I am pleased and recommend for a key ring.

This product is amazing and the shipping was incredibly fast. Love the design as well as the feel of it and the spring on that product is really strong, I’m impressed. Looks very durable and feel light in my hand.

Also, a small detail I just like to mention is I do love the box too. Simple but that extra touch is also what I like to notice and it makes a perfect gift if you want to give someone. Overall, a great product to recommend.

I’d been eyeing up this carabiner for a few months and decided to give it a go. I do really like it, with a few caveats. It is smaller than it looks, and actually felt a little flimsy out of the box.

That being said, did I need a key holder that was rated to 20kN of force? Definitely not. It’s also quite a bit more expensive than the basic climbing carabiner we’re all using, which was a little tough to get past.

However it nice and small and light, looks fancy, and is a serious upgrade from the basic climbing carabiner I’ve been using the last 10 years. James Brand has a good eye for making these low profile and classy looking pieces.

Overall I’m very satisfied with the look and feel over the last few days I’ve been wearing it.

Given that your keys are something you use on a daily basis, i wanted a HQ item. I got the titanium one, and then after went out and bought more titanium things because i loved it so much. for some reason i thought titanium was heavy, its not.

I clip this to my belt or pocket for ease of going in and out of stores and the house. Super Super happy. The pictures dont do it justice, it is really “3-D” looking and high quality. Already started browsing the other titanium collection.

Really highly recommend. This is going to be my “go to” for those hard to shop for gifts for men. Yes it is a little pricey, and i am so glad they were sold out of the other ones, because it pushed me to purchase the titanium one.
