20 Best Caramel Hair Dye (2022 Updated)

Pros: Does not seem to damage hair or cause hair shedding! Huge! Cons: Lightens natural color slightly. Brassy! 5g mostly but not fully covered gray. TBD: How long the gray coverage lasts. Decided to try this to blend the gray at my roots.

I have prob ~20% gray (among my natural brown-black) that I like to tint light/med brown as a way of adding highlights to my hair. Typically use a beauty store brand demi permanent color with 10 volume developer and that works great – it actually permanently stains my gray so that I only have to to recolor my roots every 4-6 weeks, and my lengths never look over-saturated.

However it consistently makes my hair fall out like CRAZY whenever I use it so decided to try Natural Instincts 5g in looking for an alternative. I used this only on a couple inches of my roots on virgin hair – it was quick to apply since it wasn’t to thick and didnt cause ANY additional hair loss or scalp irritation, yay! BUT, I’m not liking the result.

It gave me hot roots – the dark hair at my roots is now lighter than the dark hair that wasn’t colored. That should never be the case with a demi perm color. Instead of having tinted gray, the result is muddy, and not a color I like either – the 5 “golden brown” is a bit too green for my pref.

It only very slightly lightened my natural dark color, but I didn’t want it lightened at all esp considering I only do my roots. The hunt for an alternative continues. If I ever tried this again I would try a redder or cooler brown vs golden (though I like golden in other brands) and perhaps go darker in hopes the gray would fade to a lighter color adter a few washed and my natural dark wouldn’t be affected.

I used to color my hair with Clairol Natural Instincts about 10 years ago and never had an issue. With a special event coming up I decided to freshen my hair up with some color. Upon reading the instructions it seemed as if the product had improved since I last used it.

I bought two packages, but one bottle covered my shoulder-length hair just fine. However, after applying and rinsing out the product as instructed, I noticed that my hair didn’t feel very good. Back in the day it used to leave my hair super silky and soft, like a model in a shampoo commercial.

But the real horror happened after I dried my hair and realized that the color I got was NOT the color on the box! I selected #4 dark brown to get a Hersheys dark chocolate color. Instead my hair came out looking like kona coffee grounds in water (aka, almost black).

It looks completely unnatural and now I’m trying to desperately get it to wash out early. (In the shower for the first wash since coloring, my hair felt like even more of a bird’s nest than when I rinsed the dye out.

Bleh!) I have now sworn off hair dye for the rest of my life. Hopefully by the time I get to the special event this weekend some of it will have washed out.

Ok so I tried out Onc Naturalcolors out a few weeks ago in the color 1N natural black. I had never heard of this brand before or seen it in stores ,but I was looking for a more natural alternative to my other hair dye.

Let me tell you this brand did not disappoint. I was skeptical about trying a brand I really knew nothing about ,but I am so happy I did. The hair dye I previously used was L’Oréal Féria and let me be real.

Every time I used the L’Oréal brand I could not even breath or hardly get through the process of dying my hair. The ammonia smell was so strong and even when I used this dye in a well ventilated area it still made me nauseous.

Also with the Féria my scalp would burn. So that’s when I did some searching and found Onc. When I used this hair dye for the first time I was pleasantly surprised that there was no strong smell and that my scalp felt great.

The hair dye also came with a nice little brush to really help coat your hair and I really think that extra step made a difference. I left it in for the recommended time and when I washed it out with the shampoo conditioner they supplied I was blown away by how dark my hair was.

So I waited for my hair to dry and it was even darker. It looked almost jet black and the best part is it is more natural and does not have a very strong smell. The shampoo and conditioner also smelled amazing and tropical.

The only downsides I can think of is yes it is 30 dollars for a box of this dye ,but I only dye my hair every 3 months so I am willing to spend the extra money to have a healthier more natural option.

A couple other things to consider is the one box I got almost was not enough for my hair. I have longer hair about bra strap level and I found that if my hair was any longer I would need two boxes to cover all my hair.

All of that aside this hair dye is the best I have ever used ,and even after 3 washes my hair is still vibrant.

I am allergic to hair salon chemicals so I first purchased this product approximately two years ago and never had a problem. I always purchase it when it’s offered on Zulily. I frequently get compliments on the my hair color.

I recently decided to quit fighting my grey hair. I had the color stripped, then had my hair bleached and toned. It came out looking more blonde than grey and I was really happy with it. I’ve used this organic color over and over to touch up the roots and even up the ends.

It works. Its easy to mix and apply, and has no chemical odor or irritation. It covers grey and the co!or is just as it looks on the box. Opened formula can be saved and reused for a couple of months, so no waste! Can’t live without it.

It’s nice, I usually go with a 5nn or sometimes more Carmel color though. I’d suggest wella for highlights and they have cool colors too, if you want simi permanent fun. Although, when not using wella, I like Paul Mitchell color or Aveda.

Any of those would be good, if not going to the salon. Choose these over a box hair dye please, use a mixing bowl and brush it looks more professional. Stay away from the box dyes at any store… use professional only color, same price just takes a little longer to do.

During the pandemic there was no hair salons that were opened. I had a balayage done and I needed a root touch up. My aunt used to own a hair salon when I was younger and she recommended me to try out these products.

I went ahead and did. I am extremely happy and satisfied to have tried these products out. It’s affordable and easy to store in you cabinets. I would definitely buy it again. It’s a 5 star+ in my book.

Perfect if you know what youre doing. Blue cancels channels of unwanted yellow, gold to barely brassy. Its not a bleach. It does HL all the way to 12 which is a level ten in most other shades. Its not platinum but is close.

You make it platinum by adding two caps crabber violet or choose VIOLET-Blue. This is a Blue only base. Its true ash. If you leave too much gold and dont lift enough it will look slightly greenish until two washes and then reveal a pretty flaxen gold more wheat looking blond.

If youre really last a 9. 5 level light youre perfect result will be over-the bleached level 10 which will look punk redhead orange yellow=too gold that ugly color will make it shine when you replace the lens of blue hair color limiting it all to one channel of pale yellow through like a Miracle, the icky color is blocked.

If your hair was stained with dark brown box color, youll need to keep bleaching the mid. Until that stain is lighter and grows out. Until then, adding one cap violet toner level crabber will make it milk white.

I love this toner in the shades opal glow, chrome, and platinum ice. I bleach my hair, and I have always struggled with losing at least a small amount of hair integrity after bleaching, but since I made the switch to a more acidic toner, my hair feels much softer after a bleach and tone session.

I like to mix equal parts chrome, opal glow, and platinum ice, and it gives me a nice icy blonde look without looking too ash and making my hair appear darker. If you are using Wella or another brand from Sally’s to tone your hair, I strongly recommend making the switch to Redken.

Even though the price is a bit more expensive, I find I use a lesser amount of product with this toner compared to Wella brand so it’s really not that much more expensive all things considered.

This product mixes easily and applies easily. The liquid thickens when the two are mixed together. It has a nice, light scent with no chemical smell. I have natural, light blonde hair. I get lowlights about three times a year to darken it some.

The blonde is pale, with no depth so I mix equal parts 10N, 10VV and 00 (clear) and process for 30 min. This gives my blonde more depth so that the lowlights blend better. The shine is amazing and doesn’t fade away quickly nor does the toning effect.

I received this hair dye to trial as part of the Beauty Review Crew. I have used this brand of hair dye a few times over the past couple years. In particular, I have used the shade ‘Darkest brown’ which is the same shade I’m trialing today.

The shade has always been is a lovely vibrant colour and the colour result is similar to my natural hair colour. The dye promises to 100% grey hair coverage and it lives up to its promise. Preparing the dye for application is nice and easy.

After applying the gloves that are included in the packaging, you pour the colour formula into the bottle of developer before placing the lid back on and shaking the bottle until completely mixed. It’s that easy! Then starting at the roots, you evenly apply the dye.

The dye goes on smoothly and, surprisingly, the dye scent isn’t as strong as other brands. Other brands tend to have a strong chemical smell which makes my eyes water and nose tingle when breathing it in.

Clairol have done a great job at producing a hair product with a low scent. One of the best things about Clairol’s nice n’ easy hair dyes is the short processing times. Unlike other brands that have a processing time of upwards to an hour to reach your desired shade, these dye have an average processing time of just 25 minutes.

The short processing time means you can dye your hair during your lunch break, before a night out, or before a date, without it taking up too much of your time. The rinsing process is also quite a smooth and easy process.

After applying some warm water, give your hear/head a little massage and then rinse until the water runs clear from all the dye. It normally takes around two minutes for the water to run clear. I received Medium Chestnut Brown as part of the review crew. My hair is dyed medium brown over grey/white and is a few inches below my collarbones. It’s fine and flat with a slight wave immediately after air drying but this falls out quickly, it’s also horribly frizzy.

I found the instructions easy to follow and the dye easy to use although I did find I’d missed some areas which is unusual for me. I was using this on about 1 inch of grey roots, apart from where I’d missed it covered it well although it’s lighter on those grey areas and the other areas are now darker.

This means my roots are still visible although not grey and it would be good if the colour guide also showed the outcome on grey or white hair. I don’t usually see the roots so evident with other home colour I’ve done.

However the colour on the roots is nice and I might keep using this to get all my hair to a lighter colour. I didn’t notice that the smell was better or worse than other brands I’ve used and I had no adverse reaction on my scalp.

I wasn’t able to see a blend of tones and highlights although I did like the colour on both the grey and dyed areas. My hair felt soft after using and easy to comb. After a few further washes I’ve not see much fade or loss of condition.

Overall this Is a good dye for home colouring with good grey coverage although I feel I need to be more attentive when I use it. It’s a good price too.

As the cost of everything rises I have gone down to bi-monthly hair visits and have been colouring my roots in between. I have stuck to two main brands the past year so I was excited to trial clairols Nice n Easy to see how it compares! The new packaging is pleasing and clear on what it delivers.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that the scent wasn’t overbearing whilst I applied this to my roots. It mixed very well in the applicator bottle and was so easy to apply. The gloves fit well and I waited the appropriate time until rinsing off.

The colour rinsed off well and the conditioner was lovely. I decided to let my hair air dry for the best and most accurate review on colour, shine and coverage of greys. So the colour match was great, it definitely covered my grey roots and my hair was a little dry on the ends but nothing a good leave in conditioner can’t fix! I like that this dye did what it said and was not gimmicky or over priced compared to competitors.

A solid budget buy option if you prefer colouring hair at home. It may dry your hair out if used frequently so a good quality conditioner for coloured hair would be a must alongside this product.

When my hairstylist shut down, I took the “plunge” with this product. I picked the closest to my color that was available, but it came out substantially darker than my natural color. It will fade. I followed directions, and results provided good coverage and nice, silky texture.

I appreciate my hairstylist so much more now, and will support him in the future. This will do for now. If you color your own hair on a regular basis, you should not be disappointed.

I received this new #Schwarzkopf Keratin Color for free from my Influenster for free in exchange for my review!!! First I want to state I’ve never used this color/products before. I have dyed my own roots and hair at home for years.

It’s been a Lear process and I’ve never been to school for coloring hair either I’ve just learned new things on my hair coloring journey. My natural hair is a light brown with strawberry blonde and it’s fine/thin hair.

So I was very happy to learn after rinsing out the color and applying the bond plex conditioner which by the way was a gorgeous lavender with a silver sheen to it and it smelled good instead of being left with that nasty smell you usually get left with.

The best part my hair didn’t feel completely dried out and after blow drying it it wasn’t left lifeless like most hair dyes leave your hair. Usually it’s no volume and it’s weighted down but I didn’t get that this time.

Super happy with my turn out and I’m happy because I have found a new hair color I will def be using over again. My keratin hair color I used is Light Ash Blonde. I would def recommend and I’m most def going to use again.

Upon opening the hair dye box, I was pleased to discover a pre-color serum that I put on the ends of my hair before processing. Along with the tube of color creme came the developer already measured out and in an applicator bottle! I always do my own hair at home, so I am used to measuring out each product before mixing and having to wash out my own applicator bottle at the end.

This made it very convenient and I appreciate how well thought out it was by Schwarzkopf, making it especially easy for those who don’t have a lot of experience mixing their ratios. There were also a pair of disposable gloves and a purple conditioning mask for post coloring.

I only did my regrowth with this kit since I am already blonde. The color mixture went on great and the purple toning/conditioning mask made my hair super soft! It did help to cool the final color down, however, if you need to lift more than 2 or 3 shades, I suggest you use a gentle bleach first.

I am a platinum blonde, so this color to my roots is not what I desire, but perhaps I would be satisfied if I were to be a blonde without bleach. Overall, I loved all the extras it came with so that I didn’t have to buy them each separately, and I believe this is a good quality product and would recommend to anybody wanting a blonde color from home.

I received a box of Schwarzkopf Keratin Color Cream for True Blondes and was very pleased with the results! Pre-pandemic I was in the salon for color every two months and never thought I could get good color at home.

Schwarzkopf Keratin Color Cream made getting great color at home easy, virtually mess free, and from start to finish, it took about an hour. The instructions are easy to follow and required just a bit of mixing.

My hair is a darker blonde with some of red. I used Dark Ash Blonde color and and the color came out great leaving a nice wash of color with no brassiness. My hair was left really shinny and had great dimension.

The conditioner packet in the box was an amazing addition because it left my hair feeling really silky and smelling great. I would have loved a slightly larger tube of conditioner since my hair is very long and I only got one use out of it.

I can’t wait to see how long the color lasts but I would definitely use this Schwarzkopf Keratin Color Cream again.

Great product that I previously used YEARS ago, and through the years I allowed my hair stylist talk me into using various permanent dyes that totally ruined my hair! Then I remembered my stylist in California used Sebastians Cellophane semicolon on my hair.

So I started using this product AT HOME over one year ago. Best decision ever! This no-ammonia product conditions my hair. , makes it shine, and the color is fantastic lasting about 4 weeks for gray coverage.

I highly recommend this product. Hint: For lastly color do NOT use shampoo or conditioners containing sulfate or oil. Make sure you apply and thoroughly rinse – do not shampoo.

Sabastian Cellophane is very gentle and effective on my hair. No smells, not to mention the amazing color and sheen that results. I do leave it on longer as the little front grey hairs seem to require it.

My hairdresser recommended it after my self inflicted damage to my hair while travelling for work on long term (2 to 4 months) international assignments. I make sure to have it high on my packing list.

SHINY, GLOSSY HAIR!! Especially good for treated hair!! I have been using Sebastian Clear Cellophane for YEARS. Normally at hairdresser for about $40-$60 additional. Now I do at HOME for the price of the cellophane ONLY.

One really needs to have use of a ‘bonnet’ hair dryer to use cellophane effectively. FIVE minutes for EVERY WEEK, so I normally do THIRTY MINUTES. Cool after using dryer, rinse well, use an EXCELLENT shampoo and EXCELLENT conditioner following rinse.

Towel dry excess water and dry/style with SOFT, SHINY and GLOSSY tresses!!.

3 stars because: it’s the only vivid color shampoo you can get here in Sweden. If you have brightly colored hair, the ONLY way you can maintain color is with a color-depositing shampoo and conditioner.

The conditioner is a bit easy, because you can make your own hack by adding direct deposit dyes to conditioner. But the shampoo is just as essential. Enter here Viral shampoo. It does the job. BUT; I can’t stand the smell, the lather is inconsistent (Your hair needs to be really wet, and you need a rather large amount of product) and the overall feeling after continued use is drying.

Probably not what you want, if you are bleaching your hair often like me. You will need to do bonding masks often to maintain hair integrity. With the pastels, the shampoo will likely not dye your hands, but for the vivid s, beware.

Your nails and skin will be colored for days if you’re not wearing gloves while washing.

Adds color while you shampoo. Ounce per ounce, it is a bit pricey and it doesn’t seem to lather up as much. So compared to ordinary shampoos, you may end up using more of this product to feel like you’ve gotten you hair clean enough, to where you’d expect it to be, having just washed it.

It works best on color treated hair but if you’re using this product for the first time, you shouldn’t expect to see the vivid color results like the hair swatches on the website or the ads. If you’re using this shampoo to maintain your already ultra-bright hair color, it should work beautifully— provided you follow the directions carefully.

If you’re starting with hair that’s just been bleached light blonde or platinum, you should see great results too— provided you allow it enough time (several minutes) to soak in. If you’re building on hair that’s been dyed, but it’s a “normal “ hair color, then you’ll likely get wonderful jewel tones.

Pretty, but nowhere near the bright colors you saw, that probably got your attention. Use nylon or plastic gloves. At first, I felt it went without saying because it IS hair coloring, but after reading several other comments, I want to reiterate: even though gloves are not included, they are recommended.

And just like with traditional hair color, you should also apply a thin layer of protection around your hairline before using this product too. You can use either a proprietary product or your own, just create some kind of a barrier with an oil-based product (like Vaseline or AD ointment) something that won’t be absorbed but rather prevent the color from soaking into your skin while you’re waiting for the color to set.

Wipe away any blobs of excess color that might get onto your ears or face too.

Since my brunette hair can’t hold purple color very long, I was going through desperate lengths to keep it looking fresh and vibrant. I was limiting hair washing down to 3 times a week, using the coldest water I could stand and top of the line shampoos/conditioner that either specialize in fade prevention or advertise color protection; I even installed a soft water filter in my shower head! My stylist recommended me get it colored every 6 weeks, due to it just washing down the drain in a matter of weeks and that is just something I can’t afford to do that often; She educated me of this line and I cant live without it!! My hair looks as it did the day I left the salon.

This stuff has saved me so much money because it is no longer necessary for me to get my hair colored every 6 weeks, but more like 3 or 4 times a year! Sometimes it dries my hair out, but nothing a leave in conditioner or deep conditioning treatment can’t fix.

If I could change one thing it would be them offering a much larger size, because I go through this every 2 – 3 months or so. Yes it will get everywhere and could stain your tub/shower but I use a tile cleaner with bleach and it eliminates all of it as if nothing happened.

I also don’t use this alone, I layer my favorite color protection shampoo over the colorwash and fade prevention(moisture adding) conditioner over the colorditioner, both assist with shine, keep it maintained and preventing my hair from getting brittle.

A must have for hair color fanatics!.

Absolutely love this dark brown product which has lasted over a year for monthly- 2monthly grey temple touch ups. Value for money is second to none and more importantly chemical free and guilt free disposal.

You have to lay it on thick particularly at the roots and the first couple of months you may need to apply it twice to cover all the Gray, after that as the product description mentions your hair absorbs the colour and doesn’t fade as quickly and monthly or 2 monthly touch ups won’t need much product at all.

Great that you can mix as much or little as U need not like semi organic products that still use fixers and need a whole bottle mixed up for one time use. This organic Radico is a keeper! Highly recommend!.

I bought this organic hair dye on the basis that it was all natural. I followed the instructions meticulously and after rinsing and drying my hair found absolutely no difference in colour. You would never know u had applied anything to my hair as the before and after results were identical.

What a complete waste of money! Do not purchase unless you want to throw money quite literally down the drain.

I used to use a different brand, which became more difficult to find in my local pharmacy so after reading mostly positive reviews, I decided to try Revlon ColorSilk. I’ve used it several times, light brown, medium brown and last night- light ash brown.

It’s mostly to add some depth to my already brunette/light brown hair and cover some grays. I wash my hair every day (not good, I know), so the color does gradually fade in most likely less time than for most people, but I can still get away with coloring once a month or so.

The color is easy to mix (pour color into application bottle), there’s NO smell at all (during or after coloring), it doesn’t seem to leave color behind in the shower, it lasts as long as (if not longer than) other similar brands and is ridiculously inexpensive, which is why I was hesitant at first.

Also, unlike with other colors I’ve used where sometimes the color ends up a few shades darker than what was intended, I’ve never had the color end up darker than what I wanted. Last night I even left the color on a little longer for the stubborn grays but the color came out beautiful- not like the muddy dark brown or black that can sometimes happen if you leave it on too long.

Biggest plus? the conditioner is beyond awesome!!!!! Just a tiny bit will do (I have shoulder length hair) so I save the packet so I can get a couple of uses out of it. If they sold the conditioner separately, I’d definitely buy it!!! (Please, Revlon!) It leaves hair super soft without being greasy or leaving the hair feeling coated.

While I can’t say I’ve used the product for 20+ years like some others, I can say it’s been a home run every time I’ve used it.

I’ve been using this product for years and liked it for the low price and good results, until now. I didn’t change my routine, it’s obviously a bad batch. Didn’t think that could happen. I had planned on calling them now to see if they could send me a product coupon thru my email today, so I can try it again.

My daughter’s 23 yr old birthday is tonight and I don’t have any more budgeted money for this. I pulled the box out of the trash and was surprised to see ANOTHER DISAPPOINTMENT. The days and hours of their customer service are Mon-Thurs, 10-4p.

Today is Friday. Plus they forgot to put EST or PST. I believe their corp. offices are in New York, so that’s EST. Seriously, that’s lame. They don’t care to get it right. I have to wonder, when it searched the internet for Revlon, the first title that came up was Revlon bankruptcy.

You let me down Revlon. My daughter drove 10 hours to be here today.

This year alone I had red, turquoise, green, purple and some attempts to blonde hair at home. It was extremely damaging to my hair and I could not tone it for dear life. Revlon saved the day! I really want to find their mushroom blonde, I am dying to try it but I used the soft black for my root shadow, it helped with the orange and looked soft and natural.

Before caving in to trying the $3. 50 hair color I used Ion from Sallys, loreal and garnier olia (which is also good but fades super fast) Also I dampened my roots for a softer root shadow. Rinse in cold water so it doesn’t transfer to your blonde.

It worked beautifully. 100% would be trying their other colors.

I found this particular brand after searching through the internet for recommendations on blue shades for dark hair that had medium brown highlights. The colour itself is supposed to be a blue but with my yellow-tinged highlights turned aqua/green.

The colour was still very pretty even though it was different to what I wanted. I would caution that the colour you buy is how it will look on platinum hair. Other deeper colours will give a variation.

In terms of the colour itself, it lasted a really long time and I got a significant amount of compliments. Would recommend for anyone on the market for a longer lasting temporary dye.

his hands down the best hair dye I’ve used since I dyed my hair purple almost a year ago. I’ve tried splat, punky color, manic panic, pravana, SFX hair dye and a couple other brands I can’t remember right now, but they either washed out quickly (within a couple weeks) or stayed in longer but stained EVERYTHING that came in contact with my hair (my skin, towels, pillow cases, shirt collars, and at one point my boyfriends face).

This dye is awesome because after the first couple of washes I can’t even notice it rinsing out of my hair (even when I take a warm shower!! ) and the color is still noticeable and has only faded a little and nicely as opposed to those ones that wash out and leave you looking like you haven’t done your hair in 2 years as opposed to just a couple weeks.

Also it doesn’t leave stains on everything, just use an old towel for the first couple of washes and you’ll be golden. I’m usually not one to leave gushing amazon reviews but I have been looking for a long time for something that works as well as this, so I’m very happy I finally found my ride or die brand!.

I loooooove ash blondes. I have dark dark hair. And sometime I will completely change my hair. And to keep from frying my hair, I go to a light color over a period of 6-9 months. And I use a semi permanent color after the bleaching process of those months.

And I use joico or wella. Or pravana.

My natural colour is the same as shown on the front of the box and I wanted to return to this colour. My hair had been lightened three shades lighter with acid (forgot what the acid is called, begins with H).

This dye seemed ideal to get it back to dark ash blonde. I followed the instructions (although left on for 25 mins instead of 30). I actually forgot to bring the purple mask and shampoo into the bathroom with me but luckily I already had a strong purple shampoo so I just used that instead, then a moisturising conditioner.

My hair has dried just now and the result is beautiful, a perfect ashy tone, nothing warm or brassy, no dodgy green. Got rid of the yellow I was disliking before. I thought it may go dark brown but it hasn’t, it’s still recognisably blonde.

It’s very shiny too, also definitely a little drier than before but doesn’t look damaged. I’ve only just dyed so I can’t comment on longevity but the initial result is perfect.

Firstly, i was a copper blonde, but decided i wanted to match my regrowth with the rest of my hair, but i always struggle being a natural red-head no colour turns out as expected. So i thought i would try the dark golden blonde because the colour on the box looked nice and looked like it would blend my roots more evenly.

but unfortunately that was not the case i am now back to my natural colour which is a dark rich auburn /copper /ginger which i dont mind because thats how i was born. But i do like to change things up a little, the dye itself was too overpowering, i have used this brand before and dont remember them choking me, i am so disappointed with this brand, im just deciding now if i like the colour or not.

My hair is nice and soft and feels really conditioned and isn’t as coarse or as dry as it was before. I only did the colour sunday so have not done a first wash yet to see how it fades. But all that said this is the first colour i have found that matches my natural colour, as i went through a stage of trying to find it but gave up.

I don’t think i will by this brand again, because it seems like they have changed some ingredients. I think i will start using something else. My hair turned out nothing like the woman on the box, ive yet to find a box dye that does what it says.

Unless i have too much natural pigmentation in my hair, i really do struggle with dyes. I would be extremely cautious if anyone wants to choose this particular colour. (just my opinion).

I had orange hair as a result from using L’Oreal Paris Excellence Universal Nudes Universal Blonde 7U and decided to use this box dye in order to correct it. After reading the reviews I was a bit hesitant as many mentioned getting a green tint.

Decided to use it regardless and I am glad I did. Colour payoff is definitely cool tone, my hair is now dark blonde and this is exactly the colour i wanted in the first place. Very very happy with the outcome.

Only negative is the strong smell, its stronger than the smell you get in any box dye. It comes with a purple shampoo which is very standard quality but also includes an amazing purple hair mask that makes a huge difference and hydrates the hair.

The Shinefinity colors make a great result and compensate color differences super.

This line can most definitely be used for both men women. It’s a demi-permanent color (meaning it deposits color but will maybe only lift about 1 level on virgin hair), is available in 70 different color choices.

L’Oréal recommends you use the specially designed developer for best results. To apply, start at the roots, then bring it through the ends to freshen up your all over color. I haven’t seen this brand at cosmo since it changed from Davidson’s.

I’d love to see it come back! I loved this brand! Nice to see it’s still around.

I just moved back here from the UK, and I was looking for new products to use on my textured hair as the stuff I was using is not available here (or the shipping would be exorbitant), and I’m so happy to find this line of products.

This is a beautiful conditioner, and it makes my hair feel so good especially in a drier environment. Really good slip, excellent detangling & great results.

Well seeing how they don’t seem to have all the hair color options. I used one like this, not the one in the box from Walmart. I liked but it did seem to stay long, whenever I put dark brown in my hair it just absorbs everything in site and turns black.

This one on the other hand did not it gave me the exact color I got! It was like a dark golden brown. Not really what I was expecting because as I said my hair doesn’t cooperate, other than that I do run the flat iron over my hair like every day.

Of course that contributed to the color fading but I still think it faded faster than any other color I’ve used. All in all not terrible (aka box color😉) buuuttt also not sure if I’d recommend it.

The best hair color I ever tried, although still requires gentle care after coloring! Looks so natural and doesn’t damage hairs. Love it and will definitely buy again !

This product doesn’t use chemicals. The color 5.0 is just about the same color as my natural hair color. Using this product has made my hair really healthy and shiney.

The only reason I give it 4 stars and not five is the fact that my eyes where burning like crazy at the time of rinsing the product. The product itself is great and colors are nice.

I’ll start by saying I think the product did what it promised to do, which is tone hair and neutralise warmth from bleaching. For that reason I’d still recommend the toner if you need it because it does perform.

It’s not getting 5 stars from me though because for a take home product, there just isn’t enough information or instructions to help guide people to pick the right toner for their warmth or level. I think if Wella made a more user friendly guide for non-professionals, they would have fewer reviews saying it didn’t work for them because they weren’t able to pick the right toner for their hair.

I know they have some information on their website but it is not reader friendly for a lay person and that’s what pushes people to end up picking the more popular T18 regardless of their actual toning needs.

I know if you spend the time to study up colour wheels and toning guides, you’d be okay picking a toner but hair colouring can be stressful and a wella specific guide would be so helpful!.

These toners work well but they smell awful! Beware of that. They’re also really runny and they go dark really quickly so you’ll want to get this product all up in your hair as quickly as possible. The best way I’ve found to do this is by making a toning shampoo: mix the toner and developer, then add a few capfuls of shampoo (you can add some water too if you want to make it runnier), then hang your head over the sink and lather it in quickly.

You’ll want to watch your hair to see how fast it is developing. You might only need 5 minutes or you might want 15. Just keep an eye on it! I used a mix if T18, T27, and the cooling violet 050 on freshly bleached level 8-9ish hair and it toned beautifully.

I later switched to using the permanent gel with a low developer as I found it easier to apply to roots only and the colour lasts longer. But if an all-over quick toning job is what your after, this is it.

I bought 3 bottles of T18 so that I wouldn’t run out halfway through, but now realize that 1 bottle is enough to do my whole head. There was actually some left over so I just slopped it all on. For reference, my hair is approximately 18 inches long and goes down to my bra strap, Im white/caucasian, medium/fine thickness, and I have a full head of baby-lights.

I mixed 1 bottle of T18 with 10 volume developer, instead of the 20 that it recommends. I did some research and knew that 10 volume would ONLY deposit colour, while 20 volume does have some lifting power.

AKA 20 vol has the ability to lighten. I did NOT want my roots to turn orange so thats why I chose 10 volume. If you use 20 volume be aware that it CAN lighten your roots. or just only apply it to the blonde parts and avoid your roots.

Up to you. My hair is easily a level 8-9. I have been getting it lightened professionally for the past 4 years. So I knew that T18 would be ok for me. It took about 10 mins to apply with the help of my boyfriend, and then I let it sit for 15 minutes.

I could see my head turning purple as the toner developed. When I washed it out- yes, it did tone the yellow out of my hair. However, it did NOT dramatically change the colour of my hair to a bright white.

I put the product over my entire head and even on my roots. I can now tell that my roots have changed colour a little bit, but what I didn’t realize before is that this is a “permanent colour”. So its NOT really a toner.

If I had used 20 volume Im sure it would have gone lighter/brighter blonde BUT my roots would have been orange. So, for a covid-hairdo it turned out ok and is acceptable to me. If you are going to purchase T18 you should definitely look at a hair chart and determine if your hair is light enough to use this.

(A level 1 is closer to black and a level 10 is like pure white grandma-hair). If you are not at least a level 8 then dont bother. This product will not magically lighten your hair. Also think about what shade you’re trying to get rid of- What does your current blonde/brassy hair look like right now? Orange hair needs blue tones to cancel them, and yellow hair needs purple tones to cancel them.

This is a purple toner. So if your hair is yellow and a level 8+ then go for it. If its not then you need to bleach it to make it lighter. I think that T18 is probably best for someone who just bleached their entire head with like 30 volume to be as light as possible (NO orange), has no root re-growth, and plans to apply it all over for one cohesive grey/ash look.

Otherwise, I think it turned out ok for me. However, I would not purchase it again. In the future I will just buy a semi-permanent hair toner. Brad Mondo says that real toners come in a tube and I think I would have got a better result if I used that so that it didn’t affect my roots.

Otherwise, a purple shampoo or conditioner would have been better for my blonde without altering my roots at all.

I really like L’ORÉAL Paris age perfect home color. Covers grays very naturally. Blends the roots completely and naturally. This version includes a interesting applicator that helps smooth product through your hair.

The creme is thin enough to distribute easy but thick enough to not run. The conditioner that comes with this helps neutralize the chemical smell. My hair feels soft, full, and shine. My hair did not feel fried, dry, straw like , or rough.

And there’s enough conditioner for several more weekly treatments- it claims 8- it’s more like 4-5 for me. So that is why I reduced one star. With proper care, this color lasts almost three months for me.

I would never normally consider colouring my own hair and have upto now spent a small fortune having multi-tone blonde highlights every 8 weeks or so, but lockdown has left me fearful of revealing more of my now natural mousey-grey roots than I feel comfortable with, so it had to be done.

I deliberated for a while on which product, which shade etc. but finally settled on this one and it was perfect! I felt a little nervous, wondering how I’d ever go outside again if the colour turned into a random shade of khaki (as in a hair colouring horror story I read) and having roped my husband in to help, he too was feeling the pressure.

Once we started it all seemed really easy and the excitement about the result began to grow. Unlike other products people have told me about this one didn’t itch or sting or have an obnoxious smell -so far so good.

After I washed the colour out I slathered on the lovely smelling conditioner then rinsed again to reveal. a nice warm shade of blonde. I didn’t wash it again for 72 hours as some reviewers have suggested but I am unsure tif there’s any scientific reason for this, however the colour is really, really beautiful.

It’s produced more than one shade of blonde but in a soft natural way and looks only marginally different to my reasonable expensive salon’s efforts. I will definitely buy this product again-maybe I had beginner’s luck- but if my next attempt gives the same amazing results I can’t see why I’d pay a colourist again.

Swapped to this brand as it offered the colour I wanted which had been discontinued by my regular brand. On a plus side I’m sure there is more mixture in the bottle than what I previously had, but on a minus side it is very drying.

Not sure I’ll be using it again because of the drying effect on my hair. No moisture left in my hair at all and even the conditioner didn’t help. Using this continuously will spoil anyones hair hence my reluctance to use it again.

This is the best highlighting product!!! Once my mom and I found this, there was no going back to a cap for me. The applicator makes it so easy to use and since there’s no cap involved, there’s no stabbing involved.

My mom has actually washed the applicator before and kept it to use with other highlighting or dying products. I have medium to dark brown hair and the caramel gives me the most beautiful highlights! The great thing about this applicator is you can choose easily how heavy or light you want the highlights and where you would like them placed.

I have done both bold and subtle highlights with these kits. I cannot recommend these enough.

The best part of this package is the finger device that helps you apply bleach product to selected strands. the quality of the liquid components is their usual which is fine. I don’t understand why this kit is so much more expensive than other highlight products, other than their finger applicator which you cannot get in other kits.

Don’t like the “pull thru” caps after many years, so hoping this works as well as I think it will. But the price is high, but if you want this device, you have to pay for it – I will keep it and use it for future applications by buying the cheaper highlighting kits, like the “Petite” kit -.

I have been doing my own hair color and highlights for years. Not because I want too, but because every time Ive had them done professionally my hair ends up very brassy. I generally color with natural instincts semi permanent color, then highlight with touch on highlights.

I have used the applicator they provide, but I prefer pulling hair through a highlighting cap, then applying Touch on highlights. It is very easy to apply, doesn’t transfer if you prefer to user the applicator, and always turn out well.

Overall I think that this product would work great as long as you lighten your hair enough to achieve a really pale yellow color. This product worked but did not quite live up to my expectations. I followed the instructions and had a little bit of a problem trying to get this product to rub in my hair evenly.

The box did say that in order for it to work effectively your hair must be at a level 9 or 10. I think my hair was not quite to that level when using this product so therefore only certain parts of my hair were white blonde and the rest still seems a bit of a dull yellow.

My only suggestion when purchasing this toner is to make sure your hair is light enough first and mixing it with another toner or conditioner may help with getting the product to smooth on more evenly.

I mix this with the Pravana color in 1N to achieve my super dark, blue black hair color. Would definitely recommend anyone who is wanting super black hair to give it a try! It will stain your towels blue though 😅.

I actually use the normal black color but I gotta day after trying quite a few brands of professional dye, I REALLY love this one. I’m starting to get a bit older which means gray hairs and I read this brand has amazing coverage.

Well, they weren’t lying. Some brands my hair is a bit lighter in spots of gray. Not with Rusk. A major plus is the deep shine. It lasts for quite a few washes.
