17 Best Carbon Fiber Filament (2022 Updated)

I 3d print with a Makergear M2. This product prints really smooth. Prints on heated bed with no problems. Prints just like PLA. I have been 3d printing for 3 years. Have used other filaments that produced bad results.

This Proto-pasta filament is excellent. Will be buying more.

This filament is easy to print and strong as all get out! I used it to print parts for a TV tray I was making and they’re still hanging tough – after a few design mods… 😉

Before starting my first print, I ran it through a quick temp tower and found the right settings to use. After that prints were coming out perfect

Filament was very brittle for pla filament upon arrival. It frequently breaks unnecessarily do to the filament being expired upon arrival. I would not recommend this for this filament is of poor quality, overly priced for the quality, and will frequently cause problems inside your 3D printer.

With that said the only reason I gave this a star above 1 star is because the prints don’t come out too bad with it. It could have layer adhesion issues but it does not to the extend I would have thought it would have had.

But retraction issues are still pretty bad though with this filament. I also give them credit for the filament was extremely nicely wound. I wouldn’t have thought that to have been the case for the price of the filament.

Prints ok in my modified Ender 3. It works best at around 235c nozzle and 60c glass bed. I’m using a Titan Aero extruder so I’m not fighting with the filament slipping on the hob gear while being forced through a foot of boden tube.

The only complaint I have with this is that even though it was sealed and with the dessicant in place the material pops and crackles as if it’s been sitting in a sauna before it was sealed up. I’m not getting failed prints but they’re not very smooth at all.

Honestly I just wanted to prove to myself that my machine could print this material and it does. Are the parts smooth and useable? Not so much. One good thing is that layer adhesion is amazing. Once the parts are printed I cannot tear it apart by hand.

Pretty amazing. If I dried this stuff out in the oven and printed with it I’m sure it would look and feel awesome.

Over the past tree years, I’ve used almost every brand of filament out there (including some unbranded ones). So far, Hatchbox is one of the best (if not THE best) brands I’ve used. I was pleasantly surprised to see how neatly wound each layer of filament is as it comes off the spool and enters the machine.

Best of all, I got the filament at a sensible price. Great deal!.

I havent had a chance to run the orange yet but i have used a few rolls of the yellow hatchbox. Super accurate prints and really easy and pleasent to use. I had recently tried Inland pla blue colored 1.

75 and had some trouble with it that i had never had with the hatchbox yellow pla 1. 75. The hatchbox ran well at 200 degrees with a 60 degree bed and used the paper trick to level up the bed. The inland seemed really finicky with bed leveling and if it wasnt exact it would have problems.

It also needed to be ran hotter at 210 i think. Overall im going to stick with hatchbox yellow pla for all my prints from now on, unless of course they need to be another color.

Of all the wood infused filaments, Hatchbox, remains my favorite! It is more fragile than many others, but it looks the most like wood when printed. Easy to sand and takes stain better than any of the other(several in fact) that I’ve used.

If you’re looking for a tougher wood filament, colorfabb wood or bamboo, would be a better fit. But I print with Hatchbox (triple layer) and I’m always happier with it. Pics are ALL printed with Hatchbox wood.

Hatchbox has a good reputation for high quality PLA filament. The reel was well-packed in a hermetically sealed heat-shrink film with a dessicant pack. It works well with the glass plate of my Anet A8 Plus 3D printer.

I’d rather pay a bit extra for something that works out of the box than try to troubleshoot a consumable.

It’s is very brittle. It looks good when printed but it’s very weak. Printed at low (210C) and high (245C) temps, it has very bad layer adhesion. I have used many spools of hatchbox abs previously, but this color is terrible.

I don’t recommend it.

Honestly, worst filament I’ve ever used. It bubbles and pops, even after drying. layer adhesion is bad. Stringing is bad. I typically like hatchbox products but this one slipped through the cracks hard.

Pros: Very well priced and good quality when it prints. Cons: Very brittle and constantly snaps between prints. Once a print finishes, if left for more than a day, the filament simply snaps between the roll and the printer.

Very annoying as it has done it on every single roll which means I’m constantly having to clear the printers of the snapped filament and refeed it through every time I go to do a fresh print.

Pros: Good value but terrible to print with. The sunlu silk filaments have a lot more stretch than other brands I’ve used. This results in uneven prints, A LOT of stringing and it contracts more than other brands as it cools.

Compared to everyone, eSUN, Gemini, prusament etc it is not one I recommend.

Pros: Value for money is excellent. the cheapest deal I have found on decent PLA anywhere. Cons: The filament can be a bit brittle and prone to snapping if exposed to sharp angles in the feeding system.

At first this filament was very difficult to print with. After adjusting my settings to get it to print well I decided to share what works for me, so you have somewhere to start. -Filament was dried in a Sunlu Filadryer for 4 days at 55C.

-Printing on an Ender 3 V2 Pro in an enclosure with Microswiss Hotend and Direct Drive -250C Nozzle -50C Bed (BuildTak and glass w/ glue stick both work) -98% Flow Rate -5. 5mm Retraction (will vary from Bowden setup) -50% Cooling (stock fan) -30mm/s Speed (60% of normal) The most important aspect seems to be the filaments dryness.

With good dry filament, the layer adhesion is amazing, and surface finish is extremely good.

I loved the old filiment fomulation, I had gone though 8-10 spools of it and had it working great on my Ender 5+. But inland changed the plastic when I bought the last two spools and I couldn’t figure out why the results went to crap.

After trying both spools I figured our that the temperture range is changed on the spool. The range used to be 240-260 degrees C. Now it’s 260-300 degrees C. My printer won’t work over 270 C and that isn’t hot enough for this new formualtion.

The description online is still 240-260 C. If you has the old stuff working, do’t buy the new unless you can go 300 C on the hot end.

This, and pretty much all of the Inland branded filaments could really use more details on recommended print settings. Once settings have been dialed in, print quality is really good. I did not pre-dry the Carbon Fiber filament prior to printing, and after 2 days filament is still printing fine with no popping or spattering.

have not experienced clogging or foreign matter. Took a while to dial in settings, with poor layer adhesion, poor bed adhesion, stringing, dripping, and whatnot. once dialed, the quality is top notch.

[Edit: +2 stars for a product that performs as I expect. +1 star for customer service. I have to assume the Ultra Violet has manufacturing issues. Sainsmart customer service reached out to me after I had returned the original product to Amazon.

Sainsmart offered samples of black and green and I agreed to give them a try with the understanding that I would again give an honest review. I have only had a chance to use the black but I am very impressed.

All four of the prints came out looking great. Filament diameters from a 2 meter sample are (in mm): 1. 70, 1. 68, 1. 74, 1. 69, 1. 71, 1. 73, 1. 70, 1. 68, 1. 70, 1. 72The black color is uniform and it does have a slight translucency when held up to a 60w bulb.

75mm advertised, color not consistentI was cautiously optimistic about buying this after reading other reviews regarding filament size. I pulled about 3 meters off the roll and measured it. The largest size was 1.

74mm and the smallest 1. 71. I figured I’d take the chance on a test print and it came out nice at 210C @ 20mm/s max speed. Note that I am using an extruder plate that has a filament guide built in, so the filament cannot jam past the extruder gear, and I have a spring pre-tensioner/compressor as well.

Feeling good about this I tried another print using the same settings on a different model. The filament refused to feed properly. I again measured, this time finding: 1. 59mm, 1. 67, 1. 71, 1. 61, 1.

65, 1. 65, 1. 72, and so on with no measurement larger than 1. 73 mm over about 5 meters. Measurements varied as much as 0. 07mm within 10cm of each other. Yikes. The color is great, though it is more translucent than I expected.

Also the test piece has a 6mm band of light purple in the middle of the 20mm height. It’s not off putting for what I’m doing, but if you need consistent color throughout, this might be a deal breaker.

I do appreciate how flexible the test part is while maintaining layer adhesion. If SainSmart can figure out how to consistently produce 1. 75mm +- 0. 02mm they will have an amazing product. Unfortunately, I’m going to have to contact them for a refund.

I wanted to experiment with flexible filament and for the price savings SainSmart TPU has been excellent so far. I’ve printed around 20 phone cases in three separate colors with no complaints about the filament.

Case design and button access are a different story, however. It’s very tough, flexible and durable with just a hint of stretch. My comparison is to think of a cheap lawn chair covered in whichever color looks appealing.

The phone cases have been popular and if you’ve been wanting to wrap a $700 phone with 70 cents worth of plastic, this is the stuff. Notes on using. I’ve never gotten this 100% dailed in and can get a few blobs inside the phone case walls, depending on the design.

After many tests, changing every variable, I gave in and ran the recommended settings for “Samurai Stretch” using Matterslice. I just accept a few blobs and trim them. I found the coarse setting was best for bridging.

Too thin a layer would pull away from the bridging off point no matter any other setting tested. Using a nozzle temp of 215c for a baseline, just a couple degrees variation changes the finish from slick and shiny to dull and grippy.

Tested-SainSmart TPU blue, black, green Printer Rostok Max v3 Mattercontrol and Matterslice bed temp 60c using washable glue stick for adhesive on glass nozzle temp 215c +or- for finish. 5mm nozzle, setting (coarse).

3mm layer height,. 25mm first layer speed 12mm/s 15mm/s bridging no retraction 100% fan for bridging.

Very misleading. It is industry standard to label items with the weight of the product you are buying, not the weight of the entire package including packaging, etc. I am making this a one star review to call this out in hopes that people look at it and determine can you trust someone you clearly cant trust.

Also, one other issue with this filament is that the diameter is very inconsistent. I have typically found at least 50-100 feet of unusable filament on every roll I have purchased (diameter of less than 1.

5mm). The normal diameter is about 1. 65mm and I have never measured it to be over 1. 7mm. So here again the title is incorrect. Otherwise, the quality of prints when you have consistent diameter is great.

Usually have to trash 50-100 feet per roll as it simply stops feeding. Of course you only have 30 days to discover this and unless you are a commercial printer you may not discover soon enough to get a replacement.

Quality of prints – Great provided you dont hit a thin spot in the filament. If you cant live with the limitations you may want to consider other brands.

With a previous 3D printer I made quite a few lithographs (3D prints of a photograph) and had really good results. With my new Zortrax M200+ and using white Z-PLA material, the results weren’t as good.

I suspect the Zortrax material is less white as this gave a yellowy tinge to the finished print when put against the old printed lithographs. So I tried the old material (which was BASICFIL PLA) and got equally good results.

Question:- Do Zortrax provide a whiter “white” than Z-PLA white ?.

TranslateShow in original languageGeniales Filament, ich habe mittlerweile einige Rollen CPE. Von der Stabilität her fast unschlagbar. Deutlich besser zu drucken als PETG. Ich drucke bei 270°C durch ein Fullmetal Hotend auf ein 90°C heißes Glasbett.
