20 Best Cardboard Boat Designs (2022 Updated)

I purchased this product as part of a Bible school theme room decoration. The first package arrived damaged (I believe the package got wet during transportation/delivery). However; Oriental Trading made the process of replacing it effortless.

I had the replacement product the very next day. It worked nice. Good size and quality. I would recommend this product to others.

The Camo pattern I received is HORRIBLE. It looks partially unfinished with huge blocks of light tan in addition to what looks like paint dripping runs. It looks like a botched amateur job…embarrassing to be honest.

I voiced my displeasure that the product I received looks nothing like what I thought I was ordering and the response from Paddleva was essentially they sent what I ordered and every Camo pattern is unique.

The worst part is I was on the fence about getting the Camo or a solid color. My main complaint is that if Old Town and especially Paddleva are aware the customer will be receiving something significantly different looking than what their pictures show, why on earth would you not disclose that information? I would have to spend an unreasonable amount of money to ship it back, so it looks like I am stuck with my new (expensive), but very used looking canoe.

The little ship is built so well and the detail is excellent Great for little hands to play with it

My granddaughter loves trucks and heavy equipment. I bought this for us to play with before we go to observe the cranes and freighters at the port. We’ve spent at least an hour playing with it each day since it arrived.

Love it, as does my 3 year old. Great for developing motor skills as well as keeping them quiet for 20 mins haha.

I purchased this pontoon thinking a few years ago. It was awesome. First problem I had was it doesn’t stir well at all with my trolling motor. But I used it for the first season anyway. If your on the river or lake and the wind picks up without out the bag full of rocks I had to provide you will drift all over the place.

My MAIN problem when I put it away for the winter in the compartment bags above the garage. And took them out again to use. I was very disappointed and angry to find the couplings attached the the bladders were cracked and neither would hold air.

I can’t believe anyone else has had this problem and a recall was inplace. Of course mine was out of warranty. Figures! Not a happy customer.

Classic Accessories does not know that an inflatable boat must stay inflated to float. They really know how to pack a boat. Now, they have to learn how to build a boat. Two out of two pontoons leak quickly.

Two out of two valves do not function properly. I will return the boat. I am very disappointed that Walmart would deal with a company like Classic Accessories subjecting Walmart customers to such a huge hassle! I am “sure” that Walmart will stand behind their return policy.

We love our boat so much that we bought a second one so my husband I can go out together. He is a disabled veteran and a big guy. He is not the best swimmer and was not comfortable in a kayak or canoe.

Colorado pontoon boat is extremely stable went on the water. The oars are heavy duty and lock in place so they will not accidentally fall in the water. We purchased a trolling motor to attach to the included mounting blocks so that when he need the break from rowing the motor is there.

There is plenty of storage space for tackle and it is easily accessible while on the water. One of my favorite features is that the boat breaks down and will fit in our trunk.

We bought this boat for a small flat water boat for fishing in tight places where we cant take our 17ft center console skiff. I love how quiet it is on the water, how stable it is, how well laid out it is, and how much storage space you have.

It’s also much cooler to sit in and touch the inside surfaces than an aluminum jon boat when sitting in the sun. We ran it in a fairly strong current in a small river with a 3hp outboard and it performed as you would expect from a flat bottom boat.

It seems very study and durable too. We hit a stump in the river and surprisingly it didn’t even leave a mark on the hull. The major disadvantage, and what I hate, is the seats are too low for someone my size (6’4” and 215lbs) to sit comfortably and mounting seats is a real challenge.

There isn’t any wood inside the seat tubs so all you have to mount the seat to is the plastic tub top and I’m not sure thats going to be strong enough to hold a guy my size. There’s also the concern of drilling into the flexible tubs.

It’s hard to seal something flexible like plastic so theres the danger of creating a place to funnel water into the hull. If the seat tubs were designed with wood reinforcements to be able to securely mount seats then this would be a 5-star boat all day long.

It moves through the water effortlessly and silently, just not very comfortably.

well the price is good , i had the boat sins a year know. lets see , i will say the good thing first then the things i think need improve. well first of all this boat got some space , woow i love the space it have i can now fit a cooler in the back ouh i can fit all my gear at the back no problems, cooler fishing lures and fishing gear + a small continuer with some things in it like light ad list goos on an on , then the factory fishing rood holder one of the best things about it , the handle is helpful.

the siting positions is not that bad but you need something to set on it if you stay a long time in the boat. good thing that it coms with to motor mount , the material got some advantage and dis advancing.

it’s though but it’s hard to stick something on it or to modify. NOW LITS SEE BAD THINGS , no drain plugs so if you ben to some high waters you will have some hard time , the boat is not stabile as i wanted but some foam in the sides fixed it 50% , the sets had no back support :(.

i would love to have 3 person in it ,, come on it’s a 12 foot , but the thing is when the 3 person set the boat be come front heavy so waves gets in. so i would love to see this thing fixed , amm the max lode you can have in is 190 kg , i had a 8 foot and it got the same max lode !! last ting this thing is heavy so don’t think that you can lode it on a car by your self.

do i recommend it? well yes i do but if you only can live with the dis advantage by the way this boat is a good boat to modify be your own , EXTRA INFO. i use this boat with a 2. 5 mercury and the fastest i got with 2 person on board is 6 or 7 KM/H lights are addable if thy work by batteries ( using bicycles lights green and red) floor is not confortabil to set on so get something to bot behind your back and under you , this way you will stay longer in the sea , good way to add to the confortabil level is to install cop holder.

(not much work ). you may need a jet ski trailer to move it essayer. GO AND HAVE FUN :).

Only had it out once. Worked fine for two of us. Would give it higher score but have no idea of durability or length of lifetime.

This is a product made possible by Laser cutting ! It is a precision job , BUT beware ! You need to be some good at wood modelling. It’s not for the faint hearted. I’m struggling with some areas , but making a better fist of the Easier sections.

with the acquisition of excellent figures , I hope to make something to be proud of ? It’s a big hope.

Challenging and ideal for a long project.

Good value for $$s. I purchased as a tender to teach grandchildren sailing in their Optimist. I use a 3hp Mercury. Pros – quick to inflate and stable for 2 in the water. Light to carry (I added dinghy wheels on transom as I’m old!).

Cons – hyperlon material already lifting around transom. Will require regluing soon. Also, oars are inclined to jump out of their holders when motoring. Advert showed a bag was included but no bag in box which was a huge disappointment as it is very difficult to carry when folded up if not in a carry bag.

What happened here Tradetested??.

Really lucky to find this on special at $699. probably comes up a couple of times a year? Very good value at that price. Easy to put together, not too heavy. A good package to pack it into. Just fine to put on the roof-rack of our boat and on the water comfortable for 2 adults and 2 large kids.

The distributor who sells outboards to this company describes it as a ‘load of rubbish’ because I didn’t buy one of his boats (at twice the price). I think this boat will be fine if we keep it out of the sun as much as possible.

We were going to by one of his outboards for it but decided against it because the manager of that company was rude and less helpful than a migraine. The only small down side of this dinghy is that it comes with an inflator with a digital pressure gauge which comes without batteries and my local hardware warehouse does not even stock them (LR44)!.

Both myself and a mate of mine run these little boats with 15 hp outboards, his is a four stroke engine and mine a two. Both go really well and plane with 3 people, do about 22mph. we use ours with two of us and the dog plus bbq and gear and it’s perfect.

For the money I don’t think they can be faulted. I had a smaller 2. 8m boat and would say the extra height and space of the 3. 3 is a must, not to mention tha additional buoyancy helps it plane faster.

I suspect it would be fine with a 10 hp engine but the extra few ponies doesn’t hurt. I read a review about it not being good in the sea, if it’s calm it will be fine if it’s rough it will be wet and slow, as would any 3.

3m boat. For something that rolls up and fits in the car and can be launched with two people I think they are great. With a 15 hp you could even two kids in a Donought. We use ours in the sea off cornwall( when it’s calm) , Loch Lomond and around the lakes.

Decent boat for the price for real. Has a aluminum floor you snap in. Even has a v hull you can inflate. Ores are ok and maneuvers easy enough. My only complaint is the pump they include. Just throw it away and get a cheap electric air pump.

You arms won’t make it. And it’s cheaply built. My hose cams premade with a hole in it anyways. Overall I would buy it again with out question.

Just got back from the first trip with this raft – 6 days on the San Juan at low water (~650 cfs). The boat handled beautifully. I am in love with this raft. I previously owned an older model NRS Otter 14′, and I have to say, I like this raft better.

I was unsure about the drop stitch floor when I ordered it, but the firmness and solid footing is excellent. I believe the tubes are bigger than the original Otter and make for a fun ride. The boat handled really well in rocky, technical water.

I am super impressed with this raft and even happier that a great boat exists at this price point!.

4 stars because my raft came scuffed up and the capsule that holds the patch kit was shattered. Could be the carriers fault and not CKS’s tho. Anyways, we’ve really enjoyed this raft. It’s surprisingly quick to inflate and rolls up small enough for us to store.

It’s done great in class 3 rapids so far. Sits 5 people comfortably (without a frame). Will get a frame eventually. Definitely need a 3rd thwart too.

Perfect for what we needed these for, to ship our handmade banners with more protection inside a mailer. Love that they’re perforated, too, and very easy to snap apart!

I use these cardboard sheets to deliver original art through the USPS, so I need something reliable. I’ve sent dozens in the mail using these cardboard sheets and I haven’t had a complaint yet.

Love this tube when it’s inflated. We’ve had tons of fun on it. BUT. woe to the person who deflates it and isn’t very careful about keeping track of the filler valve. Mine got moved around, bunched up, etc and I paid no attention.

When it came time to pump it back up, the filler valve was nowhere to be found. I had to manipulate the bladder this way and that and shake it and twist it and OMG I thought I’d never get it back in the proper place.

The hole in the cover is a bit to small for my hand to go through, making it all the worse. Now I almost don’t dare to deflate it. I keep a piece of thin rope handy to tie to the filler valve so I don’t lose it again.

It seems to me that it would be child’s play for the manufacturer to put some kind of attachment there so the bladder doesn’t move around. But other than that, I’d buy it again and recommend it to anyone.

Very well made as far as I can tell.

this wedged tube is perfect for the kids of all sizes. it swings outside without any effort. very easy to get back on, did submarine one time while empty after a Wipeout and coming back around, so cautious at 5-10 mph empty.

ordered another one today so I can swing two tubes and six kids. gonna be awesome 👌!.

Took us a few uses (meaning days on the water) to figure out why the front kept dumping and couldn’t get the kids on plane. When the tube hit the cold water, the air would shrink and it wouldn’t be as filled (couldn’t tell that).

You really have to fill it to max capacity to get it to stay above water. So it worked ok. Was great times when it worked, but took too many tries and a lot of time spent not working.

Per my previous review after contacting Sea Striker about my fractured rods I found them to be very helpful and accommodating. They replaced the rods under warranty and had me return a couple so they could look at the problem, maybe new models have been changed.

Unheard of these days as most manufacturers would probably care less. I would change my previous review but cannot. so here’s another. Hats off to Sea Striker.

bought 16 SSU3080C Billfishers for my halibut charter business in Alaska. Decent rods although had 2 fail before 2 months. 1 had reel seat come loose, 1 had fiberglass fracture. I believe there is warranty but cost to return is too expensive from this other country so cannot comment on return service.

For a private person I think these rods would be fantastic, well made ( if you can send back for warranty if needed ).

I have 4-7′ Penn Mariner solid glass rods I use for Shark fishing. But, it looks like Penn dropped the ball. AGAIN! And the solid glass Mariner rods, “the stand-up models” became hard to find or Penn stopped making them.

BIG MISTAKE. So, here comes SeaStriker to the rescue, with the Billfisher model. THANK YOU SEASTRIKER! Shark fishing with charter customers, Solid Glass durable rods, GO HAND IN HAND! Day one out with customers with these rods was July 4th.

And they easily put a few 50-100 pound Blacktip sharks to the boat.

I’ve paddle twice with my new Yacht Hopper in September, on a lake and on a river, both rides went great. The board is stable, easy to paddle and change directions, confortable for a picnic break! I like that there’s bungee cords in front and back.

Everything was packed easily in the rolling bag, the only thing is the bag doesn’t stay up by itself (only 2 wheels). And it’s a little hard to inflate the board by myself – I’ll get an electric pump next spring!.

Looks amazing. Just unpacked the board and have not had the opportunity to try it. Late in the season. Board came with a small scratch or smear in the design so I took a star from overall rating on that but looks solid.

Will add the review once I have it on the water! Is it was not for the scratch initial review would be a 5/5. Looking at getting another one.

I love the board. It’s solid, super stable and fun. It’s a great beginner board. And is also fun for kids to jump around on and off of. M only complaint is the tiny screw and nut that holds the fin must be put on and taken off every time you use the board.

The first time I assembled the board, the tiny screw fell into the grass and disappeared. There must be a better way to attach the fin without having to assemble tiny parts. Something that could stay attached?.

We use this as the dingy stowed behind our yacht to get onto remote beaches and small islands. Its been out in the sun all summer long for 3 yrs and still in good shape. The oar locks are good and the motor mount is solid.

Very solid feel with aluminum floor, and 4 good quality chamber valves for fast fill and empty (buy extra electric Coleman pump). The pressure gauge that was included helps to not over/under fill. The one way bilge valve is great to let the rain drain out, and to empty any water once planing (using motor).

It took some time getting it setup initially but easy to get together now after spending the time. It is solid and more durable than the 8 foot inflatable. You can stand up comfortably on this boat. Its very durable.

Highly recommended. Wide enough to sit comfortably and some extra room to fit 2 adults and child with ease.

Das Schlauch und Luftsystem ist gut durchdacht mit den drei Luftkammern. Auch, dass die Luft beim entkoppeln der Luftpumpe keine Luft verliert und es eine Feststelltaste gibt, wenn man die Luft rauslassen möchte(man muss dann nicht die ganze Zeit drücken).

Das Material an sich wirkt auf mich sehr robust und widerstandsfähig. Der Spiegel mach, was er soll und ist sogar verstärkt. 2 Personen mit einer Klapp-Sackkarre, 2 Rucksäcken, einem 5Liter Kanister und Essen, finden darauf Platz.

Dennoch sollte man gut planen und nicht zu viel mitnehmen, dann liegt das Boot echt besser. Ein durchgängiger Holzlattenboden wäre vielleicht besser, aber auch schwerer. Eine Airmatte ist Quatsch. Auf so einem Bott sollte man einfach nicht stehen.

Das Gewand, welches um das Boot ist, ist gut gemacht und robust. Es wird wie ein Geschenk gefaltet und dann mit 2 oder 3 Gurten zusammen gezogen. Die Ösen, wo die Gurte durchkommen, sind nicht so meins, da bei stärkerem Zug, dass entlasten des Gurtes katastrophal ist.

Dafür sieht es gut aus und ist kein Plastik. Das Boot kann zu zweit gut getragen werden(von zwei robust gebauten mind. 1,70m großen Personen weiblich/männlich egal, mit etwas Kraft). Eine klappbare Sackkarre ist aber genial und erleichtert alles.

Großes Manko: warum hat man das Gewand oder den Sack für das Boot nicht so konzipiert, dass man das Ganze auf dem Rücken tragen kann? Das ist aber auch das einzige größere Manko. Alles in allem ein super Boot.

Super Technik. Die Luftpumpe ist eine riesige 40-50cm lange Pumpe. Unnötig, aber dafür effektiv beim Aufpumpen. Ich empfehle eine elektronische Pumpe. Ist kompakter. Die Paddel sind spitze, das Sitzbrett auf dauer zu hart(nach 8 Stunden Benutzung).

Und die Einfedelung des Brettes bedarf Fingerfertigkeit. Ich empfehle es auf die Ankerpunkte der Paddel zu machen. Insgesamt vielleicht so 4,8 Sterne, aufgerundet 5. Ach und schnelle Lieferung von 12Seemeilen.

Alles sicher verpackt und ein kleiner Tip noch:legt das Sitzbrett und die Paddel zwischen das zusammengefaltete Boot. Funktioniert wunderbar und der Platz ist ja da.

an aluminum, having had my share of bent and dented seats after dropping weight belts, etc. The wood is bullet proof. Shipping was super fast, and communication with the seller was 5 star also. Like I said, this isn’t my first inflatable rodeo, so I have a pretty good idea of what works for us.

It’s has to be tough, easy to install aluminum floor, easy to assemble and disassemble, and hold together in the worst ocean conditions. For the price, it’s the best value on this size and spec inflatable, with a large company with a whole lot of accessories for this boat, from trolling motors, to under-seat storage, to complete canopy for winter use.

Consider using a low cost, light trolling motor instead of feeling you need an expensive, heavy and messy outboard. The trollers are the bomb these days. Highly recommend for fishing, diving, family fun in small, affordable package from known manufacturer.

I bought this boat few month back, it is so good. It has thick PVC. It also has pre-installed rod holders that are very useful. That is the best price on market, I dream for that type of boat for a long time and only now when I found ALEKO I was able to buy it.

That boat is incredible stable, I can walk in it with no problem. Now I can go fishing with my family and have fun on it with a gas motor.

Have had my Jag with fishing frame for 16 years. Extremely versatile. Handles all Northwest Montana flyfishing duties and whitewater. Didn’t want 2 boats and this was more versatile than a drift boat.

Can be used in traditional drift boat waters (Madison, Missouri, etc) though doesn’t handle quite as well as a hard shell but gets the job done. Fishing from the front elevated station is a dream and better than position in a drift boat.

Advantage – goes where drift boats dare not in all the Flathead river system and any other whitewater you can throw at it. Have stored it outside for 16 years with a Costco car cover I buy every 4 years or so and it still looks fantastic.

One of smartest fishing investments I’ve made. Will likely outlast me.

Over 10 years ago, I purchased my Jaguarundi with full fishing frame and two aluminum diamond plate floors. It’s seen a lot of use, cleans up well and still looks pretty new. Someone knifed it once, aout 5 years after I bought it, Aire replaced the tube for free.

Great platform for fishing, particularly in front; feel more connected to water than in a drift boat. Best choice if you sometimes do class 3-4 while fishing where driftboats can’t go, but still does a bang up job on slower rivers.

It’s seen many days on the Flathead system (all 3 forks) the Mo, Bitteroot, Blackfoot, Madison, Jefferson, Beaverhead, Big Hole, Stone, Kootenai, Elk, and the Bow. Just a great rig that’ll serve you well.

apparently for decades. I store mine all winter (harsh, NW Montana) outdoors under a car cover and it does fine.

If you are looking for a cat that can handle technical, big water, while still carrying gear, this is your boat. Thankfully gone are the days of flat top/flat bottom sausage boats, because these tubes rock.

As with any cat, be careful how you load gear and trim it out, but with a reasonable load and slight weight front bias, this boat tracks well through nasty cross current, smashes big waves, and will make crux moves with predictability.

Every time I row this boat, I’m amazed at how small it feels on the oars–very easy to spin, ferry, and accelerate. It’s an 18′ boat that can handle some gear and people, but feels like a big Wave Destroyer.
