20 Best Cardigans For Summer (2022 Updated)

I received two of these as a gift – black and navy. First the fabric feels different between the two cardigans. The navy is soft and smooth while the black one isn’t quite as smooth and feels like a lesser quality fabric.

Second, the black is not a vibrant deep black, it’s more of a faded, washed out black. Totally different than navy. Third, the pockets on both are horrendous. They stick out just below my hips and don’t lay flat like in the pictures.

I definitely would have returned both if they had not been ordered so far ahead of Christmas by the person who gave them to me. I used to buy from lands end all the time, but the quality has just gone down hill and I’m totally disappointed in these two cardigans.

For the price, they should be consistent in their manufacturing process and fabrics. Really, really surprised by all the good reviews posted. Since I have two cardigans with design flaws, I’m sure I can’t be the only one w these issues.

I really love this cardi. I have several open front cardis in different lengths, knits and colors so I did not really need another one BUT the longer length really drew me in. I am about five and a half feet tall and this cardi hits me mid-thigh.

Also it is a loose enough fit that it does not cling to whatever I wearing underneath, but it not so loose it looks frumpy. I love that I can wear it with leggings and not feel like I am waving what should be kept covered around in the breeze, at least in my opinion! I hate shirts and sweater with a significantly longer back than front.

I just think it looks stupid and I refuse to anything with that profile. For me this is the perfect solution for leggings and other clingy knits. I want my back side AND my crotch to remain out of view.

I typically wear this type of sweater with a longer flowy top and leggings. It is a nice year round weight for warmer climates and a good three season option for those of us who have snow storms a good portion of the year.

I see in some of the review people are complaining about the pockets which I don’t get. I love the fact that these are not patch pockets which I don’t normally care for and which are featured on pretty much every open front cardi I have ever seen.

The pockets are held up with a thin cord to keep them from dragging the cardi down or pulling in an awkward fashion. I think it is a pretty ingeneous solution. I have not noticed any bulk or bulging when I wear the sweater.

The quality is fantastic as most things from LE are. My only complaint is the color selection. Neutrals are always useful and I am planning on purchasing a couple more neutral shades, by why all the anemic pastels in the fall? How about bright jewel tones instead? At least here in the great white North we need serious color in the winter.

That is why I gave this item for out of five stars. Give more and better color choices and I will buy them all.

I bought 2 other open cotton cardigans that looked like this one. Really happy. In reviews I was reading, people talked of so many wrinkles not good fabric, and I wondered, since I didn’t have this problem.

This was long long and the wrist bands and bottom are not what I was expecting. I haven’t found a person who likes it, to gift to them. Light blue frost was pretty. Too bad Too sad. Not for me,maybe, someone…I guess that’s why it was marked down so low.

I have this in both red and black and LOVE them! You can dress them up or down. The do not wrinkle and wash and travel well! Would love to see more colors.

This year there’s two versions of this cardigan! The one from last year is the other listing for Universal Thread’s cardigan, that’s the thicker heavier more oversized one. This one is thinner & lighter but I love that because it’s still a nice quality for when it’s not really cold out.

In the heavier style (the one from last year) I wear a size small & it fits me oversized. In this style I wear a medium to get a semi oversized look! It’s shorter than the other one too so I sized up for length as well.

The only thing is that they have a weird smell, all of them aired out but the grey one smells like fish food or cat litter :’) & hasn’t aired out. Im not sure if it’s the material or something sketchy lol.

I ordered another one & hoping that one doesn’t smell the same way. Aside from the smell, I recommend these! Very cute & comfy without being too hot.

This is a top-quality, well-made sweater coat. It’s great that it has nice sized pockets ! The yellow shown is the exact color it is. I ordered a second one (same color) bc I loved it so much ! I have worn it a lot and it has not gotten any fuzzballs.

I have not yet needed to launder it so cannot comment on that. I usually wear a Large or Extra-Large but I wear a Medium in this sweater coat. I am 5’2”, 180# and the hem hits me 3” below my knees. Perfect ! It is so comfortable & very warm.

Because it is a heavier-weight, it holds its shape while I’m wearing it. It is very fashionable & hangs nicely. I get a lot of compliments on it. The value for the money is exceptional ! It is indeed a much much more expensive-looking sweater coat than what I paid for it, even at regular price !.

I am 145lbs 5’3”. I got the green in an xsmall and it fits perfect! I am normally a medium in tops but I went with the xsmall because last year’s version of this was huge and I had to get an xsmall in that one.

This year it fits slightly oversized and is still long enough to mostly cover my backside. If I had wanted it to fit more oversized I would have went with a small but sleeves may be too long then. A medium would have been way too big.

I love that this is cotton as most sweaters make me itchy! It is soft but this year’s the weave is a bit looser so it may snag easier. Overall totally recommend!.

The colors are nice and the style is very nice. My problem is the fabric . It is very cheap. After one wash they do not look nice anymore . A lot of fuzz it is just not the same as it used to be.

I wanted a new black sweater for fall and decided on this one. The sleeves are a little too short and the fabric bags out. Nor very good quality.

Love these! I normally wear a true small, but purchased XS. (5’ 4” and 120 lbs. ) The sleeves hung down and were more saggy than I’d like (when my arms are straight out across) and the back seemed extra roomy when wearing a small, so I sized down.

I think the length of the sleeves in the XS are excellent for me and the length of the back still goes down to the booty. They’ll keep you warm but still feel lightweight!.

Ordered Rust color in large. It’s not oversized and bulky. It is more of a fitted cardigan. I should have ordered a medium bc the material makes it just look too big rather than oversize. But I still love the color and the fit, just wasn’t as thick as I was expecting.

The X pattern in the back you can see thru the stitching. I’m unsure if its purposefully or just flawed.

I love this cardigan! It’s thin so it’s definitely a fall versus winter piece but its not as oversized as Targets usual cardigan offerings which I love. I got it in the heather grey, which is a bit misleading as it’s quite dark and more like a heather black.

It is true to the color displayed on screen. The detailing on the back gives it a little something extra. I wish it came in a cream color as well. For reference I’m 5’3 114 pounds and I got the XS. It fits perfectly, fitted but not too fitted and NOT oversized.

I need to wear solid black for many work tasks. This is my favorite cardigan. Clean look. Cotton is very soft; nice mid-to-light weight (not see-through; not hot and bulky). Fading is minimal (frequent washing).

The collar lays VERY nicely, fabric doesn’t wrinkle, drape is nice and it falls at low hip (covers back if I reach up or bend). My first one wore out after 1 year of daily use (including daily washes)–developed a hole in an elbow.

I now have two, a large and a medium. I like the large a little better for the longer sleeves. Pockets are so-so but I’d miss them if they weren’t there- shallow and anything with weight (a car key and half-dollar size key chain will shift how it hangs).

A small clasp/pin keeps the front closed while walking–will flare out if walking quickly.

I love the overall shape and fit and fabric of this cardigan. It’s almost everything I wanted in a lightweight, functional cardigan for my role as a hospital chaplain. However–the pockets barely fit my hands, and anything I put in them falls out right away–my phone, my debit card, my office key, etc.

The lack of functional pockets makes the garment useless for me, and is a double annoyance when the Perfect Fit Pants (which match) also didn’t have pockets. Patch pockets, or even simply deeper pockets with a little stitch at the bottom to prevent items from falling out, would make a world of difference here.

I should have purchased this in navy when offered years ago. Although it looks more substantial in photos, this new version is very thin and extremely lightweight, which unfortunately seems to be a trend with many of their items lately.

I wanted this for Spring and Fall but here in the upper Midwest, but I guess it will be more of an early and late summer cardigan only. However, LLB Pima is still very soft, silky, non-shrinking and non-fading.

I would not pay full price due to the weight. I hope this new fabric holds up.

I bought this two weeks ago, and I am so happy I did. It is a perfect piece to transition in to fall. The matching tank completes the look. The two pieces can be worn with jeans or the Brigette tan ankle slacks.

Add a pair of statement earrings and flats or ankle boots and you are ready for lunch with the girls or dinner with your husband and friends. I wish Chico’s would add more colors in this style.

This is called a ‘cardigan’ but it is more like a shawl with sleeves. It fits true to size and covers the derrière nicely and looks great plus – it is warm. Just what I needed to cover my shoulders at the restaurant.

It will be very versatile for the winter months.

It is soo cute. Perfect for winters. I bought it for someone else but it fit me (and the person) well even though I wear a h&m size M (XL in general) so I recommend referring to the size chart.

Beautiful cardigan/jumper, i would defo recommend sizing up because its weirdly tight around the chest area , quite a thin material as well so you could put a roller neck top underneath to add some layering.

I love the sweater! I’m tall; 5’ 8” to be exact. I have long legs. The sweater is the perfect length with a long torso as well. It complements my outfit to upgrade the casual look. I can wear it for business or I can dress it down.

I have broad shouters. The medium size fits me very well.

When I buy cardigans I want a great look, stylish buttons, high quality materials and easy to care for cardigan You can hand wash and hang dry and sweater still looks new!!! I will buy several of these in different colors.

I’m not sure why there are so many bad reviews. This sweater fits perfectly, the fabric is soft and a little stretchy, and I love the stylish buttons! I’m going to buy a couple more colors I love it so much.

Candace THANK YOU FOR THE XXXS. Thank you for considering petites. I loved the grey color in this sweater. I liked the deep V neck too. However the sweater had a slight scratch and a slight smell to it.

I have sensitive skin but even in the sweltering heat my old Isaac sweaters, my H by Halston sweaters and my Linea sweaters did not feel rough on my skin, hot yes, but not rough. Cheaper yarns have shorter fibers and can have a slight roughness.

Some of my perfectly petite proportioned Karen Scott Macy’s sweaters have this kind of yarn and, in spite of how good they look fit and color wise, I rarely wear them. I knew I would probably not wear your sweater either for the same reason even though I loved the color and the v neck.

Your casual classic vibe is wonderful. Here is where I think you could use a little work. The cut of this sweater looks like a computer generated color by number created it. The line of the body and the arms have no nuance; the body is a strait box that doesn’t consider how to flatter the form underneath it.

The sleeves don’t elegantly flow from the box like torso either. They look stuck on. They don’t taper a little from wider to very slightly more narrow. Proportionally this would be more elegant and would help the body of the sweater not look so much like a box.

A professional designer like Basso, Isaac, Del’Olio or Jason Woo has training in how a garment is put together and they know their fabrics. They have experience fitting garments as well. Look at Eileen Fisher too.

Her style is not the same as yours but you can see the very subtle things she does with fit that make her garments flow and look elegant. Your button down shirts need to focus on things like the shape of the collar.

You can make adjustments to a standard color shape wise. Look at what Del Olio did (no longer at the Q) with a button down. His collars were beautiful. Sleeves are shapes. They should be beautiful. An experienced designer, preferably of a pre computer design age, could probably help you refine the results you want.

I ordered the Green and Dark Pink color, both are vibrant and beautiful!! Yes they are soft but I did see a wrinkle or two when they arrived so I am hoping this fabrication does not hold onto wrinkles.

I will be going back for the grey color as well!! Perfect for a great layering piece and yes you can wear it alone as a button up sweater. For all of you complaining that Candace is designing for just petites, which FINALLY a designer that gets how clothing should fit on a petite besides look at the range of sizes she offers, no one is left out.

QVC has a lot of designers that design for regular and tall customers so just stick with them and don’t write negative reviews if you think something is too “short” for you, actually her garments are made to fit perfect and not over whelming on the body no matter the design.

I would have loved to see matching tees to these cardigans in the same colors because I love a layer matched look. You won’t be disappointed , the Cardigan really is a perfect weight, fit and colors are beautiful.

Now I just to figure out the boots Candace had on during the shows!!.

So pleased with my purchase!!! This is an adorable cardigan that can be worn open as a topper OR as a button-up top. A two-for-one bargain, in my opinion! From the sophisticated color options, to the cozy but light fabric, to the pretty tonal pearlescent buttons, to the long sleeves (so tired of 3/4 length!) that end in a sweet little ruffle, it makes an ideal addition to my fall wardrobe.

I loved it so much that I just had to order two, one in the gorgeous Hot Fuchsia and one in the striking and elegant Oatmeal/Blue combo, both in my usual Size Small. They fit me beautifully, and I can’t wait for cooler weather so that I actually have the chance to wear them.

The only other thing I could possibly wish for are MATCHING SLEEVELESS SHELLS to go underneath. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, Candace!!! I’m sure I’m not the only gal who would appreciate the opportunity to create the perfect Fall twinset!.

The pros: material is 100% Cotton. Medium weight and good quality. The buttons are a nice touch. The cons: the fit, the drop shoulders, the very oversized sleeves with saggy armpit area almost reaching your natural waist.

It is a slouchy sweater even at the smallest size XSP, but with the drop shoulders style, the slouch is more pronounced especially on a petite frame. I’m 5’2, 118-120lbs with a 34C bust. It just overwhelmed me and I usually prefer somewhat loose fitting layers, but this is too much.

Unfortunately, I ordered three and they’re all going back. I cannot size down any further.

The charcoal color won’t disappoint! I purchased the large TALL to ensure it would be long enough- glad I did. Nice weight for fall nights or winter days. I wish it had side pockets – front ones would look stupid.

It’s like your Grandfather’s cardigan with the little see through hole things for an updated more feminine look. I could have sized down to Medium Tall – but solid cardi.

This is a nice quality sweater but does run very large. Depending on how you want it to fit you may have to go down 2 sizes. Definitely ignore the Gaps sizing scale which says its true to size. wrong.

This sweater is 100% cotton so it will probably shrink slightly if put in the dryer.

I am a 2 in dresses and a 4 in pants, so was worried the Small might be too big/bulky. Glad to say it fits beautifully; with fitted arms and a shape that stays put. The button details dress up the cardigan enough to go well with my dressy work clothes.

This is a warm sweater that is perfect for colder months but not itchy on bare arms. I am thrilled with both the black and olive. Best of all, I have a long torso, and this is not too short at all. Covers my belt and hips well without fanning out and making me look heavier than I am.

I bought this after I saw my friend wearing it in blue; I bought the olive and love it just as much! I’m 5’5 with a long torso, broad shoulders and weigh about 155 (usually wear Size 8). The Medium fits perfectly.

The length could be a little longer, but I run into that a lot with my longer torso. It’s a great layering piece. Just wish the material was a little softer, as the arms are a tad scratchy. Overall a great purchase – so stylish!.

I ordered both olive and navy for work. They look professional yet are comfortable and cozy. I look forward to wearing come fall and winter. The fit is good, I would just keep in mind that this sweater is short and slightly cropped in length so just know that because some people don’t like that fit.

This cardigan fascinates me. Usually such a straight, long cardigan wouldn’t look good on me but this one does and I don’t know why. I absolutely love the long sleeves. I have average length arms and I love that the sleeves cover my knuckles completely – it’s so cozy.

The fabric is thick & cuddly. It’s soft but not like the super soft fabric offered nowadays. It’s a teeny bit scratchy although it doesn’t bother my sensitive skin. I bought the Wine which has some rust in it, in my opinion.

Doesn’t match my burgundy tops yet on its own it’s certainly a wine color. I also bought the Charcoal because it looked so good on Becky. Most of my clothes are bright colors but I love this beautiful deep, deep gray color.

I’m 5’5″ & length comes down to about 2″ below my knees. All in all, the colors are as unique as the cardigan. Apparently the cardigan was designed to have very long sleeves & not close in the front so I’d say order your usual size, if you like the style.

I bought this sweater along with the matching shirt they showed it with. I ordered the large in both which is my normal size. The shirt fit great but this sweater was huge. The sleeves hung past my fingertips and it was surprisingly heavy.

As in the longer you wear it the weight of it actually stretches it out more. I like my sweaters on the roomier side but this was ridiculous, it was huge. Also, it would be so much better if it had pockets.

It’s disappointing that I ordered two items of the same brand and size that are wildly different sizes. Paying for return shipping stinks when I feel this is definitely a sizing issue from the company and not my fault.

First of all, this Dijon mustard color sweater knit cardigan was so soft and plush I was instantly hooked. The color saturation yielded the perfect shade of yellow, the 2021 Pantone season color. It shipped just in time for my trip to Eden Prairie, Minnesota for the live studio audience taping of the 7th Anniversary of Wake Up In Style.

I wore it on the airplane to shield me from the air condition and evening air during my travel from California to Minnesota. I purchased another one in olive. No buyer’s remorse here.

I bought this cardigan because I love the port color and needed a dressier cardigan for work. This fits exactly like the photos show. it is very form-fitting when stretched a bit to button closed. When unbuttoned, the cardigan springs open wide.

I would say it runs a bit small. I am normally between a small and XS in WHBM tops and the small fits the best, although it is still fairly clingy. I love the long sleeves. I am finding the buttons are a bit difficult to get thru the loops, but that may improve with wear.

I bought this to go mostly with leggings but can also be worn with jeans. I’m almost always an xs in sweaters but bought a S bc the xs didn’t hang properly if I left it unbuttoned. The S hung nicely and didn’t look too big or baggy in the arms or back.

It’s a super soft sweater and would love to see this in the officer blue or deep emerald green. This cardigan will go with many of the WHBM leggings. Can’t wait for it to get cooler here. I’m 5’2” #117 32D for reference.

I had been in search for a pink cardigan for a long time! Cardigans are my thing and pink is something I am still trying to get comfortable with. I was very picky with the shade of pink I was looking for, but I saw this online and decided to risk it, order it, and ended up LOVING it! It is very comfortable with a soft shade color and I also like that it comes with pockets.

Nice length and fit. Nothing odd about it. Lovely pale rose color. Pockets! I already feel cozy and comfy like a character in a Nordic Noir show.
