This is a great book and advice given truly helps to lower cholesterol versus taking statins. I will not take statins because I watched how ill they made my Mom. So my doctor told me to make changes in my diet to do the job.

Well I started looking online and found this book. Believe me it works!! Now, I am fully aware that some individuals still have to take the statin medications and I advise them to do that but also follow the advice in this book.

You will not regret it. The book also points out food that is good/bad for your cholesterol.

This book is easy to understand and read. Cholesterol lowering and discussion is everywhere in our health arena. This is easy to follow and implement without the use of high cost synthetic drugs.

Good book. Great research and guidance on lowering cholesterol. Im just getting into it, but I like the helpful tips on menu ideas. I received another book I didnt order too.

I am so disappointed in the appearance of the bell. I ordered the matte black however the engraving with the product name, rather than appearing as silver and evenly coloured as illustrated, shows as bronze, really destroying the appearance.

The engraving requested is uneven in colouring and also shows bronze in varying shades. I highly recommend not wasting money on appearance. For $40 more I got a stethoscope that looks worse than just the plain silver would have.

Between the product name and the requested engraving – mostly the product name – the bell looks as if someone has scratched the bell up carelessly. I wanted to treat myself to something professional looking, different from others.

Instead I paid extra for a stethoscope that appears to have been chewed upon by a sharp toothed animal.

The Littman Cardiology IV stethoscope as a listening device is excellent. The fact that by changing the pressure on the diaphragm you can filter out some noises and thus you can listen to other frequencies is very nice.

The sound is loud, clear and crisp, but. and a big one at it. Be prepared to deal with the plague of the sticky binaural tubing. The flexible plastic compound degrades and becomes sticky, and it get to the point of feeling sticky wet.

I did send mine to Littmann/3M Service under warranty, and when I got it back, the new binaural tubing, was sticky too, not as much as the one it had before, but enough to pick up lint from my clothes, dust from surfaces and who know what else.

I then went on-line and found plenty of complaints in Nurses and Doctor Forums about Littmann stethoscopes. I called Littmann again, and I was negatively surprised when I was told to use cornstarch (Talcum Powder) to prevent the stickiness.

Cornstarch enhances the growth of bacteria. When you purchase an instrument in this price range, you do not want to be thinking about having to clean the tubing just so it does not look disgusting. I want to clean it to be sterile.

I did not find negative reviews about sticky tubing on competitor’s products.

I bought a cardiology IV this year in preparation for my physician training exam. The diaphragm fell off the week before my trial exam only after 1-2 months of use. I requested for a replacement stethoscope as it was obviously faulty- this has never happened before and I have used 2 other stethoscopes.

Medshop was not helpful and sent me an email to request a refund but ONLY for NEW stethoscopes and 3M (maker or distributor of Littman stethoscopes) also refused to replace my stethoscope. 3M at least sent me a replacement diagram.

Now 7 months after my initial purchase, the diaphragm has AGAIN fallen off. I need someone to take responsibility and replace my stethoscope.

I obtained the MDF Cardiology Stethoscope to replace my old stethoscope. The previous is also a US brand name stethoscope and it was good for the basics, it could pick up a clear heart rate and detect significant heart murmurs but I had trouble hearing more subtle murmurs and lung sounds with it.

The MDF Classic Cardiology Stethoscope was obviously a big jump up in quality and I was astounded by the difference. The clarity of sound the MDF Classic Cardiology stethoscope allows you to hear is better than any other stethoscope I’ve used.

I found the MDF much better for detecting subtle heart and lung sounds, I’m hearing heart murmurs I haven’t been able to pick up before! The acoustics are outstanding. Purchased this stethoscope a few weeks ago and I love it!! I am an Orthopedic Trauma nurse. I can definitely hear very clearly with minimal background noise interference. I think the ear pieces are really designed well to conform to the shape of your ear, helping to block out that excess noise.

Easy to clean. A bit heavy, but it hasn’t been a problem at all. I love the length! I am rather tall at 5’7″. With the longer length, it’s nice not to have to bend down right into my patients personal space to do my assessment.

We wear black scrubs at my Hospital- the black glitter gives my look such a cute pop of sparkle!.

4th year med student here. Bought this as a 1st year because of the warranty. For auscultation this is a great scope. It does what it is supposed to. However, I lost the bell somewhere on the wards because it does not lock it merely screws on (hopefully covered under part replacement but haven’t looked into it).

Secondly, I will not be using this scope for residency simply because its HEAVY :\ its hard to describe how the weight will feel around your neck or in your pocket till you use it. MDF describing the weight in kg should’ve been a redflag.

The conversion so y’all know is *roughly* 7. 9oz. Just keep in mind that’s more than the competitions and choose accordingly, I wish I did. I’d take two stars off , but theoretically I can get a new bell_—_.

I bought the book due to the fact that my husband has a really bad family history due to heart disease and stroke. We needed the extra input of what to do with this family disease. Unfortunately, he recently had to have a pacemaker, but seems to be fine otherwise.

Your book mentioned bracardia and what it was. This helped in our diagnosis, and was the eventual outcome. Now that we are both in our 60’s, the book is educational in what we can do to help alleviate some of the problems associated with heart disease.

We find the book easy to read and educational. Thank you.

This should be required reading in Health Classes…if we still had those. Children can’t control what they eat. Read this and learn how to feed them for a long, healthy life!

Great information for living a healthy life or getting to a healthy life. It all begins with what you put in your mouth. Most Americans lack the correct basic information for keeping themselves in a state of good health.

Kudos for doctors like Joel Fuhrman who lays it all out for us.

I am enjoying this book so much. Dr. Fuhrman explains the physiological reasons for his recommendations. I am learning things that make sense & I feel I should have known as a nurse, but I had not put it all together.

There is also a great amount of new information that gives hope for improved health so I am excited about it. I think everyone should read it!.

This is the most up-to-date, comprehensive, interesting, informative, and thought-provoking books on heart disease and health in general that I’ve ever read. The content is research-based on very large, reputable scientific studies, but Dr.

Fuhrman manages to communicate to every level of reader from layperson to medical professional. There is so much information in it that readers should keep posted notes on hand to mark areas of interest so that the reader can quickly reference the subject material later.

Dr. Ornish is the first doctor to show that heart disease can be reversed. He also points out basically that Americans die of degenerative diseases heart disease and stroke, prostate, breast, and colon cancer the big three and a host of other diseases such as multiple sclerosis, pancreatic cancer, rheumatoid arthritis.

He includes a large number of vegetarian recipes. It is the way to go if you want to die of old age. Seems less radical than sawing one’s chest open.

Book has a lot of info in what causes heart disease how to prevent & even reverse it. Mostly I like the recipes Dr. Ornish included. They were very helpful in helping to get started on eating the right foods.

Very educational book. Still working my way through it and putting it into practice.

My weight loss was at a standstill and instead of sacrificing foods I enjoyed eating, I used the South Beach book to highlight foods I love as a frame of reference to shop for groceries and without any “cheat” foods I was able to find a tremendous source of foods on the list that didn’t stray AT ALL from my normal shopping habits.

In the end I was able to breach the barriers of my weight loss and completed my goals of a whopping 35 pounds! I am SO loving the comments and personal satisfaction of finally being able to reach my fantasy clothing dreams! I’m finally in a size 10!!!.

Believing high glycemic foods are bad for you, this diet book leaves out most pastas, white flour bread, potatoes, and rich desserts. Rather one is to eat lean meat, eggs, and salads. As a non-pill approach to a healthier heart, this is a lifelong diet.

The doctor includes the rationale for this diet, patient testimonials, and acceptable recipes for each of the 3 phases. Not as extreme as some fad diets, this one is researched, reputable, and has been around for quite awhile.

This paperback book is readable and recommended.

This if the fifth time I purchase this same book. My husband and I heard of it years ago and tried it. He had very high cholesterol and did not want to do pills to lower it. We both went on this diet and it is so helpful, simple and perfect not only did we both drop pounds but his cholesterol was lower than ever in just six weeks.

Now this is our gift to every friend or family member who mentions having high cholesterol or simply need to lose some weight. Our doctor has since, recommended this diet to many of his patients, along with a little red wine and excercise.

I recommend this book with my heart, even to learn how to learn healthier eating habits.

I thought and I Did. its been over 1 year ago now. and O have not felt this good in over 20 years and would never go back to the standard American diet. In 4 weeks from starting the plant based diet My weight dropped 25 lbs from 200 to 175.

I was looking for a diet to loose weight, primarily from around my stomach, this book was recommended to me as a good source of information for reducing heart disease by reducing cholesterol. I have not so far completed reading the book, but so far I have found all the information very useful, although the book is written by an American Doctor and is based on the American model of very high fat and dairy product diet of the Americans, as we so often see the very large people on our TV’s, we can learn from the information in this book how we can alter our diet for the better.

THere ar some useful recepies in the book to get us started whilst you can collect you own recepies, but if you are very serious about your health and weight loss this book I feel is a very good starting point.

If you want to eliminate cholesterol (and lose weight, if you are overweight now), the lifestyle recommended by this book is 100% guaranteed. I do not call it a diet. It is a change of lifestyle. OK, I have only been following this book’s recommendations for a month, but I think I can do it in the long term.

I have been virtually vegetarian anyway for 5 years (just ate a little fish). But now – I can tell people I eat no meat, fish, dairy, eggs, oil and hardly any nuts. They say “what do you eat”. To which the answer is “everything else”.

So far I feel great, never over full in the way I did before. Any my cholesterol which was above the normal range must be plummeting. I will know for sure in six months when it is re-tested, but I do expect my doctor to be very surprised! I have used the Firm Video series for years and when I have done their workouts 3-4 times a week, I always lost weight and saw visible results, as they promise. They are exteremly convenient as you can do the workouts in your own home at any time.

No gym required! I also love how the workouts are structured, pairing a weight bearing exercise usually followed by a cardio sequence. It really keeps your heartrate up burning more calories and gives you a cardio workout for your heart while strengthening your muscles at the same time.

I needed to purchase this DVD version of the 3 pack Firm series because the age of VMS is over and I want to start building my workout DVD collection. I have no dislikes about these DVD’s; all 3 are awesome! I recommend these Firm DVD’s to anyone that asks!.

This workout is great if you need to target your thighs. It is no substitute for cardio like bikeriding, jogging, hiking. etc. But if you need to build up your endurance so that you can start one of those programs it is great.

Or, if you need an indoor workout because you’re in between true cardio (due to weather ot time) it’s a great filler.

The Firm videos. really any of them really do the job. I don’t always like the workouts, usually don’t love the music, but the box says guaranteed visible results in 10 workouts or less, and it’s true, I see results after doing their videos once or twice.

they are the leaders in cross training with weights from way back when everyone else was just doing aerobics. They are always on the cutting edge, and the workouts are excellent. they also have others in the video doing multi-level workouts, so you can start in whatever shape you are in, from beginner to advanced.

Brilliant book, something that actually works. I read the whole book first, bought all that I needed for week one, then started the plan. (12th June 2018) The smoothies are great and are very filling, I can feel a difference already.

I have more energy and have slept so much better. If you do what the book tells you to do you will be amazed. No Cheating! If you want to feel good, look good then this is the book for you. I Very Highly recommend it to all.

I loved the concept of a ‘body reset’ to speed up my slow metabolism to get healthier and lose some weight. The book was easy to read and made lots of sense so I jumped in enthusiastically for the 15 day reset and ongoing lifestyle change.

The smoothies are easy to make, tasty, and I didn’t feel at all hungry. I walked 10,000 or more steps per day, stuck to the 15 day kickstart religiously and lost a meagre amount of weight. It’s suggested in the book that you could lose 3-6 kilos or maybe more in the initial reset period, however, I lost just 1.

5 kg!! I felt great and still do but it didn’t work for me weight-loss wise. Saying that though I’d recommend the book as it’s easy to follow and you do feel really good with healthy fresh food in your system, whilst walking 10,000 steps each day! And its always better to lose a couple of kilos than put them on – plus you may be luckier than me!!.

I check my weight on the 3 day. I was down 3 pounds. Then I forgot about how much weight i was losing. I am sleeping three times better. I have been waiting on the moment that I sleep like a baby. Thank.
