This is a good book for beginning artists. Edwards is a competent and logical teacher of art. Her approach reduces fear factors and confusion about color giving you tools for your own mode of working.

You are not limited to any medium, either. Though she lists acrylics and oils for the media, I use water color pigments and had no problems with the exercises she gives in the book. However, do not expect some kind of “miracle”, but you may find “aha!” experiences taking place that will give positive reinforcement to your endeavors.

Following the book, step by step, with patience and attention will produce positive results.

I have been painting off and on for over 30 years. I bought this book because it was required reading for a Color Theory watercolor class. It’s an excellent resource for learning all about the importance of color in painting.

I learned more from this book than I had from many years of experience. I’m sure I will refer back to it many times. I highly recommend it for anyone interested in learning more about color and how to use it in decorating projects, crafts, painting, etc.

A Wonderful book packed with useful information and paintings. Read it cover to cover and couldn’t put it down. Carol Marine explains her still life setup complete with photographs of her lighted box and tells us what type of lights and exactly how to make our own and where to get the stuff.

A delightful book for the ‘daily painter. ‘ There is lots of information about online auctions and what to expect. She also includes paintings by others which are wonderful too. It’s a light easy to read (humorous)book packed with useful information for a painter contemplating the ‘daily painter’ route.

I really enjoyed this book, especially all the many useful tips and information it provided. From the very beginning I found it motivating and loved all the examples and photographs, including the simple but important suggestions.

Having spent many months in a hole without painting ideas, inspiration and drive, I have found this book encouraging a tiny painting each day to be wonderful advice and has started me back into painting again, without that pressure of feeling that a complete work has to be achieved.

Just the ticket for all of us who experience those times where motivation/inspiration deserts us. Very easy to read.

This book is a useful way to get back into thinking artistically. I find some of the suggestions excellent but others just not my thing. So, if you pick and choose, its good. I haven’t finished it yet so maybe it will improve.

Interesting, motivational, may even be life changing. Not sure whether that’ll apply to everyone who reads Julia Cameron’s book. I’m happily arty and creative, possibly that colours my positive response and joy to her suggestions.

Take the daily pages, she has a way of explaining that I found so encouraging that I actually started doing them – with immediate benefits.

Drawing Lab for Mixed-media artists is a great book to get you reinvigorated for art. That being said, it is a book. It’s only going to give you as much as you’re willing to put in. If you plan to give up at the first road block, this is not the book for you.

If you really want to commit to the suggested exercises (many of which meaning drawing in public) you’ll love this book! The ‘recommended’ materials list is blissfully small on the page and like Sonheim says, if you don’t have it, improvise.

Listen to her words of advice and more than that ‘just do it’ use this book as a springboard to being the artist you always wanted to and put your fears aside.

This book lived up to my expectations I bought it to use as an inspirational tool. Sometimes you need silly things to make up things and this book has some really cute silly little drawings that actually motivate you into real paintings I love it I think it’s awesome.

I bought this set primarily for the brushes and the paints. But there is much more to this set, which I did not even notice at the time. In addition to the sturdy, finished wood carrying case, there is a sketching pencil, eraser, and pencil sharpener.

There is a palette knife; although it is plastic. There is a small plastic palette and two small boards and a small guide for beginniners. Linseed oil is also included. The only item missing would be some turpenoid, which I bought later on.

But if you have someone, a teenager or adult, who is painting in acrylics, this would be a great introductory set to oils. I had been looking at this set for a couple of years and bought it now because it was on sale at an irresistible price.

But even at full price, I think this is a wonderful set.

I bought this set to paint some small clay models. It+rsquo;s great, good range of brushes and enough colours to get me started. Nicely presented in a silver box. Quickly working through the black and white paints – but it is easy to buy additional tubes.

Great value starter set.

This is definitely a beginner’s set. The quality of the products is pretty low, but still workable. Not very durable pencils require a delicate touch. Good pencil sharpener though the pencils don’t sharpen so well with it and the graphite breaks easily.

The wooden model is entirely way too tightly constructed to do much in posing with and doesn’t set up without more effort than should be required. The paper included is decent but a small pad of paper.

Don’t expect miracles with this set. Not sure it’s quite worth the purchase cost. You might be better off buying everything individually than in a set like this. For a fun gift, this might be okay. Just warn whomever you buy it for that it’s not superior quality.

This book covers most areas so that a young artist who is not sure of which medium to use can see what is possible. The preamble about tools of the trade is helpful and needed; because you need to use the right pencil, for instance, to get the effect you want.

I bought this for my grand daughter, who has had to give up art at school, to accommodate other subjects but still loves to draw and paint. She is pleased with it and though she feels some of the project are a little ambitious for her is prepared to try them.

Big hardcover book, lovely presentation. Very informative, beautiful pictures, step by step guides on many different subjects from face portraits to still life & landscapes – everything. Shows how to use many different mediums from charcoal to graphite, coloured pencil, pastels ect.

A must have book for any drawing artist from beginners to more experienced wanting to improve their skills & technique. Love this book!! Worth every cent. Highly recommend. The Painting Techniques version is just as good!! You won’t be disappointed with this book!.

Excellent step by step instructions and illustrations. Suited to someone who draws for a hobby as it’s fairly advanced.

The writing is clear, humorous, entertaining, and enlightening all at the same time. This book puts in words what so many of us who desire, and in fact do, create feel but are not always able to put into words ourselves.

It gives permission to be creative and build on art and creativity that came before us. Wonderful book, a must have for the creative soul to have and be able to read and reread over and over. Inspiring!!!!.

If you want to create something but feel stuck, you dont need to waste time. These books get straight to the point. They are small, quick reads that you can come back to again and again.

I expected some real substance with this book. It seems like a lot of waffle really. I couldn’t so I thought they were that many great tips in it all

When I ordered this book, I was given a time line. I was amazed that the book arrived three days earlier. Great work Booktopia Team. I’m loving my drawing for beginners book.

The lesions in the book were disappointing in that they were far more advanced than the title implied. I bought this book for a middle grade student because the It he title states it is a beginner’s level,.

But the instructions and lessons seemed difficult, even for an adult. This is one of those times when buying in person would have been better. Or perhaps, the ad should have show a couple of pages from the inside of the book ths demonstrate the “beginner’s level” they are talking about.

It seemed rather advanced to me!.

I feel this is a good book for the beginner in that it shows some good basic procedures. Then it takes a leap into areas that may lead some beginners shaking their heads. Is it a good value? It depends on the price.

Recommended book for all those who need to draw facial expressions, great selection of models of different ethnicities and ages. Great ideas for creating your own characters.

The Facial Expression Book is one I would recommend to any one that wanted to learn or expand their art. It is very detailed and easy to relate the human face.

Awesome Art Kit!!!! I brought two of these for my Daughter and I, instead of sharing one. I can honestly say I love everything about this set, and it is sturdy, all you have to do is tighten the bolts; to hold the canvas and for your comfort.

The paint and brushes are great, and it even comes with an pallette. It is so soothing and a great way to spend an afternoon, my Daughter painted three canvases in a day.

Received by mail in great condition. Was packaged very good. Purchased for a gift for my 15byear old granddaughter, however it looks very nice. I think she will love it.

My sister in law was always an acrylic painter and did beautiful paintings. She was always a little intimidated by oil paints but really wanted to start to paint with them. A great book, my nephew really likes it. It basically covers all aspects with tips and instruction. This is very comprehensive to aid all ages to either learn or hone their skills. I recommend this book to everyone who is creative and wants to improve.

Clear and concise instructions for the beginner and more advanced

I like to draw and do creative projects and if you are a creative person, then you know that you can be hit with the creative “itch” but you might not have a project in mind. Well 365 Days of Art scratches that itch.

The book allows you to be creative everyday. So whether you have or don’t have a project, this keeps you disciplined to spend a little time everyday doing what you love! I think this is a fantastic concept! The size of the book is good.

It’s not big and awkward so it can be transported anywhere and comfortable to work in.

it holds everything I need and is easy to carry around because it has a shoulder strap as well as handles. It even has an extra pocket that’s closed off from the main pocket. It also has a zipper, and the material it is made of seems durable.

Both of those qualities help keep my artwork and supplies dry on rainy days. The Fabor Castel pencil set, india ink pens, sharpener, etc. are top notch and I will continue buying the brand over any other brand now.

Totally worth the money. Definitely get the pencil set that comes with the metal sharpener from Germany. It is the best one I’ve ever used. It doesn’t tear up any of my pencils including colored. Overall I am completely satisfied with my purchases.

I purchased this Artist Loft Portfolio measuring about 17×22 externally for carrying my art supplies to classes and workshops. The case has one main compartment about 2″ wide and a panel on each side that separates the interior into 3 sections.

It is roomy enough for carrying quarter sheets (11×15) of watercolor but not quite big enough for half sheets (15×22). This suits my needs since I have a bigger portfolio for the half sheet size paintings.

Well constructed of good material. Has an additional external pocket with velcro closures and a shoulder strap. Overall, very pleased with my purchase.

I gifted each of my 3 grandchildren with an Artist’s aloft Studio Portfolio and they loved it! They were excited to have an easy way to store their beautiful artwork. The price was very reasonable and the quality was very good.

Of course, the ultimate Marker set. They are amazing. I would make sure that you are interested in doing a very specific type of coloring. If you do a lot of detail work or something like that you may be interested in purchasing their fine liner tips that they have available but that can be kind of difficult to manage with the cost and everything.

I do a lot of really fine detailed work where I use a lot of very fine tip pens Sharpies things like that and it is a little bit more difficult to use the copics the way that they’re supposed to be used.

Maybe is this will give me a chance to Branch out and try some other styles and advancement. But overall they are beautiful they are layered they are everything I was looking for with the exception of the fine liner tip.

These allow use of very fine details in intricate drawings. My granddaughter uses to draw beautiful anime work. They are extremely expensive but helpful is they are refillable. Since my granddaughter is heavily into art investing in these was a great idea.

The gold standard. These guys are expensive, but they work so well. They blend beautifully, this particular pack doesn’t have a great range of colors to take advantage of the blending, you’ll want to pick up some lighter colors to build things up and drag the ink.

But in general these are the best you can get. Plus, they are refillable which is handy and environmentally friendly!.

Copic C1 Review Rewrite (JetPens) Copic are wonderful when they work, so just to be clear, this is a review for C1 in particular. A few tones are simply problematic. When used frequently, some stain the brush nib and dry out frequently, prompting more refills and nib changes.

Along with a few light E tones, I’ve had to repurchase C1 to make sure the issues weren’t due to ill-fitting caps. Alas, all the colors I have tightly sealed duplicates of have continued to be problematic during frequent use and completely dry out during extended breaks.

I recently came back from an extended hiatus and the exact tones I marked as problematic were dried out. That’s a pair of $7-8 markers for each of those tones, with relatively new nibs and likely filled prior to the break that were all dried out, with caked on ink prompting yet another nib change and refill in order to resume use.

Like I said before, they’re Copics, and deliver beautiful results. And to be clear, my C3, 5, 7, and 9, along with my entire 00-9 lines of Warm and Toner grays are fine. In the end, the formula needed for certain tones make them prone to issues.

You might have a different experience in a different climate, with different problematic tones or none at all, but if you live in a climate similar to Hawaii, I’d keep an eye on C1.

Copics are great for professional colorists and novices alike. Their multicolor selection blends well on most any project. The ink does not smear or bleed through heavy card stock. Although pricer than other alcohol markers, its value is head and shoulders above others.

But a Michael’s coupon can make the purchase even more worth your while.

Really an amazing alcohol marker in 358 beautiful vibrant, pastel and fluorescent colors. The colors and brush pen glide evenly across smooth art paper like Bristol Board or Copic Xpress Blend-it paper.

Copic Sketch, Ciao & Classic Markers are forever pens because you can refill alcohol ink in the markers with Various Ink and replace the brush nib, bullet nib, and chisel nib. Since they’re alcohol markers they blend well together esp.

if you use the 2 point rule (ex. use colors 2, 4 ,& 6 or 95, 97, 99) & 10+2 or 12 point rule (ex. use colors like 0, 12, & 24). Learning how to blend use the blending trio sets. Copic Markers are available in Joanns Store and Online.
