Horrible book vague boing not based on our true facts here monuments speak for them selves as well as the technology left by kings down to our current presidents bushes and trumps. This and world has been influenced the whole time with high end extraterrestrials live here with us we are them with less abilitys do to a field here they he knows that.

Our brain are off cause of atmosphere and grid of volcanoes keeps earth at around 8 hz. As well we are missing some dna to heal to talk telepathically. This writer knows we been visited thousands of times and influences in our politics and more.

Im 1/3 of the way through this read, which has been great so far. Familiar with the movie Contact and if I find a movie is good, I generally have a pattern of reading the book from which the film was adapted.

Blends well with my current hobby of locating the planets within our solar system with my telescope and of course the star Vega (from which the Message comes from in the novel) with just the naked eye.

Makes you wonder – is there anybody out there ?.

One of the best books I have read in a long time. The book follows the contact with an extraterrestrial species. However, not only the contact but in fine detail Sagan goes into the international Social, Political and Religious problems the proposed contact with extraterrestrial life would pose to individual nations.

From eschatological doctrines to UFO fanatics, the book tackles many subjects in a means to understand and close the gap between science (Physics in particular) and other bodies of knowledge such as government and military entities.

I had this book many years ago which wasnt as attractive as this one is. I am really looking forward to reading this. It is a more up to date version than the original one that I had and also the photographs are a bonus extra.

The book is in perfect condition and it arrived exactly on time. Would I recommend it. definately.

The book is informative and poetic, offering a clear eyed view of our collective history while also suggesting the expansive possibilities of our future. A must for all who have read Ann Druyan’s collaborations with Carl Sagan, the Cosmos TV programs and any who appreciate the value of scientific thinking.

Chock full of beautiful photographic and diagrammatic support materials. Both copies of the book arrived quickly and in perfect condition.

A great sequel to her husband’s legacy and cosmic partner, Dr. Carl Sagan. The content is not just rooted in science but induces a transcendance of the human consciousness to consider the human condition in the grand cosmos.

Impressive work. Just be sure to read the book BEFORE watching the tv version, because they are basically the same.

Sagan was an amazing science communicator and this book is fabulous. As with many science books they date as we learn more but that does not take away anything from this title. The Blue Dot soliloquy in chapter one is just a stunning bit of writing and can be heard in Sagans own voice on the net.

really sums up our position in the universe and the insanity of human belief of self importance! If you only read that chapter, it is worth every penny!.

Bought this book for my husband (he only ever reads non fiction), and he found it incredibly interesting and says more people should read it as it explains so much about our world, and our place beyond.

A compelling read about humankind’s future in space as envisioned by one of the most inspiring scientists of our time.

This is my fourth copy of Cosmos. Of the other three copies I’ve owned over the years, two were borrowed (never to be returned) and my original copy (that I got on my 15th birthday from my mom) was a gift to my son (on his 15th birthday).

This paperback edition I just purchased will stay with me forever, provided it don’t get “borrowed”. I recommend this book to every literate person on earth. Even IF you never read anything else by Dr.

Sagan (I’ve read quite a bit and its all very interesting) and even if you don’t agree with everything in the book (I don’t) I believe the reader will have a much better understanding of the universe and our place in it.

Cosmos is truly a literary masterpiece and one of the great books of our time.

Takes me back to my youth in the 80s. I watched the series on a 13 inch black and white TV. Great seeing it in color. I had just got out of the US Navy and starting college. Had my TV hooked up to my 300 watt per channel AWAI stero and the music of the show was fantastic.

Cosmos came out on PBS in 1980 and I enjoyed learning from the show. Now I can watch Cosmos on a 50 inch TV and have it hooked up to my Panisonic 200 watt per channel stero. I really like the companion book Cosmos as well.

I saw the T. V. series, “Cosmos,” when it originally aired and was awed and inspired by it. Years later, I bought the book based on the T. V. series and once again found it compelling. Because of his interest in this area, I recently ordered the book and sent it to my 12-year-old grandson.

He is thrilled with it! It says something when a book has staying power for over 50 years and is enjoyed by those from 12 to 75.

Well done NTSC DVD set! I also have the PAL DVD and VHS boxed set. Not sure why I bought the VHS boxing set both at the same time I purchased this NTSC DVD set, since VHS tapes are the antiquated gold standard in obsolete communication technologies.

I guess, because of this, there are just some things in this universe that can’t be explained. Be warned though, if you want to watch all thirteen episodes non stop, back to back, it will take approximately thirteen hours in real time, since all thirteen episodes are roughly one hour in length when belched back at the speed necessary to play back a one hour episode in a sixty minute time frame for best audio and picture quality.

In other words kids, don’t try cutting corners when viewing Cosmos by fast forwarding the DVDees to the end and then rewinding it back to the start, because the audio and picture quality just isn’t there.

I KNOW THIS because I TRIED THAT, and didn’t learn anything that I didn’t know before. Cosmos really makes me think hard about how we, the Earth, ever came into and continue to exist when completely surrounded by such a powerful, unforgiving, hostile environment that can pulverize us into nothingness when deadly gravitational load crush pressures, beyond that of human Sasquatch comprehension, can get out of hand.

This came in excellent condition and great packaging. I was inspired to see this as I’d heard of it, but missed it when it came out so many years ago. “The Pale Blue Dot” clip on YouTube was very inspiring, and this series adds even more.

This is absolutely worth watching over and over again. Not exactly the meaning of life, but very much about our place in the universe, as best we can tell. Sagan was a master of explanation.

Such an excellent thought provoking series, Carl Sagans insights and explorations are grounding as well as educational. It doesnt matter that this series was created with older cinamatic technology, its content more than makes up for its lo-res video.

If you have the book, even better. You may even find the soundtrack on vinyl occasionally on ebay. Recommended.

Hysterical book, especially the part that is stream of consciousness from a dog. Typically wacky and interesting characters pulling insane and lol Florida antics. Good, fun read.

This is classic Hiaasen, a well-written story with outrageous characters, including a 125 pound Labrador that helps the hero save the day from another attempt by corrupt politicians and devious developers in Florida.

The book itself was in very good condition and a real bargain.

I can’t express enough admiration for these series. The illustrations are on point. So expressive and entertaining. The dialogue is raucous and hilarious and at the same time deeply moving. Highly, highly recommended!!!.

The first panel of this comic really sets the tone for the rest of it. It is realistic (as far as a sci-fi/fantasy comic can be) and doesn’t hold back. It explores some really serious issues – war, relationships, sexism, hatred, conflicts, genocide, bringing up a child.

I really loved this comic and it’s one of the ones I use to get my non-comic friends into the fold.

What a ride this takes you on! I am so keep to pick up volume 2 and continue the story. The art in this book is interesting… and good

I love the book! Wish there was book 9 because I’ll definitely buy the book. I really enjoyed the book! It did take 3 weeks to come here but understandable since bad weather and covid.

We love anything Carl Hiaasen writes. His children’s books are just as funny as the adult books. All the twists and turns and outlandish characters made for a good read.

I recommend Circe by Madeline Miller to anyone who wishes to plunge into the tales of Greek Mythology. It will introduce you to the story of gods and goddesses, wars and warriors. Just like her former novel “The Song of Achilles” it is a modern retelling of an age old story, and it introduces the characters as if for the first time, making it easier for total beginners.

Unlike her first novel, that was equally good, I felt Circe had a more gripping hold, that would make it impossible to put the books down. The story as told by Circe, a goddess and witch, offered views of laws and prophecies, exiles and verdicts, from a female gaze.

Rather than depicting heroes and gods of the past flawless, Miller has made sure to limn the various characters with their flaws and mistakes, that lends the whole tale a tincture of reality. I loved every chapter and page of the book and the language employed in it, that traversed me through a world reigned by Gods and Heroes, teeming with love and passion, just as much as corruption, betrayal and arrogance.

“Witches are not so delicate,” I said. Circe is hands-down one of the best books I have ever read. I instantly fell in love with the story and characters and Madeline Miller’s distinctive prosaic style of writing (which makes this book easily quotable).

Circe is a story of a lesser god outshone by those around her. After discovering witchcraft she uses her new-found powers to turn her old lover’s wife into a monster. Threatened by these powers, Zeus orders Circe to be banished to the island Aiaia for eternity.

First and foremost, it is a story of one woman’s life and her journey through love, motherhood, pain and desire. There was also a sort of satisfactory feeling when Circe , who has been overlooked and belittled her whole life, finally gets some vengeance.

I cannot express in words how good it was. All I can say is READ IT. Especially if you love mythology. 5/5 stars.

This novel was absolutely beautiful. As a Madeline Miller fan from the Song of Achilles days, I had high expectations for this book, which were absolutely met! You are dragged along with Circe to experience her world and her life; all the good, bad, and ugly that entails.

The emotion in this story is so real, and can make it difficult to read at times, especially when feeling alongside her, the graphic nature of the violence that is committed against our MC. (Content warning for people with a history of sexual assault, please be aware that this book does have a scene later in the novel that portrays an assault quite accurately, and can be distressing to read).

The tragic tale of Circe that has been reimagined by Miller is absolutely another hit, I can’t wait to reread this after all my friends have borrowed it.

Carl Sagan’s television series and book COSMOS opened up a whole new world for me. It is easily the most influential writing on my current world view. Sagan waxes both prosaic and poetic in his discription of how we have come to know our place in the universe.

I owe him a debt of gratitude for opening up my eyes. Be warned though – once you have read this you can never go back. You will be forever changed.

I haven’t read all the way through it just yet, but what Ive read is fantastic. It’s a great read if you love reality checks of how and why and the vastness of everything. I suggest reading it at least once if not more.

“There is only one evil, ignorance and there is only one good, knowledge.” The cosmos is full of facts and mystery but is without one drop of magic.

Most of the time, brilliant scientists and mathematicians write books for others of their ilk. Once in a great while, one of the “greats” writes a clear and thorough book for the rest of us. Carl Sagan was one of those.

Through use of events in his own life, starting in childhood, Sagan gives step by step explanation of how wishful thinking, manipulation of the gullible, and outright fraud control the thinking of more and more people in this country.

He shows how ignorance and muddled reasoning have almost become badges of honor in the public at large, making many susceptible to pseudoscientific charlatans and the claims of con-men preying on those given to magical-thinking and those just unaware of actual science.

What is most disturbing is that he wrote this about thirty years ago and it is more true today. What he described as a candle in the dark has now become a candle in a windstorm. The mantle of reason laid down by Carl in 1996 has been picked up by Neil deGrasse Tyson, but the Tsunami of misinformation has grown much stronger in the last 2 decades that this book sounds more like prophecy come true than an introduction to clear thinking.

Sagan did forecast the present environment of Trumpist pseudopolitics and the dumbing down of citizens to disbelieve science and truth, he also forecast the de-industrialization of North America and this was written 25 years ago.

Fascinating reading.

In his last book before his death, Sagan predicted the terrifying slide into ignorance, superstition, and xenophobia that our country now finds itself in.

Timothy Zahn is one of my favorite authors and this book lives up to the standards I have for him. When I found out he was making a backstory for Thrawn I was giddy with excitement. I’ve preordered the next book and I can’t wait until I finally get my hands on it! #Sweepstakes.

Bought this for my dad for Christmas, he was really wanting more information on Thrawn so this was perfect. He loved the book!
