20 Best Carousel Cd Player (2022 Updated)

I have owned one of these excellent CD players for a few years now and decided rather than buy a new singled disc player I would get this one. Just like the one I have owned for years, this new Onkyo works superbly.

It fits well in the new TV/Entertainment stand I also just bought from BB. It was easy to hook up and fill with discs and hit “RANDOM” and settle back with an icy cold “non-adult beverage”! It also looks great! I cannot hear any difference unless a piece of equipment is so poorly made or defective and this Onkyo is not that.

It is well made and relatively “heafty”. I have a Sony 300 Disc player for about 10 years now and it too works great but when I get new CDs or just want to hear a favorite right away, this changer is my go to workhorse.

Highly recommended? Yup! How can anything built with such quality be anything but highly recommended? No complaints here! Trust me. I know what I’m doin’ when I’m reviewin’.

Right out of the box, this is an outstanding CD changer. I bought an Onkyo 5-CD changer (DX-C200 with Remote) in 1989 and it lasted 33 (!) years with constant play, all day, every day. The CD motor finally quit spinning.

I may have it refurbished. That unit back in 1989 cost me $350, so to have this new unit at the same price is a value! This new 6-disc CD changer is a game-changer. There is nothing comparable on the market.

It does have a large footprint, but it accommodates 6 discs! I have a healthy skepticism about modern manufacturing and circuitry compared with that of old. We’ll see how long it lasts, but connected to my vintage 1972 Marantz amp, it sounds crisp, clear, clean.

No worries thus far.

With the ease-of-use that comes along with streaming music, most people have forgotten thet CDs, tapes, and vinyl are still alive and sound way better. Smart speakers are nice, but nothing beats a good stereo, and there’s something about selecting what album you want to listen to and firing it up that makes the experience more special.

Having said that, and stepping off the soap box, we bought this CD changer because we listen to our rather large CD collection and wanted something to replace our aging single-disc Technics player. I had some doubts at first, but this Onkyo works very well and sounds terrific.

It’s proof that you can find a good-sounding CD changer without paying through the nose for it. Honestly, there’s nothing bad to say about it.

I have never been happier with an audio component! Never a twinge of buyer’s remorse. The sound is rich and crisp, thanks to a high end DAC and precision transport system. The controls are intuitive with great positive feel.

Possibly the nicest remote control ever made. I see a few reviews around the net, concerning occasional skipping issues. Some owners write lengthy diatribes on complex and expensive isolation techniques.

Ignore the fools! Stack your heavy receiver on top of your CD player, JUST LIKE YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO!! Place both on a heavy stable credenza, sideboard, vintage audio rack, Mission Oak table, etc. You will enjoy a skip free CD player and audio quality equal to an $800-$1000 component.

The Onkyo features a deluxe display, digital out(for DAC equipped receivers), headphone jack with volume knob, and selectable repeat function. Its sister, Pioneer badged, CD player lacks those deluxe features, and only offers analog out.

Pray that Onkyo makes more of these impeccable and affordable CD players. In the meantime, snap up the Pioneer PD10AE before they are all gone. Identical quality without some bells and whistles.

I recently bought a McIntosh MA252 Tube/Hybrid because I loved the sound and 160 watts/4ohm nominal was more than enough to drive my speakers (KEF LS50 Metas). However, the MA252 has only 4 total inputs including a MM phono and balanced–this leaves only 2 RCA/unbalanced inputs and no streaming or digital inputs.

Not to worry the ND8006 has optical, Bluetooth and WiFi connections too. Used one of the inputs on the MA252 and had a complete set-up. Used the other unbalanced for a NAD Tuner, and the Phono for my Planar 8 TT (with an Ortofon ST-6 step up transformer for the Moving Coil Ania MC cartridge).

Because of the versatility of the ND8006 I still have the balanced input for future growth. An amazing combination. However, in order to maximize the utility of this unit, spend time reading the full manual as well as familiarizing yourself with the various options.

Well worth the $1,500 price point, this unit also has the guts of the $800 CD8007 built inside so CDs sound beautiful especially though the analog tube preamp of the MA252. Buy an amplifier/intergrated with fewer inputs and buy this unit as a compliment to same.

Add a turntable and you have the entire music universe at your fingertips. Another A + effort from the folks at Marantz.

The Marantz ND8006 is a 4 plus Star in terms of the actual unit. It is solid, looks great, and from a feature-set perspective it was exactly what I was looking for. A good quality CD transport with network/streaming capabilities.

I wasn’t interested in having a unit that rips CDs (more effectively accomplished on a PC) and this unit is one of the few out there that accomplish the necessary tasks at a mid price range. However the HEOS streaming software from Marantz/Denon is a ONE STAR and probably less than that.

In order to stream TIDAL for increased bandwidth you have to go through HEOS. And HEOS sucks. The software is buggy and worse, the ability to easily shuffle and simply play tracks off of an album or from an artist is nearly impossible.

There are a lot of complaints about HEOS that I hadn’t read prior to purchasing this unit. While I think I would have purchased the Marantz anyway, it gives me real pause. It seems that Marantz/Denon has been pretty unresponsive in terms of providing needed updates to their software.

Not surprising really. They are an old school audio manufacturer. not a technology company.

I bought this unit to replace a Marantz CD 6005 player. After some shopping errors (a TEAC P650CD player that produced a harsh, metallic sound), I considered the Marantz CD6006 (a good player from what I read) and the ND8006.

But given the ability to stream music from multiple sources through the high end DAC in the ND8006, in addition to an excellent CD player, this magic box seemed to do it all in one unit. – What shall I say ? Setting it up was super easy (the instructions were easy to follow, even for non engineers), and the sound from any source I tested was outstanding.

Especially from the CD player, a transparent, detail-rich and warm sound (Marantz sound) that lets me enjoy my classic CD collection again. The wireless streaming from mobile Apple devices may not be at par with a CD, but still very good and super convenient.

I have not tried hard-wiring the ND8006 with the router yet, but chances are this will improve the streaming quality. Overall, given the quality of the CD player in this unit and the additional network capabilities, the price of the magic box is ok.

I would absolutely recommend this CD/Network player (esp if you have already a Marantz amplifier ).

All function work properly tracking is fast and precise no skipping but all my CDs are atleast good shape. ‘ But later on if the Audiophile bug ever bites you and you want to up the total sound performace you can easily Use the 600ne as a Digital transport and run the digital signal Toslink out to an outboard dac I have had 3 ‘budget’ outboard dacs used with with the 600ne 1st.

Schiit Modius 2nd Aune X8 majic dac. 3rd Soncoz laq1dx dac and with any of those 3 dacs, the combo will compete with New entry level players up $1k U. S + ‘with Redbook CD playback’. (Dacs used N this price range from around $200-320U.

Having researched the product online and deciding which unit to buy, I just happened to be passing a Richer Sounds shop so popped in to complete my research. The saleman was very helpful and confirmed my choice so I opted to buy straight away.

That the price was even better than I had already discovered was an added bonus. The unit was delivered to my home at no extra cost and at the time and date expected. Now that I have set up and used the CD player I am very pleased with the result.

The sound quality is much richer than the 25 year old Sony unit it replaced: the high notes are much brighter and the lower notes more rounded. Obviously technology has moved on but I was not expecting to hear such a big difference.

On a personal note I would prefer more contol at the front panel rather than only on the remote handset but it’s a small issue I will get used to. Highly recommended.

After lots of research I decided to purchase this amp as I like the look of it and its features as I had set myself a budget. I’m not disappointed. Bought online as part of a bundle with the equivalent cd player and Qacoustics 3020i speakers.

I am really impressed with the sound quality and listening to my cd collection has been a joy. If you are not able to spend a fortune but want a quality system I recommend this and Richer sounds. One downside however would be the lack of any interconnects.

This was not apparent on the website when I bought the system and only when delivered did the lack of an interconnect come to light as it is written on the box. After a phone call to Richer sounds this was rectified by the very helpful staff who ensured I received a quality connector next day.

Richer sounds please make it clear for non audiophiles like myself that cables etc need to be purchased separately (hence, only 4 stars, sorry). Thanks again Richer sounds.

Recently purchased Cambridge Audio package from Richer Sounds which included AXA35 amp, AXC35 CD player and Wharfdale Dimond 220 speakers. Quality of amp and CD player is very good. It feels solid unlike some other makes and looks unfussy.

Controls are what you would expect, nothing fancy just practical. Wiring speakers to the amp was no problem, just remember to remove the dust caps from the banana sockets. At 35 watts per channel, its not going to break any records or unduly annoy the neighbours.

Paired with the Wharfdale Dimond 220 speakers the clarity of sound is hard to fault. It does however suffer, in my opinion, from a lack of bass especially when at low volume. May be that’s just me? If you’re after a budget entry unit I couldn’t recommend this highly enough.

I recently bought a Cambridge Audio amp to replace an aged Technics amp that I’d thought was well past its best. I was so pleased with it that I couldn’t wait to upgrade my stop gap Denon CD player. I like my HiFi to match.

Both items look cool and understated by together they sound amazing. I’m no audiophile but I know that when I play a favourite album and I hear things I never knew were there. On all accounts this is a five star recommendation.

The only minor gripe is that the remote controls for both only work with their associated unit. I might be missing something but I can’t get the amp with all the CD buttons to work on the CD player. FOR: Looks, sound, value.

AGAINST: Remotes not interchangeable.

I like the Cambridge CXC transport, I like the CD Text, I like the sound quality, I like the look of the player matching the CX gear. But there is no question that some Cambridge CD players, I’ve had a second CXC and an Azur 850CD and all have been reluctant to play some CDs.

Not very many, but I do have a few new repectable and clean CDs which the transort fails to load. It used to show up as a Disc Error but with this newer software the drawer just opens for you to remove the disc.

The vast majority of my discs do play nicely and for that reason I wont change or do anything. Ironically non playing discs can be ripped into Apple’s Music/iTunes, and burnt to a CD-R when they then play very well.

Secondly the very nice remote control that ships with the CXC is a CX System wide remote, with few buttons functioning for the CXC (12). Cambridge will sell you an Azur (RC-851A/C) Control which brings more buttons, (23) including Numeric Track Selection, which some might find useful – I do.

So a cautious recommendation.

If you think a transport has no effect on the sound (bits are bits right?) then think again. I had ordered the Audiolab 6000CDT and it has a big, full boned sound through my Yamaha receiver DAC. Unfortunately it’s slot load CD drive and it scratched the discs as it loaded, so I returned it and bought the CXC.

As a draw loader the scratch problem went away. But run through the same Yamaha receiver DAC – wow, subtle differences emerged. The Audiolab had a more bold and cohesive soundstage, but the CXC projected a much finer sense of space and air around instruments and overall a more unforced and detailed presentation.

Neither is bad, they both have their strengths, but I prefer the CXC ‘sound’. It goes to prove that how you extract the digital data from a disc is just as important as crunching the numbers through your DAC.

Recommended.

I know I’m a dinosaur, but I still love CDs! The experience of physically owning the disc and sleeve, and great sound quality, without the faff of vinyl or the vagaries of streaming services & ISPs. CXC simply delivers gorgeous clarity and detail to my Cambridge Audio CXA61 amp and DALI Opticon 1 Mk 2 speakers to turn into beautiful music.

I have found a couple of particular CDs (out of 100’s) will not play, even though quite new and mint, and playable on a cheap player. Odd. I even bought the disc again, but won’t play, so it is some kind of manufacturing anomaly.

However, it’s nowhere near as big a problem as some people make out. And I can certainly live without Queen Greatest Hits Vol 2! Of course, bear in mind that by design it will only play conventional CDs and not play CDRs, SACDs etc.

CXC is a lovely piece of kit – looks good, rock solid build, delivers marvellous sound.

Works pretty good. Fairly easy to figure out. Runs a bit slower than my old Sony CD player that eventually bit the dust after 20 years of use. I use it to play my music during my magic show at my business at the Magic Fun House Castle.

I hope this CD player holds up at least as long as my old one. Had a few issues with what appeared to be a spot of grease get on a few of my CDs somehow. Figured it came from the internal mechanisms factory grease that didn’t get cleaned off during assembly.

Hope that doesn’t happen anymore. But I love it so far and I like having the six disc CD changer instead of my old five. Thanks for the speedy delivery to the store after I ordered it. *<{;-}>.

Just bought this to replace my Sony 5 disc player and it’s so much better. Very smooth and incredible sound. I bought it mainly because it will play CD’s that I burned years ago and have been sitting in the closet for many years.

Computers these days don’t have burners any more. So far so good. Hope it lasts for many years. A bit pricey but worth every penny. One purchaser complained about the bright green light. I like it but if you don’t just touch the dimmer button and it will go out.

This item is a replacement of the same model I have been using for the last 10-12 years. It functions perfectly as the previous one.

It’s simple to use and the remote control allows repeat/shuffle/disk select and other features. I wish the remote would also turn off the machine, which must be done manually. but it’s not a big deal when you have 5 disks that will play where the machine can run unattended for a long time before you have to think about turning it off.

I had one of this model new about 4 years ago that began to halt in play for a few seconds, then resume playing. Cleaning the lens did not help. Since I had a good remote, I bought this used one on ebay from a guy who had bought three at auction.

It arrived not able to open or close disc drawer without some assistance from tilting it down and up, respectively. These failures on two units of relatively young age does not speak well for parts quality.

I bought this product and enjoyed its performance for a solid five days. Then the tray stopped closing correctly and the discs would not play. I gave up on it but recently had it repaired for $150. I can only hope it works again because the few times I actually used it I was impressed with its performance.

Even though the 538 is a value priced unit, the sound quality is amazing. I run it through an Outlaw Audio reciever to KEF speakers. Van Morrison has never sounded better…

We love the new hifi Stu and the team delivered. I think I am totally not their target audience at that price point (2-3k), and indeed my girlfriend dissed my underspend, but they provided great advice and I would return to them any day.

This was a replacement for an identical model I had for over 20 years, which failed. The unit is in excellent condition. No sign of wear and tear. So far this item is working fine. I have been using it a lot.

It occasionally will register only four of the five CD trays when all five discs are loaded, but when I turn it off and then back on again it has recovered and does play all the discs. Despite this problem, I am satisfied with my purchase.

I really missed not having a multi-disc CD player for many months. So this is a real treat for me to be up and running again and listening to my CD collection. Thanks.

I’ve bought over thirty of the CDP-CE275 and CDP-CE375. I also own a major audio repair company in Southern California. We fix these up and resell them. They work well and are easy to use, except for one failure.

There are five circular cut-outs in the carousel that the CDs sit in. Each cut-out is supposed to line up symmetrically under the disc clamp when the disc in question is told to play. The failure is that the cut-out won’t line up symmetrically—-it will stop slightly counterclockwise of correct alignment, as seen from the operator’s point of view.

The result is that some discs won’t be clamped correctly. When this happens, they will refuse to play. Usually, this malfunction can be repaired by replacing the little belt that turns the carousel around.

A new belt improves the timing. Unfortunately, to get to the belt, you need to remove the front panel so that you can unscrew the entire carousel assembly. The belt is under the carousel. That said. I intend to continue purchasing these because not much else goes wrong with them, and my customers are very satisfied with their performance.

Product is stellar, but no longer in production. Old unit being replaced provided enough parts to repair the new (to me) unit and restore its functionality. The technician was most impressed and waxed nostalgic about its performance.

No other CD changer unit has had as high a bang for the buck value.

I bought my Marantz SA-10 CD player a year ago to replace a failing Ayon CD-3sx, which cost me over $10,000. The Ayon was tubed, and had a luscious, rich sound, but the machine was poorly made and, in the couple of years I had it, I had to send it back for repair 3 times.

No such issue with the Marantz. At first, though, I thought it sounded a bit thinner, as it’s not a tubed player, but the more I listened to it, the more involving the music became, and making a switch, just for fits and giggles, between it and my Ayon, I found the Ayon dark, bloated, and completely unengaging.

Besides, all of my other equipment is tubed, so this gives me more than enough warmth. It also (very importantly!) reads disks that causes other machines to falter, and playing an SACD on it is skin-prickling.

All in all, a great and spectacular machine.

I just upgraded from the Marantz SA 8005 to this SA10 and the difference in performance was stunning. The Sa 8005 was performing flawlessly in my system but after Marantz introduced this new model I kept thinking maybe I should upgrade.

I tried a number of other CD players over the past two years, but none sounded as good on SACDs as my 8005. Until now, that is. The SA 10 catapulted my system into another dimension of sound. This is one smooth sounding player with smooth operation to match.

I think it has the best remote control I’ve ever seen. It’s about time one these manufacturers got that right! All the functions I need are on the remote and they are easy to find. The SA 10 sounds amazing on SACDs, of course, but what really surprised me is how good my redbook CDs sounded.

Straight from the box, with hardly any warm up, the instruments sounded so real in 3D space it was breathtaking. Top end is crystal clear and with precise detail. The bass goes deeper than I thought any CD could.

Overall its simply more musical than any other CD player I’ve owned or heard before. SACD sound has also improved. Their sound gets near to the lush sound of my ClearAudio turntable set up – and that’s saying something.

Build quality is superb and better than any piece of audio gear I’ve ever owned. This was the biggest improvement I have heard in my system so far. Don’t argue with yourself, just get this player!.

Amazing coherence,really dark silent backdrop. Rock solid sound stage deep, wide and high. Very flat and neutral, highly detailed. Great vocals. The headphone amp is excellent with my Grado RS2e mahoganies.

Brought my system to another level. Now I understand what they mean by reference audio quality. Clearly identifiable quality build throughout. There is a level of musical expression and nuance I didnt imagine existed.

I always thought how much better could my system sound? It starts at the source! Also iTunes sound amazing on this DAC. I cant wait to play some SACDs and see where that leads me.

Feature I like best is that cds can be set up in blocks of 25 cds each, 8 blocks total. You can put a different genre of music in each block and randomly play within only that block. Or if you want, play all 200 cds!.

it had me worried, it played three song and then wouldn’t load another. I turned it off and back on and it’s been working so far. it was supposed to come with a remote but didn’t.

Solves the problem of CD storage and makes finding the song or artist easy and fast. Great product, second one owned.

I bought this to play CDs, and it could hardly be better at that. I connected it using standard RCA analog audio cables, and it sounds great. It has an optical S/PDIF digital output too, so you can use the DAC in your receiver or buy and connect an external DAC if you don’t like the builtin one’s sound.

I didn’t test the digital output since my receiver only has analog inputs, and I’m happy with how Sony’s DAC sounds. It’s no-nonsense and very easy to use; just load up to 5 discs in any of the spots on the carousel, hit play, and it plays through all of them.

It also features an “ex-change” function, which lets you swap out the other 4 CDs while one is still playing. It’s well implemented, so if you put a CD in the empty spot for the one that’s playing, it’ll find the next empty spot to put it back in when it’s done playing it.

Mine didn’t come with the remote, as seems to be common with used units. I can see that there are modes for playing a single disc, repeating tracks or discs, shuffle, and programmed track playback sequences.

Without the remote though, you can’t access them. Only “play all discs and then stop” mode is available, along with the usual controls to change to a specific disc, go to the next or previous track, and seek.

It would be nice if all features were usable without the remote. USB playback and recording are the biggest flaw in my opinion. This is not a digital media player replacement. It’s pretty clear this is a CD player, and the USB functions are a bit of an afterthought.

Perhaps the remote allows some form of folder navigation, but without it the only way to browse the potentially thousands of songs on your USB drive is with the next and previous track buttons. At least they could have repurposed the “skip disc” button to skip to the next folder, but it just does nothing in USB mode.

While you can record from a CD to a USB drive with this player, you’d do far better to use a PC. It only records a single track at a time, then goes on playing the rest of the disc without recording it.

You have to select record on each track. It rips tracks at 1x speed while playing the track. The quality isn’t great either — 128 kbit/s MP3. It can also play data CDs that contain MP3, AAC (. m4a) or WMA files that aren’t DRM-encumbered.

Useful, but it suffers from the same lack of folder navigation as with USB playback. The presence of this feature worried me somewhat: MP3-CD enabled CD players I’ve had in the past would get tripped up by enhanced CDs that contain audio tracks plus some bonus data files like pictures or screensavers.

This one didn’t though. When I put in an enhanced CD, it played the audio tracks normally. Despite the flaws in USB and MP3-CD handling, I’m giving it 5 stars. Its primary purpose is to play normal audio CDs, and it does a superb job of it.

While the USB features are disappointing, it’s a secondary function and not what you should be buying it for. If you’re looking for CD-to-MP3 conversion, download Exact Audio Copy for free, or add a hard disk based digital media player/recorder to your sound system.

Purchase game properly packaged and everything was new in the box as promised. Very happy with our purchase and it works wonderfully would highly recommend anyone looking to listen to their old favorite cds.

These are hard to come by and especially Sony manufactured ones. Get them before they’re all gone!.

This is a very nice CD changer. It will play your CDs and do a lot more with the USB port. You get a real clear sound. I have this connected to my Bose radio and it works better than the Bose CD changer.

You have more options of how you want to listen to your music with the Sony player. The only draw back is that there is not a simple way to play all 5 discs one after another. You have to program each track one after another.

Sony makes great things but sometimes they over think a product. It is noisy changing from one disc to another but most of these type of changers are noisy. I would most definitely buy another Sony product.

This unit was the closest match found to replace a boom box that finally wore out after more than three decades of faithful service. With one month’s use, it is performing as expected. The audio quality is better than expected.

Some other reviews complain of inadequate volume. While it might not suffice in a back yard or gymnasium, it is more than adequate for typical domestic use. The antennae could be better. The FM antenna is wire that can be difficult to position for optimum service unless one extends it with an unaesthetic attachment to the ceiling or high on a wall.

Using a coaxial cable to connect to the TV antenna in my attic resolved this issue. It was a bit surprising that the AM antenna is external. This unit’s predecessor had an internal AM antenna & it showed little directional sensitivity.

The external AM antenna is highly directional & did not receive stations 30-35 miles distant well without adjusting the coil’s orientation. The off-white lettering for the black buttons on the sides of the front is easy to read in bright daylight but impossible in the room during the evening.

By contrast, the remote control’s lettering is clear in the evening. The remote works well, but it was necessary to consult user’s guide to operate the disc changer. A disc changer was a surprise, since their popularity has declined in recent years.

It works, but one wonders how robust the mechanism will be over time. The USB connection capability was a bonus. It works intuitively and well. The Bluetooth connection has not been tested.

Five stars for a $200 system? I unboxed the system, hooked up the speakers, placed all three pieces atop one of my bookshelves, inserted two AAA batteries in the remote; meanwhile, I loaded five discs into the five trays.

When I hit “play” on the remote, I heard music. The sound is surprisingly good, considering 1) it’s a shelf-system, and 2) I’m playing AAD classical recordings from the 60’s. Bass and treble settings go from 1 to 5, and the X-Bass feature provides some nice “umph”.

I never opened the instructions – using the CD function is intuitive. However, I will read the instructions when it comes to using other features (AM/FM, cassette, Bluetooth, etc. ). It’s “quirky” because when you use the remote to turn off the system, it says “good-bye”, although the LED lights remain on and periodically cycle, even on “stand-by” mode.

So the system is “asleep”, but lights remain “on”. Weird. I can either “live with that”, or turn off my surge protector. so we’ll see. I wonder how long the LED system will continue to work before I lose functionality? I’m going to purchase a second system, but this time I will purchase the protection plan, because this is indeed a “quirky” but curious product.

Loading compact discs and changing them makes no more noise than a large, 5-or-6 disc unit; the system whirls while it cycles, but that’s normal, and I hear no out of the ordinary “noise issues”. So I’m pleased, and hope to remain so going forward.

Poorly designed, clunky, and slow. Even just turning it on requires an incomprehensible series of steps that have to be timed just right. And there’s such a delay between each step, that it takes about a minute — no kidding, a full minute — between the time you first press “On” and when the disc starts to play.

Moreover, the device has a tendency to “forget” that it has discs in the trays — and displays “No Disc” even when the trays are full. Almost every time you turn it off and on again, you have to open and close each tray just to ‘remind’ the device that there are discs in them.

When I called to ask about this, the customer service rep said that this was “normal”. Well, if that’s normal, then this device is poorly designed; and if it’s not, then it’s defective. Either way, it’s inconvenient and unreliable.

Finally, our remote broke after just about a month. When I called to complain, I was told that they couldn’t do anything about it because the remote was an “accessory”. Well, there’s functionality that can only be controlled by the remote, and not on the unit itself — things like adjusting the treble and bass.

That means that if your remote breaks — as ours did, after only a month! — you’ll never be able to change the settings. Strange to call something an “accessory” when it’s the only way to control certain features on the device.

Basically, this device is a mess. For your own sake and sanity, pick something else.

For some time I have been looking for a CD player to replace my Cyrus, which developed a fault. My main criteria was for a CD player to work with my Cyrus 6XP amplifier to produce pure engaging music as the artist intended; nothing added nor removed.

I researched many CD players and listened to a short list of CDs, which on paper appeared promising and had received good reviews, all within similar price range. Obviously, amplifiers, speakers, speaker cable, mains cables, mains filter and RCA connectors make a contributing difference to the sound quality, but all is subjective to personal pleasure of the individual and their preferences of the sound of the music.

In comparison to other CD player that I listened to, the Rotel produced the most open, natural sound with great sound-staging and detail with no harshness to vocals, which I had experienced with some other CD players.

Like all music lovers, there are certain favourites track on CDs that one is familiar with; when playing these tracks on the Rotel, I noted hearing subtle musical notes that I had not noticed before with the Cyrus! Now this was a surprise.

Maybe Rotel is playing certain notes more profoundly than the Cyrus! Nevertheless, what is heard is pure music and is very pleasurable. I prefer the Rotel not having filters to play with, which makes life simpler and one knows that the music listened to is as the artist intended.

Furthermore, one is not paying for costly electronics that are only likely to be used occasionally. The build quality of the Rotel is exceptional with a great minimalist design. The display brightness can be adjusted, which is rather good, however I preferred the Cyrus display which could be completely turned off.

The remote is easy and simple to operate too. Overall, for the price, in my opinion one cannot buy a more natural, open, balance and precise sounding CD player with a great build quality and minimalistic design.

This product was un-available in stock around the country so my decision on who to buy from was based on quality of conversations / customer service / communication with Nathan and the team before stock arrived.

From first contact, this was excellent. I was able to call the store the day stock arrived and my order was processed on the spot and posted same day! I received in Melbourne just a few days later! The Rotel CD11 is a terrific player especially at this price point.

It’s given me a chance to listen to my CD collection once again! The construction of the unit is very solid – it’s heavy, robust and clearly a high quality build. Set up was easy and operation is straightforward.

It also looks great, sitting stylishly under my amp, with standard component width meaning it matches well without being the same brand. Best of all – the sound is excellent! Thanks Audio Tailor, I’m very happy.

I bought this to replace my 32 year old (yes you read that right!) Rotel RCD 855, which was beginning to submit a case for retirement. I looked at the Marantz 6007 anDenon DCD-800Ne. Close call! I felt that the Rotel just took the honours on sound quality, which I attributed to the lack of bells and whistles that the other two had, especially the Marantz – and these have to be paid for.

The Rotel just plays CDs, which is what I wanted. I also had had sterling service from my old Rotel. I was was surprised at the improvement in sound quality; I can hear things in my CD collection that I’ve never heard before.

I listen mainly to progressive rock, and classical music. I must also mention the helpful and knowledgable staff at my local branch (Bath) where Joe and Paul took me through all my options – so thanks once again.

I’ve bought from Audologica before so had no hesitation in dealing with them again. Richard was most helpful in sourcing an ex display model of this CD player as there were delays with getting a brand new device.

He kept me informed with the progress of my order and DPD did their usual efficient job of delivering on time. And I should add that I’m very pleased with the NAD C568 which has a much improved sound compared with my ancient NADC542 – greater clarity and separation.

I bought this NAD to insert into my system already comprising the NAD C316 BEE V2 Amp, and Acoustic Energy AE 109 Speakers (Excellent, also bought from The Audio Tailor a few months ago). I am very impressed by the increased warmth, bass response, extended detail, clarity and sheer presence of the music from the C568 over the NAD C538 that it has replaced.

I now have an awesome well matched budget system that more than exceeds my expectations for the modest outlay. Once again, service from The Audio Tailor that can’t be faulted.

Typical NAD with minimalist cosmetics and features and excellent performance. The supplied RM 9 remote is full featured but takes a little time to get used to, especially navigating a MP-3 disc. Sound is excellent and disc handling flawless.

A variable output would be a welcome addition so as to balance levels with other components.

After my 15 year old California Audio Labs player died 3 weeks ago, I thought (now that CAL is no longer in business) I’m never going to find another player- now that they’re more or less becoming extinct – that can match the performance of my old one.

Happily, I was wrong – and THEN some. This Rotel is actually better. I think that could possibly be chalked up to newer technology employed in the RCD-1572 MKII. I’m a classical music enthusiast, so I think I have a pretty good mental reference on what an acoustic instrument really sounds like, as opposed to what I might be hearing from my stereo.

And my system is very good- Bryston preamp and power amp, and Theil CS 3. 5 speakers. With this new Rotel, I can hear not only the individual instruments distinctly and realistically, but I can visualized their placement precisely, as well as the acoustic environment immediately surrounding each instrument- just like a live performance (well ALMOST, anyway- there’s no substitute for the real thing), Also, the acoustic information from the recording is, of course going to get mixed in and mitigated by the acoustics of my living room- although I’ve done what I can to make the room as acoustically neutral as possible.

Can’t do anything more about that, all I can do is make sure the source is as sonically invisible as possible, and this Rotel does a great job of that.

Pierwsze 3 płyty przesłuchałem bez podłączenia do wzmacniacza – tak – muzyka nie leciała, były tylko płyty w odtwarzaczu. Testowałem dźwięk napędu, czy jest głośny. Cyferki przelatywały na wyświetlaczu, więc chyba działał, ale w końcu go podłączyłem, żeby się upewnić, bo nie było go słychać.

I to m. in. jest genialne w tym odtwarzaczu. Mam go ustawionego 40-50 cm ode mnie przy nocnych, bardzo cichych odsłuchach i nie słyszę napędu. Jeśli komuś zależy na bardzo cichym, niesłyszalnym napędzie ten odtwarzacz jest dla niego.

Odnośnie wrażeń dźwiękowych to wiadomo, że tutaj już jest bardzo dobrze. Odtwarzacz zdecydowanie po ciepłej stronie mocy, pojawiają się dźwięki w nowych miejscach, jest bardzo dobra przestrzeń i selektywność.

Wczytuje wszystkie płyty, np. takie, z którymi fabrycznie wyjęty z pudełka Rotel CD11 Tribute sobie niestety nie radził, ten odtwarzacz wczytuje bez najmniejszego problemu. Nie wiem jak to jest zrobione, bo patrząc po zdjęciach środka napęd w CD11 Tribute, CD14MKII i 1572MKII jest teoretycznie ten sam, na szczęście tutaj działa bez żadnych zastrzeżeń.

I jeszcze dodatkowy plus za idealny wyświetlacz, czarne tło i dwa rzędy jasnych cyferek biało-delikatnie zielonych. Do ideału brakuje, żeby czytał SACD, ale i bez tego zasługuje na pełne 5 gwiazdek.

This is a really nice, very high quality CD player. I like most everything about it except the CD-tray. It is very flimsy in construction. The manufacturer should improve this as it severely detracts from the item.

A great replacement for my 20-year-old Rotel RCC955. I thought it better to replace, rather than repair the old unit. Then I opened up the 955, found the problem, and now I have two Rotel CD players.

That’s 20 years of service for the old unit, and the new unit seems to be built with the same attention to detail. It doesn’t have HDCD circuitry, my only complaint.

A good CD player depends on the quality of its DAC and the CD14MkII does not disappoint. My CD collection has come alive as a result.
