20 Best Carp Bait Flavours (2022 Updated)

I have used this bait, it stays on the hook fairly well with a single egg presentation, or tied in a 3 egg spawn sack, really looks great almost real. One thing I did notice is the egg or eggs increase in size once in the water, I dont see this as a problem, they look great.

I would have give this bait 5 stars only that I have not had a take down yet, mainly because the sea trout that lam targeting have not run yet. All in all this is a good bait.

I tried it for trout fishing. Slippery as heck to put on the hook. Probably easy to fall off too. Didn’t get any bites but only tried a couple csats.

The finest product available I can tell you that by personal use and also pautzke company cares about it’s customers and their feed back as well as the company has stayed in their family and the president of the company is third generation and a fine person his name is Casey Kelley, he is awesome.

Now that being said I stay loyal to the pautzke company and you will find you will as well after experiencing the fine quality now matter what you use of their line of products.

I fish for winter trout in a public stocked city lake, which has muck and filamentous algae (green slime) on the bottom; this bait floats well on a light hook, very visible no mess or bad smell. I used a split shot on 4# line to keep it floating about a foot off the bottom out of the ‘slime’.

If it doesn’t float add a little more bait or use a lighter Aberdeen hook. I still use crawlers, as they seem to catch slightly bigger fish, but for action you can’t beat this. Stores easily, eliminates the need for marsh mellows, cheese, corn, liver and other stuff that goes bad and stinks.

This bait doesn’t smell as strong as other Berkley products I’ve used, worms, minnows and shrimp. I’ve actually re-used if from fish I’ve cleaned and still caught fish, LOL!.

Bought this after seeing people using it online with good luck. I dont know if I was given a bottle that has been in the warehouse for a long time or what, but no matter how I work it, it will not stay on the hook after going into the water.

I have not caught a thing on this. I’m contemplating buying a bottle from Walmart and seeing if I have the same issues or not.

I’ve used this for so long I can’t remember when I started. I’ve caught trout up to 8 or so pounds. I always use Rainbow at the beginning and it always produces fish. Over the years I’ve caught more than 1000 trout on this bait.

Most recently a 2 pound and a 3 pound 10 ounce Rainbow on Rainbow Power Bait.

I used this stuff, on the recommendation of a friend, for the first time. I was amazed with the results. I was worm fishing for trout on a small local stream, also a recommendation of the same friend.

I had never fished it before, and when I arrived, the water was extremely low after a weeks long drought, and the stream was not very big in the first place. It was only about 6-7 feet wide on average.

Much of it was 6 inch deep riffles leading into a small hole, then back to riffles again. I wasn’t expecting much, and was wishing I had gone to one of my usual streams. I cast into the first hole I came to, and did nothing.

I went to the next hole down, and did nothing. I decided to walk back upstream and see what was around the bend. In passing the first hole again, I remembered the Power Bait. I put some on my worm, cast in and WHAM! A nice 13 inch Brown.

I went back down to the 2nd hole, used the Powerbait, and immediately got a tap-tap-tap. I struck, and reeled in a 12 incher. I got 9 trout that day, all using Berkeley Powerbait. I’m a believer.

Used this for the first time up in Wisconsin a couple of weeks ago with a lot of success. Get back to Texas and placed an order for Cheese, Blood and Shad. Went out this morning with the Cheese and I’m not sure what that mixture was but it was not a dip.

I mixed it for several minutes but no success. It would not stick to anything. Brought it home, mixed with some cooking oil and now its baking in the sun. I checked the Blood and Shad and those have dip consistency.

We’ll wait and see what happens with the Cheese but tonight when I go back out, we’ll give Blood a try. Hoping the Cheese thins out and finds its stickiness. Wisconsin cats love the Cheese. unfortunately the Texas cats didn’t get to sample it earlier today.

I was a total skeptic in the beginning not going to lie, but this stuff works great! This bait is self-chumming and you will have to re-bait every 15 to 25 minutes. If there are any catfish in the area they will come and get it.

Some will fall off when you cast, but this isn’t a “lets see how far I can cast it” type of bait. I used it on a #4 treble hook with a sponge I cut out from home, but it worked better when combined with a tube and the #4 hook with sponge.

If you’re not catching anything then you’re not on the fish. Move and re-cast until you do get a hit. In one spot within 15 minutes I had my first bite and within the hour I had 5 cats. Had to re position after 30 minutes of no bites.

Once I got to another spot, again within 30 minutes I already had 3 cats in the boat and had caught enough for dinner.

I was an avid chicken liver fan for many years. I tried this bait and it repeatedly out fished chicken liver. I am a fan! Using the rubber worms, it stays on the hook well and it catches cats! Hands down the best cat bait I have found.

Theres debate on whether or not this helps catch fish. Here’s why I say yes it helps. Plain and simple – its a scent – even if a target fish isnt a scent oriented feeder it will help them zero in on “bait” being in the area.

Also you have to be realistic, this isnt going to magically bring fish to you. As a fisherman you try to be aware of every factor at play – location, visibility, tides, bait action, etc so why not add a scent to an artificial lure? It could be that little difference that makes a fish bite.

My husband and I love this stuff. We have tried the mullet and shrimp, and both are excellent for saltwater fish. It seems to really get them to bite the lure, and sticks really well. It takes several casts before it washes completely off, even then the smell still lingers afterward.

The only downside is when you get it on your hands, it is so sticky, you will need soap later to get it off. But that is why it works.

I have used many attracts in my years of fishing. And when I ran across smelly jelly I quit looking anymore. It is one of the best attracts that I have ever used. And being a high school fishing coach and a tournament fisherman myself you need a little extra help to stand out from other fisherman.

And smelly jelly is it. And the different smells they have you can match it no matter where in the country you live and fish. Great stuff and thank you.

I usually use an aerosol can type garlic spray to scent my baits, but was tired of the garlic mist overspray getting on everything so I decided to try something different. I put some smelly jelly in spray bottle and gave it a a shot.

Word of warning, oh my gosh does this stuff stink! I grabbed a couple used up flukes from the bottom of my boat and put a dab of jelly on one and a different brand of scent on another. I dunked them both in water, the other brand washed off immediately.

I continued to let them soak for several minutes, the jellied fluke still had a really strong odor, the other smelled like plastic. Unfortunately, I didn’t notice a different fishing yet, but I’ve only tried once.

Another note, I have the bottle in two plastic zip locks and i can still smell it! Did I mention this stuff really stinks? And the stink sticks too!.

This is the best fish attractant I’ve ever used. All my fishing buddies I’ve recommended this stuff to are hooked. Can’t wait to hit the lake, lunkers here we come. Smelly Jelly in hand.

Great for small mouth bass. Works especially well in bright sun with still water. Lots of action on the 4 ‘tails’ seems irresistible for large bass. The smaller ones stayed away though.

I received a pack of the Pit Boss Jr. in a mystery tackle box. It was having a tough day of fishing so I thought I would give the pit boss a try. I have always been a fan of the power worm so it was a easy decision.

I think on about my 4th of 5th cast I landed a 3 lbs bass. I never stopped using it all day and managed to have a decent day. Since then I have caught my personal best bass 3 times using the pit boss.

I think its a big fish lure. I live in Canada so 6lbs bass are not all that common especially on inland lakes. I am a believer I have purchased several more packs I will never go bass fishing without one tied on.

Only down side is as with all power baits they don’t last long. but the darn things work!.

I received a pack of these in a tackle of the month club. Since it was power bait (best baits ever) I had confidence off the get go. First time I used them they produced big time mind you condition where great that day.

I used up the whole bag. I bought more next trip to BPS. Since then I have used them on tough days as well and they still produce where other baits did not. Now I have a 2nd go too bait other than the original power worm (still an awesome bait) I always have a Pit Boss tided on as well cuz fish just don’t let go easier to detect fish.

I like the California color rigged Texas with a 3/0 wide gap and a 1/8 oz tungsten bullet weight. I just bought over a $100. 00 worth of them on the spring fishing sale best time to buy them.

I did some research on using punch bait before coming across CJ’s punch bait. I watched some YouTube videos of CJ out with his family using his own product and catching fish after fish. I bought the catfish crawdads bait to try and I love the stuff.

I never had much luck with any other bait and at one point decided maybe the river didn’t have any fish in it. I’ve caught many small channel cats and today caught a nice 5 pound blue. Rarely do I ever have to rebait the hook without getting a bite.

I use to fish with more than one rod but found that I catch more fish with this bait when I hold the rod and can set the hook on the first tug. If your thinking about trying this bait you should go ahead and give it a shot.

It have bought and used wild hopper, monster and minnow in both 14oz & 45oz containers. The three 45s weighed 39oz each or less. The 14oz weighed 10oz. Just don’t enjoy getting jipped. It’s a shame since Cjs makes great baits.

Academy or CJs is aware of the problem as they blacked out the weight on the 45s. Only way to get around this would be to carry along my digital scale to the store. I will continue buying bait, only from Sure Shot.

I took into consideration the empty pail weight.

1. Stays on the hook unlike real bait which immediately gets stolen off the hook. The same bait will catch multiple fish. 2. It’s always in your tackle box ready to use. No hunting down a bait shop with live bait or trying to use mushy frozen bait.

3. The darn fish eat it. In my area that means flounder, whiting and redfish. A bit pricey but packs of shrimp and clam are always in my tackle box and get used both as bait and to tip jigs. When you compare how long a bait lasts on the hook, it ends up a lot cheaper than real bait.

So as with any bait somedays the fish want nothing else and somedays they are just not interested. I used it the other day where I was outfishing everyone else probably 4 to1. This may not always be the case, but I would recommend having some available when nothing else is working.

Have been using this bait since spring and can’t be happier. Less times baiting the hook. Catch multiple fish on same piece of bait. Used in the Atlantic in Florida and South Carolina got same great results.

I purchased these Sand Flea-flavored fish bites with a smudge of skepticism. Simply because I’ve had little luck with the other flavors. One day, I decided to Google how NOT to catch catfish – because who wants to be on the ocean and catch those pesky things anyway?! I got up before daylight to check online for the fishing conditions. It looked like a perfect morning to fish, but I had no bait except for a bag of Fishbites Fish ‘n’ Strips Sand Flea that I had ordered from TackleDirect.

com. So I headed out and got a rod set up before the sunrise. I was working a lure with my second rod when I heard my first rod fall over and hit the sand. Something big had pulled the sand spike over.

Awesome! These precut crab strips had the fish going crazy. The fish ate the whole strip compared to the longer strips. I did not find the shrimp precut strips. I prefer the pre cut strips verses the long strip.

This lure just flat out catches big bass. I highly recommend a heavy muscle rod and 40-50lb braid to assist with setting the hook with this heavy expensive lure. I missed a 7-9lb the other day because I was using a Lew’s light-weight jerk bait rod and reel.

Was bank fishing andd got the bass up on shore but it got off because the hook wasn’t set good and rolled back down the bank into the lake. I since purchased https://shopkarls. com/googan-squad-green-series-muscle-casting-rod to avoid this from happening again.

Really love the Gantarel line of baits. Took the Fired Up pattern out and nailed a nice 19-inch largemouth the first time using it. Great weighting/balance and fantastic swim action. I like that it floats as it helps to use in the shallower flats – especially at night.

I use these boilies down at my local river Stour here in Bournemouth.They are brilliant for chub ,i dont know if its the colour or the taste but large chub cant get enough of them.

Good quality but a little expensive. However it does save time when mashing boilies.

Many fish caught with this pop-up when other floating baits where of no interest to the carp in the lake.

Used these in December with cell stick mix and caught well on them very bright stand out pop ups that stay very bouyant even after many hours in the water

I picked up a tube of Liquid Mayhem at my local tackle shop. I am a big believer in scents but had never tried Liquid Mayhem before. Without question, this stuff works! We were trolling for walleye running 6 lines.

3 lines had Liquid Mayhem on the baits and 3 didn’t. The Liquid Mayhem covered scents out performed the other lines by an unreal margin! After 3 hours, we began applying it to all of the baits and just like that, the unperforming lines began landing nice fish!.

On the days when fish are short striking, being finicky, or just plain missing your lures. That’s when I pull out the tube of liquid mayhem. Trust me, this attractant is not a gimmick. Adding this to a drop shot soft bait, ned rig, wacky rig stick worm will for sure increase your bite-hook up ratios.

I have used this to bring in bass on the days where no angler is getting bit.

I received this fishing bait in my monthly Monster Bass box. The scent is of nightcrawler. It works well with fishing, I think I catch more fish when using this versus not. I do recommend this item- and I will be repurchasing it in the future.

This bait has worked for me on numerous occasions when all other baits have failed especially on hard slower waters where the fish knows whats going on and its increased my catch rate tremendously I cannot fault it.

Product looks and smells good not too sure about hookable but I will know better once I have been fishing with them

GARLIC-Man it smells strong. Shake it well. Spray it into your bags of plastics while they sit in your tackle bag/boat/truck, etc. Add a little salt, too. The salt and the scent will soften the baits a little.

Hey, why not let em sit in the sun, too? The end result is a stinky bait that fish hang onto. Don’t be scared to add in a little of the GULP spray as well. Makes a lethal combo. As for just spraying it on your bait while you are out fishing, there are better scents.

You will get most of the Chompers on your boat and you don’t want that funk. I’m only sharing this because I probably don’t fish against you.

This stuff is the anise formula, so actually it reads “Formula A” right on the bottle. Both the A and G scents work well and are quite fragrant. I like the Formula A better, just because it isn’t unpleasant smelling like the garlic formula is, and I have to smell it more than the bass have to, and after all, they seem to like it.

Otherwise, I’m not sure that one attracts fish better than the other.
