20 Best Cartridge Oil Filter (2022 Updated)

Fine filter. No issues. Not even one little decal for my new thumper. Sad day. Great product aside from no stickers.

I had used one of these on my ’98 VFR right before taking a trip from Santa Cruz, CA to Nashville, TN. In the middle of Texas the weld at the nut burst and sprayed oil everywhere! Poor quality and I will never use the K&N oil filters again.

The product is fine. but it’s not an air filter, it’s an oil filter. I knew it was an oil filter, which is why I bought it, but Walmart continues to say it’s an air filter. So, don’t be confused by Walmart’s description.

It’s a regular Fram OIL filter, just like the Fram part number says it is.

Great quality. Fit like a glove. Highly recommend.

Wish it had longer mileage with my 20k miles oil, but I guess that’s why it’s cheap.

I’ve used this filter on and off for the last 13 years. It has changed designs a few times during those years. In its current form it is almost nearly identical to the OEM Hengst filter, which is a good thing.

The end caps and center tube look almost identical to the Hengst. I have no problems using this filter.

I have used FRAM filters from the very beginning. Reliable performance (even in college when I didn’t change my oil as often as I should have). I recommend this for use with conventional oil only, as this is not an extended-service media.

I have used Fram oil filters in everything I have ever owned they are almost available every where and Wal-Mart should save you a few cents on these verses the auto part stores. and they also carry air filters for your car too.

what I would like to see is them carry auto cabin filters and make some of this able to purchase online than in store.

PROS: Filter quality can be measured by their micron rating. A micron is one one-thousandth of a millimetre. An oil filter’s micron rating tells you what size (in microns) particles it catches. Like if a filter has micron rating 40, it catches 90+% of particles that are 40+ microns but not much of the particles smaller than that.

This filter has a high quality micron rating, catching 99% of particles that are 20+ microns. For comparison, an economic filter will catch 90% of particles that are 40+ microns. However, the filter is unacceptably weak.

Last 2 oil changes, trying to take it off, the filter wrench crushed it. It’s too weak to handle the pressure of a filter wrench. Like it’d be if you squeeze a banana with your hand. Had to stab the filter with a screwdriver and twist it off that way.

Twice in a row. After experiencing that 2nd time, opting for a different one next time.

This filter seems alright but isn’t as nice as the one I removed from the BMW I was working on. This filter came with all the necessary parts for the change (replacement gaskets, and crush washer) but the crush washer was very small and low quality/thin especially compared to the old one.

I was disappointed in this. What I also did not like is that this filter doesn’t have a silicone or rubber gasket affixed to the ends of the filter and instead is some kind of fiber thing on the ends.

I seriously worry about it being able to work like the old one. The biggest gripe I have with this filter is the price, at $17 with inadequate features I certainly will not be buying this again as I feel its a rip off.

Unfortunately after stopping at 3 walmarts this was the Only option I could find that would work for my car, otherwise none of them had any of the other 5 options I had written down. Filter separation and failure is also a concern of mine as noted by another user as inspecting this filter there is nothing to keep the media and ends of it properly together, for this price I would expect an effective wire or other metal cage like system to keep all of it together especially if one should be going for roughly 20K miles like this advertises.

Since I have no way to evaluate the performance of the oil filter I have to rely on others reviews and analysis. From this I found the filter can be expected to last 15000 miles and preforms well. My car’s oil change reminder goes off well before that.

I like the textured bottom on the filter which means it usually comes off without a wrench. Can’t give 5 stars since my knowledge is not first hand.

Mine ran fine for a month or so. Then the engine started running rough. OBD-II said “Random multiple cylinder misfire”. Put a new paper filter in and the engine runs better. Could have been oil being sucked off the filter that was making spark plugs misfire? It hadn’t been cleaned yet.

Fresh out of the box. The K&N didn’t seem that dirty, but I washed and oiled it according to directions anyway for the next rotation.

Used this for my BMW. BMW oil filters for my e90 (’06 325) are made by MANN, even the ones I get from the dealers all say MANN, just an added BMW/MINI logo on it. Random oil change and was out of filters, did not expect CT to actually carry MANN Filters, no problems, exact same as my usual purchase from parts stores.

Only thing is it’s actually a couple $ bucks more at CT compared to the dealer, but I needed it day after-hours. All and all, good filter, would recommend especially if you wanted something OEM. Never a problem!.

This filter is what Mercedes Benz uses. Mann makes all Mercedes Benz filters air and oil filters. Only difference is the Mercedes ones are branded with the Mercedes emblem and cost 25% more at the dealership.

Great product for a good price! I have used these filters and many of the higher priced brands and these are just as good performance.

One of the best oil filters you can buy retail. Combined with a good synthetic oil it should get you maximum benefit from synthetic engine oils. Have used these in a number of my cars and trucks over the years.

Worth the few extra dollars you pay for these. My local Cdn Tire seems to keep a stock of these as well.

I also purchased windshield wipers. The clip on the passenger’s side broke upon installing. The dealership who did the maintenance is a credited Chrysler franchise. Really want my rating?

If you want a happy engine, use this one. The best when combined with synthetic oil. Much economical than putting the cheap one at half price then changing every 5k km. This oil filter can last 2 oil changes and engine still at its best performance.

I knew what I needed for my truck to perform at the highest level.

A little pricey, purchased this filter when Mobil 1 filter was out of stock. Prefer Mobil 1 filters. This one has a convenient nut on the base of the filter for easy removal. This is what your paying extra for.

The Fram Extra Guard is an outstanding filter. Its filtration is superior to most other premium filters in standard tests. You can’t beat this one for the money. Only the equivalent Supertech compares and it is even less expensive.

Extended 10K mile oil filter used in my WK2 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 5W20 synthetic oil changed at or about 1 year/10K miles. Looks to be same quality build material as Mopar filter. After extended use it has maintained shape, no structural falling apart noted, as I’ve seen in other after market, “economical” paper filter cartridges.

I like these filters better than the charcoal colored ones because if you have a dirty filter you really can’t tell with the charcoal ones. Plus I like that this filter is more rigid and not flimsy.

I have been using this style of oil filter for years with great results. I tried the felt style but I would have problems with the wire mesh core being too tall or not fitting properly. These filters just drop in and they come with a large rubber gasket for the filter canister and two fiber washers for the main stem and small bleeder screw.

I try to change the filter once a year but sometimes put it off for two years and I have never had a problem with clogs. My tanks are also in the basement and I buy quality fuel oil which may also contribute to not having problems with clogging.

I am very pleased with these filters.

I purchased this filter to go with my Jardine Oil Filter Relocation Kit on my 2001 V Star 1100 Classic. As with all of the K&N products I have used, this filter has turned out to be a great buy. High quality construction, great price, and of course great performance.

I am very pleased with this purchase, and I will be buying this filter again.

These suffer the same as the cheaper Hi-Flow kits, in that the O-rings are no use at all as they do not fit. The large one for the base flange is too large to fit in the groove, and the small one fits the diameter of the centre bolt groove, but is too large in section, and gets chafed during re-assembly.

Don’t bother with this one, unless you plan to buy the O-rings separately. in which case you may as well buy from Triumph and get the correct bits.

been using K&N for many years now on a number of different rides. the 17mm nut attached to the filter makes changing my oil a breeze. Without it I would have to remove some fairing pieces so it speeds up the process and gives me more time to ride.

warranty approved of course. And about the same price as OEM.

I first bought one a few months ago to use for my 2016 Toyota Tacoma 4-cylinder. I did the oil change using Valvoline Full Synthetic and the K&N filter. I used to use WiX filters, but decided to go with K&N since Advance Auto has a great bundle deal for K&N.

I had 0 problems, no leaks, no sludge, nothing. My truck does a lot of highway miles and it works hard. Simply put, you won’t have any problems with this filter. It gets the job done.

Needed the specs. for the threads on this filter. K&N filters from Summit racing gives this number which makes it possible to get the correct filter. Thank you Summit Racing for this information! I switched from Quicksilver filter to K&N on my Mercury outboard because of the tight area around the filter for removal.

The welded nut will make removal so much easier, and filtering to 10 microns is a big, big bones. Just a great product. Thanks again Summit Racing!.

This filter is a great product, one of the many other products K&N produces. I have long used all of their products since I was 19 years old I’m now 56 years young and still satisfied with their products I’ve had over 20 cars , mostly new and you better believe K&N products will be used on my car.

So my future purchase of my Zo6 will have K&N products.

The package of 6 was the best value, giving me 5 more years of replacements. A fairly easy replacement process. Gaskets were easy to replace. I must admit the bleeding process was not as efficient as expected.

I would buy it again. One-day shipping was a big determination in the order process.

These are old school filter elements that can handle a lot of flow and trap a lot of crud. We change ours every couple of tanks of fuel as cheap insurance to prevent spray jet nozzle and pump screen clogs and the hassle of replacing them.

They work in quite a few filter housings and ours is over 60 years old.

SH has what I needed at a great price and quality. The filters and strainers for the furnace fit perfectly and did the job they were intended to do.
