I have used this case for 6 months along with a brand new phone. This phone case looks good with a pretty good amount of protection and has survived a handful of drops no worries. Design wise, although thin, the lip for the back cameras kind of ignores the whole “symmetry” the case was going for, which isn’t a dealbreaker and can help avoid scratching and/or damaging the back of the phone when putting it down but personally this has lead me to putting my phone down face first (I prefer my phone to sit flush).
Personal opinion out of the way, the quality and fit of the case isn’t worth the money. The phone case is slightly too large for the phone, at least mine was. It didn’t fall out or anything, but dust, dirt and other small debris easily made it’s way into the case resulting in small chips and micro-scratches, which is not good if you have a plan where you can trade up phones if the phone is in perfect condition.
There is way too many marks on my phone for a phone that has lived in this case since I’ve had it. If that wasn’t a deal breaker, the soft plastic around the volume buttons and charger port have stretched and separated from the hard shell, which is not only annoying and ugly but now offers less protection.
I’d expect this from a much cheaper phone case. Otterbox is usually pretty good. Short term this phone case is alright, long term or with heavy use I would probably look for another case.

Using this case (and a screen protector) I dropped my phone at least 20 times or more on hard surfaces, and though the case eventually cracked… the phone inside was completely untouched. It did not have one scratch or ding! I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and it has impacted my grip, so I frequently drop things… this will forever by my choice for which phone case to buy! Several times I dropped it on concrete… several… and my phone was totally protected.
Great case, offers amazing screen protection when paired with an Otterbox edge to edge screen protector. The raised lip on the front of the case is great, as it doesn’t allow the screen protector to drag on table tops when you put the phone down.
The case is also designed so that the three camera lenses on the back will not contact any hard flat surfaces you lay the phone on. The downside with all this protection, is at the sacrifice of reliable wireless charging.
I’ve tried more than four different Qi chargers, from lay flat to stands, all of which if the phone is not properly situated exactly so will cause the phone to start charging and then fail mid charge.
Of the nightly charges over the course of three weeks about 40 percent fail. No case, no problem, phone charges 100 percent of the time as expected. OtterBox claims this case is wireless charging friendly, which simply isn’t the absolute truth.
I’ve decided to keep the case for more rugged outings but not as an everyday case.
This Commuter Otter Box is the best case I’ve ever had. I don’t even use a screen protector and I’ve dropped my phone over 50 times already and it’s still in tact. I repurchased this case because my other one was cracking due to being dropped so many times but most importantly my phone is safe! I’ll continue to purchase this case over and over as long as it exists.

I’ve always been a fan of otter boxes, even had one all the way back to my iPod touch 4th gen when those first came out. But after the other day, I know for sure why I choose Otterbox. I was getting my kids’ stroller out of the trunk and had sat my keys and phone down on a flat spot where the trunk comes down.
After getting his stroller out I forgot about my phone and keys and went to shut the trunk, I tried shutting it twice unsure of why it wasn’t closing so I slammed it down the 3rd time… then I saw the corner of my phone sticking out.
I immediately scrambled to open up my trunk and was so thankful to see my phone unharmed. It would be a 5-star review but like many others, the pop socket part struggles to stay where I put it while trying to prop it up or just puts the phone at a weird angle.

Very substantial phone case. It is applied in two parts and feels like it could protect my iPhone from any trauma. The rim is raised enough to prevent the screen from being hit if you drop it. There is a flap that covers the charging port and keeps it much cleaner than my last case.
I’ve had this Otterbox on my phone since day 1, just like every phone before it. An excellent case. I was, however, EXTREMELY disappointed to find that it did not include a holster, as this is my primary means of carrying the phone.
I was EVEN MORE disappointed to find that the included code for a “free” holster was of no use to me since they are back ordered. I’ve since sourced a cheap, brandless holster from a third party seller to hold me over until they are available directly from Otterbox.
I understand that this is due to the socio-political atmosphere and the measures that Otterbox has taken to protect its staff, but it is an inconvenience nonetheless.
