20 Best Cat Calming Products (2022 Updated)

I use with and without the Thundershirt on occasion. The Thundershirt has been very helpful for vet visits and nail trim time. I use pheromone spray at times in the milder weather when I have windows open and the outside sounds and sights crank up her anxiety a bit.

She relaxes and I’ve even gotten some slow blinks after spraying it. It’s a bit pricey but effective and a little goes a long way.

Good for helping cats adjust, we used it when we introduced a new kitten in our house to our 2 year old cat. They did not fight a lot but there was hissing and some bullying and passive aggressiveness, so we tried spraying this on our couches, cat towers, carpets, and areas where they spend a lot of time together.

After a few hours I noticed they were finally playing together again and eating/drinking normally without swatting at each other.

After a harrowing drive in a rainstorm- my poor doggy gave me the most stressed out face I had ever seen – so I pulled into Petco heading straight for the pheromones- Holy Moley – within 20 minutes he was a different dog.

Granted – we got home chilled – but the next day he has gone from a medium hyperactive Chi Hua Hua with tremendous separation anxiety some barking issues to a super chilled out version of the same dog.

How powerful is that! He has been resting all day has the most pleasant attitude- I am definitely going to keep up with this. I also feel awful that I hadn’t supplied him with this natural form of stress relief before.

I’m so glad I finally went with my intuition and got these pheromones- I’m sold – Now (of course) want a human form please ♥️ I’m looking forward to trying some of their other products as well. The company is definitely committed to animal wellbeing ♥️ and this makes me so happy -.

I’ve been using this calming spray for the last month. I found a VERY pregnant stray cat, trapped her, and luckily was able to have her tested for everything because she gave birth exactly one week later I attended the birth of 4 beautiful kittens! Since she was under a lot of stress, the vet suggested this spray.

Keep in mind she is confined to my very large master bath, so it is just one room. I use a towel that’s larger than a hand towel but smaller than a bath towel and apply the spray lightly to the whole towel.

I then hang it over the shower bar. Within 24 hours I noticed a difference in demeanor. It is safe for kittens. There are other ways suggested for use, but this works for me. Highly recommend.

As soon as I got the product U sprayed in in a couple of places where my recently acquired, 5-yrar-old rag-doll, who lost her human to death. I was able to touch her and am in the process of departing her.

She has been anxious since last December. I started off with a Sentry diffuser, which helped her come it if her hiding place. The calming spray is a great complement, as now I am able to let her. I have been trying to get her to the vet, but do not want to traumatize her in the process.

Now, gradually, with the help of these products, the cat is relaxing, allowing touch, and no longer hisses and scratches as she used to before using these products. Strongly recommend it!.

I have a healthy, normally well behaved 4mos old kitten. Once in awhile he gets the turbo ‘zoomies’ (which is BEYOND the zoomies) and there seems to be nothing we can do to slow him down. Wild eyed and running full speed, leaping on the furniture and tables, doing the sideways Halloween cat complete with bushy tail, seeing imaginary predators, normally we’d have to put him in a separate room to calm him down.

A short spray in the liv rm, and he mellowed out and seemed to like it a lot and he was less anxious and animated. Can’t wait to try this in his carrier for Vet visits. Also tried the Comfort Zone diffuser, that seemed to be worthless in comparison.

The cat won’t go in the corner with the diffuser, but when we used the spray he kept sniffing around to try to find the source and seemed really like it. A Godsend. Going back for spare!.

I have a 1 year old sweet gal that does NOT love leaving the house or car rides and unfortunately with the holidays it’s non negotiable. I have tried everything from melatonin cat treats to cat grade Benadryl to calm her down and she refuses to eat any of it (mind you, she is not particularly picky).

I was ready to just give up and accept whatever she was going to do during our 8 hour car drive, and then I found this product. First of all, I would not recommend putting in on your cats paws, they’re only going to track it through your house or apartment (learned that the hard way).

Instead I’d recommend putting it on your finger, mixing it with their food, or (if you feel good about your ability to measure as they eat) have them kick it while you squeeze it out of the tube. Ultimately it won’t sedate your cat or put them to sleep (it doesn’t claim to), but it will make your life a heck of a lot easier.

I haven’t ventured into the car ride but the test was giving my cat a sanitary trim after giving her some of the paw cream and she was so agreeable and didn’t wiggle. Also, just the fact that I was able to get her to try something for her anxiety was huge, so I’m singing this product’s praises for that reason alone.

Overall, 8/10 product. It’s affordable, easy to use, and my cat willingly ingested it. (Pics to prove her satisfaction).

To give a little background- took in a little girl cat over a year ago. She was basically the equivelent to bringing in a rabid squirrel! To say we pretty much tried everything is an understatement. She had major fear aggression, she would attack the other cats unprovoked and actually would hunt them down.

Our lives were very stressed because of this and so were the other cats. We tried stress reliving plug in’s, drops, treats, added extra play time, reassurance, ect. we thought that this would be our first “cat fail” One that couldnt be helped.

Her life and ours, and our other calm,mellow cats were not good with her acting out like this. With a last attempt before kitty prozac, we found this product! Tried putting it on the paw, but she kicked it off.

We then smeared it on her tail and she licked it off. Did this every morning. Within three days we started to see a calmer cat. She has gotten a dose every morning for about three weeks and she is a completely different cat!!! She is doing normal cat things like playing.

watching birds, and mostly she is relaxing and so much happier!! She will even jump up on a lap and will allow petting and is ok being held. I really dont leave reviews, but i cant say enough how grateful I am.

I bought this product when I rescued another cat. I have a 12-year-old female and I rescued and 7 year old male who is very big 20 lb and while he likes other cats he’s very intimidating. He wants to initiate play and she could care less My 12-year-old is a little anxious and nervous if new people are in the house.

I gave this to her first and she loves the taste of it she licks it right off my finger. Him on the other hand does not like it so I wipe it on his front paws or whatever area of his body I can grab.

He’s not a lap cat, he can be very loving but he’s sick. This seems to really help him calm down. He has feline asthma and he gets really hyped up with the Albuterol so after his treatment I wipe this on his paws to keep him chilled out.

I put this on my cat to try and de stress her from the other cats coming in our garden making her spray in my house. I put it on as per instructions with 2 fingers between collar and cats neck. I found the closure of the collar very tight to close and had to get someone else to do that up for me while I held the cat.

She had only had it on a few days and I noticed she had the collar stuck inside her mouth on her teeth. Once I managed to catch her she was yowling and drooling and very stressed. I tried to pull the collar from over her head but too tight, then tried to undo the clip but to tight.

I lost her a couple of times round the house and had to find her as she was hissing and scratching in distress so having difficulty holding her. Luckily I had a pair of safety scissors in the drawer which my boyfriend managed to cut it off with.

She was very upset and stressed after wards and I cut the other collar off my other cat too. So the safety feature on this collar is not up to standard. It needs elastic in it like normal collars. If I was not home or she wasn’t an indoor cat things could have been alot worse.

Not 100% sure if it had much calming effect on my cat. Had to use it for a long car journey, and she doesnt like being in the car. To be fair, she was better than I thought shed be, but not great. The collar also has a very strong, though not too unpleasant a smell.

My cat also doesnt like to wear collars or harnesses and this collar was a bit fiddly to put on, which didnt help to calm her from the outset. Had to make the collar a bit loose to just slip over her head, but fortunately she didnt try to get it off.

Its a decent enough product, but the the jury is out on its effectiveness.

Total waste of money, made no difference whatsoever to my kittens behaviour. In fact I would go so far as to say, I believe his behaviour was worse. I have now removed the collar and thrown it away. I was really wanting this collar to work as I had already tried the diffuser which made no difference to my kittens behaviour either.

The collar is supposed to start taking effect within an hour of putting it on your kitten, my kitten had it on for two days. I do not recommend this collar.

I bought this product as my Siamese boy Jax was grieving after losing his brother, they had been together ten years. Night crying, opening doors, aggression towards the other cats just some of his stressed behaviour.

A week after the first dose there was a marked improvement. Jax started to eat better, sleep more and the night crying stopped. I believe it has helped my grieving cat.

Having just added an new kitten to my family, which already has a 4 year old male cat, my resident male wasn’t taking too kindly to having to share his palace or me, with lots of hissing and growling every time he sees the little female kitten.

I tried plug ins and herbal medications added to his food, nothing seemed to work until I tried this spot on. There was a noticeable change in his behaviour, he was able to sit in the same room a couple feet away from the kitten without hissing and actually fell asleep while she was in the same room.

He did eventually retreat back outside away from her but it was a huge step forward in the integration process which I am doing very slowly, I have only tried it once but will be using it again tonight and will definitely purchase more as I feel it did work as I’m having no effect at all from the other more expensive remedies I’ve tried so far.

I’d definitely recommend. Not keen on the design of the pippettes though I ended up with most of it on my hands and had to sort of rub it on my cats fur, other than that it’s a great product.

Unfortunately, this product caused an adverse reaction on one of my cats that it was used on. The hair at the the site of application between his ears fell out after about 6 hours then blisters appeared on his skin.

These have now turned into scabs which have still not cleared after just over two weeks. Luckily, his hair is finally trying to grow between the scabs so I’m hoping he’ll be back to normal soon. The spot-on was also applied to my other cat and he has no reaction at all.

Both cats are domestic shorthairs aged 15.

Now that I have just had over a month to use this, I can say I am seeing a change. Also, Vlad has not had a seizure since using. Here is my initial review: My have a 3 year old cat, who seemed to be having small issues with behavior, but it wasn’t apparent until my 15 year old cat passes away, and shortly after we had an opportunity to adopt a kitten.

It might have been a little short time but it was the option we had. He was not doing well with the kitten, so I decided to get this calm product and it has definitely made a huge difference. After a week of using, I haven’t heard him hissing.

A few growls and biting, but he remains overall calm. He we also just diagnosed with epilepsy, so, seeing he enjoys this on his food, I am definitely going to keep this in his diet In hopes of it helping keep him calm and seizure free! He enjoys eating it, so I see no harm in keeping it in his diet! Since starting writing my initial review, we adopted the kittens sister as she wasn’t getting adopted, and he is not warming up to her as quickly either, but I feel compared to how he acted with her sister the first time, he is doing way better and he has been on the calming powder the whole time we got her.

I do see this helping calm him and I enjoy the nutritional properties of this. I hope I can keep this product in his diet in the future, I need to research more if it’s intended for daily use indefinitely.

My goal in trying this probiotic was to keep my German shepherd’s personality but to help him become more confident when we take him out. I wanted to calm his nerves so that the training could finally work.

We’re three weeks in and it seems to be working in that aspect. We train daily so he has exposure to people and dogs but sudden movements would startle him. Previously, he would still get startled some days.

For two weeks straight, he increasingly seemed to be able to tolerate the outside world more. He seems a LOT more confident and a lot less cautious of the world. He is able to actually stop and watch dogs and people without getting overwhelmed with big feelings.

Recently, we took him to brunch (which we’ve avoided for many months) and he did amazing in the presence of people walking around him. He also proceeded to go shopping in a new environment with very little issues and not needing high value food.

I’m convinced the probiotics have been a factor in helping my dog succeed. He loves the flavor and has no issues eating it. Definitely worth trying if training hasn’t been fixing everything!.

I came home from work to find my dog was acting strange, he was not jumping all over the boys, he was still excited to see me, but went to grab a toy instead of my bags. I asked my husband if he noticed anything different that day and oddly enough he said the boys noticed first that our pup was not incessantly begging for attention.

Today was exactly six weeks to the day. I had not realized how affected by his anxiety he really was. He never wanted to eat his kibble, he ate mostly the treats I gave him to motivate him on our walks or in the multitude of working toys we used to buy a moment of peace.

He is extremely energetic and reactive. He is still energetic and reactive and he still will not let me near his nails with a clipper but I convinced him a nail file is not nearly as bad. And now he eats his kibble without any special something added to it! I tried sprinkling this product on his kibble as suggested but he will not eat it that way.

I give this to him mixed with yogurt. I have yet to return to the vet to see if he will let them examine him and he still needs training but this product made a noticeable difference!.

I bought this for one of our three cats who is really bad with leaving the house. We tried a variety of carriers, travel with and without another cat in the same carrier, catnip and other natural remedies, nothing really helped out boy.

I read good reviews about this product so we decided to give it a shot. I ended up giving him a considerable amount more than suggested (after testing smaller amounts) and it didn’t seem to do much for him.

We also got some calming treats and gave those in combination with this additive. After all that my sweet boy was MAYBE 5% more calm. He still peed in his carrier, he still panted and hyperventilated, and still meowed like all heck, but he didn’t try to escape his carrier as much.

It could also just have been experience as he’s had to go in it more frequently leading up to this. TLDR: Might have helped, might not. Either way it didn’t make things worse.

I was hesitant to buy an over the counter liquid homeopathic addititive so when this arrived I decided to measure the exact amount as prescribed and mix into a larger amount of water than usual to be on the safe side.

First of all my cat did not detect anything unusual in her water which automatically is a huge plus. She did not drink that much water after I mixed this in so I wasn’t expecting to see any results however about 15 minutes later she became very mellow and relaxed.

She also did not obsessively groom. The effects lasted until later the next day so my words of great caution to all cat parents are: Go easy with this stuff! A little goes a very long way and my cat is 20 lbs.

I can’t imagine giving this every day without my cat becoming lethargic and wanting to eat all the time. I bought this for an upcoming road trip wanting to make sure she did alright on it beforehand and it definitely seems to have passed the test for that.

I bought it to calm the aggression/separation anxiety with two house cats. One being a male who was a stray, was neutered later in life but was still aggressive toward the other existing house cat. The other existing house cat a female who is spayed, can get aggressive when horseplay gets to be too much.

They have been taking this both in their bowl of water as instructed on the bottle plus a drop in their wet food for the last two days. They both have less aggressiveness, more relaxed, not biting, and not seeming to not be bothered by each other.

The chase instinct seems to have calmed down too, more playful. I still need to leave the aggressive one on the tie strap until I see he is not bothered by the other cat. Only time will tell, but I feel this product is very promising and look forward to giving a review and update.

My goal is to have both of my cats in the house instead of being separated when I am not at home.

Used these a couple of times now. Once for my very anxious kitty when I went on vacation and once for both my cats when we moved apartments. I see a significant difference in acclimation and behavior when my cats are wearing this during stressful times.

For example – my first vacation away from them, post-covid (quarantine kitties), one of my cats was vomiting every meal she ate, clawing furniture and meowing constantly. After having the sitter put one of these on her, she was cuddling up to the sitter, holding down her meals and her meowing and scratching got much better (she still does that even during non stressful times).

After returning from my trip, my cat decided to take the collar off herself after about an hour of me being home. During my move – both cats wore it and gave me no problems. After about 2 days with the collar on in my new apartment they both were scratching at the collars so I took them off al voila! They’re completely acclimated (only some minor spooks from its noise).

Overall, great product. Would recommend this over the plug-ins as I’m not sure if those have as much of an impact. Plus I love that my cats can tell me when they’re ready to take the collars off because they’re feeling good.

They hate the smell of the plug ins (I don’t smell them, but they avoid them at all costs).

I recently acquired a neutered male cat. Darned if he didn’t start spraying around his litter box. (I do have a spayed female cat in the house, too. ) For anyone who doesn’t know what spraying means in a cat, it means that the male cat backs up to something in the house, and standing up, shoots urine out of his body, onto some item or wall, to “mark his territory”.

My vet recommended getting this pheromone collar to help control the cats uncomfortable urges. It worked! I did use a few other tricks, too, like pheromone plugs ins, sprays around the litter box, which can all be bought online.

Anyway, the cat stopped spraying. I took away the plug-ins, the spray, everything but the collar. Then one day his collar fell off and I just figured he didn’t need it anymore because he had stopped spraying.

I thought the problem was solved. BUT, he soon picked up his old bad habit and sprayed by the litter box on a wall again. So, I put a brand new collar on the cat, and the problem has been once again solved.

I am going to stock up on the collars, and change them every 30 days.

My grandmother has a 10 month old indoor kitten that has been wailing night after night. She’s fed, she has her litter box, had her playtime, but wails and wails. Desperate to try anything we came across this calming cat collar and have kept it on her since.

She is still a playful thing but her wailing has been reduced significantly. The collar does not seem to bother her, and it stays on. We just trimmed off the excess. It is a sturdy material and doesnt feel dried out like those flea collars.

Would recommend!.

My intention was to alleviate my two cats’ stress when going to the vet in separate cat carriers. Previously, both cats would enter the carriers if enticed by treats. Fortunately, I had a practice run a few days before the vet appointment.

I followed the instructions and sprayed into cat carriers. The result – neither cat would go near the carriers for days, let alone in them ,despite much coaxing and food!. I had to wash the carriers and blankets that I had sprayed before their behaviour changed back to ‘normal’.

This is an expensive product and, for me, a complete waste of money.

One of my cats is not adjusting well to the two newer cats that have moved into our home. It has caused him to hiss even at the cats who were already here when he moved in. The Sentry collar is helping a lot!.

I absolutely love this product. I was introduced to it about 10 years ago when working with a cat rescue. Like all of us cat lovers with big hearts, I always seemed to say yes to just one more sad story.

At the time I only had a small two bedroom apartment, and was working with five cats. All in all they did good together, but inevitably some were stressed. I made sure there was one litter box per cat, clean quality litter, and only organic, no grain food.

I kid you not, when I brought the Feliway plug ins home, I woke up the next morning and there was four cats curled up and sleeping together underneath the Feliway plug in. I took a picture, and gave it to the store where I bought the product, so they could show others.

Today, I have four rescued kitties, aged 16-2. I adopted the 16 year old with her older brother, when they were 11 and 12. Sadly I had to put her brother to sleep this summer after trying to treat his hyperthyroidism (treating it caused his kidneys to fail, and he was having strokes and his lungs filled up).

This poor sister kitty begin to eliminate, both urine and bowel, outside of the box. I had her thoroughly checked by the vet and she’s ok. I again got the Feliway plug in and they worked like a charm.

I’m writing this review tonight as I ran out just over a month ago and I thought things would be ok. Nope. I’m buying some tomorrow along with the spray.

Lured by the good reviews AND a recommendation from my vet I tried this product. For me, this was an absolute disaster. I tried the product because I foster cats alongside my own, but instead of calming and making them more harmonious together, or even deter scratching, one of my cats went around the house and peed or sprayed every single spot Feliway had been used in.

Got to give Gracie credit, she was very meticulous and she found every single spot! But it didn’t calm her down in the slightest, nor did reapplication in select spots help. She just peed over the spots again after every retry.

Have since talked to a cat behaviorist and am on the slow track with her – she already had a tendency to swat and bite when petted although she made it through an ACC test with flying colors before. But she never peed out of the box before and never had any accidents in the couple of months that we had her.

Don’t know if it would have worked on the other cats if I didn’t have Gracie. If you want to try it I would recommend trying it in one or two spots that you can easily clean or you might find yourself scrubbing the walls, furniture etc.

Didn’t work for me.

I work to rehabilitate stray and feral cats – these guys have had tough lives and are generally distrusting (if not downright afraid of and aggressive toward) humans and other animals. In addition to this “revolving door” of temporary charges, I have three cats of my own in permanent residence in my home.

Feliway does NOT work on every cat, and it does not stop every undesirable behavior immediately, but it is a powerful tool in an arsenal of behavior modification techniques and aides. Take, for example, a temporary resident of my home named Butterball.

Butterball was an eight year old domestic short hair female. She was obese (24 pounds!) and had no love for life. She would scuttle to her food dish and scuttle to her litter box and then just lay there for the rest of the day.

When she first came to me for training, she could not even groom herself and showed no interest in playing or getting pets. The other cats and my dogs would send her into hysterical fits that had her hyperventilating and miserable.

Combined with healthy and medically supervised weight loss, re-training and socialization, Butterball got better in both mental and physical health. But she still hated to be around other cats. Using two separate Feliway diffusers, one in her room and one near the house’s central litterbox, she started tolerating them.

When Butterball left for her new home, they still weren’t friends, but there were no hysterics and there were no fights or bloodshed, a far cry from when she first came to stay with me. I can pretty firmly state it was thanks to the Feliway, because within one week of letting it run out (and forgetting to plug in a replacement), Butterball and the other cats were antagonizing each other to hell and back again.

It’s definitely worth it’s price if it works, and even if it doesn’t, it’s still a good buy to try it out and say that you’ve given it a shot.
