17 Best Cat Enrichment Toys (2022 Updated)

Read previous reviews, bought two (very reasonably priced!). Cat loves this. We have a highly energetic cat who needs to be stimulated quite a bit. He played with it instantly. It helps him demonstrate some of his acrobatic jumps.

Some of the other reviews stating it’s best to put it in a place where the mouse cannot land on shelving, etc. I agree with that statement, but the cat also loves pulling it down from the laundry room shelves.

It also flies behind the door which is difficult because he cannot extract it himself. The cat loves the toy so much that he scavenged his way through the Chewy box to get the second one and pulled it out.

I installed it in a different doorway (bathroom) and he loves it there too. One flaw I’ve noticed is that there is a little plastic connection in the toy. When the cat gets excited, he will grab the mouse in his mouth and pull away to walk away with it.

About 5-10 times, he has unhooked this plastic connection by just pulling hard on it. This frees the mouse on a string and he carries it and hides it, chewing on it. The mouse isn’t made from the best material, so I’ve pulled fake mouse fur from his mouth on a few occasions.

Overall, great toy. He loves it. I’ll buy more – the price is terrific! And it keeps him occupied.

I had just set the toy up for the first time when I noticed a plastic cap for the end of the wire hanger fell off. The now exposed wire might scratch some paint off but it was above my door frame and I hadn’t used it once yet so i let it go.

Of course my cats loved it. They jumped for hours, panting, approaching it from different angles. They would knock it down, occasionally pull too hard and the wire can’t take the weight and it falls.

After a week of only putting it up during times I could watch them play with it, it was done. The bungee cord was snapped, the adjustable clip completely broke so the bungee just fell off and I couldn’t attach it anymore.

My cats swatted at the once-bungeed mouse on the floor for a while but lost interest soon after. My cats aren’t rabid, they played with it as intended, I just think the materials used aren’t made to held up.

For a floor toy, fine, for a door hanging toy that isn’t too common? I would have appreciated more durable materials.

My kitten went absolutely bonkers for this. She loves it and would play non-stop until the mouse would end up hanging over the door where she couldn’t get to it. I thought the piece that rests on the door trim would easily fall off, but it only did once and just bending the arms inward was enough to hang it back up and stay put again.

My one complaint is that the mouse has made little dents when it bounces back up and hits the door frame. I didn’t notice this right away so there’s a bunch of little dings in the door frame. I took it down because of this, then replaced the mouse with a soft ball, but my kitten is not interested.

I will next either put some felt along the door frame to protect it, or find a mouse she likes that is completely soft. This mouse is covered with fur, but I think it is its nose that hits the frame, and the nose is hard.

My cats are not fans of most cat toys – they don’t even go for the Chewy boxes and paper which most cats adore. But on the advice of someone in an online cat group I belong to, I ordered this just to see if they might like it.

It took a few days to warm up to it, but now one of my cats LOVES it! (The other one is still not impressed, but he’s fairly elderly and dignified, so I’m not too surprised. ) I also love it because she can play with it herself even when I don’t have time to stop what I’m doing and wave a feather wand for her.

My only suggestion would be that when you hang it, you find a doorway that doesn’t have landing places nearby – sometimes when my girl pulls the elastic down and it bounces waaaaay back up, it lands on top of the bookcases on one side of the doorway or the kitchen shelves on the other (literally just happened as I was typing this!) and then she has to wait for me to notice and retrieve the mouse before she can continue to play.

Years ago I bought the original flat toy, which minimally interested my 3 boys for a couple of days. I put it away for a while, as I rotate their toys so they don’t get bored with them. When I brought it out again a month or two later, they had even less of a response to it, so I donated it to a shelter.

I was excited about this one because of the hills. I thought once over the hills, the ball would gain speed, but the hills are so short height wise and width wise, the ball doesn’t gain enough speed.

Many times it doesn’t even make it over the hills or stops at the bottom of them once the ball makes it over. Perhaps redesigning it with a heavier ball would help. The idea was great, but it appears it was designed more for cat owners appeal, and/or kittens, more than for cats.

Owners want toys that will keep both their cats and kittens engaged for long periods of time. With the hills, this looked like a winer. It is not. Kittens may find it fun, but through 60 years of having both kittens and cats, kittens have so much energy they’ll find almost any toy fascinating.

Add height and width to the hills which means you may have to make the toy longer and test it on older adult cats, 7 years old or so, who need exercise and stimulation so the don’t become couch potatoes! I for one would rather pay $50 for a toy my cats play with, then $25 for a toy that gets donated or trashed.

Absolute joy. We’re supposed to be getting these toys for our animals to enjoy. Turns out my son and I get more enjoyment just watching his kitty go at this thing. The version we got was the “Super Roller”.

Some people said parts were missing with theirs, ours had everything. It took us about 10 minutes to set up…8 of those were trying to figure out how the track was supposed to be laid out. After discovering that our instruction manual reading skills were no up to par, we chucked ‘em.

All the visuals you need to build this are on the outside of the box. One tip though, ok maybe a couple that may help you. There are 4 “hill” track pieces in this set, and with each “hill” there are 4 specific blue snap covers for them.

Me being an idiot, I put one of the blue hill covers on a flat piece of track. I knew as soon as it snapped in, I had made a mistake. It didn’t shape to the track correctly. Flat head screwdriver underneath popped it off the wrong track I put it on, so no harm no foul.

The hilly blue covers go with the “hill” track pieces. Like I said, I’m an idiot. You can build the track first and then snap the blue covers on or you can do it however you want. Keep the 4 hills together like this:

’’. ,,. ’’. ’’. The next flat track pieces go. ”. ,,. ”. ”. Shape should look like a dog bone, hourglass, or similar to the infinity symbol when you get done. Forgot to mention, when putting the blue tops on the flat track pieces, they need to slide to lock them in place.

There’s a tiny arrow on the side showing the direction to lock them in. After all is assembled, remove the plastic tab from the ball and kinda pop it into the track. Now you can hopefully watch the delight your kitty will have with this.

My son’s kitten is about 4 months old and absolutely loves this thing. He’ll lay in the middle of one of the sides of the “dog bone”, take a break, and then pounce attack, beginning another session of amusement.

I thought among the three cats we have there’d be one that would really get into it. Turns out us humans are more into it than the kitties! We like showing them how it lights up and we like seeing their reactions which are attentiveness and swat now and then.

But in terms of sustained play, or playing by themselves with it, didn’t happen. They do care about it when we are sitting by it batting it around but I would rather be playing a wand toy with them if I am going to interact with them around.

If I had to do it all over again I would not have bought it but then I would have always wondered if it would have worked for us. We’ve had it out for a couple weeks now. We will probably pack it up soon as it isn’t worth the floor space it’s taking.

4 stars because I can see it perhaps working for very young kitties (mine are 1. 5 years and older) and it’s built nicely.

It’s a great cat toy! I switched other feather toys since the feathers were always too big, made in China and dyed. I like that this feather is smaller and dye free, and made in the U. S. with natural materials.

My cat LOVES it! It’s the perfect size and fits nicely in her mouth when she “captures” it. The only downside is that the feather doesn’t last long since the cork starts to break apart from my cat grasping it with her teeth.

That said, I am trying harder to play with her in a way that she can’t get it in her mouth as much as she would like to make the replacement feather last at least a month. So long as the replacement feather stays affordable, I will continue buying them since she loves it so much!.

This toy’s simple design is perfect! It is durable and doesn’t tangle all while looking great AND keeping both our kitties entertained until they are too tired to play anymore! This is a must buy and better than any other wand toy we have tried.

This is a very simple cat feather toy but my cats both took to it immediately, and one has never played with a feather, and the other one only once in a while. They LOVE this feather. I have to play every morning and every night now.

I leave it taped up to a counter top so they can try and get the feather at night, and I can hear them playing during the middle of the night.

The toy is great and I’m thankful for it’s eco-friendliness. However, the shipping box was damaged resulting in the stick part of the toy to be broken. I know this is not ONP’s fault but it was a bummer.

I suggest better shipping boxes.

One of my cats is 28 pounds and the other is 10 pounds. First, they seemed a little scared of these tubes. Now, they have so much fun with them. The tubes are usually scattered about the living room.

When I get up in the morning, the cats have aligned them end to end. My large cat is in the middle of one tube. (I thought he was stuck inside) My other cat was ready to pounce on him. They chase each other throughout the tubes.

They just love them. Best toy I have gotten them!.

This was a great purchase. Striped tunnel is nice-looking instead of some awful bright green or pink, and our kitten loves dashing in and out of that central opening. He never gets bored with it. The smaller tunnel is equally great.

Yes it does smell like plastic at first, but that dissipated quickly, and the colors are kind of weird, but our little guy really responds to sound, so the crackly noise is a real draw. He’s in the crazy teenager phase, so we’re training him not to bite.

Whenever he gets in the insane-kitten bite-y mood, I throw some soft toys in there to chew on and he goes to town.

I saw these collapsible cat tunnels and thought my kittens would love them, and they did, but not at first. They were initially afraid of them because the smaller tunnel has crinkle paper and a noisy hanging toy and they were afraid of cat toys that made noise at first.

I set them aside and figured, well, maybe they’ll check it out again and if they were still afraid I’d give these tunnels to a friend with cats. After a few days, the cats were playing and having a good time in them.

If your cats are afraid of noisy cat toys, the larger tunnel is noise free while the smaller one has crinkle paper and a jingling cat toy hanging from it. My cats suddenly loved the smaller one after discovering that the big tunnel was fun to play in so it all worked out!.

My overall experience has not been a good one. When I received the board game and Cheerble ball, I began to charge it, and as per instructions, waited for the flashing light to turn to solid, meaning ball was properly charged.

Instructions said this should take about one hour. After two hours, light was still flashing. Unplugged ball and pressed the button to start the ball moving. Nothing. Shook the ball, then…again, as per instructions.

and still nothing. So, I plugged it in again, thinking it wasn’t fully charged. This time it was plugged in for four hours…light was still flashing. Wrote to company. They wanted me to send them a video.

Of WHAT??? A ball on a charger with a flashing light for four hours??? They eventually agreed to send me a new ball. That was over two weeks ago. Still waiting….

Cats like catnip, yes us cat owners know that but this brand, oh my goodness, my boy adores, adores, adores them!! Yes, they are astronomically expensive compared to any other cat toys but the amount of enjoyment he gets from them makes the spending so worthwhile.

The catnip smell is so strong that even i feel ‘drugged’ when i open a new one but my boy absolutely loves the ‘trip’ he goes on everytime he plays with them. They’re very robust with extra tight stitching so last a long, long time in this house despite the beating & mauling they endure regularly! The smell lasts a long time too, much, much longer than any other brand/type of toy so he’s kept entertained for months.

When I look at it this way, they’re much more economical than the cheaper ones you can buy so I really don’t mind the initial steep outlay. He generally has two on the go each time and both get clawed, bitten, bunny-kicked and dribbled on equal amounts but they have all lasted at least 11/12 months so I absolutely cannot complain to him that he’s too expensive to amuse! We ahem, both recommend these gems totally – happy customer, happy owner & extremely happy cat.

I don’t know what it is about the catnip in these toys but my cats obsess over any Yeowww toy we get them — more than the other catnip toys we buy. They will carry these around the house and play with them for hours.

I have already had to replace their yellow and green fish because they played with the originals A LOT! Highly recommend!.

These are absolutely the top tier cat toys made with catnip on the market. We’ve had some of our yeowww toys for years and they never fail to please our picky cats. The potency is still holding strong and they still go nuts over it.

They may be a bit on the pricier side but believe us when we say they last FOREVER!!.

I should of listen to the reviews. But in my mind I thought that I could modify it to make it work. I needed something low price to fit my budget but keep my one cat from gorging and then throwing up.

Did not have a problem with them jumping on top of it as I put it under a TV tray stand. But when the food hits that hard plastic it just bounces all over my kitchen. And I’m really tired of going in my kitchen and 50 million times a day I have to pick up cat food.

This item seriously needs to go back to the drawing board. In fact when the prototype was built they should’ve spent more time Testing it out before it went to production. The tray that the food drops down into needs a lot higher sides and holes that the food falls down from definitely need to be smaller.

I have spent a lot of hours trying to modify this thing to no avail. Hoping to get a refund and then going to invest in an automatic feeder.

We’ve had cats all our lives but never felt the need for much in the way of toys, cat furniture, beds, trees, tunnels etc. But when we became “empty nesters” in our late ’60s (our family of 4 fabulous felines had finally gone on the great litter box in the sky having eventually suffered various illnesses.

They all lived long and happy lives – ranging in age from 11 years to 18 years when they passed. ) Enter Lenny: aged 2 months, adopted from our local shelter and the most adorable black kitten we’d ever laid eyes on – THE KITTEN FROM HECK! Lenny’s favorite activity is biting us – sometimes just harmless play nips but more often vicious bites that usually draw blood.

By the time he reached 2 we had to admit that he wasn’t going to grow out of it and seriously consider evicting him from our little family. We contacted the shelter to arrange returning Lenny (like an unwanted Christmas present.

) Their specialist in cat behavior had many constructive suggestions and particularly recommended something called a puzzle feeder. We have now been using it about 2 weeks and Lenny is learning how to use it.

We are hopeful this tool will help modify Lenny’s behavior for the better – it couldn’t have gotten any worse. This seems a pretty good product but we have no basis for comparison. Although it does come apart for cleaning as it states on the web site it is not easy to take it apart & put back together.

The base that has to stabilize the heavy top while the cat paws at the food pellets inside could certainly be better designed. It is very wide and takes up lots of space in our little kitchen. It is a good product overall, but there are tons to choose from on Chewy, etc.

and we may eventually seek out something more satisfactory.

I got this puzzle feeder because shortly after finishing her kibble in the morning, my older cat (10) would just start screaming again for attention. She was bored because no one was up to play with her.

This puzzle feeder has 100% solved the problem. It’s easy to use (I put some kibble in the bottom bowl and pour the rest into the top), and she goes to town. There was a bit of a learning curve – she needed encouragement at first, and it was exhausting (in a good way) for her to mentally figure it out.

But she has it down now, and it provides all the mental stimulation she needs for the morning. She does pull on it and “snap” it at times, making food fly, but we feed her in our office so the sound doesn’t bother us.

Plus she cleans up the mess. All in all, it’s a great feeder and holds enough for a full meal, not just treats.

One of my cats loves it! He was hesitant at first because it crackles, but with a few treats and catnip, it soon became his new best friend. He loves to waggle his butt on one of the ends and then tear through another hole.

Our other cat, age 14, is much quieter, but she has enjoyed going through it a few times. A wonderful toy! I said that it is of good quality, and it is for the price, but it’s on the flimsy side, but it’s tough.

GREAT product! Cats LOVE this tunnel! Play time lasts for hours! Easily moved from one room to the next, or you can fold it flat and take it with you if you go somewhere (like on vacation). We have a little dog, and the cat stares at the dog until she walks away, as if to say,”This is NOT yours!” The holes are so much fun to watch the cat pop in and out of.

My kittens love it. I will buy 1 or 2 more for sure.. The ball does get stuck to there nails tho only bad thing I can say about it other then that its a great purchase

My cat is older and adjusting to new surroundings—tends to be more reserved. He’s fallen in love with his new friend, Cricket. It’s the only toy he regularly seeks out and plays with. It’s great to see him enlivened with interest in this toy.

The chirping sound is lifelike and not tiresome for the humans in the house. We’re already planning to acquire more crickets for back stock.

The first sound activated toy that I brought home for Fiona, was such a big hit, that I have taken to collecting all the toys that have different animal sounds. Since she has been knocking them under furniture that she cannot get too to retrieve them, I have taken to tying a length of my emu feather boa to the ends of them.

I got this idea when I had seen her proudly dragging my boa into the family room. When I got tired of getting down onto my hands and knees to retrieve her smaller toys, I thought to myself, I am not utilizing that part of my wardrobe anymore, so why not cut it up and add them as tails to these toys.

Since Fiona really likes the feathers, that did not deter her from playing with these toys and I no longer have to hunt for them. I like that the animal sounds are not too loud. Just loud enough so that I can hear her playing with those toys, and I can tell in what part of the house she is playing with them in.

When she is done playing with a toy, I just pick it up and put it back in her toy pile in the corner of the family room.

I have 3 cats and they all love this toy. However, my one cat loves it so much that the cricket sound was actually broken the first day (my boyfriend stepped on it) and he still played with it every day and carries it in his mouth.

I’m purchasing a new one cause this one is torn to shreds by now and doesn’t even have wings anymore.

I bought this for my 4 month old kitten, and he LOVES it. LOVES. In fact, so much so that it was completely destroyed within about 3 weeks. I wasn’t very happy about that until I went directly to the Dezi & Roo website and found out that you can purchase replacement ends! Not only that, but they have several styles to choose from.

The wand itself telescopes out into a nice length, and the wand and “fishing line” are both very sturdy – even for super rough play. So I am pleased that the wand can be used with other attachments, but by the same token, I feel the original attachment should have lasted more than 3 weeks.

My cat loves the strings and the larger (purple in picture) dangle is soft. Strangely enough, my cat likes the fishing wire more. Careful with this though! The connector from the string to the toy is metal, has open circles, and is not covered.

If your cat likes chewing string, their teeth could be injured on the uncovered connector.

This is a wonderful cat toy. Especially for my hyperactive kitties. You can whip it back and forth very quickly. One of my cats goes and finds it and brings it to me when he wants to play even when it’s not play time.

I highly recommend it.

Everything about this product is great. Easy to charge. Entertaining. Our elderly cat who was feral didn’t know what to make of it and now doesn’t show much interest but that’s because of his background.

Not the product. If we had a different cat, I know it would be a hit!.

This flipping flopping fish is the best toy ever! It has literally brought hours of enjoyment to my kitten and to her family watching the comedy show. Even my two older cats have gotten in on the fun.

I bought two, while one is charging the other can be played with.

The product was just like the seller said it was. Shipping was fast.

I would not buy this again because it’s very lightweight and when kitty scratches she pulls the post over. The base and toy are made of cardboard. The attached ball and feather are cool. I wanted to buy the replacement post for my old post, but could not find the product on Chewy to reorder.

I guess I should have called.

Great toy to keep our cat entertained while we are away from her and keeps her from tearing up the furniture. She can scratch, play, chase, swat and have a fun time with this all day long. Multiple textures and toys for hours of entertainment with or without supervision.

There is, hands down, no contest between Shrimpy and hundreds of dollars worth of infrastructure and other toys we’ve purchased for this cat. Shrimpy = unlimited entertainment, especially at night when the cat’s parents are sleeping in a separate room.

This toy is probably a favorite because it is very easy to pick up in his teeth. It is also an awkward shape that bounces chaotically on the ground when batted around. All in all, a toy we will no doubt need to purchase time and time again as he rips his first from end to end.

I ordered the Sushi Shrimp toy and two other Doggles for my cat, Penny. She “lost” a previous one in the house and kept looking for it, so I ordered three more of the toys. They’re really cute, durable, and she loves grabbing them and throwing them around in the house.

The shrimp kind of looks like her former toy that she still looks for, and she really loves them all.

This is the perfect size for our cat to carry and toss around. He hasn’t played with it a ton since day one but that’s sort of normal for him. He has very specific favorites and he’ll go back to his other toys once in a while.

But he threw this all over the living room for a good long while when it was first given to him and that’s a pretty fair endorsement. The sewing also seems to be pretty solid, very well made toy.

This toy is as pictured and arrived neatly packaged with a separate pouch of catnip. The back of the toy opens with Velcro, so you can insert the catnip. However, it is a thin toy. I was hoping by adding the catnip, it would fill the toy, but it does not fill it to the point where it rounds out the toy.

I guess it is not meant to be like a typical stuffed toy; however, the picture made it seem like it was thicker and not so flimsy. It’s very soft and pretty adorable though.

I purchased this as a gift for my sister’s very large cat. It said it was a rat, I assumed it would be larger than a mouse, which it might be, but not by much. It measures about 3 1/2 inches long not counting the tail it is bit fat about 2 inches across and I suppose when stuffed with the accompanying catnip it should be a plump little toy.

But from the picture it just seems it would be larger. It still is cute and I am sure my sister’s cat will not care about the size. I would still recommend it as a nice cat toy. I love shopping at Chewy and it will not affect my future purchases, Nice quality products and great prices.

My two adult cats have played with this toy every day since they got it. This rat is big enough for them to wrestle with but small/light enough to carry it their hiding places. I will also often hide it behind or in something for them to find – and they always do.

Just a side note: I did remove the velcro and sew up the hole after putting catnip inside because I felt the velcro was a bit sharp around the edges.

We just received this last week and my senior old lady seldom plays with toys. She chased and ran and jumped with the wiggly wand. She fought off the other cats to have the toy to herself and all of our pets had a wonderful run and chase time.
