17 Best Cat Gravity Feeder (2022 Updated)

I’ve been using this for several months now and overall I rate it an average product at best. Construction is good with an easy to remove stainless steel bowl for cleaning. The gravity feed of the food is not good.

I have to shake the bowl a couple of times a day to get the kibbles to drop into the bowl. The bowl opening is a bit small for adult cats, mine will eat from it but have to get sideways to it so the top of there heads don’t touch the storage container.

It’s also messy. Even the larger feeder like I ordered has a smallish and shallow bowl and the cats tend to push food out while trying to get the food out of the bottom since it doesn’t feed the kibbles well.

There are probably better self feeders you can find to spend your money on.

This pet food station is really just a hopper with a lid on top and an open bottom with a dish underneath. It doesn’t really dispense food, per se. Food falls out of the hopper into the dish. It doesn’t really keep food fresh, since the hopper is open at the bottom.

It does, however, dispense when the dog eats out of the dish, so that’s something. If your dog eats until the food is gone, this product will not help you mind the dog’s diet while you are away for a few hours.

If your dog always has food out and only eats what they need, you might find this product marginally appealing.

My animals seem to like this thing. They don’t seem afraid of it and they don’t make any messes with it. It holds a lot of food and will last quite a few days. I used it with cat dry. I found that there was an issue with it though.

The food doesn’t automatically refill or fill up the bowl. It’s almost like it gets jammed up. A little bit of food continues to come out but you need to shake it to get the bowl all the way full. I wouldn’t leave this with cats or anything while you’re out on a trip because you cannot trust the food to come out like it needs to.

It works good enough but not enough to rely on it.

I am retiring and had a new house built 2 hours from my current home. A stray cat took up residence in the newly built home but I am not selling my current home and moving for another 6 months. I bought this to feed the stray cat.

I check on her weekly. It is under a covered porch and safe from the elements and I use the battery function when I am not there. I have had it for probably about 3 months so far and it hasn’t failed me yet.

Easy to set. The battery still says it is fully charged. Stays dry and animals and bugs have not gotten into it. It is a great peace of mind knowing she is being fed regularly when I am not able to be there.

I am very happy with this feeder and would definitely recommend it 100 percent to anyone needing one.

I used it for my cat. Also my dad was there with my cat the whole time. But since he is elderly I bought this so he wouldn’t have to bend up and down to feed her. He checked to make sure it kept working.

When I returned there was still food. I would recommend this product as it did work perfectly for me.

We bought this automatic feeder because we wanted our cat to have a better eating routine. Since buying this product, our cat no longer scratches our door super early on the weekends begging for food.

We also feel more comfortable leaving him alone overnight and having timed feedings versus overfeeding him by adding a ton of food in his bowl for when we’re away. It works great!.

This pet feeder is so cute! It’s just the right size for my dog. I love the 2 small stainless still bowls that came with the stand! It’s very nice. It’s not too big or too small but just right for my medium size dog, Cookie Monster! Once she got use to her food being off the floor a bit I thinks she really likes it!.

I seem to like this pet feeder as the Yorkies are drinking water and like it. That’s important: if the dogs are happy! Product is made well.

I and my dog like this. The only problem is the bowls are smaller than I thought it would be. This would be fine with a smaller dog, but i have a 70 boxer who needs a bigger water bowl. I am filling up the bowls more often.

I still think it is better for him not to have to reach all the way to the floor so I will continue to fill the water bowl more often. The food bowl is ok for him.

My new puppy finished her food in under a minutes so this bowl seemed ideal. I am a senior, and when I opened the box, I tried spinning the center device. It was very stiff, and I thought might be too stiff for my puppy so I tried to loosen the spin.

I could not turn it, and was getting frustrated. I must have cracked something as I eventually, through perseverance, finally loosened the center part, but so much so that my puppy finished the bowl in 2 minutes.

So trying to tighten it up again I was unable as the center part (which I later figured out) was cracked and wouldn’t tighten. I’ve used this bowl for less than a week and it’s not the cheapest. I am very disappointed as I was looking for something that would truly slow down my puppy’s eating.

The idea is great. The materials. well you may have better luck!.

This feeder was amazing at slowing my dog down from gobbling down his food. I’ve tried several different slow feeders and kibble wobblers, but my dog would still have issues with inhaling kibble that caused coughing fits.

This bowl kept him occupied for over 15 minutes, he never inhaled his food, and it was so much quieter than the wobbler we used before. BUT sadly it became unusable after it’s first trip in the dishwasher.

The mechanism no longer spins and is essentially useless. Not sure if mine was just defective, or my dishwasher was too hot, but it was sad we only got a little use out of it. However I’m still considering buying a new one because it worked out so well with my dog.

This time, no dishwasher.

My older girl has always absolutely inhaled her food. Even with “slow feeder” bowls, she can easily clear the whole bowl in three minutes flat. This bowl has solved that problem. It’s not challenging enough that she struggled to figure it out, but with the multiple areas for kibble to fall and settle, it’s much harder for her to vacuum her food up, and it now takes her around 15 minutes to eat her meals.

The bowl itself is super easy to set up and break down to clean, which is great for me because mine have a few supplements that can get messy. I will say that if you have a dog that gets frustrated with puzzles, it would be nothing for a dog to decide to chew on or break this bowl, so if you think your dog may try to chew it instead of working out the puzzle part, only use it when supervised.

When we aren’t using it for my oldest girl’s mealtime, it makes a fun puzzle bowl for treats for my other pups, so I like that it’s multi-purpose in our house. Overall, I’m incredibly pleased with this bowl, and I’ll be looking into getting the other bowls in this series.

I love this product! I actually use it for my cat because she has a habit of knocking her dishes over when she is finished eating and drinking, creating a mess. This product has truly helped me with this issue.

It keeps the area around the dishes clean and and the dishes themselves are kept in place and easy to clean as well. 10/10. Highly recommended for your furry friends who like to make a mess or just enjoy the finer things in life!.

I absolutely love this dish. Our household consists of eleven Siamese cats and one dog. They run around the house all day long. It was quite frustrating to come home from work each day and clean up the food and water they knocked over while I was away.

This Platinum Pets Olympic Dish solved all of these problems.

I love this bowl. My cat does too, I think. This bowl has a very modern look to it. It’s really cute when you place a food mat under it. My cat went right up to it whenever first let him use it. He didn’t have a problem.

This feeder has solved multiple problems: cats waking us up WAY too early, one cat eating too fast and vomiting, and I don’t have to remember to feed the cats dry food after their first dinner and first breakfast of wet food.

I love the ACDT20 timer. It allows me to dispense small portions throughout the day, preventing the cat that eats to fast from vomiting. The hopper is easy to clean. If you don’t personally have woodworking skills, I would recommend getting the set that comes the bowl & stand attachment.

I would keep in mind that if you have cats that are territorial and won’t share eating space, you may need to buy more than one of these OR find some way to do tubing to dispense to multiple bowls as pictured in some of the DIY pics.

Rest assured that indoor cats trying to game the system to pull more food out of the food dispenser on the bottom will not be successful. I’ve found a perverse joy in watching the break-in attempts of my fat boy being foiled over and over.

This feeder works very well. Custom mounted outside in a metal trash can with just the feeder spout sticking out. No varmints have been able to get into it. Two cats are fed consistently twice a day without fail.

All I can say, is that this works reliably. We tried a made in China one and it failed miserably.

Was very skeptical about the product. We tried a jerry rigged deer feeder (disaster) and considereducated all types of cat feeders. Decided to pop for the super feeder. Great product. Well built. You can tell it is a modified fish feeder but that really shows how versatile the design is.

After building a racoon proof box with a feeder shute we are feeding our four new barn cats safely, cleanly, and no concerns about critter thievery.

There are a million and one things you can do with a mason jar! One of my favorite things to do is to prep meals with them! You can make different layers my favorite is to do this with salads! There are not too many ways that I know of that you can pre make salads without them getting all disgusting and wilted, but the Mason jar is perfect for this! You simply put the dressing on the very bottom and then layer each ingredient in the appropriate order.

For example I like to do the dressing always first and then I do the hardest ingredients like carrots and broccoli, then I’ll do things like chickpeas flax seeds and then lettuce and on the top I put my softer Foods like cheese, hard boiled egg, and chicken or tuna fish.

You can make them like 5 days in advance for example I used to make 5 jars and bring one to work with me everyday when I would shake them up everything would be completely fresh and delicious! You can also do this with other things like yogurts, with fruit and granola or cottage cheese with fruit on top if you have the smaller jars.

Anything that you can think of that sounds appealing to you this will work for!.

I bought the product thinking that the filter will keep the bowl clean. It did but it also kept any water from dispensing. Based on the instructions it is pretty clear what to do, so why does it not do what’s it’s meant? Now I’m forced to squeeze the bottle twice a day to make sure my dog has water.

We have had one of these elevated feeders from Bergan for over a year. Our large dog is older, and we wanted her to be able to eat and drink from an easier, healthier height. We did a lot of research before purchasing this feeder.

Price, sturdiness, height, removable bowls, and ease of cleaning were important in our decision. This feeder was and has been perfect for our needs. Recently, we have needed to put a water bowl in 2 other locations in the house because the dog had some health problems.

I carried the elevated feeder up and down the stairs for a couple weeks and stuck a water bowl here and there (we have 2 large kitty fountains for our cats that our dog doesn’t like). It did not take long for us to realize that getting 2 more of these feeders would be easier than what we had been doing.

I reluctantly purchased one more about a month ago, then finally a third one a week ago. I am so glad we did and wish we had done this sooner. We are very happy with them. On a side note, even the kitties enjoy drinking out of these feeders.

There is a lot of crazy in our home sometimes but this feeder has never been pushed over (not even when the kitties put their front paws up on it to drink). It really is a great feeder/waterer.

We have a 15 year old wire fox terrier who is nearly blind and not too steady on her feet. This elevated feeding stand ( I ordered medium) has been a wonderful addition to our pet products. The bowls that come with the feeder aren’t fantastic but they are satisfactory.

The ceramic feeding bowl that we have been using for her for years fits right in the slot so instead of the stainless bowl for food I use her old bowl. I’m not sure how long this feeder will last but it sure is providing help to an aging dog in her twilight years.

When my vet told Mom that I needed an elevated feeder, my thoughts were – yeah right. You know what I showed them that I didn’t need this feeder. I grabbed my food and put it on the floor and ate it there.

Mom didn’t mind she kept putting food in the bowl. What a pest !!! I tried it once and now I never eat on the floor. My back feels better too !! I wonder why??? It’s just the right height for me, and it doesn’t slide either.

My cat is very picky what she wants to eat or drink out of. She went straight to both feeders without hesitation. I like the size of the water feeder but for the food dispenser I wish they would make it smaller.

My cat is a little overweight and I am afraid that she would eat too much when not supervised. I will definitely continue using a water feeder but not food dispenser while I am home. For now I just put a small bawl inside the food plate.

Having said that, I am happy with this purchase. The price is good for both feeders judging by what the others are charging just for one.

The wife and I take road trips and need a way to feed and water our dogs in case family can’t assist. This solved the problem of feeding. I have one large dog, and two small ones. This provided food for the three of them for over 2 weeks without a refill.

That is more than enough time that allows family to attend other matters while still keeping all the dogs fed.

Bought these for my two cats, thinking they would be great for feeding while we are gone for a long weekend. The dry cat food dispenser needs to be given a slight nudging everday so the food from the canister can flow down into the bowl, otherwise it gets stuck inside.

Perhaps the opening is a bit too small. The water dispenser works fine but if any of you have cats, then you know they don’t like stale water. That’s a cat behavior thing and not the fault of the manufacturer.

Hoping to teach the cats to nudge the food themselves using their paws before trying to leave them for more than 1 day.

We have 2 of these 18lb feeders. They do have some issues. 1. We screwed the tops to the bottoms now they dont come apart. 2. These feeders dont gravity feed well. So we set the rear on a 2×4 and now it feeds the dogs, 2 very large dogs (pyrenees and rott).

Now my issue is the feed holder is out doors , no dogs in the house. So the feed holder has melted over , the other on has not. Not sure why. So petmate i need a replacement!!! Just the barrel. We pd 36.

As many others have said here and on countless other sites like Amazon, etc. There are major flaws in the design of this product, all of which make it far more frustrating than it’s worth. The feed ramp is designed poorly so that barely any food actually drops all the way down into the bowl area.

That and the two halves of the bottom section separate way too easily so it falls apart and spills the food all over the place just from it getting bumped a little too much. Customers have been complaining about these same issues for years, and nothing has been done.

I can’t imagine how a company can be so unbelievably bad at their core business.

I bought 2 years ago. It has held up well. I have 3. But, the clear portion cracked on one. I need to replace the top portion. I do not want to throw away the lower portion -that would be wasteful. To make thus a 5 star rating your company needs to make replacement parts.

I recently purhcased two of these for my whippet dogs. They are great quality but I wish I had ordered the next size up. I ordered small. It’s no problem though as I am getting a puppy whippet in four weeks, so will keep for her, and just order a couple more for my larger whippets.

Arrived really quickly, and the green and grey colour goes great in my kitchen. Thank you x.

These bowls are great for our Airedale and Welshie. I was looking for something easy to store away in our caravan and these bowls are perfect. Easy to unfold and take up a lot less room than our previous bowls.

Would definitely recommend.

Excellent bowl love the colour! Been looking for ages for a suitable bowl for our large dog as we live aboard a narrowboat – this ticks all the boxes and it’s fun and modern looking. Customer service at dfordog is excellent too.

My dog always liked to tip over her bowl when she felt like playing and toying with her water or food instead of actually eating. This product has helped me save time on cleaning the mess my little pooch has left for me.

It’s difficult to tip over and it comes in a cute little design for your dog. I highly recommend for rebellious playful dogs.

Good dog bowl for food or water ! It grips nice and tight to the floor so it doesn’t move around! Easy to wash. I use this bowl to keep water for my pets inside the house and its perfect because my dogs don’t make a mess.

The only down side is I wish it was a little bigger but overall good product.

I got one of these only because my cat would dump the water bowl when she had kittens. I’m guessing she thought she was saving their lives every time she did it because she would freak out when they got close to it.

These are heavier then plastic so I gave it a try and she can’t dump this one. I have to say this is the best purchase I have made since she had babies.

I had bought this elsewhere a few years ago and couldn’t find anywhere until now. I like the color; exactly as pictured. At times the food doesn’t filter thru so I have to shake it forward but no big deal for me.

One of my cats just reaches his paw in there and it comes. I love that you can lift the top to refill and it snaps back on easily. I have 3 and very durable.

Food only drops down once. When the cat empties the bowl, it stays empty and the food stays in the hopper. I now have it propped at a 45 degree angle and I cut out the lip of the hopper with a sharp knife — hoping that will do the trick and I can still use it for my long weekend away.

But if you are reading the reviews (as I wish I had) — keep looking. This doesn’t work as described.

Love this, used to have the automatic food and water ones, after a couple years the flaps that control the portion control eventually broke off and it became a free feeder anyways so this is better because it holds way more and is easier to clean and the automatic water fountains get annoying over time because they don’t seem to clean well anymore and you get tired of having to take it apart and clean fur out of the nasty pump and this holds a ton more water, so for a lot of reasons these are way easier, cheaper and bigger.

With two cats I maybe have to fill both once every two weeks, but maybe not even that often, especially on the food. For everyone who has a problem with pets knocking them over, I’ve always had what’s pictured at the end of my island to keep all my pet stuff in the baskets and these two fit perfectly in there so there won’t be any knocking over.

Think it was two target or Wal-Mart shelves and baskets I just left a shelf out of each for the feeders to fit. The water does make a kind of loud glug sound when the level goes down and it fills (it’s not often), it startled my cats the first time or two, now there’s no reaction and they continue on so its not a problem.

I got the largest size ones, the 3 gallon for water and 12 lb for food and they are the same size. I don’t get all the bad cap reviews for the water one, maybe the cap issues are for the smaller models? I’m not sure what all those bad reviews are about, the model I have the cap is normal and easy, but I don’t over tighten it.

I like the structure but not the design of the clips to hold the top to the legs. Only one of the clips snapped into place no matter how patient I was nor how hard I tried to get the top to snap on. It just won’t.

I’m very disappointed in that. I will ask someone stronger than I am to try to get it to snap in place and as a last resort, I’ll super-glue it in place so my boxer boy doesn’t knock it off. The height is perfect for him so I appreciate that! The size is just larger than the silicone placemats available from all the manufacturers by an inch or so which requires me to buy a new mat which will be much too big for the area where I feed my boxer.

That is also disappointing and will be expensive. The mat will cost as much if not more than the feeding station! For his health and comfort of my dog, I’m pleased with this raised feeder but for it’s construction and odd size, I’m not thrilled at all.

This works well to bring the dog bowls up for my dogs eating and drinking at a more comfortable height. However the design is annoying in they way that the legs extend out from the top. The legs stick out *just* far enough to that visually you don’t notice it and we were constantly running into it and end up spilling the water all over the place.

We rarely kicked the bowls when they were on the floor so something about this design makes it seem like it is narrower than it is. We finally moved it to a less convenient location but at least we aren’t kicking it constantly.

This listing says for a large dog. No way is this for a large dog. Small to sm/med dog maybe. Frame is very cheap plastic, falls apart very easy. Bowls are really small for even a medium size dog. There are better items out there.

I’d stay away from this one. I do not recommend it. A waste of money.
