20 Best Catchers Shin Guards (2022 Updated)

We stepped up to the big boy brand All Star this year and are very impressed. He grew 4″ (again) this year and these seemed a good compromise between something of a lesser quality and the All Star System 7 Axis, which if money were no object he would have preferred.

Thought being if he grows a couple of more inches (6′ now) he’ll need 17. 5″ guards and we can make the leap to the 7 Axis then. Unlike other companies guards the difference in the 7 and 7 axis are meaningful to high level catchers, its not just marketing/colors.

The Axis flatter knee (much like the unavailable to public Nike) is a benefit when sliding laterally to block, the new knee area strap arrangement also seems like it would be more comfortable but he has no complaints about the 7s.

Long story short get the All Star 7 or 7 axis the player will love them!.

Purchased for my 12u player. He is 5’4” and his shin length aligned with the length described for these leg guards. They have a quality design and good protection for the player. They cover a longer amount of the leg from our previous leg guards however as kids grow these provide a great fit.

Son loves them. Uses them for college baseball. Great product

All-Star gear never disappoints! 6’2” 205 lbs and they fit/feel great!

Seems much lighter then the older model. Highly recommend! Customer service at the location was outstanding

Product was as expected. Used regularly in Krav Maga training. Light yet strong enough to block kicks. Only drawback is that in Krav Maga, we wear shoes so the instep pad is designed for bare feet and therefore the pad is left unsupported on top of the foot.

Still works great just by readjust the pads as necessary during the workout.

hi product is good delivery on time only problem Is they are to big for my daughter she is 11 years old and it did say one size fits all unfortunately this is not the case she has a big full contact fight this Saturday night and no nice venum shin gaurds to wear now.

Our 12 year old has grown 4 inches in the past year, and theres no sign its slowing down! Weve had to replace almost all his gear. Since catchers gear is pricey we held off as long as we could. Hes just over 54(all legs) and this set fits him great, with some room to grow.

Protective padding and plastic inserts definitely a better/higher quality than his 9-12 size set. Didnt need any break in time, comfortable first game played, and reasonable price.

Overall the gear is spot on for it’s description. The shin guards is the hardest part of the gear to size up for Youth baseball. My son is 6 years old and about 50 inches tall. The shin gauds are bulky for him.

I think as he gets a little taller this year he’ll grow into them. The chest protector fits well for him. The head gear we had some initial issues with due to it snapping in the back, but we figured it out and is working well so far through 15 games this season.

Everything is adjustable and he will be able to grow into it.

My kid has just started to use his gear but so far everything works great. Considering this was a damaged box product it was half price of the showroom model made it a good value. Gear inside box was NOT damaged.

The product is manufactured with quality and user safety in mind. These products will be our first-line gear from now on. I have always admired Hayabusa, but was reluctant to make the purchase due to its price.

I felt the price triumphed the quality of the product. That’s not the case here. The quality exceeds the listed price. I will not hesitate to purchase anything Hayabusa supplies when it comes to the price.

This gear is excellent and exciting. I have never purchased gear before so I only used old gear , so this is my first set of gloves. I got all the protective geared I felt I need to prevent injuring myself and training partners, and I got lucky with the sale so everything is a matching set.

You can fully open the straps and take the velcro out of the secure loop to let the gear air out well and clean after use.

Shin guards have held up great and give great protection. They do not move around when sparring and feel very secure. I got a medium at first but they were too big around my calves, so I exchanged for a small and they fit great.

Once again, they exchange process is very smooth.

Bought these to help a friend get better mechanics and velo pitching. I’m a center fielder at heart and am in no way a catcher but these are very comfortable. Haven’t caught since little league but find nothing to complain about with these.

Solid price and great fit for a 5’7” 165lbs guy. Definitely would recommend at the price point for sure!.

Bought these for my 12 yr. old who outgrew his youth equipment and is ready for “intermediate” equip. I knew they would be a little too big but I thought the advertised adjustability would do. Unfortunately, the only thing movable on these leg guards is the knee pad.

The video showing the adjustable shin pad and the mention of a detachable/adjustable toe cap isn’t correct. Maybe we received a prior year model, but the toe cap is sewn on and has no adjustability. and it is very long.

Other manufacturers 15. 5″ models fit him fine but these are too bulky for him right now. The long toe cap and upper thigh guard need to be removable for these intermediate ages. These pads are also advertised as “intermediate” but labeled ” Adult 15.

5″ “. I am not sure if that’s part of the problem. Nice leg guards but a little too large for kids transitioning from youth equipment.

These are good leg guards. Would like to point out though that there is a big size difference between the Easton youth size we had. They are both noticeably wider and longer, so if the youth size fits just right and you are looking for a new set thinking your child will grow into it, chances are these will be a little too big initially.

Awesome shin guards. *when placing the molds on, be careful not to put the gauze on to tight. When done molding, place face down and DO NOT put the velco straps on until the molds are done molding. Customer service is amazing.

Arrived last night. Watched the video and read the instructions that came with it. If you have ever used any of the EVOSHIELD guards then you know how amazing this stuff is. A true custom fit that is comfortable and has the highest level of protection.

My daughter loves this system. The instructions were easy to follow and easy to execute. Once cured it was easy to assemble the full leg guard system. She says it moves with her without shifting and protects well while letting her move freely.

DONT BUY THIS PRODUCT OR ANYTHING FROM BOOMBAH! THEY DON”T STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT. We ordered this gear and the first time we tried it on we had a boy put on the shin guards first (with knee pads) then the chest protector then the helmet.

The snap on the helmet broke when we tried unsnap it the very first time we tried to put this on. We didn’t even get 1 pitch indoors to try it, we were indoors and on carpet, so it was tried on but never used.

We took the gear off and shipped it back for a refund. Obviously if it won’t last 5 minutes we’re not going to be comfortable risking it lasting 1 month let alone a whole season. They e-mailed me and told we would get a refund for the mask and chest protector but not the shin guards because they were “used.

” Boombah what planet are you on? Things break I get it, but when the gear won’t last 5 minutes you should do the right thing and take the whole set back. They shipped the shin guards back to me without talking to me about this.

I have called twice this week, once on Tuesday and once on Thursday (I was assured I would get a call back right away), both times been told a manager would call me back. Nothing. They said the shin guards have scratches all over them, well guess what, I got them back last night and you can’t see anything on there, I would post pictures on here if I could.

Save yourself the headaches and hassle don’t buy this stuff. Boombah, show you are a reputable company and make this right. You sold me something defective and all I want is my money back. I have been buying from you for 10+ years and can’t remember ever returning anything.

So far so good. I live in the northeastern U. S. and my catchers gear arrived in early March. Took the new gear to our indoor winter workouts and gave it a test drive. Looks and feels great. I like the coverage I get from the shin guards, especially.

I took a foul ball off the inside of my knee last year and there was a lack of protection in the spot where I was hit – that doesn’t seem to be a problem with these. My only issue now is that I need this snow to go away so we can test them in the outdoors!.

I bought the gear for my daughter. She didn’t like the fit at all. I tried to return it, the same week my father passed away. I accidentally put a return shipping label from a different company on the box.

Now that company can’t find my shipment. So I bought $300 worth of catchers gear from you that I can’t return to you. I don’t have the gear, I don’t have the money, and I had to spend another $300 to buy a different brand of gear.

Velcro enclosure is super easy for little ones just getting used to the equipment. Lightweight enough to keep them mobile, yet protected. I bought 6 pairs for my league and I will be buying more if we need to replace any.

I looked far and wide for youth shin guards for months and jumped all over this deal when I saw it. These will fit most 5-9 year olds of average height.

Probably not as nice as an evoshield one, but my son prefers nice. Is not moldable…which is the old real difference. Solid and protective

I never got the correct leg guard after 2 different purchases and even a complimentary overnight shipping replacement was wrong.

Great foot protection. Feels snug and right when running with it.

My son is a senior in high school. We’ve had all brands of gear. Boombah is definitely superior. He love’s the fit. Extremely durable. And, it cleans up great. He had to have the white, so I scotch guarded the cap out of it when we got it.

Now, when it gets dirty, we just run to the car wash and it comes out looking great. Would definitely recommend!!!.

I am a Bucket Dad and catch for my daughter, who is a 14U pitcher. Did it without shin guards for a long time and then got a fastball flush on my shin and decided it was time. LOL! Very good looking, well made product.

Second set of Boombah catching gear. Daughter really liked the first set. Looked at all brands when buying the second set but, still went with Boombah. She loves her new set. Great choice.

All Star gear is great quality. Baseball Savings made it easy to browse, compare and select right equipment for our son. The chest protector is not ideal for smaller size catcher that my 8 year son is.

Due to the plastic chest plate sewn inside the padding. It is not flexible to fit more snug like my son prefers from his Easton Youth chest protector. It pushes up on his helmet causing vision issues.

He will need to grow a little bit taller before this is not an issue. The helmet and leg guards fit perfect and true to size.

The gear itself is great and exactly what we were needing. The gear fit extremely well and has some room for growth as my player grows. The only issue was the wrong color equipment was sent and based on the need we had to move forward with using it.

We couldn’t get the replacement for over 3 weeks. It is definitely not the color we wanted and doesn’t match or correlate with any of our team colors. As for the equipment itself you couldn’t ask for a better set.

It is a very well made product and will get lots of use over the next couple years.

16 year old 6 foot 3 Sophomore catcher is in love with his new gear. Comfortable and sturdy. The chest protector is hard and he feels very comfortable behind the plate with his team pitching high 80’s low 90’s.

Shin guards have a knee pocket which helps during long games. Thanks for making such quality gear! The turn around time was quick too. Perfect Christmas gift!.

Our students love these shin guards. They mold to your shin and the straps have padding which helps to keep them in place. No more adjusting! We have some 240lb guys and they love them. Easy on and off.

I had the previous version of this shin guard, and it lasted a couple of years for me. Loved it, super comfortable and able to withstand full force of a kick. You feel the pressure of the impact, but without the associated pain.

I bought 2 pairs of the new version, and they feel even more premium than the old version I had.

They are so comfortable and never have to worry about them sliding up. So worth the price that ive bought two pairs. If your thinking about buying a pair, make the switch and try it out for yourself

These are the most comfortable shin guards I have ever worn. I like that they don’t feel bulky, but do the job of protecting my shins. These are definitely my go- to shin guards from now on.

Good quality and exactly like the photo. However, It doesn’t fit my size so I have to send it back. I like the basic style and this one is exactly what I was looking for but it was just not my size

Great fit for little legs. Good impact absorption. Does not slide around in the sock due to ankle strap.

These are a good fit for my 13 year old, perfect for softball. Love that there is also an ankle guard with these. Quality is good.

There is really nothing negative to say about these. They fit great, arrived early, and work perfectly fine. They are comfortable as well as breathable. Strongly recommend.

I have a condition created by poisonous insect bites above my ankle over a decade ago. Flare ups cause intense swelling of the feet, ankles, and shins and the slightest impact can cause skin to peel in strips, and wound care can takes weeks.

My son plays varsity football and got leg whipped making a tackle. He ended up with a deep bone bruise on the outer part of his right calf. His trainers couldn’t find a brace that would work, so I bought this for him and it worked great.

He has huge calves, so this was able to mold to the side of his leg easily and he used it for practice and a few games until he was fully recovered.

The Leg Guard works just like all the other Evoshield baseball protection products like the Elbow Guard. I was able to custom mold the Leg Guard for my son. It looks and functions just like you see on the major leaguers.

First experience with EvoShield for my 12 year old son. Product is excellent and the custom fit is perfect. Mold process went smoothly and fitting video makes everything super easy. Final product is rock hard.
