20 Best Ceramic Cat Fountain (2022 Updated)

As with any fountain, you have to do a lot of maintenance. It’s a great product, my cats love it, it is very quiet, and it is relatively easy to clean, but you have to clean it often and change the charcoal filter often.

I have multiple cats, so that means every 10 days. The reason has to do with the high bacterial load in cats’ mouths (I am a veterinarian). Everything eventually gets slimy from a bacterial film. I take it apart completely to clean it on hot soapy water.

I even pry off the blue plate on the motor and clean the little propeller inside with a toothbrush. While I am cleaning it, I rinse the new carbon filter with cold water until it runs clear. Then I let it soak another 5 minutes in cold water.

I rinse everything and reassemble. The process takes about 20 minutes. Every other time I replace the foam ring that goes around the motor. Please believe me, everything gets very slimy, including the filter, but that is not the product’s fault.

It’s all that bacteria in cats’ mouths. If you only have one cat, you may not have to clean it as often. If you don’t want to commit to that level of cleaning or spend the money on carbon filters, this product is not for you, nor is any drinking fountain.

For me it is worth it. I have a cat with a chronic urinary condition, so he needs to consume extra water to be asymptomatic, otherwise he pees outside the litter box, including on the carpet. Maintaining the fountain is easier and cheaper than cleaning the carpet, and you don’t have to put up with the smell.

As a veterinarian, I highly recommend this product as the best fountain I have found to date. Just be prepared to maintain it faithfully.

In 2016, my cat was diagnosed with early stage kidney disease and it was recommended to provide a fountain for her to encourage hydration. I’ve bought three different plastic fountains since then. I was very happy with the two Catit Brand fountains I had purchased.

However I saw several experts state that ceramic or stainless steel fountains were better for water quality and pet health. Since Chewy’s always sends me Birthday coupons for my Fur Babies, I invested in the more expensive Ceramic Fountain in May 2021 and my pets LOVE it! I have two fountains set up on the main floor of the house and both cats prefer the ceramic fountain versus the plastic one.

These are easily cleaned in the dishwasher and a quick rinse in the sink will remove any debris or film that develops in the bowl. Filters last longer than other models as well. The only drawback is that ceramic is ultimately more breakable if dropped than plastic.

Last summer, my sister was planning to move out with intent on taking her cat with her, and after lab worked showed that both of our cats were developing crystals in their urine, I decided we needed a second fountain so that neither of our cats is without a fountain.

I had a Drinkwell Multi-Tier fountain for quite a number of years (although I stopped using it for some time before resuming, but it still works great!), and both cats love drinking from it. While I was very satisfied with it too, it came with a number of drawbacks: 1) it’s overall design made it a chore to hand clean due to all the nooks and crannies (and my family won’t let me mix pet bowls with human bowls, so I can’t use the dishwasher), 2) our cats seem to prefer drinking at the back edge of the upper tier and thus, spilling water everywhere, and 3) it’s made of plastic – was not a huge deal at first, but after my cat developed feline acne, and his vet told me to avoid using plastics for him.

Reasons 1 and 3 are why I stopped using the fountain for a long time, and the recent lab work was why we resumed using it (sister’s cat also started drinking A LOT from the faucet and will get mad if we don’t turn on the water for her), but like I mentioned, sister was moving out with her cat, so I started researching to purchase a second fountain that is 1) easy to clean, 2) a design that will minimize and/or catch spills when our cats drink and work with their drinking habits, and 3) not plastic (also wanted to avoid stainless steel because they didn’t seem to like water in the stainless steel bowls we have for our dogs).

Having had a positive experience with my first Drinkwell fountain, I initially had hope to get another Drinkwell fountain that uses the same filter as the Multi-tier fountain so that I didn’t have to purchase different filters for each fouontain, but none matched what I was looking for.

I looked into other brands too, but again, couldn’t find anything that matched what I was looking for or it was way out of my price range. It came down to this or the Drinkwell Pagoda fountain, both of which are ceramic and have a centralized tower with a “bowl” on top and spouts.

I ended up choosing Avalon for its round design over the Pagoda’s rectangular one as I feel it would be easier to clean. After setting it up, our cats actually did not want to use it for some time, but were curious about it.

I would say it was about 2 weeks or so after I set it up that I first saw my sister’s cat drink from it, and it worked! She drank from the edge of the top of the tower, and the droplets she flicked from lapping water fell into the main bowl below instead of around it.

My cat has since started drinking from it too, and no more spills! This fountain may have many small components (inside the tower), but it is overall still MUCH easier to clean than the Multi-Tier fountain.

Both fountains use the same exact pump type too, so I will say this: I find that the pump is the most difficult component to clean in this fountain, but it is the easiest component to clean in our Multi-Tier fountain.

Pump is also pretty quiet (same with the one in our Multi-tier), and for the most part, I only really hear the water sounds. I haven’t noticed any black spots in the 4+ months that I’ve had this fountain as others may have complained about, and so far, it’s functioning just fine for me.

Having two filters to worry about is a little annoying to me, but it really isn’t a big deal. I don’t find the filters overly expensive either. So all in all, it’s a great product, and I got what I needed for a good price (this and other Drinkwell fountains were on sale when I purchased it, was about $51+tax at the time)!.

Had high hopes for this fountain. I had been using the basic plastic ones for years and decided it was time for an upgrade. I felt confident spending a lot of money, hoping more $ meant better product, right? Wrong.

I am constantly cleaning this fountain, even more than I was with my plastic ones. The filter lasts maybe 5 days before I have to replace it and the SLIME!!! I am constantly scrubbing this thing because of the slime build up.

I hate to say it, but this purchase was a big bust. I will be donating this and sticking with my plastic fountains until I can find something better. Not worth the weekly cleaning and the money for constant filters!.

My kitty is turning 19 yrs old and is starting to have some kidney issues. I bought her this fountain to encourage her to drink more and to help keep her water clean. She is very much a lady and doesn’t put her mouth directly into the water bowls she drinks from.

Instead she cups her paw and dips it into her drinking water and then drinks it from her paw. So her regular water bowls would get bits of kitty litter that had stuck to her paw and even her shedded fur if she had groomed herself before getting a drink.

I had to have several water bowls all over our home and was checking and cleaning several times a day. After setting this fountain up for her she is staying to drink the water for up to 20 and thirty minutes at a time, and even starting to drink from the top of the fountain with her mouth directly in the water! This fountain along w her prescription for Hills Science Diet for kidney failure wet and dry food has actually paused her kidney failure according to her bloodwork.

Her veterinarian was absolutely amazed at her progress! He had never seen a turn around this dramatic in a cat her age. It’s very easy to keep clean and if you keep the levels of water up it runs in complete silence! It cannot be beat at the price Chewy is selling it for! ***Make sure to read all of the maintenance and care instructions carefully and follow them.

*** This fountain is amazing, and not hard to clean or use at all. I can be put in the dishwasher! The filter cartridges are very inexpensive as well. Plus it is not an eye sore at all even though it’s plastic.

We purchased this because we need running water for a picky hound AND a filter to help our other furry friends, because our hound eats and drinks and leaves crumbs in the water dish. There is no filter to protect the pump from getting debris in it.

The 2 grates that remove on the sides, the holes are so big everything goes through. It would have to be the size of a quarter not to slip through. There were no filters to purchase for these side grates.

The pump is not strong enough to suck in all the debris left behind either. We found we had to wash this DAILY with our messy eater which would be a lot easier with a single water dish then disassembling this daily to make sure we don’t kill the pump with the little bits of food debris it manages to suck in.

A big waste of time and money! Very disappointed! And despite our vigilance in keeping this clean and keeping this filled above the line (which is harder than one would think). The pump has officially died.

I will never purchase a fountain like this again. When shopping for a fountain be sure to check out the strength of the pump, and whether it has filters to protect it from sucking hair and debris IN or just filters for water going out.

I am finding most of these pumps are identical, and most are too weak to actually do what they claim! Very disappointing! I would spend more money to get a good product but have yet to find one that satisifies our needs! I am sure a cat owner would find this fountain suitable, or a cleaner dog.

If yoy have the normal messy dog who gets food in the water dish, this is not for you!.

I purchased this fountain in 2020. It is now 2022. I changed the water once/week initially and int he last year twice/week. I washed the bowl and parts each time and put all but the pump in the dishwasher twice a month.

I also changed the filters per instructions. The instructions state not to be concerned over some black residue or small chunks of charcoal. I also used ONLY filtered tap water (Franke water filter that is also changed regularly).

I experienced the following problems: 1) A black ring formed along the inside of the bowl that despite scrubbing (used Bon AMI prior to putting in dishwasher and a scrubbing sponge and water every time I replaced the water).

2) Pump quite working, replaced twice. Finally took apart the pump and cleaned it as well – found lots of charcoal clogging the pump. Still had to ‘hand start’ the fan in the pump to get it working every time.

3) Stopped using the charcoal filter to see if fountain still worked (yes) and saw charcoal bits stuck in foam filter that surrounds the pump two weeks later. 4) Saw formation of mold on inside of canister that holds the charcoal filter on a few occasions (after only a few days of use which is why I cleaned the fountain so often).

Considering the expense to purchase, the expense of buying and replacing the filters (and the pumps) and the time and effort needed to clean the unit, this fountain is certainly not worth it. My cat loves to play in water so I turn on the faucet for a minute or two.

I give her clean, fresh water every day and don’t worry about her picking up something nasty from the fountain.

I was hesitant to purchase this fountain after the fiasco of purchasing a plastic one that would develop a slimy, pink film within two days of cleaning. I read many of the reviews before making the purchase and looked at MANY fountains.

Most of the reviews for this fountain were good, some not so. I was hoping my cat who is not a fan of water would use it. He was never much of a water drinker, but stopped drinking water altogether after the plastic fountain disappointment.

To date, he has not drank out of the Seascape fountain in my presence, but has been curious enough to come by to smell it. Maybe I just haven’t caught him using it yet :). My other cat, who is a water drinker, was initially fearful as he is about everything, but within a few hours he began to use it.

He drinks from it multiple times a day. He drinks from the base, the top of the fountain and as the water is rolling down the dome, so it seems to be a hit with him. As for me, although I’ve only had it for a couple of weeks, I give it two thumbs up.

As many others have mentioned, I like that it is easy to clean. There are no unreachable, intricate parts that cannot be cleaned. You can buy a small brush to clean it, but not necessary. A flexible sponge will suffice.

It maintains the water fresh for a long time. The filters don’t need to be changed as often. Yes, you do need to buy two filters which will add to your pet’s expenses, however as I mentioned the filters don’t need to be changed as often as with other fountains.

A week after I received it, I cleaned the fountain, without changing the filters. I wanted to see if there was any build up anywhere, and to my surprise the water didn’t feel slimy and there was no build up.

It does have a plastic piece that encases one of the filters, but it can be easily cleaned. It is obviously a little heavier with water, and it is a little tricky to get it to the sink without spilling water, as the water level needs to be maintain to prevent the motor from being damaged.

It a VERY QUIET fountain, which I love, and it is soothing to look at. Even if your pet doesn’t use it, the fountain has a simple design that can function as decoration. I’m happy with it, and best of all, at least one of my cats is using it.

This fountain was my final stop in the quest to get my cat to drink more water. He doesn’t care for plain bowls of water, and I’ve tried the cheap plastic fountains with the little flowers, but my cat kept having these fits of coughing when drinking.

I finally realized it was the fountain causing him to accidentally inhale bits of water. This fountain doesn’t cause that problem, I think because the water flows over the ceramic without falling or splashing.

It’s not the easiest thing to clean, and the filters require a lot of rinsing to get the extra carbon dust out, but overall the design is good. The fountain and the water pump can be totally disassembled for complete cleaning, unlike some other designs that just keep collecting gunk in crevices.

My cat loves it; he uses it all the time and it keeps him well hydrated!.

Leonard Degrasse TYSON and Brian Carl SAGAN, the astrophysikitties, are very fussy about their water since we moved. I had a reverse osmosis system in the house where I adopted them, and they had a dispenser for their water.

We had to move to the Vegas area, which has incredibly hard water (19gpg), and they hated it. Within the first few months, The Boyz got UTIs because, I think, they weren’t hydrating enough, plus the water is mineral heavy.

I bought a Drinkwell 360 that worked really well, but despite my diligent cleaning there was a lot of scale and build up on the plastic. I bought a house with soft water, and sadly bought off-brand filters, and the fountain got worse.

I decided a good ceramic fountain would help with the cleaning given the water quality issues, but The Boyz like falling water. I splurged on the Pagoda to see what might happen (they are my furbabies, after all).

They didn’t like it at first for a concerning 3 days or so, but after a week they love lapping from the bubbler, and slurping from the falls. People have commented on the noise, but it is no louder than the 360 after cleaning and new filters.

I find the sound soothing, but I don’t even notice it with the TV on as I sit barely 6 feet away. It doesn’t hold as much water as the 360, and evaporates quickly since it’s so dry here, but so far I haven’t noticed any build-up of lime and scale like I did before.

Cleaning is a bit of a chore, with many small parts, but I’ve always devoted as much time and attention to my four-legged family as I would the two-legged variety. It’s a labor of love. It’s also an excellent water source for them, and it’s really stylish to boot with available colors to fit any decor.

My cats seem to like this fountain, but I do not. The water noise is really loud. There is no flow control or water ramp like other Drinkwell fountains, so you just have water noise all the time. I remember now this is why I stopped using Drinkwell fountains years ago.

That, and our old one was difficult to clean. After having two other products that both failed within a month, I went with a Drinkwell because at least I know they work. I’m not a huge fan of ceramic and would have prefered stainless steel, but I do like the color, and at least it is not too difficult to clean.

I came up with a compromise for my cats: I’m using an Alexa smart plug so I can turn off the fountain by voice command when it is driving me crazy. I also included it in my nighttime Alexa routine so when I turn off the downstairs lights, the fountain comes on.

My cats don’t seem to mind either way, though my oldest apparently needs to drink all of the water on the top piece after it shuts off. The other two prefer to just drink from below. Unfortunately, my dog does not seem to like the fountain.

She is a 45 pound lab/Border collie mix, so I think it’s just a bit small for her to easily get a drink. She prefers her plain water bowl, which I would use for the cats too if they wouldn’t always splash water everywhere.

They have been mostly leaving her water alone and focusing on their fountain, which is what they are supposed to do. I just wish it wasn’t so loud!.

I ordered the Pagoda Fountain for my three-year-old cat. The assembly instructions were clear, and the fountain was easy to assemble. I placed the fountain next to my cat’s water bowl, to make sure she understood that this was her water fountain.

At first, she was curious, observing the moving water, but no matter how many times we encouraged her to drink from the Pagoda, she was wary and continued drinking from her trusty water bowl. As she is quite timid, I understood that she needed time to adjust.

I patiently waited for her to let me know when she was ready to drink from the new fountain. Her water bowl remained at its regular location, as a backup, while I continued to encourage her to try the Pagoda.

A week later, it was time to clean the fountain. At this point she had not yet taken a drink from it. But, to my delight, when I unplugged the unit and lifted the tower, she decided to take a good long drink from the large bowl.

After I cleaned and reassembled the fountain, I returned it to its location and plugged it back in. I am happy to report that moments later she approached the fountain and took a drink. I have retired the old drinking bowl, as she no longer needs it.

She is now drinking from her new Pagoda Fountain with confidence.

I have owned mine for several months. I wanted to speak to some of the negative reviews about the pump dying, and to the questions about how often to refill. Pump dying: Please note the pump has a tiny switch, barely noticeable, with symbols + / -.

When cleaning I didn’t realize I had slid the switch towards the minus sign which reduces the flow so low that it will not move the water up the flower. I thought it had died, but my husband inspected it and showed me the switch.

How often to fill: Please note, fountains should not be viewed as a convenience item for the pet owner to not have to worry about the pet’s water dish. The purpose of this item is to encourage your cat to drink more water.

I assumed I would simply have to keep topping it off with water once or twice a week and only need to pick it up to clean every two weeks, based on manufacturer’s instructions. My cats stopped drinking from it and when I picked it up, I was greeted with foul odor and strange creamy mold growth on the filter itself.

I was expecting way too much from the filter. This will need to be cleaned WEEKLY, and topped off with more water midweek. When cleaning, give the filter a good rinsing, and replace it every 4th week.

(If you have more than one cat, you may need to replace the filter more often. I have two cats, and two fountains, and the filters are good for 4 weeks. ) Don’t forget to clean out the pump itself; either run it in a bowl of hot water/vinegar/soap or buy the cleaning kit and take it apart to clean the insides.

The fountain holds a lot of water, more than 12 cups. When water level reaches the bottom of the viewing window, it’s time to add more water, to make sure the water level doesn’t drop too low for the pump to perform.

The manufacturer says to “thoroughly clean every two weeks”. This might be true if you are dumping it and thoroughly rinsing it out at the one-week mark; but it would be a mistake to just keep topping it off with water for two weeks without picking it up and dumping it.

After my experience, I will be always be cleaning weekly. It was pretty bad, and one of my cats still won’t drink from the fountain because it got rancid that one time. He goes to the dog bowl. I still recommend the fountain, it is healthy for the cats, and it is actually convenient during the work week to just top it off midweek.

But, it is a bit more work on the weekend to clean it out as opposed to just cleaning a water dish. But like I said, the fountain is not intended to be a convenience item; it is intended to encourage cats to drink more water.

Also the filter is not intended to keep the water completely sanitary for two weeks; it only improves the water quality and helps keep debris out of the pump. When I changed my expectations I was happier with it.

P. S. Stainless steel is healthier, it inhibits bacteria/mold growth. But it will still need to be kept clean just as frequently.

I’ve had mine in operation now for ~10months. I’ve used tap & bottled & Reverse Osmosis water to fill the basin & got the least mold growth with the RO (even bottled/filtered water can often leave leave mineral buildup depending on the source water prior to filtration).

I fill the unit about halfway btw min/max lines and am sure to not ever let it get too far below min. I can just continue to top off the contents by slowly adding more RO water right onto the top (no need to open the unit).

This process will get me 2+ weeks use without any slime/mold growth (I’ve yet to really test the limits on how long it can go beyond 3weeks without disassembly & cleaning but it’d probably go even longer if I pushed it).

When I clean, I use friction on every surface under running tap water (w a sponge or brush), then I tap it mostly dry & apply to every surface a DIY bleach solution (2% bleach) with a fine-mist spray bottle – including the exterior of the pump & the reusable pump filter.

I skip spraying the disposable filter, but I do rinse it under running tap water and re-use it for at least another 3-6weeks (or 3total tank-fills over 10-12weeks). I let the bleach solution sit/dry for at least 10min on the unit, then rinse with tap water and fill with RO water for my cat’s drinking purposes.

I’ve never had a problem with the motor or noise or mold overgrowth with this process.

This is the best fountain I have found so far for my two cats… and I have tried many. The assembly is easy, the cleaning is easier, and the cord is long enough to avoid any issues with finding a place to plug it in.

This fountain is also by far the quietest one that I have used. It only really starts to make noise if the water level gets low. Having two cats, they go through enough water that most cat-specific fountains with lower volume capacity require refilling every single day.

This fountain is large enough that I can usually just top it off every 2-3 days without issue. My one complaint about this product is that the top piece which the water runs over is not securely attached.

I mean the piece fits in there pretty snug, but it’s not snug enough to stop one of my cats from pulling it out to play with it. I’ve had this issue with fountains before: if there is a detachable part, my cat will try to detach it! I wish that it actually snapped into place rather than just fitting in tightly to prevent this problem.

Luckily, as we’ve had the fountain for a couple months now, she seems to have grown bored of using this as a toy and only pulls it out every once in a while as opposed to every time I put it back in there.

However, I just wish it wasn’t an issue in the first place! P. S. my cat also likes to play with the fountain by moving it away from the wall. Just in case anyone has a mischievous feline like me, I attached some command strip Velcro to the back of the unit and to the wall to keep it in place.

We’ve had this fountain for about 2 months. Yes, it gets loud when the water is low. To me, it’s a good indicator to put water in it. We have to add water a few times a day. Our dog would rather drink from this vs her water dish.

She can empty it. We have hard water and wasn’t using filtered at first. But after noticing how short the filter life was and how bad they got from our tap water, we started using filtered water. That has helped the filter life last longer.

I had noticed that the waterfall wasn’t as big or strong as it once was. I soaked the pump in a water/vinegar mixture and it’s back to normal. It’s works great, you just have to maintain it. It does have some small nooks and cranies that are hard to clean.

5 young cats who’ve been through unspeakable trauma and in need of serious hydration since trauma causes us all to be dehydrated & the litter box never lies. In 3-4 days of receiving this fountain, all 5 cats are drinking more, even 1 cat who wont approach anything whatsoever that emits the sound of power vibrations.

She was the 1st one to drink from it-so I’m sold. And again. the litter box doesnt lie-it’s working to re-hydrate some really exhausted cats. Assembly-10 min tops; easy and nothing to put together that requires much thought.

Easy and well made especially for the price. Well made system. **We all know that the real question about these fountains is the maintenance. Cat Mate shell plastic fountain has an option to add a second filter pack inside the base; this doubles the filtration of the water, making it a better filtration system if both are used.

Get them! The water will last longer as “clean water”, you’ll feel less guilty if you are a few days late on changing them, and you wont have to clean the pump as often as long as you watch for the signs.

The added option of including “FOUNTAIN FILTER replacement 3-pack” by Pioneer Pet is a no brainer for me, even if I had 1 cat, I want them to have clean water, no different than what I drink. Using spring water or filtered water for all pet fountains is also a no-brainer.

Water from our faucets is considered toxic and a health hazard if you really look at what’s in there. Don’t be duped by your county/government “stats”. Get filtered water and the higher the ph the better!.

I have had this fountain for 5 years. For half that time, it served 5 cats; since then it continues to serve 3 cats. They have all loved it, whether they drink from the spouting water or from the bowl, and I’ve never had a single issue or problem with it’s performance.

I absolutely recommend this water fountain for any cat parent! I’ve seen a few negative reviews, and I honestly believe that the issues these reviews mention are all consequences of improper assembly or maintenance of the fountain by the owners, and have nothing to do with the fountain itself.

So, I’d like to address the complaint about water all over a user’s kitchen floor after using the fountain for about a month, and the complaint that the fountain is very loud. All you have to do to keep it running properly and quietly is to keep an eye on the plastic filter grate (where the water flows back for re-uptake to the charcoal filter and then back out of the spout).

This can get clogged with cat hair or pieces of kibble (one of my cats likes to periodically drop a piece of her dry food in the fountain bowl). It slips right out, you can rinse it clean, and pop it back in.

Then — once a month (slightly more frequently if you have 3 or more cats) — unplug it, take it apart, wash each component in the dishwasher or by hand with dish soap & water, change the charcoal filter, and put it back together.

So easy. Just make sure when you re-assemble it (or put it together for the first time) that the plastic tube is fitted properly over the hole in the pump (where the water will flow through) in order to get the right water pressure,, and keep the fountain full.

When you notice that the reservoir is empty, refill it. The fountain only makes a loud noise when the water level is too low.

I have had my fountain for eight years this month. It is absolutely wonderful. Has worked without fault – running nearly constantly for all that time. Made it possible for me to work out of town for the week without worrying about the cats shriveling up.

I believe mine has lasted because of two things: 1) I always use filtered water (Glacier machine reverse osmosis) in it to avoid mineral buildup from tap water. 2) I clean it at least monthly using only nylon brushes (two bottle type brushes from a set made for Drinkwell, one round dish brush, and one cheap toothbrush) used only for the fountain, and No Cleaning Products (no soap, detergent or bleach).

After brushing, a ten minute soak in our generously chlorinated tap water is plenty to keep it clean. Once in 8 years I had to toss in a tablespoon of vinegar to break up the “kitty slime”. These precautions protect the pump, the plastic, and are safer for pets.

Living in the California desert where it gets extremely hot and dry, the reservoir is only enough for 5-6 days – not because the cats drink it all, but because the water evaporates. I remove the reservoir when I am at home because it once got some algae growth that was a pain to clean.

I cover the back of the basin with two dvd cases when the reservoir is off. The fountain is not silent. The pump hums, and the water splashes. Mine is in my bedroom, so I turn it off at night when I am home.

Over the years, the fountain has gotten noisier. There is some vibration between the parts. I thought of trying to use a piece of an exercise band as a gasket, but it wasn’t annoying enough to bother.

This fountain is great. I would ask Drinkwell to consider offering a fitted cover for when the reservoir is off, and to design some sort of gasket to reduce vibration. This fountain has never leaked or failed.

The only water splashed outside the bowl was due to cats playing with the stream. I would buy another without hesitation, and would recommend to everyone.

I have 2 of these fountains: one upstairs and one downstairs. These have been amazing for when we’ve been gone for trips or for a long weekend. They’re easy to clean and easy to refill. The pump just quit working on one of the fountains so I don’t know if I can just find a replacement pump or if I need to splurge and buy an entirely new fountain.

The downstairs, newer fountain keeps overflowing and has probably twice a month for the last 6 months. I clean them both regularly so am unsure as to why that happens. I ended up unplugging the fountain altogether, which means stagnant water and cleaning more often unfortunately.

I ended up taking the pump out of the newer one and putting it in the older one so I still have one working fountain. I do recommend this fountain to pet owners but am hoping that you’ll have less quirks than I have had.

This was bigger than I expected but I’m 100% happy with my purchase. It offers 3 different modes, to suit cats with different drinking preferences. I bought it because I noticed my cat would often try to ‘shake’ her water bowl, tipping it over sometimes and making a mess.

She drinks quite a lot, but I could tell she wasn’t really happy with the still water, whereas she was fascinated whenever I ran a bath! She doesn’t drink out of taps though, like some cats I’ve met.

With the flower removed, this fountain provides a bowl with fresh filtered water that is constantly moving and she LOVES it. It’s always a gamble buying things for cats because what one loves another ignores but this has been a huge success.

I’ve stopped giving mine wet food because she prefers the dry stuff, and now I can be really confident that she’s getting enough water with a dry food only diet.

My 5 cats loved our previous cat fountain but it was time to replace it and this one seemed like a good fit. It holds quite a bit of water and the pump works really well, which keeps the fountain clean for a long time.

The only downside is that it is not very wide so my cats who like to drink from the main tank instead of the flower have a hard time fitting their heads in between. Other than that, it has been a really good purchase overall.

This fountain really is silent: the pump is suspended in the water from the top plate by a silicon tube which deadens any vibrations. You don’t even get any water trickling noise when the fountain is relatively full – only once the level drops enough that the returning water has to fall further into the reservoir.

The whiskers let you see the water level pretty easily (and are adorable). The light means you never worry about whether it’s getting empty, and ensures your cat can find it easily in the dark (and you won’t trip over it.

). It holds a lot of water. It was really easy to put together and is easy to clean. No grooves for crud to get stuck in. It seems pretty stable, although my cat is not boisterous at all so this hasn’t been put to the test thoroughly.

It might be possible when it gets quite empty, but when full you’d have to push it really quite hard in the right spot to tip it at all, so I can’t imagine many cats managing it. Finally – it did take a couple of weeks before I saw my cat using it myself, but I’ve never seen her drink so much in one go as when I finally caught her at it.

So don’t give up hope too quickly if yours doesn’t seem that interested. If I had to give a criticism I guess it would be nice to have the option of turning the light off, in case you wanted to provide one in a bedroom or something – or perhaps just two models with and without the light feature to avoid introducing extra breakable parts that need cleaning.

(Also, Pets at Home, why don’t you stock the other colours?! This one is lovely though. ).

The main reason I finally bought this fountain, after looking at it for over a year, is because one of my cats got in the habit of only wanting to drink out of a tap. While cute, it’s just not practical.

As soon as I set this up, she was drinking out of it! No joke, it was on the ground for less than 10 seconds before she started drinking from it. It still took a while for her to give up her tap obsessed ways, but it is only very occasional now.

Now, my other cat didn’t fall in love instantly. She would creep up to it, then back away slowly. This lasted a few days, then curiosity got the better of her, she tried it, and now she loves it! So both cats love it and use it every day.

It is easy to setup and easy to clean, and looks super cute. I love how the nose and whiskers light up so you can see how much water is inside, and they blink red when the water levels get too low. It is also super quiet.

The only thing we ever hear is the trickling of the water going from the little dish of water at the top back inside the unit – and that is only when the water is running low and it has a distance to fall before hitting water.

If it is topped up regularly, it is basically silent. The only downside is that because the fountain part sits quite far back, it is hard for my smaller cat to reach. She can’t reach from the side either because of the shape of the plastic ears on the outside.

She has to stand and stretch over the bowl to get to the running water. She still does it and is happy to use it, it doesn’t seem to put her off it at all.

I chose this based on the positive reviews and the style of drinking my cats do – they like the spouted water trickle. I bought this to replace an old Kmart cheapo pet water fountain after the filters became unavailable when they updated the styles.

We tried both of their new styles but the nice looking one gave off a terrible hum and the cheaper one was still a bit buzzy with the pump. I also didn’t like the bubbler style fountain – my cats prefer the water to trickle.

I really love this product – very nice quality, it looks super cute and most importantly it is so quiet I can’t hear it at all. I like the led light and that the little spout is optional so it’s flexible for what your cat likes.

I also like that the feet raise it up as we would often get water pooling around the base of our old one whereas with this you can see easily if any spills have occurred. The replacement filters were easy to install and reasonablly priced.

Hopefully will be available for a long time.

Außerdem ist er auch optisch nett anzusehen und deutlich leiser als der letzte Brunnen. (Er wird nur bei zu niedrigem Wasserstand lauter. ) Wir haben uns für einen Keramik-Brunnen entschieden, da hier auf jeden Fall keine Weichmacher enthalten sind und er durch das höhere Gewicht sicherer steht.

Zudem können die Katzen auch daraus trinken, wenn die Pumpe nicht läuft. Theoretisch hätte die kleinere Version gereicht. Wir haben uns nur aufgrund der Farbe für die normalgroße Variante entschieden.

Die Montage ist leicht verständlich aber ein bisschen friemelig. Vermutlich macht hier Übung den Meister. Einen Stern Abzug gibt es für die Verarbeitung. Das erste Exemplar ging wegen einem Ausplatzer mit Sprung zurück.

Auch das zweite Exemplar hat einen winzigen Makel, den wir nun aber in Kauf nehmen. Beide Fehler befinden sich unter dem Lack und sind damit nicht durch Transport etc. sondern bereits in der Herstellung entstanden.

Mit Hilfe von Spülmittel, das wir mit etwas Geduld unter die Dichtung gekriegt haben, konnten wir sie schliesslich vom Keramikteil abziehen, gründlich reinigen und nur noch bis halb hoch aufziehen. So ist gesichert, dass das Wasser nicht aus Versehen innen überläuft.

Der mitgelieferte Filter hat dermassen nach “Chemie” gestunken, dass wir ihn direkt entsorgt haben. Die gleichzeitig bestellten Ersatzfilter waren aber leider auch nicht viel besser. Der Gesundheit der Katzen zuliebe haben wir beschlossen, den Brunnen einfach ohne Filter zu betreiben.

Bei häufigem Wasserwechsel und Reinigung ist das eigentlich auch kein Problem. Aber wie gesagt, ohne Filter macht der Brunnen für mich den hygienischsten Eindruck von allem, was ich bisher gesehen habe und die Katzen benutzen ihn gerne!.

My cats love this fountain. They drink from it a lot and will sit and watch it. Pump noise usually happens because of low water levels, the volume of water flow is too high or the pump is vibrating against the basin.

That’s with any water pump. Those having pump noise issues, try playing with the flow adjuster on the pump. Like any pump, they can get air in them when water levels run low. If the pump is running to high, it will make noise.

Mine is set on low. just enough to hear a light water trickle down the slide. If you hear a rattling/vibration noise, make sure the top cover is sitting correctly. My cats ran into it while chasing each other and it started rattling.

Simple fix by repositioning the top. I have to add some water once a week. Certain things can influence how often you have to add water such as humidity, temp inside your home, cats water intake, etc.

The basin water stays clean, water circles in basin then goes through the filter holes and back out through the top. No filtered pet system is 100% self cleaning so they do have to be cleaned. just not as often as water bowls.

I highly recommend this fountain.

First off, this is a review for the blue and white Catit fountain, NOT the green flower-petal one. The reason I purchased this fountain was because two of my cats were always “washing” their paws in their old water bowl and constantly making the water nasty with litter, which was driving me nuts.

This fountain has a filter wheel that catches such debris, so (ideally) ending those days of yucky water. However, I have a couple of complaints about the fountain. One is that the filter is ALWAYS popping up so that it ceases to actually filter the water; when I notice it, I press it back down, but it inevitably floats back up again at some point.

Second issue is: as others have commented, the fountain doesn’t completely cover the plastic center with water; instead it burbles out a halfhearted stream that only allows one cat to drink at a time, even though the container is quite large enough for two cats at once.

Third thing I don’t like is that the only access the cats have to water is from whatever is pumped up the middle– there’s no accessible pool (water’s all below the blue plastic), so if the power goes out the cats have no water.

On the plus side, the fountain is usually pretty quiet. About a day after refilling it, though, the water level is low enough that it makes a trickling noise as it falls back into the reservoir; this gets louder as the the water gets lower, indicating that it’s time to refill.

It took my cats a few days to take to it, and all but one will drink from it now. I really wanted to like this fountain, so we’ve been trying it out for a few weeks to see if it’d get better, but no such luck: the filter still pops up; the water still comes up only grudgingly.

It’s an all-right fountain for the price, but I think next time I’ll go for something a little higher quality.

I have 2 of these. My cats love them. I’ve read the bad reviews and glad I didn’t listen to them. If it’s not covering the whole surface, it’s probably not level. One of mine was hardly working. I pulled the pump out and it was clogged with hair.

I cleaned it off and found the pump was also turned down. I turned it up and it’s fine now. Yes the pump is adjustable.

Our little princess has always had a hard time just drinking from her water bowl. She would always splash her paws in first before she would drink anything. or drink the water from her paws. Many mornings I would get up and her water bowl would be flipped over or moved to another area in the kitchen – needless to say, there was always a lots of water on the floor.

We tried getting a heavier water bowl, we tried one that had a water bottle that automatically released the water (a quart), and nothing was working. Then it hit me that maybe the reason she was always playing with her water was so that she could see it better? I’m not sure if that’s the case because she doesn’t seem to have any vision impairments otherwise.

Anyway, when I saw this product I was a little hesitant because it’s a pricier water bowl. BUT WOW WOW WOW. I LOVE IT. The fountain is constantly moving the water, and because it’s up higher, she rarely puts her paws in it.

It’s super quiet and I barely hear it – it doesn’t sound like a little waterfall when the water gets lower, but it’s peaceful. There hasn’t been ANY water on the floor since I bought this and she doesn’t look at the bowl anymore like it’s a toy.

This was a great investment and would highly recommend it!.

Excellent product. We had a cheaper cat fountain and changed to this and both cats have been using the new fountain. The filters work really well but it was the UV cleaning which was the selling point and it doesn’t disappoint.

I feel that my cats are getting the best water possible and that is important to me. I love the app- it tells me everything I need to know about when to change filter etc. I love the design. My mum wasn’t convinced when I told her I was buying a top of the range fountain but when it arrived she was very impressed.

She even said if she had known it had such a cute cat face on it she would have been on board with design alone, never mind function! My teeniest niggles are that I may have to move the fountain as I worry that the water may be a little cold for the cat’s tummies.

Stainless steel is necessary to avoid acne so wouldn’t have chosen plastic anyway. It will be easy to move as the cord is quite long. Overall I am really pleased.

I got this product to encourage my little boy to drink more and hopefully avoid kidney and bladder problems. I found he was not drinking much from his bowl, he got food in it (no matter how far I put his food away from his water), and he would step into it by accident.

The water fountain looks modern and trendy. It matches well with the electric feeder. I like the cute little light. However, it is much bigger than I thought it would be. With just one kitten, it will probably take months before it needs refilling.

I was super excited when he instantly started drinking it whilst I was setting it up! He was 10 weeks at the time. He drinks a lot more now and drinks from the spout and the bowl. I like how the stainless steel keeps the water cool and fresh vs plastic.

We add filtered water so that the filters last longer.

I received the Petkit Eversweet 2S pet water fountain as a gift from PetKit @petkit_official_account I just want to say how much I love this cat water fountain! The Eversweet 2s is SUPER QUIET, you never hear the pump ( measures lower than 40 db.

) My cat drinking out of the bowl is louder than this fountain. You do have to plug it into a wall outlet for it to work. It’s a USB plug, and you will have to provide the plug in block. In addition to not making any noise, it also has an energy saving function.

When you have it on smart mode the pump will shut off every so often to save energy. If you have it set to normal mode it will run 24/7. The other nice thing about the Eversweet 2s is the purifying circulation filtration system, it includes a fur-proof mesh screen, an activated carbon filter and an ion-exchange resin that can purify the water.

It removes hair, dirt and food particles and helps provide maximum oxygenation for water. I have not found any hair or dirt in my kitties water so far. My Lilly likes to dip her paws in her water and when I was using a regular bowl you could see the hair floating on top of the water, yuk.

It also holds a ton of water, I have 3 cats and I don’t have to refill it very often, maybe every week and a half. I definitely recommend anyone looking for a pet drinking fountain to check the Eversweet 2s or the other cat fountains on Petkits site.

Hey all. Like everyone else, my water pump broke. I contacted the company and they recommended that I buy a new one since my unit is out of warranty. So I found a replacement pump at local garden store or home improvement store.

In the garden section a small fountain pump left the old pump in the unit off to the side, the new pump is exactly like the old one, I added a large drinking straw to connect the tube to the pump. Now its perfect, no noise and the new pump is adjustable.

I’m so happy and so are my fur babies!.

When I brought this product in Nov 2020 I loved it and so did my cats. After about 1 year, however, the motor started becoming very noisy. It is still working but not quietly. I can hear when the motor is on from the next room.

The cats don’t like the noise so don’t drink from it when the motor is running. It would be good if the motor could be replaced as it is detachable, but I can’t find anywhere where it is available, even Petkit’s home page.

I upgraded to this fountain from a Drinkwell fountain that had a large basin because I had a cat who liked to play in the water. This fountain eliminated that since there was no basin to play in. My cat really liked drinking out of the little spot in the top that the water bubbled out of.

I had this fountain for about a year before I upgraded to a stainless steel fountain. My cat liked this fountain, but I wasn’t such a fan. The fountain holds a lot of water, which seems great. The problem is that if the fountain isn’t almost always full, the pump starts grinding really loudly.

Holding a lot of water doesn’t do much good if you constantly have to fill it up anyway. The water tended to get slimy fast. I don’t know if it was the plastic or the filter or what, but it just seemed like it needed constant cleaning.

It was a pain to clean it well because of the pieces. The fountain was a great in theory, but it just wasn’t practical.

My cat loves the Hagen Catit Drinking Fountain. It’s great for older cats who prefer drinking out of a sink faucet. If they can drink from this little fountain, it makes it to where your older cat doesn’t have to jump up on the sink or you don’t have to pick them up and place them up there.

Only problem is sometimes when my cat gets hyper she decides to start splashing the water everywhere, ha ha. The fountain is surprisingly quiet except when it gets low in water, which is a nice reminder that you need to refill it.

It’s obviously a little more work than simply putting a bowl of water on the floor but I think the extra few minutes are worth it. My cat loves drinking out of the sink faucet so I used to have to turn it on for her when she wanted water.

She is getting older and not able to jump as well so sometimes she would have difficulty jumping up onto the sink. I would often just pick her up and place her up there. I saw this product in the store and thought it looked like a much better option.

So far, I love this and so does my cat. It has not only the fountain part but additional reservoirs if your cat decides they would rather drink from those. Occasionally my cat will get hyper and decides the fountain part needs to be attacked and splashed everywhere.

It really doesn’t bother me too bad but it may some people if you come home and your floor has water all over. I think kittens may be more prone to playing in the fountain part. I highly suggest this if you have a cat who likes to drink out of the sink.

It’s not that expensive and isn’t that difficult to assemble, clean, or fill. The filters are sometimes a challenge to find but just stock up on them when you do find them. Flavor Selection Not it’s purpose.

Fantastic product, can’t fault it. I had read a review complaining about the noise however I don’t find it a problem. There is a very slight electrical hum from the pump but that is to be expected! It is by far the quietest one that I have come across.

Nice and sleek design and you have the benefits of the fountain design without the constant noise of the water splashing which makes it perfect for inside use. It is high enough off the ground so my cat doesn’t have to bend down too far to reach it whilst still being low enough that our new kitten can also reach it.

We were having issues with our cat becoming constipated due to lack of water intake however that is no longer a problem as he is attracted to the constant flow of water and drinks far more than we could ever get into him before.

I have a VERY particular cat. She is extremely cautious and skittish about anything that moves or makes any kind of noise. Over the last 6 months we’ve been chasing her around because she stopped willingly drinking water.

The only way she would drink is if it had either chicken or tuna juice mixed in. Then she stopped drinking that too, the only way I could get her to drink was by spiking her wet food with water to make it soupy! Vet checked, health is fine.

But I’m aware it will begin to affect my spoiled girl soon enough. We tried everything water bowls in several areas, washed daily, refilled with fresh BOTTLED cold water multiple times a day. Nothing.

After searching for a quiet fountain, we came up with this lil’ beauty. We can’t have anything metal because she sees her reflection and won’t drink. Nothing noisy or moving because she’ll be too cautious to approach.

Had to remove the attachments to a bare bones water bowl and turn the pump down to low to minimize water movement and sound. Low and behold, she’s been drinking like she’s been on a deserted island for weeks! Yes, there’s upkeep and replacement filter costs.

But still cheaper than a vet visit for dehydration, kidney or other issues!.

One of my two beautiful Ragdoll cats is obsessed with any form of running water. Linen, my hilarious lady Ragdoll has learned on her own to flush the toilet as she loves running water as well as the sound of running water or ice cubes in the kitchen sink, watching me shave, joining me in the shower or sitting on the edge of the oversized bathtub.

Purchased this fountain with the stainless steel top after my cat developed mouth ulcers due to plastic. It worked great for the first year but after regular cleaning, the plastic pump guard started leaking.

The Catit folks gladly provided a replacement. Well, that worked for a few weeks and then the leaks started again. I’ve now had 3 replacements of the pump guard and they’ve each lasted for less and less time.

Switching to a fountain with a better design (and no plastic!).

I never write reviews but this fountain deserves 5 stars in my opinion. My cat wouldn’t drink from a regular water dish, but he loved to drink the running water from the faucets in the kitchen and bath room sinks.

So after reading many reviews I finally choose this fountain. We both love it. Now he drinks a lot more water and my new kitten is absolutely fascinated with it. This fountain is a nice heavy, well designed bowl.

It is easy to clean and re- assemble. The water flows nicely over the sides and makes a delightful sound. The cats both drink from all sides of the bowl as well as the top and from the water flowing over the center part.

It makes me so happy that they are drinking plenty of water now. I clean it and change the water every other day. So far I have just rinsed the filters and reused them, (for about six weeks so far) but have some replacements in my shopping cart for the future.

The only issue I have is that the cat likes to paw at the center section causing it to tip over or become unaligned with the hose below. I think he will outgrow this though. Sometimes I will unplug it at night just in case he does tip it.

I don’t like to do that because the sound of the falling water makes such a nice sound to sleep with. The bottom dish, however is heavy enough that he can’t move it or tip it over, which is good because he does like to play in the water.

All in all it gets five stars from me. Well worth the cost. Just be prepared to clean the litter box more often, because what goes in has to come out.
