20 Best Ceramic Knife Sharpener (2022 Updated)

Very convenient to sharpen my kitchen knives now. Would have purchased the electric power type. But disappointed it cannot sharpen single-edged knife. Overall, still satisfying.

Was very disappointed in this purchase. It is quite hard to use and does not work with the ceramic knife I have. The regular knifes are hard to get good results with. Would not make this purchase again.

The quality of these feet are pretty darn good. They fit my Singer model 1725 and Fashion Pro Simplicyty Model SW2145. They are definitively worth their price and more compared to stores. The delivery was fast, I think they arrived in four days.

Will buy more components from this seller again.

This knife sharpener’s clever design lets inexperienced people sharpen their knives very well. Other knife sharpeners are excellent but require skill and practice to use correctly, but this one is easy to use.

This sharpener is designed for the extremely hard edges of a Global knife. Global knives are edge hardened to around 60HRc which is very hard and makes using a normal steel straightener time consuming.

Global knives really need sharpening stones to maintain their edges. I am very good at sharpening knives but others in the house are not, so I bought this for them to be able to maintain a great edge on all our knives when I am not around to sharpen them.

My Global knives are 20 years old and this sharpener has put the correct angles back onto the edge for me in a really simple and easy to use way. This sharpener has coarse and medium grit stones so I finish my knives with a fine ceramic “steel” rod to get that really sharp finish.

There is another model with 3 stones which may be better if you don’t already have a fine ceramic “steel”. This 2 stone model will do a good job without any further edge finishing if you are not as fussy as I am.

I recommend this for any Global knife owner as it is easy and fast to use and will keep your knives in top condition.

Having a few Global knives, they had become a bit blunt even with the use of a steel and the occassional run over a whet stone I must have got the angle wrong. Anyway, I decided to give the Minosharp a shot given the majority of reviews are very good.

I have discovered with little pressure, beyond the weight of the knife itself, that the blades are practically as good as they were brand new. A vast improvement and far easier than messing around with a whet stone.

For those that have complained the rollers have broken, I can only assume that theyve been putting a great deal of pressure on the knife, which is definitely not required. Follow the instructions supplied ie, one finger along the top of the blade and you will get superb results.

Compact and easy to use, this will keep your knives good and sharp. rubber on the handle and on the under side at the heel and toe help it to stay put when in use. It is not very big and easily fits in my kitchen pretty standard kitchen draws.

I have used this to sharpen different knives, including a Global, having previously used a whetstone, this is much easier Although there is something enjoyable about sharpening a knife on a whetstone.

However, I also bought a brand new Global knife and compared the sharpness of my Minosharp sharpened Global to the brand new one. The brand new on was a lot sharper my test being can I shave the back of my hand with the knife.

I expect this is because the ceramic stones inside are the course and medium stones, as opposed to the 3 stone version which also has the fine stones. If the stones break int he future I will probably try to replace them with the medium and fine stones not sure if that will work but worth a go i reckon.

I have 4 miyabi knives and they are some of my favorite possessions and I used to take them back to the store where I bought them to get them sharpened a few times a year. That store closed down and I was extremely disheartened but now I am very pleased at how well this sharpener has rejuvenated the edge on my knives.

I had chips and dullness and all that was corrected by this sharpener. My knives are back to the point where I can slice a sliver off an apple that you can see through without pushing down and it is incredibly satisfying.

The Good: + Very easy to sharpen a knife + Great for Japanese edge knives because it is designed to sharpen at 10° angle on each side of the edge + Excellent value for the money + Sharpens even non-Japanese knives to a very sharp edge.

+ In this price range, you can’t go wrong with this sharpener. I’ve purchased few other sharperners but non of them come close to this one. The Bad: Nothing.

If you are looking for and easy way to keep your knives sharp, this is a great tool. Just glide the blade through each one of the slots, and your knife is magically transformed. Feels great to have sharp knives every time.

Use this for both my German and Japanese knives, works on both!.

This ceramic sharpening tool was a recommended item by a friend. Long story short, I used to own highly specialised sharpening tools when I owned a carpentry and handyman business. All my stones and electric devices were lost to me in a divorce process.

So, as I am buying new water stones, I had this recommended to me. I am actually very pleased with it. I can’t express how nice it is for me to have a santoku kitchen knife sharpened enough that it cuts ripe tomatoes cleanly and effortlessly.

Comfortable handle and rubber feet keep it in place during use. It has two sharpening stones set at an angle which was confusing at first until I realised it should be used through the clear plastic guide ‘slits’ which are 90 degrees to the handle.

Tried on cheap supermarket knives which made them ‘tomato sharp’. So risked it with my Japanese knives – no problem. Have read reports of the stones breaking but OK so far.

We purchased Global knives and have loved them. We noticed that we needed a knife sharpener after 2 years of use. Due to the price point of the knives, we thought it best to stick with Global sharpener.

It was really easy to use. Placing water inside and it tells you how many times you should sharpen. We noticed a 100% improvement with our knives after sharpening them. Extremely happy with the purchase.

Its for smaller jobs on the knife, if you have a big crack, it take ages to make it good. Thats needs to be done in a shop. But smaller things is OK. Good therapy when you watch TV 🙂

I purchased the Lansky sharpening system earlier and it worked great in getting my knives very sharp. The QuadSharp has all of the same angles available and is a quick way to touch up and keep a sharp edge on all of my blades.

I was already a fan of the Lansky Quadsharp, and find this a great supplement. I use it after shaping with the Quadsharp and before final honing, or without the Quadsharp, when coarse work isn’t required.

We are very pleased with this knife sharpener. It performs very well and is easy to use.

Knife sharpener is terrific. It does straight blades as well as serrated knives. An excellent purchase. I have bought it for a friend of mine who came for dinner one night and used mine and fell in love with it!.

It sharpens my Kuhn Rikon knives well, both the straight and serrated knives. The sharpener is easy to store when not in use.

Overall, I like it very much. Although made of plastic, it’s meaty, and weighty and when running it’s smooth and quiet, and when switched off it keeps spinning for several seconds just like my bench grinder in my shop.

The only part that I think could have been engineered better are the orange guides which move to adjust the angle of the grind. Once selected, I would think they shouldn’t “give” so easily; that is, with very little pressure against them, they move, altering the angle of the grind too easily.

It would have been better if the guides would remain fixed at the adjusted angle, to allow for better and more consistent grinding angle. I adapted to this however, by using very careful and light pressure against the guides, making a conscious effort to maintain the original angle.

The quality of the grinding wheels is very good, and they should remain effective for many years. I was successful in yielding very sharp edges from a wide variety of knives from cleaver to pocket types, Santoku to chef style to steak knives, from high carbon (non-stainless) to stainless.

BTW, I had recently received a different sharpener by a big producer of electric sharpeners which was similar but very inferior in quality and performance which actually “locked up” and wouldn’t restart, which I promptly returned.

It was $30 higher in price, and not worth anything in real usefulness. Glad I found the Presto, and I have confidence that it will perform for many years. Oh, also it literally won’t move when in use, as those suction cups really hold it on our granite top, whereas I couldn’t say the same with the previous one that I returned, which required holding it with one hand at all times.

Have used it for almost a year and still cannot get a decent edge on any of my knives. It is extremely awkward to use. Regardless how many times a knife is run thru, the blades never really get sharp.

They will cut better than a dull knife but not like a sharp knife should. It is hard to get an even edge on the blade from one end to the other. Considering the robust size and look, I expected a far more powerful machine.

It definitely is not a professional grade item. I am going back to my diamond dust sharpening stones as this is the third electric I have tried and none come close to setting a good edge.

Good, though not great. First, I am using the knife sharpener on stainless steel knives; they are harder to sharpen really well than the old carbon steel knives I used to have, and, I run out of patience with the chore.

For regular kitchen use, the sharpener is very adequate, quick and easy to use. Well built, and worth every penny. Also, I will get better at using it as I us it more. No going back to an oil stone for me.

It does a good job of getting the edge angle right for most uses. I am pleased with my purchase.

Sharp, good metal, and much more safer then regular knife and its width helps to keep fingers away from the food . Actually it became the main kitchen knife, honestly love it.

I use a grinding instrument, powered, to create a base with the desired blade angle, but I use these very handy smallish sharpeners to maintain an edge. they’re quick, handy and easy; it’s something I learned while working as a Kuchen Boersche in Switzerland.

This works much better than a steel honing rod. I was a little disappointed in the length of the ceramic rod but it works so will keep it.

Was sceptical about their claim to sharpen serrated edge knives. I tried it as per instructions and it works. My bread knife literally fell through a loaf of sour dough. Old steak knives have a new edge too.

It is also a superb common knife sharpener, producing a keen edge after a few sharpening strokes on both the coarse and fine sections. The coarse sharpener will remove multiple metal splinters which you need to dump in the trash often, to prevent these splinters from falling on floor causing problems with bare feet.

I was so excited to get this, love the size, fedl and look, but I’ve had some really nice knives for years that I used a ceramic sharpener on. It kept them in great shape. But over time the sharpener wore out.

I got this one thining it would be as good as my previous one. Not so. I’ve used it for about 2 months now and it isn’t very good. I have to reuse it during the course of simply cutting vegatables for a meal.

Used to cut tomoatoes like a razor- not the case with this sharpener. I’m on the look out for the model I used previously. It could be that the one I got is just flawed in some way and that usually this is a great sharpener.

This thing will get your knives sharp enough unless you are doing any kind of cutting for an audience or real customers. It wont slice stationary tomatoes with just the knife hand but it does easily sharpen and hone them quickly and easily to a safe sharpness thats good for the home cook.

I used to use a diamond plate sharpener to quickly get knives ultra sharp but the edge didnt last long and they were ultra dangerous. I never mastered a whetstone. This product is a good inbetween. For some reason it seems to do better with smaller knives.

I’d buy it as a gift for sure.

I was considering purchasing an expensive chef’s knife set, as I have stepped up my game considerably in the arena of culinary arts. It occurred to me that what I really needed was just really sharp knives.

The Presto 08800 has taken my expectations over the top. It does a fantastic job with my better knives and even my junk knives from the dollar tree are as sharp as a scalpel! I highly recommend the Presto 08800 for anyone from a novice to a pro.

The presto 8800 is a piece of junk. I’ve had 3 in a row and not a one can put a sharp edge on a knife. The first one only stage one would sharpen. I returned that one and the second one would only sharpen on stage two, after changing the cutting bevel from stage one.

I got the third one after I sent the second one back to the company, and it couldn’t put an edge on a knife from either cutting stage. I just can’t believe the company has this kind of quality control problems and are putting out this kind of junk.

I bought my first one back in 2000 and it would put an edge on any knife so sharp it would draw blood just from looking at it. Guess I’ll keep looking.

Great product at an affordable price! Got my husband one of these a few years ago and its very slick! He sharpens all the knives in such a short period of time. Never had any issues with it. Ordered two more for gifts this Christmas! Worth the money!.

I’ve never sharpened a knife before. After some light reading online and following the instructions. I got my dull blade razer sharp. I could shave hair from my arm with it. Yes I did try. Very sharp now.

I even got my BK2 sharper then when I got it. This product simply has everything you need at a reasonable price. Very happy with my purchase.

It is small, only about 2″ long. Take the carabiner off because it just gets in the way. Plus, it is a “Barbie Doll” Caranier and I would not put my trust in it. Remember, you are trying to sharpen or keep a knife sharp.

Holding this in one hand and pulling a very sharp knife through either side with the other, well be very careful or you just might accidentally cut open your wrist. I have a couple of slices on my hand now from trying to sharpen my knife.

It has a Carbon side for getting the rust and divets down quickly and then a Ceramic side to bring it to a very sharp edge. Point being, your pulling a very sharp knife through a very small sharpener and your wrist/hand is right there! do you really want to slice your wrists, and kill yourself? Either get a sharpening stone, which is much safer or go to SOG.

com they sell a similar product that has a suction cup. You can attach it to something and not put your wrist “In the line of fire. ” Sorry Leisure Pro, but this is a dangerous item. You should consider cancelling the item.

AND BRING BACK SOG KNIVES.

Simple knife sharpener for kitchen drawer Couple swipes of any and all kitchen knives and they are always sharp. Use it on both smooth edge and serrated blades. If that steak knife is that dull, why not use this sharpener.

Not going to pay a shop to sharpen $3-$5 steak knife.

its not a whetstone. but then it isnt supposed to be. for a basic simple to use sharpener that any house wife can make easy and quick work of keeping a decent edge to a blade and restore knives you may have thought beyond salvation this more than adequately does the job.

the rods diamond and ceramic seem well angled and of good grade, the carbide plates again seem well set and sturdy and again of good grade, the nonslip rubber isnt a vac up or screw fixing no but its effective and the sharpener isnt hard to handle.

if i had one niggle that would be the removal of the cutter head for cleaning i personally find it difficult to remove but so far ive managed to clear swarf easily by simply turning it upside down over the bin and giving a good shake.

i think its a good shapener for the world its going to be used in namely the average kitchen.

This is the second Latana knife sharpener I have bought. The first was some years ago and the wheels are practically worn out hence I needed a replacement. It is by a long way the easiest and most efficient sharpener I have come across for conventional knives – as long as you follow the instructions.

Not sure it’s appropriate for Japanese knives as these have a different angled cutting edge.

The first 2 blades work well but the ceramic finishing ceramic bars wear out very quickly. Not surprising really as the ceramic bars do not turn round so only 1 small part of the surface is used and that loses its sharpness very quickly.

Suggest purchasing a similar 2 stage device (for less than half the price) and then using a sharpening steel for the final honing.

Rapala sharpeners are great. I’ve used them for years and been looking to buy them separately from the filet knives. Found these and the bonus is the coarse and fine sharpener in one. I was happy to find them.

Rapala quality and value. Compact size too.

I’ve tried many pocket honing tools and these are my favorite. The coarse side restore and edge quickly and I like them better than V shaped carbide steels. At this price I bought a few for friends. I highly recommend these especially for fishing fillet knives.

I have a few of these sharpeners and attach them to the leather sheath Rapala knives come in with a piece of leather lacing to keep them handy. Just a couple of strokes on each side and my blades are sharp as can be with little effort.

I finally used this knife sharpener. It worked well. I’m happy.

If your knife blade has an edge pitch that aligns with the ceramic rods on this sharpener it will put a razor’s edge and is a greater finisher stone for them otherwise it will actually dull them. If you buy knives from harbor freight and I assume all Gordon branded knives this is a great tool but it actually dulled one of my Gerber Applegates to the point I had to redo the blade on another set of sharpening stones.

It’s greatest strength is that you don’t really need skill to use it, simply draw the knife back and forth lightly and slowly till you achieve the desired level of sharpness. The most negative thing about the tool is trying to clean the ceramic rods after the debris build up of sharpening several blades or the oils from them.

I end up soaking this in a soap and water solution and using some abrasive cleaner like comet or ajax on it with a pipe cleaner. Since it’s plastic it also has an opening that traps water and I used a drill to open a hole in it so it dries out faster.

I have two of these since they’re so cheap so I won’t be without it when soaking one to be cleaned. If the ceramic rods had an adjustable angle pitch this would be the greatest finishing sharpener for the price.

First off let me address a few things you should know about this product. It works by you sliding the blade between two small ceramic rods in a fixed position. Like all ceramic sharpening rods, they work best if you clean the excess steel off them that builds up over time as a dark residue.

Also this is designed for fine sharpening so you’ll want a semi sharp blade to begin with or else it will take a very long time to sharpen. One last tip, for a keen edge you do best by starting with moderate pressure in the beginning and ending with very light pressure.

All that said, I have found this to be a very easy to use and effective product. No it won’t last forever but you won’t find much better for this price.

Due to the many positive reviews here, I purchased this “hone” (thanks tennesee) at my local HF. This thing is easy to use and has given excellent razor sharp edges to my kitchen, pocket and fixed blade knives.

The large handle and rubber feet provide a sturdy base. I learned to lift the edge slightly and just hone one side at a time, drawing the blade through the ceramics, leaning left, then right, etc. Incredibly sharp results.

Lifetime warranty. Highly recommended.
