20 Best Cervical Traction Device (2022 Updated)

Noticed a difference right away. I do use it every night now. I have a three bad discs with stenosis. I have tried every pillow available. Chiropractor. Cervical epidural shots / Steroid shots (ruined my thyroid).

Nerve ablation. I love that this is drug free. I recommend start out slowly. Maybe just put it on and do not pump it up the first time, and I HIGHLY recommend that you have someone home and around the first few times until you get comfortable with how to get out of it yourself! Especially if you are claustrophobic at all!! It does take some time to get used to getting out it yourself.

Another trick: keep the “key” release attached to the pump so you always have it handy so you can release the pressure after you have pumped the brace up. Otherwise, once I got the hang of it, I fell in love with it! I have much more range of motion in my neck! Glad I splurged for this item!.

Purchased for my husband’s chronic neck pain/headaches. Chiropractor has helped temporarily but he loves this device and hasn’t had a headache since he’s started using it! He can turn his neck from side to side w/o pain or “cracking noises”.

I’m calling this a win and money well spent!.

I purchased the Comfortrac cervical to help with occasional neck discomfort. It provides great relief for neck tension and even tension related headaches. They also have great customer service! I had to have the Velcro strap replaced, which they sent for free, despite me not knowing if it was within the 3 year warranty period.

You can’t go wrong by purchasing this product.

I expected a better grip and more feeling of the traction. The positioning is very awkward and doesn’t feel right. Overall it didn’t work for me as I have the impression that my symptoms got slightly worse when using the device but this is probably related to my condition, even though manual traction did work well for me before.

I would recommend to try it a few times first before buying which unfortunately for me wasn’t an option.

This is a must have for those with neck pain, this was recommended to my wife from a chiropractor. My wife is a dental hygienist and has constant neck pain due to her posture at work. This little device helps to alleviate her neck pain.

It’s pricey but worth it in the long run.

Anybody who suffers from migraines and/or tension headaches will tell you how many things theyve tried in order to prevent or stop headaches. I cant begin to count ho many things Ive tried over the years and most dont work.

While this hard, weird little pillow thingie doesnt work for my migraines, it DOES work wonders for headaches that get their start from neck pain and tension. It helps to ease neck pain from tight muscles caused by working at a computer or laptop all day or from sitting in one position too long while driving or traveling.

This device is hard enough that it doesnt compress when you lay on it, and you can use it like you would a muscle roller as well. Hold the part that isnt curved and has the squared off edge, and push the rounded edge along your back, side, thigh, etc.

Works easier if you take off the fishnet fabric cover first. You can also use this more towards your shoulders if they feel tight, or even put it under one shoulder to kind of dig into a tight group of muscles to mimic trigger point release.

Works as a way to stretch tight arches and help relieve plantar fasciitis, tooIt might take you a few tries to find the best position in which to use this, so dont give up on it should it not work for you on the first or second try.

StrongTek neck stretcher cervical traction wedgeI use this together with the Trobing cervical neck stretcher ASIN B08KZX458Y as I have pain in my neck and the area just below my neck that also radiates towards my arms.

I use these neck stretchers to supplement the stretch exercisesI do. It took a while before there was any improvement but there definitely was less pain. The advantage of this StrongTek version is that its smaller than the Trobing stretcher.

When Im away from home, the StrongTek version is easier to pack in my bag.

This little neck device works well for stretching and relieving stress/pain on your spine. However, it’s hard. Literally hard. It’s hard to find a place to use it because it slides. On the bed or couch it seems to sink in too much to be effective thanks memory foam.

On the carpeted floor it slides out of the correct position. Maybe it’s operator error here, but I can’t quite get it to work for me. I’ll stick with my pillow roll.

The Theraband Flexbar has been great and lived up to all previous hype. Been struggling with tennis elbow for months but in less than a week of using it, can already see some improvement. I would recommend going on youtube for directions on how to use as the instructions that come with it aren’t very good.

I bought the blue but in retrospect should have bought the next firm one down.

I suffered a severe wrist/thumb sprain. My physiotherapist told me to get one of these and she showed me what exercises to do with it. I feel like it has really helped. Its obviously not some kind of magic wand.

It won’t heal any kind of hand aliment. It has to be the right tool for you and you need to know what exercises would help your injury.

I am a Hapkido practitioner (martial art) and do some weight training. I had a bad case of tennis elbow that did not improve with meds, Physical Therapy or cortisone shots. With the use of Thera – Band Flexbars (red, green and blue), I got back to my usual activities in a short period of time.

The best money I have recently spent!!.

I’ve had it now for just over two weeks and used it every day. As far as quality of product, the pump stopped working about 10 days in. Took it apart, greased the shaft and now works buy only pumps air on the push, it was pumping on both push and pull before.

So that’s that. On the effectiveness of it, my cervical problem is considered “severe” and am trying to buy time and push surgery as far away as possible. Heaving said that, 2 weeks in of everyday use, i either don’t feel any better or it’s barely marginal at all.

But take that with a grain of salt, my problem/body may reapond different than yours. It should work, maybe it will down the line. It should at least help a little bit, decompression is decompression.

But it hasn’t yet. I haven’t “popped” or “cracked”at all at 20-22psi. Supposedly significant decompression happens between 25-30psi, but with my situation I can’t push it past 22psi yet. Besides, your head wants to come off the plank as the head strap holds it in as you bump up the pressure, making it feel uncomfortable to day the least.

There was one other device that had a brace looking thing that went around your neck. That made more sense to me, but i bought the Sainders because of the better/more reviews. So take all that in consideration, there are others that say they have relief on first use and I don’t see why they would lie about this.

But it’s probably very “situation specific”.

My doctor prescribed traction physical therapy for my stenosis and bulging disc condition, but the PT time is pretty limited over the course of a week, so I bought this for home use. It is pretty good, and feels similar to the machine at PT, with a couple exceptions.

1. The PT machine pulls for several seconds, then slowly releases at intervals. I have to manually do this with the Saunders unit, but that’s acceptable. 2. The PT machine releases at a slow, controlled rate, while the Saunders releases pressure all at once.

This isn’t comfortable, but I can control the release to some extent by putting a finger over a little air hole as I release. That is mostly acceptable. 3. While on hold, the pressure drops over a few minutes.

For example, if I set it to 20 lbs, it’s at 15 lbs after 4 or 5 minutes. This is only somewhat acceptable. I still find value in what the Saunders unit does for me, but it’s a little disappointing in this regard.

Because of this, I can only half-heartedly recommend this device, and only if you can afford it and know it’s shortcomings.

i have had several cervical muscle spasms within the last few years, and extreme muscle tension that causes headaches / sometimes migraines. i felt so helpless for months, going to the chiropractor, osteopath, getting massages.

all of which were costing me so much money. now, having worked for a chiropractor (several actually), i can definitely say that this device will only be beneficial and safe if compression is your issue.

and even if it is the right machine for you, do NOT overdue it. i have been doing 5 minutes every night, and immediately using an ice pack on my neck after for about 1 1/2 weeks now, and am slowly increasing the time GRADUALLY.

i have to say. since using it. no headaches. i can work longer hours due to no pain in the evenings. it is pretty fantastic. DO YOUR RESEARCH on your neck troubles FIRST.

This was an item I came across while hopping around the Vitality Medical website. After suffering from stiff necks, kinks in my neck and shoulders as well as occasional migraines. I ordered this device to see if it might help with these rewards of old age and hard work.

Well I can assure you, that it works quite well for finding relief from these issues. It’s easy to use and comfortable to wear. It is also very affordable too. I say, give it a shot you won’t be disappointed.

Worst piece of junk ever. I totally got suckered into it. Don’t be a fool like me. The Chinese con artists are taking advantage of our pain and vulnerability, laughing at us while they take our hard earned money for jokes like these.

It’s terribly sad and wrong. I wish the stores I trust, like walmart wouldn’t allow these low quality products on the site. This should be sold in a bubble gum ball machine.

It helps! Remember you’re not trying to get taller. Took 10 days for results. Air it up firm not hard as a rock. Can feel claustrophobic, but you figure it out. My cats fur sticks to it like crazy.

Doesn’t really feel like much of a stretch. I’ve tried adjusting the height as instructed. Also tried adjusting the angle and the distance from the strap to increase the tension. Never have obtained a feeling of traction.

Its comfortable, and a relaxing lie down with head resting sort of in the air, but I’m not seemingly experiencing any sort of therapeutic stretch, traction or benefits as far as I can feel.

I was given this last year and really didn’t pay it any attention. The past few months I have developed spasms in my neck. (I have a long history of neck and shoulder problems). Last week I started a 10 minute regime and was totally amazed at the results.

I think the hardest part is finding a door going in the right direction. Also, lying directly on a hard wood floor is difficult. Fortunately I have a Everlast mat that greatly improves the therapy.

Directions are simple to follow. The only thing that required any patience was getting the right “hanging height. ” It is both relaxing when using it, and the cumulative positive effect grows quickly when used daily or as close to daily as possible.

I usually use it after my workout, my head/cradled and ice on my “bad” knee.

Good product. I would’ve given a 5 star rating but the pressure doesn’t hold. I set it at 15 and within a minute or so have to add more pressure to return to 15. I have to do this about 3 times throughout a 10” session.

Otherwise easy to use and materials are of good quality.

This product was use on me by my physical therapist so I decided to get the same product for home use. It is simple to use and convenient. So far it has help up well for me and my orthopedic Dr approves of my using it.

I found this product to be good quality. It just seemed to not be comfortable. I’ve been in physical therapy for a couple years and this type device was recommended to me by my therapist. I have trouble breathing in it because of how much I have to inflate it to actually get it high enough to lift my neck.

If you have a longer thin neck this probably won’t work for you either. (Good, sturdy quality though).

My husband has a spinal birth defect ‘ n his neck. Stretching his neck opens the two discs up and allows better flow to head. This decompressor is mobile which allows him to use rather laying down, sitting, or standing! It’s comfortable and was affordable! My husband has Thoracic Outlet Syndrome which is a painful area of the neck and shoulder. His Physical Therapist recommended a Cervical Neck Traction Device. We found this device at the Walmart online site.

It is better than other devices as when you pump the air into it, the air is distributed evenly throughout the device by 3 tubes running to each pillow. Inflates easily. Provides relief from compressions in neck and shoulder.

The soft fabric is comfortable against the skin. Thanks Walmart!.

For the innovative quality products sold by CP, it would be great to see something else offered here. A bag of water used for the weight is not ideal b/c the need to drain it to keep it clean. The bag does NOT drain completely b/c of the design.

CP should sell a canvas bag instead to hold weights as a second option. CP should also sell a bracket that screws into the wall instead of this bracket that only hangs on a door. You can’t shut the door with this bracket and it is A LOT of weight hanging on a door.

Unfortunately, I haven’t used it. In reading the instructions, it says I need another person to assist while using. I don’t have “another person” to help me, so I can’t use it and I’m very disappointed! I double-checked the website and nowhere does it say that another person has to help use the system, only in the instructions included in the package does it say this.

I have a bulging disc. My doctor recommended I purchase one of these to ease the pain in my neck. I have purchased expensive equipment in the past and I didnt get any pain relief so I figured by spending a small amount I had nothing to lose but the pain in my neck, so I ordered one.

Initial setup was a simple as pie. In fact, I didn’t see any need to look at the instructions. What a difference this has made!.

I have a condition where the pain in my neck comes from a pinching action in my cervical vertabrae. My physical therapist advised me to get this and I used hers on three occasions. Since I received mine, I’ve been using it at home and I definitely feel a difference in the level of pain.

I can go a day or more with much less pain. It is relatively easy to use. The manual is less than helpful, though. My therapist advised that I bend my knees while on my back in order to relax my spine to gain the most benefit.

The one thing I dislike about the device is the head strap is made of very cheap material. It’s scratchy and makes the skin on my forehead itch. Plus the edges of the strap irritate the skin. I’ve put a sock over it and that helps a lot.

Considering on how much I paid for the device, I think the strap could be better made and of softer material. It would be very helpful if the numbers on the pump dial were in a much larger font. It’s impossible to read the numbers when you’re on your back, the room lights are in your eyes, and you’re not wearing your glasses.

I would recommend this device to others.

Very comfortable, almost wanted to fall asleep. I always wake up with a sore neck or some kind of pain but Ive realized I havent been in so much pain. I recommend this. Plus it came so fast, I ordered it and in three days it was here.

I’ve been having neck pain for years. I have a Inversion Table, but it takes up a lot of room! I rigged it to stretch my neck while watching TV!. then a position to ly down. Awesome Great Results! Great quality!.

Good quality I think even the short cord is a little too long though. If it was just a few inches shorter it would be easier to use. I have to slide away from the door too far. Ok for the price though

I needed to stabilize my neck while doing massages and riding in un-ergonomically designed seats while I addressed healing a pinched and inflamed nerve root. This comfortably did the trick and I felt fine wearing it in public and through airports.

It would be a bit overheating to wear while active in hot weather unless one could keep the included velcro gel pack refreshed for the back of the neck. The front allows lots of air however and there are several ways to adjust it for comfort and stabilization.

(One I had to figure out because the instructions didn’t mention it) Glad there was such a designed product quickly available when I needed it!.

I went through a few before I found this one. Its perfect for 1 person adjustment, excellent support, and customizable. Only complaint I have is that the chin piece is very irritating and needs to be covered.

This brace has helped my symptoms tremendously and is actually very comfortable most of the time. I wear it 23/7 and love the ability to adjust it to a perfect fit. My only complaint is that the cotton covering over the chin pad peeled off within a few days of wearing it.

Given the price and guidelines to wash it daily I would expect it to be much more durable.

The soft gel conforms for more comfort and direct application than traditional ice packs. The design and Velcro allow for icing while going about needed tasks as well. I’ve had one for years and bought this one for my daughter who has a herniated disc.

Much better for her than others she had tried.

I like this although I had to sew on the other side of the velcro. If you do not eventually the velcro removes the material on the other side and there is nothing to stick it to.

Love the thin quality of the gel pad, not bulky and bothersome around the neck. Gets very cold and has the perfect weight to it to relieve some pressure. Highly recommend it for anyone suffering from chronic neck pain.

I had originally reviewed this product and I think I gave it 4 stars because I was using the neck curvature attachment on it, and it was uncomfortable for me to use on my inversion table. I have since found the correct placement on my table for it and the right angle to get the most out of it, and to make it more comfortable.

I enjoy it so much, I have even asked my chiropractor to let me use it when I’m on the (what I call) the “rolly table”, and he lets me. The attachment I use mostly is the curvature one, where it helps re-establish the curve in my neck that I’m supposed to have, but do not anymore thanks to crappy bed pillows.

I sit at a desk all day every day, so usually during my lunch break, I will have this thing with me and will lay down in the floor with the blue restore attachment on it and it helps relax my neck muscles.

Anyway…after actually being able to use this thing as designed, I felt like I needed to come by and review it again.

Been using a Teeter table for about 8 years and literally could not live without it. Haven’t been much interested in their ‘add on’ stuff, but I’ve been experiencing some neck and upper back uncomfortableness I’m guessing due to age and unavoidable arthritis.

Saw the neck restore and then saw it on sale and decided to try it. I added it to my table and really can’t explain it, but it works. I lay flat with my head on it at the base (right at base and neck) and slowly roll my head back and forth for about 30-45 seconds.

Pretty much like a mini massage. Relieves tension and just feels better. Only complaint is that it’s a little in the way when I’m hanging locked out to twist around to face the table each way. My arms tend to hit it when I reach around, but I’ve decided to leave it in place.

The benefits and convenience of it being there to use it are worth the slight extra care when reaching.

I already have the teeter board which really does help when I have issues with my back. Stretches the spine and really does loosen you up. Decided to give this a try since due to back issues, I do have stiffness in my neck.

First tried it as a massager not attached to the board and it felt great. Then I attached it to the board and it really did help loosen my neck muscles. I have to admit that I was sore for a few days but after that my neck muscles were loosened up and I am able to have fuller side to side motion than before.

I am really happy a bought this. I started out very slowly at 2 pounds for 2-3 minutes. I have found that 4 pounds is plenty of weight for me at this time and I am up to 4-5 minutes at a time. I can feel a big difference.

This product is really helping me. I bought sand to put in it instead of water. I don’t have to mess with changing the water,letting it dry etc. and most importantly to me is I don’t have to be concerned with the weight sloshing around.

You need to be very careful when it comes to anything pulling on your spine. Any slight movement at the wrong time in the wrong way can cause more harm than good. I would recommend that you check with your doctor before trying this or any other similar product and have someone help you and be there when you are using it.

Excellent product. Extremely well instructions on how to put together. No tools required. I been using it nightly. Told my Chiro and she highly recommends this as well. Told her the price she was amazed usually cost much more elsewhere.

Will buy one for friend has same vertebrae problems. It works to relieve stress/tension in muscles (neck and shoulders) and separate, slowly, vertebrae in neck and upper back. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

the metal cross piece hurt my old lady hands, I put a short length of pool noodle on each side and tapped it in place. also put a small pad of quilters batting in chin cup. Other wise the devise has offered some beginning relief.

My chiropractor suggested I get a cervical traction device. I read the reviews and purchased this Saunders device. What I learned when I brought it in to show my chiropractor was Saunders is the best you can get.

It did not come with a directions. However, figuring it out was pretty simple. The knobs control the width of the neck rests and the pump has a dial on the head with 3 settings. Pump mode, Hold mode, Release Mode.

Using 2 times a day for 15 minutes and no more as recommended. Have not used long enough to feel results yet.

The Saunders is far superior to the Pronex unit I’d been using for the past 7 years. My surgeon told me about the Saunders Cervical Traction Unit. From the moment I saw its build quality, experienced it’s comfort and precise traction measurement capabilities, the Saunders has turned out to be a God send for me whenever my neck has a flare up.

And when used as part of a weekly neck exercise program, my migraines have stopped and I can sleep through the night without any neck pain waking me up. I highly recommend the Saunders Cervical device.

This was recommended to us by our PT person. She raved about them. She has PHD in PT so I think she knows her stuff. Have not used yet because it is a Christmas present. however, I feel that nothing says I love you more than a Saunders Surgical Traction Device with carrying case.
